The bad kids are an incredibly healthy and supportive friend group BUT OH MY GOD THEY SUCK AT COMMUNICATING!

Half of their problems would be solved if they talked to each other.

Fabian would GLADLY pay for Adaine's components and for Riz's tuition if they asked. He would even get his papa to change his trust fund conditions to include them. Or he would declare Riz and Adaine his nemesis.

They would figure out the reason for Fig's misfortune in a week max. They would march into hell, probably accompanied by both Gorthalax and Sandra Lynn, and demand to break whatever deal she made with whichever demon involved.

If Fabian even suggested he was lonely, the bad kids would organise sleepovers every night. He would circle between the Thistlesprings, the Gukgaks and the Mordred Manor. Lydia would pack him his own lunch.

Fig would immediately start promoting Cassandra's religion on all social media, and get her to thousand followers in a week. The rest of the bad kids would join without hesitation.

If Riz would finally admit the HUGE stress he is under, everyone, even Fig, would stop piling all the work on him and happily write their 10 page essays. They would convince him to see Jawbone, and enjoy his last years in high school. They would band together to find the rogue teacher within a day. They would make sure that Riz's resume is the most impressive CV that the universities have ever received.

They would all gather together to come up with music for Fig and Gorgug's new album. Fabian would choreograph their music videos, Adaine would come up with rhymes, Riz would bring a list of all their adventures, including motifs and connections made, to give her inspiration, Kristen would suggest to make parodies of classic camp songs from her old church.

Adaine would contact Aelwyn immediately to get dirt on Porter, to blackmail him. Gorgug would get permission for his MCAT exams by the end of the week.

And if she would stay on the phone a little longer and admitted how much she is struggling, Aelwyn would immediately return home along with her cats. Then she would drag her sister to Jawbone's door, and force her to give him the components list.

The problem is that even after all those years, after all those adventures, even after the forest of the nightmare king, they still each think of themselves as the weak link. As the person in the group that isn't allowed, doesnt deserve to take space, ask for help. Because they should be able to handle it on their own. Isn't that what adulthood is like?

They would abandon anything and everything to help someone else, as long as that person isn't themselves. As long as they dont have to show their amazing, incredible, powerful, and oh so compassionate friends how weak and imperfect they are in comparison.

five years from now, I wanna see the Bad Kids as adults. In their twenties, figuring shit out for real.

I wanna see Gorgug quit teaching at Aguefort because he can't put up with Arthur's bulltshit. I wanna see him open up some kind of trade/technical school open to adults or concurrent Aguefort students, dedicated to making Artificing accessible.

I wanna see Riz working for the Society of Shadows on paper, but in actuality being undercover for The Celestial Rogue Service. I wanna see him living in Bastion City with a spare room that is always filled by one of his friends.

I wanna see Kristen running a religion that's so different from the one that raised her. I wanna see her embrace her messiness, fall in love with Tracker and Lucy and the women who come to Cassandra for ease in uncertainty.

I wanna see Fabian set sail, learn how to navigate by the stars. I wanna see him stop trying to write his name on the world, and instead hear his name in stories of rescue and kindness.

I wanna see Adaine settle into her role as Oracle, and know how to tell why people come to her for readings. I wanna see her recognize the anxiety of their questions, and give them directions to the nearest Temple of Cassandra instead of answers.

I wanna see Fig write music she cares about, and show Ayda all the ways love manifests. I wanna see her proudly boast about being the only Archdevil to also be a paladin, to direct lost souls to the goddess of conviction.

I wanna see the Bad Kids as grown-ups, confident, and being called on to save the world together again.

I visited the world where Gerard Way was visiting family in Minneapolis on 9/11 so he kept his Cartoon Network job instead of becoming a musician.

It's pretty similar to ours. He didn't go into cartoons as you might expect, but he is way more famous in the comic book world.

As for butterfly effects, MCR doesn't exist, so Twilight doesn't exist, which means 50 Shades of Grey doesn't exist. I couldn't find any references to Stephenie Meyer or E. L. James, so either they didn't go into writing or they didn't use those same pen names.

Robert Pattinson was in Harry P*tter and then mainly independent stuff from then on out.

Kristen Stewart is somehow a bigger star than in this world? She was in Red Revenge, 2012 Soviet film about WW3 happening in the 60s and then in the 80s the survivors come over to the US to find out of anything survives of the cowardly US leadership that started the war. (yes, they shoot Reagan. He's out of his mind and it's shot like Old Yeller). She's been in a lot of USSR films since then, as this greatly raised her profile.

Taylor Lautner seems to have become a writer instead of an actor. He wrote one of the later seasons of Firefly, after it went all season-long-arcs. He technically cameo'd in season 6 but it was just as a guy who ran a casino station. He had like three lines, two of which were "get off my station!" and "guards!"

I didn't see any real differences in the music world. Sometimes you take out a band or form a super-group with interdimensional exploration, and it changes the whole field. Like if you take out Nirvana the 90s look very different, or if you help the Back Road Boys form then the 2010s are all about the retro-country revival. Anyway: MCR, as good a band as they are, don't appear to be one of those "linchpin" bands that affect the whole musical landscape.

