The Kim, Chu & Jeon Household
Note: Happy birthday to myself! It's not till the 28th but I'm going to be early for once. This isn't up to the usual standards but here it is anyway. Hope you enjoy.
It was hard to believe that Grace now had a two week old daughter. After nine months of pregnancy, a numbing amount of hours in labour and one extra day in hospital, Kim Bora had arrived.
Of course, her daughter did nothing other than sleep, eat and poop and cried plenty in between but she was here, safe and sound and growing at a fast rate. Bora remained unbothered by her new life - sometimes content to lay in her father’s arms and look around, watching everything with an intent gaze until she needed a nap. Sometimes she was wide awake, feeding like a hungry kitten and little fingers exploring.
Either way, she was beautiful.
It was becoming the norm now as they settled into life with a newborn. Grace and Seokjin took turns, sharing the duties even if it was late at night or very early in the morning. There was no routine to follow, the two just going with the flow of whatever rhythm their daughter was going with that day. They were fortunate enough, unlike most normal parents, to have the chance to step away from their careers and settle into life as parents without the worries of money and time.
The rest of Bangtan followed along. They took up the mantle with one member out for a year, the other adjusting to life as a new father. And they visited plenty ever since Grace had left the hospital, coming over when their schedules would allow and there was always someone nearby to run for supplies if needed.
Jungkook was a prime example of this.
He had essentially moved in.
One of the bedrooms had become his own now - clothes were in the closet, chunky shoes in the corner, a guitar or two on the walls, a mini fridge with his drinks of choice and a large enough TV that took over one wall.
And as much as Seokjin complained, Jungkook had been a massive help. He was a door down from their bedroom and normally the first one up and about whenever Bora cried and he was always the first one to perk up when he heard noises from the crib that was currently in their bedroom. It was cute to watch Jungkook turn into the big brother he was meant to become.
The big brother had just returned from a schedule at HYBE where they were planning their next comeback and had taken a shower, picked up Bora from her crib where she had taken a nap and woke up hungry and handed her over to Grace.
“Thanks,” Grace chuckled as she took her daughter and went to the living room.
“Hyung! Want help with dinner?” Jungkook asked, turning on his foot to head to the kitchen.
“When are you moving out?” was the usual response but Seokjin wanted Jungkook there as much as Grace did. They had become a little family the past two weeks.
There was the sound of squabbling in the kitchen, the sound of pots and pans being moved around from where they were stored and the sound of Jungkook chopping the vegetables on the counter while he told his big brother about the day at HYBE.
Grace glanced down to her daughter who was more than content to suckle, her eyes wide open while her fingers wrapped around one of Grace’s. “You’ve got a big appetite like your Dad,” she laughed and let her daughter have her dinner, her attention flitting between the TV and the noise from the kitchen.
It sounded like a regular family on a typical Seoul night.
The father and son are in the kitchen, with the mother and daughter on the couch. And while they were everything but blood, Grace had to admit that to the outside world, they were just a typical South Korean family at the best of times. In a way, Jungkook was always going to be their ‘son’ since the two of them with the help of the rest of BTS had taken Jungkook under their wing the moment he arrived in Seoul and had never let go.
Even if he was a man now, a successful military career behind him, a very successful solo career still in the palm of his hands and every bit the golden maknae still. To Seokjin and Grace, he would still be Jeon Jungkook of Busan rather than JK.
Once her daughter had finished eating and properly burped, the sound making Grace laugh, and dinner was being plated up, Grace settled Bora on the rocker that was in view of everyone as they settled down for dinner. Another ‘family tradition’ that started from the early days of BTS - there was to be a family meal together at the dining room table.
By the end of the night, the three of them were sprawled on the couch with Bora fast asleep on Jungkook’s chest who was just about awake and Grace leaning against Seokjin’s side who let out a large yawn.
“Is everyone awake?” he asked, reaching up to rub one of his eyes as the other one took a glance around the room.
“About,” Jungkook yawned back as his tattooed hand secured his sister and the other came up to ruffle his hair.
“Any schedules we need to worry about?” Grace asked, stretching out tired and still sore limbs from having given birth two weeks ago.
Seokjin let out a grunt as he opened his phone and tried to get his eyes to focus on the shared calendar between the eight of them and company but gave up completely and handed his phone to Grace.
“Wow hyung, definitely getting old,” Jungkook murmured with a grin. Seemed he still had the energy to tease his favourite member.
“No breakfast for you then,” was the reply which made Jungkook laugh under his breath, careful not to wake the sleeping baby.
“No schedule, but Namjoon has one in the evening,” Grace finally clarified. “So you know that will mean everyone will be over for lunch tomorrow.”
“More mouths to feed. Do they think we run a restaurant?” Seokjin groaned as he sat up, stretching. He walked over to where Jungkook lay and reached out to pick his daughter up.
“Nooo, not yet,” Jungkook pouted, knowing Seokjin was going to put Bora to bed.
“Yessss,” Seokjin replied as he grinned. “You need to go to bed, you’re dead on your feet. We all are. Come on, get moving,” he gently kicked Jungkook’s foot.
Off he went to put his daughter to sleep and to give himself a shower, which just left Jungkook and Grace to haul themselves off the couch and to bed. Jungkook sighed and knew if he was at home on his own, he’d be on LIVE with ARMY, three beers in and staying up till 6am but here, they kept on a proper scheduled pattern. Feed, drink, sleep and repeat.
