I’ve recently discovered my best friend of 10+ years thought I loved Nico because he’s gay and so am I when its really the mental illness rep that I related to
This brings me to the problem of Nico being both the gay one and the mentally ill one. Because although I did know I was gay when I first started reading pjo I didn’t know Nico was.
So I was reading a story where a child sufferers from extreme stress that manifests in angry out bursts that hurt those around him and lead to him getting ostracized and then isolating himself— I saw myself in that. And I’m so glad that Nico gets therapy but it just—
Why is nico the only one?
I feel like all the half bloods have some kind of trauma. Whether it’s being abandoned by their parents, having an abuser who they literally kill in cold blood (can we talk about that? I feel like no one talks about that) or idk being on a boat for months in your feels about being single and feeling like you’re all alone and unlovable and then literally killing your self???
It’s a choice. Uncle Rick Why did you do this? You set Leo up to have this arch about self love without a partner and that was cool, then you made him take his own life (in a Disney Way, but still) and that was a dark turn but still cool. and then he fumbles
And by having Nico be the only one to get therapy I do fear that he’s perpetuating the stereotype of mental ill gays (Ik I am too but I’m not writing my story) lm less annoyed that he made his mentally ill character and more ticked by the missed opportunity to show that even seemingly happy people can be struggling and that ANYONE can be affected

I loved your wriritng so lm asking you something Ive asked another. How would your hero have reacted to their partner disappearing at the end of eos instead of themselves?
Thank you! I super appreciate it! To answer your question, Violet handles it differently, to say the least. Assuming in this twist of fate, she is in Leo's situation, where somehow she lives, and he disappears, she wouldn't jump immediately seek death like Leo does. She can handle her emotions enough not to do that, but that doesn't mean she is anywhere near ok.
So she just... stops. Stops thinking, working, and talking, and she completely goes blank. She does the bare minimum of existing and spends the rest of her time daydreaming, unable to handle any of it. Leo may have acted out more and had a worse meltdown, but Violet just mentally quits.
She completely secludes herself, refusing to speak to anyone and not listening, either. She actively avoids people who reach out to help her, leaving the guild as part of that. Without Leo, she feels completely lost in a world and body she shouldn't be in. Leo had answers, made her feel like she was supposed to be here, and with him gone, she's lost that.
She would also complete the job of telling people what happened, though in her own way, telling all who would listen of her partner's tragic tale. Of how he had sacrificed everything he had to help her. Of how kind and gentle he was and how cruel the world was for taking him.
He would be gone longer, as it would take her a long time to get desperate enough for his returns to start making prayers at shrines to the gods. The first one she would go to though is Dialga, giving everything she has left as an offering, including her life, just to bring Leo back.
Dialga refuses to take anything, though, telling her through the shrine to return to the beach they first met at and show him how much she wants him to be back. So she does. She goes to the beach and screams at the gods till her throat hurts and her vocal cords give out.
It works, of course. Her sobbing over him, how lost she was, and how glad she is that he was back. How she never wants to lose him again, and how much she loves and needs him.
She also wouldn't evolve after the story. She knows how long Ninetales can live, and if she can't handle a few months without him, she could never handle 900 years alone. So she just stays a Vulpix, refusing to ever take a firestone.
That's about it, though I will say I have thought about how she would handle it before. After all,
She does become a Ninetales in my stories :)

much to be said about the young women in war and peace who show an active desire to be in society (natasha, hélène, lise, and julie) and how the men of the novel and, by extension, tolstoy, value their worth. in all cases the fate of each woman is determined exactly by how entrenched she is in society. andrei loved lise until she "joined society" and then he abandons her and rips her away from what made her happy. julie abandons her only true friend, marya, and ends up in a marriage where everyone can tell her husband doesn't love her except for herself. we don't even need to talk about the fate tolstoy thought hélène deserved. all of natasha's hardships happen as a result of her being enticed by that life, but she's spared once she retreats back into the safety of family and tradition
it's not some sort of groundbreaking statement to point out tolstoy's opinion of russian high society nor his opinion of women, really, but it's just interesting to look this idea of how the women are treated narratively in that regard. the madonna/whore complex is so rampant in this book, it's insane.
