My Favorite Moment With: Lady Luna/Lady Selene

I spent most of 2020 grappling with my spirituality and questioning if I was going crazy. Apollo, Hermes, and Dionysus had reached out to me, and I was unsure of where I was supposed to go from there. In 2021 I had a major depressive episode (bipolar 2 gang rise up!) and fell into a spiritual rut. I was convinced every deity had left me or I had made it all up. 

On the night of a full moon, I was especially upset with my life. I was stuck and lost and grappling with suicidality, so I got in my car and drove. I ended up in a small town I once lived in and had grown to hate. I cursed every tail-gating truck that blinded my rearview with their LEDS and tried to figure out why I drove there in the first place.

 Being in rural Maine, nothing was open at 8 p.m. beside the grocery store. I wandered the overpriced aisles, not hungry but looking for a purpose for my presence. I settled on a chocolate milk sold to me by an unenthused teen. 

I sat in my car smoking a cigarette - a habit I swore to myself I wouldn’t keep - and looking at the night sky. The one upside to the shitty town was the lack of light pollution that allowed stars to shine brightly. And the moon - it practically lit up the parking lot. I snuffed out the rest of the cigarette in the door cupholder; it was an old car on its last owner anyway and the mark would only add to its charm. I started my drive home, cursing myself for not finding the meaning of life in a grocery store cooler. 

The static of the radio couldn’t drown out my misery so I turned it off. The moon lit up the empty road, which I was grateful for since there wasn’t a streetlamp in sight. My eyes fixated on the moon as if it were my guiding star. I thought about the people that came before me, looking up at the same moon and pouring their beliefs into it. I began to beg,

“Please, if you’re out there answer me. I don’t care what religion you’re a part of, I just need something. If you’re out there, give me a reason to live.”

A timer didn’t go off. My phone didn’t ring. A bright light didn’t engulf me and take me to the ether. I figured my last-ditch effort didn’t work. I drove home in silence. 

It wasn’t until I got home and threw myself into bed without ever turning on the lights. It wasn’t quite a voice, but an idea that was planted in my head.

“Lady Luna.”

I didn’t immediately know what deity this was and was vaguely confused as to why a Spanish-speaking deity would reach out to me. But I laid down to sleep, telling myself I’d do my research in the morning. I’m not sure why Lady Luna reached out to me in Her Roman form; to this day she is the only deity I address by Her Roman name, though I use Lady Selene interchangeably now.

And that’s my favorite moment with Lady Luna.

Shadow of the Moon

The sixth born. Hiding a form that changes with her mood, she can be as calm or as fierce as the ocean itself. Her cascading white hair can turn pitch black when she’s angered and the Kelpie mask she wears can leave one deeply unsettled. She is Lady Luna.

First attempt at Lady Luna for @crabas-lordes ! I like the pose but I wasn't super happy with the tiara/head dress when I drew this one.

If you and kit-williams are saying the Imperial Fists are closet freaks because of Dorn and his pain glove (of which I agree) Then it's only fair to say that the Luna Wolves inherit their primarch's unhinged and uncontrollable breeding kink.

going into the Luna Wolves barracks to clean and coming out bowlegged and hella bruised. But in the good way. In the 'i got railed within three inches of my life and got the creampie to end all creampies' way.

This is the second "The kids inherited Horus's breeding kink" post of the night and I'm so fucking on board for it.

You know that poor serf you subjected to a gaggle of curious space wolves? They left with a new understanding of female biology and she left with a need for Plan B. That night she learned that inches are indeed better than centimeters.