“Come on noona,” Jungkook rolled onto his feet and wandered over, taking the hands that were already held out. “I can’t wait to have you back with us.”
“I can’t wait to be back either,” she sighed as she helped turn off the TV, lights and closed curtains but left the hallway light on for any nighttime wanders into the kitchen. “It’s nice having time off but god it is boring.”

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Father always said, "Great power comes when you attain control over your desires and cravings."
He used to say that to stop your cravings over sweets. His lesser knowledge didn't tell him, you were not of the type to gain such control. You could never gain this....this great power how much ever you wanted to.
Your reasoning was that you were simply curious but in actuality it was the deprevation that halted you. Deprived of sensation, deprived of freedom, deprived of being included, deprived of living, deprived of loving...
No one, in that city full of aristocratic, snob-heads found what some may describe as the utmost form of desire and craving.
Love; love is still hidden from the rich and noble, from the uptight and small-minded
You've always wanted to feel this so-called feeling of love. Was it just a myth made by someone with an oppressed mind like yours? Hopefully not. You didn't know what love was but it certainly wasn't what your father gave you, not what he gave your mother either.
"You must be the uisa's daughter." A slightly aged, wrinkly woman opened the sliding door to the tremulous, raw house you had just knocked upon. "Come on in, girl. My husband has been sick for the past 5 days."
Your father had work with the King so he sent your 19-year-old self on a teeth-chattering cold night to attend to one of his patients. He may not have been a good father but he was one of the greatest doctors to ever walk the streets of Hanseong.
Winds flurried across the empty farmlands in the surrounding making you rush inside the compact yet warm house.
Sacks full of what seemed like potatoes welcomed you by the doorstep followed by sacks of other vegetables. The stove was occupied by a pot of stew. The sick man and his family sold vegetables at the local market.
You realized that your father didn't want to attend to this patient because he was a Kim of the lowest caste, Cheonmin.
Your trail of sight landed upon a person, supposedly Mr. Kim, wrapped up in torn sheets. "Please take a look at him." His poor wife asked.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
"He seems to have caught cholera. It's nothing to worry about, he'll be fine in no time." You gave out your diagnose along with a few medicines from your bundle.
Mrs. Kim seemed to be panicking, "Oh dear, it seems I can't find my money." She smiled nervously. "Would it b-"
"Mother, I heard the doctor arrived." The door hastily slid open revealing a disheveled man.
It was him, the man who was going to change your life for good. The man whom you didn't know would be the reason for both of your ruination. He was nothing you'd seen before.
His forehead shiny with sweat, long hair, all messed up, probably because of him rushing over, yet he looked like the most beautiful man you had ever seen. Molded to perfection, his face was something you get framed.
His eyes were full of concern and disturbance. His lips were slightly parted and he stood there silently and your eyes met.
You could feel something between you two, as if you were two magnets attracting each other. You couldn't help but stare at him. He was so handsome that it took your breath away. You had to resist an urge to get up and reach out to him then and there, touch him and feel his skin under your fingertips.
"Taehyung, yes! Where were you?! Dear, did you take my money kept near the cupboard?" Mrs. Kim was infuriated at the man named Taehyung. "Please give the uisa 2 silver coins, I'll have a talk with you later." She scurried to him while you still stared at each other, his eyes boring holes into yours and face being almost excited to see you.
"I see, and what might be your name?" He asked you.
"Y/n." You replied, "As for the money, I don't mind providing free treatment. I basically did nothing-"
"I insist; that's all we can give you." The man standing at the doorstep walked over to where you were sitting on the ground.
"Oh, it's fine." You smiled despite the growing tension between the both of you.
Taehyung, the obscure man in front of me smiled and sat down to bow. "I promise I'll keep your favor in mind and help you." His formal words seemed unnecessary between the two of you.
"Thank you... Taehyung." He could easily say his ears were blessed.
He dropped you home that night. Awkward was the least proper word to describe you two. You couldn't help but talk naturally and freely to him. You both talked about how beautiful the night was before you arrived at your destination and you asked him to leave you a few houses before your own so as to not raise any suspicions from your family.
His moonlighten face looked mesmerizing as he looked down at you and smiled. "It was an honor meeting you, Kim Y/n." He bowed.
"Same here, Kim Taehyung." You took a step closer to him. "I hope to see you again." You wrapped your arms around his neck tightly for a quick second and let go. The urge to touch him had been running through you this entire night. Though you wanted more, this was more than enough for now. Luckily there wasn't a single soul around at this time of the night.
He stood speechless for some seconds, looking straight into your eyes, making you blush. It's not like a woman hadn't hugged him before, it was different with you for some reason.
You looked off into a different direction, "I-I know we have met just an hour ago. But I can't-" You were cut off by him encasing your waist with one of his arms. The other one held you gently by your chin.
"I know, this may be going too fast, but I fairly do not care." Saying this, his lips ghosted over yours, waiting for your permission. Not hesitant at all, you gladly accepted and closed the minute gap between your lips.
It was merely a few seconds before you two pulled away simultaneously.
"Thank you..." You whispered for some reason. It wasn't Taehyung's first time, but it was clearly the weirdest and the most memorable one.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
"Isn't that lovely? The vermins owe us a favor." He laughed as you trembled.
"Father, t-they were necessitous. I couldn't possibly ask them for mon-"
"And how would I pay for your expensive clothings, dear? For your food? For our servants?" He scoffed.
"Father..."
