Since you have phd on subject I want to ask you something. I sometimes get so mad how less blorbo got to do in s4 but when some of his anti says especially fan of that guy says that he did nothing I feel like fighting them(which I dont bcz of their lack of media literacy and for my own mental health). Like he their fav guy did practically nothing in entire season. He didnt saved anyone life (if anyone give max's life saving credit to him I will just explode), didn't figured out any mystery with his tiny brain, didnt even had any emotional or deep scene, didn't fight anyone,even in the last ep creel house scene he was just standing their. It was Robin and Nancy who did all the work for hawkins grp.( If he did something was touching the watergate which activated the hive mind which led to him being dragged to UD whicb led to Nancy and robin jumping after him bcz of survival guilt making their life difficult.If he wouldn't have doubted Nancy and let her go there is no way she would have done that.) On the other hand he jonathan made this whole plan of escaping from cali, saved mike and will,took everyone to utah,helped save el,helped her piggyback to save everyone else and ofc his scene with will had so much emotions and depth. Even for comic purpose cali crew was way better than whatever banter they were trying to show with him and dustin. Like yes he had more screen time but for most of it he was just existing there not doing anything.

Honestly I try not to bash on a certain character too much because I enjoy my peaceful existence here. But simultaneously I did argue last week that s4 is Jonathan's best after s1 and I think for me a large part of that is the agency in his own storyline.

Like whether or not people want to acknowledge it, he makes the choice for the Cali Crew to try to get to Hawkins. Granted he spends a bunch of time being the getaway driver but still he's the one who approaches Mike and Will. And without them finding and rescuing El who knows how bad things could've gone.

In contrast, s4 for Steve really feels like he's just there. Like if we want to point fingers at guy who's just driving others around we need to talk about Steve existing as the “babysitter”. Furthermore, the choices he does make (jumping into the lake, pursuing Nancy 🙄) end in cringefail.

Like for me personally s4 hammers home that they haven't known what to do with Steve for a long time. There's this vague idea of an RV and six children but you can see Nancy's face fall and you see him slunk away. Which imo that's a resolution for the “revival” , even if stans want to argue otherwise.

Whereas Jonathan's storyline puts him back into the limelight. His entire plot of college evolves his entire network of relationships, not just Nancy. We know his fears, we see them directly contrast his wants. We see him lie about his letter which leaves his plot open to resolve in s5.

TLDR: Jonathan has agency in his s4 story and Steve doesn't

so like, conceptually speaking, a conspiracy theorist character who's overly invested in both The Plot and A Wheeler and breaks through to nancy when she's lied to herself about her true feelings and who she wants to be and who she wants to be with for so long is like. I see what they're going for. I see the vision. however, in practice, it's creepy and all these grown men need to stay OUT of nancy wheeler's love/sex life

okokok so someone has probably already written this BUT

what if Eddie never tried to be a hero? never left that trailer in the upside down, never left dustin alone, etc. they both survive (I'm going with vecna was defeated so without someone controlling them they drop dead all at the same time)

but there's a frantic call on the walkie coming from Nancy

Steve is taken down somehow. Weak and still breathing, still has a pulse, but her and Robin need help moving him

Eddie and Dustin make it over as fast as possible

Eddie barely managed to get Steve out from under a near hysterical Robin. Steve is in and out of coherency, it seems like he took another hit to his head.

Eddie just keeps talking in an effort to keep him awake until they can get him to a hospital, to keep from breaking down himself.

"You know, never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I'd have Steve Harrington in my arms like this."

"You dreamin' about me, Munson?" Steve slurs back. He has the ghost of a smile on his face.

The frightened tears Eddie's been successfully keeping at bay so far suddenly threaten to spill. "Yeah, and I'll tell you all about it later, you just gotta stay with us, alright? Promise." His voice is shaking. He can feel Steve start to go further limp against his chest.

Steve hums as his eyes start to flutter closed. "'M gonna hold you to that."

Eddie tries to jostle him back to full consciousness. "Steve? You gotta stay awake, man, okay? Steve, you hear me?" Eddie loons down only to find Steve's face has gone totally slack; he can't tell if he's even breathing.

Goddamnit, Steve. Eddie breaks out running towards the gate that's finally in sight, grateful for the adrenaline still coursing through him. He'll be damned if Steve doesn't make it back, even at his own expense.

first up, we have steve as captain america because, yeah. it's a steve thing. i also thought about harrington in the cap suit from TWS and lost my mind. he's not a one-to-one copy of steve rogers, because steve harrington does not fit that mold at all, it's mostly just a title in this one.

then we have nancy as the hawkeye of the group. this one feels self explanatory.

robin as the black widow! she works as both as a natasha and yelena figure. typical black widow things ya know. (robin and nancy have a prequel before this au! just to establish them.)

and finally!! eddie as the winter soldier. this draws heavy on the whole kas!eddie thing. you know what'll happen here. the whole "who the hell is eddie?" reveal. some gay pining. some gay pain. the works.
