Hi there! First of all, I wanted to say how much I like your work!! As a black woman myself, its is so nice to see other women creating work that represents us and is so well written!
I saw you are accepting requests, and I wanted to ask if you could write about how the LateForWork!Couple met. Like how everything progressed and they fell in love with each other.
Thank you in advance and keep up with the amazing work beautiful <3
Wow! Thank you so much for your kind words!🤧it makes me feel so good knowing that black women are feeling represented in works of fiction. I’ll continue to do my best to represent every black woman out there.
And thanks for the request! I think the LFW couple would meet kind of through Taehyung/Jimin at a company meal. Jungkook’s more of an introvert here with reader/OC being naturally flirty and knowing exactly what they want.
I really enjoyed writing this and I hope you like it!
~
Jungkook didn’t know how he kept letting Taehyung drag him to these meet ups. He didn’t know any of Taehyung’s coworkers or other friends outside of Jimin so he felt really awkward sitting at this table. He’d much rather be at home right now, maybe live streaming Little Nightmares 2 or cracking open the new Resident Evil game he had just received through pre order.
All Taehyung had to do was bribe him with promises of expensive beef and fancy desserts for him to leave the comfort of his home. Taehyung even managed to force him into a loose button up shirt just as Jungkook was about to throw on his signature hoodie. Goodness, that man was strong when he had a goal. At least Jungkook would get some free food today and maybe a sweet to take home so tonight wouldn’t be a total waste.
His face was practically glued to his phone, focus on clearing all of the jelly on this level of Candy Crush. He was down to 1 move and one more jelly square but there were no moves in that area that could help him! Urgh! And he didn’t want to uselessly use any of his power ups. Should he just lose his streak?
Just as he was about to move the candy, a hand came out of nowhere and did it for him. That move created a power up that triggered itself thus clearing the jelly and causing him to win the level. When the happy music played along with that little girl popping up to tell him he won, he couldn’t fight the smile on his face.
Then he realized that he didn’t make that move. Turning around, he was expecting to see Taehyung or Jimin but his mouth dropped at the sight of the person.
You were……what words could he use?
Beautiful? Gorgeous? Majestic? Attractive? Stunning? All of the above?
Your skin was dewy and effervescent, even the lights that lit up the restaurant paled in comparison to your glistening and dark skin. You looked like earth personified—graceful and cool and he just knew you sparkled when the sun hit you.
Your hair was in a half up half down style, claw clip holding it up, 2 locks of hair framed your face and were curled at the end. Your lashes were long and your full lips were shiny with gloss.
He couldn’t take his eyes off you, it was hard to look away when such a gem was standing before him. Could someone even be that exquisite in real life?
And when you smiled, he swore he heard angels singing in his ears.
“I hate when there’s only one move left yet nothing around it. I just know my FBI agent sees me throw a fit over it every day.”
His brain short circuited for a moment. Were you initiating conversation with him? About a game? Willingly? Oh god, is he getting pranked right now? He thought Ashton Kutcher was dead. Is he?
Stop thinking about possibly dead actors! There’s a pretty girl in front of you!
He cleared his throat. “Yeah. They must be concerned I’m having a mental breakdown because they advertised a therapist to me.” He actually shocked himself a little from how easily those words flowed out. Small talk with a stranger was not a specialty of his.
Your laugh was loud and a little goofy but so endearing, it made him chuckle as well.
“Candy Crush will do that to you. I wouldn’t be surprised if the creators opened a rehab for us.”
“It’ll just be us having group discussions on how bringing hazelnuts to the bottom has been affecting our ability to form positive relationships.”
He couldn’t believe how easy conversation was flowing between you two. For some reason, he didn’t feel pressured or nervous speaking to you. You just seemed so open and kind.
Who were you?
“Jungkook! I see you met one of my coworkers. She’s super hot, isn’t she? I told her to let me make her a model but she insists on staying in PR. Boring.” Jimin appeared out of nowhere like a jump scare, draping an arm over your shoulders. Jungkook’s face faltered a little. Jimin was the biggest flirt known to mankind. He could probably charm the pants off a dead person if he wanted to. If you knew him, and more importantly if you worked with him, you must have been on the opposite side of his flirting. Was it a possibility that you two were closer than coworkers?
But instead, you just rolled your eyes, moving his arm off of you.
“Save that talk for your next spread, Park. Don’t think I’ve forgotten that you still haven’t submitted your portfolio.”
Jimin’s smile never dropped despite your slightly cold attitude. He could tell you were just poking fun at him.
“Anyway, Jungkook, this is y/n. y/n, this is Jungkook.”
“I can introduce myself, thank you.” You said before pulling out the chair next to Jungkook and sitting down. That movement caused your perfume to flutter all around him—it was light but sweet like some kind of dessert.