BTW, the weirdest one of those? Michael Fucking Jackson. He's a super influential musician, inspired so many others, the king of pop, right? NOPE! If his music career is skipped, then it only affects his siblings and the one hit wonder "Somebody's Watching Me" by Rockwell.

Strange, right? There's more downstream time effects on the music industry from taking out David Hasselhoff!

no because ive watched this stupid show 5 years ago, and i only noticed this now?? how???

ok. some context first. this is about fox' gotham, a prequel series to batman. or at least a potential one with slight changes. one of those changes is the relationship between oswald cobblepot and edward nygma (spelled with a 'y' for mayhap legal reasons? idfk its silly). whats their relationship like in the show? well...

theyre gay af. idk what to tell you.

okay so oswalds gay as fuck. edwards... ambiguous. totally ambiguous. he had a girlfriend or 2 and a half (kristen kringle, the-woman-who-shall-not-be-named (aka kristen but... blonde? this show is weird), and lee. not comfy counting lee, but technically shes one, hence the 'and a half')! very straight, much hetero (on another side note how tf is oswald the gay one, like i know he wears make-up and shit but eddies all about theatrics and showmanship and flair and hOW IS OSWALD THE GAY ONE NEXT TO HIM?? ok anyway).

so oswald was (is. be real.) canonically in love with ed, ed was.........., and 'penguin in love' is a piece of music composed by david russo for season three in which the whole "im in love with my best friend" thing took place.

that song has been used all over season three, as far as i can tell not once in season four, and once in season five.

because yesterday, while in another obsession phase (of which i get one a few times a year. ive only ever watched the show once, in 2019, when it ended. still dream about nygmobblepot though. i dont dream about media, like ever, but with them, its different), i saw 5x8 to satiate my never satisfied craving of nygmob scenes, obviously skipping the main story bc i dont care about that straight shit. i got to the scene where oswald kills mr. scarface and frees arthur penn from said mr. scarface, after which ed shoots him in the head because thats what one does in such a situation, thought "aw how cute", again, as one does, and then realised.

what was that background music just now? rewinds.... oh. oh haha, its 'penguin in love'. how fun.

WHY IS THAT IN THERE. WHY DID THEY INCLUDE IT.

correction. it wouldve made sense to have it here. they used it in 5x5 for the speech about not backstabbing each other (wedding vows for murderers fr fr), so using it again after their relationship has solidified wouldve made sense.

note how im saying 'would have'.

because it would have made sense, if they used it when ed said "i accept you for the person that you are, just as you accept me for the cold logician that i am. thats why this friendship is great." they didnt, though. they used another equally heartfelt song for that. dunno what its called, it sounds a bit like 'penguin in love' but isnt, not sure if that one has a specific meaning like 'penguin in love' does.

so when was the song used? at 36:08 – 36:17. barely ten seconds, right before eds lines, right before ed kills penn.

...right when penn was sitting in oswalds lap because theyd been fighting for the gun and os fell on the ground.

now. the most obvious answer to "why in the fucking hell" would be because ooh this dudes on his lap so sexy, but no. no. 'penguin in love' is about one specific thing: love. the pure kind. the kind that makes you giddy with butterflies in your stomach, kicking your legs, while youre on your bed, writing in your diary about this guy you have a crush on. and oswald and penn do have history, oswald was more or less fond of penn, but not in love (i mean where would he have found the room in his heart if it was already filled with EDWARD EDWARD EDWARD martin my sweet boy EDWARD EDWARD EDWA-). im also definitely not thinking that penn was so happy about being free from mr. scarfaces influence and not having to kill oswald (oh yeah, the horror. who would wanna kill oswald, the guy with the big ego, who never does anything for anyone without some kind of endgoal- well, unless your name is edward of course) that he instantly fell in love with the guy. i can deal with the homicidal kind of crazy, but that? no. thats where i draw the line.

the next most obvious answer is that it was about oswalds love for ed. more believable, since its what the song was made for, but more believable doesnt mean believable. or likely. because even if i 100% believe that hes been loving this dude for so long its not something he has to think about anymore for it to be true, im pretty sure that itd be very random to suddenly focus on that when oswald was just about to die. so no, even if its what the song is intrinsically about.

so next most obvious answer is- wait. thats it. huh? theres no obvious answer anymore? everything else is brainrot? oh. oh well. its been five years, im sure its too late to worry about it now. what the hell.

im sure you know where im going with this. or maybe not. honestly idk what the fuck im talking about-

this is a huge oversimplification, but you get the point. its there. or at least it has to be there because why else do you get so angy that someone is sitting in the lap of your just friend because they were fighting and they ended up in that position totally accidentally? like thats not normal behaviour, for anyone, unless you have possessive tendencies.

i mean its not like penn was a threat in any way. "he wasnt the threat, the dummy was the-" like i understand ed told penn about the submarine which was supposed to be a secret, but come on, like they couldnt make sure penn wouldnt say anything. so why would ed shoot him? its not even like penn was a random dude where that type of thing would be very inconsequential, oswald knew him. hed worked for oswald, and like i said, oswald was more or less fond of the guy. penns just a poor little meow meow, y u kil him eddie? 🥺

unless this fondness was part of the problem. unless ed saw how happy oswald was to see him, got annoyed but let it slide, then used penn attacking os and knowing about the sub as an excuse to kill him. and why would oswald being happy to see penn be a problem to ed? it wouldnt be. it wouldnt be, unless ed thinks oswald is his.

