Disaster | Kakashi Hatake
Synopsis | This was getting out of both of their hands and it was time to talk about it. Content | fem!reader, nonsense, smooth talk, established relationship, engagement, wedding planning, mention of sex. Words | 1,847. Author's note | I hope you like it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was a wonderful morning, and both of their days off after various missions and busy schedules. Stretching your muscles on your bed first thing in the morning was essential, it usually let Kakashi know you were awake when he wasn't possessively surrounding you from behind and with her face in the crook of your neck, which was almost never.
After the rubbing of bodies in which each one readjusted themselves against the other, the greeting of good morning came, either by saying it or with a kiss, and then moving on to their routine, which consisted directly of morning sex.
But that morning wasn't like that, there was spectacular weather, and you had also stretched, but the night before you and Kakashi had been planning your wedding, staying up until the wee hours of the morning, at some point, you had gone to the shared bed, believing he had followed shortly after, but that was not the case. Now you wanted to know where your dear future husband was.
When you left the room you got the answer, he had fallen asleep on the couch, probably choosing something from one of all the things on the long list that rather than helping to organize, only overwhelmed them.
You poured coffee into one of those mugs with a motivational quote. Kakashi, already awake and watching from the couch, let out a laugh at the contrast between the message 'live, laugh, love' and your expression, which warned of committing a hate crime against anyone who pushed you over the edge.
He tasted the caffeine on your lips with a kiss after standing up and walking towards you, and he took the cup with him.
Overwhelmed you looked at the dining table, which they had occupied as their planning area. Everything was in chaos; neither of them had had time, and what little time they had was spent on wedding-related matters.
Kakashi snapped up the board with the list of tasks and other papers, ran his fingers over some before stopping at a section.
–Have we already gone over the coordination of the wedding procession? –He read that with difficulty, without knowing that there was a concept with all those words together.
–What about what? –You asked, approaching from behind and looking where his eyes did as well. You let out another long sigh.
You didn't know when everything had escalated into piles of things to do, or maybe you did?
They had both agreed that it would be something small, simple, and without too many people, quiet and without the need to invite people they didn't want out of obligation.
One afternoon, gathering as they had done before, Kurenai, at a sensitive moment that evening, had mentioned that she and Asuma had briefly discussed their ceremony. He wanted something grand, a celebration that included everyone they cared about. The Sarutobi said that it was not every day that one met the love of one's life, and that it deserved to be shared with those who have accompanied them on the journey.
Kakashi, who generally preferred quiet and privacy, couldn't help but imagine what it would be like to share that moment with more of his friends and loved ones. The idea of seeing all those who had been a part of his life, gathered together in a celebration of love and joy, began to seem less intrusive and more… comforting.
When he mentioned it you couldn't help but look at him with tenderness on your face, having reached the point with Kakashi that he confessed that to you with complete confidence made your heart skip a beat. You weren't going to say no, not when he looked at you with those eyes for which you would do anything. After what Kurenai had said, a slightly larger celebration, with laughter, hugs, and old friends, felt strangely right.
The problem came later when somehow everyone began to give their opinion on what a wedding, their wedding, should be like.  Soon, they started to lose sight of what they really wanted, morphing the initial concept from something simple to something that was now out of their hands.
–You definitely need a live band! –Guy exclaimed, with his usual enthusiasm. –Something that makes everyone get up and dance. And don't forget to include some friendly competition to liven up the night!
–Competition? –Sakura replied, amused. –I think it is more important to focus on decoration. Imagine a garden full of white flowers and hanging lights. It would be so beautiful and romantic.
Naruto, ever cheerful, quickly intervened. –But there also has to be ramen! You can´t miss! It would be great to have a ramen cart so everyone can eat as much as they want.
Ino, who had been listening attentively, added: –And the dress, of course. It has to be something spectacular. Make Kakashi-Sensei himself wonder if it's true that you're getting married!
You had only gone to leave a couple of reports from the academy at the Hokage tower, so the intervention of the group of shinobi startled you as you turned around and found them in the doorway.
You agreed to his requests and mentioned them to Kakashi, who accepted without question. The problem was that they started adopting other people's ideas, assuming the other would also want them but never expressing it to avoid overwhelming each other.
After the close circle gave their opinion, outsiders, who they didn't even know, also began to do so.
–Congratulations on the engagement. –a Sand ninja whom Kakashi had met on a mission said. Kakashi gave a strange look but thanked him nonetheless, with his usual kindness. –In Suna, there's a traditional dance. It's a beautiful way to unite everyone present. Have you thought about including some type of dance or performance?
–We had´t thought about that detail. –He confessed, placing a hand on the back of his neck guiltily, feeling like a bad future husband. –We will consider it.
Similar encounters happened with you. A merchant from a nearby village, familiar with both of you from various missions over the years, noticed the engagement ring on your finger and couldn't resist asking if the 'silver-haired boy' had finally taken the plunge.
When responding, he mentioned that if they wanted something truly unique during the ceremony, they should consider a bonding ritual with colored ribbons.
Your first thought was “What the fuck is that?” but you didn't say it aloud, nor did your face betray your confusion. You didn't ask about it, yet somehow it ended up on your lists.
Although the most difficult thing to choose was a date, now that was also at stake due to everything that remained to be organized and quoted, with little time left. You bit the inside of your cheek looking at the almanac with dates written down by you and Kakashi, and with notable exhaustion you rested your chin on the top of Kakashi's head, who was still sitting in the dining room with the papers in his hands.
«This is a disaster.» They both thought without mentioning it. Neither wanted to ruin what the other wanted, but it was being too much, so in unison they let out a –What if...?
Their eyes met, laughing at the compatibility. You sat next to Kakashi who told you to speak first, you took his hands in yours, being about to do something that had been lost little by little since they started planning the wedding: Be honest.
–I think that with all this about the ceremony, the things that we had in mind at the beginning are simply… They are not there. And yes, I don't know... –You hesitated for a moment. –... do we return to the simplicity that we wanted from the beginning?
Kakashi sighed with relief, a goofy smile on his lips. –I thought you were going to say you didn't want to marry me anymore.
-What? No, for God's sake! You're not going to get rid of me that easily. –you joke, finding calm in his eyes.
–I had also started to feel like things were getting out of hand. –Kakashi looked at you tenderly, his expression softening. His fingers gently caressed yours, giving you a sense of comfort. –The truth is that I have felt overwhelmed with all the plans and expectations. I don't need this – he turned briefly to look at the stack of brochures and documents. –, all I want is to be with you.
You smiled, feeling warmth in your chest. –We have always been good at simplifying things, right? –You said, remembering the times when you both found joy in the simple.
Kakashi nodded, his eyes shining with affection. –It's what I like most about us.
You leaned towards him, resting your head on his shoulder. He was right, from the beginning of your relationship as just friends things had always developed naturally, it was true that they never asked for anything but the other always gave everything, you were sorry that things became a little complicated due to the lack of communication, but you were good that they were back to normal.
Kakashi hugged you, the warmth of him enveloping you. –Although I think that what we like most about us is you. –He lightened the atmosphere once you saw him again, as if you hadn't known each other for a lifetime, going from best friends to a couple and now to a future husband, he placed a lock of hair behind your ear, looking at your face sweetly.
You felt a surge of love and gratitude towards him. –Thank you for being my partner in all of this. I don't know what I would do without you.
Kakashi smiled, kissing your forehead softly. –I love you too. –He responded with a smile, that while you hadn't said those exact words, it was implicit.
They both stayed silent for a moment, enjoying the closeness and tranquility of being together. In that instant, you knew they had made the right decision. It didn't matter how big or small the wedding was; What mattered was that they were together, ready to face the future as they always had: as soulmates who complemented each other perfectly.
Finally, Kakashi broke the silence with a spark of humor in his eyes. –Well, at least now we can focus on what's really important.
–And what would that be? –You asked, curious.
Kakashi smiled widely, his tone full of mischief. –Organize the honeymoon, of course.
You laughed, feeling relief and heat rising to your cheeks. -That sounds perfect to me.
At those words they were enough to gently pull you to her body, he let out a soft laugh as he held you firmly by the waist, and began to plant several cloying and loud kisses on your cheek.
–Now if you also agree, I would like to start our favorite routine. –Without waiting he lifted you from the waist and spoke again after leaving a kiss on your lips. –Do you prefer it this way or in a more wedding-like style?

are you still taking requests? if yes, can you maybe write about obkk with kakashi being obvious about his feelings for obito while obito is oblivious? except he's not really oblivious, he just acts that way bc he doesn't think he deserves kakashi's love?
I'm always taking requests!
Before I share my take on this one, I recommend Fool's Gold by Anjelle with a similar dynamic to your ask!
---
Kakashi cooks him a bento and Obito freaks out.
It's uncommon for Kakashi to feed himself, so wanting to feed someone else is definitely a surprise.
Guy tears up when he hears Kakashi made Obito a bento but when offered the same bento by Obito he vehemently rejects it because that one was obviously specifically made for Obito and he wouldn't dare take someone else's food!
Obito eats the bento. Hidden among the trees.
Kakashi slowly begins increasing the amount of time they spend together. Obito tries to keep it professional, but they end up staring at the sunset, reading books, or sharing meals most of the time.
Asuma asks Obito one day how their dates are going.
Obito denies ever having dates with Kakashi. They are just comrades. Comrades sometimes share meals, they work together so it makes sense they have lunch breakfast, and dinner sometimes together, too!
Kurenai asks about the times they are just browsing through books together and Obito assures her they just go together because they have very different tastes in books so they learn from what the other reads.
Kurenai asks how his reading through Icha Icha Paradise is going, then and Obito plays dead.
Obito tries to distance himself from Kakashi a little and to his surprise Kakashi actually relents and lets him have his alone time.
But, Obito misses him, actually.
He tries not to show it because he thinks if Kakashi spends more time with his own friends and meets other people, he is going to eventually find someone who is good enough for him, not a clan embarrassment like Obito who the Hokage dislikes and came last on every test when he was a child.
One day Obito is just suffering in silence watching the sunset by himself and Guy suddenly appears by his side, saying he noticed Obito has been kinda down, and asks him if everything is okay.
Obito says he is fine, he just has to ignore his feelings.
Guy immediately scolds him for ignoring his feelings! He should be listening to them and honoring their value in his life, Obito has the right to feel however he feels!
Obito confesses he doesn't think he deserves to feel the way he feels and that in any way Kakashi is probably going to be better off with someone else who is actually good for him.
Guy gets upset then because Kakashi is his very best rival and if Kakashi is winning in the love department it would be unfair and against the rules (what rules? Obito thinks) for Obito to sabotage Kakashi's success! How would Guy look? To win over a stolen victory is the worst loss of them all!
He encourages Obito and asks him to please respect Kakashi, he is perfectly capable of making the choice of who he wants or doesn't want in his life.
He also tells Obito they are going to meet to train from now on because his self-esteem is severely lacking, and Guy cannot see that and do nothing.
Obito is dreading the meet and while trying to escape Guy he ends up meeting Kakashi who is surprised to see him but welcomes his company.
They end up in a dango shop having some tea and sweets and they are actually having a very nice conversation, Obito is making googly eyes at Kakashi without noticing when he feels a strong presence at the entrance of the shop and when he turns, Guy is looking straight at him with a big smile, a wink and a thumbs up.
Obito covers his face in embarrassment and doesn't see how Kakashi returns the wink and thumbs up to Guy.

sticking this under a readmore because its literally just notes & me talking to myself about character relationships. all of it is subject to change
Hasami's initial opinions on other genin, and their opinions on her:
Naruto - avoids because he's The Main Character and she doesnt want to fuck that up, but also. he's actually really annoying. yes she has sympathy for him but also oh my god dude. / naruto is somewhat friendly with kiba but if you pressed him he could not tell you her name. dog girl??
Sakura - okay look she wants to like her, because she is cool. but also. they really dont click that well as kids. its no ones fault. maybe tries to push her to be a little rowdier in the academy, because sakura SHOULD punch out a guy for being annoying. doesnt really interact with much until chuunin exams where she promptly sticks her foot in her mouth because apparently when sakura graduated the academy she started buying scentless shampoo, on kakashi's recommendation. she did not know that it was specifically dog shampoo until hasami pointed that out THANKS. sakura warms up to her a little more during the exams because teammate bond and also because hasami is one of the few people whose reaction to sakura being able to punch down a tree is "that fucking RULES holy shit". eventual friends
Sasuke - listen. she knows he is a dick, and also will defect and also doesnt care about anyone other than naruto. unfortunately he DOES have uchiha pretty privilege. even if she didn't have adult memories crammed into her brain she wouldn't be a fangirl, but like. she understands where they're coming from. / Sasuke does not give a single solitary shit about her, obviously.
------
Ino - ino is very likeable and charismatic, not in a "Shes my friend" way but in a "everyone in class can talk with her easily". shes the queen bee of the class. also from an adult perspective dear god her crush on sakura is obvious. immediately after the academy she runs down ino and asks for her help in choosing an actually good shampoo because apparently her entire family is insane. Ino laughs at her the entire time but also does point out a good brand. Post chuunin exams theyre friendlier on account of Hasami being on good terms with Sakura, but they're not super close. friendly colleagues, sorta.
Chouji - good natured and easy to get along with. I figure the reason chouji being called fat is a berserk button is because it was probably a routine insult in the academy, and hasami therefore gets friend points for A: being one of the only girls who doesnt care about his weight at all, and B: trades snacks. she will go halfsies on some homemade jerky if you share your bbq chiiiippss~
Shikamaru - as a character he's cool, especially in shippuden. as a person, he is. grating. can you be normal about women, please. / she's a girl, therefore, probably a pain.
