Beautiful Monster

Vampire!Max is instantly hooked when he meets a girl that looks like the vampire that turned him. He searches for her, until he finds himself on her sofa, teeth against her neck.

There was nothing wrong with the house on the hill. It was probably very nice inside, but the rumours that surrounded it, the rumours about the beast inside.

He knew the rumours around him, knew what the children said as they dared each other to ring his doorbell and run away. The curtains were always drawn and the beast rested through the day, emerging at night.

He was so damn beautiful, but he didn't see that (yes, he can see his reflection in the mirror, since his mirror is a modern mirror and not backed with silver). He saw the monster that everybody else should have seen. But everybody else saw an angel.

Well, before they died. That was the only time he emerged from his house; to feed. The pretty girls at the bar happily followed him out to the alleyway, where he sank his sharp teeth into their neck and drained them dry.

She would have followed him out to the alley, would have let him pierce the skin of her neck. But Max couldn't. She looked too much like her.

Like Max's first love. The woman that drew him in and kissed his lips until they were red and swollen. He'd been human back then. His heart had been beating and he was capable of feeling love.

She had bitten his neck and fed him her blood, turning him into the nocturnal beast he was today. A hundred years of solitude, of only emerging when he needed to feed.

At first Max thought it was her. It had to be, there was no other explanation. But he watched this woman carefully. She was alive. A living, breathing being. She wasn't a monster like him.

The first time she approached him, she fluttered her eyelashes and giggled at everything he said. Flirting with him. She wasn't the first woman to do so, but she was the first one to leave him tongue tied.

Normally, Max only danced with her when he had to. He only twirled a girl around the dance floor when he was hungry and she was making him work for it. But when she asked Max to dance, he said yes. He already knew he wouldn't be feeding from her, she looked too much like his first love.

At the end of the night Max was draining another girl in the alleyway before he returned to the house on the hill. But he couldn't get her out of his head.

So much so that he went out again the next night. But she was nowhere to be found. She wasn't at the bar, wasn't anywhere at all. She must have been home, safe from all of the monsters roaming the town, safe from him.

Max went out again the next night, searching for her. She wasn't at that bar, but she was in the park, sitting on a beach with a little dog running around in front of her.

When Max approached, the little dog growled. "Leo!" She scooped the dog up and sat him in her lap.

Max had never been a dog person. Even when he was human, cats preferred him. Things only got worse once he was turned. Dogs growled and barked at him. Cats still tolerated him.

"Is he yours?" Max asked as he slipped into the seat beside her. The way she petted Leo's ears had him quiet in her lap. If it was possible, he would have been glaring at Max.

She shook her head. "He belongs to my friend, but I'm taking care of him while he's out of town."

He released a breath, one he hadn't meant to hold. So what if she owned a dog? She was just some mortal woman who would die in a few hundred years anywhere (when you're living forever, it's easy to forget how long the human lifespan was).

"You were a good dancer," she mused, fingers still absentmindedly petting Leo's head.

"I had a good partner."

What did she taste like, Max found himself wondering. Would her taste be as sweet as her scent? He could feel his fangs appearing as he ran his tongue over his teeth.

He kept them covered as he spoke to her. Well, it wasn't really a conversation. Just the two of them flirting back and forth until she picked him up and took his hand in her own, leading him out of the park.

Max didn't expect to end up on her sofa, with the dog barking away in the kitchen. He kissed her with fervour, his tongue exploring her mouth. In control of the situation, since he couldn't control himself.

She swung herself onto his lap as Max pulled away. It would be so easy to sink his teeth into her neck and drain her dry.

He couldn't stop himself as he started kissing the skin of her neck. She gasped when she felt his pointed teeth against her skin. But she wasn't pulling away, wasn't panicking. Her hips still moved against his, fingers working at the barrier of clothes that separated them.

But then his teeth sank in.

She stilled, breath catching in her throat as Max slowly began to drain her. But then she began to moan.

He knew it was a pleasurable experience for humans, remembered it from when he was still a man. She tasted so damn sweet, body going limp against him. Shit, he had never tasted anything like this.

Breath heaving, he pulled away from her. His tongue flattened against the puncture wounds, licking up what remained. Her hand came to settle on his chest and she looked at him with wide eyes.

