Humanity VS Divinity

The ancient Greeks embraced life passionately, loved unashamedly, and followed their innermost desires. They established a remarkably sophisticated society renowned for its advancements. However, they did not value humility, viewing it as a source of shame. Humility seemed out of place in a society that esteemed reputation, power, and honor above all else.

The only form of humility deemed acceptable was reverence to the gods, acknowledging one's position within the hierarchical structure. In the myths told, most Heroes were taught humility or suffered the consequences, usually resulting in death.

Captain Pit lives his life with unapologetic boldness and unwavering dedication to serving Goddess Palutena. His deep sense of duty and reverence for Palutena's superiority often lead him to view himself as superior to mortals. This unwavering loyalty and pride in serving his master define his character, shaping his actions and interactions with others.

However...

Pit's inherent humanity has been with him since his creation, leaving him ostracized between mortals and Gods. In a world where repentance is requital, balancing wrong and right, the Captain of Angels has been exposed to something foreign to the Olympians and most deities: pain, suffering, guilt, and forgiveness—experiences and emotions that define and shape mortals for better or worse.

Like two powerful kingdoms consistently at war, Pit battles with the nature of his anomalism. His empathy, a trait that should be beyond his reach, often leads him to connect so strongly with the mortals that it affects his status among the divine. This connection, this understanding of mortal emotions, is a double-edged sword for Pit. Palutena, the goddess of light, created her Angels as the perfect servants, obedient and detached from vexing emotions that might lead them astray. Lady Palutena has always grappled with the concept of free will, a trait that even the Gods have attempted to influence, direct, and penalize mortals for. Despite her acknowledgment of this fundamental aspect of humanity, she often tests the limits of her authority with her Captain. His defiance, evidence of his foolhardiness and humanity, is a thorn in the Goddess' side and other Gods, who Pit has tested their authority. Time and again, Pit has demonstrated a remarkable ability to defy her commands and make independent decisions. In her relentless pursuit of exerting control, she has resorted to drastic measures, such as repeatedly erasing his memories, in an attempt to mold him into a more compliant version of himself.

When he was younger, Pit's behavior was worse. But now, as Palutena's Captain and Leader of her royal bodyguard, he tries to behave himself for her sake and the safety of their home, lest he invoke the wrath of Olympus.

It's a lonely, tiring existence.

In order of rounds and reasons.

Kaito vs Athena 'Of steady hand and still blade I shall strike you down.'

Paradox vs Kali 'the living apocalypse who fights to protect his family vs the berserker warrior goddess who will do anything for her husband Shiva'

Tsugu vs Tyr 'the righteous god of war and justice vs the most innocent and pure of the mortal champions'

Bun vs Azazael 'you and I have suffered for the mistakes and sins of others. I'm so sorry I wished we met under and other circumstances. So do I.' (You chose who says what)

Sunblood vs Isis (yes that's her name) 'Both gods connected to many things. Sunblood despite being a science God is also connected wisdom knowledge medicine Foresight hindsight and more while Isis is a healing magic fertility and moon despite normally being seen as the motherhood and family goddess both getting several powers through outside means [Sunblood through worship and getting the titles of various gods he helped overthrow and Isis through getting Ra's secret name/part of his soul that gave him most of his power.] Both are the head god outside of primordial gods and abstract ones. (Isis is the goddess of the cosmos in some tales and Sunblood is second only to the abstract god of space and primordial goddess of the void.) Plus unlike other head gods both are good and caring deities

Mai VS The Jade Emperor 'the fallen Angel who rebelled against heaven's gods for the sake of her sisters' Children vs the god who rules over the gods and mortals with an iron fist poorly painted Jade green'

Garou vs Zagryus 'the human monster who fought for underdogs everywhere while misguided till his final moments vs the god before being accepted by Greece he was originally the terrifying god of rebirth and madness who was taking in the outcasts and who's worshipers were the margalined people of Greece [slaves women and non citizens]'

Naruko vs Daji 'both foxy vixens but the difference is one accidentally made a harem of lovely and skilled people she genuinely cares for vs the empress destroying temptress who takes men as her slaves or die by her hand.'

