Im so incredibly sad about my Trevelyan and his entire dynamic with his family especially with his twin sister Lena. Like Leonus and Lena are tight yet they were seperated from eachother for almost their entire lives all because Lena turned out to be a mage. And on top of that the moment they finally reunited again after Leonus decided to get her from the Ostwick Circle when the circle fell he ended up finding out that his sister was made Tranquil for no legitimate reason. And god the way it made not only him but the household mad. They never wanted to give Lena away to the circle in the first place but they had to. And now that they got her back she is nothing anymore but a husk of the lively, bright and cheerful young lady she used to be. The way Leonus was send to Haven in his family's name to go support the mages because of his sister, the way he decides to recruit the mages instead of the templars all because of his sister. Every choice he makes every decision that is forced upon him is decided by the thought process of 'Would this affect Lena in a positive way?'.

Not to mention how absolutely furious he gets when he finds out through Cassandra that there always was a cure for tranquility, that his sister could have already been cured her and many other mages. But it was all kept a secret instead.

I love the way my Trevelyan is so ride or die for his twin and how much influence she has on his, she truly haunts the narrative.

Lena Trevelyan is haunted by three ghosts, only two of which are metaphorical, and only one of those is actually dead. Still, after an explosion at the Conclave leaves her with a mark on her hand and a sudden leadership position in the newly-formed Inquisition, she means to do right by them.

Oh, and by the Inquisition, too.

author’s notes: so, it’s like this. i hit a nasty dry spell due to 2018 (and 2019) (and 2020) (and 2021) (and 2022) being Like That and decided to just, like. start writing. anything. even, to pick an example completely at random, my wildly in-depth and only mostly canon-compliant-ish headcanon regarding my inquisitor in da:i. you know, just anything, even if i never posted it because it’s in a fandom i’ve only played one-third of the canon for and have read exactly one-half of one fanfiction in and have only vaguely trawled the tags on tumblr for. in fact, i thought, that’s perfect! because no one was going to see my rusty-ass self-indulgent writing, i could just let go and write whatever the heck i wanted without any expectations or fear of disappointing anyone!

and it worked! i got writing!

a lot.

after the first, oh, 30,000 words i went “i have put entirely too much time, effort, and thought into this fic to not share it” but i also wanted to see if there was any interest at all in this before i continue from the over 70k words i already have written. so here’s part one, as an appetizer.

is there an audience for this? i have no idea. will it be loved or loathed or totally ignored? i couldn’t tell you. is it entirely compliant with the world as shown in all three of the games? i mean, as much as i could glean from the codex entries and an exhaustive number of pages on the dragon age wiki, but it’s entirely possible that i got something wrong, and if so, please just roll with it and don’t tell me unless it's something tiny i can fix in ten minutes or less.

so! this is basically, at its heart, a novelization of the game except with some heavy liberties taken, many scenes added and some altered or rearranged, and an extra three cups of humanism added to the mix because that is who i am as a person. each part covers one major storyline quest, and early on it follows the script pretty closely, mainly only in the first chapter, but that will rapidly become less and less the case as we progress through the story, and eventually be significantly different beyond the so-called “stations” of the canon.

Lena awoke in a place both horribly familiar and completely alien, staggering to her feet and reeling — she felt hungover, head splitting and throbbing, every heartbeat a hammer-blow to the skull. She was in a dark place, cold, lit green and black; she knew it, but like a song she’d heard once as a child and nearly forgotten, only the barest trace of the tune lingering in the back of her throat. She knew this place. She knew it. She —

— there were… things behind her, huge spiders with thousands of eyes, glittering like the jewels in Grandmother’s dress. A voice she could never, ever forget said her name from somewhere off to the side, and filled her with a panic so profound that it nearly choked the breath out of her.

Hurry!

She turned away from the spiders and began running, stumbling over her feet, toward the new voice: a glow in the shape of a Chantry sister, reaching out to her from atop a high place. The spiders chased, the sister reached, and Lena staggered against the rock, faltered, then threw her left hand forward, to grasp the figure.

Everything went white.

There was a moment, or half of one, where she breathed in smoky air and heard voices yelling and the clanking of armor, a single flash of reality between the light and the darkness, before she collapsed.