"You're a monster," she said between breaths, too exhausted to rock her hips against his. If Max decided to explore what was in her jeans, he would have found an undeniable mess. "A beautiful monster."

She touched his cold cheek and pulled his face towards her own, kissing him.

Leo sun libra moon: talk about EXPENSIVE. But seriously though these people are super boujee. And if your love language isn’t gift giving or words of affirmation you can forget dating these folks. Relationships are usually pretty big for these people and they usually demand a lot of your attention. The types that love being shown off. Could be really good at cosmetics such as makeup, fashion, skin care ect. This placement gives Maddie from Euphoria. They usually don’t have a hard time attracting popularity due to their charming magnetism. I imagine ppl with this placement smell good asffff. I describe these people to be like a wolf in sheep’s clothing. They seem innocent but lowkey be psychotic asf😭 they are kinda hard to get to know on a deep level due to their secretive nature. It’s like u can sense their depth but it’s rare you’ll ever see it in the light. These people hide parts of themselves they believe is too intense for others to handle or they are just embarrassed/ashamed by certain parts of themselves. They can be pretty manipulative if you cross them. Silent treatments are very common with this combo, they could be the types to start drama then hide their hand. Usually big introverts. Taurus sun cancer moon: I’d die to have this combo as my mother. I can imagine these people are AMAZING cooks and just overall good caregivers in general. Gemini sun Sag moon: ik a secret hates to see you coming. This is the ultimate yapper placement. They are usually very loud and cheerful and are always down for a party. I never met someone with this combo who wasn’t a big extrovert. They are a little weird when things get too emotional I notice. Neptune Placements and Subconscious Manifestation

Neptunians have a calling in their souls path that utilizes the subconscious prowells of the underworld and higher realms of reality.

Everything is subconscious before it is materialized, so neptunians have a great understanding of this at birth. The beauty of this is that once they learn how to stay afloat in a reality that tries to force them to be grounded, they will be able to use their brain to conquer the reality they wish to receive in this lifetime.

With that being said, let me explain how everyone with neptune placements can utilize their gifts in order to receive the reality they want for themselves, as well as knowing how to appreciate the things their subconscious mind is able to do and magnetize to them.

I will say that nothing is impossible, because with the mind all can be possible if you just believe. Neptune rules the higher heart, it allows us to see the beyond of something we believe as impossible to be possible. With the use of our pineal glands (neptune/uranus) we can see more of anything in the horizon even if its not able to be seen first hand, with effort and practice.the world can be ours.

Sun/Neptune - When it comes to your subconscious mind, it has much to do with the way you express yourself into the world. If you want a dancer, a lawyer, a scientist, etc. Before it materializes you must act it out BEFORE it can arrive to you. Think of the law of attraction (which neptune rules over) and think about how you'd be if you were these things already. Your brain doesn't know the difference between you having this thing or not, it responds to the nature of doing something and receive information on how to expand the consciousness on that desire. Being your true self helps you get into alignment with the thing that you want.

Pay attention to how you act when you are around others because this is reflective of your imagination, not theirs. With neptunians it is easy for people to take in people’s projections of them and it can mess with your imagination, however, we still have control on we’re our subconscious reality goes.

Moon/Neptune is reflective on your emotional state. For example, you want to feel joy, right? What happens if you never felt joy ever? You would have to force yourself into that roll. It might sound goofy at first but with practice you will realize that energy doesn’t lie, and our emotions are connecting to energy.. good bad and neutral.

The beauty with this placement is how well these individuals can alchemize their emotions and transform it into something that they want in the material/physical reality. So if I want more joy and I never felt it before but I know it’s a form of happiness, Im going to “pretend” to be joyous and when I keep doing this it’ll begin to reflect into my reality therefore REAL joy can come into fruition. It just takes time n effort. And with said effort of mastering the alchemy of my own emotions, I could then create a reality out of this energy (our emotions are = energy) thus moving me into a vibration of more joy where I can attract what I want into the form of whatever it is I desire. I just have to seek out joy.

With this placement though, a lot of times what you want to create doesn’t have a actual look, mostly a vibe. So sometimes you have to reflect on the feeling of it and not just the look. “Follow the energy” would be my final word to you all.

