Thinking about the "you are my captain luffy, and im your first mate" line and uhh, remember when luffy first asked zoro to become a part of his crew? while untying the ropes, zoro said to luffy something along the line "you can untie me, but i'm still not gonna be part of your crew", and he was all like "i mean it!", and then later luffy also asked nami to join his crew, but of course she rejected him too.
Anyway, later (after teaming up with nami first then zoro second) luffy told morgan that they are a crew (just luffy being luffy), but zoro and nami of course refuted his statement. Not just once though, after defeating morgan and the other marines, nami and zoro pulled out the "not a crew" statement simultaneously after the "im sensing a little bit of tension amongst the crew" line from luffy.
So like i cant help but think about how zoro and nami technically kinda joined at the same time? And not just that, but nami's actually the first person that luffy teamed up with! And this got me thinking, zoro what makes you think that you are luffy's first mate? I get if animanga zoro wanted to call himself luffy's first mate, but opla zoro? Like anyway all im trying to say is that opla zoro is a self proclaimed first mate, i said what i said.
Also i'd like to add something from what i've read somewhere about first mate and:
"First mate is the vice captain and is not necessarily the first person to join. A first mate is appointed after a sizeable crew is formed and the captain picks the most suitable person to lead his crew in his absence."
AND REMEMBER THE "you just got here you don't know what luffy needs" line from zoro??? luffy said that he needed zoro. Zoro heard what he said. This man is just ready to commit for life. He picked himself as the first mate like a champ, as he should.
EDIT: after rewatching opla i just realised that nami used the first mate phrase not only once but twice (when talking to/abt zoro). But i still think that zoro is a self proclaimed first mate, cuz first mate should've been chosen by the captain and they (luffy & zoro) never really talked about it so i stand by what i said:D
#Like i get that zoro naturally becomes a part of straw hat crew#like there's no official moment as clear as the one in the anime or manga when zolo agrees with luffy to join his crew#but like the lack of 'officially joining the crew' moment is what makes the “im your first mate” line from zoro CRAZIER to me#roronoa “im your first mate okay? from now till the end. get used to it.” zoro#luffy couldnt be happier though#zolu#luzo#monkey d. luffy#roronoa zoro#one piece#one piece live action#opla#im overthinking and reaching about zolu again whats new?#pulling the shane “ive connected the two dots” madej move#or not really

summary: he didn't mean to push you away so harshly, to build his walls so high, but he didn't expect you to go running to someone else... pairing: zoro x reader, slight law x reader cw: unrequited feelings (or are they?), angst, no comfort an: set in wano, with some minor tweaks! thought of this last night and had to share my pain...oops also, i plan to have some fluffy straw hat stuff out this weekend ♡( ◡‿◡ ) wc: 3.4k
you'd been harboring feelings for your vice captain, for a while. you never acted on it, his aloof nature making you too nervous to make that jump- to try. even then, you were sure that he had more pressing matters to attend to.
so, you kept it under wraps. you trained and laughed and did everything you were supposed to, did everything right, without letting your feelings get too much in the way. it was manageable, and it made you feel good that you could support your crew, even if it meant holding onto your feelings.
it was the little things that gave you away to him. how your eyes darted away a bit too quickly when he met your gaze, how you sometimes intentionally stood farther away from him in a bid to look inconspicuous, even though it made it so much more obvious. he was as dumb as a rock sometimes, yeah, but not when it came to his crew, not when it came to you. he knew. of course he knew, but he had no reason to call you out on it. clearly you didn't want to discuss it and, as long as it wasn't getting in the way of anything major, he could bear it. it was when your emotions served as a distraction, that things became complicated.
the land of wano brought with it many challenges. most where physical, be it sneaking around the shady capital or handling some rowdy criminals. having crew members split up also made you worried, only heightening your senses and making your brain run rampant with what ifs. it all comes to a sudden standstill when you and brook, on your way to the safe house, walk in on zoro. one of the most beautiful women you've ever seen is snuggled right into his side and you feel a twinge of envy.
your heart does a somersault in your chest, something twisting in your gut at the unusual sight. a part of you, the rational side, knows very well that zoro didn't let people into his personal space with such ease. yet, even with her explanation, your mood can't help but sour. it only worsens when you all sit down and discuss more pressing matters.
the stresses of wano, this whole hiyori situation and her ever present enthusiasm towards the swordsman has you itching to escape. your responses become curt and your hands twitch in your lap. it's not how you should be acting, not given the circumstances, but you can't help it. finally, when there's a break in the conversation, you politely dismiss yourself.
once outside, you take a deep breath and collect your thoughts. leaning against the wall of the safe house, you let out a sigh and stare off at some random point in the distance in a bid to quell your passive aggressive behavior. the sound of the door opening catches you off guard, your arms crossing over your chest as the swordsman approaches you with a hardened expression.
"the hell is up with that look on your face?" he'd grumble, his cold demeanor matching the chill in the air. his arms are crossed, his posture tense. while zoro was one to take things as they came, focusing on the present, he couldn't deny that wano and its secrets were gnawing at him as well. he was irritated, wondering why you'd even bother to think about something as miniscule as feelings while there were enemies and actual threats lurking about. when you don't answer, when he figures you wouldn't even have the guts to bring it up, he huffs. "you think I asked to be cuddled up to like a damn toy?" his eye narrows and he takes a step closer, challenging you. "I don't have feelings for her, or anyone, got it?" the lump in your throat is too large to swallow and you nod, incapable of much else. a torrent of sensations swirl in your chest: embarrassment that he'd been aware of your feelings this whole time, guilt for letting them get in the way, and a bitter resounding sting that came with rejection. with a click of his tongue, he turns back and heads into the safe house, mumbling something about pulling yourself together and focusing on what's important.
you're almost glad when zoro ends up splitting off with hiyori later on, your mind flooded with thoughts. in a bid to defend yourself from further pain, you get your act together and squash down those feelings. you do well to put on a brave and happy face, deciding that, yes, there are some more important matters to attend to.
despite that, it's still hard not to see the samurai a bit differently. you knew he was blunt, even harsh at moments, but his approach to such a sensitive topic was a little much for you to handle. even if his words held some truth, that there were more pressing matters to attend to, the delivery of it just made you feel uneasy and hurt. the rest of your encounters are just as quick, your words just as clipped. if you acted any differently towards him, it wasn't out of malice. subconsciously, you defend yourself from further embarrassment and give him the distance you think he needs. while the chaos ensues, your defense mechanism only serves as a temporary solution. once the dust settled, it would be a different story.
finally, when the horrors of wano are dealt with, you can breathe a minor sigh of relief. in the flower capital, alongside your crew mates, you patiently wait for luffy and zoro to awaken from their slumbers. when they finally do, the air feels lighter
in the wake of it all, your emotions catch up to you, which makes you feel worse since this was supposed to be a joyful moment. it's hard to fight that initial instinct, to head over to zoro and ask if he's alright or if he needs anything. yet, you force yourself to take a step back, even if it does look like his bandages need tending to. it's a lot easier to do so once hiyori reveals that she was the one to help bathe him while he was unconscious, your stomach churning as you look away and walk to a different corner of the room. clearly he had someone looking out for him already. with a polite and slightly forced smile on your face, you find yourself heading over to law, who sits in the corner and chooses to observe the moment rather than partake in any conversation. you'd gotten along well with the surgeon, your relationship only growing stronger as he spent more time with the straw hats. he respected your skills and your perceptiveness, your ability to adapt to the needs of those around you and make them feel at ease. when he hears you approaching, he's naturally wary, but relents and gives you a nod, saying your name as a way of greeting you. satisfied, you take a seat next to him and raise a hand to gesture at his arm. "I know you're a surgeon and all, but d'ya think I can help you with your bandages?" you ask him, sincere and with a soft smile. "y'know, before this whole alliance thing is over and all..." he wants to say no, but the genuine kindness in your eyes has him huffing and looking away. a reddish hue tinges his cheeks and he holds out his arm. "go ahead." his tone fights to maintain its usual indifference, though there's a hint of appreciation laced in. on the opposite side of the room, where hiyori 'fixed' his bandages much too tight, zoro glances over at you. he notes the way you visibly relax around the surgeon, an action that has him growing irritated. he was your crew mate, your nakama, someone who would keep you safe, not that second rate captain. when the bandages cut off his circulation, he growls in frustration and tears some of them off. why weren't you over here doing this for him, when you knew exactly how he liked his bandages? why were you tending to law so gently and giving him that smile, the one you hadn't given him in ages? the swordsman isn't blind. he's been aware of the distance you've put between the two of you, how your 'smile' drops as soon as you turn away from him. as the battles had come to an end, he's now forced to recall the events which occurred at the safe house. he curses as his own shortcomings, his inability to think twice about his actions and how they'll affect the future. turning his attention towards something else, he mentally chides himself. what did he care, after all? he didn't do the whole relationship thing, the whole soft and squishy feelings. he was a swordsman, he had a goal and a crew to protect, including you. his thoughts do little to fight off the twinge of possessiveness he feels when he instinctively looks in your direction and catches sight of you holding law's hand as you secured his bandage. something gnaws at his pride, but he pushes it aside for the sake of maintaining his stoic front.
once everyone is healed, a festival, a grand one, is thrown to celebrate the liberation of wano. lanterns illuminate almost every corner, the scent of food wafting through the air as citizens and samurai and pirates all gather around.
dressed in a lovely kimono of your choice, you're more than eager to join in the revelry. the two bottles of sake that you carry in your hands only highlights your enthusiasm. you'd been hanging around with the crew for a while, smiling and laughing, but your mind was elsewhere. zoro thinks, for a split second, that you'll hand him a bottle. despite his aloof nature, he'd always find himself sharing a drink with you at times like this. yet, when you walk in the opposite direction, your smile beaming, your words have him gritting his teeth. "m'gonna go have a drink with law!" you chirp, your excitement palpable.
zoro's jaw clenches as he watches you walk off, his eyes lingering on your figure before he looks away. something simmers beneath the surface, but he keeps it at bay. it's nami's offhand comment that his frustration threatening to boil over.
"don't have too much fun!" she teases, throwing a cheeky smile your way. the others have the nerve to laugh, to egg you on, all while the swordsman relishes in how the alcohol burns his throat.
his knuckles turn white as he grips the neck of his sake bottle, the glass straining against his hold. a plethora of unfamiliar emotions rattle in his chest, but his bullheadedness and pride have him unwilling to budge, even if he wants to grab your arm and pull you back. it wasn't his place.
even when you're out of sight, his eyes subconsciously work to peer through the crowd in an attempt to catch a glimpse of your kimono, your hair, anything. once again, he scolds himself. he had no place to be so... so what? envious? possessive? he was the one to turn you away, after all. regardless, he can't get your smile out of his head. memories of you flood his mind: the banter and the sparring matches at sunset. all of it. just as quickly, he catches himself, bringing his lips to the bottle in a bid to drown out the bitterness on his tongue.
it's nearly a full hour later when you return to the crew, more than buzzed and clinging to the arm of the raven-haired surgeon. he doesn't seem to mind, his furrowed brows and his apathetic expression doing little to hide the blush dusting his cheeks.
glad to be in the company of your crew mates once more, you turn to law and wrap your arms around his waist, your smile so genuine and radiant it makes zoro's chest ache. "thank you traffy!"
the laughter of the rest of the crew echoes in zoro's ears alongside his own thundering heartbeat and boiling blood. what the hell were you doing? a knot forms in his chest, the unfamiliar sensation bringing him a great sense of unease.
he has to force himself to look away, before he realizes that it's not enough. without excusing himself, he stands and walks off towards a more secluded part of the festival. he needs to get away from whatever all that is. he needs to clear his head and heart and steel himself because he shouldn't be focusing on such things.
if you were any more sober, you would've kept your distance. however, it's in your nature to care, to worry and ensure that your crew mates are okay. that's why, as soon as you register the fact that the swordsman is gone, you release your hold on the surgeon and follow after zoro.
it's almost silent, save for the sounds of the festival off in the distance. the streets in this part of the capital aren't as illuminated, but cast enough of a glow for you to see zoro up ahead.
"zoro?" you mumble, attentive despite the alcohol in your system. "what're you doin' all the way out here?" your words are so genuine and full of concern, which makes it all the harder for zoro to respond.
"huh? what does it look like?" he roughly replies, not even bothering to fully face you as he turns his head to the side. "needed a break from all the noise and drunken idiots."
something bubbles in his throat, a lump of guilt that he swallows for the sake of self-preservation. he knows he has no right to be so callous, but can't help the passive-aggressive comment that slips past his lips. "why don't you just go off with that surgeon of yours? seems like better company."
your stomach drops and you take a step back. something wedges itself into your chest, a sense of anxiety and confusion as your mind briefly flickers back to that moment at the safe house. you'd done everything right, hadn't you? you'd given him space and pushed your feelings aside for the sake of the mission, so why this?
your heart starts to race, unable to look him in the eye as you focus your gaze to the side.
"why're you bein' so mean to me...?" you murmur, your hands nervously fidgeting as you await his answer. you just wanted to make things right.
he has to turn away once he catches the hurt on your face. if you were any more sober, you would've caught how he was the one that was truly nervous. the way you threatened to break down the walls he had built for himself has him needing to take control, even if that meant pushing you away.
"m'just being honest." he says, sharper than he means to. "leave me alone. go and enjoy the rest of the damn festival."
regret and longing make his chest throb, but he keeps on his mask of indifference as he takes a step forward and away from you. he wouldn't budge, couldn't.
meanwhile, you stand there, your inhales slowly turning short and ragged. your lips tremble and you fight to hold back sobs, but shortly after, you start to sniffle.
you hated crying, really crying. the crew had seen you shed silly little tears before, maybe over something cute or emotional, but not this. it's something you usually hide away and display in private, but the nature of the situation and the influence of the alcohol have you shedding an uncontrollable amount of tears.
though you shouldn't be, the utter vulnerability of the moment has you feeling embarrassed. you find solace in your sleeves, the kimono becoming damp with tears that don't seem to end. your cheeks sting, rubbed raw as you hide away from him.
zoro's heart drops.
the sound of your sobs is devastating. guilt claws at his chest, threatening to crack him open. when he turns around, all he can feel is regret. the weight of his words, how he treated you, is almost unbearable and makes him feel disgusted with himself.
his mind is racing, wondering what he should do or say to fix this, but he can't come up with an answer. before he can do anything, his mind goes blank at your next words.
"I wish I never got feelings for you." you choke out, unsure if your words are genuine or if you simply wanted to hurt the swordsman. with your shoulders trembling, you continued to cry into your sleeves. "I should've figured that there was nothing in that heart of yours."
deciding that you couldn't stand being in the same vicinity as him anymore, you run off.
he watches you go, his heart screaming at him to go after you, but he can't. the walls crumble and he can't hide anymore, forcing himself to realize that he cares for you so much that it terrifies him. the air is thick with tension, your sobs echoing through the air until they fade away, replaced by the distant sounds of the festival.
regret, self-loathing and longing all swirl in his chest, a torrent of emotion that threatens to swallow him whole.
you don't make it back to the ship that night.
you're too embarrassed and ashamed, not feeling safe enough to be vulnerable. you mentally apologize to the crew, hoping that they aren't too worried.
it isn't until the next morning that you return, or rather, you're returned.
the sun barely peeks over the horizon when law walks aboard the thousand sunny go with you cradled in his arms. you're in a deep sleep, completely exhausted and hungover. you're dressed in some of his clothes, your expression peaceful despite what occurred the night before.
other members of the crew gather around, worried about your well-being, but law is quick to say that you were just hungover and must have gotten lost. however, zoro can tell by the sharp look that law gives him that there was more to the story.
the vice captain grits his teeth, shoulders tensing as he watches law gently carry you over to your quarters.
a part of zoro wants to force law to give him answers, to tear you out of his arms so he could cradle you in his. he should've been the one to care for you, to protect you when you were vulnerable, but he hurt you instead. something else nags at him, the fact that you sought solace in someone else's arms.
law comes out of your room, quietly closing the door before walking down the deck. as he walks by zoro, he doesn't stop, but he shoots him another hardened glare. "you're an idiot, roronoa-ya."
oh, zoro knows.
when you finally awaken, you put on a brave face and tell the rest of the crew that you were sorry about your little slip up. you do well to cover it up with a laugh and smile. you build walls of your own, adamant on not getting hurt again.
it's once the crew is happy and satisfied that you make your way back to your room, your head hanging low as you walk by zoro.
your legs come to a stop and you can only hold his gaze for a second before you look away, just wanting to put this chapter behind you. the ache in your chest grows as you wonder what could've been. your voice is small. "look..." you start, hands bunching up into the borrowed shirt you're wearing. "let's just forget this ever happened and stay friends... alright?"
'forget?' he thinks. 'how can I forget that look on your face? the sounds of your sobs? do you think i'd let you go so easily?'
yet, despite the war raging on inside of him, the words stay stuck in his throat.
"yeah." what am i saying? "just friends."
as he watches you walk back to your room, he feels defeated. pathetic. he wants to say more, to show you that he can be the man you deserve, but for now, he sinks back into his usual habits and wonders what could have been.
he knows that he let something precious slip away.
steeling himself, he holds his heavy heart high. a sliver of determination cuts through his clouded mind and he hopes that, one day, he can make things right.