"No excuses!" He shouted making you flinch "You need a good whipping."
"I'm so sorry, father. It's just two silver coins." Your trembling knew no bound as you tried to back away from his resting place. You used your hands to drag yourself backwards away from your seat as he stood up with a mud tea cup in his hands.
A fairly loud crash was heard besides you and drops of hot liquid splattered across the floor as well as on you. It was his cup that he threw at you with anger.
"Just two silver coins? I see." His words held no anger, they were just words, heavy words. Words scaring you more than the cold, chilly night because you knew he could hurt you anytime.
"Father I promise, I'll do anything. Please, father." You joined your hands.
"Look at you, so desperate... I'll let you off with a warning this time. You're lucky today, no whipping for you." He spoke as if he didn't nearly kill you.
You thanked your stars, or whatever guardian angel you had for he was in a good mood.
"If you dare to disobey my rules again."
"I know..." You whispered loud enough for him to hear. Ofcourse you knew, this was not the first time.
He smiled like a saint and spread out his arms, "Now give your father a hug, honey. I love you."
Slowly and being disgusted in the sorry excuse of what's supposed to be a man, you hugged him. He was still your father. "I love you too."
He slimy hands gradually went to your head to pat you as you tried to stop your tears from falling. "You are to come with me tomorrow to King Jeon." You nodded.
You were usuals to the King's courtroom even when you were a kid. Your father was his closest advisor. However you never felt comfortable when the King wanted to meet you outside of public's eye.
Unnecessary touches, and even more unnecessary things he made you do. He insisted he loved your cooking, your treatments and meeting you in general. You were honoured indeed but felt repelled since it was a 50 year old man you were talking about.
What was this life you were living?
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
"And about Y/n..." You were snapped back to reality by the mention of your name. You were deep in your own thoughts, skimming your eyes over each title of the books held by the shelves. The shelves along with their inked treasures adored the quiet room. Quiet with the only exception being the voices of King Jeon and your father.
You thought about the poor farmer's son. Would he like to read, or rather, would he know how to read the Chinese scriptures? You had no idea why he clouded your mind like so, but you certainly weren't against it.
You had never had a love interest, you never found one brave enough to even talk to you. Giving up on love, you had always assumed you'd have an arranged marriage until the man you had kissed a few days ago came into your life.
"What about her?" Your pretentious father asked.
Both of you along with King Jeon were sitting in the castle's study talking about something that you didn't even bother sparing your attention to.
You preferred being in your own thoughts rather than listening to the elders' talks about the world. They surely knew more than you, and it wasn't bothersome.
"I expect a gift from you Y/n-ssi" King Jeon stated clearly.
"A g-gift? I don't understand."
Both of the older men laughed at your naivety and King Jeon placed a hand around your shoulder which distinctly made you uncomfortable.
"You weren't listening, were you?" He asked. "What were you thinking about girl?"
You thought of the only thing that interested you here, "The books here, in the study. I've never even heard about them." Books especially related to medicine interested you. You played the part of a cliché doctor in training.
"Jeon's birthday gift, dear."
"I expect a really special dish from you in a few months." He smirked, "Cook for me."
You had no idea what the smirk signified, but it clearly didn't mean good luck to you. You smiled nervously which the King found extremely endearing, extremely enchanting. Oh, how he wished he could kill your measly father and make you his personal concubine, maybe even his Queen.
The King's first wife died around 4 years ago and ever since then, the King couldn't have been happier. He could sleep with all the women he wanted without being pointed fingers at. The kingdom's people, who thought richly of the King, supposed he was drowning himself in other women to ease the pain of his loss.
What no one, except his Chief advisor, Eunuch Kang, didn't know was his eyes were set on a much bigger and harder-to-catch fish. The metaphoric fish being you. One fine day, before the time of his Queen's death, you along with your father had come to visit him. Seeing how well you had matured through the years, he couldn't keep his eyes or hands off of you. Making you sit on his lap was just an excuse to feel you better.
People in his courtroom saw and objected after you went back home. But those who did, found their heads laying on the floor. They committed treason, hence they died; was what he told their families.
Your father however never dared to speak up. He wanted to be in people's good books more than he cared for you. This helped you more than you could think. He had a good reputation and in return, the King could not kill him without a proper reason.
Ever since that day the King has secretly tried to find reasons to execute him. Eunuch Kang who was in charge of this failed to find any such reason for more than 5 straight years.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
"Ms Y/n!" Your cook called out to you. You were headed outside the mansion lands to a place only you knew about.
"Yes, Mr. Jung?" You smiled. You knew such formalities were only for others' eyes.
Jung Hoseok, a young yet talented cook, had been with you since you were born. He worked meticulously from his childhood.
Being around a decade older than you, he was given the responsibility to look after you as well as head the staff of Kim household. He was appointed by your father's friend, the King.
"Are you headed out?" He asked and you nodded cheekily.
"I'm going to that placeee."
He showed clear distaste towards your act of cuteness even though he possibly found it adorable. "Find yourself some use. Go and bring some vegetables for the kitchen. You are to cook for the king remember?"
"But I don't want to..." You pouted, "The King should have better cooks than me, I am no one compared to them."
"It's what the King decides, not you. Now go."
"Hoseok-ssi."
"What is it?"
"I don't like the King." His face contorted into a disappointed look. He looked around to make sure no one heard you and was glad no one did.
"Y/n, you are a grown woman, stop jesting around."
