I looked at too much All that remains fanart today, and was inspired to reconsider my take on the aftermath.

I mean, I didn't think Fenris would dare to touch Hawke after their night together, but...

All of a sudden DOG came into the picture to offer his master some physical comfort and I guess Fenris felt somewhat ... shamed? for his hesitation?

So now he puts his hand on Hawke's shoulder to at least let him know he's not alone.

I think it's funny that when Cassandra gathers ppl to save the world you get the (mostly) het Inquisition. But when Varric gathers people it's always a wild pack of deranged fruits, AKA the DA2 crew minus Sebastian (the dlc straight) and the Veilguard minus Solas (status pending)

I kept thinking about Leandra's first impression of Fenris. I speculated that she might have been intimidated by him in the beginning, so here it is!

The very first time she sees him when he waits for the Hawke brothers outside.

She might have feared he came to kill them even... Hawke has to explain that Fenris is his new friend, and that he's actually quite fun (ah, their first private conversation is so great! "You sound like you're about to ask for a loan - Well, that mansion does require some upkeep." They hit it off almost from the start...). I imagine Leandra finds it hard to believe, what's with that murderous aura, and probably points out that he looks nothing like the menacing people Hawke had to deal with as a mercenary. Hawke has to reassure her - he understands his mother's fears but himself finds it amusing because he and Fenris are already pretty comfortable with each other.

Meanwhile Carver who is also not yet familiar with Fenris, is uneasy because that new guy is too powerful and impossibly cool for his comfort and made his dislike of mages obvious, and if worst comes to worst overpowering him would be difficult, but he will protect his brother. sweet pea!