Once you were settled, you turned your body to Jungkook, propping your elbow on the table to lean your cheek against it.
And the way your hooded eyes stared at him sent a harsh shiver from the top of his head all the way to his toes. He didn’t even notice Jimin’s smirk or how the man tip toed away to gossip to his favorite buddy.
“I’m y/n.”
He opened his mouth but no sound came out. He didn’t know why his throat felt dry all of a sudden.
Oh great, he could chat with you about mobile games and FBI agents but getting his name out was difficult?
Clearing his throat, he forced out his name, voice cracking a little at the end. Embarrassment rushed through his body, heat rising to his ears and he was grateful his hair was long enough to cover them.
You must think he was a dork now.
You giggled, your eyelashes fluttering and making his heart weak.
“Nice to meet you.”
He shyly nodded. “You too.”
“Sorry about Jimin. He’s like that at work too.”
Jungkook pushed his hair back with one hand, not noticing how your eyes followed the motion. “At least you only have to work with him. Imagine knowing him since childhood.”
You pressed your hand against your chest in faux distress. “How awful. I could only imagine the pain you endure daily.”
Wow. You were so easy to talk to. He had completely forgotten about his phone, tucking it into his pocket to finally have a rest.
Eventually, food and drinks began flowing. Taehyung and Jimin joined you two at the table but not even they could pop the bubble that you’ve formed.
Jungkook could barely focus on his food. You had his full attention, holding onto every word and laugh that fell from your lips. He found you to be witty but also humble, not afraid to poke a little fun at Taehyung and Jimin who just laughed right along with you.
You were mesmerizing. He almost hated blinking if it meant your beautiful face left his sight.
And when you would turn your attention back to him, not realizing that you’ve never left his, you’d send him a flirty wink and coy smile that would send his blood pressure through the roof from how his heart would stutter and race. If a doctor was listening with a stethoscope right now, they’d think the organ was giving out on him.
“So how’d you end up here?” You asked after taking a sip of your drink.
He sighed, eyes going over to the other side of the table where Taehyung was showing Jimin something on his phone but the man was so drunk that he was holding it upside down. And Jimin probably didn’t even notice, laughing as if he could understand the upside down photo. “Taehyung dragged me here. Said I need to start getting out more and I can’t waste my youth playing games all day. He keeps pushing me to date but I’m not that interested right now.”
Well, that was before. Now, however, he was starting to change that view.
You hummed, using your chopsticks to eat a piece of meat, chewing carefully and swallowing before speaking again.
“Does it make you happy?”
That was a question he didn’t hear people ask him often. Well, in a genuine way. He’d normally hear it rhetorically. He’s heard it come from his parents more times than he could count, followed by a lecture that he’d drown out.
He blinked a few times. Gaming did make him happy. He appreciated the hard work creators put into each frame, the adrenaline he got from jump scares, and the accomplishment from completing one. “Yeah….it does.”
“Then that’s what matters. Who cares if someone else feels like you’re wasting your life? It’s yours. You can’t be focused too much on what others want for you. You’ll only neglect your own self.”
Wow.
“Then again, we should thank Taehyung from forcing you out tonight.”
He tilted his head. He would absolutely never do that but he was intrigued by your suggestion. “Really? Why?”
You didn’t say anything, just gazed at him with those captivating eyes and he knew exactly what you meant.
Maybe he should thank Taehyung.
As the night came to a close, he helped escort Taehyung to his car. Jimin had left a little earlier with a person you identified as one of the newest members of management. Apparently, they were kind of resistant to Jimin’s flirting at first but had crumbled after about 4 months of Jimin trying and trying. Jungkook recalls Jimin speaking about this person, claiming he was in love with them and would respectfully shoot his shot whenever possible.
That left Jungkook with a drunk Taehyung and you were helping your coworker who lived in the same apartment building as you.
Jungkook didn’t just want to see you walk away. Who knows if he’d ever see you again? And he refused to ask Jimin or Taehyung for your number. The teasing would never end.
“Hey…..wait.” He called out to you after practically dumping Taehyung in the back seat. You had parked right in front of his car and were buckling your roommate’s seatbelt who was slumped over asleep.
You turned to him after closing the passenger door, your eyes locking in with his.
There was that nervousness again but he swallowed it down. He couldn’t chicken out now! Not when you’d been getting along so well this evening.
“Um…..look, if you don’t mind, could I have your number? Maybe we can hang out sometime.”
You eyed him up and down but not in a checking him out kind of way. It was like you were analyzing him, finding every little crack in his personality that you could.
He honestly felt a little vulnerable. Why weren’t you speaking? Hadn’t tonight gone well? Was he just trying his luck and you’re already dating someone? Oh god, were you just being nice and he took it as you flirting with him?! Assumptions really were dangerous.
