Chasing The Calm
Summary: Tyler Owens x fe!Reader -> A moment of peace for you and Tyler in between the chases.
Disclaimer: Mostly a fluffy short, tornado wrangler family, dog adoption, relaxing on the porch vibes, etc.
Tumblr media
You’d both had a long day.
You’d been storm chasing with Tyler for almost five years. It had started out as a favour – you had a break off work for a few weeks in the summer and he needed a data reader. So, after some persuading, you agreed.
And you’d been chasing ever since.
The day’s chasing started at five in the morning. Lily had set an alert on her phone which meant any tornados worth chasing for footage would be sent directly to her phone. Even if that meant getting your asses into gear to drive into the middle of an unused field.
Finally, around three p.m, Tyler had called a break for everyone. Boone was starting to lose energy and the others were ready for food and an early night. And since strolling back into your shared home, you and Tyler had been laying on the porch swing watching the sun slowly set across the acres of land.
Not too long after Tyler had helped you up before slotting you in between his legs, the Wrangler rescue came and slotted herself in the small gap left by yours and Tyler’s legs as you lay on him.
Every now and again you could hear Dexter making tea in the kitchen. The kettle whistled for a few seconds before he pulled it from the stove.
Tyler’s heartbeat was steady in his chest as he lightly drew his fingers up and down your back, his eyes looking across the fields at the golden hue that had been cast across the wheat.
Compared to the humidity and winds you’d all been experiencing since five a.m, the soft breeze that blew through the porch and across both of you was a kind welcome.
From the other end of the porch swing, Hay-Bail shifted her position before sighing as she lay back down.
You’d found Hay-Bail almost two years ago.
A tornado had ripped through a small town, but not before hitting one of the local farms. Its wind had sent plenty of hay bails flying through the air, one landing by Tyler’s truck. You’d all spent close to two hours helping out where you could before leaving and getting cleaned up yourselves.
Only, as you stood by Tyler, you heard a small whimper. At first, you thought your ears had tricked you. But once Dexter and Lily had pulled away in their cars, along with Dani, Javi, Kate and Boone, you heard it again.
“Ty, wait.”
Tyler watched you as you slowly crouched towards the hay bail and for a moment he wondered what you were doing. Then he heard it himself.
Hurrying forward, you’d looked all around it. From under Tyler’s truck to the stay piles on the ground. But nothing. Till you looked inside the bail of hay.
With straw scratched away, a puppy no older than two months emerged. Covered in hay, the poor thing wouldn’t stop shaking.
“Hey, hey, come here. Oh, Ty, she’s shaking like a leaf.”
Holding her carefully in your arms, Tyler checked her over. She wasn’t bleeding, but she was shaking. “She must have hid when the tornado came.”
“Tyler, her heart’s racing.”
Holding her carefully against your chest, you petted and soothed her head.
“There should be an emergency vet a town over. Come on.”
And so you were off. Three and a half hours later, the puppy had been checked out at the vet. You’d helped calm her, but she was calmest against Tyler. Namely, whilst she was trying to climb into one of his shirt pockets.
The vet had also informed both you and Tyler that the farmer she belonged to said to keep her. He’d been trying to sell his puppies for months and she was the last one. He didn’t even know she’d gotten out of her pen until the vet called.
If you and Tyler didn’t take her home, she would have been abandoned. And neither of you could have that. Plus, she seemed rather taken with Tyler.
From that day on, Hay-Bail became a certified member of the Tornado Wrangler family. You’d been meaning to give her an actual name but until you found one, she was just known as Hay-Bail and it stuck. But it suited her. To this day, if she was ever missing, she was in the shed playing in the hay.
As your eyes took in the landscape around you, you smiled in contentment.
You loved your job, you loved that you got to go out almost every day and chase. That almost every day, you lived in the moment and got to capture memories to last a lifetime.
But you also loved moments like this.
Laying with Tyler, and Hay-Bail, just listening to the sounds of the house and the surrounding fields. All the while, the sun slowly started to make its descent so the moon could rise up into its place.
It was in moments like this you were glad you accepted Tyler’s offer to join him for the summer all those years ago.
You and Tyler had met in college on the same course. You’d never really been close, but you’d done plenty of late night study sessions in the library together, testing each other on the facts in order to be prepared for the next pop quiz your professor decided to throw at you.
After college, you’d both taken widely different routes, though you still kept in touch. Every now and again, Tyler would send you a storm article or if he was in town, you’d meet up for coffee.
And whilst Tyler had found fame and success in Tornado chasing, you’d become a community college science teacher. You had enjoyed it for a while, but being in the field, chasing tornadoes, collecting the data, teaching others about the weather as well as the science behind it…that was your calling.
But, just as you got settled into your new career and life with the Tornado Wranglers, another change was made eighteen months later when you and Tyler started dating.
It took you both a while to figure it out considering you’d been friends for a long time and you’d be working together for the foreseeable future. But after a long talk from Dexter and a quick anecdote from Boone, Tyler and yourself had come to a conclusion.
Whatever was going to happen, would happen. But it would be better together than apart.
From his chest, you looked up at him and he immediately looked back, the same soft smile on his face.
Leaning up, you kissed him and he kissed back lightly as his hand came to the back of your head.
Neither of you had to say anything, because it was all said in the kiss.
You lay back down as Tyler’s fingers started to brush through your hair. However, just as you both started to doze off, an alert came through on your phone.
Reaching into your back pocket, Tyler pulled your phone out for you and handed it to you.
Gently taking it from him, you pressed the power button and you read the alert.
“There’s a storm North-East of us; numbers are looking good. Looks like it’s gonna be heading…” You flipped your phone. “West. Not much there other than wind turbines and overgrown pasture.”
Tyler smiled as he watched you and when you looked back at him, neither of you had to say anything. You’d be chasing it.
“Hey! Guys! I think I’ve got one!” Lily yelled from somewhere inside the house.
Kneeling up, Tyler sat up underneath you before you both jumped onto your feet and slipped your shoes back on. Hay-Bail was already up and following Tyler into the barn to collect Kate and Javi.
Within minutes, everyone was in a vehicle and were driving North-East and into another tornado.

strawberry blonde 💗
Tumblr media
cw: fluff, sfw, cowgirl!abby, cutie patootie sugar drop baby girl abby, abby x fem!reader, modern au, lev!! , family strawberry picking date but lev found a puppy on the farm property
~ ✧ HAPPY BIRTHDAY @aanvime !! ILY POOKIE, RUSHED THIS A BIT SO YOU COULD GET IT TODAY BUT HERE YOU GO!!
abby smiled down at you, looking at your white and red sundress. You wore the boots she bought you, matching her own. Her white button up had little pink and red embroidered flowers that you had left after patching it up.
"is lev ready?" You asked, leaning against her chest, her lips grazing your forehead in a soft kiss. you nodded, knowing he was sitting out in the living room and waiting to make a comment about the matching family outfits.
she hummed, grabbing onto your hand gently, a lovesick look in her eyes as she looked over your face. the two of you eventually left your shared room, walking down the hallway and seeing lev sat on the couch, wearing a red button up and black ripped jeans.
abby let go of your hand after a moment, kissing your cheek and walking over to lev, giving him a playful hug as he groaned.
"abby!!" he said, his smile obvious as he hugged her back.
"shush, kid" she smiled, running a hand through his hair before pulling away from the hug.
~*••*~
abby pulled into the entry of a farm area, holding a conversation with lev as she parked her white truck. You looked out the window, a large white house on the right, fields away. On the left, there were fields and fields of strawberries and flowers.
abby looked over at you, smiling at your wide eyes as you took in the area ahead of you, lev making some comment about the way she looked at you.
you smiled, looking over the different colors of flowers, the bright red of the strawberries right beside white lilys and babys breath. you hadn't registered abby getting out of the car, but smiled down at her as she opened the passenger door for you, holding her hand out for you to help you out.
you took her hand, leaning into her with a bubbly smile. lev grinned, ready to make a comment.