"I'm serious, Hoseok-ssi. The King seems far too friendly for my liking."
"Aish- Shut up, Y/n. I will not hear of it. King Jeon is a very kind man and he has saved us from many external and internal forces. I will not hear anything against him." He said, "Neither will anyone else, so make sure you don't tell this to anyone."
You nodded, poking your tongue out, still not changing your thinking about him. He turned around to leave after shaking his head.
"Hobi is mean." You muttered.
"I heard that, kid!"
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
"I'm not sure if I have anything special." The vegetable seller smiled nervously. "You can take back some eggplants for the special meal but I'm not sure where you might find them."
This was the first time you heard about them. Being an educated person, it hurt your ego and now you were determined to find them.
"It's alright, sir. I'll search for them." You smiled and headed deeper into the market. The crowd grew denser and the shops became more heavily loaded. Asking every vendor about these 'eggplants'.
"Take a right after about 20 steps, dear." An old female vendor advised. And you followed.
The shop was revealed to be of the Cheonmin Kim's, the one you had treated a few days ago. How will they, out of all people have such an advanced (it's new to her) vegetable?
You gulped, it was the son, Taehyung chewing away at some dried sea weed, and his healthy father talking to another seller nearby. Their shop looked as if it hadn't been visited by anyone all morning, the vegetables still fresh in their places, the man fooling around on his seat.
You slowly walked over, Taehyung still being oblivious to your presence until you cleared your throat. Before seeing who it was and stumbling to stand up straight, he almost looked uninterested. He dropped a few tomatoes by such shuffling.
He held a bright smile on his face and bowed almost hitting his head on the table full of produce. You followed suit giggling at his display of clumsiness.
Still bright as ever and still as handsome as the first day you saw him, he greeted, "H-Hello, how are you holding up, Ms. Kim?" He shook his head and corrected himself, "Sorry, Y/n."
"I am doing just fine, Taehyung-ssi." You turned your head towards his father, "I see your old man is doing good."
He nodded, "All thanks to you. I still have that favor to return."
It was unshrouded, the chemistry between you two was almost visible to the naked eye. Was it just an attraction that you had towards this perfect example of a man or was it something else? You'll admit it, it was the second time you barely met him, and you want more of him, so much more.
You both stared at each other for a good minute before you spoke, "I-uh- wanted some vegetables." You even forgot the name of the exquisite one, the seller had told you about.
"Sure, anything you want." He gestured his hands over the produce lying on the cart table.
"Eggplant I suppose?" You asked innocently. "I wanted an eggplant, a big one."
Taehyung was sure your virgin words didn't insinuate something else. He looked around his stall and said, "Y/n, I don't believe I have any eggplants here. We'll have to go back to my house to look for some. Would you mind?"
You didn't have any patients to look after today neither did anyone care where you went during the day, plus you get to spend time with Taehyung, you don't see a downside to this. So you agree.
As soon as you do, the cheerful man in front of you took your hand and lead you across the puzzled roads of the market.
"Taehyung-ssi! Don't hold my hand like that!" You exclaimed as he dragged you with him. The people looked at the young couple as if they might pop out fangs anytime.
"People are just looking, they won't do anything. Trust me." and you did for no apparent reason. You trusted him with everything you had. But a part of you called out and asked you how he knew all this, how he was so confident when he kissed you. Had he done this before?
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
"I thought your mother would be home." You enquired as you looked at the 25 year old trying to close the heavy wooden door after you asked him to. He barely had any neighbors but the ones he had, you didn't want them snooping around in your business.
"She's at the farm." He replied brightly. There was this thing about him, he looked so stern when he didn't talk to you but when he did, he was the most fun person you had ever seen.
As soon as he closed the door, he hugged you and you dropped your little bag of groceries at his actions. "I've missed you." Yes, you did too.
"Why?" You asked even though you knew better than anyone else. He had kissed you, an act hardly performed by actual lovers. There was no way to get him out of your mind after that.
If anyone knew you had did something of sorts you'd be ridiculed for your entire lifetime. But you didn't regret it at all.
"Maybe because I have never seen someone as beautiful as you." Softly touching your face like you were a raw sculpture, "And I think my mind is heading to a sinful place with you and there's no stop in sight."
You smiled softly, "We don't even know each other..."
"But you trust me right?" He whispered.
"Unfortunately, I do." Making you both laugh softly.
"Let me court you then." He said biting his lip, indicating his nervousness.
What was this man talking about? A woman of your status and a man of his caste shouldn't even mingle with each other, let alone do what you two did that night.
Your father, the public, the Emperor would all prefer you both dead over that happening.
However, Taehyung didn't care. He hated the caste system. 'Only the insecure and afraid would make such a thing up.' He often said.
You wanted Taehyung to love you, you wanted him to know how much you craved for someone, him to be precise, to come into your life and destroy you completely with their love.
You were thinking clearly when you said, "I would love that."
To say Taehyung was happy, would be an understatement. He wanted you; call it lust, call it desire, but it was a form of his love.
"Then you wouldn't mind if I did this..." He said before swiftly untying the front of your hanbok making you gasp and pull out of his embrace.
"What are you doing?" You scrambled trying to re-tie the knot.
"I thought you said you trust me." He smirked, pushing the outer layer of coat off of your shoulders before you could react.
"Taehyung!"
"You trust me right? Let me help you." His words struck you. Help you? How?
"Help me with what?" You stand still as he pulls you out of the coat and discards it onto the ground.