Pico vs Hou Yi 'the mercenary solider who became the world's strongest sharpshooter/gunman who was wrongly portrayed as a villain for too long who eventually loved a Angel and a demon gaining pseudo-immortality vs the devine archer who was exiled from heaven for doing something he was ordered to do and was sent to earth as a mortal who eventually obtained a elixir of immortality that could've given him regular immortality with him unable to gain it and growing to enjoying mortal life.' [bonus both were betrayed which ended in their deaths in my AU Pico was betrayed and killed by his greedy friends and his employers who wanted him to assassinated his partners [gf's dad wanted bf dead and bf's dad wanted gf dead and his friends killed him after blowing off a hand and cutting out an eye before he got killed by them a year later while Hou depending on the myth had his wife selfishly down the elixir and become a goddess only to find out she's still exiled with him getting killed by an apprentice later or the more preferred ending neither he nor her took the elixir and his apprentice finds out about tries to steal it only for Hou's wife Chang'E to down it to stop him from becoming an immortal and greedy god to which Hou Yi still dies a mortal but is STILL betrayed by his apprentice]

8 shows to get to know me!

1. What We Do In The Shadows. This show really does have it all. A queer vampire polycule. A couple that's been together for 300 years and is still in love. The absolute BEST will-they-won't-they on television bar none. Guillermo's character arc is the best growth I've seen in a character in some time. It's hella sexy at all times. Everyone is so perfectly flawed and complicated. This show has inspired me to write more fanfiction than any show ever has! Also it's HILARIOUS, and tragic.

2. Our Flag Means Death. This is the sweetest purest love story and reminds me that no matter what you hate about yourself, or what others hate about you, there is someone out there who will love you for all those things! The representation is off the charts in this show and my love for every single babygirl member of the crew is immense. The only downside in the fandom is the discourse about Izzy. Like seriously, just let him be a part of the narrative. He's fun to hate and he's fun to play with in crack fic/art.

3. Doctor Who. This show will always and forever pretty much be my religion. The messages of love and intelligence over brute force and cynicism are so great. And the message that every single soul in the universe MATTERS and is important and unique and beautiful. And these messages are delivered through a gender fluid intergalactic nerdy tour guide with an infectious sense of WONDER for everything who takes you through time and space battling fascism and capitalism in a mess of camp effects and plot holes. I have seen all the classic and new series and I'm working my way through the Big Finish audios and EDA books.

4. The X-Files. Probably one of the best shows the small screen has ever seen. It's scary, it's suspenseful, it's funny, it's romantic, it's smart. It has simultaneously the longest non-sexual, emotionally intimate marriage AND the ultimate sexual slowburn. I could (and have) watch every episode a million times and enjoy them just as much every time.

5. Star Trek. I love every iteration of Star Trek, but The Original Series is my absolute favorite. It just gives me so much hope for the future. That someday, after all the human race's growing pains, after all the war and the racism, sexism, and homo/transphobia, after the greed and the poverty and pollution, we'll LEARN. We can be better. We'll explore and we won't explore to conquer or assimilate; we'll explore to learn about life and it's complexities and become even better versions of ourselves. And the friendship and sense of family on the Enterprise is just so beautiful. Also Kirk/Spock are the best definition of soulmates I've ever seen. The alien cultures within the world of Star Trek are just so well built and thought out (much better than in Star Wars). As an anthropology major, this FACINATES me.

6. Good Omens. The longest truest love story you have ever seen and one of the only (alleged) representations of romantic asexuality I have ever seen. Aziraphale and Crowley, an angel that doesn't fit in in heaven and a demon that doesn't fit in in hell but they fit with EACH OTHER and they love earth so dearly. It's humanism vs. religion and we win.

7. BBC Ghosts. I'm a sucker for the found family trope and this show does it so well. They're FORCED to become found family because there is literally no way for them to leave. All the ghosts are such nuanced (and autistic) characters and Mike is the best husband. He's so supportive of his wife and her crazy ghosts. BTW the U.S. version can go suck eggs in hell.