He was about to apologize and roll under his car to stay there until the end of time before you finally spoke.
“Im not a maybe type of woman, Jungkook.” You spoke bluntly.
His mouth dropped a little in shock. Not necessarily because of your blunt tone but because you were just his fucking type. You knew what you wanted and that was his cup of tea.
You didn’t wait for him to respond, rounding your car to open the driver’s side. He just watched you with doe eyes and a funny feeling swirling in his tummy.
However, before you got in, you said,
“I don’t wait around.”
And on his drive home with a snoring Taehyung in the back, he thought one thing….
~
When you arrived at work Monday morning, it was to a bunch of people surrounding your desk. That wasn’t really out of the ordinary since people often got their assignments of the day from you.
What was out the ordinary though?
The huge bouquet of flowers that sat just in the middle of your desk, the colors vivid and the arrangement looking larger than your desk.
Your coworkers chatted excitedly about the flowers as you approached but you ignored them. Instead, you reached for the little card on a plastic stand just nestled between the blooms.
You had to bite your lip to fight your smile but you couldn’t fight the feeling that was rising in your chest.
I don’t either.

Charles Augustus Milverton [LFW]
"And yet I can't get out of doing business with him - indeed, he is here at my invitation."
Another count of Holmes obsessively wanting to be face-to-face with his criminals. Honestly he would be a criminology major if it were an available subject to study. Such a true crimer for real /affectionate
Holmes remarks on this in ILLU!
"I love to come to close grips with my man. I like to meet him eye to eye and read for myself the stuff that he is made of."
SERIOUSLY ARE YOU OKAY 😭
Watson, mentally: Days since Holmes has put himself in active danger: 0 (disgruntled face palm)
Big thing to mention in the beginning of the story, there is a LOT of out-of-character Holmes. But certainly not in a bad way! In a "oh fuck this is serious" kind of way. It's genuinely unsettling and it's what makes Milverton such a scary antagonist. Here are some examples:
• Holmes's rant after Watson asks who Milverton is, STEAMS of his boiling hatred and how furious the man makes him. He calls him not only "the king of all the blackmailers" but also "the worst man in London". We do not often see Holmes this angry 😧
I'll tell you, Watson. He is the king of all the blackmailers. Heaven help the man, and still more the woman, whose secret and reputation come into the power of Milverton! With a smiling face and a heart of marble, he will squeeze and squeeze until he has drained them dry.
What I find interesting about this passage, is that typically Holmes condemns Watson for the "poetry" in his descriptions in his stories. After all, a reasoner must see everything exactly how it is. But when Holmes's blood is boiling and he needs to illustrate exactly how he feels, sometimes only a snake metaphor will do! And after the rant?
I had seldom heard my friend speak with such intensity of feeling.
basically Watson's saying "Oh shit".
Holmes sat motionless by the fire, his hands buried deep in his trouser pockets, his chin sunk upon his breast, his eyes fixed upon the glowing embers. For half an hour he was silent and still.
Holmes was grey with anger and mortification.
Holmes disregarded the outstretched hand and looked at him with a face of granite.
Holmes being cold and antisocial here is very out-of-character in the canon. "Face of granite" is particularly unsettling here, since he is usually stoic and collected. He always knows what to do, and when he's THIS apprehensive, that familiarity of security is gone! He's face to face with simply another person and he's tense! That's how you KNOW shit's gonna get scary. Doyle did everything right here, to make Milverton a terrifying antagonist. 😭
Next point:
"Dr. Watson is my friend and partner." "Very good, Mr. Holmes. It is only in your client's interests that I protested. The matter is so very delicate - " "Dr. Watson has already heard of it."
Both lines said by Holmes, I imagine that it was probably common ettiquette to use the formal name in front of guests/acquaintances, but the emphasis of using the name back to back like that has a more aggressive tone of, "It's Dr. Watson to you." and I just - 😭
Finally, just love this bit. The tension really picks up when the gun's pulled out and there's lots of shouting, and amidst it all -
I picked up a chair, but Holmes shook his head, and I laid it down again.
FOR THE RECORD, WATSON WAS PREPARED TO BEAT HIM UP WITH THE CHAIR. Good old Watson! If I may say so 🥰 seriously such an MVP.
That covers it for LFW CHAS part 1!

The Beryl Coronet Part 1 - Notes!
I'm having a lazy Sunday morning so I'm going to luxuriously type out my thoughts while I'm reading today's letter! I'm especially excited because I don't think I've properly read this one.
bow-window looking down the street
I have however read this little nugget of detail because I tried to find any and all descriptions of Baker Street for a game I'm making (The Beekeeper's picnic, you can wishlist it on Steam if you like...)
