Ink Review: New Kyo-no-oto Inks
Kyoto TAG has released two new inks in their Kyo-no-oto line: Seiheki and Yurushiiro. As with all inks in this line, the ink comes packaged in heavy card stock with the ink line in letterpress print. A big thank you to Dromgoole’s for sending these bottles for review! Both Seiheki and Yurushiiro come in 40mL glass bottles priced at $28 a bottle bringing the ink to $0.70 per mL – not an…

technically i dont NEED the Hobonichi Techo to enjoy journaling more... i already have a Stalogy 365 journal that i love using and am only halfway through AND i have a 2nd one ready to go once i fill this one up!! its already got all the same good stuff (size, paper quality, grid, page ct, etc) like the thing i WANT out of it is just to treat my own journal a tiny bit differently (draw in it more & take it less seriously & draw the date a little cuter at the top to mimic the hobonichi's cuteness...) trying to redirect my desire into buying a new ink instead...
#save me journal i already have#journal i already have save me#btw the ink i want is Takeda Jimuki Kyo No Oto Hisoku#cant afford it rn but will look at it a lot until i can#im rambling hiii i lvoeyou guys#stationery#autismposting

Happy fountain pen day!!
I only recently got into this hobby a few months ago, but I’m really happy with my collection so far! My Platinum Sakura maki-e pen and Sailor Shikiori pens remain my favourite, but my TWSBI Eco and Kaweco Sport are workhorses fr.
Regarding inks: Sailor Shikiori Shito-shito was my first bottle of ink ever (and remains one of my favourites). Wearingeul’s Sedna, Colorverse’s Grand Prism, and TAG Stationery’s Kyo no Oto No. 13 Seiheki, are the newest in my collection! All purchased at Scriptus, Toronto’s very own pen show 😊 (of the 3 new inks, Seiheki is my favourite, but it’s not particularly fountain pen friendly!).
(And yes, I do love teals and turquoises…)

THANK YOU. I love this YouTuber so much because HE GETS IT.
Okay my a million analyses besides, obviously Byakuya is emotionally unintelligent and they (the fandom) try to make it out as the “faux pas” of his judgement during this trial which makes him “stupid”. But the way it’s presented… it’s not…
Kyo//ko and Mak//oto (if I recall) both had information that Byakuya didn’t have that allowed them to make the correct judgement; it’s actually a pretty unfair trial to Byakuya.
If anything, what MBH outlines here is that Byakuya’s charcater flaw is primarily in his rigid thinking and mentality — conformity to rules and ideas that justify his viewpoint because that’s the way he copes with the world: logically. The chapter does directly outlines his lack of emotional intelligence earlier (Kyo//ko literally said it would hit him in the face), but it’s honestly not really what the trial is about. As a generally emotional and empathetic person, Hin//a’s motivations make close to no sense to me at all either; let alone for a purely logical thinker.
Your takeaway of his charcater shouldn’t be “he is stupid and got clowned on,” it’s a further understanding of his thinking and character as a whole.

how do u decide what ink colors to get? i keep getting colors i really really like that speak to me but now i have a bunch of really similar colors 😵💫
It really is hard to stop yourself from gravitating toward colours you like haha, if those are your favourites and they spark joy for you, there's nothing wrong with that either!
I think what helps me is swatching my inks into a notebook/journal so I can get the full picture of what I currently have as opposed to just looking at my bottles. I also like to create a palette when I fill my pens, so sometimes I'll look for different colours to "fill the gap" when I'm ink shopping. Having the swatches in my journal helps when I go to physical stores as well.
A few of my inks look similar to each other too but I notice differences in behaviour and/or appearances when I use them (e.g. J Herbin Vert Empire vs Sailor Tokiwa-matsu, Kyo no Oto Yamabuki-iro vs Sailor Moroccan Mint Tea) so it's ok to have inks of the same colours!