Please a OPLA Sanji x fem shyreader magic user? The crew caught them making out ☺️☺️
A/N IMPORTANT: Hello Anon ! Thank you for your request, I admit it gave me some kind of problem since I'm the exact opposite of shy, but I had fun trying to wonder how it look like and how Sanji would succeed to make himself understand without scaring the reader. I hope you will like it !

From as far as you could remember, you're always been able to make the object around you levited . A power who had created a lot of fun games and yes, a few childish misfits. But, it was your family heritage and you couldn’t be more proud to have inherited it.
Based in a small village near the water, populated mostly by other magical folks, your family had a small shop you never truly learned to love. Your interest was more in the water and the many ships sailing on it. It's why one day, after a heated argument about your lack of implication in the family business, you decide to leave for the city.
Shy by nature, you weren't the kind to show off, even if as a magic user, your power would have opened many doors ordinary people couldn’t even dream of reaching. But, after a few disastrous interactions, when even meeting the gaze of the Captain was above your force. You finally meet Luffy and his straw hat crew.
Their warm approach toward you and your power made you quickly feel more comfortable. But, as they tried to get to know you more, you could stop yourself from feeling nervous to open up and bore them. You usually end up silently smiling, fidgeting your fingers, listening to their fantastique adventure and executing the heavy duty since gravity isn't a problem for you. As the time passes, they all accept your shyness, still including you in their conversation and other activities.
Sanji was by far your favorite member of the crew, to not say you had a pretty hard crush on him. Things who’s even more complicated the task to answer him as he asks you the simplest question or tries to make you happy by cooking your favorite dishes. Of course, the blond chef would never make fun of your betterave red cheeks and often stutter, but he couldn’t help himself to flirt with you. He never had seen something more cute than your reaction as you enjoy his food and he had to admit that nothing makes him more proud than the way you look at him when you thought nobody saw you.
It’s why one evening, as you were helping Usopp to repair the mainmast, effortlessly sending him the multiple parts of wood he needed. Sanji took place at your side, lighting a cigarette nonchalantly.
“ It amazes me each time watching you use your talent Madam“ He confessed, watching absently the plank of wood gaining altitude. “ Isn’t it exhausting to keep control of the object ?”
“ No…I just think of it and…then they float…” You replied, already feeling the tips of your ears warming. You would for nothing share with anyone, the humiliated time it takes you to learn how to push them in the right direction and stop before reaching your face.
“ Oh, so you have to think at every separated item to make them fly…But what happens if you aren’t in a situation to think, like say overwhelmed ? “ His tone, serious, but clearly flirting. Even if you could feel a trap, you couldn’t think of a single time when you could become so self absorbed that you couldn’t even think. “ Like let's say we kiss, will all the objects of the room start to levitate or just our heart ? “
The loud “ BAM “ of the plank slamming against the lower desk makes you jump, you face bright red. Up in the air, Usopp asked what happened, worried that something had occurred to you. It push as well Zoro and Nami out of the own preoccupation, concern if it was a normal noise of a sign of a near danger. With the warrant on Luffy head, your Captain who’s right now was snoring somewhere, they didn’t take any chance.
“ Sanji ! Don’t tease me like that…please ! “ You plead, your gaze fixed on the floor, embarrassment clearly making you want to disappear on the floor.
“ I’m not teasing, I’m truly curious to know…We should try one day” He proposed, a smile playing on his lips as he finished his smoke before heading back to the kitchen “ I make your favorite breakfast tomorrow don’t miss it please”
That conversation spined in your head for at least a few weeks before you accept the meaning of it. Sanji had in his smooth way, confessed his affection for you and waited for you to be ready to do the same. Meantime, he didn’t push you further more, dosing his usual flirt and neither talked about it in front of the others, knowing clearly how you would be mortified.
Until that day.
The crew had stopped the ship alongside an island reminding you of pictures of jungle you often saw in exploration books. Each taking a different path to explore the village and his surrendering, you quickly become bored and decide to come back to the ship, certain that you were alone aboard.
It was why the sound of metal brushing against what seemed to be the same component took you by surprise. Making your way to the kitchen, you discover Sanji, already busy cracking eggs in a bowl. Lifting his head, he smiled as he discarded the empty shell.
“ Already back ? Are you hungry? I am planning to make an omelet for dinner, but i’m not sure if the other will be back so I will make small ones. “
Nodding slowly, watching nervously around you, you decided that if you had to respond to his previous invitation it was now or never.
“ Sanji I…I...You remember that…you know that conversation...about...my talent and...Kiss…” You succeed to say, your hand sweating against your pants.
“ Yes, I remember” He replied, careful to not scare you away.
“ I would like to try…” You finally quickly confessed, your whole body burning like if you had a fever.
Washing his hand with the rag hanging on his shoulder, Sanji gently smiles contouring the kitchen island to place himself in front of you. Putting delicately your chin between his thumbs and his index, he lowered his head trying to meet your evasive gaze.
“ I would like to see your pretty eyes Madam before kissing you “ He demanded, as you nervously turned your gaze to meet him. “ Much better” He smiled.
His lips meet yours with tenderness, as his other hand makes himself a home on your hip. Slowly, you closed your eyes, making yourself melt in the multiples sensation of his soft mouth against yours, followed after a certain time by the teasing of his teeth nibbling your bottom lips. Your tongue quickly follows his invitation, brushing against each other, as you hand find their way to his broad shoulder.
Inclining your head slightly higher to accommodate your difference of height, you instantly reach again for his lips, not wanting to let him go yet.
Lost in the moment, you didn’t hear the rest of the crew come back, dinner being an abstract place in time way ahead of the feeling of Sanji against you.
“ WOAH Y/N you can make people levitate now, that’s so cool ! “ You heard Luffy exclaim as Nami, knowing how embarrassed you should be, tried to drag him out.
Feeling the floor meet your feet, as the cacophony of gravity regain his control of every none fixed item in the room, you promptly separated yourself of Sanji, who’s for once, was as much blushing as you do.
“ I guess that means dinner isn't ready, “ Zoro said, unmoved by what he just saw, already taking his place at the table alongside Luffy.
“ Guys we should maybe go eat somewhere else “ Nami tried, eyeing you hoping that it wouldn't push you to close up yourself more.
“ No need Nami, dinner almost ready just, give me just a minute “ Sanji protest regaining his composure before clearing his throat, whispering gently to you “ Now since we know that you make float everything around you and everyone you kiss…please Darling, let me be the only one to fly with you”
Blushing even more, you couldn't resist laughing in front of the embarrassing but joyful event.
“ I swear “ You promised, already excited for the next time.