In a different story it's described as having a bay window. Both bow windows and bay windows project from the exterior wall. Bow windows usually have more panes of glass to make a smooth outward curve.
Both are also fiendishly difficult to convey when you're working with 320x130 pixels.
“Holmes,” said I as I stood one morning in our bow-window looking down the street, “here is a madman coming along. It seems rather sad that his relatives should allow him to come out alone.”
Outdated attitudes towards mental health aside, I think it's sweet that Watson is able to see someone in distress at a distance and immediately find it sad nobody is looking out for him. His doctorly instincts are aroused!
Sherlock Holmes pushed him down into the easy-chair and, sitting beside him, patted his hand and chatted with him in the easy, soothing tones which he knew so well how to employ.
Likewise, Holmes is knows by now how to handle someone in distress. There's a really sweet illustration of this moment by Josef Friedrich
We have done a good deal in this direction during the last few years, and there are many noble families to whom we have advanced large sums upon the security of their pictures, libraries, or plate. “‘It is absolutely essential to me,’ said he, ‘that I should have £50,000 at once.
B-b-b-Blackmail, methinks. Either that or this is some kind of scam on the bank (perhaps they upfront the money for the coronet but never receive it, or receive a fake) But since we're apparently dealing with a famous notable person, I don't think that's going to be it)
‘You have doubtless heard of the Beryl Coronet?’
There has already been a mountain of discussion about coronets in the LfW server - what precisely it is, how the word is pronounced, the etymology...
I'd always thought a coronet was something like this - basically a tiara but a little more gender-neutral!
Turns out it's actually a small crown which has a top to it.
“‘I should be happy to advance it without further parley from my own private purse,’ said I, ‘were it not that the strain would be rather more than it could bear.
I really hope this is just lip service and he wouldn't have really done that. Please Mr Holder, don't lend clients your own money! I feel he's being set up here, either by the narrative or by this Mysterious Notable Man.
I determined, therefore, that for the next few days I would always carry the case backward and forward with me, so that it might never be really out of my reach.
I just want to sit all Sherlock Holmes characters down and give them a long lecture about how the most vulnerable time for any precious or valuable object is when it is in transit. Also the the bureau of your dressing-room is not actually more secure than a safe at London's second largest bank.
Another, Lucy Parr, the second waiting-maid, has only been in my service a few months.
She gets a name, and is therefore Suspicious.
I could not trust him in the handling of large sums of money. When he was young he became a member of an aristocratic club, and there, having charming manners, he was soon the intimate of a number of men with long purses and expensive habits
Libertine son Arthur is also Suspicious.
Twice my boy has asked her to marry him, for he loves her devotedly, but each time she has refused him.
...... they're cousins? Right? I mean they are cousins. Not just cousins, but she's been adopted by his father. Right?!
I thought that first-cousin marriage was a bit of an eyebrow-raiser at this time even though it did happen sometimes.
Where are the jewels which you have stolen?’ “‘Stolen!’ he cried. “‘Yes, thief!’ I roared, shaking him by the shoulder. “‘There are none missing. There cannot be any missing,’ said he.
Ok, I think that was actually a "Stolen?!" and he's as surprised as anyone. The beryls were already gone by the time he got there. I'm sure Lucy's disappearance has something to do with it!
at the sight of the coronet and of Arthur's face, she read the whole story and, with a scream, fell down senseless on the ground.
I feel bad for laughing at this.
I am enjoying this one SO MUCH so far! The missing item genre of Sherlock Holmes story is one of my favorites, and so far we've had a really tense tragic narrative with lots of complexity.
I am a little worried that this story isn't a well known one and so perhaps it's a bit of a flop towards the end - but who knows, perhaps it's appropriately a hidden gem!

I find it very curious that London Fashion Week was September 15th - 21st but Karlie seems to never been seen anywhere near LFW in recent years (that we know of 👀) and didn't show her face for New York Fashion Week this year either, other than the MET.
Now she is in Paris (city of love and light), which is a no brainer. PFW started September 27th until October 5th, and if I were to bet on 10/5 sis will show up at Louis Vuitton's show that starts @7pm Paris time. She might also go to Stella's show the night before on the 4th.
I mention 10/5 because miss Taylor Swift took two post down that now have her showing she has 510 posts.
10/5 = 5/10
Let's see if Tay post something next week on the last day of PFW. You know... the city where the "love was locked down 🔐" 6 years ago.
5 + 1 + 0 = 6 (just for kicks 😂)
**Disclaimer: Don't take this post seriously folks. I know noneof what Taylor does/or Karlie doesn't have to have anything to do with Kaylor. Just enjoy the thoughts.** 🙄

She has been one month away. If money isn't a problem, then this reinforces what I am saying. Theres is no reason for her to be away for so long. And she is unemployed. The proof that I am right, is you don't publish my comments.