Neptune/ASC has a lot to do with shapeshifting yourself into the reality that you want. It also has a lot to do with being consciously aware of the choices that you are making, and making moves toward the direction of your desire. I’m going to use miss Marilyn Monroe as an example. Monroe, a neptune/asc in leo had a vision that she would be a star. Before we knew her as Marilyn, she was norma jean with brunette hair and a pretty smile. Once she transformed her look, hair, and character it was at this moment she would be the world famous superstar of our time. She talked about how she used her mind and pretended she was already the star she wanted to be and with time it moved her into the direction she wanted for herself. Another example would be you want a house or a car, but it’s not just any car or house it’s a luxury! Your subconscious doesn’t know the difference so you would have to consciously make yourself act as if you have it because the external reality responds to the vibration of your internal self (conscious and unconscious) first, external after.

Neptune/Mercury the power is in the voice! One of the few placements that can will what they want for themselves with the power of the tongue. The truth of the matter is that you must pretend and then focus on the energy that is being presented when willing it into your reality. These are the type of people who can be prophets in their life and utilize this ability with any talents in writing/singing/rapping/visuals etc. The use of the hands here is a gift as well. Scripting and creating stories of their own life before it happens is something they could be pretty good at if they listen to their intuition. The original law of attraction placement. It focuses on bring our dreams into material reality. With you guys, meditating on what you want and then creating a blueprint for it is the best way to see thru an idea and allowing the universe to present it to you the way it sees fit. We may not know all the answers but thats the point, we're not suppose to know everything we're just suppose to do it.

Now with you guys focusing on the task and putting all your energy on that goal is how saturn will push you forward to that thing you want to manifest. PJO Idol AU Info:

- Percy Jackson 🐬/🦈 - Leader, main rapper, oldest. Oldest member and has been a trainee under their company for the longest. He was recruited when he was only twelve years old. He picked out all the members of the group himself. He and his members have gone through a lot so he feels very protective of them. He’s often referred to as the dad of the group. He’s also very loyal, loving, sassy, and funny. He’s the member most likely to stop a fan’s delusions with his sass. He’s one of the two hybrids in group. He’s a sea creature hybrid. His parents are from the planet Tartarus but he was born in and grew up on the planet Olympus. His representative emoji/animal is a dolphin, but he keeps asking for it to be a shark since dolphins are assholes.

- Leo Valdez 🐦‍🔥 - Main dancer, face of the group. Unlike Percy, he was born and raised on the planet Tartarus. He only moved to Olympus when he caught the attention of a recruiter. His mom wanted him to have a good future, so she sent him off when he was only fifteen. Despite being trainee and idol for several years and being fluent in the language, he likes to pull the foreigner card during games. Due to his flirty nature, natural humor, and bright plumage, he quickly became the most popular member and face of the group. He’s often invited on variety shows. Despite his popularity, he’s struggled for years with insecurity and is very open about it with the fans. In general, he’s very open with fans. He used to act in the past but stopped after becoming a trainee. Recently, he got back into acting. He’s the second hybrid in the group. He’s a bird hybrid but prefers being called an avian. His representative emoji/animal is a phoenix due to his bright red feathers and firey personality.

- Will Solace ☀️/🕊️ - Main vocal, producer, visual. Nearly all of Cabin 4’s songs are written and produced by Will. He’s not only an incredible vocalist but amazing producer. His members often praise him for his talents. He’s the visual of the group and is often referred to as the sun by his fans. His members picked up on it and often call him ‘sunshine’ as a nickname. Will is a very caring member and takes the health of his members very seriously. However, he often neglects his own health. Back when they first debuted, Will knew how risky their concept of a hybrid and human group was. So, he worked tirelessly on their songs so they would be perfect. He felt that if he didn’t make a perfect song then they would fail and he would be responsible for their failure. Even after they became the legends they are today, he’s still a hard worker. It’s no secret that Nico is one of the only ones who can get him to stop working and take a break. He’s one of the two human members. His representative emoji is the sun and his representative animal is a dove due to his vocals and fondness for love songs.