Do you have any headcanons for after an escape attempt with each strawhats? What would be their reaction at first? What would they do when they find you? How stricter would they get? What would they start doing differently after the attempt?
I have a head canon that Robin and Zoro are the only ones that can dish out punishment because everyone else doesn’t have the heart to hurt a single hair on your pretty head. I think Nami would start making plans and rules for everyone to follow so their eyes are on you. Luffy would just be, well, Luffy. Sanji would be more smothering. Chopper and Usopp would try to liven up your mood to do pranks and play games along with Luffy. Franky would give you gadgets to play with and to entertain yourself with, maybe even hiding a camera into those gadgets to keep an eye on you.
I am not far enough to know what Jinbe or Brook would do differently, yohohoho!!!
I want to state upfront that I do not depict yanderes that beat the hell out of their darlings. Sorry, but with my past, writing something like that would be extremely triggering for me so I'm not going to do it.
I'm not crazy about doing punishments in general, but I'll give a quick overview for the straw hats.
Luffy, despite his nature, is the one you have to look out for. One of his top priorities is his crew, and that now includes you and making sure you get assimilated. For minor offenses like being cold or shoving them away, he just invades your space more (like yandere exposure therapy). Oh you think you can push him away? Haha no, you're not that strong. You'll be wrapped very tightly in his arms to prove a point.
For a full on escape attempt though, he's going to be visibly upset. Honestly the look on his face will probably be enough to stop you dead in your tracks. When you're back on the ship (not if, when), you're going into solitary confinement until you break since you wanted to be away from them so bad. You'll still be fed of course, but no one will talk to you. The only way you're getting out of that room is by apologizing or if you become ill or get hurt. Robin will be using her devil fruit to keep an eye on you throughout this.
Zoro is a hardass, but it takes a lot to get more that a dirty look from him. For the most part, he leaves the assimilating up to everyone else because he thinks they're more cut out for it than he is. The most he'll usually do is grab you, make you look him in the eye, and tell you to cut it out before you or someone else has to do something they'll regret. Also, I feel like he would be noticeably gentler if you're a woman that he perceives as weak. You're still going back, but he's trying to be careful about it. He'll remind you of how weak you are and how strong so many people in this world are, so maybe you'll be more appreciative of their protection.
You're unlikely to get away with him around, he'll shut that down the second you start to step out of line. If he catches you trying to escape, you're getting thrown over his shoulder and carried back to the ship kicking and screaming. From there he'll hand you over to Luffy for him to decide what to do. He's more of a guard dog than an enforcer.
Nami is the one that comes up with punishments and ways to wear you down. Isolating you after an escape was her idea because she knows how crippling it is to feel alone. It hurts her to do this, but she needs you to understand how much you need them. With her temper, she's quick to yell at you for any minor infraction against them. She also tries to trap you financially by buying things for you and then saying that you can't leave unless you pay her back in full. Which is impossible between her interest rate and the fact that none of them will let you do anything to earn money.
Escape attempts boil her blood, you'll probably get in a screaming match with her before you're locked away. She'll be yelling about how ungrateful you are for trying to leave. They do nothing but love you, feed you, clothe you, and treat you like family and this is how you repay them?! After what Arlong put her through for ten years, she can't fathom not loving being a part of the Straw Hats.
Usopp hates this so much. The whole thing makes him uncomfortable and he wishes you would just acquiesce already. His role is that of a snitch. If he so much as thinks you're up to something you're getting ratted out in a matter of seconds. However, upon realizing that you were now avoiding him like a plague, he dialed back on it. Now if the behavior isn't that serious, he'll just quietly scold you but ultimately let it go.
I wish you luck trying to escape around him with his eyesight. The man could shoot a specific leaf off a tree from a mile away, do you really think he won't see you trying to sneak away? He'll give chase, but will also be yelling that you're trying to get away so that now everyone is also after you. Making it off the ship with him around is genuinely impressive.
Sanji hates this more than Usopp, especially if you're a woman. But, as much as he loathes to see you cry and be upset, there is a part of him (that he is very ashamed of) that feels downright gleeful about having someone in his life that physically can't leave him. He will literally never admit this to anyone. He's like a combination of Usopp and Zoro, his job is to keep an eye on you and interfere with any escape attempts. He won't do much about you acting out. He mostly just ignores it and doubles down on being sweet and doting to try and win you over.
If you actually try to leave with him around, first of all, good luck because he's never that far away and will simply escort you back to your seat as if you simply got turned around. Actually getting enough distance from him to warrant a more serious response won't last long. Sanji is fast, so he'll close the gap in no time and scoop you up to go back to the ship. He won't say a thing to you the whole way back, he feels hurt and betrayed that you would do this and doesn't trust himself to not break if he opens his mouth. During your isolation, he makes a bunch of your favorite foods as a way of reminding you how much he cares about you.
Chopper is joining the list of people that can't stand this. He doesn't understand and is confused, are friendships supposed to be like this? The others will tell him that no, they're not, but sometimes you just need to "convince" people that you're supposed to be friends with them. This makes him determined to do his part and help get you adjusted! He isn't really sure what that entails though, so he's just very friendly and affectionate with you. If you're seated, he's going to hop into your lap.
When you try to make a break for it with him around, his first instinct is to panic. You're getting away! One of your crew mates needs to go catch you! Oh wait that's him! He'll shift into one of his larger forms so that he can catch up with you and grab you. The whole time he's carrying you back, he's crying because he feels like you did this because he hasn't done a good enough job making friends with you. He takes the isolation the worst and is constantly worrying about you getting hurt or sick.
Robin tries to take it with stride, but she's pretty uncomfortable with it. I don't agree with the idea that she's someone that would be dishing out punishments. She's had to play the role of a bad guy for the past two decades, she doesn't want to keep playing it. All that she wants is to enjoy the company of her new friends, and that includes you even if you're wary of them. She does her best to get you to understand that your new crew mates only want what's best for you, even going so far as to tell you about her past and what they did to save her from Enies Lobby.
You are not escaping on her watch, it's just not happening. She sees and hears everything and can grow limbs on your body to make you come back before you've gotten more than a couple meters away. The first time, she actually will keep it to herself if no one else saw it. She'll settle for telling you what will happen if you get caught doing this again, and remind you of how much they all care about you. Can't you just appreciate that? If you do wind up being isolated, it's her job to check up on you since she can do so without entering the room. Seeing you crying or upset really hurts her, and the second she thinks you're worn down enough she's all but begging Luffy to let you out now.
Franky is not foreign to the concept of adopting every scrappy kid you come across, and if he's yandere, then he probably did the same with some of the members of the Franky Family. He's experienced in these endeavors and it shows with how cool and collected he is about it. You're bound to get frustrated with him laughing off you acting out. He'll even go so far as to tell someone like Nami or Zoro to relax when they're berating you because that's not going to do anything to help bring you around. He'll wind up endearing himself to you ever so slightly because of this, and it's 100% intentional on his part.
He handles escape attempts like a minor annoyance. Like he's fetching a cat that slipped out the front door when it wasn't supposed to. He follows after you, picks you up and carries you like a football back to the ship while asking you if that was really worth it like some disappointed dad. Like Robin, he doesn't want to immediately jump to isolation and will try to plead your case that maybe this was a one time thing and you've learned your lesson, but if you're kicking and screaming and not cooperating then he'll throw in the towel and let the others do what they will.
I also haven't gotten to Brook and Jinbei, so I'll leave them out too.
After you're let out, you're essentially going to be love bombed by everyone. You'll be in a vulnerable state of mind and they will all be taking advantage of it.

My Headcanons for the Strawhats: (Monster Trio)
Luffy:
- Low-key has REALLY bad abandonment issues (see him telling Ace he keeps following him into a dangerous forest bc it makes him feel less alone, Sabo's 'death', Saboady, Marineford, etc)
- Autistic
- When he relaxes/sleeps his body will become super slack an his arms an legs will spread out all over
- HATES the cold and his body hurts when it's too cold out (rubber breaks easily when frozen)
- Will drink but is superrrrrrr picky about booze
- Has very green eyes an no one can convince me otherwise
- Love language is Physical touch (He bites people, affectionately)
- (Based on my Headcanons that Luffy is Brazilian and Robin is Peruvian) His first language is Portuguese an if he forgets a word he'll ask Robin to translate
- Favorite color is red (any shade)
- Likes collecting shiny rocks/pretty sea shells
- Is the most emotionally intelligent person on the crew an has really good observation skills but takes most things at face value/doesn't question them bc he can't understand why someone wouldn't want to show/say exactly what they mean
- If he cries or gets embarrassed enough to blush he'll cover his face with his hat
- Likes when Nami/anyone paints his nails but can never sit still long enough to get them done nicely
- Ambidextrous
- Knows a lot about bugs and can rattle off facts about them for hours
- Really really good at guessing games to the point everyone thinks he's cheating somehow
- Has stretch marks alllll over
- Eats so much bc his stomach stretches no matter how much he eats so he never really feels 'full'
- Has HATED Garp ever since he did nothing to help during Marineford
Zoro:
- Has dimples but he's insecure so he tries hiding them
- Everyone thinks he has green eyes but I think he has brown eyes
- His love language is Acts of service
- Extremely touch starved (if someone plays with his hair he is passing out IMMEDIATELY)
- Secretly loves that (other then Robin) Chopper always goes to him first for everything
- Really loves forests, if they land on an island with one he's most likely heading there first
- Unofficial Official first mate of the strawhats
- When it comes to keeping the crew safe he trusts Robin & Sanji the most (other then the Captain ofc) because he knows they won't hesitate to kill someone they're fighting
- Nami is like a sister to him
- Is actually REALLY good at math an confused tf out the crew when they found out (is now in charge of keeping track of the amount of necessities on the ship or how much they need for a certain amount of time)
- Will forget how long he's been going when training an won't realize til someone stops him
- Gets worried/nervous anytime he watches someone walking down stairs
- Knows a shit ton of knife/sword tricks (can absolutely swallow a sword)
- Doesn't like showers bc he hates water on his face
- Is willing to follow Luffy's orders without question (Post time skip, Pre time skip -specifically before thriller bark- Zoro would still question Luffy)
- One of the few Straw hats that hasn't dated anyone (Sanji had some flings w/ regulars at Baratie, Usopp w/ Kaya, Nami had a few flings here an there, Franky had been with a few people back on water 7 and Brook had been with a few people back when he was alive)
- His favorite color is Sage green/Gold
- Taught Chopper some sword fighting techniques (Brook also joined in an taught Chopper some of his moves)
- Loves taking naps with Chopper (Chopper is low-key his favorite person on the crew)
- He an Robin have little competitions to one up eachother with gifts or things for Chopper bc they both wanna be his favorite >:)
Sanji:
- Loves the ocean/thinks it's the most beautiful part of nature ever
- Either is a Queer Cis guy OR a Queer Trans woman<3
- Ace was absolutely his gay awakening but he thought it was a 'fluke' til he stayed on the momorio island and accepted himself
- Sees it as a HUGE compliment when anyone on the crew gains weight bc it reaffirms he's doing his job well :)
- Loves loves loves all animals and won't let anyone hurt them (including rodents/other "gross" animals)
- Has insectophobia/arachnophobia and OCD
- HATES having anything covering to much of his face/head bc of the mask Judge had him in
- Pulls on his hair when frustrated/angry/overwhelmed/etc.
- French is his first language
- Knows how to figure skate, do ballet and learned gymnastics
- His love language is Words of affirmation
- Writes letters to Zeff at least once a week (after the events at WCI he started addressing Zeff as Dad in his letters)
- Is secretly writing his own cookbook
- Has anisocoria, effects his right eye (anisocoria can easily be confused with heterochromia. It gives the appearance of two different eye colors, but the variation only relates to pupil size — which can cause one eye to look darker than the other — not the actual eye color.)
- Sanji an Usopp are actually really close (both their moms passed bc of sickness both had shit dads plus soba mask + sogeking friendship is superior)
- Sees Zoro as a brother (their dynamic is like the eldest brothers who try to compete over everything)
- Sees Robin as a mother figure but low-key feels guilty about it
- Told Nami everything about his past after WCI and they're really close now
- Sees Luffy a bit as an obnoxious younger brother
- When it gets really hot he'll let Chopper sit inside/in front of the freezer for a little bit

