Judge: Wright certainly is an excellent defense lawyer, if a bit unorthodox. I don’t think he’ll ever outdo that parrot testimony though.
*Less than two weeks later*
Judge: Mr. Wright, you stand accused of murder.
Wright: Yes, Your Honor.
Judge: And it appears you’ll be representing yourself today?
Wright: No Your Honor, my representation is at the bench.
*The cat on the defense bench meows loudly*
Judge: … Mr. Wright, I’m penalizing you.
Wright: Actually Your Honor, you’re penalizing my representation.
*The cat meows even louder*
Wright: She says objection.

Law and Disorder (1958)
"Right, now listen boys, it's all lined up: we're getting rid of the judge."
"What?"
"Knock off a judge? You must be raving, we'll spend the rest of our lives in clink."
"Here, let me out!"
"We don't have to touch him. Police are gonna arrest him."
"Oh, that's better. Thought we'd turned nasty."

Morley at first appears to be playing the same kind of larger than life cartoonish buffoon he so often did but to the#credit of the film his character is revealed to have more nuance and more depth than expected in the final act. the supporting cast is wall#to wall brit character acting legends and that was the main appeal for me; nearly every speaking role is taken by someone of note‚ even if#(as in the case of permafave Alfie Burke) it's literally just 30 seconds of screentime. disposable fluff at the end of the day‚ but a#delightful kind of fluff‚ and a moreish kind‚ like cotton candy.

This happens often when I'm writing things. I start one project and immediately an idea for a sequel pops up. But what can I do, it's stronger than me. And I know where I want part 1 to go, so this was not hard to decide to write a tiny chunk for. So here's a word count update for part 2.
August 20th: 989 words.

Cole County, MO - A Jefferson City woman was charged Wednesday with several child sex crimes in Cole County.
Jennifer Cecil, 41, is charged with first-degree sexual abuse, two counts of second-degree statutory rape and having sexual contact with a student. She is being held in the Cole County Jail without bond. A court date has not been set.
The probable cause statement describes Cecil as a volunteer at a school, but does not name which Cole County school. One of the victim’s parents reported it to the Cole County Sheriff’s Office on Monday.
The teenaged victim allegedly told law enforcement that Cecil had sexual contact with him from December through July and that the relationship was initiated by Cecil, the probable cause statement says. The victim also allegedly told law enforcement that the two primarily communicated through the social media website Instagram.
A detective with the sheriff’s office noticed a gap in communication with Cecil and the victim. The teenager allegedly said Cecil asked him if there was a way the two could communicate without it being recorded. The two communicated on Instagram while turning on “vanish mode,” the probable cause statement says, which can make messages disappear after viewing.
The probable cause statement also says the two exchanged sexually explicit images.
The victim’s parents confronted Cecil and her husband about the assaults and Cecil allegedly confessed to them, the statement says.

there's a medium iced coffee waiting for celnes on her desk, with a little sticky note on it that has a rough scribble of a spade in teal ink
>She can’t help but smile a bit at the drink, a nice little way to brighten her day. She sticks the note on the corner of her computer and sips at the drink while planning her revenge and beginning her daily paperwork

A couple of things: this storyline (actually titled 'The Good Old Days' and taken from issues 8,9 and 10) is part of the over-way-too-soon 12-issue run on She-Hulk by ex-lawyer Charles Soule. It's easily the best She-Hulk run since Byrne and comes highly recommended.
But I should add that the trade paperback shown at the close of the video is NOT the trade which features this story. The trade shown is Volume 1 of the Soule run, whilst 'The Good Old Days' is in Volume 2 'Disorderly Conduct'.
But you're better off just hunting down the thick trade which collects the whole 12-issue run, She-Hulk by Charles Soule: The Complete Collection.
(And, just to ensure proper credit is given, both of the above covers are by the wonderful Kevin Wada.)
Ideally this material would be available in Omnibus format. (It remains top of my 'most wanted Omnibus' list.) As Marvel seem to have gone cool on producing thinner Omnis, it will likely have to to be bundled in with the later Tamaki run. (And maybe A-Force?) I'm sure it will happen... eventually... preferably before I die of old age or my eyesight deteriorates, please Marvel...

Marvel’s TL;DR is for the superhero fan who hasn’t gotten the chance to dive into some of Marvel’s most epic collections and thought they were too long and didn’t read (TL;DR). 📖
In this episode, Marvel looks at the case of She-Hulk: Law and Disorder. She-Hulk is decked out in all her green glory, but it’s not always about that vigilante hero spirit and living life on the edge. Nope! Instead Jen’s going to prove that all those student loans were worth it and show off what she does best: beat bad guys in a court of law.

Alfred Burke briefly pops up to offer Michael Redgrave some sage advice, as a poacher in Law and Disorder (1958)
#fave spotting#alfred burke#public eye#law and disorder#frank marker#1958#british cinema#michael redgrave#I'll be honest‚ i picked this up (secondhand for about £2) almost entirely bc i saw Alfie's name in the cast list online#i figured he wouldn't have much of a part and sure enough he's onscreen for about 30 seconds; but he gets dialogue and he is credited!#as Poacher‚ tho the character is named in dialogue: imdb says he's called Willis Pugh‚ but it sounded like Willy to me...#yes a very minor entry in the Alfie files but i wasn't too disappointed; this is actually quite a fun little comedy#also he has a fairly athletic exit from his scene‚ vaulting over a low wall onto a beach below#assuming it isn't a double (that particular shot is fairly long)

E | Buddie | Lawyers AU | Chap 6/6 - Complete!
Eddie woke up to the feel of Buck heavy around him, the room still dark, save for the dwindling light of the streets coming from the still-open window. He looked up to his phone on the nightstand to see the time glowing, 3.17am.
He grumbled lightly, and for a moment he considered just closing his eyes again and settling back into Buck's warm embrace. But he couldn't stay.
Slowly and carefully, he slipped out of Buck's lax grip to sit on the edge of the bed, looking down at his clothes where they lay strewn across the floor in a mix with Buck's. As he collected them and began to re-dress, he looked around the room, and then back to where Buck slept peacefully, snoring gently against the pillow. He felt a kind of heaviness settle in his gut.
This night, the entire weekend, had been a perfect escape from his real world, an insight into what his life might have been life if things had been different. And it had been wonderful, Buck had been wonderful. But it wasn't Eddie's life.