OK, let me break this down for you in little tiny pieces.
1. I got this on Sunday, after I stopped looking at my asks. Prior to that, I’d already posted two of your asks (or very similar ones, and if they weren’t you, I haven’t received others) - so that’s a flat out lie.
2. Even if it was true (which again, it isn’t), that’s not proof of anything, other than me not wanting to post negative, repetitive asks.
3. Did you completely miss the fact that she actually was working last week? Not filming doesn’t mean not working. Going to LFW and doing radio interviews to promote her book is, get this, work. So there was a reason for her to be in London last week.
4. Past that, and even prior to that, you have no idea where she was when, other than 5 days (give or take) in NYC. So ‘she has been one month away’ is your assumption, but not undeniable fact. Airplanes still work, last I checked.
5. You also don’t know what her upcoming schedule is. Again, not filming doesn’t mean she doesn’t have other commitments.
I’m sorry if you feel this makes me delusional. But that’s on you.

London Fashion Week Men’s AW19 Highlights
From the 5th – 7th of January I had the pleasure of attending London Fashion Week Men’s AW19 on behalf of Hauturely as a Contributing Fashion Editor. I have covered Womenswear shows before but this was my first time doing the menswear shows too so it was even more exciting. Watch my LFW vlog including outfits of the day here!
A large majority of the shows were set in the heart of Brick Lane and Shoreditch- Artsy, graffiti galore and eclectic- every art enthusiast’s dream. The shows that I saw truly showcased innovation, talent and excellence and I was truly impressed.
Day 1
Day 1 was exciting with the inter-galactic cinema viewing and distribution of popcorn accompanying the Band of Outsiders’ mix of casual sportswear, nostalgic prints and corduroy suits and also the models venturing into the wilderness setting in their après ski attire at Wood Wood.
Day 2
Day 2 started off with a bang and the eclectic fashion crowd was thrown into Mischiko Koshino’s colourful rave scene. Think graffiti everywhere, loud music, flashing lights and pieces from the collection scattered around in the various areas of the venue that resembled an underground club! Talk about a party! An impressive immersive experience that perfectly complemented the mood of the collection.
Danshan was equally impressive with its thought-provoking collection with the models walking in water wearing subtly gender fluid clothing, highlighting the importance of allowing people to be themselves and push through societal stereotypes.
Day 3
Day 3, the final day of covering the shows, ended on a true high with Barbour’s AW19 Presentation. The presentation was set in the opulent and ornate Lancaster House, by far one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever set my eyes on. The brand was celebrating 125 years and it was so inspiring to be able to learn more about the heritage of the brand and also see the pieces up close!
I loved how they presented the pieces like an art exhibition and models were like moving art- just truly phenomenal. There were a lot of celebrities there too and male models so between the stunning pieces, the beyond beautiful setting and the attractive attendees, I didn’t know where to look!! On a serious note though it was amazing, to see more of the event featured on the Barbour Instagram page click here.
Overall, it was such a fun time! I had a blast and was truly inspired by all that I had seen, thank you to Hauturely for having me on board this unforgettable experience. Check out my LFW Mens Instagram AW19 highlights to see more!

lazybones
characters: jeonghan || side: seokmin, seungcheol, jihoon words: 2k genre: angst , one (1) instance of fluff warnings: unhealthy behavior, hints of depression...? prompt: “when you said it was over i didn’t think you meant it like this.” from the lfw challenge and this song.
maybe one day, the memories of you won’t wake up when he does
Jeonghan’s eyes open lazily, sleepiness making it hard to focus on anything. He shifts around bed trying to find the source of the sound that woke him up. He gets his answer as he glances at the open window and finds a small bird chirping and skipping around his windowsill. A groan escapes his mouth before he gets up. The bird flies away when jeonghan gets close enough to the window and closes it. Sunlight makes his eyes hurt when he looks outside, the busy street below makes him taste something akin to bitterness.
His phone reads 10:45am when he grabs it after laying in bed again. The red icon next to his messages makes his breath stop for a brief second, his heart skips a beat as he opens the app. Jeonghan has to resist the urge to throw his phone across the room when the name on his phone reads Seungcheol instead of your name. He sighs and places an arm over his eyes. His phone is back on top of his nightstand before he tugs at the blankets and makes himself comfortable again. The quietness of the room lulls him back to sleep. After all, it’s too early to be thinking about you.
It’s not really that he misses you, or at least that’s what he says to himself and his friends a few hours later over lunch. The worried look on Seokmin’s face and the slight disappointment in Seuncheol’s is enough for Jeonghan to feel somewhat guilty for being late to their meeting. He runs a hand through his hair and smiles, a nervous habit. Attempts to add an extra ounce of credibility to his voice when he makes an excuse for his tardiness. He fails. But somehow his friends let it go, Soonyoung changes the topic and Jeonghan feels relieved. The occasional concerned looks he gets are ignored deliberately.
