Hi, ich bin Marlin! Ich hänge seit Jahren auf Tumblr rum, habe aber bisher selten selber gepostet und hauptsächlich gereblogged, weil ich zu schüchtern war. Jetzt habe ich endlich entschieden, dass ich einen Sideblog für meine Schreibprojekte erstelle (hauptsächlich für meine eigene Organisation und Motivation) und versuche, aktiver zu sein.

⫸ Aktuelle Projekte ⫷

Ich arbeite im Moment am aktivsten an ein paar verschiedenen Geschichten, die alle in der gleichen Welt spielen (zum Teil allerdings zu etwas verschiedenen Zeiten), die ich in meinen Notizen "Leviathan-Welt" nenne - nach den riesigen Kreaturen, die in den Tiefen des Ozeans leben (und manchmal im Himmel, wenn auch nicht natürlicherweise, aber wer kann schon Himmelswalen widerstehen).

Alle diese Geschichten sind queer, auf verschiedene Arten, und die meisten enthalten Elemente von body horror, wenn man das so nennen kann.

Bisher haben alle Geschichten noch Arbeitstitel und befinden sich in sehr unterschiedlichen Draft-Stages. Wie immer habe ich viel zu viel in dieser Welt geplant, aber die vier, die ich hier aufliste, sind die, die ich gerade aktiv schreibe:

Samen unter unserer Haut

Genre: Magical Academy Fantasy, Coming-of-age story

Setting: Inselgruppen und Archipele nahe dem Äquator, wo die Leviathane im Großen und Ganzen sowohl verehrt als auch gefürchtet werden, als mächtige Kreaturen mit einer Verbindung zur Geisterwelt

Inhalt: Ein junges Mädchen, aufgewachsen als Seenomadin, tritt dem Tempel bei, der seit hundert Jahren die religiösen Praktiken der Inseln kontrolliert. Gegen ihren Willen wird sie zu einer Schlüsselfigur im Kampf um Macht und religiöse Freiheit, der dabei ist, den Tempel zu erfassen. Um Geisterbesessenheit, menschliche Intrigen und ideologische Konflikte zu überleben, muss sie ihre Identität und Weltsicht neu verhandeln und sich neu erfinden.

Honigkuchen und blutiger Samt

Genre: Steampunk Fantasy, (Cozy?) Mystery, Romance

Setting: eine Hafenstadt des nördlichen Kontinents, bekannt für ihre Leviathanjäger, hier ist eine technologische Revolution im Gange, da seit kurzem Leviathanblut zu einem starken Treibstoff umgewandelt werden kann

Inhalt: Eine Reporterin für eine radikale Untergrundzeitschrift und eine Schneiderin, die in die Golemrechtsbewegung involviert ist, werden zusammengeworfen, als ein Mann vor ihren Augen stirbt. Sie müssen zusammenarbeiten und das Verbrechen aufklären, und es gleichzeitig vor der Wache verbergen, um ihrer beider Geheimnisse zu bewahren.

Die Hälfte der Lichter

Genre: High Fantasy Adventure, Romance

Setting: eine Stadt auf dem Rücken eines Leviathans, außerdem der weite Himmel, die offene See und die Häfen der Schmuggler, Piraten und Boten

Inhalt: Eine wohlhabende, weltfremde junge Frau, die davon träumt, Wetterphänomene zu erforschen, flieht vor ihrer Pflicht, eine geistige Bindung mit dem Leviathan einzugehen, der ihre Heimatstadt auf seinem Rücken trägt. Sie schmuggelt sich an Bord eines Botenschiffes und findet sich unter einer zwielichtigen Schmugglermannschaft wieder. Sie wird involviert in Piratenabenteuer, eine politische Revolution und eine wachsende Zuneigung zu einer sturer Kämpferin mit einem starren Ehrenkodex und hohen Idealen.