Do you have any sick!Luffy ZoLu headcanons? If (heavens forbid) Luffy ever catches the Pirate King disease (like Roger) do you think Zoro would cry? Would he get angry (at Luffy or the universe or himself)? I can picture Luffy breaking the news to the crew and laughing saying "It's fine, it's fine" and then Zoro grabbing him by the collar and shouting "It's not fine!" all teary eyed which then makes everyone else cry (specially Chopper... And now I made myself sad af)
…………..well I didn’t (this also sent me down a reddit rabbit hole of discussions about not only only illness but the wear luffy’s fighting style and decisions has put on his body, as well as how age works differently in the op universe ie kureha & garp) but the twisted part about a sickness is it’s not a physical opponent anyone (zoro) could protect his captain from, or sacrifice his life for. and of course luffy, who laughs in the face of death / if it’s his time it’s his time, would accept his fate (imo) fairly well. the crew? the crew would not. (trying not to think about how upset chopper would be to be faced with one of the most important people in his life yet again being taken away by an illness he couldn’t cure)
everyone on the crew owes their life (tho of course not in the sense of a debt) to luffy in one way or another, and they love him so much, but zoro is in the unique position of his goals entwined so much with luffy’s own that his goals have become luffy. he wants to become the greatest swordsman for himself, for kuina, and for luffy. he would become the king of hell for luffy. the quote about what’s the point of ambition if you can’t protect your captain. zoro in the foxy pirate arc saying he wouldn’t be a pirate if it wasn’t with the strawhats. don’t die or I’ll kill you. he’d follow his captain to hell.
before luffy found zoro, he was lost. he knew what he eventually wanted to accomplish (beat mihawk) but other than that? the straw hats gave him purpose. a family. a reason to fight and grow stronger. to grow stronger to protect his family, and his captain. luffy was his priority days into meeting him. loving luffy is second Nature at this point and it’s hurting my brain to try and imagine taking luffy out of zoro’s life because while he’d still have the rest of the crew, he’d be missing his other half. a twin flame extinguished.
long story short no I don’t have any headcanons bc I don’t wanna :(((((
#AJSJSJSJSJJSJW SORRY#I DIDNT ACTUALLY ANDWER THIS BC it made me too sad#one piece#zolu#delete or EDIT later maybe

The Luffy-Kid Connection
With the recent chapter of One Piece being released, I thought I should talk more about Eustass Kid This isn’t an in-depth analysis of his character and motivations, but instead delves into how he parallels our main protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy.
From the very beginning, Kid is introduced as a dark reflection to Luffy, from having roughly the same bounty (Albeit a little higher) and having a Number 2 with a 9-digit bounty of his own. They even want the same thing, to be Pirate King. Hell, when they are first seen fighting together, they unveil the thematically same technique.
However, while Luffy and his crew have saved numerous nations from destruction and freed them from tyranny, Kid is infamous in-universe for wreaking havoc on the common folk. It could be easy to write this off as propaganda or exaggeration, but as we see in chapter 594, Kid has no problem with crucifying people he’s beaten. This is a level of viciousness we’ve only seen on the worst of enemies, and a sign that whatever’s said about Kid may not be entirely fabricated. And while Luffy has always been concern about non-coms getting caught in the crossfire, Kid makes it clear he doesn’t care who gets hurt outside of his crew.
Furthermore, there is the matter of humility. Luffy always had people question or mock his dream of being Pirate King, but he just shrugs them off, only throwing down with those who plan on trying to get his way of that. Kid, on the other hand, admits to killing people who laughed at him. Remember the time in Mock Town when neither Luffy or Zoro bothered to fight back against the Bellamy Pirates for mocking the concept of dreams? I sincerely doubt neither Kid or Killer would be so restrained.
When the story brings Kid back into the spotlight, we see he is trying to form an alliance among his fellow pirates…just like Luffy, at the time, went into an alliance with Law to take down one of the Four Emperors. And while Luffy made it clear at the time that he wanted to beat the Emperors except for Shanks (Or, more accurately, that Shanks not be the first), Kid’s prospective alliance was made for the explicit purpose of beating Shanks. And while Luffy’s alliance works out, Kid ends up betrayed and cheated by the pirates he tried to trust.
In Wano, where both men are beaten and captured by Kaido, Luffy and Kid end up in competition over who can do the most labor (And, I am deeply impressed that Kid can carry just as much as Luffy with one arm). But while Luffy helps Old Man Hyo and learns a new Haki technique, Kid walks out as soon as he can, and doesn’t.
And finally, we reach Elbaf, where Kid finds himself in a rematch with Shanks. A very short rematch, to be precise (I was rooting for Shanks, btw), but it’s here that we see two more old friends, Dorry and Broggy from Little Garden. The same technique that once cleared the path for the Straw Hats to sail on their way, it is used to sink Kid’s ship. And speaking of this fight, recollect back to Alabasta, when the Straw Hats saw the Barogue Works fleet but chose not to attack, not wanting to waist their time on small-fry. Kid, on the other hand, made the choice to attack the lesser pirates in Shanks’ fleet…which played a big part in why Shanks waisted no time stomping Kid.
In short, Kid’s role is in part how integral Luffy’s natural kindness and empathy is to his becoming Pirate King…by showing how screwed he’d be without it.

Episode 5 veredict:
5/5 Straw Hats 👒👒👒👒👒
Nothing is 100% perfect, but using decimals is for cowards bitches
The good:
Baratie is the best set so far hands down
God i love Taz's Sanji. He had three lines of dialogue but his was the first straw hat that inmediately felt like the charecter
Also Zeff, i have nothing negative to say, perfect Zeff, perfect with Sanji. Perfect duo.
Garp. I fucking love this Garp so much. Him and Luffy just screaming at eachother and throwing canon balls at eachother from their ships was so funny. I want to see where they go with it but introducing Garp this early was a really big move for the LA and i think so far it payed off.
MIHAWK. Not even necessary to point out how perfect the costume is but Steven Ward got the tone of the charecter perfectly fucking right!!
Sure they deleted Don Krieg but i actually didnt mind it in the end? There was no actual 'bad guy' but i liked it. I thought all episodes now would follow the syrup village format of stablishing the villain in the first ep, ending with a cliffhanger and the next ep had the full third act kinda battle. But the plot needed to slow down, they needed to give more time for the crew to bond and Baratie first half is the perfect moment to do that, and also an opportunity for the rest of the crew to get to know eachother without Luffy as a conduit (he was busy being a busboy). So yeah, i dont mind they didnt even introduced Krieg this ep as the villain of the arc, bc we got Zoro and Nami playing drinking games, Luffy and Sanji talking about dreams in a quiet moment at the kitched, and drunk Usopp busting some moves.
Oh god Mihawk's and Zoro's fight. It was almost exactly like in the anime, and i usualy hate frame by frame replications in adaptations of this kind, but that fight was iconic and perfect, they knew they didnt have to mess with that. But not only that, it was perfectly executed. It managed to capture the same emotion as the anime (something that other key moments so far fail to get it right spcially in backstories and flashbacks)
Again, kudos to Mackenyu for all the sword fight, holy shit they are becoming my fav things in the show
Ehh could'e been better:
There were only two moments in this ep that made me go :/
Luffy's argument to get Zeff to accept the IOU. Luffy never cared about status and what being King of the Pirates would mean, he dont care about having hand or the benefits the title would bring him. Pulling that card felt very strange, the most natural thing for Luffy was to just stare at Zeff dead in the eye and just say he's broke af
Nami not leaving. Stealing the ship and leaving them at Baratie was huge deal and what prompted they way into Arlong Park. But more of a plot point it was huge for Nami's charecter, bc she was still trying to convice herself that she hadnt become friends with those idiots, bc she still hated all pirates, bc she still tried to present a cold 'i dont need no one' kinda facade. But LA Nami had already admited not only that she was friends with the boys but also that she was part of the crew. Thats ok but now the issue is that her stealing Merry makes little sense, and even leaving at all makes little sense. Dont get me wrong, i love this Nami and i like the direction they gave the charecter, but i think maybe they neglected a bit her own personal growth and inner conficts, which is what sets te base for everything that happens to her at Arlong Park later on

Hello! What if in an alternate path, Kaku joined the Straw Hats (Franky still joins)? To me, he seems the most likely to swap to pirate, and he seemed to actually enjoy his job at the docks. How would he handle the crew? What role would he have? Thank you!!!
a/n: dunno if anon would still see this answer at this point, though i finally came around to this idea - maybe it’s the holiday season 🎄
What if Kaku joined the Strawhats
slight zosan/usonami word count: 1.5k
He definitely does seem to be the type to switch sides, I feel like in his mind, given more freedom, Kaku would like to align himself with whatever seems the most interesting even if not entirely conducive to coming out on top - in canon the latter part is more important but something tells me he made his way into CP0 partly on a whim, to see watch what would become of the new era from a higher perch
Say for the sake of argument he gets cast aside entirely by the WG after the events of Enies Lobby (afaik the CP9 agents had a short romp in a cover story about raising funds to get back on their feet so maybe this was during then), he’s desolate and paranoid at every turn because in the back of his mind, even the kindest of civilians could be someone sent to keep an eye on him post-failure
So Kaku turns to the people he has no doubt would never hide anything from him, the only kid forthcoming enough who had the gall to march into a government island and declare war on the whole world - Luffy was the last person who’d be sneaky about his feelings and that’s exactly what Kaku needed right now, good old fashioned honesty
And it’s honesty he gets, when Luffy tells him that he doesn’t like this Usopp imposter (after needing a reminder as to who he was and complaints from Sogeking himself) for hurting Robin and that he should leave - as straightforward an answer as Kaku could get
Due to extenuating circumstances, though, be it the Grand Line’s unpredictable weather, enemies getting in the way, or plain old, “ah well, we can’t just drop him in the sea, that’s a bit too cruel” though certain members would beg to differ, and bonds would slowly be formed over the course of spending time together
Imagine there it takes longer for them to get to Thriller Bark or Sabaody where other plot things happen or something shdfbshtgndf
Considering his fickle (to outsider eyes) nature however, among other more important reasons, it’s difficult for the Strawhats to take as well to him as Luffy’s go with the flow attitude - although it has to be said that a former enemy who did hurt their own in the past eventually becoming nakama isn’t entirely out of the blue, given Vivi and Robin herself
Kaku is aware of this, he’s been aware of people’s mistrust in him since he was a child, always with too-wide eyes for the adults around him and a smile that never quite reached it, so he’s used to being held at arm’s length
It’s the unsurprisingly the youngest of the crew that warm up to Kaku first - Chopper tending to his wounds after Kaku helped the SHs in battle, he quickly becomes endeared with the little reindeer’s antics and complex about compliments, Usopp being very skittish at first but eventually spinning Kaku the long, tall tales he does to everyone else, and Luffy’s unwavering kindness that leaves little else to be said.
That, and Luffy’s endless amusement at his Zoan form, that seem to entertain the other kids on board as well. The next is Sanji, silently showing his care through his cooking while still being very verbally hostile, being one of the first to threaten Kaku during the first week that he was stuck on their ship due to unforeseen circumstances that if he dared to hurt another hair on Robin’s, or anyone else’s for that matter, head then being out of house and home - how he came to them - would be the least of Kaku’s worries; the cook still fed him though, and to Kaku, that was more than could be said about others he often found himself around before the Strawhats. Zoro follows soon after, laying down the fact plain and simple that he didn’t like him but if they were to cohabitate per captain’s orders, things would go much smoother if they learned how to get along sooner rather than later, Kaku doesn’t make the jab that it seems that Zoro and Sanji still don’t get along to this day in the moment, but over time he’d learn that the two of them shared something beyond anything Kaku himself has had, or even allowed himself, to experience. Zoro puts Kaku through the wringer day after day with sparring, only resting when Chopper yells at Zoro for overexerting himself since he’s keeping the newbie on his toes while still picking fights with Sanji and getting injured that way, so Kaku has to find other ways of making himself useful on a ship as lively as the Sunny.
It’s here that he finds himself helping out with Usopp’s tinkering, listening to the lad talk about grand would-be fantasies, helping him with parts of his inventions, and teasing him about the shy yet longing glances Usopp sends their lovely navigator when it seems like she’s not looking, not quite noticing Franky’s encroachment into the workshop until their resident Cyborg is firmly seated in his usual spot. Franky’s just a blunt as Zoro is, he’s up front about his feelings on the situation regardless of Usopp’s presence - when Sogeking tries to sneak away from a potentially very tense and awkward interaction Franky tells him to sit his tuchus down and get back to work.
Franky is painfully, well, frank, about the anguish Kaku’s previous allegiances have caused this crew and he states that it’ll be an uphill battle to earn everyone’s trust truly, let alone the Funkfreed in the room that Kaku’s only barely managed to avoid interacting with too much during his stay, but also says that he sees how hard Kaku’s trying, and that deserves recognition more than anything else. Nami doesn’t offer any leeway when Kaku finally gathers the courage to face Robin, determined to protect her friend at any cost when their lanky, tweedy new crewmate (but distinctly not nakama) makes his way up to the table under Nami’s mikan trees that the girls often lounged under - before Nami can rip into him too hard, though, Robin puts up a hand and asks for a moment of privacy between the two of them - Nami’s unhappy about it but acquiesces.
Within the few short interactions Kaku’s had with Robin previously on this ship, it’s either been with tempered ire, suspicion, and then jabs said with her calm but characteristically unnerving smile, showing clear (warranted) apprehension to his very presence around her nakama, so he bears his soul - Kaku doesn’t spin a sob story or make grand gestures that would attempt to garner sympathy like his pathetic excuse for a former boss, but plainly and simply states his intentions, his anxieties, his remorse, in a very Zoro-esque way, one would even say.
Kaku knows that more than anyone here, Robin had suffered the most at Enies Lobby, he had been conducive to that suffering, and here he was, begging for a place to exist on the same crew that took her in, the very one that he’d been ordered to take out like nothing a few months ago; the small crew that the World Government severely underestimated and paid dearly for.
He’d say he knows it wouldn’t mean much to her, nor does he have the audacity to ask for her forgiveness, but for what it’s worth Kaku is sorry.
Being under Robin’s scrutinizing gaze burns but Kaku doesn’t waver, he faces her head on even though through even passing second, it feels like this woman wants to explode his head with her mind. Almost like some strange, unspoken game of chicken to test his mettle against her, the direct consequence of his own actions. And Kaku blinks. He tries to excuse himself, to hide away in some dark, cold corner of the ship where he can bottle up all these thoughts again and manage his guilt in silence.
But he’s not allowed to. Of course not.
Robin says, just as he turns to leave, that obviously even if he were to get on his hands and knees to grovel like the worm that he was, eyes unemotive, he would never gain forgiveness, much less hers, that way. Only a fiery grave awaited those who were so spineless. She says that she doesn’t know if she’ll ever be able to forgive the things he’s done as a person, a former government agent. A dog to cruel masters. Her eyes follow the bob of his Adam’s apple as she takes a long, calculated sip of her tea.
But she wouldn’t be unwilling to start over with whoever Kaku made of himself now, as a potential ally. Not a friend yet, not nearly close to nakama, but it was a start and, smiling, Robin was interested in seeing what he’d become on the journey to get there.
Contradictory to what anyone had to say, Kaku did not cry that day.

