Would be quite funny if, during Murders at Karlov Manor, everyone keeps wondering if there's a Lazav scheme going on and if he's responsible, but then it turns out he stumbled into an omenpath months ago and is currently 2/3rds of the way through a plan to take over Fiora or whatever.

Everyone going "There's no way Lazav isn't involved in these murders, we just need to find evidence"

So I read the first story in the of the Murders at Karlov Manor today!

The person that meets Kaya at then ending is Lazav disguised.

(Unless they're gonna do a double twist and it is another shapeshifter... but it isn't Teysa. However, Teysa will not reveal it because this will provide a fortuitous alibi for some other of her schemes.)

Another thing I'd bet on but not so much that I'd simply state it as truth: Kaya did notice it wasn't Teysa, because the narrator didn't tell us, but there was something subtly different about her movement. Possibly this will be used to explain why an expert shapeshifter like Lazav would have a tell that Kaya can notice; he can obviously imitate any guild leader, but he was away and didn't have time to properly imitate her newfound limp.

The best part about writing chapter 2 of Poison and Paper Trails is that I'm making Lazav genderfluid and getting all kinds of fucky with the pronouns right now. They're only going to get more.