- Nico di Angelo 🦇 - All rounder, youngest. The youngest member and last to join the company. Despite his late start, he’s not lacking in any department. In fact, he’s referred to as a jack of all trades or all rounder in the group. He can do everything and he can do it well. Due to his natural talent, many different companies wanted him. However, he joined Juno Ent after hearing rumors that they had a snow cone machine that trainees and idols could use (which turned out to be true). His members find the story hilarious and will tease him about it whenever they can. In fact, they even bought him his own snow cone machine for his birthday. Despite the teasing, he does often use it. Despite being the youngest, he doesn’t often act like he’s. He’s very independent and reserved. Despite this, he’s very friendly (he knows nearly everyone in the entertainment industry) and his young side does show when he gets to talking about his favorite card game. Though he may seem cold at first, fans and friends know he’s a caring guy. After all, he joined the company to help support his sisters. However, he can also be snarky, especially to Leo. His representative emoji/animal is the bat due to his nocturnal nature, love for fruit, and terrible eyesight. Some fans say his representative emoji should be a moon while others say it should be a star, both wanting his to match with Will’s. Nobody can come to an agreement, so it stays as a bat.

Group Name: Cabin 4

- Cabin 4 are a group composed of two hybrids and two humans. They were the first group to have both hybrid and human members. Due to camp being a place where you can bond with others who are different from you, that’s why they’re called Cabin 4. The cabin is to represent camp while the 4 represents how many members they have. They want fans to feel loved no matter what their background is. The group is all about having fun and embracing people despite their differences. They tend to write a lot fun, upbeat, “summery” songs.

Fandom Name: Campers

Fandom Main Ships: The two popular fandom ships are between the two hybrids and two humans. Due to this, they often get into online arguments with other fandoms who view this as “problematic”. No, they don’t find the shipping problematic, they think that the fandom only shipping within species is problematic.

- Percy/Leo: Known as the parents or the mom and dad of the group. After many fans started shipping Will and Nico due to their natural bond, the only duo left was Percy and Leo. Due to them being the oldest and their habit to occasionally dote on the others, they became known as the mom and dad of the group. After hearing about this, Percy and Leo found it hilarious and would jokingly flirt with each other all the time. Despite the shipping, the two are only close friends

- Will/Nico: Fans were able to instantly pick up on the bond these two have. They became close friends during their trainee days (due to being the same age) and have been close ever since. The two seem to share an unbreakable bond. They are able to share secrets and confide in each other in ways they can’t with others. They are very open about this and their friendship. Due to this, they’re shipped by the fans. They’re the most popular ship in the fandom. This does cause some issues because the two do secretly have feelings for each other. Despite their feelings, they never confess since they don’t want to mess things up for the group. Still, their feelings continue to grow and the fandom ship isn’t helping things.

Company: Juno Entertainment

- Juno Entertainment is all about bringing inclusivity to the world of entertainment. They’re one of the few companies who accept both human and hybrid trainees and employees. Despite being located on Olympus, they have many recruiters searching for talent on Tartarus. Despite their current success, they hard a rough start. Before Cabin 4, none of their groups gained big or commercial success. They debuted Cabin 4, thinking that would be their last group. To their big surprise, the group ended up being a success and they ended up saving their company. Now, they’re one of the biggest entertainment companies. Juno Entertainment is generally regarded amongst the public and idols as one of the ‘better companies’. They don’t have a dating ban, they protect their idols, they make sure to promote their idols, and they even sometimes listen to fans. Despite this, they are still an entertainment company and some of the jokes of the idols in Cabin 4 show that they have harsh training, perhaps even harsher than most companies.

Frank: Manager

- Frank is their (forever suffering) manager. He’s been a manager of groups in the past but met his match when it came to Cabin 4. Somehow, the group manage to get into crazy situations, even when they’re trying to be on their best behavior. He does love the members but he’s also very tired of them (especially Leo). Despite the struggle, he’s great at his job.

- Friends: Cabin 4, Hazel, Reyna

Reyna: Bodyguard

- Reyna is great at her job. She’s good at defending the boys. The fans tend to be kind and considerate and she rarely has to use force. Despite how easy her job is, she does have her struggles. Her struggles mainly involve one Leo Valdez trying to convince her to do dance challenges. Despite the fact that she gives zero effort and energy, Leo and the fans absolutely love the videos. Also, she wishes the other members would stop randomly wandering off. It makes her job a lot harder.

