Hello hi howdy I'm here to bother you about The Hug scene as I mentioned in the tags of your post sjfjsjd

There's so much I have to say and it's late here when I'm writing this out so I'm sorry if this makes no sense bUT look. When Oswald starts to make the proposal that he and Ed could take over Gotham together, he doesn't mean it !! He wants Gotham to himself and he sees Ed as collateral damage that he needs gone in order to get back on top. (Now you could say the same about Ed wanting Oswald gone for the same reason, but there's a lot going there with the timing of which he takes out his knife compared to when he actually switches the blade out, which could suggest that he had no original intent to harm Oswald until he suspected that was what Oswald's plan was when he offers the hug- which also makes me wonder if that hug for Ed was a way for him to see if he could really trust Oswald because he was expecting him to stab him, and when he didn't, he was relieved. It's really interesting, but I do think they both had plans to kill each other there for the same reasons [wanting power in Gotham again, and getting rid of the one thing that weakens them most: gay gay gayyyyyyy Love])

And so Oswald is trying to get close to Ed because he wants to kill him !!! He thinks that the only way he can get back on top is with Ed gone. So he says "please, we're bothers. A hug." Only so he can get close to Ed and kill him.

BUT LIKE. THAT DOESN'T MATTER !!!! Because the VERY MOMENT they hug, the second they remember what it feels like to be in each other's arms again, they can't do it. They can't hurt each other like that again. They need each other !! There is no Riddler without The Penguin ! And I literally forgot why I was writing this but that's it they are in love and they need each other. I'm gonna go cry about them again. Hope this all makes sense i made some points somewhere in there :')

oh. i think i see now, you're right, when edward does that little smile and brings oswald just a little bit closer to him — it feels like he's relieved oswald didn't actually go through with it? but. but at the same time, the granade? the "it's the least i could do"? are you kidding me, ed. oswald would never fucking kill you. shame on you for even thinking that 👀 why can't you guys see you'd be a power couple. together you'd be unstoppable you dumb bitches just RULE TOGETHER.
