There was a drip in the corner of the boiler room. It was a slow and steady thing, quiet and loud all at once. It seemed to echo as if the room was bigger than it was, as if it was a vast cellar with endless space rather than a cramped, concrete room that barely held a mattress and a table. Felix could use the drips to tell time, if they tried hard enough. Once every three seconds, another drop fell. It was like clockwork. 

Drip. One. Two. Three. Drip. One. Two. Three. Drip. One. Two —

The doorknob rustled and turned. Felix wasn’t expecting anyone, but they didn’t start as the door was shoved open, anyway. No one really knocked before entering the boiler room unless it was someone they’d invited, and they hadn’t invited anyone in a week now. They kept their gaze trained on the floor as footsteps entered and the door closed again. They didn’t need to look up to know who it was; Leo’s footfalls were as familiar as their father’s, as a hunter in the woods, as everyone who had ever hurt them. After a while, you could pick them out of even the largest crowd.

They were stiff where they sat, still listening to that steady, makeshift clock in the corner. Drip. One. Two. Three. Drip. One. Two. Three. The footsteps crossed the room. Legs replaced the spot on the floor they’d let their unfocused eyes point towards. They thought they smelled smoke, but they knew they didn’t. The scent had been clinging to their nostrils since the barn. They didn’t think they’d ever get rid of it entirely.

“What the fuck is wrong with you?” Leo’s voice was harsh. There was a time, years ago, when Felix would have let themself pretend there was a hint of concern to the low tones. They thought they knew better now, and part of them almost wished they didn’t. Part of them wanted to believe, still, that he’d loved them once, that a part of him might even love them now. It was a silly thing to want; a child’s stupid wish made over birthday candles and shooting stars. None of it meant anything.

“I didn’t do anything,” their voice was quiet, hoarse. The words were a lie. They’d done awful, terrible things; there was blood on their skin. They swore they could feel it still, even after scrubbing their arms raw in the showers for three nights in a row after the farm party. 

A foot kicked at theirs, the jab too sharp to be playful. “Fucking look at me, at least. Jesus. What, did you step on a butterfly? Swat a spider? You look like a kicked puppy. It’s fucking pathetic. Look at me when I’m talking to you, idiot.” 

They blinked, the world blurring momentarily. “I don’t want to do this right now. Please, can you just — I don’t want to do this.”

“I didnt ask what you wanted.”

(No one ever did, did they?)

Felix swallowed, forcing their chin to tilt upwards. Their head felt as if it was filled with cement, as if it weighed a thousand pounds. They didn’t feel strong enough to lift it. In a way, they wished they hadn’t. Leo looked angry, rage burning behind his eyes. Felix flinched, taking a shuddering breath. 

They thought of Wyatt, of how he would tell Leo to go fuck himself and probably throw a punch. He thought of Anita, and how she’d probably swallow Leo whole. Neither of them would have found themselves in this situation to begin with, he thought; in a boiler room with a terrible man they used to love standing over them, wondering why a part of them wished the love had been real. 

“Your fight last night was sloppy,” Leo announced, because of course that was what this was about. He wasn’t worried about the fact that Felix had barely left the boiler room in a week now, wasn’t concerned about the way they’d done little more than stare at the wall. He was worried about his money.

“I won,” Felix replied, mouth dry. 

“You barely shifted. I thought we had an agreement. When you moved in here, I told you how things were going to be. It’s not as fun when you look human. People want a show.” 

“I don’t want to shift. My — my control’s been bad. I could kill someone.”

“People would pay more if you did. We’ve got enough tranqs to knock you out. You’re not exactly smart enough to go after the right people when you’re like that. Last time, you spent fifteen minutes chasing your fucking tail.” He laughed, sharp as a blade. It cut Felix to their core.

“I can fight without shifting. Okay? It’s — I can make it, can make it entertaining. I can get people to pay more, I can —”

“You can do what I fucking tell you to do.” Leo interrupted him, and Felix’s mouth snapped shut reflexively. “Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with you? You’re not usually this much of a pussy.”

“I… My friends died.” Their tongue felt heavy, like a thing they no longer had control over. They didn’t want to tell Leo any of this, but it was difficult not to. The habit of answering whatever questions Leo asked was a hard one to break, even years after the end of their relationship. “There was a party, and — and people came, and there was a fire, and my friends died.” 