Ginkaisyoku by kyo -no-oto
Carrie had not expected the request to be so reasonable. Honestly, she hadn’t expected there to be a request at all. Neither had she expected to find something— much less someone— when she enrolled in an elf-identification (the pamphlet was very clear on this point; this was not “elf-spotting”) course. This course was for the show, though, so she took it seriously. If an elf was asking her to follow him, she wanted to know. And now someone was in front of her, at the end of her first practice search, asking if Carrie would just follow him back to the house. There wasn’t a house. Carrie had tried to discreetly scan the forest behind the oddly-dressed individual, but saw nothing except more forest behind him. Her teacher had warned her to watch for shimmer at the corner of her eye and thorns hidden in an otherwise warm handshake. Neither suggestion was helpful.
The fandom: Oh No Ross and Carrie Podcaster RPF The characters: Carrie Poppy The Prompt: From Drop Kick Writer’s Block
The ink: Ginkaisyoku by kyo -no-oto The colour: Grayish blue with blue shimmer Special properties: Shimmer The pen: Kaweco sport, medium nib.
I've been using this ink a month. For a shimmer ink it is smooth-writing and I didn’t have any issues with clogging, which I seem to experience a lot with shimmer inks. However, when I started the writing sprint, I noticed a lot of starting and stopping. I figure as long as you write slowly, and fairly big, it’s a better experience. It plays nice with corner doodles, which is a plus, though I’m not much for drawing generally.
The colour is this washed out blue-gray that I just love. It builds up on itself as you write with it and can shade, but it took a little bit of work to get a lot of shading out of it. The shimmer is light blue and very subtle. It was hard for me to coax it out unless I had a light like my camera flash shining right at it. When you can see it, though, it really adds a little something to it. The overall effect was a lot like sitting out in the fog.
You can see from the picture that I had a lot of trouble with consistency of the line it lays down. Great for art projects, not so much for long writing sessions. It was really, really hard to write fast with this, though given the ink’s general fanciness, I’m not super surprised. I did have a lot of fun playing with it this month, though.

kono oto tomare part 1
i dont have strong feelings about the first part of Kono Oto Tomare but i'll just note the things
i can't stop comparing it to chihayafuru, so that might get brought up alot 😅
i was really rooting for takezo and chika, and they really do have good interactions and a good bond but i guess as for ship i was expecting (hoping for) more. maybe because takezo isn't an entire wimp (i guess i was expecting sakamichi yowapeda) and is also a year older than most of the club that i dont think they'll ever be as tight as i would like.
one of my least favorite things that happen in "sports” series is when they need a large cast so they bring in a group (usually 3 or more) and then they never really develope the group as individuals. So im talking about kota, saneyasu and michitaka. They do get individual lines here and there but aside from Kota who got a few stand out moments, they generally are always just “the gang that came with chika”. Eventually they are part of the group but i wish they’d spread out a little more, give them something different.
I guess i was also projecting because i wanted to like kurusu so much, i love gyaru characters in settings they shouldn’t be in and i was hoping for something like hanano in chihayafuru, but kurusu’s character/story just really felt like they added a girl just to have another girl in the group. Unfortunately it looks like shes also there to be takezo’s love interest, but i'm not huge on.
If it wasn't already obvious by my tastes, im hard passing on chika/houzuki. Not because they are the ship that is being pushed on me, i dont mind the main het ship sometimes (kyo/tohru), but because i guess i dont like their dynamic. If its the rough ice queen type girl, i personally would prefer her to be with someone on the cheery side (could be another girlfriend, i was rooting for kota/houzuki when he glomped her that time). Its because theyre the bickering type too, the exact type of ship i dislike.
I dont dislike houzuki tho. Shes a fine character and necessary in their group. I want to say theyre a good trio but i think that takezo’s kind of lacking sometimes. Maybe id like to see more houzuki and takezo interactions, maybe i though takezo’s trauma was rather weak.
Chika (i dont want to say unfortunately because its not a bad thing) steals most of the show, and i actually really love is story with is grandfather. The amount of times i cried 😭
I am also pretty interested in Takinami. It’s not the first time seeing this kind of character, and im lowkey mad i spoiled myself by looking at his profile on MAL before i got his backstory, but i love seeing characters who lost their passion/never had one/became apathetic but then found it (again), and found something to love and care about. Also his interactions with takezo
Im not going to be a stickler for animation because you can see them trying to get away with not actually animating the koto playing until ep13. I mean i wouldn’t know anything, but i think ep13 was really impressive so im not going to complain.
Anyway, i only finished the first part, so i’m looking forward to the rest of it, considering we didnt even get the competition results yet.