Final Miscalculation Of The Seeker Pirates! Tashigi's Trap!
Chapter Warnings: Violence, gore, character death
"Tighter! And make sure the knots are on the other side of the mast, where she has no hope of reaching them!"
Lana came to in a nightmare, Corrin's voice bringing her back from unconsciousness most unpleasantly. Across the deck from her, Nami and Sanji were slumped over, shackled.
"What... happened?"
The last thing Lana remembered was foraging on an island with her friends. Something about a net... Sanji yelling about a trap.
"I can't move!"
Mast at her back, Lana realized she recognized the ship she was on. Her suspicions were confirmed when Corrin stepped into her line of sight.
"Well, well, Avariya's awake," he crooned. "Long time, no see, lockbreaker."
"Corrin!" Lana seethed. "You've got some nerve letting me see your rotten face again after last time!"
"Nerve? Come on, it's only natural for bounty hunters to target pirates," Corrin tsked.
"Bounty hunters? What the hell are you talking about?" Lana demanded. She spared a glance upward. This was undoubtedly the ship of the Seeker pirates, but they weren't flying their jolly roger.
'I know Corrin. He would die a pirate before turning coat and becoming a bounty hound. He's up to something... but what does he have to gain from lying? And who is he really lying to? This line can't be for my benefit.'
"Corrin!"
A woman with blue hair appeared, frowning tersely through thick-framed glasses. She carried a sword. "The man I'm looking for isn't here. If you're wasting my time..."
"Wouldn't dare dream of it, sergeant major Tashigi," Corrin assured her. "These pirates are all part of the same crew. If anything can be said of the straw hat pirates, it's that they leave no man... or woman, behind. He'll come to take them back from us."
"He'd better, or I'll be holding you to account," Tashigi warned Corrin severely.
A marine. Some of the pieces started to fall into place.
"If you're trying to lure our captain out to rescue us, you should know it's gonna backfire," Lana spat. "Luffy's gonna mop the deck with you."
"Straw Hat Luffy?" Tashigi replied. "I'm afraid there's no way he'll be joining us. The platoon of marines I sent to distract him seem to be doing a fine job, judging by the commotion on the beach."
She was right. The shore was in sight and Lana could see Luffy, Chopper and Usopp running like madmen from a navy brigade.
"So... you mean it's not Luffy you're after?" Lana asked, confusion clouding her tone. "Then... who? Who is it you're trying to lure out?"
Robin's bounty was impressive, but Tashigi was after a man. If Sanji wasn't their target, that meant...
Lana's eyes narrowed as she reached a conclusion.
"Zoro? You idiots are trying to provoke Zoro? Corrin, you've pulled some bone-headed stunts in your time, but this takes the cake. You must have a death wish."
"Not me," Corrin grinned. "I'm just helping the good sergeant major capture her mark. It's a nice bonus that I'll be able to... collect your bounty, as well, Avariya."
His grin widened and he shot her a sly wink. Lana gasped, realizing his ploy. She scoffed, pulling furiously against the ropes that bound her.
"I get it now. You treacherous snake!"
Corrin would never lose Lana to the government. She was worth much more to him than the forty-six million berry price on her head the navy had decided she deserved for her part in the Alabasta misunderstanding. This gambit of his was clever, but flawed. He thought he could manipulate the navy, defeat the straw hat pirates and reclaim Lana for himself.
"There's just one wrinkle in your plan, Corrin," Lana smirked. More than one, but only one that truly mattered. Her confidence caused Corrin's smug expression to waver momentarily. "When Zoro gets here... he's going to slaughter you!"
"Why you-"
"Don't be shaken," Tashigi ordered. "When Roronoa Zoro arrives I'll handle him."
'She'll handle him? Who the hell is this woman?'
It was apparent that she was a sword master. Lana knew enough about quality steel to tell at a glance that the blade Tashigi carried was fine indeed. Could this meek-looking woman really have the skills to take Zoro down?
'She... she seems so sure of herself!'
"Tashigi, is it?"
The marine turned when Lana addressed her.
"Tell me, sergeant major, what business could you possibly have with Zoro?" Lana pried.
Tashigi fixed her with an icy glare.
"I don't need to answer to pirate scum."
"Ugh, rude, aren't you?"
Tashigi walked away, leaving Lana fuming.
"Sanji! Nami! Wake up! You need to- Mmm!"
Corrin placed his hand over her mouth, leaning against the mast beside her.
"Don't get so worked up, Avariya," he purred. "You'll be home soon. Back here with me, where you belong. And this time..."
Lana's eyes widened in panic as Corrin raised his left hand. In his palm, his seeking mark glowed orange as he prepared to use it.
"... I'll make sure you never have a chance to escape again!"
Lana squirmed in vain, desperation rising from her chest to choke her. He was going to mark her again and she was helpless to stop it, just like the first time. Tears brimmed in her eyes as she cursed him silently with all her might.
'Damn you! Damn you, Corrin, you bastard! Will I never be free of you?!'
"You're mine, Avariya! Then, now and always!" Corrin declared.
Lana's broken sob of despair was muffled by Corrin's hand. She let her eyes slide shut, trembling as she waited hopelessly for him to claim her once more.
'I'll kill the bastard the first chance I get! I'll burn his ship to ashes even if I have to burn along with the rest of these bastards! He can't have me! Not again!'
A slash sang out like a miracle, followed by a tense, sudden gasp from Corrin. He screamed in agony and Lana's eyes flew open. Corrin's blood splattered across the mast, wet and warm on even Lana's fevered skin. Corrin stumbled back, leaving his arms on the deck at Lana's feet. He fell, screaming and flopping away like a gutted fish while blood sprayed against the planks of his ship.
"Zoro!" Lana gasped, laying eyes her crewmate. The expression on his face stunned her into silence. His rage was seething, his bloodlust uncontrolled. He stepped past Lana without sparing her a glance, too focused on his target. He sliced through the ropes that bound her in passing, his blade deeply scoring the mast a half-inch from her hand.
Lana collapsed to the deck, slipping on blood as she watched Zoro advance on Corrin like some vengeful spirit. He placed his foot on the Seeker captain's chest, immobilizing him completely.
"She's not yours," Zoro growled. Corrin whimpered under the intensity of his ruthlessness. Zoro raised Kietetsu, his voice rising with the blade.
"She never was, and she sure as hell never will be!" he roared.
"Please!" Corrin managed to cry out, to no avail. "Mercy! I beg-"
Zoro cut his pleas short, separating his head from his body with a strike so brutal that it cleaved clean through the deck below.
"Z-Zoro..."
Lana's voice quivered. Zoro was breathing hard, shaking despite the fact that his brief assault shouldn't have been an exertion. Lana got to her feet unsteadily as Zoro slashed the air off the port bow, sending Corrin's blood hurtling off Kietetsu into the sea. He sheathed the blade as Lana found her footing and met her teary eyes with hellfire burning in his gaze. It was a terrifying sight to behold, but Lana was too shocked to feel fear.
"You killed him!"
"The bastard had his hands on you. Of course I killed him!"
Lana's lip trembled and she couldn't stop the tears from streaming down her face.
"Oh... Z-Zoro!"
"Tch, don't tell me you wanted me to spare that scum?" he scoffed, misreading her expression as he often did. "Well, I don't- hhng!"
Lana threw her arms around him, burying her face against his chest as she struggled to compose herself. Gratitude overwhelmed her, disbelief settling in to replace the terror she'd felt in the face of Corrin's return. It was over now, forever this time. Seeker Corrin would never, ever hound her again.
"Thank you!" she managed, her words muffled by his shirt. Knowing Zoro, she expected him to shrug her off or play it cool. Instead, she felt his arms around her, returning her firm embrace. His fingers crept into her hair as he held her, silently assuring her that he would kill for her again in a heartbeat.
Lana had never felt so safe in her life.
"Roronoa!"
Tashigi's voice cut the moment to shreds, tearing Lana back to reality. She and Zoro separated, turning to face the marine as she drew her blade and leveled it at Zoro. Behind her, the Seeker pirates reacted to the gruesome death of their captain with a range of emotions from shock, to anger, to despair.
"Suck it, assholes!" Lana jeered at the men who had done their part to torment her over the five years she'd spent sailing as their captive. "And you... boy, are you in for it now, little miss sergeant major! Zoro's gonna take you down too! Right, Zoro?"
"Uh... aw, crap! What the hell is she doing here?!"
"Huh?"
Lana realized Zoro's disposition had changed entirely as soon as he set eyes on Tashigi. He looked... squeamish?
"Zoro, what's the deal?" Lana demanded. "There's a swordsman challenging you, aren't you going to fight?"
"No way! I'm not fighting her!" Zoro declared.
"What?!" Lana gaped, her jaw dropping to the deck.