The emptiness of his apartment greets him once he’s back. Jeonghan collapses onto his bed even though the sun is still out. He doesn’t even bother with changing his clothes. A sigh escapes his mouth as one of his arms reaches to the other side of the bed. Hand grasping the empty space. He swears he can hear your voice wishing him goodnight before he falls asleep.
__
Jeonghan curses without opening his eyes when he can feel the sunlight hitting his face. He should have listened to you when you told him to buy the darker curtains. He rolls around in bed until he bumps into you. A groan can be heard under the covers and he laughs while his arm sneaks around your waist. You mutter something about being too hot to cuddle, try to swat his arm away. Jeonghan pulls you closer and buries his face in your hair anyway. After a few minutes of fight, you give in and turn around to face him. His fingers trace random shapes on your hips as he kisses your forehead with a tired smile.
“Good morning, beautiful.” His husky voice and slurred words let you know he’s not fully awake yet. A childish frown adornes your features as your brush some hair away from his eyes.
“You woke me up…”
Jeonghan laughs and hugs you tighter. Rolls around with you until you two almost fall out of bed. When he stops, he can’t help but stare at you while let out a light chuckle. He thinks about how lucky he is to have you when you smile at him. You place a soft kiss on his jaw before getting up. Jeonghan watches you walk away, notices you’re wearing one of his shirts and smiles to himself. Finds himself barely able to resist the temptation to run to you and drag you back to bed. He’s sure that you would try to push him away again.
When he finally gets out of bed and looks for you, you’re sitting on top of the kitchen counter with a cup of coffee. Feet swaying slowly until he gets close enough. One of his hands finds your coffee and steals it to take a sip, face scrunching when he burns his lips. You laugh and whisper something about karma but he ignores it and hugs you instead.
“What’s with you today?” you say with a confused tone. Jeonghan doesn’t need to look at you to see you smiling, can feel it in the way you thread your fingers through his hair. He nuzzles into your neck, taking in your scent.
“I love you.”
Panic starts to set in his stomach when your fingers stop for a second. It’s not the first time Jeonghan says those words to you but he still gets wary when they leave their mouth at unexpected times. He contemplates if he should pull away from you, if he should say something to shift the conversation. He doesn’t. Instead, he stays still and waits for your answer.
A small chuckle escapes your lips and your fingers resume their way through his hair, “I love you too, Jeonghan.”
. He wakes up disoriented and slightly confused. Something rolls down his cheeks and it takes him a few moments to notice he’s crying. The darkness in his apartment does little to stop him from getting up and looking for you. Desperation seeping into every cell of his body with each passing second. It’s not until later that he remembers you’re not there, haven’t been in a while. He collapses in the middle of the living room. Your voice still echoes inside his head.
__
A catchy beat and the insistent sounds of his doorbell snap Jeonghan out of his reverie. The living room looks way brighter than before and his head turns towards the kitchen instinctively. You’re not there.
The doorbell continues even after his phone stopped ringing. Someone screams his name from the other side of the door. The memory of your voice slips away for a second and Jeonghan finds himself annoyed with whoever is outside. He makes his way to the door with reluctance and a groan. Seokmin looks relieved when his eyes meet, says something about taking too long before making his way past the door. When he asks, Jeonghan lies again, claims he was in the bathroom and couldn’t hear the knocking. A small hum from Seokmin is all he gets as response and Jeonghan finds himself getting annoyed again.
“Why are you here anyway?” The words sound harsher than when they were just a thought and he can see the sadness flashing through Seokmin’s face. Jeonghan feels bad when he remembers a promise to help Jihoon with one of his projects as the reason for the younger one to be there. In a poor attempt to fix the situation, he adds, “isn’t it still too early?”
Seokmin seems to catch onto his regret and forces a smile. “Jihoon sent me to make sure you’re not late again.”
Jeonghan thinks about objecting, ask Seokmin when was he ever late to a meeting but he really can’t remember the last time he wasn’t. He sighs after a few seconds of silence, hand rising to fix his hair before stopping halfway. The ghost of his touch still present and making his mind blurry. Seokmin stares at him, slightly confused. Jeonghan leaves the room before the other can say anything, muttering something about taking a shower.
They meet with Jihoon at his studio an hour past the time they agreed to meet. Jeonghan wants to apologize but can’t bring himself to do it. He decides to keep quiet, listens to Jihoon complaining about Seokmin not doing his job properly.