It was quiet, for a moment. And, for a moment, Felix let themself pretend that there was some sympathy in the silence, that Leo was going to put an arm around them in a way that didn’t ache and tell them it was okay.

Instead, he laughed.

The laughter echoed just as the dripping had, though not in time with the invented clock. It was disjointed, off. Felix flinched away from the sound. It was a harsh, cruel laughter, but a genuine one, too; the kind that meant Leo really did find the situation funny. Somehow, that made it hurt worse.

“Awww, Fe. Did you kill them? Is that why you’re not shifting? You went all pussycat and tore some throats out?” Their blood was pumping in their ears, so loud that they almost couldn’t hear Leo’s goading. Almost. It didn’t drown it out completely; the world was rarely that kind. “God, I did the world a favor by locking you up in here, didn’t I? Should really make it full time, but then I’d have to deal with you more often.”

“Stop,” they said quietly. “Please, Leo, can you just —” A hand shot out, gripping their shoulder tightly enough to bruise. 

“Shut the fuck up.” The humor was gone from his voice now, replaced by something cold and familiar. “I don’t give a shit that you ate a couple of hicks in a corn maze. I give a shit that you’re not doing what I told you to do. So, here’s the deal, babe: you can go out there and you can do your fucking job, or I can fit you with a shock collar and see how many zaps it takes for the cat to come out and play. Something tells me he’ll do a lot more damage in that ring if he’s pissed off. Maybe we can stick you up against Lockjaw for that, hm? See which one of you animals swallows the other one first.” 

There was a quiet whimper from the corner. It took a moment for Felix to realize it hadn’t come from them; it took Leo a moment to realize it, too. But Squonkella’s sobs sounded different than Felix’s hitched breaths, and the handler turned towards them with a surprised twist to his lips. “What the fuck is that?” 

“Don’t,” Felix begged quietly. “She — It’s nothing. It’s just — someone dropped it off here and I — it isn’t hurting anyone.”

Leo’s hand dropped from their shoulder; they almost wished it would return. Anything to keep his attention away from the squonk. “That’s the ugliest fucking thing I’ve ever seen. Jesus.” He turned back to Felix, a disgusted grimace etched across his face. “Option number three, then: you keep being a little bitch, and I see how long that lasts in the ring. Probably won’t make it more than a second, but —” 

“Stop. Please, I — I’m sorry, okay? I’m sorry. I’ll shift. You don’t have to — You don’t have to do any of that. You don’t have to put her in the ring, or put me up against Wy — Lockjaw, or – or do the collar. I’ll shift. Okay? I’ll shift. I’m sorry.”

Leo seemed pleased, nodding his head. “Yeah,” he said. “You fucking better.” He kicked out again, jabbing his foot against Felix’s calf harshly. “If you don’t, I’ll make you fucking regret it. Don’t think I won’t.”

“I know,” they said, squeezing their eyes shut. “I know.”

“You’re lucky I’ve got a soft spot for you, babe. Anybody else talked to me the way you did, I’d leave their guts on the fucking floor.” 

No you wouldn’t, they might have said if they were braver. You never do any of the dirty work yourself. You don’t even own a knife. You only ever hit people you know won’t hit you back. But they were a coward, and so they said none of that. Instead, they nodded. They swallowed around the tightness in their throat, and they pretended they were someone else.

Leo lingered, staring at them for a moment. Felix fixed their gaze back on the floor, listened to the leak in the corner. Drip. One. Two. Three. Drip. One. Two. Three. Drip. One. Tw– 

“Don’t you think you owe me something, Fe? For being so forgiving.” 

The world seemed to shrink around them. They knew what he wanted. They knew he wouldn’t leave until he got it. It was always like this. It was easier, most of the time, not to fight it. So they nodded. They opened their mouth, they let the words slip out and dissipate into the air between them in a whisper. “Thank you.” 

There was a pleased hum. They didn’t need to open their eyes to know he was smiling. “You’re welcome. I’m going to hold on to that one. You’ve got a fight in ten. Try to make it decent this time.”