-------
Kiba - cousin! not exactly sibling but inuzuka clan is familial enough that sleepovers are a semi routine thing. they noogie each other. (kiba noogies her more when he gets his growth spurt) lots of playfighting as kids, ESPECIALLY when puppies get involved. becomes more involved after [spoilers]
Hinata - they just dont have much in common, frankly! tsume and kurenai have the teams be sparring partners occasionally, buuut thats it
Shino - bug phobia is slightly lessened and ninja training helps her to quash it but also jesus fucking christ dude there is a beetle crawling out of your eyesocket bWUUGHhghhg. she doesnt have anything against him personally its instinctive im sorry. / she hates bugs, therefore he does not like her. he will take it personally, thank you.
-------
Tenten - no interaction in academy due to year difference. she might show up on a random C-rank…? it takes very little time for hasami to go "oh shes got like slight autism and a special interest in all things stabby. good for her." (this is based on her reaction to legendary weapons in the war arc and how she acts in the mirai short.) tenten uses SUPER BASIC fuuinjutsu that begins and ends with storage scrolls. despite this, hasami asks her about it once and the explanation still makes zero fucking sense. what math are you talking about that is all kanji. what the fuck?? / tenten likes hasami's knives and how their shape makes them stronger for close combat but ill suited to throwing, can she borrow them
Lee - bro you gotta rein it in a little bit / lee finds her training regimen (tsume setting dogs on her) inspiring!! when they return to konoha, he will fasten himself a harness made of sausages and do the same!!!!!!!
Neji - literally only meets him AFTER naruto has knocked some sense into him. he's still abrasive but he's not EXCEPTIONALLY rude unless he has a reason to dislike you. they might get partnered up on a mission that involves tracking, because they can cover weaknesses. (ie: he has precision up close, she can track things that are no longer THERE)

For Them to Have Your Eyes: Fear
That was the first and only baby Kakashi would be giving birth to. He was sure of it. Yeah, the beginning hadn’t been too bad, but the last couple of months in which he had started to have problems to control his chakra and his equilibrium was that of a duck on drugs, were being too much for him. And that was without talking about the new hobby the kid seemed to have developed during the last few days: kicking his kidneys. It felt like they were trying to practice the Konoha Senpu even before being born.
So, if Gai and him wanted another child at some point, they would have to adopt.
For the Hatake, it was not only the annoyance of the pregnancy itself —whoever said it was a ‘wonderful’ experience had surely not been pregnant—, but also the unease it brought to him. He was long passed the phase in which he could dissimulate the state with clothes, his belly big and round. Looking at himself in front of the mirror was too hard most of the times, the figure greeting him back almost unrecognizable. It didn’t matter how often Gai said he was handsome and perfect, the dysphoria would always be there. Which, of course, only got worse once he entered the third trimester and his hormones became even more crazy. Oh, the joy.
At some point, he had decided to isolate himself from the outer world, not leaving the house unless it was to pick up some papers from the office, visit the hospital or escape to the forest for a walk with his pack whenever he managed to escape Gai’s overprotection.
That didn’t mean he had ceased interacting with other people, most of them just coming to their house instead. His and Gai’s teams were frequent visitors, as well as Kurenai and some of their other friends. That day, however, the visitor he was sharing his time with was not there for pleasure.
Naruto was receiving an ‘immersive class’ about the Hokage position. Which basically meant that he was helping Kakashi to read and catalogue documents.
“Maah… Sensei, this is too boring, dattebayo” the blonde mumbled, face against the table. “My brain cannot take it anymore.”
“Well, this is what awaits you once you become Hokage” he pointed out with a sigh. “And you should be glad I’m helping you on the way there, most Kages just get thrown in the position and have to figure it out by themselves.”
He was not thinking about Tsunade. Not at all.
“But we’ve been looking at these papers all morning! There has to be something else we can do, dattebayo!”
“Mmm… Not really, being at peace means more documents than war, who would’ve guessed…”
Fine, there was a small possibility he was mocking Naruto just for the fun of it, but he could not avoid a chuckle as his student slid down the chair until he was lying flat on the floor, dramatic tears rolling over his cheeks.
Truth was, as Hokage there were a lot of things he had to do —physical matters, not paperwork—, but his current state meant he had to focus on decreasing the pile of documents that occupied his office. With any luck, by the end of the pregnancy the amount would have reduced to at least half of it.
The smile on his lips changed into a grimace as the baby decided to kick his left kidney again. He brought a hand to the spot and tried to telepathically ask them to fall asleep again. As the nuisance continued, he realized that was probably not going to happen, the kid seemingly starting a whole Gai’s routine. When the feeling morphed into pain, he was uncapable of holding a gasp.
“Give it a rest” he mumbled.
“Uh? You’re saying we can take a break, sensei, really?!” the Uzumaki happily exclaimed, jumping back up.
“No, I was talking to the demon inside of me” he grunted. “We still have a lot to do.”
Resigning to the situation, the Hatake got up to take another folder from the end of the table, and by doing so a stabbing pain punctured his abdomen. Well, that had definitely not been a kick. His hands let go of the folder and instead grabbed the edge of the desk to avoid falling as a nauseating feeling went through his body.
“Kakashi-sensei?”
“Something is wrong” he panted, one hand moving to his belly.
He had a weird sensation in between his legs, as if he was… Well, either bleeding or peeing, and he was quite sure he could still control his bladder. Another wave of abdominal pain forced him to hold for dear life to the table, knuckles white due to the effort and mask becoming moist due to the hard breathing.
In a blink, Naruto was by his side, helping him to stay up.
“I’m taking you to the hospital, Kakashi-sensei” he said, dead-serious. “Sakura-chan will be able to help you.”
“Wait” he panted. “Just… One second.”
The Hatake brought a hand to the edge of his mask to pull it down. The Uzumaki, who in the past would’ve been ready with a camera to record that moment, moved his head to the opposite side, offering him all the intimacy he could. As soon as his lips were free, Kakashi used his fingers to produce a low but potent whistle. By the time he had put the mask back up, eight dogs had entered the house from the back door.
“We’re here, boss!” Shiba barked. “What do you need?”
“Naruto is taking me to the hospital” he explained, taking short breaths to control the pain. “Uhei, I need you to find Gai and tell him to come. I think something is wrong with the baby.”
Those words sank heavily on the ninken, who whined before nodding slowly. Uhei didn’t waist more time, running outside once again and disappearing in the forest. Being the fastest and knowing Gai’s scent by heart, he would find him in no time, for sure. The taijutsu master had gone training with his team close the village’s border and was supposed to be back by then, but it was not exactly strange for him to stay overtime. He would surely feel guilty later, even when it had been Kakashi who insisted on him going out more often, since his decision to stay at home didn’t have to extend to the other man as well. The Hatake still enjoyed his alone time.
“Ready, sensei?”
“Yes.”
As undignified as it felt, he allowed Naruto to pass a hand under his knees and another behind his back to lift him up, bridal style. Thank Kami for the blonde’s new arm, or otherwise the trip to the hospital would’ve been a less-fun one. Instead, with his four extremities intact and incredible speed, they found themselves in front of the main doors in just seven seconds. Luckily, his dogs would be able to find them by using their nose even inside of the hospital.
His student didn’t bother with the door —which may be something Kakashi had passed onto him—, instead he jumped directly to the windowsill of Sakura’s office, attached to it just with the chakra accumulated at the tip of his sandals. The Hatake really hoped they didn’t fall or the situation would become way worse.
“Sakura-chan!” Naruto exclaimed, uncapable to move his hands to knock at the window. “Open up, it’s an emergency!”
The young kunoichi turned her head towards them with a confused look, but the worried expression on the blonde was enough for her to run and give them access inside.
“What’s wrong?”
“Abdominal pain” Kakashi panted. “Very intense, in waves, just like… UGH! Like that.”
The Haruno’s eyes opened wide, probably because she knew Kakashi was not the kind of shinobi that would complain for a little pain.
“Put him on the bed, Naruto” she indicated as a scratch sound hit the office’s door. “And tell whoever is outside that I’m occupied.”
“It’s my pack” the Hatake grunted as his back hit the hard mattress. “Let them in.”
As the pink-haired moved to help him uncovering his upper body, Naruto opened the door and almost fell to the ground as the dogs at the other side ran to get to Kakashi’s side. They were a bunch of good boys.
“How are you doing, boss?” Pakkun asked.
“Peachy” he mumbled with a groan. “Sakura, tell me what’s wrong.”
His student had started to feel his distended belly without using ninjutsu, which was not a nice feeling, if he was being honest.
“I’m not sure yet” she admitted. “I’m going to use medical ninjutsu and then the echograph, ok?”
He nodded because another wave of pain made it too difficult to talk. The green chakra didn’t make it worse, but neither better. And he didn’t like the way in which Sakura’s eyebrow turned inwards. That was never a good signal.
“What is it?” he groaned. “Is the baby ok?”
“I… I don’t know. I need to use the echograph and check if really…”
“What, Sakura-chan?” the blonde pressured. “Are Kakashi-sensei and the baby going to be ok?”
She hesitated and something took out the air from the Hatake’s lungs. No. That could not happen, not when they were so close to meeting their child.
“I don’t care if we’re not married, he’s my rival!” an angry voice exclaimed from the corridor. “KAKASHI!”
“GAI!” another voice, this one feminine and stronger, interrupted the other man’s complains. “Stop screaming inside my hospital, there is people here trying to work! What the hell is wrong with you?”
“Naruto” Sakura commanded with one word.
In a second, the Uzumaki was out of the office. Another one, and him, together with Tsunade, Gai and Uhei, were back.
“Rival!” the taijutsu master called as he approached the hospital bed. “Uhei told me something was wrong. What is it?!”
“That’s what we’re trying to check, Gai-sensei” Sakura indicated, looking then at her mentor. “I still have to use the echograph to confirm it, Tsunade-sama, but I think… I think is a placental abruption.”
The second frown from the Godaime did nothing to calm Kakashi’s nerves.
“What does that mean?” he demanded.
“Calm down, Kakashi, let’s figure this out first and then we’ll explain.”
As Tsunade moved to help Sakura with the echography, Uhei and Naruto took a step back to join the rest of the pack, giving them the necessary space to work. Gai changed his position as well to be by the Hatake’s side, hands holding one of his while he looked at him with a serious expression. They didn’t need words to understand each other.
I’m here. Whatever happens, I’ll always be here. We’ll get through this together.
The transducer’s pressure was almost painful against his belly, and when it reached the lower part he had to bite the inside of his cheek to contain a complaint.
“That’s liquid, possibly blood, too” the Sannin pointed out, signaling a grey and black spot in the little screen of the apparatus. “You were right, Sakura.”
The girl didn’t seem happy to hear that.
“What does that mean, Tsunade-sama?” Gai asked, voice trembling. “Are they going to be ok?”
The Godaime turned to look at them with a grave expression.
“We cannot be sure, this is a delicate situation” she explained. “The placenta seems to have suffered an abruption, which is what is causing you pain, Kakashi. If you were closer to your due date, we would recommend early labor to decrease any risk, but that is not a possibility right now.”
“But” the Hatake said, “doesn’t the baby gets all the food and that from the placenta? What will happen to them?”
Tsunade and Sakura exchanged a quick glance.
“You’ll have to remain in bedrest to avoid further damage, sensei” the pink haired said, “and take supplements to help the baby keep developing. With luck, that, together with weekly checks, will be enough to get you close to the due date.”
“There is something more we could do” the Sannin added once she finished.
“Tsunade-sama?”
“I have only done the intervention twice before, and only succeeded once” she declared. “If we use medical ninjutsu, we can potentially repair the abruption and help the pregnancy to reach term in a way that is safer for both you and the baby. Rest and supplements may avoid the situation getting worse, but the risks at delivery would remain, mainly blood loss that will endanger both of you.”
The hold of Gai’s hands around Kakashi’s increased to an almost painful level. It was evident he was struggling even more than the Hatake with the news. He was pretty sure that the reason behind it was the indecision of what to choose. Luckily for him, Kakashi had a very clear idea.
“When can you do the intervention?” he asked.
“Kakashi, wait a moment, we need…” the other man tried to add.
“We’re both in danger either way, Gai” he cut him. “This way, at least we have a chance to reach full term without any more risks.”
“But with what Tsunade-sama said, the chances of me losing you both are fifty-fifty!”
“You trusted her with Lee” the Hatake pointed out, squeezing his hands. “Trust her with this, as well.”
When he turned his eyes towards the older woman, she nodded with conviction. Behind her, Sakura didn’t seem so sure, and it was evident that his pack and Naruto wanted to add something, but new better than to try.
“I can schedule it for tomorrow morning” she proposed. “Shizune and Sakura will assist me to help if something goes wrong. This is the best option, Gai.”
Kakashi looked back at his partner, who was no doubt clenching his teeth with enough strength to break them. Then, he inhaled deeply and let out a long breath.
“Ok” he said, moving up to kiss the Hatake’s forehead. “Ok.”
There was a heavy load on Gai’s shoulders that he had only felt once before in his life, five years ago. He had been pacing around those same corridors —well, not exactly because the hospital had been rebuilt since then—, wondering if he would see again the person who entered the surgery room.
“Gai-sensei, what about a sparring match to kill the nerves?” Lee suggested behind him. “Tsunade-sama said the procedure would take at least five hours, so…”
“I appreciate the intention, Lee, but I never left the hospital when it was you in that room, and surely I won’t do it now, either.”
Only two hours had passed since Kakashi had been taken into surgery and Sakura assured him they wouldn’t be able to say anything until they were close to the end, but he still didn’t want to leave the waiting room. The simple thought of it made him sick, as if he would be abandoning both his partner and their child. It would be wrong.
“They’ll be fine” Biscuit said, jumping to his chest and forcing the taijutsu master to catch him. “Have faith, Gai.”
Petting soft fur calmed him, which he suspected the ninken knew, but he still kept pacing around the room. Lee, the dogs and him were not the only ones there, of course. Tenten was out on a mission and not many people had been told of the situation, but Kurenai, Naruto, Sai, Genma and Yamato were there as well, though the last two ones were hidden in the shadows, still on duty even when Kakashi was in surgery.