WIP Trivia - Heroes of Thedas

In chapter 45 of my story Forgotten (Book #4 in my Heroes of Thedas series), Inquisitor Lena and the gang find themselves in Crestwood where there’s a rift in the middle of the lake that was once Old Crestwood that is making the drowned people from 10 years ago come back to life and terrorize the people of New Crestwood. The lake is drained and the gang goes down into the caves where they start to discover that the caves holding refugees from the Fifth Blight and some of the sick and wounded were intentionally flooded, killing them. In the cave, Lena notices the scratch marks on the wall and meets Celin Gilmore’s frightened spirit. For anybody who has read the first book of my series, Fated, this name is no coincidence. Celin is in fact the younger sister of Sir Roderick Gilmore. It’s my own personal headcanon that since Gilmore’s family fled their bannorn during the Blight and seeked refuge in Crestwood where they were killed when the Mayor flooded the town.

TL;DR: In Forgotten, the little girl ghost in the flooded Crestwood caves was Sir Roderick Gilmore’s sister. Basically the whole Gilmore bloodline is wiped out in the series and that’s my own personal headcanon for the series.

I managed to get DA:I working hooray! Not all my mods work and I couldn't find a braid I liked so she's going to have to be short hair Ellie from the start for now (Eleanor is meant to start the adventure with a heavy plait and cut it off for ~symbolic reasons~ en route to Skyhold, if anyone knows a good mod with a braid please tell meeeee) but still. Even if the lighting is shit that top image is SO CLOSE she's only missing her freckles!

She beautiful. My gorgeous girl. I tried to make her look a bit more like the 30-year-old she is and a bit less angy than my first playthrough. For some reason she ended up with resting bitch face which was very funny but wildly inappropriate.

1. Their favorite thing to do with free time?

In her free time, she tries to spend time with her husband and king, Alistair. Despite their near impossible odds of fertility being both Wardens, he insists they keep trying to produce an heir. She also enjoys when they can sneak off together to go riding in the Ferelden countryside, have picnics, sparring in the training yard of the castle and strolling around the Denerim marketplace for odd wares to decorate their bedchamber. When Alistair is away or busy, she’s usually found reading in the garden (usually various tomes sent to her from her former companions or various books from Hawke’s friend, Varric’s many serials), embroidering, catching up on her correspondences with her brother, playing and caring for her pack of mabaris or inquiring at the castle kitchens for new types of cheese to surprise Alistair.

2. How did they get their name?

Eleanor Cousland grew up listening to stories about an Empress named Analise who ruled over a valley of gold and rode a chariot drawn by giant cats into battle. She idolized the woman in the story so much that she named her only daughter after her.

3. How would they react if there was an impromptu bout of mud wrestling at their home base? What about if one of the companions challenged them?

Despite being a Warden, she is first and foremost a lady so she would decline the challenge. However, she would be happy to chose  champion to fight for her and bet against others while watching. 

4. Would they rather travel or stay at home?

Ana is definitely one who prefers travelling since she travels with her husband and her hounds. She’s also a very proud Ferelden woman and loves to explore her homeland and meet her people.

Lena loves to hunt, ride, fuck, drink, party and play various games with her companions. She reads as well but more often than not, she likes to be social and just have a good time. 

2. How did they get their name?

Technically named after her mother, Madalena.

3. How would they react if there was an impromptu bout of mud wrestling at their home base? What about if one of the companions challenged them?

She’s ask for it to be a drunk mud wrestling match as she starts stripping down to prepare. If one of her companions challenged her, she would make sure they set wagers to make things more interesting. After all, who wouldn’t want to see Zevran walk around in a plaidweave kilt or loincloth for a day? It would be excruciating for Dorian and Vivienne and e uncomfortable for Cullen which would make it far more funny for everybody else.

4. Would they rather travel or stay at home?

Lena would say she doesn’t have a preference as long as she has her boys with her (Dorian, Varric, Nevan and Bull). With them with her, she can handle anything and be entertained the entire time.

I love family dynamics, okay?  Yes, the Trevelyans have seven kids.  And if I were trying to be more historically accurate, then all the other noble families on this list would have similar numbers because they all want a male heir, and a lot of kids die of illness and disease, so they gotta have a lot of them.