"god, you guys are gay" he said, letting out a small laugh as abby rolled her eyes.
"ya'know whats gay, kid?" She said, kissing you with a smirk, your cheeks turning pinkish.
"ew abby!" he groaned, a jingling sound coming from behind him. he turned swiftly, seeing a large, scruffy german shepherd.
he wore a smile, kneeling down and rubbing the dogs ears, checking its collar and reading it.
"her names alice, shes the farm dog" he said, looking up at you and abby with a large smile. Alice got into a playful stance at hearing her name, running off into a flower field as lev followed, running off and playing with her in the tall sunflowers.
abby laughed softly, taking your hand with a smile and leading you to a strawberry field, being careful to make sure you wouldn't trip as she grabbed two baskets.
"cmon'', love, lets pick sum' berries" she said gently, one of her large hands on your back as she handed you a basket.
~*••*~
as you two picked strawberries, abby insisted on feeding you one every few minutes, the suns warmth heating them up and enhancing the flavor as the red fruit hit your tongue. she smiled down at you, wiping the pink juice from your lips.
she brought you to the middle of the fields, sitting down with you where the strawberries and flowers divided, the warm sun fading into cool autumn air. she toyed with your hair as you leaned against her chest. she hummed softly, one of the songs you made her listen to - chappell roan.
as it slowly got a little colder out, she spoke softly, pushing a strand of hair behind your ear. "love you, sweetheart" she whispered, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead, holding you tight in her arms.

↓↓DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER IF YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED VEILGUARD + Click for full res.
Harding’s mother knew her daughter's work had taken her far and wide, and she had connected with many different people. But never did she ever imagined so many would come.
It was a stunning sight. In robes and armour, in scarlet and blue and gold and green, they had journeyed across all of Thedas to their sleepy little hamlet. They had filled the humble inns and the surrounding fields, full of spring heather, transformed into colourful campsites. They had come, with gold jewellery and shining armour, they had come with holes in their shoes and worn-out leathers, they had come and sat side by side. To honour her sacrifice and celebrate her memory. She had seen then how her daughter had known the whole world, and in return, the whole world had loved her—the hero of the final blight, the hero from Ferelden.
(click for a lot more detail) ↓
Her home away from home—the Veilguard—had arrived first and stayed the longest, some had helped set up, others had gone about fixing old roofs, helping the farmers repair their equipment, planting gardens, bringing ingredients from all over and cooking large meals, and talking to her and her husband about all Lace had done.
Then more and more started arriving, celebrated for three days and three nights. Many Harding’s mother had not known at all—Tevinter civilians, assassins from Antiva, fortune seekers, and seers from Rivain. There had been Elves with beautiful, delicate tattoos from far-off northern forests, Grey Wardens in uniforms so different from what she had known, Dwarves dressed in peculiar garb who had not stayed long, and Nevarran scholars with dark jewellery, black robes, and warm, generous dispositions.
And old friends too.
Commander Cullen, Lily Trevelyan, and their young family had brought fruit and fruit seeds from their small farm in the valley over. The Iron Bull—the tallest Qunari Harding’s mother had ever seen, and the kindest and most respectful—he and his Chargers had brought crates of honey mead, before starting up a game of sport with the village children. Soon after, they had been joined by Sera, Lace’s fellow archer, who had offered to let each child try out her bow. Watched by Dorian, who had soon grown bored and returned to the garden to Neve, whom he had walked around and introduced to old friends.
Josephine had arrived late, flushed, and emotional without a hair out of place, but had made up for it by immediately taking charge of herding the crowds this way and that. The Herald, Lavellan, had sat outside in the sun watching her young daughter play in the grass, frail and weakened by what the mark had left—and was still taking. Yet she had spoken to every person who had passed by. Many faces had wandered through to sit beside her and speak. In particular, Lady Cassandra—silver lines of hair mixed with her black—had sat with her the longest. Both had been stricken with the loss and the burden of leadership, a hole in each of their hearts for the knowledge that Harding had died dressed as an Inquisition Scout.
Harding’s mother had never seen the Divine up close, but had heard a great deal about her from Lace. Her strength as a spellsword, quick wit and sharp mind had made her an intimidating idea. Yet, she had come dressed in simple robes—perfectly tailored and beautiful, but simple. With just a cape and a modest headdress. No guards. If you hadn’t known who she was, you would have been forgiven for mistaking her as a high-ranking Circle mage—nothing more. She had arrived with no great entrance, heading immediately to her and her husband. She had sat with them for an hour, as the sun had glistened in a golden afternoon light, before walking with them to the small chantry that sat in the centre of the village. After that, she had gone to old friends, sitting on a wooden bench beneath the cherry tree, speaking with a rugged, rough-looking man with a black beard streaked with grey and looking like he had lived a thousand lifetimes—a complete contrast to her well-kept, elegant appearance.
As the friends and family had gathered for the formal ceremony, Vivienne, had performed the Chantry rites. Afterwards, a few people had taken turns to speak. The Herald, then Rook—their young leader of the Veilguard—before the dragon hunter, tall and stoic, and so young, who had been so blunt and informal it had been almost funny. The days spent in Harding’s home with her mother had softened Taash’s heartbreak just enough.
The Inquisition Spymaster and the Witch of the Wilds had made an odd pairing as they had stood away from the rest, beneath the oak tree on the hill. They had stood so close you might have mistaken them as sisters—or perhaps simply two people who had experienced too much together. Later, as the sun had begun to set, they had been joined by another. A man, around the same age, but his face had been in shadow. He had worn simple travelling robes, and a cloak with his hood up, a strawberry blond beard speckled with silver, and a sword at his side. The three had stood informally in a line looking down at the gathering. Later, in the evening, as guests had begun to wander off for rest, the man—brown eyes, heavy yet still shining—had asked to speak to Harding’s mother and her husband privately, to pay his respects to a “Hero from Ferelden.”
(if there is anyone I forgot to mention, they were also there, what do you think they were doing?) I had this idea for months but could only finish it now. I hate that it feels like it was meant to be harding, the sacrifice.

Propaganda
Clark Gable (Gone With the Wind, It Happened One Night)—There's no proof that Clark Gable stripping in It Happened One Night caused the sale of undershirts to take a nosedive, but there's also no proof that it didn't do that. And either way, him saucily undressing for bed in front of a woman who was married—not to him—is too deliciously scandalous to ignore. He deserves votes for this scene if nothing else. He got an Academy Award for this movie! He could play comedy just as well as drama, he earned medals for his bravery as a bomber gunner in WW2, he competed in car races, he has a great mustache and perfect eyebrows for sexy smirking, he's just HOT.
Sidney Poitier (Lilies of the Field, To Sir With Love)—an unbelievably beautiful man, a complete class act. Something about his eyes breaks my heart every time.