anyways no one asked but here's lil descriptions of my one piece s/i's relationship(s) with a few characters (might make a part two)
crocodile <- her ex. she dated him before gaining her devil fruit abilities. she hates him (she's still in love with him). he doesn't think they ever broke up lmao??? so he's still very sweet on her. she named a stray cat after him... yeah she is so over him can't you tell 🙄 (he's not happy about a cat being named after him btw)
mihawk <- queer platonic relationship. not romance. not friendship. but a secret third thing. they flirt whenever they're around each other. either that or she's driving him insane <3 others see their relationship as a "will they? won't they? 👀" sort of situation but it's never going to become something more (aka romantic) bc they're happy with the intimacy they already have. he gifted her a sword, she named it Luna (moon) to match his sword Yoru (night). so they have matching swords. he teaches her how to wield a sword when he can (at least the basics anyway) he's one out of two people who started calling her "Snake Eyes" bc of her devil fruit abilities.
buggy <- bestie! bestie! bestie! he gives her makeovers. does her makeup. paints her nails. they get into SO much trouble together. he hides behind her from crocodile and mihawk when he screws up bc he knows they won't hurt her and she won't let them hurt him.
smoker <- he has a crush on her even tho he'd never admit it. she flirts with him and blows him kisses to distract him to help her crew (the straw hats) escape. she enjoys seeing him get flustered. and she respects the fact he isn't afraid to stand up to his superiors/the world government.
shanks <- as of right now she feels kinda neutral about him. she doesn't dislike him but she doesn't really like him either. that may change with time. BUT he does like her, maybe not a full-on crush, but he does find her cute and has flirted with her once or twice. he calls her "Lady Luck" bc of her devil fruit abilities.
sanji <- she was a little overwhelmed (flustered) when they first met bc of his flirty nature, but over time, she realized that's just how he is and got used to it. now they're close friends. she helps him cook/bake (really, he teaches her how to cook/bake) she's better at baking, or at least she finds it more fun. he also helps her flirt (aka they throw bad pick-up lines off of each other and see which ones are the worst)
zoro <- nap buddy. he lets her watch him work out bc he enjoys her quiet. also occasionally tries to get her to work out with him (she hates it) the second person who started calling her "Snake Eyes" (well, technically the first) bc of her devil fruit abilities. he brought her to a bar once where after a few drinks he decided to try his luck at some card game. he kept losing. 100% blames her devil fruit abilities bc he's not THAT bad. it's a 50/50 chance whether or not he's actually that bad or it was her devil fruit abilities. he started calling her "Snake Eyes" after that incident tho.

"Discovering One Piece: My Childhood Adventure"
I was just a kid when I first stumbled upon One Piece, a time when the world seemed so much simpler, yet filled with endless possibilities. I remember it vividly—the day I was introduced to the story of a young, wide-eyed pirate named Monkey D. Luffy, who set out on a daring quest to become the Pirate King. Little did I know then that this anime would become such a significant part of my life, shaping not just my imagination but also my values and outlook on life.
My journey with One Piece began much like Luffy’s journey in the East Blue—full of curiosity and wonder. I was flipping through channels on a lazy afternoon when I caught the opening scene of the show. The vibrant colors, the lively characters, and the sense of boundless adventure instantly drew me in. It wasn’t just another cartoon; there was something about it that resonated deeply with me, even as a child.
Luffy’s quest to find the One Piece and become the Pirate King was, on the surface, a simple story of a boy chasing his dreams. But as I watched episode after episode, I realized that there was much more to it. One Piece was a story about perseverance, friendship, and the courage to defy the odds. As Luffy gathered his crew and faced off against powerful foes, I found myself staying up late, glued to the TV, eagerly awaiting what would happen next. The adventures of Luffy and his crew became my own, their victories and struggles mirroring the ups and downs of my childhood.
What captivated me most was Luffy’s unwavering determination. No matter how insurmountable the challenge, whether it was defeating a mighty foe or saving a friend in need, Luffy never gave up. He approached every obstacle with a smile on his face and a firm belief in his own abilities. This sense of optimism and resilience was infectious. As a kid, I was inspired by Luffy’s belief that no dream was too big and that with enough courage and determination, anything was possible.
But it wasn’t just Luffy who left an impression on me. The entire Straw Hat crew, with their unique personalities and backgrounds, taught me valuable lessons about friendship and loyalty. Zoro’s unwavering commitment to his promise to never lose again, Nami’s fierce determination to protect her village, Sanji’s struggle between his dreams and his sense of duty—each character brought something unique to the table, and together, they formed a family that was bound not by blood, but by shared dreams and mutual respect.
The theme of friendship in One Piece resonated deeply with me. Growing up, I found myself drawing parallels between the bonds shared by the Straw Hats and my own friendships. Just like Luffy and his crew, my friends and I supported each other through thick and thin, standing by one another in the face of challenges. One Piece taught me that true friends are those who stick with you, even when the seas get rough. It showed me that with the right people by your side, no dream is out of reach.
Another aspect of One Piece that stayed with me was the idea of never giving up, no matter how difficult the journey might be. Throughout the series, Luffy and his crew encounter countless obstacles, from fearsome enemies to the unpredictable forces of nature. Yet, they never waver in their resolve. This theme of perseverance was a constant reminder to me, especially during tough times, to keep pushing forward. It inspired me to face my own challenges with the same determination and grit that Luffy showed in his quest.
As I grew older, One Piece continued to be a source of comfort and inspiration. It wasn’t just a show I watched as a kid; it became a lifelong companion that I could return to whenever I needed a reminder of the values it taught me. The lessons of friendship, bravery, and never giving up have stayed with me ever since, shaping the person I am today.
In many ways, One Piece is more than just an anime; it’s a story that speaks to the heart of what it means to dream, to struggle, and to triumph. It’s a tale of adventure that continues to captivate me, even years after I first discovered it. And as Luffy and his crew sail ever closer to the ultimate treasure, I know that the journey with them will continue to be one of the most cherished parts of my life.

Hello there
Can I please get the straw hats reaction to reader who is an marine admiral quitting the marine and wanting to join the them
Gender neutral please
Thanks for the request!
Luffy
He is ecstatic
Another crew member that he can hold dear to his heart
Unlike most of the crew, you came willingly
Of course, this caused the crew to be suspicious, but Luffy is bouncing around with excitement
I mean he already has two people in the navy who like him, what could go wrong by accepting an Admiral into his crew?
“Show me that move again!” He will constantly be watching you train, and ogle in awe at the amount of strength you have
But be warned, once you show him it once, you’re gonna have to do it again
You’re gonna have to get used to the chaotic nature of Luffy and his “plans” because it isn’t structured like the Navy
But that also gives you more freedom to do what you want… as long as you help/save Luffy on the way
He’ll kinda treat you like a new toy, and after that wears off he’ll treat you like the rest of the crew
Don’t delude yourself though, he is still your captain, and when in desperate situations he will get serious with you (another thing you have to get used to)
8/10 is not bad, but he needs to chill a little— can’t blame him though, you are an ex-navy admiral
Zoro
Opposite of Luffy
Not excited, but suspicious and a little angry
Sure it may be nice to have one less “enemy” and one more crew member, but he is on edge about your allegiance
You could be a spy for all he knows or an underhand way for the navy to kill Luffy and his crew
And he won’t be having any of that
He’ll be taking fewer naps, and opt to watch you instead. He’ll always be tense around you. He’s getting ready in case you attack
He won’t say anything since his captain already accepted you, but that doesn’t mean he’ll welcome you
Don’t think that trying to suck up to him will help you either. He’ll accept whatever you offer (ex: money for a sword), but he’ll only see that as you trying to gain his trust to backstab him later
The only way for you to gain his trust is to a) give them your backstory and why you quit the navy and joined them b) Stay with them long enough to just naturally become a member (as well as help them in ways that hurt the navy— several times) c) nearly die trying to save someone from the crew
After one or a combination of all of those things, he will no longer question you and relax and open up a bit
You’ll know that the first mate trusts you when he’ll share a cup of sake and take a nap— right in front of you
3/10 the only good this is that he’s not cutting your gut open
Nami
She is also suspicious of you too, but she hides it better than Zoro
Instead, she’ll leave the watching to Zoro, and go to Robin to discuss her worries (they are such an iconic duo)
Nami knows that Luffy will accept anyone onto the crew, so she feels responsible for making sure it’s in the best interests of the Strawhats
She’ll weigh the pros and cons carefully and advise everyone to be careful, but at the end of the day Luffy listens to no one
She won’t outright shun you, but she’ll be wary around you
That is until… you give her money
This tactic may not work on Zoro, but it will work on her
All of a sudden you’re her new favorite person
Just sit out on the deck with Nami and Robin and listen to Nami talk about how stupid the rest of the crew is
If you make cool-headed decisions and can stop the crew from getting into disasters, Nami will forever be thankful
It might take a while for her to warm up, but when she does (or when you give her money) be prepared for a feisty friend
7/10 can be unwelcoming, but it doesn’t take much to win her over
Usopp
Like everyone except Luffy, he is wary (and mostly scared, you could beat him up)
Seeing his nervous and pessimistic nature, he would not believe that you are on their side
He’ll try to act cool and distrusting, but once he sees you do something funny he’ll buckle
Bad people can’t be funny - Usopp. At least that’s what he seems to think
If you mess around with him, Chopper, and Luffy you’re good
No suspicions after
He’ll show you his inventions and will prank you from time to time
He’ll welcome you with wide arms
(He’s just glad that he doesn’t have to fight someone so powerful)
He act’s pretty normal
He just treats you like any other crew member
8/10 fun, until he tests out a new invention on you
Sanji
Isn’t really on edge
He knows that he can’t change Luffy’s mind so he won’t bother trying
Of course, he’ll be careful, but he trusts that the crew can handle it if something does arise
As long as you appreciate his food you’re fine
Just don’t waste it
Because if you do, that’s when his unwelcoming side comes out
But I don’t think that’ll be a problem, because his food is amazing
6/10 he is pretty indifferent
Chopper
Is nervous, but if Luffy gives the okay, then it's okay
...right?
Is confused on why you would quit the navy and join a pirate group (just like the rest of them), but he doesn’t ask why
If you get hurt, ad go to him he’ll treat you
Then compliment him and he’ll get all gushy
The moral of the story— just compliment him and you’ll be fine
Hang out with him, Usopp, and Luffy—> and the goofy trio will become a quartet
Make him Cotton-candy and he’ll let you pat his head
It truly isn’t too different from how he treats everyone else, aside from the rocky beginning
He is amazed at how strong you are
(And then he thinks about how difficult things could’ve been if you stayed in the navy)
8/10 nothing to complain about here
Robin
Isn’t on edge
After all, didn't she join similarly?
And she knows that Luffy will do what he wants to do, so she’ll just stick to reading her books
I feel like she would be the most welcoming (without having to do anything on your part)
You can come to her and talk about how you feel like you are somewhat an outcast in the group, and she’ll listen and sympathize
You guys could relate to a lot of things
This doesn't mean she isn’t watching you
She is very observant due to the way she grew up, and old habits die hard
But don’t be too sad, she watches everyone (mostly to make sure no one gets hurt)
If you ask her she’ll give you tips on how to win over each of the crew members
She would know because she had to do it
10/10 super helpful and welcoming
Franky
I can see him being suspicious, but not caring
Again, no one can control Luffy, so he’s just gonna do whatever he usually does
He’ll let you watch him, and help him out with whatever
He’ll joke around, and act pretty normal
He’s still suspicious but he is too super to care
Because he also trusts that the crew can handle anything if things go south
If you can connect him with Vegapunk, I think you would be his favorite person
That’s because he can make more beams
Giving him cola would also help ease his suspicions
6/10 Like Sanji he’s indifferent
Brook
Will quirk a non-existing eyebrow, but your joining would not be the strangest thing he’s seen
He’s gonna try to be welcoming and get you settled since many other members are still on edge around you
He knows that Luffy wants you on the crew, so he’ll do everything in his power to try and make you as comfortable as possible
But he will not hesitate to protect the crew if he thinks you are up to something
His loyalty lies with them, and not you— yet
He can’t afford to lose his crew again, don't be upset about it
But after sailing around for a while, he’ll accept you into the family
I can see you two having tea time, while he asks you what it was like being a navy admiral
And he will admire the fact that you were able to attain such a high rank and respect you as such
9/10 is not bad, and he’ll hide his suspensions well
Jinbei
Does not think it’s a smart idea to accept you on the crew
And he will voice his opinions
But don't worry, Luffy won’t listen anyway
Seeing as he is an ex-warlord of the sea, he would probably somewhat know you. Or at least heard about you before
He just doesn't trust that an admiral would drop their position to sail with the Strawhats
He won’t show his distrust like Zoro (he’s more mature than that), but that doesn't mean it’s not there
He just wants whatever is in the best interest of Luffy
But what is done is done, so he does try his best to push aside his preconceived notions and get to know you and welcome you
Like Zoro, he wouldn’t trust you until you prove your loyalty
I can see him joining the Brook tea times, and listening in on what life was like as and Admiral
And if you’re lucky he’ll share what it was like on Fishman island
8/10 nothing to complain about, other than him being a bit cold