The footsteps left, the door closed. Felix was left alone in the boiler room, the steady drip keeping them company. They counted the drips until they knew they couldn’t wait any longer to make their way to the ring, and they stood. 

They still had a job to do. And no one had ever really cared whether or not they wanted to do it.

goodbye smiles

Nice Leo gives Leo a smile.

It was the sad kind of smile. A goodbye smile. 

He sort of hates it.

Huh, Leo's never had a goodbye smile before. It's doing stuff to his chest and eyes even though it's just a smile.

Is this stuff supposed to be so intense? Leo's four year old brain did not know. 

The turtle huffs at the alternate version of himself, "Why are you smiling like I'm gonna be gone forever? I am literally still going to be here to cheer you on!"

Nice Leo was thinking about this way too much that their brain was leaking these thoughts into Leo's brain. That inconsiderate meanie. 

She was nice to have around. They were around his age afterall. And definetly shared alot of similarites with himself afterall. 

Same dad stuff and all. 

His counterpart took his hand and nuzzled her head into his shoulder. 

"Are you scared?"

Leo swears he was not trying to sounds judgemental! But it just sorta… same out that way.

His counterpart was now squeezing the daylights out of his hand, which made Leo think he was getting squished by a estatua gigante.

His Papa gives Leo a concerned look. The other version of his Papa is now eyeing the situation carefully. Both seem rest to pounce in at any moment.

Bonedads. Always so protective. 

Leo throws them a carefree 'dont-worry-bout-it' smile and focus's on Nice Leo. 

(And their unnatural death grip on him)

"Hey. Look at me?" Alternate him furrows their glassy eyes but stil looks at him, "The people that beat me? No offence, but I think they are alot less cool than you. Okay? You are going to do great next round."

Nice Leo stared at Leo.

Leo puts a hand on the other shoulder and humms, "You know what? I want you to say it. Out loud."

Nice Leo stutters, "S-say what?"

"Say you're going to do great!"

"You're going to do great?…"

"No silly." Leo points to the other's plastron, "You are going to do great."

"I am going to do great?"

"LOUDER! I CANNOT HEAR YOU OVER ALL THE NOISE!"

"BUT YOU ARE THE ONE THAT IS MAKING THE NOISE!?"

"LA LA LA! I AM NOT HEARING A PERSON WHO IS ALL BUENO AND GOING TO WIN!"

"IS THAT EVEN-"

Leo hushes his other self by putting a finger over the other's mouth, "Callate, I am trying to ignite a spark in you. NOW SAY IT!!

Was Leo 100% aware that the other competitors were looking at them?

"I AM GOING TO DO GREAT!!"

"¡Si! Now was that so hard?…"

Nice Leo tries to hide in his hands, "I think that spark you were trying to ignite in me is now turning into flames under my cheeks."

"You don't get an oppurtunity like this everyday! Avenging people and all that jazz. You are going against the people who just beat me. Carpe diem that stuff!" Leo hugs his friend and says in a softer voice "Ganar para mi. Ok?"

Nice Leo started tearing up again and Leo felt himself actually letting his tears out too. 

Darn it. Goodbyes smiles feel worse with tears.

"You know I am proud of you too Lunita?" His Pops asked softly, handing him an warm empanada that seemingly came out of nowhere. 

Leo smiled, a little bit too smug for someone who just technically lost, "Yeah. I know."

Leo takes a bite of goodness on the bleachers.

Tío Piel sneers, "Ok but not that proud you little goblin."

Leo snorts as his Tio and Pops banter on the ethics of the next round if it was just a big  massive sword fight and argue if that would even be allowed. 

Leo forgets what this competition was about. 