It felt like an eternity —a slow, horrible one— until the moment Sakura came through the corridor’s doors with a tired expression. Thankfully Gai was not holding a ninken anymore, or it would’ve ended on the floor. They still hadn’t reached the fourth hour mark, so the medic nin shouldn’t be out there yet. A cold chill ran down his spine as his mind tried to prepare for a dozen of painful scenarios.
Then, Sakura smiled.
“Everything went well” she said. “The abruption was smaller than we thought and easy to repair by Tsunade-sama. We also had time to check the overall situation of the baby, and no further damage seemed to have happened, so everything should be fine now.”
Gai felt tears filling up his eyes. He quickly blinked them away in favor of approaching Sakura and pick her hands.
“Thank you” he babbled. “When can I see them?”
“Well, Tsunade-sama and Shizune-san are finishing up and then he’ll be sent to a private room, so I guess you can wait for him there” she indicated, turning then towards the others. “Only him, though, the rest of you may be able to pop up for a second once he’s awake.”
Gai expected some protests, but not even Naruto complained against Sakura’s orders as she directed him to the room were the Hatake would be taken. He barely had to wait a few minutes in the empty space before Shizune and Tsunade entered pushing the bed in which Kakashi was currently asleep. His gaze didn’t move from his rival from the moment he caught an eye on him, too busy checking that he was really breathing and his belly was still there. Making sure his family was safe.
“He should wake within the next hour” the Godaime said in a soft voice. “We’ll do a second check then, to be sure the pain is truly gone, but otherwise everything indicates the pregnancy will be carried to term safely for both of them. You can breathe now, Gai.”
Hearing it didn’t make it more possible, as his lungs seemed to have chosen that moment to forget how to put air in. That was, until his brain sent a panic signal and he basically gasped for oxygen.
“Thank you” he let out with a trembling voice.
The three women looked at him with kind smiles, as they were probably used to that kind of reaction whenever they saved a life. As if their work was not the closest thing to magic any person could think of.
“You should rest as well now, sensei” Sakura advised. “Someone will have to take care of Kakashi-sensei’s incisions for the next week, so…”
“I won’t leave his side, I promise.”
The Sannin chuckled.
“Oh, I can imagine Kakashi protesting against that.”
Gai couldn’t care less. He didn’t even think himself capable of stepping out of the room in which the Hatake was.
“We’ll leave you alone now, sensei” the youngest kunoichi said. “Just be sure to call us shortly after he awakes, ok?”
He nodded, his eyes still focused on Kakashi, and they stayed that way as the women left through the door. Only when he found himself alone did he manage to transfer to the chair next to the bed, fingers coming up to softly brush against the Hatake’s.
Thirty seven minutes.
That was the amount of time that Kakashi needed to wake up once they were left alone in the room. His eyelids were the first thing to move, blinking a couple of times before his eyes found Gai’s. Then, his mouth shifted under the surgical mask he was wearing, expression a mix of confusion and worry.
“How…?” he started with a raspy voice.
“It went well” Gai quickly reassured, his fingers interlacing with Kakashi’s and body bending closer to the other man. “You’re both fine. The abruption was smaller than they thought and were able to fix it easily so you can reach full term. How is the pain?”
“Good” the Hatake responded, grimacing a bit. “Your kid is currently using my kidney as a punching bag, though.”
Gai chuckled loudly, just so damn happy of hearing his rival talk so naturally.
“They’ll become a master in taijutsu, I just know it.”
Kakashi rolled his eyes, but his general expression said he was smiling under the mask. Gai’s free hand came up to rest on his round belly, careful to not rest it on top of the incision. Even if medical ninjutsu had been used, he didn’t want to risk causing him more pain by accident. His fingers spread over the medical gown the other man had on, and the Hatake’s other hand didn’t take long before joining his.
“They are truly very active, rival” Gai smiled upon feeling another kick.
Instead of answering, Kakashi just nodded and closed his eyes again, probably looking to take in that moment and finally relax. Gai let him, of course, happy with just observing his rival while smiling, one hand holding the most important person in his life and the other feeling the result of their love moving without rest.
His little perfect family.

Headcannons Issei x Kurenai
SFW: How did it start and how would you describe it now? How affectionate are they?
NSFW: How do they flirt publicly and in private? Who’s more thirsty for “fun”? Do they share the bed worh other members of Issei’s harem?
This was probably the hardest one for me to do out of all the ones you sent
SFW
How did it start: Kurenai was a single mother that was an therapist visiting Kuoh Academy to talk to some students about her job and offer her help if they needed it, and she saw all the girls that were hanging off of Issei in the school and pulled them aside to make sure they were okay or if they were being manipulated/blackmailed by Issei. She can't help but picture her own daughter in their shoes when she gets older and she wants to make sure the girls are safe. After they ALL share similar stories and seem completely genuine about their feelings for Issei, she decides to confront Issei himself about it. Little did she know that it was actually HIM that was feeling stressed and overwhelmed by all the girls' attention he was getting and how he was trying to be the best he could be for all of them. She quickly transitioned from wanting to accuse him to counseling him and letting him talk about his worries about all his relationships. After that meeting and subsequent follow up meetings for Issei to just let himself finally be able to voice all his worries and doubts. Kurenai also began talking about herself as well with Issei and they began to meet up outside of the school. Eventually it turned into getting coffee/food during their talks and then before the knew it they realized they were kind of dating already
How would you describe it now: Awkward because she still can't help but notice that she's dating someone not much older than her daughter and because she's still getting over her husband's death a few years prior
How affectionate are they: It takes a while, but Kurenai eventually opens up more to Issei as she finally starts to move on from her late husband and she is more willing to accept signs of affection from him like hugs or gifts
NSFW
How do they flirt publicly: They don't really. Kurenai gets pretty embarrassed about public displays of affection and would rather keep those moments private just between the two of them
In private: Kurenai likes to get some meals or snacks ready for Issei to surprise him on days they are going to be spending together and Issei likes to return the favor with surprise treats or flowers
Who’s more thirsty for “fun”: Issei without a doubt
Do they share the bed with other members of Issei’s harem: No, that's just not something Kurenai would be comfortable with. She's only ever spent a night in bed with Asuma and her daughter, and they were/are very special to her which is why. I think she rarely will sleep with just Issei in the same bed

Do you think in GOS, after Kakashi died as a human, that a lot of his human friends started talking/ doing new traditions after he passed?
Like Kuronai planting forget-me-knots all over town, and sitting in the rain just looking up at the sky with an extra bowl of roasted eggplant or eggplant unagi beside her, as if inviting him to join her for a meal. And when she finished she left the bowl out, even if he did not join her.
Or Asuma who was one of Gai's and Kakashi's mountain climbing buddies, decided "Screw it!" And went up one of the most difficult mountains to climb on his own. While it was raining! Like "WATCH THIS. I can do it too, Kakashi!" I actually see him slipping near the top, only for someone to grab his hand and pull him up the rest of the way. Asuma is freaking out and he SWEARS that was Kakashi, but he didn't see the actual person who saved him.
Also both of them showing up at the farm daily to help with Gai's chores, especially in the first few months where Gai probably seemed... just in shock. Kakashi andGai probably helped them out countless times, and they stepped up to be there for them.
Just Kakashi's human friends having to mourn their close friend, while the gods get to reunite and be happy for his return. Its quite the juxtaposition.
Awww this is so cute 😭😭😭
While Ibiki, Tenzo, Iruka, Bee and all the other gods are welcoming Kakashi back, his mortal friends are mourning him.
I love the idea of Kurenai growing forget-me-nots because she knows they were always Kakashi’s favorite flower. Growing up she used to give him some from her mother’s garden because she loved how his eyes lit up as soon as he saw them.
Asuma searching around for whoever it was that saved him, not knowing Kakashi is standing right behind him smiling. And after a bit Kakashi gently nudges him forward, reminding him that he’s there for a reason. There’s a cave for him to visit.
All of them sharing memories of times Kakashi swooped in just in time to help them with a helard task, or even complaining about what an arrogent shit he could be and how ‘of course he’s a god. He has the pride of a god’
A new rain festival being organized by Kurenai and Asuma to celebrate the return of Rain, but also to mourn the friend that they lost. It has book stalls for people to select a few book from, grilled fish, and Dango because Kakashi always loved sharing a stick of Dango with one of them.
Asuma trying to cheer Gai up by joking with him that he bagged himself a GOD. An immortal diety. That he’s such a catch that a god died just so he could be a mortal to marry him.

I've been having thoughts.
I think Kakashi Hatake and Shota Aizawa would be good friends. They have similar attitudes and their vibes are so chill...until they get pissed off, that is.
So. What if the different lands of Naruto were islands in MHA that were a little old school and very picky about their visitors? They give stealth ninja-like training to their up and coming heroes because it's a little more hardcore out there. And, multiple quirks? That's pretty normal for them. Especially for the clans trying to breed the perfect heirs to make the perfect hero who will become the Kage of their village...or as close to it as they can get. Or for clans looking to steal the quirks of others to strengthen themselves. Most of the latter are trying to take over the forbidden islands...and acquire the exceptionally rare 'tailed' quirks. The Tailed Beasts, of course. Be it man-made quirk for destruction gone awry or agitated quirk that chooses its owner or can be forced therein, they are highly sought after for their power.
Cue Orochimaru infiltrating the first round of physical hero exams and the arrival of the Akatsuki. The elder heroes grow concerned for their up and coming children...and at the fact that Naruto holds a covered tailed quirk. They don't have enough security measures in place to keep everyone looked after and safe. So...they reach out to UA for aid. And they gladly offer to help, building onto their school grounds to accommodate their newest members. Twenty seven students, roughly, come from each school and three to five teachers each, depending on the availability of heroes they can spare. From Konoha: Kakashi, Asuma, Kurenai, and Gai come along.
A bit of chaos ensues when they first come together, some schools more friendly than others. Gaara is in a transition point, thanks to Naruto, as is Neji. But both are still less than approachable. But I think Kakashi and Aizawa would kind of become fast friends. And Gai and Mic. They share the same vibes and try to pull their less enthusiastic friends from their shells.
I'm a big Hinata stan and I hate that she ended up with Naruto. I think she would become fast friends with a lot of Aizawa's class. She'd like drinking expensive teas with Momo-it would remind her of being in the Hyuuga compound where tea like that was the norm. And Bakugo, as abrasive (said in the most loving way possible) as he can be, reminds her a little of Kiba and Shino put together. Kiba for his speech, and Shino for his pin-point accuracy in topics and critiques. He takes no shit and helps push her beyond her limits. ("DON'T you fuckin' PUSSY OUT on me!! You got multiple quirks- USE 'EM! Better not go fuckin' easy on me, or I'LL KILL YA!" His trademark smirk is slowly matched by a nod and encouraged, determined look from Hinata. "Right!") He probably wouldn't mind her around his friend group, either, since she's pretty quiet and brings a serene vibe. Deku would probably constantly be studying her quirks, along with the others. But I'd probably match her with Shinso, if not Shino. I've been a big Shino/Hina fan for years, but I think Shinso and Hinata could hit it off well, too. They're both misunderstood for their quirks, kind of shunned for them, in ways. So they would understand each other pretty well. Hiashi probably wouldn't approve in the beginning- on either count- but there are ways of changing his mind.
Also, I think Sasuke and Naruto would hit it off with Deku and Bakugo. They could do double dates if they ever got over themselves and their own stumbling emotions for one another. (Sasu/Naru, Deku/Baku.) Sakura and Ochako might hit it off. Hinata and Mezou, Shino and Tokoyami, Kiba and Lee with Eijirou and Kami, Ino and Momo and Kyoka, Mina and Lee, Neji and Tenya and Shoto...and so many more. I'm not limiting the friends here, just suggesting some good friend partner-ups. And this was only Konoha rookie nine plus three in the older group and the first/middle class of UA...that's not accounting for the other villages or upperclassmen. I think Gaara would have a hard time with everything and be kind of emotionally stunted like Shoto. They might make a good friend pair, especially considering they were both betrayed by their dads. Lots of bonding angst there.
But, like...yeah. I think this could be a very fun crossover fic premise. Maybe even partner up villains from both and cause some havoc. What do y'all think? 🥺😁 Ideas free to use~ Hit me up if you use them. I'm a thirsty bitch for this kind of content.

DUDDE OMG I LOVE YOUR BRAN AND ART GPDKGKDJFG LOVE IT SMMM
Im gonna yap too cuz im thinking about them all day
first of all Naruto as a Hatake heir omg YES??? Imagine the headache he would cause for everyone. Political nightmare. Like Kakashi probably would take up the position in the clan council just to fuck with people.
Oh and if Ren and Kakashi are married (probably at 18 or smth like EARLY for tax benefit and just in case) so it means Ren is a HATAKE now!!!
Also Ren 100% calls Kakashi his wife, it's not up for negotiations. Kakashi just like to freak out people when Ren (fairly short, nice medic) talks about him like "I don't know, I need to discuss it with my wife..." and then Kakashi appears behind him (tall scary jounin) "Hmmm, to discuss what with me, dear?"
"(He literally tried to murder Naruto when he was less than an hour old.)" <- DUDE LMAOOO
I LOVE Naruto visiting the stone and talking with his uncle Obito who sits near by in the bushes and just "thank fuck they didn't raise a depressed kid, i couldn't handle the 3rd one"
And can you imagine The Feels at the war not only for Ren and Kakashi but for Naruto too? Like THIS is his favourite uncle, his hero who 'died' for his friends? The fuck happened?!
Also the implication that Obito listens to Ren when he visits. Obito is probably being "WHY the fuck are you visiting, you don't even KNOW me!"
Tho I imagine Ren doesn't talk much, just smoking quietly and cleaning up if needed. I think he blames himself a lot since when they were kids he always told Obito how he would look after him and take care of him so he could become a Hokage. And fucking failed to protect Obito in the end. So yeah immense guild and Ren can't even express it. The words just stuck in his throat.
Obito is so confused, like wtf, we never even met.
