ANOTHER RANDOM OUT OF CONTEXT HEADCANON: This quote, from the episode where 'termites' infest Pacha's hut and 'force' Kuzco to move back to the Palace, implies something very important; Kuzco thinks Pacha, and more importantly-- Pacha's HUT and FAMILY are SAFE. When he was first kicked out of the palace and had to figure out where he should go, his first thought when it came to 'safety' was to find Pacha-- implying that even back then, and probably at some point by the end of the movie Kuzco saw Pacha as a father figure/best friend.

Their shared 'fox hole' experience in defeating Yzma and turning Kuzco back into a human solidified their bond, something Kuzco has never had before, and immediately made the connection for him; Pacha = Safety/protection.

I'm probably thinking way too much about a throw away quote from the show but, c'mon.

Mata was was a character intended to be in an earlier version of Disney’s The Emperor’s New Groove called Kingdom In The Sun. She would have been a love interest for Kuzco and would have aided him on his journey. She appears to have had a sarcastic personality, calling Kuzco “llama boy”. She was designed by Joe Moshier, while Sandro Cleuzo was to be her supervising animator. After the story underwent several changes, the name Mata was eventually used for the waitress at Mudka’s Meat Hut. (x)

RANDOM, completely out of context headcanon: Chicha was the one who taught and got Kuzco into yoga. Or as he rebranded it; Kuzcyoga. Initially he couldn't figure out why someone would want to twist themselves into a pretzel, and how it was supposed to be calming. Chicha convinced him to try it with her in the early stages of him living with them, mostly to keep him busy and he slowly started to really enjoy it. Especially when he found that it helped him limber up when it came to dancing. Now it's an almost daily regimen.