“Always late, just like-” Jihoon stops mid-sentence and frowns. Your name doesn’t have to leave his lips for Jeonghan to know. The beginning of an apology forces him to shake his head and say it’s fine. And it really is fine, because he can’t blame Jihoon for being annoyed at his tardiness. Can’t blame him to pointing out who gave Jeonghan that bad habit to begin with. And even though he wishes his friend hadn’t mentioned it, he smiles anyway. He tries to push all the times he had to wait for you to the back of his mind.
They carry on with their original plans after that, tiptoeing around the awkwardness.
__
When Jeonghan gets home after meeting up with the boys, he doesn’t expect to see boxes filled with your things in the hallway of his apartment. He looks around a few rooms until he finds you in the kitchen, your hands grabbing your favorite mug from the cupboard. The loud noise of the mug hitting the counter after he says your name scares him a bit. You don’t turn around, and Jeonghan is confused. He wants to ask about the boxes, about your half filled suitcase sitting on the bed of your shared bedroom. You turn around just when he’s about to place a hand on your shoulder.
Your eyes are red and your hair looks messy. Jeonghan’s heart writhes in pain and his mind screams at him incoherent sentences. He’s never seen you this sad, this desperate. You walk towards the hallway before he can fully process what’s going on.
“I thought you were not coming back tonight.”
Your voice sounds unconcerned, in the same manner as if you were talking about the weather. Jeonghan knows better. He knows you enough to hear your labored breathing afterwards, he sees how your hand twitches when you try not to clench your fist. A clear sign of uneasiness and discomfort. He follows you to the bedroom in silence, trying to think about what to say. You resume the packing as if he wasn’t right behind you.
“You’re-“ His breath catches in his throat, painful. He can feel his eyes burning with unshed tears once he realizes what is happening. You don’t acknowledge his presence, keep taking your clothes out of the closet in silence. Jeonghan sits on the bed for a moment and tries to calm himself.
“When you said it was over I didn’t think you meant it like this.”
You look at him, half folded shirt tossed carelessly into the suitcase. The hurt in your eyes feels heavy enough to make him avoid your gaze completely, opting for looking at his hands instead. A sigh escapes your lips and Jeonghan thinks (wishes) you’ll say something. But you don’t. You just go back to folding the rest of your clothes.
A few hours later, Jeonghan finds himself at the front door of his apartment, his hands holding yours desperately. He tells you to not leave him and how much he loves you. His words sound much more like sobs than actual words and he’s not sure if you understood him at all. You shake your head and pull your hands away slowly, force yourself to smile at him without succeeding.
Jeonghan thinks he can hear you apologizing as you close the taxi’s door but that might be just his mind tricking him.
. His heart is pounding in his chest when he wakes up, sweat making his hair stick to his forehead. He doesn’t look for you this time, doesn’t stay awake in the middle of the living room for five hours after he understands you’re not there. The apartment is quiet and he feels cold despite being covered in blankets. A hand goes up and brushes the hair out of his eyes, it’s still dark outside but Jeonghan doesn’t think he can go back to sleep. So he turns on his side and looks at what used to be your side of the bed in silence.
Sometimes he wonders how is it possible for him to feel like this even though it’s been months since you left him, wonders if he’ll ever stop missing you. He finds himself wishing to be able to get you out of his mind even if it is just for a day. Because knowing you don’t love him despite how much he still thinks about you makes him feel even more hopeless and empty.
He wishes that, someday, he’ll wake up and the memories of you won’t wake up with him.

I bought these boots to wear in Seattle, and after 4 days of use, the rubber tore! Now they aren't waterproof, and I can't return due to the 30 day return policy-- my bad for prepping for Seattle's rainy season (and purchasing in Sept) instead of waiting until it started. Very very disappointed in the quality, especially for the price.

TOP FIVE MOMENTS OF SS/19
After a brief interlude, your resident nerdy fashion blogger is back! So, uh, how about that fashion season?