Omg the massacre. I think Ren would try to lure Sasuke to their house just because he's the last Uchiha and Obito would want them to take him in (Obito literally helped with the massacre but whatever)
Sasuke will be really stubborn and it will be like trying to adopt a stray scared kitten. Naruto would help when he realises what his dad is doing.
Jiraya would probably visit a bit, just to make sure Naruto's and Ren's seals are okay and don't react much on each other.
Isobu will be really well behaved I think. I think Ren is a good host for him since they're both be like "You didn't want it, I didn't want it, so let's just work together and try to be as comfortable with it as we can"
If guilt money doesn't work, Jiraya sends Kakashi more porn (who Ren is ALSO very interested in), some medical things from other countries and gifts for Naruto. It kinda works, Jiraya can find lots of interesting stuff in his travels.
as for their friend group, damn Naruto will have the worst company to grow up in.
I imagine Kurenai (age 15, Naruto is like 1), who is very interested in having a kid one day, asks Ren a lot of questions and coos on Naruto and Ren is just sits there barely alive, cuz Naruto is LOUD and ACTIVE and FUSSY
Anko just looks at all of it once (1) and decides that she will never have kids.
Genma and Asuma (who introduces Ren to sigarets) are just laughing at them and congratulating them on becoming dads. In revenge they're the main targets for babysitting when Naruto is fussy and Kurenai is busy.
Btw Kakashi and Ren def have conflicts about smoking in the house. Naruto joins in later cuz fox gave him enhanced nose.
Ren tries to quit, but it's hard. Like he doesn't ask Kakashi to stop reading porn for example.
oh and they're both freaks about romance novels porn or no porn. They sit on their bed and just reading their own pieces and then share their thoughts.
Obito listens in cuz he's curious lol.
Oh Ren would def recognise Kakashi as Sukea, like he knows his wife.
"Wow, dear, are we Nohara now?"
Thinking about them after the war... Ren and Kakashi feel awkward af cuz like, they're married and they love each other and now here's Obito, who (they think) is still in love with Rin. He's not and he's in love with both of them but well they don't know that. So a bit of drama cuz they don't know but Obito won't fucking tell them cuz he thinks he doesn't deserve it anymore.
At first Obito being totally at home at their house and knowing how they like their food, who does who in the household and ect.
"How do you know all that? Wasn't you busy with your terrorist group at the time?"
"Hey, can a man have a hobby?"
"Which is?.."
"Stalking. I also want to join your book club, I have thoughts on the last book you read before the war"
Later when they get their shit together it'd be hilarious. "This is my wife the HOKAGE Kakashi Hatake. And this is my ex-terrorist husband Obito Hatake."
"Do you have to introduce us like this?"
and yes Obito changed his last name just in pure spite.
btw Kakashi living his best live with not one, but TWO husbands.
@hibiscusseaart
Ren Nohara
Ren and Kks doodles + me yapping ab this AU bc the brain rot has me in a chokehold
Tumblr media
close ups so yall dont have to zoom in
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I JUST REALIZED THIS WOULD MEAN THAT NARUTO IS TECHNICALLY ALSO THE HATAKE CLAN HEIR URAGHHHH
I NEED TO DRAW HIM WITH ALL THE NINKEN SO SO BADDDDDD
KAKASHI SHARING CLAN LORE BC HE HAS PACK TO CARRY ON HIS CLANS HISTORY AND TRADITIONS BC IT ISN'T JUST HIM ANYMORE SAVE ME SAVE ME
Hatake 'the line ends with me' Kakashi BUT NOT ANYMORE BABY HELL YEAH!! having a spouse and child will do that to you
Now does he really gaf ab tradition? Honestly, probably not but the idea of him not being alone in terms of family/clan is what he deserves (along with a lot of therapy).
HE MAY STILL BE MENTALLY ILL BUT NOT AS BADLY AS THE FIRST TIME AROUND 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Also, the consequences of Naruto having two parents who are both some of the most elite shinobi in Konoha is probably one of the best 'fuck off' deterrents he could have in terms of curbing harassment over his being the nine-tails container.
ALSO ALSO, "I'm gonna be Hokage!" oh and he's wearing those little blue goggles and carrying around the weight of a dead boy's dream without really knowing just how heavy that burden is but still carrying it all the same in the way only optimistic children can. Oh bitch I'm throwing up everywhere. Like yes he's going to bring peace to the shinobi world but he is also giving both his dad's the worst type of heart ache. Seeing doubles because he's so much like Obito but blonde and four times as stubborn.
kkrn trying so hard not to see ghosts in their kid but he's literally a mash up of Minato, Kushina, and Obito. Minato's kindness, Kushina's vitality, and Obito's pure will to be good.
Not saying that ghosts are all they see cause it's very much not. Naruto is still Naruto but sometimes there's that outline of an old memory that just doesn't fade. A little like deja vu I guess. Kakashi and Ren are so glad it's peacetime because even the thought of dandelion blonde beneath a too-big boulder makes breathing that much harder.
I imagine he gets trained an insane amount because both Kakashi and Ren want him to be able to defend himself. Even while it's peacetime, they're shinobi, there's always a risk. So long as Naruto is on active duty he'll always be in danger. With both of his guardians growing up/serving in the third war when they were barely older than Naruto it's practically a given.
Not that I think Naruto would complain about being able to learn jutsu/shinobi skills. He'd probably be stoked about it until he has to spend like four hours straight throwing shuriken and reading survival guides about edible plants. He complains about it. Loudly. mb lil bro half of ninja training is literally just ingraining reflexes and learning the land.
mmm academy-era Naruto going to the memorial stone and ranting about his day to it in the way he's seen both Ren and Kakashi do in the past. That's so cute and sad like "and then Shikamaru slept the whole time but it was supposed to be a GROUP project! Can you believe that!" and Obito is in the bushes nodding his head along like the good uncle he is. (He literally tried to murder Naruto when he was less than an hour old.)
Naruto just talks and talks and talks. About everything and nothing and its probably like the least depressing one-sided conversation Obito has ever heard in front of his grave (looking at you Kakashi, Ren).
I imagine that Naruto kind've treats the stone/Obito's memory fondly. Both Ren and Kakashi talk about him in warm tones and with growing up hearing stories of him it's hard not to feel like he knows him. He's not there, obviously, but if Naruto closes his eyes and imagines that scowling boy in his parent's team photo while he talks it almost feels real. (Honey, you've got a big storm coming.)
To their family, Obito is forever thirteen. He's passionate and has a short fuse. He loves sweets and has eyes and hair darker than the night, he's a sucker for a sob story and helps old ladies with their groceries. Naruto finds it hard not to see a friend in a ghost he's never met.
AA and then post Uchiha Massacre, Naruto just stares at the stone and wonders that if Obito were still here would he be gone too? Man I need to see what's going on in Obito's head during that.
On an unrelated note i wonder where the fuck Jiraiya is in all this. Bro is just out and about doing fuck all as two fourteen year olds take care of his godson and he's running from responsibility😭 i bet he sends guilt money. Ren literally doesn't give a single shit because even if Jiraiya did try for custody he would literally be getting his hands chopped off. No way in hell is Ren letting a pervert like that raise a kid that's a recipe for disaster. The money is nice but Ren could not give less of a fuck ab that mans guilt. Like "oh, you feel bad for not owning up to your God Father title that Minato, my late sensei, entrusted to you? Good."
I need to see Ren and Genma + Anko and Kurenai friendship. They would be a horrible terrible no good amazing friend group. Terrifying when together. Four horsemen of the apocalypse when they have an idea and put their mind to it.
Anyway, what are our opinions on ANBU Ren and Ren meeting 'Sukea' bc that all i've been able to think ab today. Okay, I'm done yapping thanks for listening.

Perfume
Came across some of @bakapandy‘s beautiful Sand-Nara family art on here and fell in love. They effectively dragged me back into the Naruto pit, so I thought I'd write them a gift fic. Thanks for reading; enjoy, and be sure to go check out BakaPandy's awesome content!
Shikamaru doesn’t consider himself a morning person, waking up a few hours before sunrise has been his solace today. The man looks over at Temari for what must be the hundredth time that day. The blonde rests on her side with her hair down and lashes fluttering against her cheeks, mauve lips parted and small, peaceful breaths falling from in between them. He smiles at the sight, debates on reaching down to move her hair out of her face, and decides against it before opening the flap at the front of the tent to look outside.
He can tell that the sun is about to rise. He’s supposed to wake her up, but she was especially tired yesterday, so he lets her have a few more minutes of sleep as he quietly shuffles through their rations for the last thermal cup full of coffee for them to share. It’s cold by now, as it’s been sitting there since they left yesterday, but it’s better than nothing considering they’ve been having to take turns watching so the other can sleep at every stop to prevent any enemy ambushes.
Tsunade and Gaara have them traveling together to multiple villages to deliver news and make preparations before The Fourth Shinobi War truly starts. It’s the most Shikamaru has been around Temari for months, and while he’s thankful for the opportunity to be with her for another day or two, he’s also terrified on the inside.
The tensions between the Akatsuki and the Allied Shinobi Forces are at an all time high and the Akatsuki (or, what’s left of them) will come for Naruto and Killer Bee soon- not only that, but there’s not much he can do, as he’s a small piece on the proverbial shogi board in this international conflict. Really, he knows that it’s up to the Kages and the two Jinchurikis that remain to solve this and for him and the others to do as they command to solve the conflict.
Shikamaru isn’t optimistic.
He could die, his parents could die, Choji could die, Ino could die, Naruto could die, Mirai could die, Kurenai could die, Temari could die. One or some or all of them could die and he wouldn’t be able to do anything about it; like Asuma all over again. He shakes his head to rid himself of the thoughts- no matter how much he overthinks or conjures up strategy after strategy, realistically, he can’t do anything aside from listen to what he’s been told for now.
A groan falls from between his lips so loud that it startles Temari awake.
“What’s wrong?” She asks, able to see right through him.
“Nothing,” It’s quick- too quick- and he can tell by the look on her face that she doesn’t believe him. A blush takes over his face from the tips of his ears down to his chest, and thankfully, it’s mostly hidden by the darkness of the early morning and hidden even more so when he turns his head to avoid Temari’s prying gaze. “I’m just tired. Didn’t get enough sleep last night.”
“Right,” She muses, unbelieving.
His gaze flickers over to her just fast enough to see the way she rolls her emerald eyes at him. Luckily, she doesn’t bother saying anything else- they both already know he lied to her. As Temari reaches over and takes the cup of coffee from him to drink, Shikamaru curses himself for being so in love with her. They could both die any day now, and he’s sitting there thinking about what it would feel like to hold her in his arms, take her on a proper date, wake up by her side every morning. He knows she feels the same, it’s obvious in how flustered she gets around him, and he’s not stupid. She probably knows about his feelings, too. It just so happens that every time he gathers the courage to tell her how he feels, something comes up; their promotions, more responsibility, The Akatsuki, Gaara’s kidnapping and death paired with Kankuro’s injuries, and now, the war.
After drinking most of the coffee and leaving Shikamaru with the remaining one or two drinks, Temari gets up and starts getting ready for the day, unabashedly getting undressed from her pajamas and changing right in front of him. Shikamaru has the decency to look away and only looks back when he hears the familiar sound of her packing everything up and finishing her morning routine; bags being zipped up, a couple spritzes of her perfume that permeate the tent, rubber bands snapping into place to keep her hair tied back.
They then proceed to stare at each other for a few seconds too long. Temari looks like an angel with perfectly done golden hair, emerald eyes, and unblemished, sunkissed skin. Meanwhile, Shikamaru knows he looks like shit with his hair a frizzy, oily mess, his face covered in a stress-induced breakout, and his eyes littered with wine-hued bags underneath them. It always surprises him that Temari never seems to care how bad he looks.
When the tension between them gets so thick that Shikamaru can’t even swallow, he quirks an eyebrow and decides to speak.
“Sleep well?”
“Not really. You?”
“Considering that I only got to sleep for four hours before you woke me up to keep watch, I think you know the answer to that,” He grumbles as he crawls out of the tent with Temari following, their bags in her hands. Shikamaru quickly deconstructs the tent set up and rolls it up so he can pack it along with the rest of their belongings. When he looks up, he sees that the sun is rising fast, blue and pink breaking the horizon along with orange and yellow. Their next stop is The Land Of Lightning, which is decently far from where they currently are on the outskirts of the Sound Village. “We should leave soon.”
“I know,” She responds, but sits down on the grass beneath them rather than make any move to start walking. Shikamaru shrugs and joins her. “You alright?”
“Mhm.”
Nothing is said for a few minutes after that. They don’t have time to waste, and it’s unlike Temari to stall or mess around with completing a mission, but right now, it makes sense for them to delay the terrifying inevitable that approaches, so he figures it won’t hurt to indulge her until the sun fully rises. In a rare display of affection, Temari rests her head on his shoulder. It takes everything in Shikamaru not to jump, but he manages to stay still and admire her face; burning red with a blush, eyes closed, terribly beautiful in the glow of the soft sunlight that’s starting to shine as the sky turns more and more light blue. Hesitantly, he rests his head against hers and reaches to hold her hand, which she allows.
All Shikamaru can do is chuckle. He thinks of his friends at home, the ones who don’t get it; Ino who says that can’t see Shikamaru ever settling down with someone three years his senior, Choji who says Temari is too scary, Naruto who says that Temari is mean, Kiba who says that Shikamaru is better-suited to  be single for the rest of his life. And maybe they’re right. Shikamaru is young and doesn’t know what he wants anymore, and Temari isn’t especially sweet like some of the men and women who have approached him in the past, but Shikamaru doesn’t like sweet. He likes Temari just the way she is, bitter and cold yet toothsome like the coffee he’s holding with his spare hand.
“Temari,” The ravenette whispers and interlocks their fingers before squeezing her hand.
“Hm?”
“If something happens and I die before you… I’d come back to you as this.”
“W… What are you talking about?” She glances at him, brows furrowed together.
“I’d come back as this morning; the clouds in the sky, the sunrise, the smell of your perfume, and… Maybe you’d be reminded of me.”