This is round 3 of the bracket. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage man.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut]
Clark Gable propaganda:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Listen, he was "the King of Hollywood" for a reason and a suave motherfucker. Also a Major in the air force during WWII!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"So Clark Gable was the king of Hollywood for a reason but honestly what makes him hot to me is his relationship with his wife Carole Lombard like if she loved him so she can't be wrong. Their relationship is so tragic like they met first when they filmed No Man of Her Own in 1932 and like there was nothing between them then but in 1936 they met again at a Hollywood party and this time things were different. Basically from that moment on they were inseparable and had to carry out their romance in secret until his divorce was finalized (he was separated when they met again at the party) and then they eloped in 1939 when he had a break during filming Gone With The Wind. They had a 20 acre farm together with horses, cows and chickens and they loved to do all those outdoorsy activities together. When they were apart for various work obligations they would send each other goofy gag gifts. In 1942 Carole was on a trip to sell war defense bonds when on the flight back home her plane crashed in the mountains of Nevada. Her death devastated Gable he flew to Nevada and demanded he be taken to the spot where the plane crashed despite the dangers posed by its location. Amongst the wreckage they found a hair clip he had given her for Christmas. Her death forever changed him he became more reckless and signed up for the US Army Air Corps in 1942 and he kept her bedroom unchanged in their home. He never stopped loving her when he died in 1960 he was buried next to her. I know Clark wasn't a perfect person and their is some speculation that she was racing home on that plane to him because she was worried that he was having an affair or something but relationships are complicated especially ones occurring in 1930s and 1940e Hollywood amongst two of the biggest starts at the time. (I just wanted to include this so ya know I'm not just looking at their relationship as all sunshine but like you can't deny the love they shared)
Tumblr media
"They had an ineffable quality in romance, the ability to have fun together... they were soulmates who thought life was delicious, and they made everyone's life delicious around them" -Esther Williams
Tumblr media
"GWtW is an epic stretching across years so Clark has a chance to show off a whole bunch of different sides, from Hot Outsider to Husband to Father and so on. But his most attractive is his final line of the movie, made only better by the story that he lobbied the Film Industry to ‘Let Rhett Curse!’ And who is more classic 30s Hollywood than this man?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Also apparently his name was Billy Gable then Glark Gable before finally landing on Clark Gable. A fact that I cant forget now glark gable lives in my mind now"

Oh look, another roleplay
Surprise surprise! We're doing another one yall! This time Summer Camp Edition! :D
Basically summer's back again and camp is IN SESSION >:D Regulus is going through the paces trying to keep everything afloat in his first year as camp director, and additional bumps in the road are the last thing he needs, thanks. So when his brother returns as a counselor after having left the camp for a good few years, it is the last thing he wants to deal with. Add on Tom Riddle's newfound interest in buying the property off of him for reasons unknown (and by that I mean i just don't feel like figuring it out), and you have a recipe for disaster.
So clearly, Pandora's going to hire another new counselor, James Potter, as well!
Shenanigans ensue and whatever whatever, it's just all very fun and exciting so yeah!

Where to get samples:
I personally recommend Luckyscent and Surrender to Chance for decants of brands that might be out of stock or don't offer samples. Most samples will be anywhere from $3 to $8 and these sites will often have sales, especially during the holidays.
Some places such as Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, Hexennacht, or The Strange South are partnered with Ajevie to provide samples.
Additional:
Fragrances more often than not are NOT cheap. I highly recommend tracking down a sample of whatever fragrance you want BEFORE spending the money to get a bottle. Always try fragrances in a small amount beforehand to make sure you have no reactions to the formula or scent, and wash it off quickly if you do. When wearing perfume oils, keep the area out of direct sunlight.

Being a waterbender living in the Earth Kingdom and meeting Team Avatar…
Tumblr media
Sokka x Male Waterbender!Reader
Warnings: None
Summary: While stocking up on supplies in a small village, team avatar finds a waterbender in an unlikely place…
——
Sokka’s pov:
Appa landed deep in the forest and Aang, Katara and Sokka started setting up camp for the night. Katara prepared their dinner as Aang and Sokka set up the tent and fed Appa and Momo.
”We’ll need to go to that village and stock up on more food we’re almost out, there’s barely enough for the three of us” Katara told the other two. ”There was a farm on the outskirts of town, I could go see if they have anything we could take” Sokka suggested.
”Sokka, you can’t just steal food, it’s for the towns people” Aang told him. ”Oh please, you saw how big the fields were, what’s a couple of vegetables? There will be plenty left, plus we need this food to get to the Northern Water Tribe so you can learn waterbending to save the world, I’m sure they’d want us to have their food” Sokka said standing up.
”I’ll be back soon” he said grabbing a small basket, walking in the direction of the farm. Once he reached it he stumbled over the fence on to the fields. Using a dagger to cut free a couple of vegetables and put them in the basket.
All of a sudden out of nowhere a blast of water knocked Sokka to the the ground making him drop the food basket. ”Katara?!” Sokka yelled but when he looked up he didn’t see Katara.
He was met with a pretty boy his own age with y/h/c hair and y/c/s skin, in a set of light jade green robes, that had water lilies embroided on them. He looked mad.
”What are you doing?” he asked in a dangerous tone. ”I-I-” Sokka tried but his voice got caught in his throat, he didn’t know what was more shocking that he found a waterbender in the northern parts of the Earth Kingdom or that he found him really attractive.
The boys face turned from stern annoyance, to a studying look as he looked Sokka up and down. ”Are-Are you from the Water Tribe?” the boy asked curiously. ”Yes” Sokka answered. ”Wow… I’ve never met anyone apart from mom from the Water Tribe…” the boy uttered.
”Are you from the North or South?” he asked. ”Southern Water Tribe” he answered more relaxed now that the look on you face wasn’t dripping with venom. Sokka then found some more courage to say ”Look, I’m sorry for stealing your crops, me, my sister and my friend are traveling and we’re almost completely out of food, if you want I can pay you for all this”.
The boy considered for a moment and then said ”Come with me, grab the basket”. Sokka did as told and followed the boy as he led him towards the farmer’s house, the two stopped outside and said ”Wait here”. As he went inside.
A few minutes later the boy came back out and put something in Sokka’s basket. A loaf of bread, some herbs, and a bottle of fruit juice. ”There you go, should make a nice meal” the boy said.
Sokka got confused but the boy spoke up again saying ”You know, me and my family like to house travelers when they pass through and it’s gonna get cold tonight, so if you need a place to sleep tonight just knock, okay?”.
Sokka was stunned, a couple of minutes ago he had just tried to steal from this family and now he was being offered a place to spend the night. ”Thank you” he found himself saying warmly. ”No worries” the boy said turning back towards the house.
”I’m Sokka” Sokka blurted not wanting the interaction to end just yet. The boy turned to him with a smile. ”I’m Y/n, hope to see you later, Sokka” he said and rentered the house.
”Wow” Sokka uttered quietly turning around making his way back to Katara and Aang. As they cooked the food they’d been given he explained eagerly to them about the boy. ”Are you sure he’s a waterbender and that he didn’t just throw a bucket of water at you?” Katare asked skeptical that there’d be a waterbender in this town.
”Yeah, he said his Mother was from the Water Tribe” Sokka insisted. Aang wrapped himself in a blanket. ”Maybe we should take him up on the offer, it’s starting to get chilly out here” Aang recommeded. Sokka agreed eagerly and Katara seemed curious about the idea of meeting another water bender.
Your pov:
There was a knock on the door and you went to open, being met with Sokka followed by another boy, a girl and a lemur. ”Glad you could make it, come in my mom just made some tea” you said and were introduced to Aang and Katara. And of course the lemur Momo.
You helped them get Appa in to the barn and they joined you inside. You sat down around the table as your mother served tea to you and your guests. ”Y/n? Sokka told us your a water bender, is that true?” Katara asked.
”Yeah, I am” you said showing her by lifting the tea out of your cup, before putting it back in. ”I’m not that good though, I don’t get much practice since the fire nation is always snooping around” you explained.
”Good enough to knock Sokka of his feet” Aang commented. ”It was a suprise attack!” Sokka defended himself making you, Aang and Katara laugh.
You conversed with the three for well over an hour, they had so many stories, Aang being the Avatar, how he met Sokka and Katara, them running from the Fire Nation multiple times. They’d had quite the long journey.
Your Father and Aang ended up in the barn as Aang wanted to see the farm animals, your Mother and Katara sat and discussed the Water Tribe. Leaving only you and Sokka…
”Would you like to see where you’ll be staying?” you asked him. ”Yeah, sure” he said. You led him to the guest room and told him ”This is the guest room, hope you’ll find it comfortable, if you need anything my room is right across”.
”If you don’t mind, I think I’m gonna get ready for bed” you said yawning and turned to your room but Sokka grabbed your hand and you turned back around. ”Thank you, for doing so much for us, it means a lot” Sokka said with a grateful smile.
”Anything for our fellow Water Tribe folk and the Avatar, Of course” you told him. You then said ”Goodnight” and opened the door to your room. ”Goodnight” Sokka said as you then disappeared in to your room.