I feel like I’ve found my kin, I fell in love with Kakashi when I was like 8 LOL. Can I request some general yandere Zoro headcanons btw? I loved/still love him too 😶
Yes you may ahhh!!!! I love Zoro so much. I love writing for fandoms like this bc shounen anime are... Well, shounen, they're aimed at dudes, so they tend to not have as large of a female audience so there's not a lot of content out there. I love Luffy and there's like zero girl-targeted content for him. I swear I've spent so much time looking for wholesome, decent LuNa (my otp im sorry i just hhhh) doujins that aren't super male-oriented, and there's like... 2. For a 900+ episode anime. 2.
I also love the concept of a yandere in a situation where they CAN'T kidnap you, they're limited by their circumstances, so they have to kind of adjust or go insane. It's an interesting dynamic because it eliminates the norm for yanderes.
I think I mentioned this but I'm not 100% caught up with one piece (I mean, who is?), so I'm just keeping it simplistic and going with kinda basic Zoro and nothing with specific character developments or any spoilers other than his backstory
Yandere Roronoa Zoro (One Piece)
Tws: all the usuals -- yandere, noncon, kidnapping
He meets you while he's lost. I'm sorry I just. Zoro gets lost in the middle of some place they're docked, and you're just such a sweetheart, you see this guy clearly not knowing where he's going, and offer to help him. He's kind of taken aback by your softness and sweetness.
He's not easily made aware of his own feelings. He's a rough and tough sort of guy, and he has dedicated himself to swordsmanship so much that he's neglected to focus on himself and his interpersonal relationships, and he's not really self aware at all of his own feelings, very out of touch with his emotions.
Obviously, even if he tries to shove it down, Kuina weighs heavily on his mind in relation to you. He's another man that has known loss and it's dealt its damage on his psyche. He can't lose another person who's dear to him again.
This results in him becoming insanely protective, one of the most protective yans out there. He's easily one led into paranoia delusions regarding your safety. However, he's an honest and reasonable guy and can be level-headed when confronted. If someone (not yourself, as he thinks you're naive, but maybe another girl like Nami or Robin) tells him he's being overprotective and exaggerating about your safety, he may actually have a moment of self-realization and admit to it. He's capable of being reasonable enough to see it once it's pointed out to him. However... this doesn't stop him. He tries, really, he genuinely tells himself that he needs to stop. But his instincts just kind of take over. It's an impulse, to stop you from doing even the most slightly dangerous things.
Once you join the Straw Hat Crew, he just kinda... clings. It's a silent presence, but he's always there, constantly seems to show up wherever you are. Unfortunately, you can't really... get away from him per se. You're kinda limited to one ship, at least as long as you're out on the sea. Your only option for respite is going to your room or bathing, otherwise, he's gonna follow you, even if he's not saying anything and (very badly) trying to feign indifference, pretending you just happen to be going the same way all the time. He doesn't really know what to say, he's not good with these things, and often he's acting without really thinking too much about it. He won't usually strike up a conversation, he just... is there. Watches. May awkwardly ask a question or make a passing comment.
One scenario I imagine is you jokingly picking up one of his swords and wielding it around giggling and he just flips out, takes it from you and yells at you not to do that, are you an idiot? Do you want to trip and fall and have that impale you? Do you realize how easy it would be for you to slice your arm open by accident? It's startling to both you and anyone watching -- even for someone who gets yell-y as easily as him, it seems like an overreaction. He'll apologize but insist it's a safety thing, really.
And he really tries to hide his more... aggressive nature, because he thinks it will drive you away -- he's a blunt, tough guy with a short-fused temper, and he thinks that's definitely not something women like very much. He tries not to yell at you, not get mad so easy, keep his calm better around you, and might even be nicer to others so that you don't think he's mean. And for the most part, he can manage that. Except when it comes to a very specific, very problematic blonde crew member. His little conflicts with Sanji get worse, to even a point that he's snapping at him so frequently that even Sanji himself is a bit bewildered and caught off guard by it. The others notice they fight a lot more often... and Zoro always seems to instigate it, picking quarrels over the littlest things. In reality, he's afraid of the other's... sleazy nature. He can't have you falling for that bastard. He even starts to get jittery when you're in the presence of Franky, Usopp, hell even Luffy of all people. It's noticeable, and everyone kinda worries for him.
He kicks himself for it as soon as he does it, but he finds himself insulting you nonetheless. It's a terrible habit. He gets so awkward and flustered that it's second nature for him to say something snarky or even rude when you talk to him, and he immediately is just mentally screaming at himself for doing so. This will get a bit better with time, though, if you two talk more often.
Now, even if you can fight, you're never gonna really get the opportunity. In battle, he's clinging to you and protecting you at every moment, even if it costs the others some unnecessary wounds. It's highly uncharacteristic of him, and they notice. He won't leave your side, insisting that you're a weak fighter and that he has to take care of you. You just don't get it, you overestimate yourself, you underestimate your enemies, you're a girl. What, Nami and Robin? Well, they've been at this much longer than you, and they had rough upbringings. You're different. You're soft... fragile. You just can't see it. You're lucky he's here to protect your dumbass.
Due to your setup, well, he can't really kidnap you per se. He undoubtedly would if you two were somewhere else, in another life or another setting, but that's not really an option, and even as a yandere, he would never go so far as to kill or abandon his crew. So, he's stuck with just... slowly, slowly mentally deteriorating.
Now, he's not capable of kidnapping, he's not smart enough to really manipulate you into anything (although he WILL tell you that some of the other guys are out to use you), so, he's left to be the guard dog he inevitably becomes to you. If you avoid him, he'll just follow you. If you don't talk to him, that's ok. If you confront him, he'll just insist he has no idea what you're talking about, and you'll start to feel like maybe you're just paranoid. The others... don't really know what to do, to be honest. I can see Nami/Robin potentially confronting him, but in the end, they can't force him to change his behaviors, and they can't afford to lose him. This results in, gradually, everyone slowly kind of accepting your dynamic onboard. They feel bad for you, really, but... in the end, Zoro's just more valuable to the crew. Sorry. They're not gonna get rid of him, but they don't want to get rid of you either.
If you leave? It may just be one of the very very few things that could ever cause him to leave the Strawhats. It would tear him up, really, it goes against his dreams, his pride, his loyalty, but in the end... his loyalty is first and foremost to you. He'll follow you if you leave. It's a bad move on your part, because this gets rid of the only thing standing between you and kidnapping. Which, at that point, surely will happen. Like his other behaviors, he'll feel bad, he'll try and stop himself, tell himself it's wrong, but you'll end up bound in some dark basement nonetheless. He's one to take a very simple approach. Find you alone, sling you up and over his shoulder and carry you off before anyone can come.
Rejection doesn't faze him. No matter what, he'll remain by your side. Even if you never love him in return. It's just his nature, he's a guardian through and through.
In the end, he'll be right there by your side, scaring off any competitors, clinging to you like glue, ever in your presence like a shadow, forever. Whether you want him to or not. He's just an inescapable force, an unmovable object, and you're wasting your time trying to change your fate.
Now, he's very flustered with anything sexual. Highly embarrassed, lots of shame, and doesn't talk much about it. It just kind of happens. He doesn't talk much during, mostly grunts and the occasional fuck when you clamp down, occasionally asking you if you're ok, if it hurts, if it feels good. It's one of the only very soft sides of him. In the end, he really, truly loves you, and doesn't want to hurt you, he wants you to feel good and just love him. It's a very different side to him, one no one else has ever really seen, it's the most vulnerable he himself has ever been with another person.
He feels shame for it, but initially he'll definitely be one to steal your things, sit outside of your room at night, listening to you through the wall, try and get glimpses of you bathing or dressing. He really, really feels guilty, and he's one that will, once you're comfortably restrained and never going anywhere, just sit down and list out every nasty little thing he's ever done regarding you, just to get it off his chest. He understands if you react badly, and he'll apologize, which is a bit ironic considering how much worse kidnapping you is.
He'll apologize for that, too. He's actually one to do so a lot. He's normally a proud guy, but with this? He knows it's wrong, he knows it's fucked up. He knows he can't stop. And he'll be sorry to the moon and back. Just never sorry enough to stop.
He's actually a pretty vanilla guy. Hand-holding missionary type. And, despite being so embarrassed over it all, oddly romantic about it. It's one of the only things he's ever soft and gentle about, it's almost unbelievable to you that he's capable of being so gentle and slow with anything. But he'll kiss your forehead, really take his time with it all, make you cum on his fingers before ever actually fucking you. Hold your hand, look into your eyes. It would be honestly incredibly sweet if it weren't... you know, taking place in some dark sealed off room after dragging you there against your will.
If he's particularly mad, he can get rougher, but he'll apologize after. It's a lot of harsh grabbing, biting, it leaves bruises that he'll rub over softly, whispering an apology, even if a little part of him likes the way it looks on you.

Never Felt Such Fear Before
Summary:
Firstly we all know how they find Brook and all the thriller bark before Kuma and to be honest there wasn't much to tell so I decided to continue from Sanji and Zoro's talk with Kuma. Enjoy
Chapter Text
"Okay. I'll let you get a head! But in return, please take my life! I want this from you! My head may not be worth much right now, but this is the head of a man who will eventually become the best swordsman in the world! It should be valuable!” “You want to take that man's place and die even though you have such a big dream?” “Other than that, I don't see any other way to save my crew, no my pack. A head alpha's life is worthless if he can't protect his captain and pack leader! Luffy will be the king of pirates!
Zoro knew he was in trouble. He didn't stand a chance against this man. He was very weak. If he was convinced, the rest would be saved. Surely they would get used to his absence one day. As long as they are saved.
“Wait, you bloody scumbag!”
This sound… It can't be. No. He shouldn't be here.
“What will happen to your dream if you die? How are you going to succeed, idiot?!” "You…" “Hey, big guy!”
What was he doing? How could he still walk? With those wounds… Especially on his chest… And why wasn’t Zoro doing anything? How could he let him get in front of him?
"Hey!" “Take my life instead of this moss-headed swordsman! The Marines may not see me as a threat right now, but soon, this Black Leg Sanji will be the one who will cause the most trouble in this crew!”
Zoro should have stopped him. He was barely standing. He was shaking, but beyond all that, Zoro's heart tightened. There was no moment in his life where he was more afraid. Zoro didn't even know about such fear. He was afraid of losing him.
Sanji felt the same. It wasn't hard for him to get up when he heard Zoro speak. Fear had taken over and ruled his body. That's why he could stand in front of Kuma right now.
Would they feel this way even if it was someone else?
“Come on, do this… Take My Life instead of this man..! We both agreed to the sacrifices we had to make! Let this flower of death bloom once and for all! Hey, tell everybody. Be careful. And keep protecting them as head alpha. Don't let this happen again. I'm sorry, but it looks like you have to find yourself another cook."
He was completely ready to die. Zoro couldn't listen to him anymore. He would go crazy if he listened. With all his remaining strength, he struck the back of his sword at Sanji.
“S-scum…”
Sanji was barely standing by then. It was impossible for him to withstand this powerful blow from him. Zoro would never forget how Sanji's hand made a downward path on his arm and collapsed to the ground, but he never regretted it. He would be safe and that was enough. Just so he can be saved.
“This is my last wish!” “I would have risked my honor if I had touched the straw hat afterward.” "I owe you." "You can trust me. I will keep my promise."
So Kuma lifted Luffy and with his power, he pulled a balloon out of him.
“What I took out of her body was his pain and stress. That's the damage he accumulated in his body from all those fights. If you want to take his place, naturally you have to take all his pain as well. That's what a head alpha does, right? But since you were already on the verge of death, it would be impossible for you to survive. You will die. Please try some.”
And he couldn't help his screams like a small part of him entered his body. He fell to the ground.
"How was it?" “Just let me pick the place.”
It was enough. Everything was fine. Even if he didn't survive it, he didn't regret it. Others would be fine. Luffy, Sanji… Why did he think of Sanji's smile just now? He should have thought of Luffy. Not Sanji, but he couldn't get him out of his mind. His smile, his meals, fighting style, the way he lits his cigarette... All the memories flooded his mind one by one.
He took a deep breath. It calmed his heart. He looked behind him again. He couldn't see them. They couldn't see him either. It was a good point. He was ready now. He stepped into the balloon with sure steps.