"I know what it's like being a 19 year old. Heck, I still know what it feels like. Being so alone, everyone hates you, you hate everyone. I know how you crave love. Let me give it to you."
How could he possibly know? "I don't wish for love." You state.
"Tsk, you can lie all you want, but I can see it written boldly in your eyes, those beautiful eyes."
You could say no and put a stop to his madness. But the look he gave you, that look that made you want to let loose and give in to his madness. He clearly wanted your body and this was his way of getting it, but how could you possibly deny it when you wanted the same at some point.
You gulped, "If I agree to whatever you're doing? Will you promise no one, not even your parents or your friends, find out?"
You weren't afraid of giving him anything, you were only afraid of what your father might do if he found out. He would beat you, whip you for sure but he would hire men to kill Taehyung.
"It's sex, so call it that, baby. And I am willing to promise the world to you if you just say yes."
"Taehyung, I don't care what happens to me, but I would rather be dead than have anything happen to you."
"Take risks, live a little uisa-nim."
You never took risks. When your father let you out of the house, you never lost your track, always going the way he asked you to go. You never dared to look at a man how much ever you wanted to.
Taehyung though, lured you in. He was a mere Cheonmin but yet he had more life than an upper class man. He had more potential, more everything.
At this moment, you couldn't help but agree. You would never do this if it were anyone else, but it was Taehyung, the man who kissed you on the first day you met.
"My body is what you want, and my body is what you shall get." You take a deep breath and pull him by his hanbok before he could reply and plant a kiss on his lips.
Taehyung wasn't the one to stop kissing your soft lips and correct you that he, in fact didn't wish for your body. He wished for your love, he wished that you craved him the same way he craved you.
You clearly had no experience nor had you ever seen how to kiss someone properly so you didn't move at all expecting this was all you needed to do to kiss.
This turned him on however. Having to teach you everything and molding you into whatever he pleased from a girl.
He pulled back, "That's not how you do it." He let out an arrogant chuckle. "Just go with your instincts and fight with my lips, devour them."
Saying that he placed his lips on yours once again this time meeting with a much warmer welcome from your mouth.
"You're a- fast learner-" He said between the kisses.
It was when he brought in his tongue, you were surprised. However you decided to fight with yours as well.
Your hands entangled into his long hair. He tapped your thigh and signalled you to jump. You trusted him and did as he asked and clinged onto him for dear life.
Oh, how you yearned for more. Conflicting your tongues wasn't enough, you needed his entire body.
Both of you were moaning, Taehyung's deep voice getting you wetter by the second.
Taehyung couldn't possibly get harder than how he was now. He tasted every last inch of your mouth while moving both of your intertwined selves to a room.
Breaking the kiss, he said, "Let me place a blanket here, it's going to get messy. Wouldn't want the floor to get all dirtied up by you." That made you blush more than any suitor ever had.
He gently let you down and arranged the blanket. Adjusting it's corners, he patted on it for you to lay.
"I'm scared." You finally said as he was removing his clothings.
Pausing slightly, he smiled, "You don't have to do this. I won't be upset."
"I'm scared but I want this. I want you."
"Are you sure about that, princess?" He pulled down his pants revealing a very hard dick, almost slapping onto his abdomen.
"Th-that's..." Big, was the right word for it.
Now, you were a doctor in training and you knew how sex worked and how certain body parts looked like. But you had never in your years of study seen or imagined a penis so big.
"Do you not like it?" He mocked wiggling it around a bit making you snicker.
"No, it's just- it's big..." He was almost estatic at your words.
Taehyung was completely naked at this point while you still had your undergarments on. He helped you remove the one surrounding your breasts.
Your boobs fell into his hands with a bounce. It was like he malfunctioned, staring at them for a quick minute before licking his lips and diving in.
You had never felt this before. Your fingers found their way into his hair once again.
"You're so fucking perfect." He said licking one of your nipples and softly biting onto it.
"T-Tae..." You practically shed tears at the feeling.
He moved between your neck and your breasts, kissing and marking up wherever he felt like it. It was a vice, you were a vice to him.
It felt so good, however you needed friction somewhere else as well.
You started rubbing your legs together and it didn't go unnoticed by him.
"Mmm, I know baby, you need me there?"
You replied with a shaky yes.
Leaving your boobs, his hand travelled downwards and into your lower undergarment.
As soon as his cold, long fingers pressed onto your clit, you let out a high pitched moan.
"Have you ever touched yourself?" He asked.
"I've tried it sometimes but never finished." You said weakly.
Taehyung was beyond the limit of hardness at the moment. He had no idea he would be so turned on by a girl so inexperienced. The things he would do to you in the future were boundless.
His hand worked on your clit while his mouth worked on your boobs. You were a moaning mess at this point. Taehyung gave you what you wanted and more.
He licked a long strip from your chest to your lips, kissing you with utmost passion. You were so addictive, all he wanted was to taste every single part of you.
He finally discarded your lower undergarment.
Dragging his fingers from your clit to your core, he slowly entered one finger. You let out a loud whimper.
"It's so tight, baby. How am I going to fit in there? I can't even fit my fingers." He showed fake concern.
You didn't even care at this point, you wanted him deeper in you.
He added another finger that stretched you out. Trying his best to loosen you up for his big dick, he started a scissoring motion with his fingers.
You tried your best to hold back your moans but his fingers felt so good, you're sure the neighbours heard you. He didn't care, it only added to his ego.