He wanted to find a way to repay your kindness.
Next morning when you woke up you helped your mother in the kitchen with the breakfast. When you brought out the servings of food to the others you saw your father was eagerly conversing with Sokka.
Your father then spoke up and asked ”Y/n? Could you please show Aang and Katara around the village?”. ”Don’t you need me around the farm?” you questioned. Your father shook his head and said ”No, Sokka offered to do your work for today so you’d be able to take the day off and relax”.
”Oh! Well then I’d be honored to show you the village” you said with a smile and a small bow.
Once breakfast was finished you waited for Aang and Katara so you could leave for the village. You saw Sokka prepare for the days work at the farm.
”Thank you for taking over my work” you told him gratefully. ”It’s the least i could do after everything you and your family has done for us” Sokka said. You smiled as you looked in to Sokka’s eyes, it was like it only now dawned on you how handsome he was.
”You’re so pretty” Sokka uttered, catching you off guard making you think you’d heard him wrong. ”What?” you questioned. ”I-I mean… your robes are so pretty, you know, such a nice color and what are those? Water lilies? So nicely detailed” Sokka blabbed gesturing to the embroidered flowers on the bottom of your robes.
”Uhm… Thanks” you said still a bit stunned at the interaction.
Soon Katara and Aang arrived and you made your way to the village. You showed them around the different market stands, as they filled their baskets with food and supplies for their travels.
You even bought some treats that you snacked on in the middle of the town square, watching people at work and as they greeted they interacted with each other.
But soon the peace was broken as Fire Nation soldiers entered the village, Aang and Katara were quick to grab you and pull you in to an alley between two houses.
The leader of the Fire Nation soldiers moved to the front ”Where is the Avatar?! We’ve gotten word that last time he was spotted he was heading in the direction of this village”. The crowd stood silent.
”Well then if you don’t want to talk, then maybe we’ll have to show you what happens when you hold the truth from the Fire Nation” the leader said and his soldiers surrounded one of the market stands.
You could see Aang and Katara readying themselves for battle but you held up your hand to them and said ”Don’t”. Before you could explain the Fire Nation soldiers set the market stand a blaze.
Katara and Aang started running out of the alley but you grabbed them and pulled them both back. ”Don’t! We need to get you two back to the farm”.
”But they’ll destroy your village” Aang pleaded. ”No, they’re only trying to scare information out of us, they don’t know you were actually here” you told them and they gave you a questioning look.
”They’ll only want to destroy us if they knew you guys were here and we’ve been hiding it from them, but if they think you were never here then they’ll leave us alone” you explained.
You turned back to look at the leader of the soldiers as he told the crowd ”Tonight, after the assigned curfew we’ll search your houses and if we find a single sign the Avatar was here your village will suffer the wrath of the Fire Nation”. He then turned his back and he and his soldiers left the village.
You turned to Katara and Aang and said ”Go back to the farm, get Sokka and hide in the barn, we’ll have to figure out a way to smuggle you out without the Fire Nation seeing you you said.
You then walked out to the village square and water bended some of the water out of a fountain to help put out the market stand.
When you got back to the farm you went in to the barn where the Avatar and his friends were waiting as instructed. ”Were everybody in village alright?” Aang asked. ”Yes, they’re fine just a bit shaken” you told him.
”But we need to figure out how to get you guys out of here before the Fire Nation comes back” you stated. There was a moment of silence before Sokka said ”I have a plan”.
His plan was that when it turned dark he and the others would sneak deep in to forest with Appa, before taking off so that you and your family would not be found out with hiding them from the Fire Nation.
”Can I do anything to help?” you asked them. Sokka looked at you with a grateful smile and said ”You’ve already done more than enough for us, you should make sure to stay inside so you’re not seen, to keep you safe” he explained.
”Alright. It’s been really nice meeting you all. Good luck on your journey. I hope I’ll see you again sometime” you said giving them a polite bow, you then left them and made your way back to the house.
As the sun started to set you grew more and more worried the trio, what if they were caught by the Fire Nation, what would happen to them…
Once it was finally dark outside your heart was pounding all through dinner with your parents. You couldn’t take it anymore and as soon as you finished your dinner you went back to your room.
Only to almost scream when you opened the door, finding Sokka climbing through your window. ”Sokka?! What are you doing here?” you panicked. ”Don’t worry, we’re just about to leave, I just quickly wanted to stop by and talk to you” he said.
”About what?” you asked. ”I just needed to thank you again for what you’ve done for us and I wish I had more time to get to know you better cause you seem great” Sokka confessed taking your hand in his. You smiled.
”I wish we had more time too” you said making Sokka smile brightly too. ”Well then, why don’t you come with us, you can learn Waterbending with Aang and Katara up in the Northern Water Tribe too?” Sokka suggested impulsively.
”Sokka, I can’t, I’m needed here with my family and my village, at least for now” you told him, he looked down disappointment.
You then decided on impulse ”But I tell you what, when you guys are done up in the Northern Water Tribe and start traveling the Earth Kingdom, I’d love to join you guys, if you’ll have me”. Sokka frown then turned in to a small smile and he said ”It’s a deal”.
”You should get going now, the Fire Nation will be here soon” you told him. ”Right” Sokka remembered and turned back to climb out of your window. ”Oh and Sokka, one last thing” you said making him turn around. ”Yeah?” he asked and was answered as you placed a kiss on his cheek.
”Stay safe” you added. ”You too” he said planting a kiss on your cheek. He then climbed out of the window and ran off towards Aang and Katara who were trying to stealthily lead Appa in to the woods, hard as it might be. ”How’d it go?” Aang asked. To which Sokka could only reply ”He’s amazing”.

The Storms of Life Chapter 2
Warnings: None...just Tyler and team being sweet
Pairings: Tyler/F. Reader
Chapter 1
Tumblr media
Boone had choose to ride in the van with Lily, giving you room in the front seat and the kids in the back seat. Dexter and Dani followed behind.
“You guys like fireworks?” Tyler asked, peeking into the rear view mirror.
“Boom Boom!” Little Harley shouted.
“They're loud! And Cool!” Billy grinned.
“Ready for a show?” he flashed you a grin.
“You really are going to shoot fireworks off the back of your truck?” you asked.
“Yep. I normally shoot them off in a tornado.”
“You're crazy!” you laugh.
“I've been called worse.” Tyler shrugged with a smile.
Dani and Lily stopped their vehicles on the side of the road, “Here we GO!” Tyler make a sharp left and went flying though a open field stopping towards the middle of it.
“Alright...who wants to hit the BOOM button?” Tyler asked. “ME ME ME!” Both kids raised their hands and he laughed.
“Okay...here's what we will do.” he said. “You both come on up here in the front seat. One of you can sit with me and one of you with your mama.”
Billy crawled over to Tyler and settled in his lap while Harley wanted her mama. “Okay guys..get ready... You both are going to mash this button at the same time...then we're going to jump out of the truck to see the show...sound good?”
“Yeah!!” the kids giggled.
Billy put his hand over the red button first and little Harley put hers on top of her brothers. “one...two...BOOM!” Tyler called.
The kids mashed the button and Tyler and you jumped from the truck, each with one of the kids and watched the fireworks shooting off the truck. “AWESOME!” Billy danced around. “Pretty!” Harley smiled.
Tyler held Billy's hand as he walked over to you. “So...am I still crazy?” he asked.
“Yes!” You laugh, “I never thought anyone would even TRY to shoot fireworks off of their truck. And you do THIS in middle of a tornado?” you ask.
“Yep.” Tyler nodded.
“Boys...you all never grow up.” you laugh.
Tyler shrugged, “Maybe we just know how to have more fun.”
Once the fireworks were over he helped you secure the kids in the backseat again and opened the door for you.
“Thank you.” you nodded.
He jogged around to the drivers side and headed out the field, back to the road. “You guys are going to love my mom. Her name is Cindy. You guys like animals?” he asked.