“You aren’t dying any time soon, you idiot,” She pulls away and reaches forward to flick his nose, which makes him blink as she crosses her arms and huffs.
“I know,” Is all he says in response before it’s quiet again.
It’s a comfortable silence, but it makes Shikamaru think about the war, about her, about them.
He worries his inner lip, secretly dreading the day when the conflict ends; the day that they don’t have any reason to be working together and end up going back to their own villages, left with nothing but the smell of each other on their clothes and on their skin to remember their time by until they meet again. And maybe it’s selfish to think that way- especially when it comes to her- but no one has to know, and that’s what he tells himself every time he wraps an arm over her shoulder to keep her close to him or stares at her for a little too long to memorize the comfortingly familiar curve of her trademark smirk.
Maybe- just maybe- it's okay for him to be selfish.
“I’ve been waiting for the right time, but it never seems to come,” Temari mutters, breaking the silence. “So I’ll say it now in case something does happen to us in all this… I love you, Shikamaru.”
Shikamaru nearly chokes at the confession; the sincerity, the bluntness, and fuck, the way she looks at him when she says it. The air is knocked out of his chest at the same time that his entire body is lit on fire.
“I- I… Temari, I…” He stammers, which catches both of them by surprise. It’s out of character for him. Then again, he does a lot of things that he normally wouldn’t when Temari is involved. “I love you, too.”
“Heh, not such a troublesome woman after all, am I?” Temari laughs like she’s just won some sort of game between the two of them- one that Shikamaru didn’t even know they were playing.
Shikamaru shakes his head, finishes the rest of the coffee, and stands up when he sees that the sun has fully risen. He considers leaning down to kiss her, but chooses not to do so in fear that the cigarettes and coffee on his breath will leave a bad first impression. The last thing he wants this early in the morning is to get chewed out for his lack of oral hygiene over the past few days.
“Maybe you’re not as troublesome as I initially thought, but don’t go and get a big head just because I told you that,” Shikamaru nips at the inside of his cheek and scratches the back of his neck as Temari stands at his side, their items evenly divided and carried between the two. “You about ready to go?”
“As ready as I’ll ever be,” She snarks, something sharp and sardonic.
“Same. Being up this early is such a drag…”
They start walking together, another comfortable silence falling between them. Shikamaru can’t help how his heart slams in his chest and how his mind scrambles knowing what’s ahead of them, but at the very least, Temari’s by his side- and she holds his hand again with her calloused digits and palm squeezing his own in this addicting, reassuring way that has him letting out a sigh of relief.
“You better take me on a date after this is all over.”
“Where would you even want to go?” He inquires with a tilt of his head.
“Shopping… Or to the hot springs… Or maybe out to eat-” Temari’s initial idea expands into three, and then five, and then ten. Before Shikamaru can even blink, she’s listing idea after idea with no end in sight.
Shikamaru smiles.
“We can do all of it, you troublesome woman,” He laughs. “Just give me some time, okay? Once we get through this, we can do whatever you want, Temari.”
“Okay, Shikamaru.”

I Found My Light: Chapter 2 (Kakashi X Reader)
Chapter 1
A/n: Well, I decided to continue! I'm very excited about this. Hope you enjoy it!
Summary: Left confused after last night, you talk with Kurenai over breakfast at your favorite diner.
Word Count: 1400
Warnings: fem!reader, SFW (but might not be later lol)
“You… cuddled?” You could feel Kurenai’s eyes burning into the top of your head as you stared down at the coffee cup between your hands, her tone of disbelief unquestionable.
“I mean, yeah, I don’t know how else to describe it,” you started, nervously biting your lip, “one moment we were under the tree with his arms wrapped around me, and the next I was waking up in my own bed this morning with him nowhere to be found.” It was strange really. You don’t remember even moving from the spot you two were in, so how could you have made it all the way home without waking up? Did he carry you all the way there? Teleport? How does he even know where you live?
“Are you sure you’re not imagining it? Sounds to me like you were just having a realistic dream.” You could see Kurenai’s hand reach out and grab your wrist, giving it a small squeeze. “Didn’t you say you were thinking about him the other day? Maybe he just ended up slipping into your dream because you miss him.”
Looking up from your cup, you meet her sympathetic eyes. Kurenai knows more than anyone else about the feelings you had for Kakashi when you were young, so dreaming about him wouldn’t be a far-fetched idea.
“Listen, I get why you would think that way,” you started, “but I’m telling you, as ridiculous as it sounds, that’s what happened.” You lean back into the booth and fold your arms across your chest, escaping Kurenai’s grasp. There’s absolutely no way you will let anyone take that moment away from you, you decided.
“Alright, alright, I believe you!” Kurenai chuckled with her hands coming up in defense. “If you want I can ask Asuma to tell me if Kakashi says anything about it to him. I mean I highly doubt Kakashi would go around telling people you two had a cuddle session, but who knows? He sounds like a whole new man.”
“Order’s up!” Your waiter exclaimed, bringing three plates of food over to your booth. “Let’s see I have the eggs and bacon,” placing the plate in front of Kurenai, “the veggie scramble, and the pancakes you wanted to share.” Placing the rest of the plates down, you both give him a warm smile and a thank you.
“Mmm yum.” You both say in unison as you begin to eat.
“Honestly, (y/n), you better hurry up and eat that scramble because I am ravenous right now and will finish our pancakes before you even get to them.” Kurenai teased with a mouth full of eggs.
“You eat my half of the pancakes and you can expect a kunai in your back during training today.” You threatened, pointing your butter knife at her.
“Wait,” Kurenai paused and then gasped, “that’s right!”
“What?” You ask, a tad concerned at her excitement.
“Kakashi!”
“Kakashi—”
“Will be at training today!” She exclaimed. You could feel the blood begin to drain from your face. “Yeah since he’s not a member of the Anbu anymore he has time to train with us. Gui finally convinced him to, saying something about taking advantage of the springtime of our youth.”
“Ah, typical Gai.” You spoke flatly, trying to remain as casual as possible, but inside you began to panic. How are you going to face Kakashi so soon? You have absolutely no idea how he feels about last night. I mean, he instigated the cuddle session but left you in your bed this morning without any word. Were you supposed to keep that moment between you a secret? Did you already mess up by telling Kurenai? How could you be so—
“(Y/N)!”
You snapped out of your train of thought and met Kurenai’s concerned eyes, a small smile forming at the corners of her mouth.
“(Y/n), I can feel you spiraling from over here.” She gave you a small chuckle. “You’re going to be fine. If anything, he should be the one nervous to face you. How can he explain what happened last night without admitting he has feelings for you?” She reasoned while taking the last bite of her half of the pancakes.
“Admitting he has feelings for me?” You repeated in disbelief after a pause. “You can’t be serious.”
“Well, how else do you explain it?”
“He’s lonely, or lost.” You begin to think out loud. “Ah, or he needed human connection and I was the only one around, simple as that.” Proud of your answer, you take the last couple bites of your food as well.
“I suppose you could be right,” Kurenai began, “but you're definitely wrong.”
“How am I wrong?”
“Well, to be completely honest with you, if anyone in the world ends up with Kakashi, it’s going to be you,” Kurenai stated matter-of-factly.
“What!” You scoffed. “Absolutely not.”
“Hey, hey, not too fast there with the rejection.” Kurenai reasoned. “Besides Rin, you were the only girl he gave any attention to.”
Rin.
My poor Rin.
I miss her.
“You realize that’s because Rin and I were best friends right? I was only given attention by association. He was close to me because he had to be.” Your voice began to trail off at the end as you could start to feel your throat tighten, Rin’s death still stinging like salt in an open wound. “Don’t forget what happened in the months after Rin’s death.”
“I know,” Kurenai said almost to herself.
You continued anyway, “He avoided me. We crossed paths probably a thousand times at Rin’s grave, no words exchanged. Until one day I told him that I knew what happened and that I didn’t fault him for any of it. Then we exchanged a few words here and there only for it to ultimately fizzle out again. Now here we are, years later, and we’re somehow connected again? Seemingly out of nowhere? It makes no sense.” Damn, maybe I was dreaming.
“Maybe it does.”
“How?”
“Well,” Kurenai sat back and began to play with the ends of her hair, “what if he wants to start over? What if he wants to get back to the way things were before?”
“When we were just little genin?”
“Sure.”
“Or,” you began after a moment, “he feels guilty and wants to clear his conscience.” That sounds more realistic.
“Ah, there you go being a grade-A pessimist again.” Kurenai chuckles with her hand covering her face. “How about we quit the speculation and just find out naturally?”
“Fine.” You sighed, putting your chin in your hand while gazing out the diner window.
“It’s tragic really.” Kurenai pondered, also staring out into the distance.
“What?” You looked at her confused.
“We should’ve gotten two orders of pancakes. I’m still hungry.” She complained.
You stared at her for a moment, unamused while she gave you a big, goofy grin.
Finally feeling yourself break into a smile, you laughed and threw your napkin at her face. “I swear the only things on your mind are Asuma and pancakes. You have a problem.”
“Ugh, not true!” She joked, pretending to be offended. “I also think about how nice it would be if my future maid of honor and Asuma’s future best man were in a happy, fulfilled relationship together.” She stated, wiggling her eyebrows.
“Shut up.”
“Careful, (Y/n),” she smiles, getting up from the table and taking your hand in hers, “at this rate your eyes are gonna roll out of your pretty head.”
“Yeah, yeah.” You mused, putting your arm over Kurenai’s shoulders as you stroll out of the diner, leaving money and a tip for your waiter.
“You never know, (Y/n).” Kurenai spoke as you made it outside. “Just promise me you’ll keep an open mind tonight, okay?”
You sighed, feeling stressed again about the training session.
“Yeah, okay,” you finally answered, turning to face her. “And you promise me you won’t tell anyone else about what happened last night, not even Kakashi can know that you know, okay?”
“I promise to not tell a soul.” She spoke sincerely. “I’ll see you tonight, my love.” She gave you a strong hug, a kiss on the cheek, and walked off in the direction of her apartment making sure to look back and give you a teasing wink.
You smiled and yelled after her, “People are gonna start thinking we’re lesbians if you keep that up!”
“Let them think what they want!” She yelled back without turning around.
And just like that, there you were, one of the strongest kunoichis of the Hidden Leaf, feared by many, standing alone on a busy street terrified to attend your training session tonight because of one silver-haired shinobi.
One very handsome, insanely smart, terrifyingly strong, porn-reading, sharingan-wielding, silver-haired shinobi.
That you cuddled.
Last night.
Shit.

Emotion (Kakashi x Reader)
A/N: Kakashi again...can't get enough of this mans tbh. U r an empath due to your kekkei genkai and Kakashi has always been difficult to read. Friend to lovers. Sharing one bed folks, we got some steamyyy shit here. Angst warning as well.
Word count: 6000
He was always alone. Ever since his childhood, he walked the world completely alone with only a few people there to support him. No mother, no father, no mentor, no teammates. He was at the mercy of fate his entire life, things being stolen from him time and time again.
He just prayed that he could keep her. Y/N L/N, the only woman to have wormed her way into his heart and made a home there.
When they first met, Kakashi and Y/N, she cursed him for being such a weirdo. Apparently his mind was empty and his heart was seemingly full of sand. He was conditioned that way, and that is how he lived for the longest time. It wasn't a surprise for him to hear that.
But she thought it was stranger than anything she'd ever seen, and so she followed him. She would figure him out, bring him back down to Earth from his supposed high horse. That woman was determined, and frankly he didn't mind her being around. She was quiet enough that it didn't matter. Not to mention on the missions they had together, she was quite the partner.
Over time, she'd learned to read him like a book. It was part of her clan's kekkei genkai. The ultimate empath, I suppose. The ability to read a persons every single emotion and then turn that, if they so choose, into power.
She was never the greatest fighter, but her negotiation skills were the best they could possibly be. She would dive into the emotions of another and manipulate them backwards and forwards to get what she wanted.
It was overwhelming, walking into a room of people and immediately being bombarded with so many feelings coming at her all at once. Occasionally, if the situation was bad enough she'd have to take a seat and clear her mind, organizing each person in her mind like a filing cabinet of empathy.
But damn, did she try to weasel out every bit of feeling she could. It was just something that came so naturally, she couldn’t help but instigate whatever was brewing up inside him.
"Kakashi, if you're happy, you know you're allowed to express it. You don't have to hide it away," she told him, staring at the masked man sitting across from her at the table. He was watching as she sharpened her kunai, and she could feel the content running off his body in small bursts. He was feeling better. Better than he had in a little while. Of course she picked up on it.
He sighed, rolling his eyes. She was always reading him, he knew that. He just preferred when she refrained from mentioning it. It did, most times, feel like a bit of an invasion of privacy, how she could deep dive into the corners of his mind. There were things no one else could ever possibly know that she did. It was strange, but he was used to it.
"What? Want me to smile or something?"
"No, but you should let yourself go. Just drop the facade."
"Stop doing that. Getting into my head."
Quietly, she set down her blade and picked up the next one, taking a cloth and softly wiping away any dirt. Her eyes slide up to his for a moment, her all knowing gaze filling his vision. "It's basically impossible. Especially if you're the only one around. There's nothing else to focus on except you." He knew that. It wasn't like she had an on or off switch. That was the downside of this dojutsu. Unlike sharingan and byakugan users, hers was always pulling the strings of her brain.
"You've got that mission next week. With Naruto and a few of the other kids, right?"
"Yes."
"It's A rank, isn't it?"
She hummed in agreement. He had a habit of knowing about all her missions, more importantly being the dangerous ones. He wasn't necessarily scared for her, probably not. He was more cautious than anything. There was this nagging feeling in his head that he shouldn't let her go on these missions alone. That it was too dangerous for her to handle.
But he was wrong. She was stronger than he thought, and could hold her own in battle. He was just a worrier. He'd just lost too many, seen too many bodies in front of his eyes to trust. God, he wanted to trust her, but he couldn't. She was too vulnerable. His friend, one of the only ones who hadn't died yet. For all he knew, her days numbered, that's how paranoid he was about everything.