which makes sense. i know im calling him names and calling him out, but like. oswald told him he loved him like 5 times 2 years prior, i dont blame him for believing that maybe theres something to it (especially since that was the point of 3x14, oswald really being in love with him and surprising himself with it). but i thought ed didnt feel the same way? because hes very hetero? because he had a full-on girlfriend before, twice, technically? because-

...why would edward nygma, the man who literally said "i dont love you" to oswald, be jealous of even the idea that maybe penn could have something going on with oswald? and why would he act on it if hes usually so careful to not reveal his feelings (unless its about kristen. the original obsession, the american dream, the just be normal, show them you are normal, and people will accept you)? he wouldnt.

unless oswald just told him that he knows he messed up. that hes sorry for it.

and unless that made him think that maybe theres a chance.

so maybe 'penguin in love' is about more than just oswalds feelings. maybe they were trying to tell us that, yes, we see you traumatised gay kid, were sorry this is all we can give you, but here you go, eds in love with him too, but don’t tell the channel. subtlely. just for barely ten seconds. and maybe it can be enough.

nope, it wont be. im gonna sit here crying about the injustice of not having them kiss on screen in the finale as was originally intended for the rest of my life. seriously though, what is this, nbc's hannibal, where im noticing something new details every single time i watch the show, causing me to spiral? no, i was already spiralling. the spiralling was the reason i rewatched the scene. the scene simply made it worse.

so yeah, im done freaking out about a mediocre show that was cancelled 5 years ago and is honestly not worth anyones time (like, its ok. it might even be better than i remember since its been so long. i doubt it. but its ok).

tl;dr: ive only now realised that a specific gay song plays in a specific episode of a show i watched 5 years ago and the only reason theyd include it in the episode is if the dude that was not canonically in love with the other dude was in fact gay, they just werent allowed to make it canon, so they added the gay song to subtlely tell us about it.

This might be controversial, but I'd actually be pretty excited if Fig does switch to Paladin/Warlock. I'll be sad about her not being a Bard anymore, but I don't think she needs to be a bard to make music and find joy in that.

When we first meet Fig, she's a scared and lonely teenage girl. Her whole life has been turned upside down over the course of a summer, so music is an outlet for her. She can't trust her mom or Gilear, she doesn't have any friends, she's so alone.

And then she meets the Bad Kids, who over and over do things to help her or just be with her. Gorgug learns to play drums with her, Fabian buys her a guitar pick, Adaine sent a Nat 20 into Hell after her, Kristen keeps her protected in twilight, Riz killed a man to make sure he wouldn't hurt them.

Before the Bad Kids, Fig had no one that she could trust to have her back but herself. She's got a lot of feelings that have nowhere to go. She's miserable. But now, she has people she would lay down her life for. They know her, even the stuff she'd rather they didn't. And they love her for the things she doesn't feel she should be accepted for. Deriving her power from the bonds she's formed with the people she loves is honestly so poetic and so true to her character.

I also, again, don't think she needs to be a Bard to love music. I love writing stories, but I'm probably not going to be an author. Having a hobby, or even fully a passion that you explore on your own time, is healthy. I hope she continues with music, but deriving power from how much you love your friends is really beautiful.

Frozen 3 - What We Know So Far - 2024

As with the my 2023 F3 news post, I wanted to make a post that highlights everything we learn in 2024. I have linked the previous year's post below, so you can see the articles and references directly.

What We Know

Frozen 3 is releasing in November 24th, 2027. It was delayed from 2026. Jennifer Lee confirmed that they are aiming for this date.

Frozen 3 is having its story separated into two films.

The team is working on F3 and F4 at the same time.

F3 and F4 are still in early development.

Marc Smith is head of story.

Jennifer Lee is producing and overseeing the project.

Idina Menzel and Josh Gad have confirmed that they are returning. Kristen Bell has also confirmed, but through a temporary Instagram story.

The Lopezes are returning to write the songs.

Only the main films (and possibly short films as well) will be considered canon to F3 and F4.

The writers are trying to answer lingering questions, including more Ahtohallan and Nature Spirits lore, more explanation about Elsa's powers and why Anna does not have magic, Anna's role as Queen, Anna and Kristoff's future plans for children, if Kristoff will be King, Kristoff and Sven's past, what happened to Prince Hans, and more about the Frozen Heart concept.

It has been confirmed that no story leaks have released online, and everything has been kept a secret.

What We Don't Know

Frozen 4 release date.

If Johnathan Groff, or any other major voice actor is returning to the project. Although, it is heavily implied that at least Johnathan Groff will return.

If Chris Buck, director of the previous two films and Frozen Fever, is returning to the project.

In November, Josh Gad did an interview on The View to discuss his new Broadway show Gutenberg! The Musical. Here, he also teased that Frozen 3's story will be Mind blowing, and also hinted that the entire cast of the main five protagonists will return.