“Yes...” both kids grinned.
“We have about a hundred acres. It was my granddad's farm and he passed it down to my dad. I suppose someday I'll be running it. We used to raise bulls for the rodeo, but after my dad passed, we just have our pets. Sometimes we might board horses here and there.”
“You live there now?” you asked.
“Yeah. My dad passed a few years back. It's just my mom and me now, so I help her whenever I am not out chasing.” Tyler turned into a long gravel driveway, “Well...here we are.”
He pulled up next to the front porch. Dani and Lily parked the other vehicles behind his truck.
Cindy was standing on the front porch waiting for you. Tyler got out and jogged over, opening the door for you and helping you out, then he opened the back door and lifted each kid out.
Four dogs meet you at the truck with wagging tails, “The shepherd is Flash because he's so fast. The blue heeler is Chase because he loves chasing everything..cats, chickens, goats...you name it. The yellow lab is Jake and the black lab is Bear. They'll all friendly dogs unless you are an animal that don't belong here. They protect the goats and chickens from the coyotes.” Tyler petted each dog as he introduced them.
“Mom, this is Y/N, Billy, and Harley.” he smiled. “Guys, this is my mom, Cindy.”
“Hello. Nice to meet you.” you smile.
“Hi Ms. Cindy.” Billy smiles at her.
“Hi.” Harley says shyly from behind your back.
“Well hello!” she greets you and the kids. “You know what...I was just fixing to make some cookies...who wants to help me?”
“Me!” Billy raised his hand.
“I like rocket rip wookies.” Harley smiled.
“Chocolate Chips are my FAVORITE!” Cindy smiled.
“Hey, if I help do I get cookies too?” Boone asked.
“YOU can have dinner if you help make it.” she shot Boone a playful look, “And I suppose a cookie too.”
“Hey, I am gonna show Y/N around a little bit.” Tyler said., “We'll be out in the barn if you need us.”
“You two go have fun. I'll bring the kids out to see the animals after the cookies are made.” Cindy shooed you and Tyler away with a wave of her hand.
“If you don't mind me asking...what happened to your house?” he asked softly, shuffling his feet on the ground as you two slowly walked to the barn.
“We used to have a little farm.” you tell him with a sigh. “It wasn't much, we had two horses, a dog, a few cats and some chickens. The kids aren't old enough to really remember it. After my husband and parents died I had to sell the farm. We couldn't afford the payments. My parents had a loan out on their house so it had to go to the bank. The life insurance just wasn't enough to save either house.” you fight back the tears. “We took the money we got and brought a house just outside of town...six months ago a tornado blew it away. There was nothing left.” you bite your lip and Tyler gives you a gentle hug, “I am so sorry. You didn't have insurance?” he asked softly.
You shook your head, “not nearly enough. A company called Storm Par came by and offered a cash offer. They said they were trying to help and I didn't know what else to do. I took the cash offer but it wasn't enough to get another house. A single parent working a dead end diner job I couldn't afford mortgage payments...so we got what we could fit into the car and that became our home.” silent tears rolled down your cheek. “Later on down the road, I found out that Storm Par pretty much stole the property. Even with the house gone, the property was worth a lot more then what they paid.” you wiped the tears away, “I love it here in Arkansas, I really do, but I just don't know what's right anymore. I married young, had children young, and now here I am a single mom, a widow, and homeless. What's next?”
Tyler offered you a smile, “You just need a few good friends to help you, that's all. It's takes a village to raise kids.”
“I need a village right about now.” you sigh.
“How about a handful of tornado wranglers?” he raised an eyebrow at you.
You shrug, “I'll take what I can get.”
“Great.” he stopped in front of a gate to the pasture. “How about this. I'll give you a ride into work tomorrow and just call me when your done with your shift. I don't expect to be out chasing storms tomorrow. Between all of us we can get you back and forth to work each day until you are able to get another car.”
“Thank you. That would be such a relief. They told me if I missed one day or was late again they would fire me. I definitely can't afford that.”
“Sounds like you may need a better boss.” he said.
“A better boss and a better job, but there's just nothing around here. I married just out of school and then life gets in the way. I never had the chance to go to college or anything.”
“Tell me...if you could do anything...what would be your dream job?” he asked, leaning against the fence rail.
“Photography.” you say without a second thought. “I used to love taking pictures.”
He nodded, “What did you take pictures of? People? Animals?”
“Everything! People, animals, flowers, storms, houses, even food.” you laugh.
“And you never got into photography, why?”
“Couldn't afford a camera, had to start work full time right out of school so never had time to devote to taking photos or taking classes or anything like that. It's like sometimes I wonder if there's life out there or has it already passed me by.”
You turn, hearing Billy and Harley yelling happily, “Mommy Mommy! We made cookies and had milk and now Ms. Cindy is gonna let us pet the horses!”
Laughing, you wrap your arms around your children hugging them close, “You know how I just said that I wondered if there's life out there?” you say looking up at Tyler. He nods and you smile, “This is it. These two little monsters here are my life...and I wouldn't trade them for the world.”
You and Tyler tag along behind his mom as she shows the kids each animal and even gives them a bottle to feed the goats with.
“So, have you always wanted to be a storm chaser?” you ask.
“No.” he said quickly. “I got started off in the rodeo. I was a bull rider. Then I got my head stomped on by one too many bulls and figured collage would be better for my brain.” he smiled, “I still wanted that thrill, that excitement. So I studied meteorology and met my team and then here we are. I love what I do, but definitely wasn't on my radar when I first started out.”
“Can we ride the horsey?” Harley was asking you with her big round eyes. “I love the horsey.”
“What one is your favorite?” Tyler scooped her up in his arms as you both walked over to where the horses were. “Dat one!” She pointed at a paint with one blue eye and one brown eye. “We call that one Baby.” he said. “She's a real gentle horse.”
“I love this one.” Billy was hugging the muzzle of a large black horse. “That there is Tucker. He's a good boy too.” Tyler said petting the side of the horses neck. He pointed to a tan horse out in the field, “That one there is Denver. He's older and a bit more shy, but very gentle.” he turned and looked at you, “You said you had horses at one time...did you ride?”
“Been a few years.” you answer.
“It's like riding a bike, you never forget.” he chuckled, “What you say we take the kids for a ride?”
“Can we mommy? Can we?” the kids started begging.
“I guess so, if it's okay with Mr. Tyler and Ms. Cindy.”
“You guys go have a good time. I am going to help Boone and the guys get some burgers and hot dogs on the grill.”
“Let's go.” Tyler handed you the reins for each horse and you were showing the kids how to put them on while he got the blankets and saddles.
“Harley, since you like Baby so much, would you like to ride with your mama on Baby?”
She nodded with a big smile. Tyler double checked the saddle and made sure it was tightened good, then held the reins while you placed Harley in the saddle, then pulled yourself up in one quick motion.
He handed you the reins then scooped Billy up in his arms, “It's you and me on Tucker. Is that okay with you buddy?”
Billy nodded leaning over to pet the horses long mane. Tyler placed him gently in the saddle then swung up himself, grabbing up the reins.
He made sure to keep the horses side by side as he lead you though the pasture and to a field of wildflowers. “It's peaceful out here.” he said, “I like to ride out here sometimes just to clear my mind.”
“It's beautiful.” you say.
“Can we pick some flowers for mommy's birthday?” Harley asked.
“When's mommy's birthday?” Tyler asked with a sly grin, looking from you to your daughter and back again.
“I...um...I think tomorrow?”
You laughed lightly, “No sweetie, it's not tomorrow. It's Friday, and I don't need any flowers. How about you draw me a picture?” you ask.
“Are you still gonna spend the day with us like you told our baby sitter?” Billy asked.
“Oh honey, I don't know right now, okay? We'll see how things go, but just as soon as I can I will spend the whole day with you. That's all I want for my birthday.”
“You know what.” Tyler said stopping his horse, “I think we need to pick your mama some wildflowers for her birthday now. Then maybe tomorrow you guys draw a picture?”