"You'll be careful?"
"That's a silly question." He gave her a look that said he was more serious than anything, and she sighed. "Of course I'll be careful. I have people that would miss me if I wasn't." He was one of them. She could sense his fear whenever she said goodbye and his relief when she returned. He really tried to remain objective, but his heart said otherwise.
And she would be a liar to say that she did not experience the same relief seeing him come home from missions, even if he was beaten and bruised to the bone, she was just happy he made it back. So many never got to come home. It was a sick world, they lived in, but she could relish in the little comforts.
"Don't worry about me. I'll always turn out fine. It's you and your dumb students we have to worry about."
"I hear you. Those kids are enough to drive a person mad." He rested his chin in his palm, the mere thought of those kids causing his blood pressure to rise.
"Thankfully my students never gave me any trouble. Sweet little things."
"Well, aren't you just lucky, Y/N?"
"What can I say? Kurenai and I got the luck of the draw with our students. You men had it rough, I have to admit," she laughed. It was funny that he was so unfortunate to have gotten assigned the Uchiha and the Uzumaki, two completely opposite but persistent forces. "Despite your perverted tendencies and your perpetual lateness, you still did a great job teaching them."
"Thanks. But do you really have to call me a pervert? I'm really not."
"Yeah? That explains why you read porn in public. Admit you're a pervert, you dumb old man."
"We're the same age-" he began to argue, but she just cut him off with her harsh words.
"Creep," she muttered, running the sharpening stone along her blade. He narrowed his eyes. She was being awfully annoying, and he knew she could sense his irritation building up. Yet she continued just to be a pain in the ass.
 He warned, "Hey. Watch it, L/N."
"Okay, okay, I'll stop...Pervert." She ducked her head when his hand reached out to wring her around the neck for being so frustrating, and she continued to laugh. It was nice, having a friend she could joke with and be around without having to worry about what she said. He might pretend to be mad, but she could feel the happiness still rolling off his body thickly under all that fake neutrality.
He was happier than he'd been in a long while, and she found herself swelling with pride knowing that she might have helped make that happen. Her lips curled into the gentlest of smiles as she peered back up at him, and he found himself smiling back even if it was just through the mask.
He swore in that moment, he'd make sure Y/N didn't end up like all the others. She would live. He'd break this wretched curse just for her. He was sure of it.
______
"How could you be so reckless?! Do you want to die?" Kakashi shouted at his friend who could only stand there angrily, arms crossed over her chest and one foot in the other direction. She didn't need to be lectured by someone who took just as many risks every single mission as she did.
"Kakashi, I really don't want to hear it. You have no idea how it went."
"Yeah but Naruto does, and we were just talking."
She placed her free hand over her chest and exclaimed even angrier than before, "You're going to trust a kid over me? Naruto even?" It was just low to trust Naruto when she was right there to explain herself. Just let her speak for once, she wanted to say but he of course, had something else to say.
He waved his arm toward the ramen shop, eyes glaring. "Don’t be rude. He's right there. What is wrong with you?"
Indeed, Naruto was sitting inside Ichiraku with Jiraiya at his side, munching on pork ramen while the pair fought outside. Kakashi was eating with them, taking a break from his work to just relax with his master and student when out of the corner of his eye he noticed Y/N stumbling down the street on her crutch.
He heard when she got back home that she was in the infirmary for a couple days. He had no idea for what reason until Naruto explained to him what happened. She was being needlessly reckless on the battlefield, relying too much on her kekkei genkai and not enough on her brain. She threw herself right in the way of an enemy, for what reason, he didn't know. All he knew was that she could have died and she didn't seem to care one bit.
Rightfully so, he was mad. Normally he preferred not to make a scene in the open like this, but there wasn't anyone else around and he was red-hot.
She huffed. "He knows I don't mean anything bad by that. How could he not? I'm also his sensei, you know."
"Doesn't matter," Kakashi brushed off her words. "What you did was dangerous and you don't seem to care. Next time what are you gonna do? Run right into the arms of the enemy?"
"No, I would never. Kakashi, you're just being a jerk right now. I'm literally injured from the hip down and you have to yell at me? Jeez, just be grateful I'm alive, okay? Things happen," she tried to reason with him, but he didn't acknowledge it. He wasn't exactly feeling all that rational.
"Things don't just happen like that."
She groaned, "Well apparently they do, because it happened to me."
His eye narrowed and she noticed the way he clenched and unclenched his fists a couple times by his sides. Clearly he was just trying to channel his anger, but he really had no reason to be so upset. She hadn't done anything to him. He really needed to relax. "This is so like you L/N's. Always so emotional. Always thinking you're stronger than you actually are."
"Excuse you-"
"Get a grip, you aren't going to live forever."
"First off, don't interrupt me. Second, don't talk about my clan ever again, you hear me, Hatake? We don't live to please your dumbass," she cursed, how dare he say shit about her clan. That asshole. He was just being so...so unlike himself. She had no idea what had gotten into him, but she hated it and just wanted to continue on her way before he said something else stupid.
Normally, she didn't expect to be bombarded in the street nearly the second she leaves the hospital, but Kakashi never fails to surprise her.
"I've got to go. Don't bother following me." With that, she took off past him, rushing as fast as she could on her crutch, which was pathetically slow. Silently, she cringed at how ridiculous she must look waddling around like this in a fit of rage. Nevermind that. She had better things to do.
He huffed out the breath he had been holding to walk back into the ramen shop, taking his seat beside Naruto and slouching down into the stool. Immediately, Master Jiraiya met his eyes, wisdom about to drip from his tongue once again. "You need to go apologize."
"Why? She clearly doesn't want that right now."
"Well, to start, you insulted her clan which is a big no-no. Imagine saying that to an Uchiha. You're lucky she let you off so easily."
"Yeah, Kakashi. You kinda just attacked her out there in the street," Naruto added.
Jiraiya continued, "Mainly though, the longer you let her stay angry, the worse it'll be for you in the end. Trust me."
"She said don't follow her."
"And you're actually going to listen?" The older man laughed. "You and her fighting reminded me a lot of young Tsunade and I. And let me tell you, you don't just let a woman like that go. I sure did. It’s not a fun time."
"Yeah, Kakashi sensei, go find Y/N."
The jounin stood from his stool and slapped a ramen voucher onto the counter top to pay for his meal. This really didn't seem like a good idea, he had to admit. But he would trust the process. This was the author of his favorite romance series, after all. How could he get something like this wrong? To put blind faith into Jiraiya on realistic romantic matters was probably the not the wisest thing to do, but it was the only thing he had to go on. "I'll go, but this doesn't sound like good advice."
"If you let this go, she's might run into the arms of another man for comfort. Do you want that?"
Tch, there was no way she was gonna do that. She barely had any friends. If anything she would go see Kurenai. Still, he pulled back the cloth at the entrance and muttered, "I gotta catch up to her."
"'Atta boy," Jiraiya cheered, waving off the copy nin. "Another bowl, Naruto?"
"Yes, please!"
Kakashi walked down the streets, looking for the woman he was sent on a mission to find and apologize to. He searched through the shops and the stands for her, walked by her apartment no sign of her. It wasn't until he stumbled by the bookstore that he found her eyeing down the display out front, leaning comfortably on her crutch.
"Y/N," he called to her, and he watched as she tensed up without a second. He caught up to her, walking to stand beside her in front of the store windows. "I need to talk to you."
"What do you want?" She questioned, peering over at him with a quirked brow. He seemed calmed down by now. Thankfully. "Also, didn't I tell you not to follow me?"
"You did, but Jiraiya told me to apologize."
"So this isn't even on your own accord, you're doing it because Jiraiya told you so." He groaned. Of course she would twist his words and find some way to make things bad on his end. She was angry with him, what did he expect to happen? Her to accept him with open arms?
"Listen, I'm sorry for yelling at you. I was just overwhelmed."
"With what? I wasn't paying attention to anything but the anger." She picked at her finger nails in an attempt to remain casual, but really she was just itching to hear what he had to say. She was willing to give him a second chance, only because he was normally so sweet. This was just out of character for him.
He replied, "I was scared for you. Naruto told me about how you nearly died, and I was upset that you did that. I was upset because I could only think about what if you had been overpowered and the enemy killed you." His explanation was weak, but he hoped she would accept it as truth. He really wasn't lying. When he heard she was in the hospital indefinitely, he nearly had a heart attack himself. He worried for her every time she left on a mission without him. It just meant that if she failed, he wasn't there to protect her himself. He couldn't handle that thought.
"So you were worried?"
"Yes."
"Well, that's sweet of you, isn't it?"
"I'd miss you, you know. If you died."
She froze. That wasn't what she expected him to say. When she looked over at him, he was just staring into the storefront window, but she could feel the sadness in waves running off his body. She wobbled around on her crutch to face him, a hand getting coming up to rest on his shoulder. "It's okay."
"I don't want you going on missions without me because every time it scares the shit out of me thinking they'll bring you back dead. Every time. I don't know why."
"It's normal to worry for your teammates."
"It's not the same, and you know it."
"Ah." And she felt it. Even if it was just a little hint of something, she felt his infatuation roll off his body and she took it in like a drink of cold water. So refreshing. Was he attracted to her? She had no idea before this that he cared so much but from the sound of it, he had some strong feelings attached. She wanted to reach out and hug him, tell him it was going to be okay, but that felt too personal. Instead, she leant back and muttered, "You know, Kakashi, I worry about you too."
"It's good we both have someone who cares, right?"
"Right."
"Well, I should be on my way, but, uh, if you need some help getting up to your apartment-"
"I should be fine."
"Okay, good."
"Yeah, so uh, see you," she turned on her heel and started heading in the other direction toward her home when suddenly, his hand reached out to stop her.
"Wait, Y/N. I think..."
"What is it?"
"It's just that I need you. Please be careful from now on."
She stopped, turning around just enough to get a good look at his face. He only watched her, a glimmer of something she didn't recognize in his eye.
"As long as you take care of yourself too, Mister."
"Y/N, I…"
All she could feel was a rough fabric rubbing against her face for a second before the full picture came into view.
Mask to lips. I repeat, mask to lips.
She stared at him, as he kissed her right there in front of their favorite bookstore. When he pulled away after a second, he seemed just as shocked as she was. She pressed a hand to her forehead and struggled to find the right words to say.
Kakashi Hatake just kissed her.
And she definitely liked it. More than any other kiss she’d ever had before. She loved it. Mask or not, that was one of the best surprises of her entire life, and she honestly had no idea how to react. She settled for the easiest possible thing, running in the opposite direction, give herself time to think over what that meant for the two of them if anything at all. Kakashi wasn’t the type to have a girlfriend, he was always single. There just wasn’t room in his life for her.
There was plenty room in her life to fit him in comfortably. And there was more than enough room in her bed as well.
Flustered, with heat coming to sit in her cheeks and run up her neck, she turned and motioned in the direction of her home. She just had too many thoughts to sit here and pretend she wasn’t dying inside from the tension.
"I've got to run home now," she managed to say. "Well, not run, with these crutches and all, but you know what I mean."
"Yeah, I should be going too. I'll see you around,” he mumbled, running his hand through his hair and down the back of his neck.
"See you."
And into separate directions they went, just as confused as ever.
______
"Kakashi, I swear to God, if you don't stay on your side of the bed, I'm gonna-
"You'll what? Hit me? Go ahead. You're the one that keeps snoring."
"Shut up!" she exclaimed, rolling over in the bed and planting her fist directly in the middle of his chest. He didn't even flinch, she hadn't meant to hurt him anyway. She was just so annoyed. You would think that the stoic Hatake would be easy to sleep beside but no, he was a pain in the ass. He was rude. He was way too hot under the sheets. He still smelled like dog even after taking a bath. Just overall a bad experience, definitely 0 out of 10.
"What? It's the truth."
She groaned, throwing one of her arms over her eyes, burying her nose in the crook of her elbow. "Whatever. Don't ever mention my snoring again. It’s embarrassing me." She was self-conscious. She was usually so good at maintaining a cool and calm presence and now Kakashi was seeing that all crumble. Great.
"Fine."
"Can't you just stay on your side so we can both sleep comfortably?"
"Can't you just stop snoring so I can sleep comfortably?"
What a bastard. She could practically feel him snickering beneath his mask, and she felt frustration bubbling up in her chest. He was annoying. The audacity of this man, laughing and causing trouble in the night when they clearly had a mission to continue tomorrow. She could actually feel the delight radiating off his form.
She jumped up from her spot and threw herself onto the man beside her, attempting to make a vicious grab for the throat so she could maybe shut him up for just a few seconds. He dodged easily, taking her wrists in his calloused hand and lowering them to rest on his chest. Still, he continued to laugh at her. She felt like an utter joke sitting there on his stomach, looking at him through loose strands of her hair.
She grumbled under her breath, her cheeks puffing out full of embarrassment, "Stupid."
"Me? Stupid? Look at you."
She replied swiftly, "What about me? You're the one with that ugly grin on your face." Quickly, she snatched her hands out from under his to cross her arms over her chest. She rocked back a bit on her knees to get a better look at his indeed ugly face.
Except he definitely wasn't ugly, and that grin was more devilishly handsome than anything else. And honestly, she felt herself starting to get flustered in the position she'd put herself in. Of course she didn't hate Kakashi. He was one of her friends and coworkers. It was just that sometimes he could be casually attractive and she found herself falling under his spell.
He just looked so fucking good lying there, staring up at her with a glimmer in his dark eyes. She could see the smile outlined under his mask. His hands had felt warm and firm around her own fingers. She missed his touch, there she said it, any touch on her body from Kakashi Hatake felt like heaven. He was far too cute, and the soft contact between them drove her crazy.
She wanted to punch herself for thinking such silly things. This was Kakashi, one of her frenemies. Not boyfriend material. Stupid. Silly.
If only he didn't look so good, Jesus christ. Get your brain out of the gutter, Y/N.