Genre: Science Fantasy

Setting: eine große Stadt in subtropischem Klima, umgeben von Dschungel und Grasland, das von einem Virus erfasst wurde, der die Natur und alles Lebende grotesk verformt

Inhalt: Ein junges Mädchen vom Land kommt in die Stadt um nach ihrer vermissten Schwester zu suchen, und kommt in Kontakt mit einer Organisation, die den menschlichen Körper perfektionieren möchte. Eine ehrgeizige Wissenschaftlerin kämpft darum, für ihr Genie anerkannt zu werden und die Fehler ihrer Vergangenheit geheim zu halten. Eine alte Frau ist gezwungen, sich einem Kampf anzuschließen, vor dem sie sich seit langer Zeit versteckt hält, und alte Kräfte zu reaktivieren, um ihren Enkel zu retten. Alle drei werden das Gesicht der Stadt verändern.

Anime marathons, blanket fort in front of his TV, missed gaming sessions, lots of fruit snacks, pestering his more knowledgeable brothers about what humans need when they are ill, few freakouts when you end up getting sicker before you get better, getting flustered when you fall asleep on him as he helps you cool off:

Ok but like:

Luocha’s coffin apparently has/is a bit of the remains of Tayzzyronth, Aeon of the Propagation.

Ruan Mei is experimenting with the Propagation.

Ruan Mei was name-dropped in Feixiao’s conversation with Yukong about Tingyun’s whereabouts, and again I think by Yaoguang during the conversation with Jing Yuan, Huaiyan and Feixiao.

I have a few guesses:

Ruan Mei somehow got her hands on Tayzzyronth’s remains, and Luocha somehow received/stole them from her.

Based on the events in Penacony with the Beyond the Sky Choir, and Sunday apparently almost ascending to Aeonhood in his boss fight…I feel like Luocha’s plan involves resurrecting Tayzzyronth. (After somewhat finishing the Swarm Disaster for Simulated Universe, a conversation with Herta mentions that Tayzzyronth might come back. How, we don’t know because they never said how.) Not tacking Jingliu in on the plan because I don’t think she would have ever agreed to this, but she’s marastruck and considering Luocha…um… *gestures at his Honkai Impact 3rd counterpart* Her being less mentally stable might have slightly helped Luocha into getting her onboard. (Again, this is just guesswork.)

As for why they would resort to using the Propagation, I’m going to guess their thought process was something like this.

The Abundance is all about abundant life and extending it for as long as possible. Yaoshi blesses the long-lived with immortality, regardless of the cost. It’s how we end up having the marastruck, the borisin and other immortal species, etcetera.

The thing is, in order for life to continue, they need resources. Food, water, places to live.

And just like how the Abundance spreads life, the Propagation spreads their kin — and they don’t just spread, they devour.

“But, Vanille, isn’t that a Voracity thing? If that’s what they’re going for, wouldn’t it make more sense to involve/revive a Leviathan—?”

I would like to point to poor Pure Sugar Child, a cat cake who we had to rescue from being gobbled up by one of those big-ass buggers while exploring the Seclusion Zone.

And speaking of Voracity, do you remember why Himeko and Welt didn’t join us for the Wardance?

Because they were helping Herta deliver Leviathan fossils to Ruan Mei.

Oroboros, the Aeon of Voracity, is a Leviathan.

I have no idea what the hell Luocha, Ruan Mei and/or Jingliu are thinking. This is all just (likely very poor) guesswork.

But, if things are how I think they’re gonna go, shit’s going to hit the fan for the Xianzhou Alliance, and it won’t just be bug shit.

Ruan Mei & *Tingyun* in the Wardance quest

Yes okay neither of them appear in person. Hear me out.

So strangely, Ruan Mei comes up twice in this quest that should have nothing to do with her. In the very first scene, for example, when Himeko is explaining why she and Welt cannot attend the Wardance:

Essentially, they're delivering leviathan fossils to Ruan Mei. This will take a few weeks, apparently.

Which, sure. Could be a totally irrelevant little detail of background world building to get himeko and welt out of the plot for a bit. "A few weeks" is pretty much the amount of time that passes in the quest, so perhaps they'll even return in part 2. This alone could hint at future Ruan Mei stuff, but does not connect whatever she's doing to the Luofu or imply any really immediate story relevance.

But then we have the (genuinely pretty tertiary) discussion between Yukong and Feixiao. That being Feixiao, the very relevant Arbiter General and upcoming playable character.

Part of this character is just lore dump about the borisin and giving more insight into Feixiao's character. But Yukong here could be replaced by Feixiao's retainers, or really any characters Feixiao is suitably close to. Yukong being involved is nice for her character (which gets very little to do), but she specifically becomes relevant in this exchange:

So let's get this straight: Yukong asks Feixiao to investigate something, a thing Ruan Mei has beat them to. Then the game switches perspectives before the conversation ends.

