i love finishing a book or movie and then going to read reviews of it so i can judge them for being wrong

#watched the substance and one of the reviews was like 'maybe i didnt get the movie but you cant convince me demi moore is ugly'#that is correct you didnt get the movie #shes not ugly but she lets beauty standards get to her until she thinks she actually is #real people like the friend she met from school think shes gorgeous! bc she is!#its all abt her body image and perception of herself #she makes the 'old' version of herself rot inside instead of going out and living what could be an amazing life #shes fixated on her own youth and beauty to the point that she becomes a monster #and then in the end she finds the same pleasure of the flashing lights and attention and Hollywood glamor #by stopping to enjoy a simple pleasure like looking up at the stars #im biting the bars of my enclosure #i rly loved this movie #README

the really beautiful landscape/skyscape animation in makoto shinkai's works tends to be the big thing i see focused on and that is understandable and deserved like the weather and lighting effects are unREAL but i do think we should also appreciate how absolute insane the plotlines of his original movies get. at least two movies with in universe catastrophes with major ecological implications. the guns and explosions. theres that one movie i havent seen yet with the guy who turns into a chair (?)

Expected it to be dull, or pretentious. Pleasantly, it is neither. But the ending is quite lackluster. Reminds me a lot of another Italian production, Tear Along The Dotted Line, where the protagonist goes on philosophical rants.