"I could share things with you, but Disney would literally escort me out of the building with armed security No, apparently there are two Frozen sequels in development right now — surprise! Equally surprised — and I know Jennifer Lee, who wrote and directed the first two, is hard at work with the team right now. I’ve heard a little bit and I can tell you guys, it’s pretty mind-blowing what’s coming. It’s pretty exciting. And it’s been so great because Kristen, Idina and Jonathan have all come to be guest producers on Gutenberg! The Musical. So we’ll come backstage and we’ll all talk Frozen and then talk this other thing." - Josh Gad

Later on in December, Peter Del Vecho did an interview with The Direct while promoting Wish, where he claimed that the story of Frozen 3 will be amazing.

“Look, we only do sequels if we believe there's enough story to tell. They're working on it up in development, I'm focused on 'Wish'. But it is exciting what they're working on. The first major news we got in 2024 was in February, when Frozen 3's released year was announced. Bob Iger confirmed that along with Toy Story 5, Frozen 3 was set to release in 2026.

On August 10th, 2024 - D23 brought a lot of Frozen 3 news, including the announcement of the delay to 2027, and some major questions that could lead to the main plot points of the two part film. Recording of Jennifer Lee's announcement at D23 provided by the user Keena Kindragon on Youtube.

On August 13th, Deadline released an article with release dates for multiple Disney projects, including Frozen 3. Without any official Disney sources, they stated that the release date is November 24th, 2027.

Frozen II big screen re-watch (part 1)

I had the privilege of watching Frozen II today on the big screen. I'm on a short trip to another state and for some reason, the cinemas there are doing a re run of F2. Boy, was it an emotional trip for me! I felt like I relived 5 years! I last watched F2 on the big screen in 2019 (pre-pandemic). F2 caused me to join Tumblr in Jan 2020 and it's my first ever Fandom.

F2 is definitely much better when you watch it on a big screen. The experience is just so much better. 1) the animation looks so good bigger. You can see micro expressions in the character's faces. The special effects are awesome. 2) the audio experience is so much better with good speakers with bass and surround sound. Both of these make it easier to not focus on the plot flaws.

I teared and teared throughout the show. You must understand, although my blog is quiet now, I was madly in love with F2 in the first year of my blog. Besides making hundreds of gifs, I also wrote essays on locations, the plot, the themes in F2, Elsa's powers, Anna's love, etc. I'm also a musician and the songs and score mean so much to me. I recorded myself playing the piano and guitar to Elsa, Anna, Iduna singing, analyzed musical motifs, made some discoveries of my own (Hansorcery most importantly), made a cappella versions of songs and some humorous mashups.

It was really a trip down memory lane today. I reminisced over scenes that I have giffed. Giffing is a process that makes you really familiar with the scenes as you go over it multiple times till the crop, timing and colour is just right. I was a noob when I first started, and I learnt along the way with help from friendly fans here. I was reminded of those scenes that took my breath away, scenes that made my heart go "awwww", scenes which are funny, scenes which have been focal points of my analyses. I remembered my boobs analyses (lol about how I ogled them for research), Elsa's see through back of travel gown, tender sister moments, cute Bruni gifs, beautiful scenes of the girls, my transition gifs of Elsa riding on Nokk, raw animation, and the list goes on.

I remembered all the music, music which I listened to countless times till I dreamt the music in my sleep (I kid you not, this is a thing that happens to me). I remembered my hair standing during the creepy scenes - the ship scene (on my very first watch I was so worried they were going to reveal the dead bodies of the parents😱) and Olaf dying scene (the 6 notes motif is sooooo creepy you know something bad is going to happen). I felt the power of the fight scenes between Elsa and Gale and Elsa and Bruni and Elsa and Nokk, and Anna vs the giants. I teared at the tender sister scenes in the bedroom and outside the ship. And I teared when Elsa gloriously outran the flood and stopped it with her mighty wall of ice.

I was enthralled by the songs once again. Especially the big three songs. Into the unknown, especially when Elsa steps into the magical forest created by her magic. Show yourself is all about Elsa, Elsa is sooooo gorgeous in that entire song, from her tied back pony tail look to her hair down look to her dress transformation. And for The Next Right Thing I felt how crushed Anna was and how Kristen Bell cried for real in the song as she recorded it. I teared as Olaf died in her arms and that was the moment Anna realized Elsa was dead too.