8. Willow. A return to the fun fantasy genre and the power of love and friendship that doesn't take itself too seriously. It's also a sapphic's dream! A demi-masc princess and her lady knight in a love story that kiss in the very fist episode? YES PLEASE! And Elora may be the chosen one but she sure does suck at it at first, and I LOVE that about her! The chosen one shouldn't be a perfect magic user, they should need to learn like anyone else. And THRAXUS BOORMAN!!!! Witty, slutty, leggy, longhaired, bisexual scoundrel who deserves to be in every single fucking scene! BUT RIGHT NOW IT'S ON THE KNIFES EDGE OF CANCELLATION SO GO SUPPORT IT ON DISNEY+ RIGHT NOW!

post - canon headcanons because everyone is being funny today

to preface; it's. . . complicated about whether or not the konan vs obito fight goes down. it quite literally depends on the verse, with either gem or sage's obito. i think it's safe to say as a default, that if it does happen, she is wounded (stabbed with the broken pipe, namely) and left for dead, but obito can't quite bring himself to kill her. she recovers, albeit she forces that recovery to process faster via usage of smuggled military ration pills, which was an extremely dangerous decision. had it gone wrong, she could've entered cardiac arrest. she's very lucky to be alive, but it is not without damage. in addition to the obvious physical scars, post - war konan cannot overexert herself or even risk masive depletion of her chakra storages. where others may suffer extreme fatigue, it will undoubtedly kill her. (again, verse dependant hc)

having allied with the five kages with the proposition of 'enemy of my enemy is my friend' & 'you don't have a choice; you need me', konan has since begrudgingly earned their trust and restored amegakure's good graces with the other villages. not that she particularly cares, as she still harbors resentment to them, especially konoha and iwagakure. but, it's necessary.

konan is the leader of amegakure, her title as lady angel remains the same. she works tirelessly to rebuild her nation from the ground up. in the initial aftermath of the war, many of the other larger villages make proclamations promising to help & offer reparations, claiming it's a new beginning. many of these promises fall through, with some of the kages' support and communication efforts dwindling on their part before ghosting entirely. sadly, konan more or less expected this.

to focus on the rebuilding and betterment of her village, konan makes the drastic decision to actually dismantle the shinobi system within, such as the ridding of the literal child soldier academies. amegakure also withdraws all participation from the chunin exams because of this, a controversial choice which earns ire and suspicion from the other kages. they worry that ame is turning isolationist and 'plotting something' again. it's bullshit. again, konan expected that reaction.

if there are any akatsuki members still alive, they are welcomed to take refuge in ame, since it's unlikely their home villages will receive them. the nature of konan's relationship with them depends on the individiual. but she likes to think of this offer as the start of an apology of sorts, depending on how this member was (forcibly) recruited. but she will not hesitate to throw them out if they prove to be troublesome and threaten the ame citizens.

she suffers from survivor's guilt immensely. she also feels guilt for her participation in jiraiya's death, as she really did view him as a father figure at one point in her life. (note: my take on jiraiya & the ame orphans is more complex than what unfolded in canon; he did not purposely abandon them, to start) how does she cope? she. . . doesn't. she throws herself into distractions via work and hopes for the best!

one would think that, without nagato around anymore and prioritizing his care over her own, that konan would adapt. she does not. she continues to put others before herself and neglect herself at times, often forgetting to eat or depriving herself of sleep just because there is so much to be done. dizzy spells, headaches, or even blacking out from exhaustion at her desk are common occurences.

do not. under any circumstances. bring up nagato / the past in a means of criticizing him to her. it does not matter if your point is correct, it does not matter if at one point in this time is something she might've hotly debated with nagato when he was alive. she will always love her dearest friend and mourn that he lived a miserable life (and had to suffer a second time via edo tensei) and believes he did the best that he could when dealt with a terrible hand by life itself.