“Yeah! Thank you Mr. Tyler.” Harley smiled.
“There's no need for picking the flowers.” You protested, even as Tyler was already off his horse and lifting Billy down. “Sure we do.” he grinned, taking Harley from you and holding the reins while you dismounted.
He stood next to you as you both watched the kids running around picking all the flowers they wanted. “I loved growing up here. It was such freedom. Such peace and quite.” he said quietly. “I thought the whole entire world was at my back door.”
“I've always lived in the country.” you said. “I grew up on a little farm too. I don't like cities. Too big, too noisy. I can't hear my self think.”
“Ain't that the truth.” he grinned.
“Okay, we got flowers.” both kids came running back with a handful each.
“They are beautiful.” you hug each one and give them a quick kiss on the cheek, then turn to Tyler. “Thank you for this. You didn't have to do any of this. You have completely taken their mind off of everything that has happened and put them more at ease, gave them a little bit of normalcy in this chaos. How can I ever repay you?” you ask.
“Oh, I don't know.” he shrugged, lifting Harley up into the saddle and waiting for you to mount the horse before handing the reins back to you. He placed Billy back in the saddle and swung up, turning the horse around and you both start heading back towards the house at a slow walk.
“Maybe consider coming to work for me?” he asked after a moment.
“W..what?” you stumbled.
“You said you wanted to be a photographer, right?”
“Yeah, but I don't have any training...”
“Naw, I don't believe in that training crap. No one on my team has a former education, but they got more experience then any storm chaser out there. I could use a photographer on the team. Just get the shots. Boone and Lily handles the videos, but we can always use stills to sell. Also you have a vast amount of experience. You can post to our YouTube channel with support and advice to help others who are facing what you already faced. You've lost two homes, your husband, and your parents. All from a tornado. You know what a rip off Storm Par. You can bring comfort and support to people that we can't. You can reach out to people across the world on You Tube with your story.”
“I don't have a camera or anything. And I don't know who would even care to hear my story. It's just one of many.” you start.
“If you come to work for my team, then it's my responsibility to provide a camera. You'd be surprised at who would want to hear your story and how many people you can help with it. You have actually experienced this, and maybe you could put a dent in Storm Par's scam game.”
“I can't be on the road so long. I can't leave the kids.”
Tyler nodded, “I know and I wouldn't ask you to. We'll talk to my mom and I am sure she'd be happy to watch the kids when you are gone, but we will stay just within a few hours. Even if the team and I travel further away, I'll make sure you are home every night with the kids. What do you say? Wanna join the team?”
“What's the pay like? I don't think it can get much worse then the diner, but I am going to need a another car and I need to start saving to try and find a place to rent or something. I most defiantly can't take any kind of pay cut or lack of work.”
“Let me talk to my team tonight and see what we can come up with, okay? I'll make you an official job offer by tomorrow.”
“Sounds like a good plan to me. Thank you, for even considering me.” you smile
“No problem.”
The rest of the ride was in silence.
“I am going to get the horses put up.” Tyler said, “Then after dinner would it be okay if I took you to the store and got a few things that you will need for the kids?” he asked.
“I couldn't ask you to do that. We'll be okay.” you protest.
“Hey...it's okay to get a little help. It takes a village, remember? You pretty much lost everything you owned in a tornado. Let me help with a few things. Some clothes, toys, things like that.”
“I'll pay you back, for everything.”
“Don't worry about it.” he smiled, “we'll work something out later.”
“Thank you. You are like a angel sent from heaven or something.” you hold back the tears that threatened to fall. No one has ever reached out to help you like this and you truly were grateful.
Tyler laughed, “Oh I know plenty of people that will disagree with you on that one.”
“Y/N...bring the kids and come on over here!” Cindy was calling to you, “I've got those rooms ready for you.”
“Go ahead, I'll meet you at the house in a few.” Tyler smiled, watching you and the kids walk up to the house. 'What the hell has that tornado blew into my life.' he thought grinning. Things just felt so natural with you and he couldn't explain it. It felt like you belonged here.
“My room is downstairs,” Cindy was showing you and the kids around the house. “There's the kitchen, dining room, and living room. The washer and dryer is right behind that door there.” she pointed and lead you upstairs.
“Tyler's room is on the far end of the hall and there's a bathroom next to his room. There's two other bedrooms on this end with a bathroom.” she was explaining. “When they first got started, the team used to sleep here, so there's two twin beds in each room. I've cleaned them up, put fresh sheets on each bed, and got the bathroom cleaned for you. You and the kids can have your own bathroom down here on this end.”
“I wouldn't want to take the rooms away from the team.” you started.
“Oh no, you wouldn't be. That was a few years ago when they were just getting formed. Everyone has their own place within about an hour or so from here now. They don't stay here over night anymore. They take whatever chance they can to go back home between the storms.”
“Thank you so much.” you smile, giving a hug to Cindy. “How much am I going to owe you for all this?”
“Oh dear, don't worry about that. Maybe you can help me around the house with the animals and cleaning, cooking, and stuff. When you aren't working that is. I'll be happy to keep the kids here with me when you're working. You won't owe me a thing for that. This big old house gets empty when I am here all alone. Frankly, I am going to enjoy the company.”
“I'll be happy to help anywhere I can.” you promise. “Thank you so much again. I don't know what we would have done if Tyler didn't come by at just the right time or if you weren't kind enough to open your home to us.”
“We all need somebody, sweet girl.” Cindy patted your back, “Come on now. Let's eat!”
* * * * *
After dinner, everyone helped clean up and then the rest of the team headed off to their own homes for a few days before the next storm system developed. Cindy had offered to watch the kids and get them ready for bed while Tyler took you to the store and picked up some things that would be needed in the foreseeable future.
“Mr. Tyler, this is too much.” You were saying as he loaded two car seats into the shopping cart, which was already filled with clothes, boots, toys, bath stuff, and various kinds of drinks and snacks.
“You can call me Tyler, you know.” he smiled at you, “We are friends now...I would think.”
“We are.” you agreed, “But this is all too much.”
“It's all things you need. You and the kids need pajamas to sleep in, you need several changes of clothes for the week, you need brushes and bubble bath and things like that. Things guys know nothing about, but I know you need it.” he smiled. “It's not safe nor legal to drive without the kids in a car seat. You've GOT to have a car seat if we take them anywhere. The kids will need snacks and juice boxes and things like that. They are going to need several toys. Not just one, but they need several to choose from.”
“They've done without for a while now. We're used to it. We can get by until I get on my feet again.”
“I know you guys can get by and I know you can get on your feet again.” he said, “Let me help you along the way though. This is just some stuff to get you settled into mom's house for a while. That's all.”
You nod and wrap your arms around him in a hug, “Thank you Tyler. You really are a life savior.”
“No problem. I am happy to help out.” he said, “That's how my mama raised me.”

Note
Was Severus smarter or more powerful than Sirius or James? We know he fought back but did he ever manage to back up his courage or did he do it simply out of pride and hate? We know he was powerful, I mean Voldemort taught him how to fly, but if Sirius never went to Azkaban could these two rival each other? I would love for Snape to actually be slightly more stronger or smarter than these two but canon doesn’t really prove that.
I think people sometimes forget that Sirius and James came from pure-blood families. That means they came from a magical lineage of generations, and from the moment they were born, they were surrounded by magic. They were raised in the wizarding world; their parents and relatives used magic all the time, their cultural references were purely magical, their environments were magical, and everything they knew revolved around magic. This already gave them an advantage over any classmate who didn’t come from the same background. What many had to learn from scratch, they probably already knew because they had seen it at home (basic spells, basic potions, basic charms, and even magical history).
It’s like if, for example, I wanted to dedicate myself to horseback riding but had never been around horses, and when I signed up, I had a classmate who not only had talent for riding but also had grown up on a horse farm and had been around them since birth. Logically, that person would have an advantage over me.