Friends: Cabin 4, Frank, Hazel, Jason, Thalia

Hazel: Stylist

- Hazel is a stylist for many Juno Ent. groups, but often works together with Cabin 4. She’s very kind and gets along well with all the members. Also, she’s Nico’s half-sister and likes to catch up with him whenever they see each other. She’s usually the one who hears about all the gossip the group has to share with her (even if she doesn’t want to hear it).

- Friends: Cabin 4, Bianca, Frank, Reyna

Annabeth: Architect.

- Annabeth is an architect that has been trying her best to succeed in her career. Ever since she was a little girl, it’s been her dream job. She’s worked hard to get where she is as a woman in the field. Recently, she’s gotten a job that she sees as her big break. She was hired by Juno Ent to redesign and upgrade their building. It has been stressful trying to work on all of her client wants along with what she thinks would work best, but she’s been enjoying every second of it. Though, she noticed very quickly on that the idols who work at the company are very… strange. She ran into a few and the ones in the group Cabin 4 are strange, especially the leader. He’s strange… but also nice and funny. He’s even been kind enough to take her out to dinner after she’s done working and keep her company when she’s working late. He asks her about her job and tries his best to pay attention when she rambles about architecture and old buildings and structures she likes. It’s clear he doesn’t always understand but he tries his best and even attempts to ask her questions. Once, she saw her sneakily text a friend a question. She was guessing it Leo. They only talked a handful of times but she always seemed happy to talk to her about architecture. Unlike Percy, he seemed to know a thing or two about it. Percy was nice and cute but she was determined to do her job and then go on with her life. Even if he seemed like the perfect guy, he was an idol and she was a normal girl. She knew nothing would come from a relationship with him. Even so, she couldn’t stop daydreaming about those sea green eyes.

- Friends: Thalia, Grover, Luke

Grover: Former trainee.

- Grover is a former trainee under Juno Ent and Percy’s best friend. During the beginning of his life as a trainee, Percy was anxious due to how young he was and wondering how being a trainee would go. He met Grover on the first day and they’ve been inseparable ever since. Percy didn’t believe in soulmates until he met Grover. If soulmates did exist, then Grover was his platonic soulmate. He would do anything for him and he knew his friend would do anything for him in return. Grover was one of the only things that kept him from quitting when things got too hard. Even though Grover left a year before Percy debuted (he realized the idol life wouldn’t be good for his anxiety after seeing how it affected his girlfriend Juniper), they still remained best friends. Currently, Grover is studying in college hoping to help with nature conservation.

- Friends: Percy, Juniper, Annabeth, Thalia, Luke

Piper: Actress

- Actress under HB Ent. and Leo’s old childhood friends. In the past, her father accepted a role that brought them to Tartarus. While there, she met Leo and they became best friends. However, after her father’s project was done, she moved away and they didn’t see each other for years. She became an actress, following in her father’s footsteps. She immediately became popular due to her father but has done her best to distance herself from him, wanting to be popular for being Piper McLean, not for being the daughter of Tristan McLean. Recently, she landed a role as the main character in the TV series. When they were meeting the cast, she found out the person who would be playing the best friend of her character was none other than Leo Valdez, her old best friend. Immediately, the two were happy to see each other and picked up right where they started. Their natural chemistry helped them with their roles in the show. The two of them became so close so fast that the media tend to think they’re dating. They aren’t, but they occasionally like to fuel the flames of their dating rumors for fun. The show they’re on makes decisions for future seasons based on what the fans want. The show is 100% for the fans. After the season aired with Piper’s character’s complex love dodecahedron, she began to question who she was and her sexuality. When she nervously told Leo that she thought she liked women, he smiled and pulled her into a tight hug. He told her he loved her and that she wasn’t alone in being ‘confused but not straight’. The two have been inseparable ever since.

- Actor under New Rome Ent. His father is a very influential man and he’s been doing his best to separate himself from him. He’s had many different careers in the entertainment industry, but he’s been an actor for the longest and he thinks it’ll be what he does. He’s become very popular and is known as the ‘sweetheart of Olympus’. Recently, he’s been a supporting character on the show Piper is starring in. He’s been in the show since S1. His character used to be in a romance with Piper’s but that storyline was dropped after fans said their characters had no chemistry. However, after the newest season and the fans got to talking about a few interactions between his and Leo’s characters, the show decided to make their characters have a deeper bond in the next season, to make them a ‘will they won’t they’ couple. Jason has been internally freaking out about it. He’s a huge fan of Cabin 4 and Leo is his favorite member. He doesn’t know how to act causally around his celebrity crush. Leo is completely clueless and Piper is trying to get them together.