He shuffled down and dragged his lips along your body, down your clit all the way to your core. He wanted, needed to taste you so bad, he couldn't resist anymore.
He licked the slick dripping down your thighs because he didn't want any to go to waste.
He was extremely skillful with his tongue, delving expertly within your folds, bringing you near to the edge as soon as he begun. Holding your hips down, he continued.
"Tae, I think- I'm coming"
"Come on, you can do it." Taehyung could hardly believe he was the one to experience your first orgasm.
His hands reached up to twist and fondle your boobs.
Seeing his head of hair digging into your cunt for a taste had you coming in just seconds.
He licked every last drop of your wetness. When he finished, his head popped up with a smug look on his face.
"You have no idea how heavenly you taste." He said locking lips with you once again making you taste yourself. You did taste nice.
"I want to make you feel good too." You said.
"Not today" He said dragging his tip across your folds. "Today I wish to be directly inside you."
His little action made your cunt gush with juices.
"Are you scared, baby?"
"Yeah, but go ahead."
"This is going to hurt a lot. But you'll take it right? For me?" You nod as he leaned down and placed his lips on your forehead. A very intimate gesture that had you falling for him right in the moment.
Now you were very scared. Did you fall for a man you met a few days ago? Not to mention you're in a very vulnerable position with him as well.
Your innocent mind didn't know any better. What you thought was love, was just mere attraction at the moment which turned to love eventually.
"Tae- fuck" He pushed his tip inside.
"Are you okay?"
"Just go- slow" you squirmed.
He pulled out and pushed in once again this time going halfway in.
"It hurts..." You started sheding tears. Taehyung hated seeing you like this. Ofcourse he would have loved to see you cry, but from pleasure.
"We can sto-"
"You can go deeper now..."
He did as you said and bottomed out. Taehyung blamed his stupidly huge dick for making you cry.
He wiped your tears and placed his forehead against yours.
"You can tell me when to move, I'll be still until you tell me to."
It took you at least a minute or two to adjust and accommodate his length. The man on top of you aided by kissing you deeply through every second of it. You began to move the slightest bit on your own making Taehyung hiss.
"Shall I?" He was still patient, waiting for you to utter the words.
"Please, move." You let out.
Taehyung finally let go of the breath he didn't know he was retaining. He had to remind himself multiple times that he was your first, it pained you.
'Not yet.' He said to himself, referring to the fact that he couldn't fuck you as roughly as a pleased.
His thrusts were unhurried yet firm. So firm that it made your back arch at how deep his cock went.
You couldn't help but moan, in fact that was all you could do. Pleasure overtook your senses and you were at Taehyung's mercy.
He intertwined his fingers with yours on either side of your head, "So good for me, so tight."
"Faster!"
"Yeah? Want me to go faster? Such a little slut."
You were surprised at what you heard. You wanted to defend yourself, you were far from a slut and you were sure Taehyung knew that. Oh, but it turned you on so good. Him degrading you like that, him making you feel humiliated.
Taehyung must have sensed the effect it had on you, how could he not? You moaned the loudest when he said that.
"So wet, baby. I bet all the guys would love your little pussy, wouldn't they?"
"Want- only you." You somehow vocalised.
He loved it so much, the effect he had on you.
"Need to train you to become my personal sleeve, am I right?"
"Fuck, I can't-" You knew this feeling, you were coming.
He picked up the pace, hitting your sweet spot repeatedly. The scene itself was too explicit. Had anyone seen it, it would have been too entralling.
"Come on." He punctuated his words with his thrusts.
You let out a moan of his name and reached your high.
Taehyung's pace stuttered, an indication of him reaching his high as well. He realised, much to his dismay, he couldn't cum inside of you. He halted to pull out.
"No! You can let go inside of me."
"But, you'll-"
"I am a doctor in training, I have some herbs that can work." You smirked.
He chuckled, "Someone's being a little too smart."
He resumed his thrusts. After a few of them, he came. The feeling was really euphoric. Having the one you had feelings for, let his semen coat your insides.
He pulled out and laid beside you. Both of you faced each other; low on energy but high on love.
Taehyung lifted his hand up, tracing the apple of your cheek ever so slightly making you smile.
He spoke first, "That was..."
"I know, I don't have words for it either."
"Can I tell you something crazy?" He asked pulling you to lay on top of him.
"Ofcourse, what is it?"
"I think I am madly in love with you."
You looked into his eyes, slightly glossy from the overwhelming feelings he had for you.
"What do you mean?" You ask in almost a whisper.
"I know it's been just a few days, but I feel like I have known you for years. Like, your favourite colour is probably blue."
You giggle, "It's not, but go on."
"Then I want to know you better, Kim Y/N. What do you say?"
"Thank you for making me feel, Kim Taehyung." You bury your face into his chest. "This is the first time anyone has had feelings for me, let alone loved me. I never had feelings either, but you are something else."
You look up at him, "I think I'm in love with you too."
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
He had become your only beacon of hope. Your only little support while you were drowning. What happens when a human is given that? He clings onto it as fast as he can, as tightly as he can.
It had been 5 months since you first met Taehyung. 5 months full of exploring and adventures. It would be proper to say that you never would have guessed you got this close to someone.
You'd spend hours on end with him, until it was finally time to go home before the sunset.
You had introduced him to your special spot. A small, secluded clearing in a forest beside a lake. You had stumbled upon it when you were barely a teenager. No one except Hoseok and now Taehyung knew about it.