Had some thoughts about the bad kids class swap, so here's my headcanons about them all if they were bards (very rambly, I'm bad at writing)

Gorgug- when he was small he would play on the pots and pans like drums and his parents wanted to encourage his creativity. Has tried probably every instrument his parents could find or make, it's metalwork. Gets really into drums and some string instruments, can't play alot of brass cuz of tusks but trumpet is easier, French horn is even harder because of the delicate trigger mechanisms, gets really good at clarinet for some reason, so good that it's his secondary instrument in case he breaks all of his drumsticks (true percussionists have like ten spares, sticks break too easy)(and also fiddle, he can play fiddle really well)

Adaine- learned viola because her parents made her, ended up really liking it, switched to "violin" (plays fiddle, can't call it that in front of parents) think Lindsey Stirling, parents got mad when she became a Bard instead of wizard even though they pushed her to learn and get better, hits her dad w fiddle and kills him, her fiddle in s/j year is a gift from fabian and its practically indestructible(gold, made by telamine, theres a side quest where she kicks the devils ass at fiddle)

Fabian- Really likes sea shanties, starts out dancing with his pa, does alot of 2 and 4 steps, lotta linedancing before getting into elven dance, could be a real good master of ceremonies when he starts hip-hop dancing, is in the college of swords but its very piratey, learned fiddle for fun but actually really enjoys it especially the slower more classical melodies favorite spell is suggestion

Kristen- acoustic guitar. Can also play piano but doesn't want to lug around a keyboard. Has a lovely voice but prefers to let her guitar do most of the work, wanted to be a paladin(to helio) like her parents for a while but becomes a paladin of Cass in the nightmare forest, it's wild. When she meets tracker at the black pit they bond over only really knowing worship songs and tracker gives her a book w/ rock sheet music (classically trained) she steals an electric guitar from the black pit and stashes it at fabians house for a while till she moves in with track and jawbone

Riz- (most excited about this one) goblin music is chaos, idk alot about indigenous music, but I like it, riz does alot of throat singing and body drumming, alot of odd noises, his dad used to sing him to sleep, kinda sounds like Tibetan throat singing with alot of clicking and hissing and all that (need to do research) the other bks like it alot, when he gets more comfortable he starts doing more metal (kinda like korn) struggles alot with connecting to his heritage (personal hc; 3rd gen goblin imigrant, sklondas ma came to bastion city for a new life when the rangers moved in on the mountains of chaos, poks dad moved from the other side of spyre (idk) Pok lived in elmville for his whole life, moved to bastion to work for the government culture outreach program, met sklonda, moved back to elmville, had riz, got eaten by a dragon)

i need to talk about this fig headcanon of mine and i cant edit the fic im writing about for like two days so

hear me out. fig knows several very traditional elven dances

i see elven couple dances as ballroom style dances, like a waltz or a slow dance, just endlessly more complicated. obviously theres still the dance style fabian does, which is either a singular person dance or multiple people dancing at the same time but separately, but i think fig knows specifically two person dances and is pretty good at them

so fig in freshman year is all. oh no, prom is coming up? but i cant dance?? and obviously logically nobody will be any good but shes still stressed about it so gilear teaches her one of the simplest elven dances he knows (incredibly complicated but at least hes a good teacher)

and obviously fig cant use that knowledge at prom because *dragon*, but i do think she learns more just from dancing with gilear all the time because she thinks its fun, and i also think adaine knows the same dances so they 100% will dance together

i dont see kristen or gorgug as being able to really do them(on account of either low dex or just the dances inherently not being made for a half-orc body type), and i dont think riz would want to either, but i think adaine does know them and has fun doing them with fig

fabian and fig dont dance until sophomore year spring break passes because he did *know* the dances, from being made to take classes, but he and fig both absolutely refused to be the following role until after spring break

but once fabian is willing to let fig lead (toxic masculinity is dead after all) they also dance! they have lots of fun i think

anyways thats my fig dancing headcanon, i just love the idea of her being taught by gilear and then using it as a way to stay connected to her elven roots. she is still half elf, after all, and so are 2/4 of her parents !

Fabian starts taking his bard classes in junior year and he is crushing it. They're learning all sorts of dances from all over Spyre, including elven ballroom dances, so he has the music in his playlists so he can practice at home. He needs to get both roles of this dance memorised as part of a graded assignment so he organises a study/hang-out session with his friends while he works on it solo.

Its not quite the same as practising with a partner and its complicated so he keeps messing up and tries to goad some of his friends into helping.

Riz is the first person he asks, the goblin is already there before everyone else because he's burning himself out trying to help everyone study while also doing his own homework, but he categorically refuses to dance and argues the height difference would make it weird. It's an elven dance, elves tend to be over 3 feet tall. He has memorised the steps though and helps Fabian with his footwork from the sidelines whenever he catches him messing up, even if he refuses to do the dance properly. Fabian, for a moment, thinks of getting Ayda or Adaine to cast enlarge on the goblin so they'd be the same height for a while but immediatly stomps on that idea because no, it would be weird if Riz was tall. Better to ask one of his other friends instead.

Gorgug offers to help when he arrives for their hangout session but he's not good at dancing at all. He's strong, and he's an athlete, but he has two left feet and his movements are too slow to keep up with the fast-paced footwork. He ends up stepping on Fabians feet so many times that they decide its better not to practice together otherwise they're GOING to have to get Kristen or Fig to heal the half-elf when they arrive. Gorgug takes over manning the music, restarting or rewinding it whenever Fabian asks him to, so that Riz can go back to doing his homework without having to break his concentration every three seconds.