When I say I was screaming and yelling during the episode, I mean I was LITERALLY screaming and yelling

I didn’t know what those creepy noises were at first and I was sat here absolutely TERRIFIED because it was creepy as fuck. Then I realized it was cliff ghasts because they said something that I recognized from the book and I was like “oh shit”

Pan and Will talking is the sweetest omg

The fact that Pan told him that Lyra thinks he’s as brave as King Iorek Byrnison :’)

“She’s the best friend I’ve ever had” “You’re her best friend too” - STOP, MY HEART

Lyra was awake and heard the whole conversation :3

Also I love the detail of Marisa getting onto her hands and knees, sort of crouching and mirroring the monkey’s body language. I just love the parallel

The way the monkey flinched from her when she went to touch him omg :( No dæmon should be THIS afraid of their person (or at all?!?!)

Honestly, I find this series’ portrayal of Marisa fascinating tbh

“We have to do whatever it takes to keep her safe” - Umm, like maybe drugging her and hiding her in a cave for months? 🤔

Also in case I didn’t say this before, the fact she has complete control of the Spectres is fucking scary and always has been from the very first time I read the books

Okay so Lee is fully aware that he’s going to die if he stays behind but he does it because he knows that it’s the best chance of making sure that Lyra ends up under the knife’s protection (because Jopari will find her). All Lee wants is for Lyra to be safe and that hurts my heart so much, he loves this child so much :’(

“I love that little girl like a daughter” - LEE STOP MY HEART IS ALREADY BREAKING AS IT IS

NO NO NO NO I AM NOT AND NEVER WILL BE READY

I literally struggled to watch Lee’s final scenes. I literally didn’t want to watch it because I cried reading it in the book, and I knew I’d be the same here

The fact that Lee HATES taking away people’s lives but he says “it’s theirs or Lyra’s”... I love him. He loves her so much.

I’m not really surprised that those Spectres killed the witch who was supposed to be guarding Lyra and Will tbh like that’s what happens when only ONE witch guards two teenagers and that witch falls asleep

The way that Lyra panicked when she woke up and saw her mother stroking her cheek omg

Off topic but I’ve only just realized that Jopari has a fucking man-bun LMFAO OKAY

The fact that Jopari tried to get back to Will and Elaine but couldn’t will always hurt me

So John tells Will that he has to go to Asriel and bring him the knife, and he tells him all about the war that’s coming and I have LITERAL chills because I’m so ready

“Look what you’ve become without me” - Oh my god, just when I thought I wasn’t going to cry again

JOPARI HUGGING WILL, SEEING THE SOLDIER AIMING, AND THEN PUTTING HIMSELF BETWEEN THEM SO HE TOOK THE BULLET INSTEAD OF WILL ASDFGHJKL;

So in the book, Jopari is killed by a scorned witch who had once asked him to be her lover, but he had turned her down (because of Elaine and Will obviously), and she kills Jopari in front of Will and then he kills her (I think?). But here it’s just a soldier leftover from the Lee vs Magisterium fight, so... yeah. Kind of a little peeved about the change personally but whatever I guess.

“The night is full of angels, they will guide you now” - AHHHHH

Also, might just be me, but maybe that line would have been slightly more impactful if the scene had taken place at night

This show really said “fuck healthy parental figures” I guess

Except Will’s mum, she’s the best and if anything were to happen to her we’d all riot

SAYAN KÖTÖR FADING AWAY NOOOO I HATE SEEING DÆMONS DIE

Okay, last little gripe, but I just wanted to say that in the book, Will doesn’t realize it’s his dad until literally the last second before his dad dies - like they both realize and then BAM, Jopari is killed. And while I do love the father-son reunion, I am kind of annoyed by the change because it was such a huge punch in the gut in the book that Will searches for so long for his dad, only to lose him the second he finds him.

Serafina finding Lee’s body and kissing his forehead was yet another punch in the gut, thanks Pullman/BBC/BadWolf

The fact that Will had to bury his dad :(

Also, WILL WEARING JOPARI’S JACKET OH MY GOD MY HEART

So the narration, when it started I thought it was Jopari at first, like from one of his letters... but then as it continued, I went “hang on”, and then I said outloud “wait, is that ASRIEL?!”

DID MARISA REALLY PUT LYRA IN A FUCKING TRUNK?!? BITCH ARE YOU OKAY?!?

