One day Kuzco felt jealous of his friend, Pacha, for having a children, so he decided to have a child of his own to experience the sparks of fatherhood.

But not in the way you think, the emperor didn't get married and have a child... No, that would take too long for him.

So, instead, he kidnaps adopts a baby, which happened to be you.

Because he found you too cute and also cuddly, so he took you from your parents by force and claimed you as his child.

He gave you his precious old toys to play with, and had you wear miniature outfit that resembles his own.

The day you get sick, the whole palace and empire has to suffer Kuzco's sadness.

The young emperor loved to show you off.

He waited months to hear your first word, and when you finally uttered it, it was 'Mama'

You called your nursery maid 'mama' so he had her thrown off a cliff.

"You don't need a mother, you only need me, your father, my sweet baby"

I was asked to be a guest artist for the @twosidesfanzine recipe book zine and it was with great enthusiasm that I illustrated an Emperor's New Groove themed piece!

The only real prompt I had for this piece was that it had to include the associated recipe (meat pies) and something with the diner from the movie. Otherwise, I was free to be as zany as possible. So I went all out with the craziness! This was an extra-complicated piece with the background, perspective, and multiple characters, but ultimately a good challenge and learning experience. Plus, any excuse to draw the Emperor’s New Groove characters is a good excuse! I kept telling people that drawing Yzma a little off-model is okay so long as she’s scary beyond all reason 😂

i've been wanting to do more with cusi lately, like flesh her out and stuff. (also getting over myself and posting what i do have even if it's """"unfinished"""" bc i was trying to save this until i had a fully written bio to show, but with the way things are-- yeah no one would be seeing this for another 20,000 years)

anyway i love characters who begin to change into the best version of themselves through the power of friendship, getting humbled, and getting their asses handed back to them because they deserve it.

The 90s/early 2000s was the best Disney era for male protagonists

This isn't all of them, but these were the best of them, imo. And this is just the characters; how I felt about their movies varies. I hope more Disney films in the future feature male leads--especially musicals! Aladdin, Hercules, and Quasimodo are the only human male protagonists in a musical where they sang substantively (thus eliminating Tarzan, Mowgli, Simba, and Arthur).