some examples,
volume i, part one, vi.
and then, in volume ii, part one, ix.
it's devastating. lise truly never did anything to hurt anyone and narratively she's punished solely for the fact that andrei doesn't like her anymore. she becomes just a fridged woman for andrei to mourn and compare natasha to when she stumbles into society
volume ii, part five, ii.
there's an uncomfortable read to how this shows the perceived difference between julie, someone who allows herself to enjoy society, and marya, someone who hates moscow and is therefore seen as superior to julie. julie appears relatively little, but in each circumstance it's to highlight a "wrong" sort of woman compared to a "right" sort, even in the beginning when sonya sees her with nikolai
and speaking of sonya, let's get into the absolute blatant mess of dolokhov's stance on women and their morals 🧍♀️
from the original version, part three, xxiv.
this is right before his proposal to sonya. sonya, who is someone far outside society at this point (and is also, notably, a child...), especially in comparison to hélène, who he blames her inability to love him on her "impurity." tolstoy didn't hold back with dolokhov and his clear-cut madonna/whore complex. there are the madonnas, the women in his family and a young girl who has never been around anyone but her family, and every other woman is a whore
(this excerpt also leads into a lot of my thoughts about the dynamic between hélène and dolokhov and my conspiracy theory that their "Affair" was nowhere near what it was made out to be, but that's a post for another day)
this all brings us to natasha
volume ii, part five, xix.
pierre's opinion of women, like tolstoy's, deals in extremes. the second natasha is no longer an innocent child, she's a "vile woman," just like how he views hélène
i think i'll end by airing out some frustration about how fans of the men of war and peace excuse these ideologies rather than denouncing them? i'd rather see a fan of them talk about their complicated feelings about women rather than go "haha its because he likes boys" because as real as that is, that feels like the weirdest copout in the face of just ....... misogyny. like i think they're gay too but that's not an excuse to ignore their women hating LMAO it just seems like it would be more interesting to dissect that and make for a good character study
that's a lot of the fun in being a fan of this book today, the opportunity to give life and analyze a character in a way that the author never would have. we can look at his flaws and make something better out of them! death of the author babey it's our city now!!! anyways these women deserve so much better, but that comes at absolutely no surprise

First off, sorry for answering so late but college has been killing me these days🤕
About you liking ateez because of their music and not their personalities first: HONESTLY, SAME. I think they're the first kpop group that I like because of their music, performances and the like first. Idk, I guess they're so talented... and with kingdom they just proved that. I was so amazed by how they took the stage every single time. This may sound a bit cliche but they inspire me to become an idol too😂 maybe not in the kpop industry, but in the music industry in general. I'm currently not studying any dance major or music major but I might do it next year since I've been thinking about it before stanning ateez, but after stanning them? They really make you wanna kill it on stage like they do. Their energy is amazing. Idk how to put it into words but... wow😂 they're THAT talented. They inspire me so so much.
So actually, I got into ateez because I saw on Twitter (those dark days I was still on tt. I'm not there anymore though, too many toxic people🙂) that a lot and when I mean a lot I mean A LOT of people where talking about them the whole time. And at first, to be honest😅 I thought, ah, I'm sure they're hyped because they're from a big company or something, I'm sure they're not that great🙄 (bold of me to assume that because they're not but anyways😂😂) AND THEN, I watched answer's mv because they were having that comeback at that time, and I was SHOCKED because the mv was so breathtakingly beautiful, the song was amazing, they all looked so good, so powerful and I thought: wow, i get what they mean now. Then I went to listen to all of their albums and wow... not a song that I didn't like. After that I found out they were the only group in kq and that the company was a small one and I was like🤡🤡🤡🤡 never judging anyone ever again lmaooo. So that's really how I got into the fandom😂😂😂 what about you?