I propose that Yukong was asking Feixiao to look into Tingyun's current whereabouts.

Evidence for this? Well, earlier on Yukong says that she hasn't seen Feixiao in person for thirty years, and has only "kept in touch" by hearing about her exploits on the news. So for her to reach out for help would require suitably dire straits. Like Tingyun, who Yukong is very fond of, getting taken over by a Destruction Emanator and seemingly dying, though that's a bit unclear.

And why would Ruan Mei be interested in Tingyun? It's not like she has a well documented history of involving herself in the affairs of dead emanators.... Except that that is literally what her quest is about. And yes, Tingyun is not the emanator here, but I think the connection is close enough for Ruan Mei to look into it.

And people have been theorising for a fair while that Tingyun will come back,,, I think this is a good explanation for how that could happen over a year after that on screen neck snap.

prompt: "It's been a long time"

Summary:

Dean's POV: Having to take care of Cas while he recovers from taking on Sam's trauma ("Dude, on my car... he showed up naked... covered in bees." -Dean S7 E23)

After what felt like forever listening to the phone ring, Sam finally decided to break the silence between him and Dean. “He’s not gonna answer,” he said flatly.

“He’s gonna answer,” Dean retorted.

“Dude, we haven’t heard from Cas in like two days. Not to mention, with the state he’s in now… even if he answered you'd be lucky to get anything of substance out of him.”

“Yeah, but it's Cas… He always bounces back.”

“Well, maybe he really is in over his head this time.” Sam stood up to leave. “I’m gonna go check on the other ingredients.”

Dean gives Sam a conflicted look as he leaves before closing his phone and rubbing his hand over his face.

When Cas did finally show up again it was because Dean hadn’t given up. He tried praying to him again asking for help with the Leviathan problem and this time He actually did make his appearance. Lucky for Dean he was outside when this happened because Cas came with the company of an entire swarm of bees.

“Cas?” He said confused as he turned around to face the angel and swat away the Bees trying to sting him. “What the hell is all this? Where were you?”

“I was observing the pollination patterns of honey bees in Europe where they originate from,” Cas explained in his typical monotone voice.

“Europe?”

“Honey Bees are not native to North America as many people think,” He said as if was the most interesting fact in the world. “They were imported from Europe in the 17th century.”

“Ok Buddy,” Dean said dismissively before taking another look at Cas as the bees began dispersing. He turns his head up and pointedly looks at the sky. “Cas… where the hell are your clothes.”

“Cloth obstructs my ability to experience the pollination firsthand.” 

Dean looks down again to see Cas’s skin covered in welts and sighs. “Damnit Cas, you’re covered in bee stings… come inside.” Dean led Cas inside and directed him to put a towel around his waist while he grabbed the first aid kit.

When he returned he pulled out the tweezers and inspected the dozens of red bumps on Cas’s skin. “This might hurt a little.”

“Dean, I can’t feel pain like that.”

“Right… well brace yourself anyway,” Dean said as he started to pull out the stingers one by one. “Your lucky Jimmy wasn’t allergic to bees otherwise you'd be fucked.”

Dean continued to carefully tent to Cas’s wounds making sure to clean off each one with a rag as he went. “It's been a long time since I had to take care of someone like this,” He said softly.

Cas tilted his head to the side. “Are you referring to Sam?”

“Yeah… I am. Before Dad sold the house we used to play in the backyard all the time.” Dean let out a chuckle as he recalls the memories. “Once when he was 4 he hit the tree in our front yard with a wooden sword and it made a bee hive fall to the ground. Poor guy was screaming and crying and I had to take out every stinger just like this.”

Cas listened to his story with intrigue. “Sam is lucky to have you as a brother. I often wonder how brothers are meant to treat each other. Certainly not betraying their trust for the sake of power.”

Cas normally spoke in code these days but Dean could tell he was referring to himself and the other members of the Garrison but he couldn’t help but be reminded of all of the times he and Sam had lied and kept secrets from each other. “You’d be surprised. Come on let's get you in the bathtub so we can stop the swelling.”