Time
Pairing: Sanji x F!Reader
Summary: Time is such an essential variable for a pirate cook like you. But outside cooking, you try your best not pay attention to it, most especially when it comes to the past. And yet because of the unpredictability of the Grand Line, you’ve come across someone from your past who you desperately wanted to forget. This incident makes you realize that despite how much time passes, sometimes feelings don’t really change.
Song reference/inspiration: Don’t You by Taylor Swift
Word Count: 2.4k
A/N: It’s done! It’s finally done! I had this idea for quite some time now and I’m finally done with it. Imagine my relief. 😌 I liked how this turned out! But please let me know your thoughts about it… 🥺👉🏼👈🏼
There are a lot of oddities in the Grand Line. Among the concepts that are too complex to be explained are the drastic changes in the weather, the crazy magnetic fields of islands, and devil fruit powers.
What doesn’t change is the concept of time. In all technicality, time is what the clock reads. And regardless of your location inside or outside the Grand Line, it’s set on stone. There’s sixty seconds in a minute, sixty minutes in an hour, twenty four hours in a day, seven days in a week, and so on. It’s a fact that’s definitive, irrefutable, and beyond dispute.
And as a cook of the Kid Pirates, time is one of the essential variables, alongside temperature, in bringing dishes to life. That much you learned and mastered from the years you’ve been observing chefs in a certain restaurant in East Blue before you ran away to the South.
However, outside the kitchen — or to be more precise, outside cooking — you don’t pay too much attention to the time and dates, similar to your Captain, Kid.
You and your Captain would need Killer to inform you about preparing banquets and feasts for birthday celebrations for crew members, or to remind you of other important dates.
While you’re completely capable of keeping track of time, you didn’t want to and wouldn’t bother. What’s the point, really? It’s just that you didn’t want to be reminded of just how long since you ran away from the chefs who took you under their wing. You didn’t want to be reminded of just how long since you’ve last seen a certain curly-browed cook who you fell in love with but unfortunately got turned down from.
You’re entirely fine by saying it’s been a while since you’ve last seen those people. There isn’t any need to label a precise quantity of time since that moment in your life. It’s all in the past, and you have long learned to keep yourself busy so as not to be reminded of them in any way.
After all, remembering them always leads to pangs straight to your heart, and as a member of the Kid Pirates, it’s highly discouraged to wear your heart on your sleeve and show vulnerabilities like that.
Since leaving Baratie, you moved along with your life. You worked at a local restaurant in South Blue and somehow ended up meeting Kid and Killer. With Eustass Kid being impressed with your skills in the kitchen and the air of authority you exude while working, he demanded you join their crew. And in all honesty, it didn’t take too much convincing on their part as you too wanted to travel the world, and perhaps find All Blue, a dream you shared with the man you fell in love with.
Pledging loyalty to Eustass Kid is one of the decisions you could never regret. Ever since joining the crew, they have become masters of being subtle in their ways of showing they all care for you. And it’s only evident by the way they’re all overprotective of you (even if you’ve pretty much mastered self defense and the art of using a gun) simply because among the group of brutes, you looked like a lone flower — splendid, precious, and delicate. And due to that, traveling the seas with the Kid Pirates is particularly enjoyable for you; dangerous, sure, but enjoyable nonetheless.
On account of the unpredictability of the Grand Line; more precisely the New World, you have learned to always be ready to face anything. But maybe you aren’t as prepared as you thought you are.
Because somehow, in between gathering food supplies alone for the crew and fighting against a group of Marines who found you, you came face to face with the cook you desperately wanted to forget.
And to make matters much worse, when you quite literally bumped into him, you’ve already been shot twice by the Marines, leading you to lose your consciousness right in his arms.
For some reason, with how huge the Grand Line is, you have never taken into consideration the probability of meeting him once again. And this unpreparedness unsettles you right away. So when you wake up in the Straw Hats’ sailing ship, all bandaged up and weak from the loss of blood, you’re quick to show hostility as a defense mechanism.
But that facade doesn’t last long, your mask easily slipping after a day with the crew, showing your naturally gentle and sweet side to everyone except to a certain man named Sanji. Ultimately, it’s quite impossible for you to remain hostile and aggressive in the presence of such nice and hospitable characters, especially when they kindly offered to drop you off to the next island and allowed you to contact Kid to let him know about your predicament.
You do, however, isolate yourself from the Straw Hats as much as possible. The only time you allow yourself to be in everyone’s presence is during meal times. As a chef, you know well enough that food is at its best when served right away and eaten in the presence of company.
But you aren’t dumb. You know the dishes served by Sanji aren't purely coincidental. With just one look at the table, you could easily recognize all of your favorite meals — meals that reminded you of the days when you had fallen in love with him. It’s blatantly obvious that some of the foods on the table are made especially for you.
This is where your reservations come in. After all, the reason why your favorite foods were your favorites was because they’re what Sanji used to cook when you’re upset. And because of your feelings for him, the food would always make your heart full and happy. And to be honest, you didn’t want to remember that feeling.
Moreover, you didn’t want to give Sanji the impression that everything’s fine between the two of you. You also didn’t want him to think that you’ve forgiven him for turning you down, and proceeding to step on your heart by letting you watch him flirt with other girls.
If you were any other person, you probably wouldn’t even touch the meals he made to prove these points. But you’re a cook, and it’s against your morals to let food come to waste. The most you can do so as not to give Sanji the upper hand is to stop yourself from eating as much as you usually would, regardless of how delicious the food is.
You can tell it’s working from the way Sanji’s lips are slightly downturned as he watches you only take a nibble of your favorites while consuming the other meals that are meant for the other crew members. This goes unnoticed by the others though; they’re too enamored with the new variety of dishes on the table to even pay attention.
This goes on for a few meal times, but you have to admit that despite only taking a few bites of the dishes you used to love, they’re still capable of bringing back the memories of your past with Sanji, maybe not in full force, but it’s enough to disconcert you.
On your third day with the Straw Hats, after seeing him fawn over Nami and Robin, the tension between you and Sanji becomes a little too overwhelming for you to the point where you feel the need to hide in the crow’s nest to calm yourself down.
When you get there, you’re surprised yet relieved that Zoro isn’t there. You instantly take a seat facing the window. You relish the silence. But it’s only momentary, broken by the sound of someone knocking on the door.
Rude as it may be, you don’t acknowledge the person. Whoever it is still enters the room anyway.
“Y/N-chan, can we talk?”
You hate the way your heart starts wildly pounding again just by the mere sound of Sanji’s voice.
“I thought we’ve established the fact that I don’t want to talk to you,” you respond coldly.
This doesn’t discourage Sanji though. “If you don’t want to talk, that’s fine. But will you please listen to me?”
You frown, but you remain silent. Sometimes, most especially at times like this, you wish you could hate him. But that’s just something you can’t do no matter how hard you try.
He takes your silence as a good sign, so he sits himself beside you.
You aren’t looking at him, but you can feel his eyes on you. This lasts for a few minutes, Sanji just gazing at you without uttering a word.
You didn’t mean to count, but by the second minute of silence, you snap. “What? I thought you wanted to tell me something? Why aren’t you talking?”
He looks away and clears his throat. “Sorry about that. I didn’t mean to stare. It’s just… it’s been five years since I last saw you.”
His statement takes you by surprise. Has it already been five years since you left Baratie? And more importantly, was Sanji keeping count?
For whatever reason, Sanji chuckles. He faces you once again and smiles, “It’s been five years but you still look as gorgeous and radiant as ever.”
As always, Sanji has a way with his words. The compliment makes your heart beat impossibly faster. But you know you shouldn’t fall for his words. “Sanji, don’t. Let’s not go there,” you say with a sigh.
He visibly deflates at your response. And it makes you want to take back what you’ve just said. “What have you been up to?” He tries asking, his voice low enough you almost don’t hear him, as if this conversation hurts him just as much as it pains you.
You didn’t really plan on responding. The agreement was to let Sanji do the talking and you do the listening, but you can see his sad expression in the corner of your eye and it tugs your heartstrings a little bit so you reply, “I’m a pirate now.”
“You are?” He perks up upon hearing you responding. “Who’s your captain?”
You finally face him, wanting to see his reaction. “Eustass Kid.”
His face instantly contorts into displeasure. “Kid?” He asks once again. When you nod your head, there’s a different look on his face, almost like he’s angry or he’s annoyed. “Why Kid? Don’t tell me he forced you to do it?! That bas—”
But before he could even finish his sentence, you pull out your gun and point it at his head.
He’s taken aback by your speed and the look of determination in your eyes.
“Watch your words, Sanji.” You cock your gun. “Just because we’re on speaking terms doesn’t mean I won’t shoot you. You can call me bad names if you want, break my heart like you did, but if you say one more bad thing about my captain, I won’t hesitate on putting a bullet through your head,” you threaten.
Sanji gulps, raises his hands in surrender, and nods his head.
Yet you pull the trigger anyway. Sanji could only close his eyes once he sees your finger move.
But there’s no impact at all. When he tentatively opens his eyes, he sees you putting away your gun in its previous location.
You’re well aware that you have no ammunition left, having used them all up when you fought the Marines, but sometimes even an unloaded gun is enough to intimidate and scare someone into submission, and to get your point across.
Silence envelopes the crow’s nest after that incident. Sanji isn’t afraid of you per se, he’s just a little bit surprised with the change in your attitude.
For a moment the thought of you having feelings for Kid passes through his mind, and he internally gets upset with the thought. In fact, he hates it but he doesn’t let it dissuade him from trying to make amends with you.
He allows you to have a couple more minutes of silence. But when he has decided that it’s time for him to talk, the first thing he blurts out is, “I missed you a lot when you left.”
His confession breaks something in you. You didn’t like the way you equally liked and hated hearing this from him. “Sanji, don’t…” your voice cracks and your vision blurs. “Don’t smile at me. Don’t ask me how I’ve been. Don’t you say you’ve missed me if you don’t want me. Don’t get my hopes up, because you don’t know how much I love you still. Just don’t…”
“Y/N-chan…” he calls out to you, his hand hesitantly reaching out to you. And when you don’t protest, he pulls you into a hug, rubbing his hands gently on your back.
Sanji hates seeing you like this — so defeated and broken, all because of him. He didn’t like seeing you cry. But right now he knows he needs to explain himself. “I liked you too back then…”
You pull away in shock after hearing his words, wiping the tears in your eyes. Just as you’re about to ask why he turned you down, he continues, “But the old geezer was against it. He says if I couldn’t stay loyal to you, then I’d only hurt you more and make matters worse.”
What Sanji was saying makes a lot of sense. Zeff highly respects women, which was why he couldn’t turn you away when you had nowhere else to stay. And knowing Sanji, you can tell just how much he looks up to him, despite him always talking back to the older chef. It’s only natural for him to heed Zeff’s words.
“I was young and I didn’t think I was ready yet, so I turned you down as gently as I could… and when you said it was fine, I was so relieved. But then you left without a word and I… I just… I really did miss you all these years.”
“What about now?”
“Huh?”
“Do you still… like me?” You ask meekly.
Sanji smiles, which makes you feel butterflies in your stomach. “I do, but…”
You sigh sadly, “But?”
He looks over the window, and you follow his gaze. The sight of Luffy being chased around by Usopp on the deck welcomes you. “My loyalty still lies elsewhere.”
You immediately understand what he’s trying to say, and for the first time since you arrived in the Thousand Sunny, you genuinely smile. “Someday, then?”
Sanji faces you once again, and reciprocates your smile. “Yeah. Someday.”