As much as it hurts me, an obnoxious Manhattanite, to admit…NYFW wasn’t looking so hot this season. In fact, it’s been on a bit of a downward slide for a while now. Even the returns of Provenza Schouler and Rodarte couldn’t quite save it from dragging on and nearly making me lose hope for SS19 as a whole. But the second LFW began, my hope was restored. And it only got better from there. Which shows did I like? The quick answer is a lot. The longer answer is something I hope to turn into an ongoing segment on the blog! During the season, I kept a list of all the collections I liked. Now that the season’s over, there are more than sixty items on that list. Starting this Sunday, I’ll be posting reviews of all my favorite collections of the season, three to five at a time. And that’s going to be every Sunday and Wednesday. Hope you’re ready for more excited rambling than ever! Were there shows I disliked? Of course! No season would be complete without collections that make me miss the days of tutus over bellbottom jeans. (coughcalvinkleincough), but we don’t dwell on the negative over at The Fashion Geek. And before I get to the shows themselves, I’d like to get to the season proper. There are enough exciting things that happened behind the scenes to merit there own post. I hesitate to collectively call them “moments”, as some items on this list encompassed the season as a whole. Regardless, here are my top five moments of SS19 in no particular order;
1. AMAZING COLLECTIONS
Okay, this one was probably a gimme. Is it really possible to go an entire season without liking a single collection? A single piece? All of my favorite designers really impressed me this season, but that’s to be expected. What really surprised me was the fact that I actually enjoyed quite a few collections from designers I’m not usually big fans of. But that’s something we’ll get into in the following weeks. Instead, I’d like to use this space to mention the killer runway sets this season. Balenciaga’s immersive installation was genius and complemented the collection perfectly. (Blue Screen of Death and all.) The dance-inspired Dior show also struck a heavy emotional chord with the former ballet-hopeful in me. Models walking on water under the Eiffel Tower at Saint Laurent? There are no words other than stunning. The pyre, as well as the torch-wielding models, at Rick Owens worked as a powerful, timely statement. And, of course, no list of incredible runway sets would be complete without mentioning the latest Chanel outing. In the past, Karl Lagerfeld has taken us to a shuttle launch, mystical gardens, and an entire Chanel casino. This year’s beach set was particularly ingenious. Models carrying their shoes across the sandy scene as actual waves lapped at their feet. It was, in a word, magical.
2. DESIGNER CHANGE-UPS
This one is always a mixed bag. A designer leaving a brand you liked means potentially not seeing their designs for several seasons. Sometimes a designer you don’t like gets installed in a brand you used to be a fan of and you fear for future collections. But sometimes a designer you like, who’s been quiet for a while, comes back to helm a new brand. Sometimes the new combination of brand and designer is so bizarre you just can’t wait to see what comes next. This season, I think I checked off every single box. While Tisci’s Burberry and Slimane’s “Celine” certainly got the most buzz, I’d like to briefly highlight a departure that I’ve been mourning for the last couple weeks; this season was Josep Font’s last at Delpozo. As excited as I am to see who will take over, and what Font will do next, it’s sad to see the end of an era at one of my favorite brands.
3. RUNWAY INCLUSIVITY CONTINUES TO RISE
A while back, I was looking through collections from a couple seasons back. The lack of diversity on the runway wasn’t just shockingly apparent, it was shocking. It’s unimaginable to think that this was less than a decade ago. However, this season saw a noticeable increase in diversity in race, age, size, and gender representation. NYFW in particular saw a significant increase in percentage of models of color cast, as reported by TheFashionSpot. Plus-size, transgender, and non-binary models have also been cast more frequently than in past seasons. Whereas smaller brands were typically the only ones to show inclusive casts, seeing greater diversity on more “mainstream” brands makes me cautiously optimistic. The fashion industry has a long way to go before it can be considered truly inclusive, but it’s been taking relatively steady steps in the right direction for several years now. We can only hope progress continues to be made.
4. MODEL COMEBACKS
Speaking of models, runway season is always a good time to stage a comeback. Who else remembers Gemma Ward opening Prada SS15? Ward had several impressive turns during this season as well, but she’s been back in the business for a while now. There were several more surprising runway turns this season. Debra Shaw rocked a pantsuit on the Mugler runway. Shalom Harlow closed Versace after a six-year runway hiatus. Yasmin Le Bon made a rare appearance at Calvin Klein. Iekeliene Stange nabbed a Marni exclusive and later went on to walk Courrèges. And one of my favorite models, Lindsey Wixson, came out of retirement to walk for Miu Miu. Word’s still out on whether this is a permanent comeback or a one-time thing, but fingers crossed! It would be wonderful to see new work from all of the above mentioned women.
5. INCREASING EFFORTS TOWARDS SUSTAINABILITY
Some brands have been moving towards more sustainable practices for years - from Stella McCartney to H&M Conscious. This year saw something of a sea change within the fashion industry. It began in the fall of last year when Gucci joined the Fur-Free Alliance. While other brands, such as Ralph Lauren and Armani, had already pledged to stop using fur products, Gucci’s announcement sparked a whole tide of designers moving to more ethical and sustainable practices. There are now nearly a dozen luxury brands that have made similar pledges. Most recent of the bunch was Burberry, and the brand has also decided to stop burning unsold products, vastly decreasing their environmental impact. Most of these brands will continue to use leather products, and their are some staunch holdouts in the use of fur (hello, Fendi), but these are massive steps in the right direction for the environment. (Now if only we could convince brands stop animal testing for their makeup lines as well.) In the wake of the recent IPCC report, sustainability is more pressing than ever. We can only hope more brands follow suit.
Well, I think that’s all for now. What were your favorite things to come out of this most recent season? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