I think James and Sirius were talented and powerful wizards, but I also believe that, academically, they had an advantage over those who didn’t come from a magical family and/or cultural background. They must have already known many things that others didn’t, which is why, as mentioned in the books, in some subjects they barely had to try to pass or get good grades. For example, I came from a very intellectual family and read advanced philosophy books for my age because my parents instilled that in me. As a result, I excelled in those kinds of subjects without having to study or pay much attention in class. Did I have talent for it? Yes, but I also had a solid foundation on the topic that others didn’t.
I believe Severus was a genius, and I think this because there is genius in creating your own spells and especially in being able to take a textbook and literally correct and improve it as a teenager. I also think that his talent was probably on par with James and Sirius, but he likely lacked the foundational tools and therefore had to work harder than they did because he grew up in a Muggle environment, in a house ruled by a Muggle father. As much as he knew more about magic than Lily, for example, I highly doubt he knew more than Sirius, which would be illogical considering their backgrounds.
Perhaps as teenagers, they were ahead of him due to that same advantage, in the same way that I believe they were more talented in practical matters while he was better at theoretical and intellectual things.
Clearly, the 33-year-old Severus is more powerful than the post-Azkaban Sirius because Sirius has a significant setback from being locked up for so long. If they had been on equal footing, would they have been equals? It’s hard to say, honestly. I also think it depends a lot on their strengths and what they excelled at. I don’t see Sirius or James being better than him in Occlumency, Legilimency, or Potions, even if they had lived normal lives, but I also don’t see Severus being better than them in Transfiguration, for example.
In that sense, I think it also depends on their talents and interests as wizards and in what fields they developed. I do think he would have been a rival and that, in a one-on-one fight, it would have been pretty difficult to knock him out. I also believe that Severus had to hold back a lot at Hogwarts, mainly to avoid being expelled, but in a free fight and on equal footing, with no risk of going to Azkaban, would he have left them half-dead? He probably would have surprised more than one person.

My ultimate fic recs
Made a poll and a lot of people said they would want this sooo here we are! These are the best fics I’ve read (: The og post
Top 3
1- To Be Alone With You By Shay_Fae
In the summer of their sixth year, Remus Lupin tried to kill himself.
2- Something Just Like This By shadow_prince
a fake dating modern AU where Sirius has been telling Mrs. Potter he's dating someone for 9 months and she demands his "boyfriend" comes on their family vacation. Queue: shenanigans between wolfstar and jily as they lie their asses off.
3- Text Talk By merlywhirls/mssrsmoony on ao3 or @juuuuzou on here.
Sirius is in boarding school, Remus is in hospital, and they don't know each other until Sirius texts the wrong number.
Other recs bellow break (in no order)
Wading in waist high water By @colgatebluemintygel
Remus is a PhD student and hobbyist baker who finds himself adrift following his father’s death. On a whim, he enters the Great British Bake Off and is swept up in a flurry of curdled custard, shrunken souffle, and under-proved dough. Remus expects to be challenged and to embarrass himself on public television. What he doesn’t account for are the friendships he develops with the other contestants and the deep connection he forms with his teenage crush, Sirius Black: charming ex-boy band member and Bake Off host
Beneath a big blue sky by @eyra
The four-by-four heaves its way down long, twisting lanes, little more than dirt tracks scuffed into the surrounding fields and hemmed in by serpentine walls of flat, grey stone. They truly are in the middle of nowhere: the countryside rushes past, all rolling green hills and vast, endless skies, and it's odious. Sirius wants to murder James with his bare hands. Sirius and James accidentally find themselves on a Yorkshire farm during lambing season. The farmer’s son thinks that’s a bit annoying, actually.
A brief history of dragons by @eyra
It's lovely up here; all meadows dotted with wildflowers, wind-beaten tracks criss-crossing this way and that through the fields, weaving inland to the pinewoods. The sun's hot on his back as he passes ramshackle stone walls, long since crumbled to piles of ancient rubble and scree, and then the path winds downwards, still following the line of the coast until Sirius finds himself outside an old white cottage, tucked away behind the hill with a rose garden that faces out to the sea. Sirius moves to Cornwall for the summer and meets a rude, beautiful boy who is writing a book that may or may not be about dragons
Let’s play pretend by MsAlexWP on ao3 but @languagelessonswolfstar on here
After James and Lily died, Sirius Black's therapist told him not to date for a year. And that's just as well. He's got a 13-month-old baby now and quite enough to deal with, thanks. But the nosy neighbors in his building keep trying to set him up and won't take no for an answer. Enter Remus Lupin, another single dad who pretends to be Sirius's boyfriend, just to get the old lady brigade off his back and nothing more. Nothing more at all.
Forever in a state of mind by orphan_account
Deaf Dance Choreographer, Remus Lupin, has a simple life. Working, taking care of his son, and running his YouTube sign channel. When he unwittingly becomes involved with Deaf Pride Activist, Fleamont Potter, he doesn't realise how much his life will change. Especially after he meets YouTube star and makeup artist, Sirius Black.
Sugar rush by Stricklymarauders
James, Sirius, Peter, and Dorcas have been best friends for years and are starting their senior year of highschool. To Sirius' dismay he doesn't have any friends in his history class, but after eventually showing up, he finds he sits next to a tall curly hair boy who takes his breath away, Remus Lupin. He decided right then and there that he must make this boy fall in love with him and recruits James to be his wingman, until James is distracted by Remus' best friend with a personality as fiery has her hair, Lily Evans.
Dating Remus lupin by Children_of_the_Shadow
Remus Lupin is a mystery to the whole school; the boy who's quiet, aloof, and cold. He also happens to be queer, which is enough to gain Sirius's interest. What Sirius never realised that dating Remus Lupin wasn't quite as easy as it looked.
Blends by rvltn909
Words got in the way sometimes, but Remus got the sense Sirius knew what he was trying to say. Another coffee shop au.
Camp Casanova by Farquad on ao3 but I believe @lord-levi on here.
All lonely 11 years old Remus Lupin wants is a friend. But when he arrives at Slughorn's summer camp for teenage boys his world turns upside down since he finds himself sharing a cabin with three other boys; James Potter, Peter Pettigrew and Sirius Black. As the years pass by Remus finds himself birthing friendships, fighting bullies, but above all battling his own feelings which soon gets out of control. He struggles to keep his biggest secret, and he wonders how he could've fallen so deeply in love.
Turn on my charm by Bethanlovescoffee on ao3 but @bethansfandoms on here ❤️ (all of their fics are worth the read honestly)
Sirius Black is a YouTube phenomenon. A YouTube phenomenon who develops a crush on his video editor.

prompt : angel

title : my beloved's
Tumblr media
Pandora has known an angel.
One, just one – and that was one too many.
The girls and clouds pitied her loneliness, said it was hallucination, that she was ill – but Pandora knew better. She’d been chosen. She was worthy – worthier than the girls and women and pastors – worthy because she’d been chosen to see the bringer of light.
Pandora saw the angel first on the pews in church. A soft white dress just below her knees, hands folded, chin up as she listened to the sermon.
“I am my beloved’s,” the pastor said, the angel looked back, “and my beloved is mine.”
It was the first time Pandora had understood the word devotion.
She decided, then and there, as an eleven year old, that she would devote herself to that shimmering being cloaked in white.
In her dreams, the angel sought her out again. Pandora was in an endless field going up in flames, the fire rising to Pandora’s ankles, then her ill-fitting jeans, then her stained shirt. She didn’t burn – not yet.
Mary stood there. Mary – she’d always known what she was named, Pandora realized then, it always had seemed to be on the tip of her tongue. Mary stood in the same white dress.
Older, more solemn.
“I did this,” she said – mouthed, but Pandora had heard her anyway. Mary’s voice was smoke and wood and dry rope and fallen leaves.
Pandora had felt the fire catching on her dress, seen as the flames climbed up her hair, stood still and stared and stared till she had burned down and came awake in her bed.