Little did she know, his mind was already waist deep in those damn gutters and he was loving it.
"You really think that?"
"What? That you're ugly?" She asked, tilting her head to the side just a bit as if to think about it. Only a second later, another mischievous smile crossed her lips. "Of course."
He lifted his fingers to slid along her waist and down to her hips, fingers curling ever so slightly around her curves. She shuddered as his hands slid down to hold the sides of her bare thighs in his hands, his warm, strong hands with the softest fingertips. She wanted to die.
Had they kissed before? Yes. We're they somewhat romantically involved? Maybe. Did that give him any good reason to rest his rough hands on her thighs like that? Probably, and her thoughts were running a mile a minute at this point.
"Kakashi...stop that," she said softly, her voice lowering from how it was before. She suddenly felt a lot smaller, scared even. Hooking up with Kakashi wasn't something she planned on doing anytime in the near future, if at all. He was her friend, and she felt strange sitting in his lap with his hands all over her. It felt so right but wrong at the same time, like she was breaking the law. Well, laws of friendship that is.
She cared about Kakashi, more than she wanted to admit. He wasn't just a friend, he was something weirdly in between and she couldn't exactly put her finger on how she felt about him. All she knew was that if she was going to have sex with this man, it would be the right way. They would have to date first. She wasn't just gonna sleep around this time. He was different.
She wanted to impress him, to make him smile and laugh, to take him out to dinner and hold hands on their way home, to kiss at her doorstep. She wanted all of that before any of this.
His hands dropped from her sides and she crawled away from him, grabbing her blanket and cradling herself in it. "Listen, Y/N, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."
"I know, it's not your fault. Don't worry about it."
It was quiet. Just the sounds of both their breaths filling the air and the crickets chirping in the darkness outside. She shifted in her blanket to rest her head on the wall, leaning against it with her shoulder. He remained on his back, staring up at the empty ceiling tiles.
It was now so terribly awkward. Thanks, Y/N.
Finally, he broke the silence. "You, uh, don't snore all that much. I was just teasing you."
"Thanks," she exhaled. "You're not as ugly as I said."
"I know."
Wow, Kakashi. So modest.
Her words fell right into place as she spoke, emotions slipping out with each breath. She looked at his profile in the dark, the way his bedhead stood on end, his nose pointed upward and his lips sat calmly, the curve of his chin under the edge of his mask, the way his eyes just sat there unmoving and gentle, brows soft above the eye. She took in all of him as she confessed, "I just don't want it to be like this. I don't want to fall for you this way."
"I get it."
"I just think that you and I could be something different. You're not like the other guys to me, at least, I don't think of you that way," she took a deep breath. He still stared deep in the ceiling, and somehow it made her comfortable enough to confess everything she'd been feeling. It was as if he could just lay there and listen without words forever. "I don't want you to just fuck me before we really...well I don't know, we've never even been on a date. I...I think I'm ready to fall in love with you."
"Then let's do it."
She peered over at him, lips agape with surprise. She hadn't expected much at all, but certainly not that. "What?"
"When we get back to the village, I'll take you on a date, more if things go well. We can take it as slow as you want," he told her, turning to lay on his side, facing her. He watched as she cuddled further into the comforter, only a peek of her face in his view. She was actually kinda cute through all those worn and torn layers. "I don't think I can let you go this time."
"Really?"
"Anything for you."
She ducked her head down to stare at the hardwood beneath her feet. She was overwhelmed by how nice he was being. Normally, it didn't go like this. Things normally got sexual so quick there wasn't even a chance for these sorts of conversations. It was just different with Kakashi. She could say no to him and expect better, because she knew he could deliver. "No one has ever treated me like this before."
He smiled. "Well, it's about time someone did."
"Can you hold me?"
"Come on." He lifted his arm up with the covers attached so she could crawl over and burrow herself next him, tucked right against his side. He rested his arm around her shoulders and held her close to his chest. Things were looking good for the both of them. Better than they had in a long time.
He wished this kind of thing could last forever. The beating of her heart, the laughter in her voice, the shine in her eyes. He just wished he could have bottled it all up and held it close to him for the rest of his life.
But he waited too long, and the opportunity slipped from his grasp.
______
The pair fought hard. Kakashi was better than her, everyone knew that. The enemy targeted her for that reason. It was clear as day that she was important to Kakashi, and the enemy quickly caught onto that. He was quick to bring the knife to her neck, pressing the woman’s back tightly to his chest. The blade stung her skin, already piercing the flesh from the bit of pressure he applied.
She cried out, feeling a trail of blood begin running down her neck. Her nails clawed at his arm, desperate to get him to release her from his clutches, but he persisted. One hand held onto her chin tightly, keeping her face from thrashing, and the other continued to apply more and more pressure into the blade.
For the first time in a long time, she found herself feeling unrestricted fear. She was scared. Scared for her life. She’d never been in this situation before, feeling so completely and utterly helpless like a deer caught in the headlights. Kakashi was right there, she should have known everything was going to be okay. After all, she had the village’s strongest veteran on her side.
It wasn’t the pain that caused the tears to bubble up in the corners of her eyes, no, it was Kakashi. The way his eyes darted over to the them, and she could feel his heart beginning to race, the hairs on the back of his neck standing on end, and the fear creeping up into his heart. He never wore his heart on his sleeve. He was so closed off, sometimes she could only get a wisp of emotion from him, especially the ones that showed such vulnerability.
Now it all seemed to come tumbling out like a landslide. She was drowning in fear, his and her own.
“Let her go,” he called out, practically pleading with the man across from him, but it was in vain.
“Like I’d listen to some filthy leaf shinobi,” the spy replied angrily. He felt so hot, burning up with so much anger she wanted to throw up. What had they done to upset him this badly? Her jaw was starting to ache from being held so tightly, and she swore she could taste blood running down her throat. This was bad. This was so terribly, miserably bad.
Kakashi stood there, his hands hovering at his sides, unknowing of what to do. She was already bleeding out all over the collar of her shirt. If he made a single move, the man could easily finish the job with one fatal swipe. The copy nin felt cornered. Hopeless. What was there left to do? He’d let the love of his life fall in the hands of some petty criminal.
Come on, think of something. Anything. Just think of something.
“What? You upset I’ve got your little girlfriend here?”
God, he was so desperate. The man taunting him didn’t help at all. He just felt himself spiralling deeper into hopelessness. He bargained, “Please, just let her go. I’ll give you whatever you want.”
It wouldn’t work though. This man was set in his ways, and there was no changing that. He came into this fight knowing exactly what he wanted to do. And he was going to finish the job.
“This is for what you shinobi have done to my people,” he sneered before she felt the knife dip further into her neck, sliding painfully across her throat. He dropped her head from his grasp, and as soon as he had, her body crumbled down to the ground. She collapsed in a bleeding heap on the dirt.
The criminal quickly ran into the forest behind them, getting lost among the trees and the bushes within seconds. None of that mattered though. Kakashi could only run over to her limp body lying there on the ground, sputtering and coughing on thick blood filling her throat and lungs. Her cheeks and lips painted red now from spitting so much up. He fell to his knees beside her body, and for the first time in a long time, he felt a tear drip down his face.
She cried, hot tears running down her cheeks into the dirt on either side of her head. She cried for her pathetic self, having been attacked and injured in this way. She cried for Kakashi, feeling the pain and sadness, the panic, radiating off his form. She took in every emotion he was feeling, wanting to savor being with him for as long as she had, to fully take him in one last time.
“Y/N, it’s gonna be okay,” he whispered, his hands running over her hair and cheek, smearing blood on her skin and his fingers. “We’ll bring you back to the village. The Hokage can fix you.” His words were so soft into the air, like if he spoke any louder he would hurt her.
They both knew that none of what he was saying was true. She was as good as dead.
She lifted her hand weakly to sit on his other hand. “I…” The woman took a labored breath.. “Love you, Kashi.”
“No, no, no. Don’t say that,” he hushed her, feeling his heart grow heavier in his chest with every second that passed, every look at her bloody neck and face, her laboring chest as she took hopeless breaths. He was falling apart in this moment, desperate for fate to change, for her to magically be better. He choked, “You can’t die, Y/N.”
“It’s okay.” Her words were slurred and hard to hear, liquid bubbling up in her throat to the point she was almost incomprehensible. “I love you,” she confessed once again. She wanted those to be her last ever words to him, the words he would remember for the rest of his life. To know someone out there loved him more than anything else.
He had to know that he was her everything. He was the best thing that ever happened to her, and she was going to miss him so terribly wherever her soul went after this. She just wished there was more time to tell him everything she felt. Yet, time was passing faster than she thought, and all those words felt impossible.
“I love you, too. You have to live for me. Just keep breathing, it's going to be okay.”
“It...hurts.”
More misery erupted his chest, and he found himself wanting to scream. Tears dripped steadily down both his cheeks now as he watched this woman die in front of him, one of the only people he truly needed in his life. “I know, baby, I know. I’m sorry I let this happen to you.”
She nodded faintly, her eyes beginning to close. He was starting to panic. Was this his last moment to say goodbye? Their time together was so short, how was this fair? He’d already lost everyone he ever cared about, and now this? He felt like the gods were laughing down at him and his misfortune.
“You were the best thing that ever happened to me. I don’t know how I’ll do this without you.”
She didn’t respond, but she was still breathing.
“Y/N, please.”
And he watched as her chest fell still and her labored breaths were silent on his ears. He found himself gathering her form up against his chest, her head cradled in the crook of his neck, just sobbing into her hair, weeping for a long lasting love gone in an instant.
 He carried her body home that day himself. Something he never anticipated happening, but should have prepared for. He always thought he was going to watch as someone else carried her home to him, death long gone before he had the chance to see. He never thought it would be right in front of him. He thought he could protect her, save her from the clutches of fate. He was so wrong.
Kakashi was alone once again.

He kept his head on the table for a few more minutes in silence after Kakashi had, surprisingly given him a break from all the teasing and actually apologised. But he didn’t have to apologise for what had happened. Because it wasn’t his fault. It was quite sweet of him to say these things, though…
They had gone to have a nice meal, and a… couple of drinks (or more) after a hard day of work. Actually, a hard week of work. And things had gone… a little different than usual.
Shikamaru eventually lifted his head and rest his chin rest on the table instead. His face was still red, but he wasn’t having a mental breakdown anymore.
“We… joined a few others for some food and drinks. It was a nice, fun time. We needed it. You needed it, you have worked really damn hard this past week and it would do you some good to relax and have fun.” he began, glancing up at Kakashi and then looked away again as he sat up. There had probably been quite a lot of laughter which had led to flirting as a joke to actual flirting, from both.
“On our way home… I don’t really remember what we were saying, but… I think I ended up kissing you.” he admitted, “Then I left you by your building and was on my way home… but I… stopped and went back to your place… I let myself in, …and I began kissing you again.”quite passionately, yes. “I’m… assuming I don’t need to go further into detail about the rest..?”
“So… I don’t think you should be the one to apologise here. And while we’re on thatparticular note… you should fire me and… report me, probably.”
Shikamaru then decided to share what he remembered. Kakashi also remembered that they went out and joined a few others. He also knew there was food and drinks and yes…thinking about it also some teasing and flirting. Since he enjoyed messing with people he also enjoyed the push and pull of flirting.
Hearing it there were some images coming back. Shikamaru’s laughing, flushed face, Shikamaru pressing him against a wall, kissing him. He had been surprised but really past the point of caring. When Shikamaru had returned to continue what he had started, reason had left the room entirely. Both of them had not cared about any consequences and were following instinct and desire alone. He did not know the details but he had enjoyed it. He knew that much by now.
“Nah don’t be ridiculous…I’m not going to fire or report you” he said with a frown, shaking his head.
“To whom am I supposed to report you? Myself?”
He caught Shikamaru’s gaze and shrugged.
“We are good then ne? I mean two consenting adults and since you kissed me first I did not molest my employee…that’s good…I mean of course this will not matter if your mother ever hears of this or Kurenai…they will kill me that’s for sure” he said, resting his chin on the palm of his hand.
“Since it was not even bad sex…I think… there is nothing to regret then ne?”
narasnooze
Shikamaru groaned, again rubbing his face with both his hands and even running them back through his hair a little bit before taking a frustrated, not-so-calming breath. How could this have gone from awkwardly waking up next to Kakashi in bed, to utterly maddeningly awkward ten to fifteen minutes of just talking and trying to sort this out?!
Oh. That’s right. Because Hatake Kakashi loved to mess with people, and apparently with Shikamaru the most it seemed, just because why? Because he was an absolute idiot?? Yes. Yes, he was. To Hell with all this high expectance of him being so damn smart. To Hell with it! He was a moron and.. and terrible at these situations. He became so nervous he might as well be as braindead as a rock!
“Oh, get over yourself..!” The shadow user could almost feel himself start to implode. His face was as scarlet as the character for Fire on the Hokage’s robe. He was going to refuse to answer.
Those very same vulgar words and the continuously requested information about what had happened, which Shikamaru now had, because of weak nerves, admitted he remembered, had him finally pushing back from the table a bit, only to let his forehead hit the table to finally be able to fully hide his ugly, stupid, blushing face away from Kakashi’s teasing eyes.
“…why do you hate me this much…” he mumbled. “Fine…”
Why wouldn’t he be a happy part of it aside from it being absolutely inappropriate right?
“With all these frustrated sounds I start to feel like I haven’t done my paperwork properly.”
That’s when Shikamaru usually got frustrated with him.
Alright maybe no crush then.
With a heavy thud Shikamaru’s forehead hit the table. Nah… maybe he had overdone it a little there.
“Maa alright then…apparently you’d rather not talk about it understandably…as I said I usually do not have the tendency to start things like that…if I did I’m sorry… I should not have.”
Apologising was a rare thing for him. Considering the circumstances it was the appropriate thing to do.
“It’s your decision of course if you still want to be my assistant or not. Unfortunately I cannot quit being Hokage…I tried that before…if you want a different position just say so and we will see what can be done.”