And yes!!!! I was very excited for this cb and it's finally out!!!!🥳🥳🥳🥳🙌🏻🙌🏻 Have you watched the mv already? I'm not gonna say anything about it because I want you to watch it first and then tell me👀 hehe - uwu friend
Also, can I say I love your blog😂😂😂😂 @leo-culture-technology is right about your asks😂😂😂😂😂 you're so chaotic (in a good way😊), I love it😂😂😂😂😂 - uwu friend
BRO YES ATEEZ is just super unique in that they have that star factor: explosive stage presence and ability to tell a story (A lot of the industry just lacks this), skills and talents that they are always improving, a SERIOUSLY humble attitude, and a unique discography that mostly consists of BATTLE ANTHEMS, motivational BANGERS, and introspective BOPS.
The way I got into ATEEZ was similar. I was coming off of my most recent idol group binge and was ready to open up my horizon. I watched Wonderland MV because it had just dropped like a few days prior, and I LOVEEEEED IT!!!!!! Started hard stanning and never looked back. ATEEZ inspired me to start my own business ^-^ so that's awesome that they are inspiring you to pursue music and dance!!!
I actually heard Treasure when it first came out and I rly liked it and always listened to it. Didn't realize ATEEZ had already touched my life lmfao sometimes I wonder why I didn't start stanning then, but I guess I just wasn't ready and/or in the right headspace in my life to be open to the opportunities, growth, and motivation that would come to me through ATEEZ's music.
THIS COMEBACK IS JUST FUCKING IT!!!!! The past few years (ever since Fever pt.1 actually) I felt a sort of disconnect with ATEEZ's music and they felt off to me, but this is confirmation that they are STILL HERE and they are STILL THE SAME ATEEZ and they made a super tasteful diss track that's very respectful in saying "ALL YOU BULLIES GET OUT OF MY WAY, CAUSE I AM REALLY TICKED OFF!!!!!!"
And it's not even a diss track, diss tracks are fucking stupid and immature and like "u suck lol i am the best u are a nerd" (I hate diss tracks lmfao) ATEEZ IS JUST OUT HERE SAYING,
SAY WHAT YOU WANT BRO WE ARE GONNA STAY HUMBLE, KIND, AND HARDWORKING AND OUR RESULTS WILL SPEAK FOR US
aLSO I'm SO happy we got the studio versions of the kingdom songs. SO fucking happy. Look, every group that went on that show was talented in their own right and there were some amazing stages, but I really wished they had professional judges pick the winner bc making it a popularity contest after ALL THAT TRAUMA THE FANDOMS WENT THROUGH was such a dick move mnet is an asshole.
I just am so happy, and every day I know I stan the right group for myself. They truly inspire me to be better and strive for my goals.
ALSO LO0L thank you uwuwuwuwuw I like having a place to unleash my weird-ass thoughts bc lort knows I can't always do it irl

Just had to explain cocomelon to leo’s mom who is also a 3rd grade teacher
Leo’s mom: (asking her on and off bf who idk if she’s dating rn) what’s cocomelon?
Me: (from the other room) OH GOD COCOMELON
LM: is it appropriate for 8yos? My kids keep talking about it in class
Me: well yes but it’s intended for infants lmao *shows her the channel*
LM: ooohhhh ok bc this one girl kept calling herself a “a cocomelon baddie”
Me: yeah I don’t think that’s a thing
-but then we looked it up-
Me: oh god it’s a roblox-TikTok-cocomelon-cringe-meme and a child didn’t realize it was a joke

Immortal husband head canon #2
This one is a bit silly and involves a historical figure but I couldn’t stop laughing about it so just indulge me for a moment.
Nicky can draw but it’s a skill he rarely uses because it triggers joe.
Hear me out….
Let’s say Nicky and Nile are talking. They are trying to remember what some person looks like ( either for a mission or whatever) Nicky quickly sketches them. Nile is super impressed
“Wow Nicky I didn’t know you could draw that’s amazing ”
“ oh thank you I had a wonderful mentor”
Joe instantly reacts.
“ oh so now he’s wonderful…. Really Nicolo.. REALLY? “
Nicky just sighs
“ mi amore….love of my life you can’t get like this every time he’s mentioned “
Joe is fuming and Nicky has to physically calm him.
“ love…. Leo was just a mentor you know this”
Nile is hella confused and invested.
“ Leo?....”