She remembered, though. Mary, statue-still, as flames came up around her. She remembered the fire illuminating her skin. A warm orange, her honey-brown eyes burning amber. She replayed the scene, again and again, and Mary melted, skin falling off in clumps till there stood a demon with wings.
Wings.
When had she gotten wings?
Everyday she saw her after that, she had wings – massive, serrated wings, not feathery and soft like she’d always imagined, but something akin to steel, to bone, something that sliced the air. They belonged to her – half muscle, half holy.
The girls in the neighbourhood said that she’d been acting strange, “stranger than usual, I mean,” Lily Evans had said to her sister last Friday, quiet enough to act as if she hadn’t wanted Pandora to listen. It was fine, though – Pandora paid them no mind. She was preoccupied.
She saw her angel everywhere – in the grocery store, behind the bakery, in her room. When she sat on the swings at dawn she felt Mary’s presence. When she looked at herself in her mother’s mirror, Mary smiled through it.
It took her a month and two weeks to realize who Mary was, sitting alone in a sweltering hot room and watching three ants discover cake crumbs. The MacDonalds’ daughter – of course! Pandora stood up, so quick she made herself dizzy– they’d left town, but Mrs MacDonald still lived there, feeding the flowers near her daughter’s grave.
She ran, not stopping even to put her shoes on, her soles dark and bruised by the time she stood on the gravel before the MacDonald farm. Pandora remembered the rumours. When Mary died, no one came near the house for weeks – they said Mary had done it to herself, that just touching the dried grass would make you the sinner Mary had been. Pandora forgot it all, raining heavy fists on their front door.
No one disturbed Mrs MacDonald much, anymore, not after she’d lost her daughter and family, and she came out looking startled– “Pandora? What in Lord’s name are you doing?”
“Mary!” she burst out, out of breath, “I saw Mary– We’re friends, now! She’s back– she’s older– I see her everywhere! She was in the church, last I checked, she’s–”
Mrs MacDonald’s mug dropped. Heavy as it was, it didn’t break, but made a loud thud that silenced Pandora.
“Mary?” she whispered, voice breaking.
“Yes! I saw her, ma’am, I did!”
“Get off my porch,” she repeated incredulously.
“But–”
“Is this a joke?” she screamed, sudden, angry, “Is this what you and your little friends do for fun?”
Now, this was shocking.
Why would Pandora joke about this? Why wouldn’t the woman believe her?
Mrs MacDonald suddenly didn’t sound so angry anymore, she sounded wrecked.
“No, I don’t– I didn’t– She’s there, come with me and I’ll show you! Don’t you want to see Mary again?”
The slap came fast.
A loud crack that connected with her face, the red blossoming on her cheek as soon as it felt the impact. Pandora stumbled, looking up at Mrs MacDonald as she slammed the door in her face, eyes burning red.
The gravel bit her feet on the walk back, her cheek pulsed with heat.
At home, Mary wouldn’t visit. Mum was mad. The girls’ whispers turned into conversations that happened just a few meters away. They thought it was a joke – a cruel joke that Pandora had played on Mrs MacDonald, but Pandora couldn’t help but feel as though she was the one who got played.
She didn’t see Mary for a week. On Sunday, when her place was empty, was when she realized something must be wrong. Mary never missed church.
In her mother’s mirror when she was out, she whispered: “Mary?”
She felt something – a breeze, tasted smoke.
Yes, Mary was here.
“I’m coming.” she said quietly, “I’m ready to be with you now.”
Two days later, at the funeral service, they all cried.
Mrs MacDonald came out of her house; her mother screamed and held her stomach, Lily Evans whispered well, this isn’t a surprise quiet enough to act as if she hadn’t wanted Pandora to listen.
But Pandora only heard nine words:  “I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine.”

@jilychallenge || Winter In June || Partner: @elliemarchetti || Western AU
Prompt: Oh no! We got wet! However will we warm each other? Oh! By using body heat, ofc!
Fic Playlist Read on A03
4:35am
It was almost sunup.
James had been planning on leaving, thinking it was what they both wanted, until she stripped down with him and jumped into the frigid lake. Her red hair glistened with water droplets as she ran back to the bonfire, screeching about the chill of the morning air. James lingered in the cold water, letting it bite his skin until he couldn't feel it anymore.
He loved her, that was all he knew now.
When he joined Lily by the fire, his pale skin was prickling. She quickly shared her warm woolen blanket around his shoulders, drawing him close. Under the midnight blue sky, her emerald eyes still shined, her chin tilted up towards him, offering that wild smile he had fallen for just a week ago.
"Don't go back to Florida," she pleaded, "stay here, in Colorado, with me."
"What about Snape's company?" James asked, "who will keep them from buying the land out from under you?"
"But who will keep me warm if you go?"
James touched her wet hair, tucking it behind her ear, and leaned down to kiss her. She tasted like the syrup they had poured on their pancakes. His lips had grown accustomed to hers. They hadn't been able to stop kissing since their first kiss on the field three days ago. He moaned and dug his fingers into her hips when she opened wider to catch his lower lip and tug it between her teeth.
Despite the warmth of their sweet kiss, she had began to shiver a lot and stopped kissing him to pull on her thick socks and tan boots under the blanket, her hot breath like fire on his skin. She grabbed her underwear next, sliding it over her boots, then added her bra, much to James' disappointment.
James followed her lead, awkwardly putting his socks and boots back on. He also grabbed his plaid shirt, the one he'd stolen from the barn hand upon arriving and realizing his suits wouldn't cut it on the working farm. James pulled his underwear on over his boots, noting his wet skin probably made it harder to get dressed, but he didn't care cause he was freezing.
"Get back under here." Lily opened her arms wide, the blanket fanning out with her like a cloak.
James practically ran back into her arms, letting the warm blanket envelop them both. He guided her backwards so they could fall onto the log they'd been sitting on before she had suggested they go skinny dipping during a game of truth or dare.
The fire crackled beside them, casting flickering shadows on their faces. As they settled onto the log, the warmth of the flames and the blanket created a cozy cocoon, shielding them from the chill of the night. Her body adjusted, Lily using her legs to lift herself into a straddle until she was pressed against him, and he could feel her shivering begin to subside.
"I promise the lake is much more enjoyable in the summer." She told him as she brushed his hair from his eyes.
James looked into her eyes, a tenderness shining in them that had been there since day one. “You’re crazy, you know that?” he said, a playful smile tugging at his lips.
She laughed, the sound like music to his ears. “It was your idea to play truth or dare,” she teased, her breath visible in the cold air. “I just made it interesting.”
“I can’t argue with that,” he replied, his fingers tracing the outline of her face. “My testicles might have frostbite though."
"Oh boo, you poor baby." Her smile was suddenly wicked. "Want me to warm them back up?" Her eyes teased, but her hand placement on his thigh said something else.
James let his nose meet hers, shuddering a bit when her hand passed over his lap suggestively. "You know, you don't have to convince me to stay that way.”
Her smile faded slightly, replaced by a more serious expression. “I know. But I want to show you what life could be like here. A good life. With me.”
James’s heart swelled at her words. He had come to Colorado looking to just help save another farm threatened by cooperate America, never expecting to find someone like Lily. She was wild and free, a breath of fresh mountain air. She was everything he didn’t know he needed, and now he didn't know how to keep her and save the farm...without possibly losing her when she realized what she'd have to do.
“I don’t want to go back,” he admitted softly, his forehead resting against hers. “Not if it means leaving you behind.”
Tears welled up in her eyes, but she blinked them away, her smile wavering. “Then don’t leave me behind.”
He kissed her again, the feel of her lips like coming home. Her hands clung to him, as if afraid he might disappear. He pulled back slightly, looking into her eyes with determination.
"I love you."
"Whatever, cowboy," she teased, ruffling his hair and kissing him long and deep.
“I’m serious, Lily.” James said once they broke apart.
Lily's eyes shadowed for a moment before she said just as seriously, "then don't leave."