And Leo will definetly forget he has brothers.

summary: when your boyfriend asked about what you were drinking, you didn't think about the extents he would go to learn how to make it himself.

warnings: lionel messi appearance (kind of?) and mentioned, griezmann too. this is all fictional clearly bc i don't know if it ever happened but IT DID IN MY MIND. mentions of marriage and jokes about it. if i missed anything lmk:)

author's note: mate is a traditional drink from south america essentially. don't know if i need to explain further???? anyways. this is purely self indulgent, i'm not even trying to hide it. kinda bad bc i didn't proofread it enough with my classes starting again 😭 also, why did i write this in english if it was requested in spanish???? can't seem to write in my own tongue lol that's embarrassing

"¿qué estás tomando?" (what are you drinking?) pedro's voice startled you, almost making you drop the container you had in hand. it's one of the first times that he has spent the night at your place, so you kind of forgot you had visitors in your apartment. you turn around so you can see him easier, and see his frame leaning on the stairs, face contorted in confusion at seeing you, seemingly, drink something with a metal straw. "esto, decís?" (this, you say?) you ask, elevating your arm so he can see it better, even from a distance, wood container in clear sight now.

"sí, eso" (yeah, that) he says, getting near the sofa where you're at. he's towering over you now while standing behind the piece of furniture. he's close enough to you that he can plant a kiss on the top of your head, and he does so, lovingly greeting you good morning. "mate, amor, te lo mencioné antes, ¿te acordás?" (mate, love, i told you before, you remember?).

something seems to have clicked on his head, because he nods vigorously before saying "sí, leo tomaba mate durante los entrenamientos" (yeah, leo drank mate during trainings). you smile knowingly at the mention of your national team's captain and biggest honour as a fellow argentinian. it still amazed you that your boyfriend had shared his time at barcelona with messi, and you loved to hear small bits and pieces pedri held close to his heart.

"¿tomaste con él?" (did you drink with him?) you questioned, pouring a small amount of water into the container before offering it to him. pedri took it doubtful before actually nearing the straw to his lips, and drinking the beverage. he hummed in approval at the temperature, not too hot to burn your tongue but not too cold either. "sí, con griezmann también," (yeah, with griezmann too) he reminded, the softest smile painting his features while he gave you back the mate.

"¿y ninguno te enseñó cómo hacerlo?" (and no one taught you how to make it?) you said through furrowed brows, while pedri tilted his head in confusion, waiting for you to explain further. the rest of the joke fell from your lips effortlessly, still maintaining the serious facade to make it seem it was a real concern of yours. "¿cómo esperaban que impresiones al amor de tu vida?" (how did they expect you to impress the love of your life?)

pedri laughed, his head thrown back over the back of the sofa where he had just gotten seated at. "no lo necesité para convencerte de estar conmigo, ¿no?" (i didn't need it to convince you to be with me, didn't i?), he said cheekily, his hand greeting your naked flesh where your pijama pants didn't quite cover. you were trying really hard to stop the red blush to cover your cheeks, which would have made your warning to be futile.

"no me voy a casar con alguien que no me haga mates para desayunar" (i won't marry someone who doesn't make me mates for breakfast).

his brows furrowed at hearing that, knowing well that you were talking about it because he had brought the topic before. even if you two were together for a short time, pedri had told you that he was serious about this, about you, and that he'd do whatever to keep you close to him. that's why you, jokingly, said it in the first place.

the next morning, when you woke up, you heard voices coming from the kitchen. you were at pedri's now, and while it seemed weird that he would have invited someone else in while he was with you -gavi was okay, but by the distorted voices heard, it certainly wasn't gavi-, you couldn't really oppose to anything he did at his place.

you were leaning against the doorframe now, seeing your boyfriend doing god know what by the countertop, his hands not quite visible due to his wider frame. "el agua no tiene que estar hirviendo" (the water doesn't have to be boiling) the voice warned. it sounded familiar, but you couldn't quite place where you had heard it from. pedro quickly went to turn off the electric kettle, and in the brief moment when he went away, you saw the littlest glimpse of the scene in front of him: his phone leaning against the wall to keep it upright, and what seemed to be a new mate equipment.

once he had safely stored the hot water on the thermo, you said "¿qué estás haciendo?" (what are you doing?), holding him from the back, slipping your hands over his waist to draw him closer. he hummed when he felt your warmth embrace him, before jokingly saying "llegó la bella durmiente" (sleeping beauty's here) to the person he was on facetime with.