"What are you thinking about?" The man whose arms engulfed you asked.
Taehyung was leaning against a tree while you sat between his legs leaned against his chest.
"About the day when the Emperor was practically fuming when I said I couldn't prepare a dish for him on his birthday."
Taehyung twirled a strand of your hair with his index finger and laughed, "I wish I were there to see it."
"I hate him so, so much."
"Yeah, I hope to punch him in the face someday for what he did to you all these years."
"I love you..." You cozied yourself deeper into his arms.
"Love you too."
The talks from the noble and humble alike were spreading. No one fancied the way you, an unmarried aristocrat girl, spent time with a Cheonmin. Certainly, they couldn't see what you did behind closed doors, but you found yourself afraid of what they might do if they did.
Taehyung didn't care and asked you to do so as well. But how could you? When your father continued to beat the life out of you, even more so now that the talks flew around.
You couldn't mention it to your lover because it would have very obvious yet perilous consequences. So you had to feign that everything was alright.
That is why, whenever he asked you where you got a certain bruise from, you would reply with a simple, 'Oh, this? I fell.' or any other falsified answer you could think of.
Every day Taehyung walked you home, or sometimes even carried you just to the edge of the forest. And you were once again back to your oppressive household without anyone to share your sorrows with.
But this day was different. He walked with you till you were a few houses away from your own, you parted ways and you walked back alone to your house, or rather, you thought you'd be alone.
A voice came from behind you, "Good evening, young lady." You almost jumped at how close the man was to your ear and how you didn't hear him coming to this proximity.
The man in question looked much older than you, almost as old as Hoseok. This person was certainly here to bother you and you definitely weren't down for it.
You let out a nervous laughter, "Oh, good evening." And walked forward without sparing him a second glance.
"Don't be so rude now, I am here to speak with you." He caught up to your hurried pace.
"I am sorry but I don't suppose I would be of any use to you." A myriad of questions arose in your mind. Who was he? Was he here to have his way with you? You had heard from Taehyung, what men possibly thought of you; and it certainly wasn't pure.
"Ah, see that's where you are wrong." He said in a false vile tone, "You are very useful to me."
You turned around completely appalled, "That is no way to talk to someone, a lady in particular. I could be of use to you after you have spoken with my father."
"Who is the lady here? I see a girl, no, a kitten."
Not having much time to spare, as your father would quite literally kill you for being outside after dark, you said, "Sir, I am no kitten, but I am not one to argue with you. Good day." Saying this hopefully deterred him enough to not pursue you anymore.
And it did work, he didn't follow you after that, or rather, again, you thought he wouldn't follow you.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
"How was your day, father?" You asked setting his footwear aside and welcoming him.
"Well, the funniest thing happened today. A master brought in his slave for treatment." He laughed. Ofcourse, he wouldn't give his services to anyone lower than the nobles and the occasional palace workers.
Your mother reciprocated his laughter with her own, "You should have told your assistant to not let them in." The two of them joked further while the kitchen staff served them dinner. You sat down on the floor beside your father fidgeting and looking down at your fingers on your lap.
It annoyed you, like something that constantly pricked you deep within. It was the way not just your parents, but the majority of people spoke about the lower and less fortunate.
"Isn't it funny, my daughter? Why are you not laughing?" He asked. You had been over this before. You would ask him not to speak about the lower castes this way and in return he would starve you for the night.
"It's just that..."
"What is it?" He asked in a stern voice. "Speak up!"
"I-I don't like your words. I don't like the way you talk about them." You shut your eyes fully expecting a smack right across your face.
But it never came. Neither did your father's anger.
Instead he laughed.
"Is that so? My dear, do you know what that slave said to me?" He asked. You were stunned and confused to say anything.
"He said, 'You don't mind your daughter sleeping with that Kim boy, but you refuse to treat me?'"
You began to grow even more confused as you looked at the servants setting up another plate of food on a small table similar to yours and your parents'.
"You know Jeon called me to his palace today. He has heard the rumours as well."
A man with cold feline eyes and his forehead covered with his messy yet well-maintained bangs walked into the room. He held a scowl on his face as he sat down at the table in front of yours.
Your eyes widened. It was the same person who had bothered you earlier that day.
"Father, what's going on?" You asked partially getting up from your little table.
But your father simply completed his previous statement, "So, he sent his finest to keep an eye on you."
"What do you mean?"
"Meet Min Yoongi."

TWST: Hot Pot/K-BBQ
[Synopsis]: All eight dorms trying Hot Pot/K-BBQ.
[(A/N)]: The family and I went out for Hot Pot during New Year’s Eve in which this idea popped up because I don’t think anyone else thought of this.
[TW]: Some cursing in the HCs and food.
[Edit]: There would be some changes to the writing as I realized there’s some grammatical errors needing to be fixed.
HEARTSLABYUL
Riddle Rosehearts
A first-timer as the concepts of cooking for yourselves at a restaurant is completely foreign to him.
Still new to everything, he probably tried to count how long the food is supposed to cook and/or what to combine which sauces unless there’s a guide to mixing up the franchise’s signature dipping sauce.
Overall he’ll definitely enjoy the experience.
Unless a certain duo ruins the moment.
Trey Clover
Obviously the “unofficial chef” of the group.
Helps orders most of the food for everyone and the other members pitch in for what they want to try.
Has to remind everyone not to forget to eat their vegetables.