Andy pops in laughing
“ His mentor was di Vinci and he had a thing for Nicky. Joe had some competition for Nicky’s attention back in the day”
“ Wait you guys knew Leonardo di Vinci!”
Can you guys imagine Nicky knowing some of histories famous artist just because he wanted to learn more about the craft that Joe absolutely loves. Instead Joe gets jealous cause Nicky doesn’t understand how these men see him as their muse and want him to themselves.
Especially my boy Leo. I once read somewhere that Leo liked to surround himself with young beautiful men and lm like Nicky is definitely his type.

Okay, so I REALLY associate you with Leo Valdez. It might just be because of your ace!Leo hcs, but the nd latine energy is also a factor. Ah, I also associate you with Christopher Lightwood, but I'm not sure why?? I haven't read the entirety of Choi tho, so I can be very wrong. You also have big Kit Herondale vibes, and, even tho we don't know a lot about Jaime, I feel like maybe him too?? And a little bit of Emma (or at least the Emma we saw in LM, not the oh-julian-why-julian Emma we saw in the other two books).
Yeah, it's mostly because you seem really chatty and friendly (online at least, I'm not sure how you are irl). You seem full of love to give and experiences to share and SO MUCH ENERGY and creativity. It always dazzles me how you're able to be friends with so many people on tumblr and react to everything with so much care and appreciation. Any character that reflects that will be a character I associate you with❤
Anon, I have actual tears in my eyes after reading that and I wish i was joking. You've made me happy pace with a computer in my arms all through my room and that's no small feet this is a heavy computer and im not very big. I cannot actually express how much i appreciate this so I hope youre getting my overwhelming appreciation because COULD I EVEN ASK FOR A BETTER COMPLEMENT THAN ALL THIS???
JAJA LEO IS ACTUALLY SO ACCURATE. Leo Valdez was the first character I read i could see myself entirely in, which scared the crap out of me. Nd latine energy bckjbfkgfk ACE LEO THEORY STILL STANDS. Dont worry anon one day I'll reread hoo and make an entire ace leo post do not worry
Christopher is actually my favorite tlh besides Alastair SO THATS SUCH A WIN FOR ME AND DONT WORRY
chog christopher is pretty much choi christopher and i love this comparison
yes i do enjoy info dumping and making chaotic choices
KIT HERONDALE
I have a fun story for that my friend was reading tda and when she got to the kit pov about kits list of grivances against shadowhunters she texted me like "omg zia is this you?"
Then did that again with the line where he rebelled against shadowhunters eating a cookie
So both you her and i agree SO THATS ACCURATE
I HAD NEVER HEARD EMMA OR JAIME BUT IM SO FLATTERED
we never saw much of jaime but i loved his energy so I agree to this
LM MIDNIGHT EMMA MY BELOVED
I am extremly chatty in real life, like my nikname irl is parrot becase im said to talk as much as one. EVERYTHING ELSE IS JUST SO NICE HOLD ON I NEED TO CRY AGAIN-
Thank you so much anon, truly ily
Send me characters you associate with me

Dusted’s Decade Picks: The Lists
Protomartyr, who appear on at least three of these lists.
Of course, those picks from earlier today didn’t just manifest out of thin air; most (if not necessarily all) of us wound up coming up with some sort of decade-end list in the process of picking an album or two to ruminate upon, and a few that didn’t have specific pieces on singular works still had a little something to say about the decade just now passing away. Below the cut, then, is a more expansive but less wordy account of what various Dusted personnel found most personally essential in the 2010s. Enjoy!