KOKIA in flashback - 2015
The year of 2015 sees KOKIA go on tour in Japan again for the first time in a while, to 'sow the seeds of her music' across the country. She has a lot of radio appearances to promote the tour, which runs from March to April.
She also has a big spring venue performance to promote her new album: I Found You. She does mention how her plans for next year mean there won't be a big spring performance in 2016, so this will be the last one for the forseeable future.
And then, at the KOKIA salon event for fan club members, KOKIA reveals she's pregnant! She's expecting her baby in January 2016, meaning that her final performance of the year in Kawaguchiko in October is starting to cut it close, especially since it's half-open air. Yet despite the cold, she really enjoys this concert, feeling very connected to nature, especially with Mount Fuji showing up in the backdrop.

Aya's smile falters a little bit as Kyo responds- something tells her that letting the human in on her antics might've not been the best idea....
"Um. Uh. Hmmm...," the Ogerpon mutters, slowly starting to lean away from Kyo. "My Oto-San can do spooky psychic stuff but. Uh. I don't think you'll be able to reach him from here. Hehe...." Aya laughs awkwardly. "So. Um. Uh. Bye-" Suddenly, the Ogerpon gets up and runs away from Kyo, abandoning her sandcastle.
(askthewhiterocket) Wandering near the beach with her Meowstic on her shoulder, Kyo spotted Aya in the process of making her sandcastle and drew her brows together in confusion. She looked around frantically for a moment before drawing closer and bending down near Aya. "Excuse me, little one, but... where are your parents? Are you here by yourself?"
“My dads always say I should be carful and I can’t go down into the villages, but I’ve met so many people and they’ve all been so nice! And there was this fun festival that wasn’t even in a village on the island- so, I went by myself!” Aya explains with pride. “I’m sure they’ll be fine, they won’t even notice I’m gone!”
Meanwhile, back in the mountains….
“KENJI!!”
“I checked Aya’s playhouse!! She’s not there!”
“Wh-what about the rest of the house??? Your workshop?? The garden???” Tomo asks. The Monkedori curled his hands into fists, trying to keep them from shaking.
“Y-yes, and she’s not there!” Kenji sputtered, sweat beading on his forehead and slipping down his cheeks. “I-I’ll go double check- I-“
“I’ll fly around,” Miu spoke up, tone stern. “I’ll ask Ichigo and check all the other places she likes. Don’t worry, she- or whoever is behind this- can’t have gone too far.”

TAG Kyoto Kyo-no-oto Ginkaisyoku
Intro: Hello! This blog aims to test light inks in fountain pens with fine nibs to see if such inks are fine nib-friendly enough. I love light inks but I prefer writing with fountain pens with fine nibs. That doesn't usually make a good combo, but that's why I think it's good to test them together.
Disclaimer: This post is not sponsored.
Today's ink is TAG's Kyo-no-oto Ginkaisyoku (in Japanese, 「銀灰色」 meaning "silver grey"), the first shimmer ink I'm reviewing. I don't actually use shimmer inks but if I see an ink colour I like enough and it happens to have shimmer, I'll give it a try.
Ginkaisyoku is a lovely grey with bluish undertones and silver shimmer.
^ Attempts to show you the shimmer LOL. Just take my word for it that it's more visible in person when you tilt the paper!
🍓 I gave this a 4/5 fine nib-friendliness rating because I tried it a bit on Rhodia paper (no pictures! I use my Rhodia Ice Notepad for scratch paper purposes and to blot stuff) and the ink felt dry, especially with the Kakuno (EF) nib. I wouldn't use this ink on Rhodia paper.
🍓 I really like the subtle shimmer and the Preppy (F) showed it best. I haven't tried inking the pen to see if the shimmer will clog the feed long-term, so use it with caution. When I do try it in the far future, I'll update this post.
(The text of the writing samples came from The Night Sky Month by Month (2011) by Giles Sparrow and Will Gater, p. 28.)
Cheers, Aisha ☆彡

Ink Review: Kyo-no-oto Ruriiro and Ryokuyuiro
Ink Review: Kyo-no-oto Ruriiro and Ryokuyuiro
Kyo-no-oto recently released two new inks – Ruriiro and Ryokuyuiro – a deep blue ink and a dark, dusty green. But these two inks contain a surprise – sparkle. Thank you to Dromgoole’s for sending these inks for review! Kyo-no-oto is known for releasing ink colors inspired by places or cultural items in Japan. Ruriiro refers to Lapis Lazuli or Ultramarine. Ryokuyu is green leaves and I’ve found…