It would suck. Shikamaru was damn good as an assistant. Kakashi would have fucked that up all on his own though. What else was new? Creating issues was his second favourite hobby obviously.
He did not know what else to say really. It was quite a mess and he really had no clue how to interpret all that flushing and blushing from Shikamaru there.
“We can also pretend it never happened or accept it happened and don’t talk about it… it’s your call…” he added and fell silent. If it had been just a one night stand to get satisfaction for physical needs and Shikamaru had been up to it as well they were good right?

The kind of YANDERE Naruto characters are
word count: 494
Warning this has Yandere themes in it.
This has Naruto, Sakura, Sasuke, kakashi, hinata, kiba, shino, kurenai, shikamaru, ino, choji, asuma
Akasuki are next (itachi, Pein, konan, kisame, sasori, deidara, Tobi/obito, hidan, Kakuzu,
Give me a character from Naruto, Demon slayer, Attack on titan, MHA and I’ll tell you what yandere they are
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Naruto
Worshipper/harmless
Honestly you lucked out on the fact that he won’t hurt you. He’ll treat you like a God if you accept his feelings. If you don’t well he won’t force you too or hurt your partner if you have one.
Tumblr media
Sasuke
The trainer
Don’t think your safe for even a second with him. If you don’t at least pretend like you love him you’ll most likely end up end. Sasuke is a man with a lot of pent up anger and trauma. You rejecting him will make him violent, but you’ll learn eventually.
Tumblr media
Sakura
Delusional
She’s probably convinced herself that you love her and have confessed to her. No matter how you treat her she’ll think your being mean because your embarrassed of your feelings, if you cry,It’s cause your overwhelmed. She’s super sweet to you so that’s a win unless you break a rule that is
Tumblr media
Kakashi
Monopoly type
This is one of the most common types. He’s super protective of you and doesn’t like anyone you hang out with even Guy. If/when he kidnaps you don’t expect to leave the house a lot. Maybe for a reward he’ll allow you to go out for a date.
Tumblr media
Hinata
Harmless
She will try her hardest to become your lover but honestly she’d be content with being someone you consider a friend. Expect small gifts from her and please take them
Tumblr media
Kiba
Monopoly
Kiba is another monopoly type but this sits on his insecurities. He’s not the strongest or the prettiest or the smartest. He would be absolutely infatuated with you obviously not in a good way. Akamaru is the only other person/thing aloud near you.
Tumblr media
Shino
Worshipper and harmless
Shino isn’t violent at all. As long as your happy and safe everyone else will be too. He wouldn’t kidnap you on the sole basis that he doesn’t want you too be scared off him.
Tumblr media
Kurenai
Delusional
Funny how the genjustu user is under a delusional. She won’t hurt you but when it comes to those who do? Well you’d be surprised about the torture that genjustu can cause.
Tumblr media
Shikamaru
Trainer
Despite how lazy he is he does have brains. Shikamaru most likely has some kind of blackmail on you in order to get you to do what he wants. You can’t trick this man. Pretending also wouldn’t work.
Tumblr media
Choji
Harmless
Choji wouldn’t do anything to harm you. In fact he does everything in his power to do the opposite. Whether it be sharing his food or training with you. Obviously your probably also friends with shikamaru. Overall if you were to have a yandere after you hope it’s someone like choji.
Tumblr media
Ino
Dependent
She lives for you. She will kidnap you In Order for her to be happy. It’s in your best interest and everyone else’s that you don’t leave her.
Asuma
Trainer
I can’t see him as anything but a trainer you probably give into him easily. He’s a high ranking jonin. Love him back and he can protect you from anything.(except hidan)
And Everyone Else Knew It
A drabble for Day 5 of @kakaobiweek Blue | Safe | Mutual Pining
Brief mature humor, romance, and fluff. I hope that you enjoy reading it!
And Everyone Else Knew It
Kakashi combed his cowlicks with his fingers and tried to steady his heart as he hurried to meet with Obito.
It was part of the latter’s conditional release to have regular meetings with a member of Konoha’s security force. As Hokage, Kakashi was not only the top of the law and order food chain in the village, he was also the only one with authority to pardon anyone for war crimes. As such, the Council of Elders decided that he would be the one assigned to supervise Obito’s rehabilitation and integration back into society. But there was a problem with this arrangement.
Obito was hot, and Kakashi had it bad for him.
His attraction to his old teammate and hero set in almost the exact moment they were reunited on the battlefield during the Fourth Great Shinobi War. The shock over the fact that Obito was most certainly not dead lasted for a fraction of a second, replaced by the shock over the handsome man he’d become. Kakashi barely had an opportunity to make sense of his conflicted feelings before they fought in their Kamui dimension, where he wished they were exchanging blows of an entirely different variety.
But that would be impossible, even after the impossible became possible.
Just because Obito was alive didn’t mean he could return Kakashi’s feelings. Any daydream in which the Rokudaime might indulge quickly ended with the cold, hard fact that a man who would start an international war over a female was probably, most likely, definitely not into dudes.
Even though he wore a watch these days, Kakashi checked the sun’s position in the sky to determine the time. He quickened his pace when he realized he was running late. Running late was Obito’s schtick, and now that he was back, it seemed silly to Kakashi to mimic the habit. At least, that’s what he told himself to explain why he would always hurry to their meetings, not because he was excited to see him or anything.
The funny thing was, was that Obito wasn’t arriving late to their meetings, either.
Kakashi attributed Obito’s punctuality to his desire to make a good impression on his parole officer instead of desiring his parole officer. But what a delicious fantasy that was; it was one that Kakashi turned to often in private and one that he shook clear from his mind as he opened the door to the restaurant where they agreed to meet. They had important things to discuss this time.
Obito said he'd undergone many changes recently, so Kakashi suggested they'd meet in a more casual atmosphere than his office. That way, it could be more like two friends having a conversation instead of abiding by the guidelines of Obito’s punishment.
However, when Kakashi spied Obito waving to him from where he was already seated in a booth, the Rokudaime wondered if he’d set himself up for additional hurt by arranging what could feel more like a date to him than a meeting.
Kakashi nodded a curt greeting at the three remaining members of Team Ten, who enjoyed their weekly dinner together in the booth next to Obito before joining his unrequited crush.
“I hope you don’t mind, but I’m starving, so I already ordered for us,” Obito said as soon as Kakashi sat down.
“That’s fine,” Kakashi was too nervous to have an appetite, anyway. “So, you mentioned that a lot has happened since the last time we met,” he folded his hands in front of him on the table, “you should be moved into your new apartment by now.”
“I am,” Obito nodded.
“How do you like it?”
“I mean, it’s an apartment,” Obito looked down at his lap. “It’s small, but it’s bigger than my prison cell and comfier than a cave.”
Kakashi hummed thoughtfully in response, quietly considering how Obito lived for so long in hiding and doing his best to ignore how his heart ached for the man.
“My neighbor is a kind woman,” Obito continued, briefly meeting Kakashi’s gaze. “She’s elderly; her eyesight isn’t great, and I don’t think she knows who I am,” he smirked sheepishly. “I help her carry her groceries up the stairs, and she brings a plate of whatever she bakes that day, which is really nice.”
This sent Kakashi’s aching heart into somersaults, and he figured he better say something while he still could talk. “Are you forming connections and friendships with others?”
“Yeah, y’know, Gai comes around with his student, Lee, and they invite me to train with them. They, uh,” Obito chuckled, “gave me a matching leotard, and I like sparring with them, but I don’t think green is my color,” he laughed. “It’s nice to feel included, though.”
“Gai is pretty great that way,” Kakashi agreed, thankful for his old friend and rival.
“Kurenai smiles and waves at me when I see her at the cemetery these days, so I hope that we’ll become closer over time.”
Kakashi nodded, shifting uncomfortably in his seat and ignoring how his stomach tightened.
“I dunno, there’s only one person that I talk to a lot since I’ve come back, and that’s, well,” Obito mirrored Kakashi’s discomfort across the table, “I mean, everything about my life is complicated, but that’s really complicated.”
“How so?”
“Well, they’re pretty great,” Obito’s sheepish smile returned.
Kakashi noted that when it seemed that everything else about his old teammate had changed, that expression remained the same. Then he realized that he was lost in thought, not listening as Obito continued to talk.
“...And they make me feel safe. Which, after everything I’ve been through, that’s pretty important.”
Kakashi kicked himself for not paying attention to Obito because whatever he said made him blush.
“Anyway, that’s hopeless,” Obito muttered.
“Why?” Kakashi asked.
“Well, I was kind of a jerk to them when I was a kid, and… and then I went and messed everything up.”
Kakashi leaned over the table closer to Obito to emphasize his earnestness. “People are learning that you were taken advantage of, Obito. Yes, you did terrible things, but you were manipulated when you were vulnerable. Then, you fought alongside the Allied Shinobi Forces when we needed it, and most importantly, you aren’t running from the repercussions of your actions. That’s why I could pardon you, and it’s why people are able and willing to forgive you.”
“Do you forgive me?”
“Here’s your broiled saury,” a waitress interrupted, and Kakashi sat back in his seat so she could set his dinner down on the table in front of him.
Obito thanked her and assured her that they had everything they needed before leaving them alone at their table.
“This is my favorite,” Kakashi muttered.
“Yeah, I know,” Obito replied off-handed, reaching for his utensils.
As casual as it seemed to Obito, the gesture touched Kakashi. He swallowed down the dangerous beginnings of hope before it could take hold of his exhausted heart and sought to encourage Obito in all of his pursuits. “If I’ve learned anything from being Naruto’s teacher, it’s that nothing is ever truly hopeless.”
“There’s a first time for everything,” Obito spoke through a mouthful of food, and it amazed Kakashi that he could find even that attractive.
“They’re popular, like, really popular, internationally popular,” Obito’s eyes bulged as he stressed the point. “They could seriously have just about anyone they wanted, and I can’t exactly compete with that,” he finished, clearly crestfallen. “Anyway, let’s talk about something else.”
Kakashi was not a romantic man, and he knew it, and he also knew that he didn’t have a chance in hell with the man that sat across from him, no matter how much he yearned to reach out and reassure Obito that he was worth loving, and—
Kakashi chewed his dinner and choked on the word ‘love’ when it crossed his mind. He was in way deeper than he thought and decided that a change of subject was probably best. “You mentioned that you found a job,” he offered.
“Oh, yeah!” Obito perked up at the opportunity to share his good news. “I may not be a ninja anymore, but I’m still in pretty good shape.”
Really good shape, Kakashi thought.
“So, I was offered a modeling contract.”
Kakashi dropped his fork in his surprise, and it clattered on the table.
Obito laughed at him. “I know, it’s unexpected, but,” he chuckled again and awkwardly scratched the back of his head. “Looks like I’m going to be the next bad boy in Blue Boy.”
“Blue Boy?” Kakashi repeated, astonished. “The gay men’s lifestyle magazine?”
“You know it?” Obito asked, wide-eyed.
“Yeah, but I didn’t think you were into— I-I, I mean, I’ve bought a few editions,” Kakashi felt his mouth go dry, “for the articles.” And if Obito would be featured in its photo spreads, he’d be buying a subscription.
“Right,” Obito drawled sarcastically, and Kakashi felt seen. “Anyway, to be honest, I was amazed too,” he fiddled with the straw in his drink, “I don’t exactly consider myself to be fashion model material.”
“You’re hot!” Kakashi was juggling too many surprises, and as a result, dropped his filter. Then he did his best to pick it up and put it back on when Obito’s eyes snapped to his face. “I mean, that’s hot, I mean, good for you,” he wished for the earth to open up and swallow him, or for an assassin to show up intent on taking him out, or—
“You think I’m hot?” Obito asked quietly, tenderly, longingly.
Kakashi licked his lips and opened his mouth to speak but closed it when everyone heard Shikamaru’s groan from the table next to them.
“Mendokusē! Would you two just kiss already?”
Both men sat in silence, staring at each other. Kakashi felt as flushed as Obito looked.
“Shikamaru’s right,” Choji agreed. “You two are worse than a one-hundred-thousand-word slow burn fanfic.”
“Oh, I love those!” Ino gasped.
“A what?” Kakashi asked.
“Who cares,” Obito answered, his eyes beginning to smolder in a way that Kakashi had only dreamed. “Let’s pay the bill and—”
“My place or yours?” Kakashi flagged down their waitress.
“How about ours?” Obito asked, his Sharingan eye already spinning.
Gai was one of the very few males of his generation that actually got along with the females, and probably was the only kid that was a dude who got invited to the girls sleepover.
Always brought girls necessities for the girls and Kakashi, had no idea what Kakashi was going through as a FTM trans man, but tried his hardest to support him and help him through his transition.
As Sakumo was sadly not alive to support him as well. So Gai supported him twice as much.
He would get his nails painted by the girls, and invited Kakashi over so he could hang out with them too. And paint his nails dark grey, with clear nail polish to make them shiny.
Girls Night plus Kakashi and Gai because they're chill lol
Kakashi's willing to sit there and listen to everyone chatting while they do his nails. It's not really his scene, but he will never turn down being included, and having the chance to just see everyone else relaxing is admittedly a bit of a treat for him.
Kurenai always make's sure there's extra nail polish for Kakashi and Gai. Anko is willing to try her luck at convincing Kakashi to try out some new colours (and even convinces him into hot pink nails exactly once because he was healing and not going on missions anyways). Rin has all of the interesting things to talk about and will absolutely complain about her ridiculous teammates when Kakashi is sitting right there by her side XD
The first time Gai drags him along Kakashi doesn't think he'll have any fun, but he finds it's a nice experience. the girls do his nails and talk to each other, leaving him to think about whatever he wants to and just chill. It's nice.
Gai just generally enjoys hanging around with people and sharing in their hobbies, so he learns fun things from everyone he can. The girls love having someone fun to talk to and they appreciate that Gai always carries things around with him in case any of them need them. Kakashi does as well as a rule, but he's also more likely to forget than Gai cuz he just has other things on his mind.