Andrew Forell’s Ten Others of the Tens:
Algiers – Algiers (Matador 2015)
Burial – Rival Dealer (Hyperdub, 2013)
Deerhunter – Halcyon Days (4AD, 2010)
Goon Sax – We’re Not Talking (Chapter Music, 2018)
John Grant – Pale Green Ghosts (Bella Union, 2013)
John Murry – The Graceless Age (Evangeline, 2012)
Low – Double Negative (Sub Pop, 2018)
My Bloody Valentine – m b v (m b v, 2013)
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – Skeleton Tree (Bad Seed Ltd, 2016)
Tim Hecker – Rave Death, 1972 (Kranky, 2011)
Ben Donnelly’s A Decade of Albums, Alphabetical
Sina Alam – Cut Pieces (Tekehaye Borideh Shodeh) (Sina Alam, 2011)
Marisa Anderson – Traditional and Public Domain Songs (Grapefruit Records, 2013)
Shana Cleveland & The Sandcastles – Oh Man Cover the Ground (Suicide Squeeze, 2015)
Demdike Stare – Tryptych (Modern Love, 2010)

Jason Gioncontere’s 10 From the 10s
Recency biases can render exercises such as these moot; fortunately my palate continues to evolve at a glacial pace. Compounding matters is the flash-cube sized attention span the Digital Age is leaving us with in its wake. If it hasn’t honestly hasn’t affected the way you digest and connect with music one iota you are luckier than I. From the opening notes I knew all these albums below were a different beast, each and every time I am left with no choice but to go on the journey in its entirety as intended. Best efforts were made to sequence these in number of rotations:
David Nance - Calling Christine (CDR, 2016)
Helen - The Original Faces (Kranky, 2015)
Dreamdecay - N V N V N V (Iron Lung, 2013)
Uniform - Wake in Fright (Sacred Bones, 2017)
Lou Barlow - Brace the Wave (Joyful Noise, 2015)
Protomartyr - Under Color of Official Right (Hardly Art, 2014)
Axis:Sova - Weight of a Color (Kill Shaman, 2012)
Beachglass - Clouding (Bandcamp, 2017)
Birds of Maya - Ready to Howl (Richie, 2010)
La Hell Gang - Thru Me Again (Mexican Summer, 2014)
Jennifer Kelly’s 2010s Favorites
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds — Push the Sky Away (Bad Seed Ltd., 2013)
Protomartyr — Under Colour of Official Right (Hardly Art, 2014)
Sleaford Mods — Divide and Exit (Harbinger Sound, 2014)
Meg Baird — Don’t Weigh Down the Light (Drag City, 2015)
Heron Oblivion — Heron Oblivion (Sub Pop, 2016)
Amy Rigby — The Old Guys (Southern Domestic, 2018)
Steve Gunn — The Unseen in Between (Matador, 2019)
Patois Counselors — Proper Release (Ever/Never, 2018)
Damien Jurado — Maraqopa (Secretly Canadian, 2012)
Skull Defekts — Peer Amid (Thrill Jockey, 2011)
Jack Rose — Luck in the Valley (Thrill Jockey, 2010)
Rangda — False Flag (Drag City, 2010)
Tim Clarke’s A Baker’s Dozen From the 2010s
In a nod to The Quietus’s regular feature, here are 13 albums that have meant a lot to me in recent years. I’m sure there have been musical trends during the 2010s more worthy of coverage than a personal list of favorites, but if one thing’s clear from this list it’s that, for better or worse, my taste hasn’t changed much in the ensuing years and is rarely swayed by the flavor of the month (or year, or decade). Most of this is expansive guitar-based stuff, and they’re all albums I don’t hesitate to revisit to this day. So, if that sounds like your bag, you can’t go wrong with any of these, presented in alphabetical order:
Big Thief — U.F.O.F. (4AD, 2019)
Chris Cohen — Overgrown Path (Captured Tracks, 2012)
Loma — Loma (Sub Pop, 2018)
Sandro Perri — Impossible Spaces (Constellation, 2011)
Radiohead — A Moon Shaped Pool (XL, 2016)
Roommate — Make Like (Strange Weather, 2015)
Andy Shauf — The Party (Arts & Crafts, 2016)
Shearwater — Animal Joy (Sub Pop, 2012)
Chad VanGaalen — Light Information (Sub Pop, 2017)
Mark Van Hoen — Where is the Truth? (City Centre Offices, 2010)
The Walkmen — Lisbon (Fat Possum, 2010)
Wild Beasts — Smother (Domino, 2011)
Women — Public Strain (Jagjaguwar, 2010)

@the-kiwi-is-not-a-pewee thank you ! I'm never very comfortable when I have to talk about me, but to thank you, I'll do it !
rules: answer the 20 questions below and then tag bloggers that you want to get to know better.
