My (super low effort) entry for @sketchbookweek Day 2 - Past/Future

You know, if I were smarter, this would be a commentary on how canon leads us to believe that both Johanna and Kaisa’s childhoods were filled with loneliness, and how they wouldn’t want their children to experience that, and how having a bigger family would bring them both so much closure. But I’m not. So instead this is actually just me showing off my brilliant mutuals’ OCs. Look at them. Look at them this instant

Some little facts i want to point out uhh:

-I gave Trudy grey hairs near her fringe from the stress (also i love how everyone draws her mildly ready to snap-i do it too lmao)

-Kelsey’s hair is brown at the ends but she’s greying ofc also since she’s 49 i don’t think she would have a full head of grey hair

-I also gave her pants cuz in my design a skirt didn’t suit her for some reason apologies/lh

-Frances has acne!! not that noticable tho I did realise that after i finished drawing him oops

-There are scars on Tony’s face from his time in ww2

GUYYYYYYYYYYYYS i need nonfiction book recs about polar exploration. i want biographies i want i want north i want south i want literally whatever as long as it's non fiction and its related to polar exploration.

I already have May We Be Spared To Meet On Earth, James Fitzjames: The Mystery Man of the Franklin Expedition, and Francis Crozier: Last Man Standing? on my to read list but if there are other primary source books or biographies of these two i want to know about those but also i want anything and everything about polar exploration. ANYTHING.

regarding oceangate, i do want them to survive a little bit just for them to absolutely sue the shit out of the owner, i want the greedy people to fight to death on my tv screen, telling us about the horrors they had to endure, finally doing something for the public by entertaining us. turning from kings to jesters.

Sometimes I get so soft because I firmly believe that even without taking into consideration the games Katniss and Peeta ended up in a home better than the ones they grew up in. Peeta helps take the responsibility off of her and makes her smile! Katniss is safer and more caring towards Peeta even when she’s grumpy! I really do love the “I know this would’ve happened anyway” because I do really believe they give each other something nobody else can. This may be the shipper goggles but they seemed more like best friends to me than any other relationship in the books.

it is so lovely to think of them giving each other the life that they deserve.

i’m firmly with you that peeta takes the burden off of katniss in terms of being responsible for her family’s survival. i’ve spoken about this before but it would be so healing for her to not have that constant weight on her shoulders, worrying where the next meal on the table is going to come from. knowing that there’s no pressure to bring in a haul from the woods, or to make good trades in the hob. their fridge is always stocked, and they can buy whatever they need when they need it.

likewise, katniss gets to give peeta all the love that he didn’t have growing up. she shows it in a million different ways, cutting his hair for him and waiting up for him at night when he wants to paint out all of his bad thoughts. even on her bad days, she never makes him feel unwanted or shut out. even if she can’t speak, she’ll find other ways to remind him that she still loves him more than anything. he doesn’t need the constant reassurances, he’s a big boy after all, but it is nice.

also sometimes i just think about the “i know this would have happened anyway” thing and short circuit because… miss katniss girl…. that is so much packed into a teeny tiny little statement. like, she knows she would’ve ended up with peeta. it feels like after everything she is finally admitting to herself, and to the reader what she’s (and we’ve) known for a long time. on the point you made about them giving each other something no one else can, she pretty much says as much when she says only peeta can give her what she needs (which is lovely in itself, too).

Major blood loss -> body goes “EEK” and activates sympathetic nervous system (adrenaline, fight/flight response) -> adrenaline tells body to give up its hoarded blood sugar that it saves for a rainy day -> glucose (sugar) floods the blood stream so the body is ready to act because now it has energy :D

I could not NOT comment on everything i could point out, and once again the decision to make it so that we do not see venti’s face in his “mortal disguise” is such a MASTERFUL one, your art is absolutely stunning and i am fawning over it so much. your use of everything in general actually for this piece was such a hit out of the park. The wedding festival. The worst festival you could ever make it participate in. It is at its absolute fucking Worst here. It is So Fucking Mad.

I'm not exactly sure what I was doing with the outfit here LMFAOO I just thinking general Moe shapes... if I were to revisit this, maybe I'd play w a more distinctly masculine look. WHILE. Keeping those huge chunky heels. BECAUSE

The Idea here (though I did not perform it at all LMFAOO I couldn't resist giving Alfonse heels too....) but the IDEA HERE. Is the dreaded Heel Math. That, Moe is wearing heels tall enough, and Alfonse is wearing low enough/probably would have to be flats tbh for the two of them to actually be At Eye Level. Again. I did not do this here. But it was in my mind. And that's worth..... next to nothing. 👍
