Just arranged to have our rotten countertop and rusty sink replaced. It's gonna eat up every bit of money I have, but we'll have a safe and functioning kitchen again so I need to believe it's worth it

HEY I MADE SOME LED LIGHTS (Heads up: flashing bulb, loud fan)
[Video ID: On a wooden table sits some 194 sized bulbs. Some are glass, some are LED. There are a few PCB’s of unpopulated LED 194 bulbs. There is a stand in the middle holding one LED 194. Throughout the 12 second video, the bulb is turned on and off, with a single beep for each state change. There is also a LOUD buzzing sound, which is the universal power supply fan. End ID]
I have a few things in my world that use a 12 Volt 194 Incadesant light bulb. Two automotives, a Flashlight, and some old tech. And while the original factory-designed bulbs are alright, I would prefer to have something more modern and brighter. Now, there are a lot of LED replacements on the market, but none are perfect. Some need to be angled the correct way, some are polarized, some can only go in specific 194 sockets, and most are just absolute shit quality.
SO! I set out a design goal :) I wanted to make a 194 LED bulb that was A.) Rated for 14V 0.5A (improvement on the original), was not polarized, could fit into ANY 194 socket, had a wide viewing angle, Automotive grade, and lastly, could actually last longer than a week (Goal is at least 50K hours).
And this is my first attempt! It is . .. well buggy. What do you expect for prototype number 1? But, I have already designed a second one, and once I’m sold on how efficient this one is, I’ll finalize that second one and try again. But! despite the bugs, it does still light :) And it (somewhat) does meet all my requirements as well 💙💜
Anyways, I’ll add on an update for when part two comes out, maybe late Fall 2024. The boards are NOT cheap, as they need special requirements over a regular PCB.

Is it safe to turn off your car engine when stopped at an intersection or stop sign for a short period of time (less than 30 seconds)?
Truck drivers keep their lights on when they stop to rest. The reasons are mainly as follows, which are analyzed in combination with industry characteristics and technical background:
Safety warning needs
Night parking warning
Trucks are large in size. When parking on the roadside or in informal parking lots at night, turning on the lights (especially width lights or parking lights) can significantly improve vehicle visibility and avoid rear-end collisions due to poor visibility. The "night parking lights" function of some vehicles will automatically light up the lights on the side close to the road to alert other vehicles.
Special scene requirements
On dark roads without street lights or tunnel exits, keeping the lights on can help drivers adapt to the environment faster when restarting, while warning pedestrians and non-motor vehicles.
Environmental and driving habit factors
Fatigue driving resistance
Long-distance driving can easily lead to fatigue. Some drivers keep the lights on to maintain their mental state, and strong light environments may help relieve drowsiness.
Equipment dependence and misoperation
Automatic lighting system: Some trucks are equipped with "automatic headlights" or "go home with me" functions, and the low beam lights may be kept on by default for several minutes after the engine is turned off.
Mistaken switch: The driver may accidentally turn on the parking lights or daytime running lights when operating the light control.
Regulations and industry norms
Mandatory requirements in some regions
Some states in the United States require that taillights must be turned on when parking at night. Although there is no such mandatory regulation in China, industry habits may be affected by this.
Platform algorithm and operational pressure
Some logistics platforms require drivers to upload location information in real time. Keeping the lights on may be mistaken for the vehicle being in working condition to avoid platform misjudgment.
Technical and economic considerations
Balance between battery loss and cost
Turning on the lights for a long time will consume battery power, but some drivers are more inclined to accept battery loss than frequently starting and stopping the engine when parking (increasing fuel consumption and carbon deposit risks).
Impact of equipment modification
Some trucks are modified with high-brightness LED lights or additional lighting equipment, resulting in light brightness close to the effect of high beams, which may be mistaken for turning on high beams illegally.
Potential risks and suggestions
Safety hazards
Over-reliance on lights may mask the driver's fatigue and increase the risk of accidents.
High-brightness lights may interfere with other vehicles and cause road rage or accidents.
Optimization suggestions
Use the "Auto Start and Stop" function to balance battery loss and safety needs.
Choose a compliant parking light mode (such as turning on only the width lights) to avoid abusing the high beam.
In summary, the behavior of truck drivers keeping the lights on is the result of the combined effect of safety needs, industry habits and technical conditions, and its rationality needs to be evaluated in combination with specific scenarios.

I somehow accidentally managed to end up with completely different lightbulbs in every single one of the lights in my bedroom.
It’s exactly as awful as you might expect and I can’t use more the one light at once until I decide which warmth I am going to commit to.

i guarantee that no one else has ever thought abt this but i LOVE incandescent flashlights, the warm light twist activate ones are my FAVORITE, i really dont know why but they feel so much better than LEDs. Speaking of LEDs, while i support them for sustainable reasons, and red green and blue LEDs on their own are completely fine, I HATE WHITE LEDs WITH A BURNING PASSION, THEIR TRASH COLD LIGHT REMINDS ME OF HOSPITALS AND BORING CLASSES (i like the buzzing tho, that can stay). AND CLICK ACTIVATE FLASHLIGHTS ARE BAAAAAD. PUSH SWITCHES, AND TWIST ACTIVATES WERE FINE AND ARE FINE, BUT NOOOOOOOO, WE HAAAAD TO HAVE CLICKY BUTTONS, THERE IS NOT A PERSON IN EXISTENCE WHO HAS USED THE STROBE FEATURE ON A FLASHLIGHT FOR AN INTENDED REASON EVER. Yes, it's a good stim (like pen clicking), but PUSH SWITCHES ALREADY EXISTED, WERE QUIETER, AND HAD MORE VARIETY (they also let you half slide (like the light switch in the middle) which i find more fun). Anyways, i know why they are being phased out but im sad abt it and FUCK LEDs! I HATE THEM (in lighting contexts). Thank you for reading my rant this far

New year, new viv!
Finally got the 4x2x2 viv set up for Ed yesterday! I want to get some more bigger branches and rocks for it, but I suppose this is a decent start. He seems to like his new basking box so far! I didn't get to watch, but he did manage to get down to his salad & back up on it, so hopefully that was done without falling. 😅 His mobility is so much better, but I'm still anxious.