Will putting his hood up like his dad did just hits differently

For anyone unaware, the reason I’m screaming so loud over the post-credits scene is because in TAS, while Lyra is drugged and in a groggy sleep, she has these visions of Roger talking to her from the Land of the Dead, which then later leads to her and Will actually GOING to the Land of the Dead and... well, the rest is even HUGER spoilers but YEAH I’M NOT OKAY.

Honestly, I’m just so happy and emotional because I’ve been waiting over a decade for a decent adaptation of not only NL but for TSK and TAS too, and we’re 2/3 there now. Just one more book/series to go... I wish we could have it now. I really hope that filming for the final one starts ASAP because if we have to wait two years just to see the conclusion to this series, I might cry.

This series is so amazing, and this season especially has been so incredible to watch. It’s been the highlight of my week for seven weeks, and I have no idea what I’ll do with my Sundays now that it’s over. I’ve asked for the DVD for S2 for my birthday already (since it comes out 29th December and my birthday is 13th January... just saying), and words can’t describe how much I do love this series. I know it sounds hollow since I say it about so many things I’m into, but this was such a huge part of my childhood and it’s one of my favourite fantasy series of all time. It’s truly one of the most incredible pieces of literature and now it’s making for incredible television... I love it so much.

SO I am a really big Adventure Time fan and I made a decision for all the people in my life who wanted to watch the show but didn’t want to watch unnecessary episodes: to create a watch guide.

Surprisingly whenever I talked about it, a lot of people were interested.

Snow Day with the Akatsuki

Deidara Although at first he tries to act like he’s above being excited, in truth, this guy is salivating from all three mouths to get outside and play in the snow. He’s a bit of a freeze-baby though, so he’ll put on a heavy coat, no less than 5 pairs of socks, gloves AND mittens, boots, a thousand scarves and look like a tick ready to burst. Once he is outside, it’ll be ridiculously hard to get him to come back in. He creates what must be hundreds of snow men and women; ALL of which will explode like soldiers stepping in the wrong spot on a minefield. He’ll throw himself down a steep hill on a sled more times than seems feasible. At some point will convince the others who dared venture outside into an all-out snowball fight war, complete with teams, safety fortresses, and even more strategic effort than they use on their actual missions. Kakuzu Nope. Nu-uh. You couldn’t convince the old guy to come out in the snow EVEN IF YOU PAID HIM. But a snow day means a break from traveling and doing missions, which is nice. He’ll spend the day in a warm sweater, drinking coffee or cocoa and catching up on his reading ((the Bingo Book counts as reading)). Will constantly have to yell at the ones who run in and out of the house all day, as opening the door lets out the heat, and dammit, coal is expensive. Will also have to be on constant guard against Hidan, as the immortal jerk will undoubtedly try (several times) to sneak up behind Kakuzu to drop a handful of the cold wet stuff down his back. Itachi Doesn’t want to do anything other than sit in his room under a blanket, at first. But eventually Hidan, Kisame and freakin’ Deidara burst into his room and convince him to come out and “Have some damn fun once in a while, hm!” Stands for a long time and waxes poetic about the beauty of the snow, and how winter represents coldness and death and — but then someone ((Deidara)) throws a snowball at his face, he sees it coming with his sharingan and dodges it, and fairly quickly he becomes just another big kid playing in the snow. Has a thing for making snow angels, and will spend literal hours trying to create the “perfect” one ((think: Itachi vs the Eggs)). Also cracks the first “joke” that anyone’s ever heard come out of him: he tells Kisame that he should go inside and warm up a bit, because he’s so cold he’s ‘turning blue’. Tobi Tobi is, unexpectedly, a bit leery of the snow. Almost seems like it scares him, in a way. Turns out that any kind of extreme coldness puts Obito’s mind back to when he got Crushed by the Boulder ™️, and how cold his entire body felt as he almost slipped into death. But as Tobi, he tries hard not to show this and forces himself to join the others. Keeps mostly to himself until Deidara finds him and recruits him to be a member of his team in The Great Snowball Wars ™️. Nobody can figure out why it seems like even direct hits to the masked man just seem to be going right through him. After he’s had enough, he’ll go inside and “help” Konan make hot chocolate and sweet tea for the others. Pein Doesn’t go outside himself, naturally. But will watch from an unseen vantage point, as his “children” frolic in the shining white powder. Seeing this gives Nagato a strange feeling in what used to be his heart. All members of the Akatsuki had been put there for a purpose, HIS purpose; to achieve world peace. But the blood and sacrifices these individuals had to make were tremendous, and he knows that everybody is under more stress than seems endurable. Seeing them being able to drop their burdens once in a great while and spend time with one another in non-threatening situations is heartening. But at the same time, he doesn’t want the team to get TOO relaxed or lose their battle instincts, so will send the multiple Pein bodies outside to act as the opposing team in the snowball fight, to test how everyone works together as a single unit against an ‘enemy’. Hidan Even with the snow, even in the freezing cold, Hidan is too much of an idiot to put on a shirt. He’ll wear his Akatsuki robe but that’s really it. Extreme cold