"¿a quién tenés ahí?" (who do you have there?) you whispered softly, pinching his hand that had wrapped around yours to gain his attention. he moved a bit to the side, causing you to drop him off your hold. both of you were in front of the phone now, with you visible on the screen by his side. "leo. me estaba enseñando a hacer mates para ti" (leo. he was teaching me how to make mates for you) he pointed at the screen, showing clearly a man smiling contently. you looked at your boyfriend with wide eyes, not believing he had gotten as far as to call fucking messi to make you eat your words from the day before.

after waving at you, he started, "que bien que te encontró a vos, no me llamaba hace meses" (it's good that he found you, hadn't called me in months), the argentinian man spoke, and pedro started to stutter apologies before both you and the man behind the screen began to laugh at him.

after a few minutes, the facetime ended with promises to meet next time he and his family came back to barcelona. pedro was smiling widely at you, pinching slightly your cheeks that were surely bright red due to the interaction you had just shared with the man itself. "no puedo creer que hayas llamado a lionel messi para que te enseñe a hacer mate en vez de preguntarme a mi" (i can't believe you called lionel messi to teach you to make mates instead of asking me).

"tenía que asegurarme de hacerlo bien antes de pedirte que te cases conmigo, ¿no?" (i had to make sure to do it right before asking you to marry me, right?)

"eventualmente" (eventually) you reminded, pointer finger lifted up warningly. you weren't against marrying young, but you were against marrying someone you had practically just met, no matter who he was. "me pondría de rodillas ya mismo" (i'd get on my knees right now) pedro joked, slipping out of your arms to get on his knee. rolling your eyes at his antics you quickly rushed to lift him up, to which he laughed, finding your angry face -which was clearly fake- amusing.

"tranquilo. todavía no probé si tu mate es aceptable o no." (easy there. i still didn't taste if your mate is acceptable or not).

experience: don't tell on me but I somehow stumbled upon tumblr when I was 12 or 13 and found some cool Monster High roleplay blogs and just made a tumblr account?? lol it was very random. I eventually got into roleplaying canon characters, then eventually other ocs from different fandoms. Somehow all that randomness led me here, even with all my on and off years.

preferred roleplay type: para and novella. one-liners are a cute starting point, but I like to really develop my muse and the ship throughout the whole thread. Love to hear the muses' internal thoughts and personalities come through - especially in the context of a situation. One-note and one-dimensional things dim my inspiration.

pet peeves & dealbreakers: when it's obvious someone hasn't read my rules or anything about the muse they're replying to. Or when they try to initiate something that wouldn't make sense for my muse (ex. Why would any of my successful muses in their mid 30's be in a relationship with a random person in their early 20's who's a retail worker or something??). Or trying to ship characters solely based on them being the same race/ethnicity, instead of considering their backgrounds and if their personalities would actually have chemistry.

plots or memes: memes for fun, one-off writings or headcanons <3 love em. plots are great for a loose idea / starting point

best time to write: who even knows honestly lol, just when the inspiration strikes? sometimes it's in the morning/afternoon on my days off, sometimes at night if a glass of wine or hit from my weed pen gives me creative inspo (then I edit later lol)

are you like your muse?: not really. some will have little pieces or traits of myself in them, or people I've known irl, or some very loose references to characters in tv/movies/books that I enjoy. I prefer characters who are different from each other and myself, different verses and lifestyles and scenarios I'd never live through - cause that's more fun and pushes me outside of my comfort zone. (!) estou terminando esse texto pelo celular e não é a coisa mais confortável do mundo, mas a ideia de não postar essa lista até o fim do ano me assombra, então vai como dá! escrevo daqui:

esse foi um ano de muitas leituras direcionadas. li para dar oficinas, li pra escrever o artigo-tcc da especialização (essa palavra). também li muitas coisas que circulam fora do formato do livro físico - artigos científicos em pdf, xerox, newsletters, posts de blog e audiolivros. li muito pelo celular (como estou escrevendo agora).

entrei meio forte nos autobiográficos, ficcionais e não, entre eles ficaram marcados:

o texto Cut and Paste: Teen Magazines and the Collaged Self, de Maya Man, foi ótimo pra me reconectar com a entidade young girl - um assunto que maya man também pesquisa - além de me dar insumos preciosos pra pensar a colagem, o que bombou com o tcc de Leo Laura, “RECORTO, RASGO, GUARDO E FAÇO DISSO UM POUCO MEU TAMBÉM: colagem como prática artística metodológica”, uma das leituras mais valiosas do ano!