Kristen arrives next, plopping herself down on the ground next to Riz and his impressive spread of papers and notebooks and settles in to watch. Fabian does not ask her to dance with him and she doesnt offer, they both know that if she tries someone WILL break something. Her dexterity score is bad enough that she'd probably even manage to injure either Gorgug or Riz in the crossfire and there are a lot of mirrors to break in Fabians studio. She is pretty strict about making sure Fabian stops every ten minutes or so to drink some water and even forces him to take a proper break and have a snack when he starts looking a bit woozy from low blood-sugar.

By the time Fabian is feeling better Adaine has arrived, the elf plopping down with Riz and pulling out her own homework to get his help with something. Adaine watching Fabian from the sidelines for a few minutes while Riz reads over her notes before mentioning that she knows this dance. Her homework immediatly gets abandoned as Fabian drags her to her feet and gets her to go through the dance a few times with him before she has to stop from exhaustion. She does not have the same level of stamina as their fighter who can literally dance for an entire day before getting tired. Fabian is grateful for the help though because now he has at least got the lead roll memorised. He still has to perfect the following role before his next class but Adaine cant help with that, her parents only ever let her learn the following role so she wouldnt be able to help him as lead.

Fig is, predictably, fashionably late to their hang-out/study session. She doesnt go to any of her bard classes so there's no homework there, and Porters barbarian classes don't really assign homework so she doesnt have any book-work to do so it doesnt matter. Fabian doesnt have to ask her to help him with his footwork, because the instant she clocks what he's working on she dumps her bags and jacket and sweeps in to wheel him around the room as the lead in their dance. She has been waiting for an oportunity to show this off and she takes to it with gusto. She is a bard afterall, and even if her speciality isnt dancing her performance is immaculate due to all of her practice with Gilear.

Fabian, of course, gets an A+.

Wanted to share here, so here's what I think The Bad Kids would be like in a Gravity Falls AU (an au that I am currently writing)

Riz - very Dipper-like, but a loner when he comes into town. Was supposed to be living with Arthur Aguefort, but he left 3 days in and left him with the Thistlesprings. He has his dad's journal that he made as he was investigating the strange things in Elmville, and he uses it to help him investigate the numerous secrets in town. Him and Gorgug start out as reluctant friends but end up as loving brothers.

Adaine - She spends a lot more time out of the Abernant home, mostly because she goes to the library often just to get out. She's interested in the cryptic history of Elmville, but has been unable to do any actual deep investigation outside of history books. She's also magicless (as is the rest of the town, sans a few people) but besides that she's pretty much the same.

(The other Bad Kids aren't AS fully fleshed out but I do have ideas for them all)

Fig Faeth - Sandra Lynn travels a lot, so that caused Fig's rebellious era much earlier in her life. She's less visibly a demon, but she has pretty much the same "emo teenager" personality she had in Freshman year. They've stopped in Elmville and are staying with Gilear for now who yes is still Sandra Lynn's ex-husband. Him and Fig get along fairly easier since she never really had a chance to hate him, but their relationship is still strained.

Gorgug - Probably the most similar to his FH self. He's a freshman without many friends, and is very interested in art and music. However, he started helped his parents with engineering at an earlier age, and has a good understanding of technology compared to most others his age.

Fabian - The hometown hero, more so because of Bill's intimidation than any of his own merit. (people don't really like him) He's not as skilled at fighting, and he is very much the brash, cocky guy he was in Freshman Year. He and Adaine know each other and they have a slight disdain for each other, but haven't interacted for it to be anything concrete. He's a lot less popular during the summer, when everyone is outside of school and he's not playing bloodrush.

Kristen - A lot more in her element here, especially since the Helioic religion is a lot more prevalent in this Elmville. She has a very big interest in religion, and is well-versed in the fifteen most common religion in Spyre, as well as sparce info on thirty others. She acts almost as an "in" to the conspiracy that the Dawn family is the head of (which would be the main background plot in "season 1")

Other miscellaneous info, as mentioned before, the Helioic religion and specifically the Dawn family are sort of the big mystery of Season 1 (that really isn't a "big mystery"

The "Season 2" villain is undecided, but imagine a much longer, full arc of the Nightmare Forest, and that's about what I'm planning currently.

Oh yeah also Riz and Adaine are basically the Dipper and Mabel duo of the story. That's about all I have for it currently, but I've got vague ideas for other NPCs, shorter stories, the world of Spyre where magic is much less common, etcetc

Review first season "Vigil"

I can't get rid of some thoughts when watching season one. Ep 1. Let's continue that what is shown to us on the screen has a second bottom. I know how the story ends, so I can rethink its beginning a little. When Amy runs away, is it not only a system of physical and mental support, but also a way to get away from problems? She has all the time in the world for reconciliation, but she is busy with the usual. Her work brings her back to reality. She needs an event that will stop her usual course of action.

It seems that the boss knows something about the two of them. Just look at his upset look)

And then Amy shows hope, fear, and uncertainty for a few seconds. And it's so layered. I hope none of the pens were damaged during the filming of these seconds)

I'd like to see Kirsten's reaction when the boss hands over Amy's request. Pain? Anger? Hope? Definitely love. For her, it's not only a duty, but also a desire to help and protect, so when Kirsten asks to give up the assignment, he still cares about Amy. She saw different sides of Amy. And she didn't refuse, harboring feelings for Amy months after the breakup.