is just another way for him to test the “limits” of his immortality; can frostbite or hypothermia kill this guy? Will wander off from the others for a few hours and go searching for a sacrifice; he just knows that the way the blood will look on the snow will be beautiful. He’ll come back just in time to join a team (or work alone) for a snowball fight — or a snowman building contest — or an igloo building contest ((honestly Hidan considers EVERYTHING to be a contest; he’s highly competitive)). If Konan ventures outside, he’ll gravitate to her and make immature (but expected) commentary about what the cold is doing to her, er, pointy frontal region; quite a few slaps to the face, and not all from the blue-haired beauty.

Sasori

Doesn’t feel heat or cold in his body, so being outside really doesn’t appeal much to him. However, winter weather is a good opportunity for him to test out some of his newer puppet’s battle capabilities, as well as study the effects of how external temperature impacts the potency of his poisons. Will also be keeping an eye on his young partner, and checking to make sure that the blonde’s enthusiasm for being in the snow isn’t blinding him towards possible hypothermia.

Konan

This little lady isn’t the biggest fan of the cold, so much of her day will be spend indoors, making treats and hot drinks for the others. If she does venture outside, she’ll use her papers to create wings for herself, and fly around the area to observe the beauty of the snowy landscape from above. The others will stare at her in awe and admiration; she makes the ultimate “snow angel”. Might be persuaded to partake in sledding, or building a snowman, if she’s in the right mood.

Zetsu

Zetsu is strictly a warm sunshine kind of plant/person, so the snow and the cold hold no appeal for him whatsoever. He’ll stay inside all day under every spare blanket he can find, as well as a heating lamp (which Kakuzu will complain about, as anything that uses up energy like that is probably costing them money). If winter weather lasts for a long time, will become somewhat animal-like as he goes into “hibernation” mode; eating a lot and sleeping a ton. Also, in the cold weather, the small animals that he tends to feast on are harder to find, so his fellow Akatsuki members would be wise to stay out of his sight (and range of smell) during his more hungry periods.

Kisame

Being half-shark, his body is more suited than the others to withstand the cold. Snow is fascinating to him, and he’ll spend a long time just picking up handfuls, feeling them, studying their texture and consistency. The younger ones (Deidara and Hidan) introduce him to the concept of sledding; which he finds a bit pointless ((he’s so tall that his legs stick out of the sled anyway, so he never really goes that fast)) but interesting. Also likes to watch Itachi, as the man makes some surprisingly beautiful snow sculptures ((before they’re inevitably blown up by Deidara, anyway)). If they come across a pond, Kisame will strip down, break through the ice and jump in to swim, much to the horror of the others. Hidan will see Kisame swimming in the freezing water as him ‘showing off’, declare that he can do it too, jump in ... and sink like a brick. Kisame will have to dive deep to pull him out, which Hidan will complain about, saying he was ‘Just warming up, you stupid fucks!” Kisame finds that his multiple water jutsus also work with the snow, making him one of the more fierce opponents during snowball fights.