Nicknames: In real life my friends use the nickname LM, but on internet you can call me Oli (for Olympe).
Height: 1,67m = around 5'4 and 5'5 I think
Orientation: Pansexual/Panromantic (I'm a little shy to talk about it because I discovered it a short time ago, but I'm absolutely confident and not ashamed).
Nationality: I'm French (with Armenian origins).
Favorite Fruit: Apples ! I love apples !
Favorite Season: I appreciate all of them, but my favorite is the summer, with the warm nights and the festivities.
Favorite Flower: I often ask myself this question, and I don't really have answers... maybe the Lisianthus or the roses... I don't know.
Favorite Scent: The scent of madeleine or of my childhood stuffed animals.
Favorite Colors : Blue and red ! (Cause black and white are not colors.)
Favorite Animals : Wolves, penguins and lions.
Coffee, Tea, or Hot Chocolate? : Hot chocolate. I don't really like the others.
Average Hours of Sleep: Around 8 and 9 hours.
Cat or Dog person? : I'm completely a dog person, like all my family.
Favorite Fictional Characters: It's going to be mostly book characters. Ok... here we go :
-Percy Jackson : One of my first hero, I love him. He introduced me to Rick Riordan books, and he's an amazing boy.
-Rachel Elizabeth Dare : My queen, my goddess, I love her with all my heart and she deserves so much more than what she already has.
-Leo Valdez : One of the most fun and adorable guy I ever saw in a book.
-Clarisse Larue : I'm a very proud girl, like her. But I also have been bullied when I was younger. And Clarisse showed me how people can evolve and how some of them can be very nice people under their shell.
-Reyna Avila Ramirez Arellano : There's a lot of debats around her, and even if I don't like it, I love Reyna. She is strong, one of the strongest girl I ever saw in a fiction.
-Héctor Rivera (Coco) : The adult Leo Valdez. He is fun, sweet, protective and smart, but he hides a tragic past and a horrible "life".
-Imelda Rivera (Coco) : Did I say that Reyna is one of the stronger fictional girl I ever saw ? Well Imelda is one of the strongest fictional woman I ever saw. She led her life, her business, and her family with a master hand, alone, heartbroken, but still with her head held high.
-Padme Amidala (Star Wars) : I don't know, I really love Nathalie Portman and I really love this badass queen. (Special mention to Anakin Skywalker, I love him too).
-Evey Hammond (movie V for Vendetta) : I REALLY love Nathalie Portman. Evey is an excellent character, strong and intelligent, with a tragic past (I maybe have a thing for this type of character) and I prefer Evey in the movie (stronger in my opinion).
-Esmeralda (The Hunchback of Notre-Dame) : My first Disney icon. I really hate Esmeralda in the book, but in this movie, she's one of the best characters of all Disney movies for me.
-Cyrano de Bergerac : The guys who made me love books and poems. And who taught me the superiority of intellect over beauty.
-Gervaise (L'Assommoir : book of Emile Zola) : This girl is so innocent and she suffers so much, I just... I can't handle it. I never cry in front of any book like I cry in front of L'Assommoir.
-And finally, a lot of women from Greek mythology (cause I love it) : Medea, Iphigenia, Antigone, Cassandra of Troy, Psyche and Andromache (I love this girls and their stories, they are strong and sweet, and they don't deserve all the tragedies they live).
...Sorry. It's always a bad idea to ask me this type of questions... I can't stop talking about it...
Number of blankets I sleep with: One or two, it depends on the temperature.
Dream Trip: Japan, U.S.A (where I should go next year in order to visit NY), Mexico and a safari in Africa.
Blog Created: Around the end of 2017 and the beginning of 2018. Yeah my blog is pretty young.
Random Fact: When I see a sign of someone I like (like a message, a photo, or the person herself) I can't stop smiling. It's stronger than me.
Tagging : @meghanlovesash @what-the-phoenix @transanabeth @watersoracle
Here I tag blog I like but I don't talk to all of them, I hope you'll like to answer to this tag.
