Have you played the Root board game?
I've played the steam version once or twice with my partner, it's not really my cup of tea. Kyle Ferrin's art is phenomenal though!

Session Report: Root.
𝗥𝗼𝗼𝘁 by Leder Games and designed by Cole Wehrle with Kyle Ferrin as an Artist, doesn’t need a lot of words, I guess, as by now, everybody in the boardgaming community knows, how great this game is. Since a couple of months, we have a monthly get together at our local boardgame bar Das Brett, to dive deeper into the game, cause this deserves to get played regularly. Not only are we trying out…

Arcs Coming to Digital from Dire Wolf Games in 2026
Arcs Coming to Digital from Dire Wolf Games in 2026 @direwolfdigital.bsky.social @leder.games
I didn’t think I’d be posting today, but getting an email from Dire Wolf Digital kind of forced me to! One of the big sensations currently in the boardgaming world is Arcs from Leder Games. Designed by Cole Wehrle with artwork by Kyle Ferrin, Leder Games published this game this last Summer (2024 for those reading in the future). I have sadly not played it, but I watched the Heavy Cardboard…

Board game artwork
Root (artist, Kyle Ferrin):
Root has a whymsical feel to its artwork and character designs and I like the earthy colour palette the game uses throughout its visuals. The medieval style font used for the title along with the animal patterns within the coloured boxes gives for an interesting and well thought out design. I think the overall box illustration portrays the game's themes of adventure and conflict through it's characters and how their positioned in the scene.
Equinox (artist, Chris Quilliams):
Equinox has nice and well thought out creature designs that are complemented by beutiful, warm toned colour palettes that create this fantasy atmosphere that can be seen through out the game. With this game relying on strong and interesting character designs to catch peoples attention, card layouts are something that can be utilized to help this. Putting the characters at the forefront of the cards (which is what this game did) makes for a straight forward but eye catching composition that can be easily followed.
Bristol 1350 (artist, Sarah Keele):
The art style used for these drawings complement the dark and somewhat gruesome themeing of the game with the illustrations used on the cards depicting quite gritty and macabre scenes. I also quite like the weathered look the game has as it strengthens the games world building. The card composition for this game is quite different compared to the ones seen in equinox as they remind me of tarot cards in terms of how there set out and the border style used around the drawing.
