Today's Dog: Lakeland Terriers! Lakies are a small terrier from the Lake District in the UK. They can be white or a darker brown. They are characterized by their long fall (that's their beard!) and their characteristic grooming. The most famous Lakie I can think of is the wonderful MM, who won the Terrier Group at Westminster in 2022, and also competed at the NDS that same year.

Lakeland terrier | Limited edition fine art print from an original drawing. My sketches start life as hand-drawn graphite images made on cartridge paper. I often work on these with charcoal, oil pastel or Caran d'Ache to create the look I'm after. The artwork is then scanned and finessed digitally ready for fine art printing. Number 178, the Lakeland Terrier. The breed originates from the mountainous north-west part of England, the Lake District, where they have long been used to hunt and exterminate vermin, especially highland foxes.

A Little Memory…

It’s been too long since I blogged. This wasn’t the blog I had planned to write, but, as always ‘Life’ shows you the way. Despite not blogging for over two months my blog had a phenomenal number of hits today, over 250! You have to get one dog from each AKC breed group, what breeds are you getting?

We’ll do FCI breed groups to mix things up.

Group 1 Herders: Belgian shepherd tervuren, obviously.

Group 2 Pinschers & Mollossers: I really do not vibe with this group but we’ll do an entlebucher sennehund.

Group 3 Terriers: JRT of the shorty variety. I also think lakelands are cute but haven’t met many in person.

Group 4 Dachshunds: Mini long superiority!

Group 5 Spitz & Primitives: I could do a coated xolo or a podengo pequeno. I’ve met both in person and they’re neat.

Group 6 Scenthounds: One of the bassets, drever, or dachsbracke. Love me a short scenthound.

Group 7 Pointing Dogs: Another group I do not vibe with. We’ll do the English setter.

Group 8 Retrievers: Working cocker spaniel. A friend has one and I want to steal her.

Group 9 Companions & Toys: Havanese! My beloved.

Group 10 Sighthounds: Magyar agar. Greyhound with a knife.

I stripped a huge amount more than usual, as I’m much more practiced these days and he was tolerating it well. He’s a good boy :)