Thalia: Soloist.

- Currently a soloist and a former member of a group called The Hunters. Thalia began her idol career in a girl group called The Hunters. The group was very successful and she was one of the most popular members. However, their company had a dating ban. Despite the ban, she thought she could get away with staying with her boyfriend she met during her trainee days. They were able to stay secret for a few years. However, they ended up getting careless and soon they were caught. She ended up getting removed from the group and later left the company and joined a new one. Now, she’s a soloist and does very well for herself. She kept a lot of fans old fans and later gained many new ones. She and her boyfriend (Luke) are still dating and she’s still good friends with a lot of her former members.

Rachel: Model.

- A model under Juno Ent. She’s currently low contact with her father. He wanted her to go into business but she wanted to do something creative. Her career choices were always something they argued over. Eventually, she went low contact with him. Currently, she’s a model but she also draws and paints a lot, posting a lot of her creations. She loves art but never wanted to make a career out of it. It helps her a lot and she doesn’t want it to suddenly be job that’s about money. She doesn’t want to put value on her pieces that mean so much to her. So, she went into modeling instead. It was a way to express herself and her love for art in another way. She had a crush on Percy when she first joined the company but it eventually faded away and they remain good friends.

Oh my god thank you so much! This is so sweet. I'm surprised my first ever post is doing as well as it is. I expected to pass as pretty unnoticed in the beginning. I do have a lot of headcanons for the characters, but I'm going to do Leo in this one since he's my absolute favourite

Note: I haven't read the HOO books in a while, but I just finished my reread of PJO, so if any 'headcanon' is actually canon, please just pretend that I'm Uncle Rick himself.

Leo Valdez Headcanons - loves sweet&spicy. If that's an option in the menu at the restaurant he went to, he will absolutely get it. He's kind of obsessed with it to the point where one might get worried about his taste buds

- if he had to choose between sweet and sour, he would absolutely pick sweet any day. That's not really the best considering he's very ADHD, even for a demigod and his intake of sugar doesn't really help much, but he just loves sweet. He doesn't care if it's chocolate-type sweet or sugar-sweet, he just likes it. You can bet that when he comes out of Bunker 9 after a long day, his tongue would be all types of colours because his 'meal' for the day was whatever candy was in his stash of sweets

- now if you made the choice between sweet, sour and spicy, he would struggle to pick

- he hates coffee. he's simply not a coffee guy. he thinks it tastes nasty, since we established he loves anything sweet and coffee is definitely not sweet. and he doesn't need it anyway, he's hyper as is. if anything, coffee makes him more tired

- i feel like he would get pretty into anime if he tried watching it. from the trending shonen, chainsaw man would be his fave, but in general he would be such a fan of one piece imo. he is that person who has unironically watched the whole thing like three times - he feels guilty when he isn't doing something productive since he feels this need to constantly be creating something, but he also loves to just get distracted by something and do his own thing for hours, even if there's no 'productive' outcome. so he 'wastes' his time and feels guilty the entire time, but the enjoyment he gets out of it evens out the guilt (what do you mean i'm not projecting on my favourite character... at all...)

- secretly a good singer. piper once caught him singing in the shower and then dragged him out and forced him to sing out loud because she was not expecting such an angelic voice to come out of him

- his go to karaoke song is 'cake by the ocean' by dnce

- i feel like he would learn how to play the guitar and he will be shockingly good at it. like he learns a song so fast and because his fingers are always doing something and tinkering with things, this is the perfect way for him to get his energy out while also having lots of fun

- i also feel like he would purposefully not tell anyone he learned the guitar and one day he just whips out this new talent of his and everyone's like '????'

