A noble is traveling through the woods and Merlin sees him mistreating his servants.

Noble: come on, move faster! we need to get to Camelot before sundown. I don’t want to spend any longer in these words than I have to.

servant: *under his breath* well maybe if you gave me a horse i would be able to go a little faster

Noble: what did you say?!

the noble brings his arm up to strike the servant, but is suddenly thrown back against a tree. ropes spring up to tie the noble down.

Merlin: he said if you gave him a horse things would go faster. i happen to agree. what do you think, should i give him your horse?

Noble: Magic! You are using magic! The king will have your head for this!

Merlin: Oh he has certainly tried…several times. Anyways, its been a great chat but I actually have places to be so why don’t we speed things up? Lance? Gwaine?

Lance and Gwaine appear from behind the trees. The servant jumps back at their entrance.

Gwaine: yeah merls?

Merlin: take the excess from the cart for that village in famine we visited a couple days ago.

Gwaine: on it!

Merlin: Lance, make sure Gwaine doesnt take the ale.

Lance: on it.

Gwaine: oh come on, Merlin. whats the point of being an outlaw if we can’t benefit from it just a little?

Merlin: we’re not outlaws. we are just working outside of the law.

Merlin turns to face the servant.

Servant: Who ARE you?

Merlin: the names Merlin but some call me emrys and one calls me an idiot but i dont listen to him much.

Servant: and you steal from the rich…but you dont take anything for yourself?

Merlin: only what we need to survive

Servant: wow that’s really-

Merlin: amazing, honorable, selfless?

Servent: -a total rip-off of that guy in sherwood forest.

Gwaine: *from the cart, unloading boxes of jewelry and gold* that’s what I told him, but he didn’t listen

Lancelot: two people can do good in a similar way.

Merlin: thank you Lance, thats why you’re my favorite

Gwaine: *mock outrage* you dont mean THAT

Servant: so can I go or…

Merlin: yes you are free to leave, but you have to do one thing first…

Time jump. The throne room of the castle.

Uther: he said what?!

Servant: he said ‘tell the prince i appreciate the fancy jewels but i look better in blue’

Morgana hides a laugh behind her hand and Arthur glares at her. his anger isnt enough to hide his blush, and Moragna laugh harder.

Uther: Arthur, you are to go after him at once!

Arthur: but father, he has magic and seems to always be three steps ahead.

Uther: I don’t care! I will not have my kingdom be accosted by a sorcerer who taunts us at every turn

Morgana: *under her breath to Gwen as she fills her cup* he really only taunts arthur

Uther: Arthur, you will find him and make sure he burns on the pyre. we will make an example of him. no one is above the law!

Arthur: yes, father. we will leave at once

it’s so small and like ultimately insignificant but imo one of the most underrated glimpses of arthur’s natural leadership in the heat of the moment/when he’s not under Dutch’s thumb is this moment during the siege on shady belle when he gets into position after smashing the shit out of the window and immediately calls out “is everyone accounted for?”

and john’s like “idk, i think!” and Arthur I-Am-Not-Fucking-Around-Right-Now Morgan shoots back with “HEY! I said, is everyone accounted for???” shortly before running through the gunfire to get to sadie, like i just know he gave john a Talking To™️ later that night

“We should detour around the forest of Ascetir,” Arthur says, in that casual way that means he’s forgotten that anyone might disagree with him. “It’s dangerous to travel.” “Not anymore.” Merlin has his nose stuck behind a large map, trying not to look at Arthur. It's cowardice, plain and simple. He knows the path by heart: knows it from every single time he’s gone to visit his mother, or his friends. Knows it too from every clandestine meet up with the band of misfits who call themselves his court. “What, like the bandits all packed up and left?” Merlin can hear the rolling eyes in Arthur’s voice. Before he can stop himself, Merlin scoffs. “The Forest of Ascetir isn’t controlled by Camelot anymore. It’s perfectly safe.” It is, too. For travelers who stick to the paths; for the surrounding villagers who go to collect woods. For Merlin. Not usually for stuck-up heirs and dignitaries: But Merlin supposes that Arthur isn’t technically either, now. There’s a pause. When Arthur speaks, there’s an odd note to his voice. “What do you mean, it’s not controlled by Camelot?” Merlin sighs, rolls up the map, and meets Arthur’s gaze head-on. “Ascetir has been under the druids’ protection for years. It was on the list your father signed. It is officially part of Emrys’ lands, now.” Arthur goes very quiet. Then he grins as if he’s making a great joke, even if the smile doesn’t reach his eyes. “Guess I should have just married Emrys, huh.” “Guess so,” Merlin says tightly, and kicks his horse into a trot.

What is Sir Arthur like in your headcanons? Is he a good leader or a respected one?

"people always knew sir arthur had a lot of potential--probably the most out of all of the generals--but that didn't mean news that he was to be the next leader didn't come as a bit of a surprise to everyone. usually that position went to the most senior general after the leader. regardless, it seemed the former leader saw something in him, and so he tentatively, but resolutely, stepped into his new role after the former leaders death with the eyes of the universe on him

all means considered, he acted exactly how a leader should act. he planned carefully and gave orders precisely, maintained a professional appearance at all times, and took on the work of managing the army without complaint. but the shoes he had to fill were large--the criticism only amplified by him being the personal choice of the previous leader for reasons that could only be speculated on, as she had never publicly disclosed. any great achievements of arthur's only stood to be compared to the person whose footsteps he followed."

Nightwing leads a team to the past and they connect the pool of water Aquaman is trapped in to the ocean. Aquaman gains strength from the connection and floods Atlantis, sinking it beneath the waves. Nightwing makes sure all of the future Atlanteans make it through the portal while Aquaman defeats the Gamemnae of the past by breaking her tie to the earth.

she does! she has varying grades depending on how interested she is in whatever's being talked about haha

I think the schools would require standard education, like math, language, science, health, humanities and whatever else you can think of, with the addition of some "take your pick" skill classes (art, music, programming, robotics, etc) and of course censored local history, which miles is very enthusiastic about regarding its inaccuracies. I can imagine miles pulling out a whiteboard and teaching Real island history to everyone in his group just because of it

Merlin ducks forward, grabbing Arthur’s hands. His are cool and soft, and Arthur is surprised by the feel of Merlin’s palm over his own rough knuckles. “Arthur,” he says pointedly. “I know my duty, and I don’t need you to remind me. Are you always like this?”

“Like what?”

“Annoying,” Merlin says, and leans back, appraising him more thoughtfully than his tone suggests. “So concerned with your honour.”

Or: Arthur must marry Lord Emrys for a year to create an alliance between their people. Except it isn't Emrys who comes to marry him, but the young druid Merlin, who soon turns all of Camelot upside down—and Arthur with it.

Three days before the time limit, King Arthur learns of an agreement. He must unite with, which he soon found out meant ‘to marry’, the Leader of the Druids, or the Old Religion would reclaim the magic that protects Camelot.

The problem is that the current Leader of the Druids is Emrys, a man he has never met. And this man seemed to be seeing Merlin, his old flame with whom he parted on poor terms but still had affections for.
