Does anyone else have record or data about which learned societies Francis Crozier was a part of?
I only have RAS and FRS in there. But I feel there was also RGS but I am struggling to confirm. If anyone has any other data, could you send it my way?

You're not uniquely talented or hard working you just went to the right schools.
Yes, yes! This is exactly why I started Philosophy Tube! Why shouldn't someone else, anyone else, have access to the education I got??? The intellectual and cultural heritage of our species is for everyone, not just privileged people like me! :)

A little tired of people saying Moon can’t stand up for herself. Like yeah I think one of the flaws she has is she is too lenient and forgiving, but also in her situation it’s VERY HARD not to be. And it’s very situational, usually manifesting with Five Pebbles.
She stops talking to you if you annoy her enough, and only starts again if you win her back over. You have to put in the work. She isn’t “rolling over” and letting things happen to her, despite the fact that she is in absolutely no position to bargain. As stated by her, her kindness and her words are the ONLY thing she has. So her taking those away from you, the player, is absolutely her standing up for herself.
Everyone brings up how she handles Five Pebbles (esp the comms thing) and it is incredible to me just how many people lay this entirely at her feet when the game states over and over again that even despite Moon’s intentional feather-light influence over him, he still resents her for being his superior. He seeks out a mentor who is her opposite.
He wants to be something more than what he is, wants to be detached from her, and she can’t do anything about that but do the best she can to exert as little influence over him as possible.
She is stuck between a rock and a hard place here, and was betting on her kindness to have fostered enough mutual respect that she wouldn’t have to resort to forced communications. She was wrong. He was driven by fierce desperation, something that she wasn’t privy to. And she paid for it.
Yes, this is a flaw of hers. But it’s not a universal one. (the rest of the iterators look to her for help- she’s the group senior for gods sake- and people act like she can’t take a stand) I genuinely doubt Moon would’ve waited so long to used forced comms if it were happening to anyone else. If it were being committed by anyone else. And that just makes the tragedy even sweeter.

I love how every pro-pals argument when they're proven wrong is "I'm not arguing with a zionist, go kill yourself."
It's like these people never learned to have a normal, civil conversation without telling people to kill themselves...

It’s so funny when liberals lecture communists about not knowing how anything works, that we need to grow up and face the real world etc, while publicly demonstrating that their political imagination is so deeply impoverished that they genuinely believe the only thing the leader of the most powerful country on the planet in all of human history can do is block a slightly more fascist guy from taking his place every four years

"Kaidan Alenko is boring" WRONG. Kaidan Alenko is one of THEE characters of all time. He's Canadian, he's Schrodinger's man of colour, he's DOWN to fuck and still didn't manage to figure out that he's bisexual until his thirties, he killed a man as a teenager and almost caused a diplomatic meltdown bc of it, his tits are bigger than yours, he's constantly getting migraines, he has autism but doesn't know it AND he glows. What more could you want

i want to explore mafumom’s character more! when we write her off as a 2-dimensional abusive mother, we ignore a lot of crucial points of her character.
one time i saw it pointed out that mafuyu’s parents pushed her into a more traditionally masculine career, while her aspiration was more “feminine”. this completely changed the way i viewed mafuyu’s arc. for context, in japan, approximately 76% of doctors are male, while around 92% of nurses are female. when you combine this with the two things we know about mafumom personally, it starts to paint a different picture.
1. mrs. asahina is a housewife 2. mrs. asahina is well-respected in the community FOR her duty as a housewife. it isn’t a stretch to say she is seen as inseparable from her husband and especially, her daughter. she isn’t even given a name! despite having a model, voice, and being narratively important, we know her only by her family name, likely because she is seen as just an extension (or servant) to her family. hm. even parents like ken or shinei are given names and their own backstories in-game, while mrs. asahina gets nothing. again, hm.
i believe mafuyu’s mom has lost her own identity as a result of becoming a housewife and mother, and with the knowledge that she Does genuinely care for mafuyu in some aspect, it makes sense that she wouldn’t want that for her child. she pushed mafuyu into a typically masculine career as a way to ensure she never loses herself and becomes a victim to the patriarchal society as she did. it does not excuse the horrific emotional abuse towards mafuyu in any way, but it does give context for her actions. mrs. asahina wanted to create a better, successful life for her daughter, instead of wasting away her talents as nothing but a wife for her entire adulthood. similarly to shinei, she wanted to stop a cycle of hurt, but ended up perpetuating it herself (mostly because of her inability to actually listen to mafuyu or recognize her own trauma).
of course, the latter half of this post is all speculation. we will probably never know exactly what goes on in mrs. asahina’s head, and i think that’s the point! but it doesn’t hurt to try and understand her reasons for hurting mafuyu.

I've seen someone say that aplatonic people should seek psychological help because they've faced difficulties making friends in the past and improved after undergoing treatment. Well, a few points:
1. Your experience is not universal
2. I can't form friendships because I get bored and apathetic very quickly. And I have no desire to make friends. Like, not a little bit. Aplatonicity isn't just "having difficulty in making friends" (although an aplatonic person may have this experience, aplatonic people are diverse)
3. There are people who don't feel platonic attraction but have friendships (just like feeling sexual attraction ≠ liking to have sex, feeling platonic attraction ≠ like making friends)
4. Not every neurodivergent person who cannot form friendships seeks or will be able to "get better"
5. Your experience is not universal