- honestly, leo is just good at everything. if he wasn't a hephaestus kid, he would be a son of hermes, because he is such a jack of all trades. he is incredibly intelligent (which is canon, btw, and if it's not yes it fucking is have you seen the guy, he is borderline as smart as Annabeth, if not smarter, just in another flavour), but also anything he attempts to do, he succeeds in. he can draw, he can play the guitar, he can sing, he absolutely is a great dancer. you would expect he sucks at cooking but nope, there he goes, making a gourmet meal like it's nothing. he isn't much of a fighter, but if he needs to hold his ground, he can. he's just so versatile, you can barely catch him off guard with something he can't master in a few hours

The Swan and the Crow

Part 1

Donnie was feeling pretty good about himself. The last few days had been good days. He found his theory board, listened to the messages on his bracelet and every day he had managed to recognise his brothers. He even remembered bits and pieces from the the last three days for sure, maybe from a little further back.

The only real downside was that Leo hadn’t visited in that time. Donnie knew that for certain because on the first day he could remember things, Raph had asked if Leo had been over to visit yet. Mikey had asked the second day and April had asked on the third day. Something was wrong with Leo and Donnie hadn’t found the courage to ask what.

“Evening, Donnie!” Raph was cheerful as always when he came through the doorway. Something was wrong, though. He was tense and his smile was forced. “How are you?”

“Hi Raph.” Donnie wandered one to the water’s edge. He wasn’t even in the mood for dancing with how worried Raph seemed to be. “What’s wrong? You seem upset.”

Raph’s smile wobbled, then he sighed and rubbed his head. “Raph is not okay,” he admitted. “Has Leo been around to see you? You remember who he is, right?”

“My twin,” Donnie nodded. Well, now was as good a time as any. “I can remember most of the last few days, actually. Things are… clearer. And you guys have all been asking about Leo. What’s happened?”

Raph’s face lit up with hope, then it dropped and he sighed, rubbing his face. “Leo’s been missing for the last few days. No one’s seen him and his tracker is offline.” Donnie froze. Leo was missing? And they couldn’t use the internal trackers to find him? “We had hoped he was with you, or that he’d come to see you.”

“How long has he been gone?” Donnie asked after a moment. This couldn’t be happening. Donnie needed to help find his brother as quickly as possible, but he couldn’t leave his Lake for longer than a few hours and he still wasn’t totally familiar with the set up of his tech. God, he was going to be so useless here!

“Three days.” Exactly when Donnie’s memories started sticking around better. Oh no.

“Hey Raph. Hey Donnie.” Mikey appeared nearby, peering around Raph with a worried expression. “I’m guessing Raph told you about Leo?” Donnie nodded and Mikey sighed. “Barry and I can’t even find him with magic. It’s like he’s just… gone.”

A gentle fog rolled over the Lake, pale and beautiful in the moonlight. But the moon, which had so often felt like a spotlight to Donnie’s dances and performances, seemed to be focused elsewhere. Music seemed to start from nowhere, a soft melody that compelled Donnie back to the center of the lake. Something was coming.

“Donnie? Donnie, what’s wrong?” Mikey asked, rushing to the edge of the lake. Donnie felt the music swirl around his youngest brother. It didn’t touch him, though, he couldn’t hear it. That didn’t mean Donnie was the only person who could hear the music.

“There’s another dancer.” Even if Donnie’s voice was soft, he knew it carried.

“Another dancer? Who? I thought you were the Lake Guardian!” Raph cried. Donnie could feel his biggest brother on the water’s edge. Normally that would annoy him, no one was allowed in the lake without his permission, but with the fog rolling across the water’s surface Donnie couldn’t find it in himself to care.

“They’re not from the Lake. They’re from the Forest.” The Forest was dangerous, full of evil magic that wanted the power Donnie was there to protect. One of the forces must have found a willing victim. “They’re the reason I’m the Guardian. I need to protect my Lake from them.”

“Othello!” A powerful voice called from the fog. No. No he couldn’t have— there was no way— “You have something that my father wants.” Leo walked out from the fog, en pointe and in a black tutu made of black feathers. His was more revealing than Donnie’s, with an open bodice and highlights of red littered throughout. Leo’s skin was darker and his stripes now ended with small spirals where before they were sharp. “I’m here to get it from you so we can bring you home once and for all.” Leo’s voice was off. He didn’t sound like himself. And his expression was cold and distant, haughty almost. There was no familiar, comforting blue mask on his face, only a single black feather pinned the the back of his head.

Leo had allied himself with the Crow. And that meant that Donnie had no choice. He had to fight his brother.