I won't say that Amy is a bad hostess for Cat, but what would have happened if Kirsten hadn't agreed to stay in Amy's apartment? I'm worried about cat) And we find out that this is not the first time Kirsten has stayed like this with a cat. It's happened before.

They went somewhere together, they were somewhere, maybe someone knows about them, or it's just a reference to colleagues. They just didn't show us.

How good is this scene. Looking around, they look at each other. They look at each other as equals. After a stressful trip, Kirsten says something that can be interpreted ambiguously. This is a phrase not only for Amy's assignment, but also to describe their relationship. And maybe that's all for Amy to try.

Kirsten says "not now", but not later. Kirsten knows how to wait. Let's skip the moment when Amy is wearing a red suit, when she begins her journey deep into not only the depths of the sea, but also herself, and Kirsten has a green color that goes so well with red hair. It doesn't remind me of anything, I swear)

Diving into the past begins not only for Amy, but also for Kirsten. Even the color palette of the scene is painted blue. Blue is the color of loss, loss, grief and loneliness. For Kirsten, this is a chance to reevaluate what happened, go through this path again and maybe come to another exit. Because blue is also wisdom, trust and loyalty. For me, their memories that will be shown to us work for the two of them. One lives this past when he writes, the other remembers when he reads, and vice versa. The life and investigation of one and the other depend on each other, on their common past, trust and attention to each other. And it's also interesting that Kirsten came home to Amy without a bag. Either she gets it out of the car after she looks around the house, or she left some things with Amy after they broke up.

We see the past coming back. And this past affects not only mental health, but also the course of the investigation. I like the idea that Amy's return to life is about creating a common language with Kirsten. Jokes, music, books, tea on the roof, cat, morse code and much more. And this is what will help her cope, only in the first episode she doesn't know about it yet)

fig has a gryphon stuffie named grover after her moms old gryphon before baxter that she sleeps with most nights. gilear got it for her after grover passed cuz fig was too young to fully understand what had happened and she's held onto it ever since. she keeps a journal, mostly just for song lyrics and things, but she has a nice leather bound one that ayda gifted her that she mostly uses to write to ayda about what's been going on and thoughts she has for when she gets back. she wears a ton of different rotating jewelry but one that she always wears is a cheap gas station necklace she got somewhere in bastion city on the night yorb quest. it's dumb and turns her neck a little green but it reminds her of her friends

When you were two days away from the deadline, you entered the contest in Seattle. Or rather, Kristen did it for you. You are in a catatonic state. The more time passes, the worse you feel. You don't care about anything.

You haven't heard from Joel since he spewed all that nastiness at you, it's been a month since you found out that the always closed door next to Joel's bedroom was his daughter's, and despite the fact that you promised to talk to each other, he has once again excluded you from his life. He doesn't trust you, you said between tears to your friends who huddled around you as sisters would. They have not abandoned you. In fact, they have always supported and endured you. They gave you a reason not to really give up, not to give in to this horrible time and all the guilt you are beginning to feel because of Joel. As the weeks went by, this state of catatonia gave way to anger toward him, so many times you started to type his number and then delete it, so many times you started to text him and delete it within moments and not because you didn't want to hear from him, but because he has to be the one to contact you and apologize for his overreaction, for his silence and for keeping you out of his life once again despite how much you have experienced together. Kristen and Helen one day, you don't even know what day is or what month is, bring you a plane ticket waving it in front of your eyes. Departure is two days away, destination Seattle. You huff and puff and then turn over in bed, you have no will to leave, you want Joel, you want to yell your anger and bitterness at him. Anger gives way to sadness and despondency. You want Joel to talk to you, you want to hear his voice. You miss him. You cry. You feel drained, you feel so bad. You feel useless. A burden even to yourself. That morning with tears clouding your vision, you head to the airport. Kristen, Helen and Gina are there for you. They are there with you. They hug you. They give you lots of recommendations as if you were their younger sister headed to a faraway country and still needing guidance. You can't hide the fact that as you stood there at the boarding, you hoped until the last moment that you would see Joel. You hoped that he would run and stop you from leaving, that he would grab you by the wrist and take your face in his hands and beg you to stay, you hoped to the last that you would hear his voice and ask for forgiveness, but that did not happen. You turned one last time toward your friends, looked further for a pair of dark eyes and his face, the one that always reassured and comforted you, in the crowd, but he did not come. This time it's really over, he doesn't come, he doesn't stop you, he doesn't apologize, he doesn't take you in his arms, he doesn't tell you how much you mean to him, silence. This time it's over. There is no possibility of return. When you sit in the airplane, you think you were a fool to believe in love, the one that could make you feel strong, invincible, protected, love took you there to suffer alone on that plane to a known destination, but to an entirely unknown fate. Love, the kind with a happy ending, is only good for fairy tales, for romance novels, but life and love are two totally distant planets that follow different trajectories with different motions. Shy tears take flight down your cheeks, you quickly wipe them away and look out the window as the plane takes off. Down there, there's a good part of your life, your life as a waitress, as an assistant librarian, your life with your mother, your mother and her crazy beliefs, your life as a young woman who tried and tried again to live, to love and to be loved, the young woman who sought light in a life that had always kept her in darkness, your life as a young woman who played while trying to live, your life as a girl scared to meet a man like Joel, your life with Joel by your side. You close your eyes, it's all over. That part of you is gone.