fiquei obcecado no Tim Curry. sei lá, o que dizer? charme inegável e rizz diamante. assisti Clue, Ferngully, Rocky Horror de novo, Muppets na Ilha do Tesouro, Addams Family Values, Charlie’s Angels (bangers only) só pra ouvir a voz e admirar a beleza de Tim Curry.

esse causo no wikipedia também ficou aparecendo em flashes na minha mente por um bom tempo.

também obcequei com fotos de lugares antigos e imagens de catálogo de objetos, que viraram, lentamente, uma imagem e depois uma gravura em risografia (amuleto). comecei a guardar essas imagens em uma pasta.

assisti muita coisa repetida, de tv e cinema. das novidades, a série pen15 tem sido a mais empolgante, em especial o episódio “yuki”, da segunda temporada.

dos 93 filmes que assisti, Birth (2004), Taking Off (1971), Grizzly Man (2005), Dogs Don’t Wear Pants (2012) foram talvez os mais comoventes. amei reassistir Kill Bill e Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

de música, nem consigo descrever o quanto me envolvi com o álbum World of Work da Clarissa Connelly. foi uma experiência tão profunda e familiar ouvir de novo e de novo e de novo. também gostei muito do Universidade Favela do Edgar, e o Tidligere den dagen de Smerz + GAEA é o tipo de música que eu gostaria de fazer. toda vez que ouço fico passado (e inspirado).

a coisa que cozinhei que mais comi e amei fazer foi arroz com leite de coco + curry.

tanta coisa foi incrível e gigante, mas por ora reservo essas aqui.

eu adoraria experimentar um jeito diferente de registrar mídias consumidas no ano que vem, mas ainda não faço ideia como. vou pesquisar mais em janeiro (e aceito dicas!)

I made this song because Emma Watson is my main cosmic love. To understand what that means visit CosmicLuve.com. This song is a remake from ‘The Chalice Mixtape’ which was basically my first release back in 2017. I have since remade a lot of the songs and still want to take Emma on a date. I think we would hit it off and have a meet-cute. 

Basically, all I want is to meet and be friends, everything else is a bonus. I just want to make her happy and win her affection. I honestly just want to be loved by her and win her friendship and affection. I would love to know what she thinks about my cosmic luve blog. Of course, I want more but it’s healthy to manage expectations and although I think we would get along great, I don’t really know that much about her. She’s intentionally mysterious and lives an ocean away. 

Honestly, I could care less she’s famous. I find it as a detriment if anything I wish she was less famous. I like her because she’s adorable. I find her relatable, charming, and intelligent. I have 5 main cousic luves that I stick to. They are Eros. Outside that, it’s agape 

I would like the thank Emma for being my dream girl and being an idyllic figure for me. Although I hope she finds love even if it’s not with me, I feel very fortunate that Emma is “partnered with herself.” In that way she can be my dream, this idol woman I look up to and strive to have a relationship with. I would probably stop if she got married. Jennifer Lawrence used to be a cosmic luve but I never talk about her anymore because she tied the knot. Like I did with Taylor, I would focus more on Gaia’s interpretation rather than my personal para-social relationship.

In this song I’m just playfully teasing Emma because I don’t know that much about her. I have found websites supposedly with her favorite things, but I don’t know if it’s accurate when it really comes down to it. Basically “Charlotte’s Web” is a song about Emma’s likes (from one of those sites) in an attempt to get her attention. Being my “dream girl,” and like all people do unwittingly, I fill in the (wide) gaps of Emma’s personality with attributes that would make me a better person. Emma is intentionally ambiguous and I like to play off that. Although I would love for her to crush my hopes and dreams by disagreeing with me, the truth is I’m sure she’s human, falible, and just as prone to disagreement/conflict.

I call her Charlotte off her middle name for various reasons. I would use her second middle name but I don’t know how to say it, among other reasons. This brings me to my point that, I’m doing this blind. I’m trying to be a gentleman but the question remains does she like it? Cuz I don’t wanna talk about her romantically unless she’s at least okay with it. The goal in doing all of this is to have the resources to broach a relationship.
