Would love that essay about LYR 🖤

tbh it's probably less of an essay than i made it sound like and more of a mass of unorganised thoughts bUt essentially my main thought about lyr is that alex wrote it about jack as a sort of 'loved and lost' (?) type thing if that makes sense?? like my general idea is that alex always knew that jack had feelings for him, and maybe they were more than friends at some point when they were young (this is something i've considered due to lines in other songs). as such, i think lyr is alex telling jack that what they had meant something to him, but that he knew that they never would've worked out

i'll break it down by the lines that i think are most important; for starters, "you said you're sick and tired of it" can be interpreted as jack wanting more with alex but alex only ever wanting to be casual - at most, bc with my theory i think that anything that they were when they were younger was very casual, barely dating. the only time i think they had a serious relationship was 2020 - 2022, but that's a separate point.

"but i need you morning, night and day" honestly is a testament to how close jack and alex really are - perhaps alex felt like he knew he was playing with jack's feelings, but couldn't help it bc he needed jack in his life regardless of the capacity. "i miss you every single way" - perhaps he and jack lost their closeness momentarily, both as friends and also as whatever they were, and alex was lamenting that. "we said forever but forever wouldn't wait for us" sounds like alex talking about how they never could've worked out no matter how much they wanted to, or equally they - or perhaps alex specifically - took too much time figuring out what they wanted that life moved on without them

a lot of this is quite hard to put into words so i'm sort of borrowing analysis from genius lyrics, and it defines a renegade as being someone who rejects conventional behaviour. this is hard to explain but i feel like maybe alex was saying that his relationship with jack was always unconventional, with the two of them blurring the line between being friends and being more. also, maybe at this point in time (2017 or earlier, depending on when exactly it was actually written) alex still thought he was straight so the idea of having a relationship with a man was unconventional for him, someone who thought he was straight (clearly i think he's come out in some capacity since then but that's also beside the point)

"caught in the eye of a hurricane" - this links back to the idea of alex knowing that he and jack never could've actually worked out as a couple - there are several other songs which also follow this theme (one of which is a daydream away), and i'd be happy to make another post about that skdhfk

"we used to be such a burning flame, now we're just smoke in the summer rain" sounds like alex is saying that what they had was great, and although it's over, there are still traces of what they perhaps used to be

i feel like i could write so much more on this but honestly it's a lot harder to put into words than i thought. like i know what i mean but it's just so hard to verbalise, if that makes sense. in any case, this song is so them and ir hurts my heart every time i listen to it ;-;

I am going to analyze and describe to you guys every All Time Low’s records because I love ranting about the aesthetics and stuff.

I’m just gonna put TTWtRiDwtE and The Party Scene together because I don’t listen to them THAT much, I still love them though. I’m gonna say that they have massive high school vibes and idk I just love the vibes AND THE LYRICS. I fucking love the lyrics of every single song on these records. words cannot explain.

My favs are probably Break Out! Break Out! and the hustler one

Fav lyrics: “The memories of broken dreams We were so tired yet so alive”

It’s So Wrong It’s Right turn. On this record I have to say that even though I don’t like every every song on it, I love the instrumental parts SO much; I think that the guitars, the bass and the drum parts are legitimately amazing. Nothing more to say.

I really love let it roll and stay awake.

Nothing Personal. My fucking record. I love every song on this record with every single body cells that I have. The lyrics are really teenager-ish but I think that goes along well with the whole concept and vibe of the record

We have been waiting for this one. Dirty Work. At first I didn’t like this album because the songs just didn’t catch my attention but when I listened to it again carefully…this one goes hard. it really does. the lyrics are amazing and I like all the sassy-ness in this record SO much.

Don’t Panic is my brother, my pal, my mate, my friend and my lover. I love this record from head to toes. I really love everything about this album, from the amazing lyrics to the instrumental parts to just the vibes in general.

AGAIN I love every every song. Every lyric is just.

THE RECORD. Future Hearts. This one is number one on the top for the lyrics. Heartwarming, comforting yet harsh and raw in some way. I link this album with the feeling of wanting to let go of the things that make you feel bad. with the feeling of searching for a safe place to be where you can rest for a while. I used to listen to this record biblically everyday because I was in so much pain and just listening to it made me feel better.

I am so fond of Last Young Renegade. The whole concept behind the record is amazing, the lyrics are incredible and deep and the movies are just *chef’s kiss* the peaks of the vibes. I fucking love the whole aesthetic: jeans jackets, late night car rides, neon signs and lights, rock and loud music… man I really based my personality on this freakin record and I do not regret it. At all. This is my fav record and probably this thing will never change. It bring me so much comfort I can’t explain it.

MY BABY Wake Up, Sunshine. I discovered the boys through WUS so it has a very special place in my heart. This record is the definition of comfort, safety, summer and love. In a bad mood? Listen to WUS. In a good mood? Listen to WUS. It’s a REMEDY. This record saved me so many times. The vibes are immaculate and the whole aesthetic brings joy and happiness.

I am so sorry that some of your writing was giving you anxiety and people were being terrible! I hope that archiving them sets the boundary you need and you are able to let these go. It’s a shame people cannot appreciate the content for how fun it is unfinished or not and that you feel pressured to generate specific content FOR FREE! Hoping that you only are doing the writing you want for yourself and appropriately ignoring everything else.

It's not like I deleted all of it, or even half of it. And it's not the end, or anything. I'm still writing. I'm surprised some people are upset, I don't think I put anything in the archive that was terribly popular minus LYR and I've said many times I am not going back to it.