There is you, this new version of you. A new broken version of you. A version that with time you must learn to harden so that you will never again suffer as you suffered for Joel. Will you forget him? Maybe. Maybe it will become a memory in some time, in some months, in some years. Or maybe you will never forget him and you will always remember him of how he made you feel good and bad at the same time and the emptiness he left you. Will you be able to forgive him? Yes, maybe. Someday. When all this becomes just a pale memory, when what you feel will become just a bittersweet memory.

In Seattle, you meet new people with very different ideologies than the ones you grew up with. There you are free to express yourself, and indeed all you do is encourage your creativity so that it can develop to its fullest. The contest is an experience first and foremost to improve and challenge yourself, to get out of that long comfort zone you have lived in all your life, but also to learn about other ways of writing and approaching writing. You don't win it, but there is someone who notices you: someone named Eugene, a publisher on the hunt for new talent, who offers to help you improve and who intends to make you a great writer. You thought from the start that he was just trying to rip you off and had something else in mind. You would never have believed his, conversely, good intentions. He directed and guided you time and again, and indeed, at times when you thought about giving up and going home, Eugene motivated and pushed you to keep writing. When you turn your computer back on, you find your draft of 'Bittersweet' on your desktop, you did not finish it and you did not enter the contest with this story, but with another one written a few years ago and which you had rescued from your mother's clutches. Your story is still at a positive moment, your protagonist perhaps does not deserve to suffer the same sad fate as you or perhaps you should write what you have experienced and what you are experiencing. Or maybe you could merge the two possible endings. For the moment, you write, write, write some more. Writing is your lifeline, the real reason to keep going. You just hope that everything you have suffered, your efforts and perseverance will lead somewhere. You don't want to believe that it was all for nothing. One day 'Bittersweet' sees the light to your utter joy and from there it changes your whole life, forever.

how is everyone else’s recovery going in the au where all of tbk got kidnapped and tortured in the court of stars to get adaine to be the oracle?

the general answer is "as well as it can, given The Horrors." barring fabian, everyone has supportive family or guardians and general contact with each other. it's slow, and it's unlikely that they'll ever really be who they were in full again, but they Will get better. that much i can promise--in the future of this au, things aren't the same, but they are better.

in a more specific sense, fig is re-teaching herself to play bass now that her fingers have been healed, but she still won't sing or speak. gorthalax and sandra lynn keep bringing her sheet music and blank notebooks of staff paper for if she wants to write again. she hasn't been back to hell in a bit, but she's started decorating her horns a little bit again.

kristen is terrified of the dark after being kept in it for about seven months. she struggles with dissociation after having her world so often reduced to empty darkness and can't stand the feeling of anything on her face. she won't pray or reach for cassandra in front of anyone but unlike fig she talks as much as she can. it helps keep her grounded

adaine is definitely the best off physically but struggling immensely with having to rely on the adults around her to take care of her friends after their safety hinging on her behavior. it's easy to check on the other girls, less so to check on the boys. this is not helped by the discovery of fabian's condition, but she spends a lot of time with aelwyn and jawbone and it helps.

gorgug hasn't gone into a rage since the seven maidens got them out of the tower, not after being conditioned to fear it even more than before freshman year. all four of his parents are steadily coaxing him out of his shell, though, and after many tears and nightmares finally managed to build a bed he can't break. his tusk can't regrow until the metal capping it is taken off, but he spends a lot of time cooking with wilma and digby and decorating picnic baskets for everyone.

it's my birthday and i am celebrating by writing adaine abernant having a full panic attack <3 truly love to see it here i think

For all that she enjoys the sounds of music, Adaine must say she's not as fond of it when it is reverberating around her, louder than her own heart beating in her chest and making her own limbs tremble underneath her alongside the roaring of the crowd. 

There's a reason she has yet to attend one of Fig's concerts in person; she loves listening to Fig play, she loves watching her best friend in her element, but her ears ache with the intensity of the bass and even as the people around her cheer and scream the names of two of her friends, she cannot help but feel sick in her stomach. 

Fig had gotten them all front row seats to this concert. Around her, Adaine can see Fabian with Riz on his shoulders cheering, can see Kristen sipping a drink and pumping a fist in the air, can see Zelda and the rest of the Seven off in the distance, and next to her, Ayda is watching the concert with full attention. Her friends are clearly enjoying themselves, which only makes Adaine feel worse about the way she's starting to sway with nausea. 

Pathetic. All the magic in the world and all the strength in healing her mental state and Adaine is still being rattled by fucking music. 

Adaine's hands are sweaty. Fig is singing and her voice is beautiful just as Adaine has always known it to be but the words don't register inside of Adaine's mind, drowned out by the reverberating roar of the amps and the ever-steady pounding of the drums. You should be better than this. Everyone else is enjoying this. You think anyone is going to like you if you can't even be at a concert without having a fucking panic attack? Pathetic.