He may have more than one dipping sauce from the sauce bar.
Definitely has interesting combinations of food during Hot Pot/K-BBQ.
Cater Diamond
The one who recommended trying out Hot Pot/K-BBQ.
The type who would try out the viral trends involving these kind of eateries like the Meat Strip twirling trend. (Totally did not accidentally flung his strip somewhere at somebody’s face.)
If there’s Hot Pot, he’s ordering the spiciest broth; if there’s K-BBQ, he’s ordering the spiciest marinated meat. Either spicy Bulgolgi or Samgyeopsal.
He takes many pictures and records everything for MagiCam.
Ace Trappola
Most definitely orders more meat/seafood until Trey reminded him to eat his greens.
He would be impatient waiting for the food to be safe to consume.
Would definitely attempt to take one bite of a lettuce wrap. (He almost choked-)
He would fight against Deuce for the last piece of Kobe beef.
Deuce Spade
Would try anything if he likes it or not.
Definitely would order 계란찜 [Gyeran Jjim] [Korean steamed egg] as one of the side dishes.
Planning on taking his mother and grandmother out for Hot Pot/K-BBQ next time.
Would also fight against Ace for the last Kobe beef until Riddle scolded the two.
SAVANACLAW
Leona Kingscholar
We already know this motherfucker hates vegetables so he only orders from the meat section of the menu.
Probably goes to an high-end Hot Pot/K-BBQ restaurant.
Definitely has Ruggie in charge of cooking the food.
Doesn’t really order side dishes.
Ruggie Bucchi
Oh, he hit the jackpot.
He would order something expensive and new because the Savanaclaw Dorm Leader is paying for everything.
Put in charge by Leona to cook the food and also getting the dipping sauces.
If allowed, he’ll ask the waiter/waitress to pack some leftovers so they’re sent to his granny and the other kids back home.
Jack Howl
Actually enjoying the experience.
He’ll order assorted meat and vegetables moderately while also creating his own dipping sauce of his liking.
Waits patiently for the food to be ready to consume.
Would go again, but next time with the First Year gang.
OCTAVINELLE
Azul Ashengrotto
Absolutely coming up with new ideas for the Monstro Lounge while trying out Hot Pot/K-BBQ.
He’ll order whatever he thought would be a new idea as a upcoming concept for the menu back in his business.
If it’s Hot Pot, I can see him ordering a Miso-based broth.
He would absolutely strike up a deal with the restaurant’s owner if they can collaborate with their establishment and the Monstro Lounge.
Jade Leech
One word. Seafood. (Minus any conger eel.)
With Hot Pot, he’ll order some wood ear fungi (plus other assorted mushroom) and let me tell you, they tasted amazing while having a crunchy texture.
With K-BBQ, King Oyster mushrooms (or any available edible fungi) with everything. (Unless he somehow snuck his shrooms in.)
He has patience for the food to be ready to consume.
Floyd Leech
Orders mostly seafood, especially a ton of shrimp related items like Shrimp paste balls, prawns, etc.
Also waits impatiently for his food to be ready.
Has ordered some side dishes to munch on.
He would also try doing one bite of a lettuce wrap. (Not surprisingly, he didn’t choke.)
SCARABIA
Kalim al Asim
Absolutely having a great time trying an experience where you cook food in front of you.
He’s the one asking if the food is ready yet.
Kalim: Is it ready? How about now? What about now?
Has to be careful not to burn himself as he’s basically cooking up close.
Very generous to paying for everything. (Staff members having a pay day.)
Jamil Viper
We already know he’s the “chef” during the experience.
He also has to taste-test the food if there’s no poison or anything lethal to harm Kalim.
Has the best dipping sauce out of everyone in the HCs.
He probably added his own spices in his broth/the meat during K-BBQ.
POMEFIORE
Vil Schöenheit
Last time he went out in public to a Hot Pot/K-BBQ, all franchises of the name were packed with his fans.
Most likely went to a high-end Hot Pot/K-BBQ restaurant like Leona.
He’ll order an herbal-based/a vegetarian broth and more on vegetables than meat.
He would shower three times as this is a downside for this type of meal, every time after you have Hot Pot/K-BBQ, you would reek of smoky barbecue and strong broth smells.
Rook Hunt
He would voluntarily be the “chef” for Vil.
Would likely to ordered something like coagulated pigs blood. (Why? Probably because it reminds him of his favorite food, Liver pâté.) [(A/N): Also don’t be weirded out from this HC because that’s what I grew up eating with whenever I have hot pot.]
He would praise everything. The food, the atmosphere, the service, and the staff members.
He also needs to shower three times because if he decides to roam around doing his “hobby”, it’s better to not let anyone know where he’s hiding.
Epel Felmier
This country boy is having a great time of his life.
Meat is his favorite so he orders a lot of it, but got scolded by Vil to not forget his veggies.
Like Ace and Floyd, he tried to one shot a whole lettuce wrap. (He barely swallowed.)
He tries to not shower as he doesn’t smell anything, but everyone else can so off to the showers he goes. No protests with Vil.
IGNIHYDE
Idia Shroud
We already know this guy is extremely anxious of going outside without the sanctuary of his room, so he used the equivalent of DoorDash to order Hot Pot/K-BBQ.
He’s picky to some of the food, but gets scolded by Ortho for that.
Would have an effective built-in ventilation system to get rid of lingering smells.
Would order again for a Pre-game meal.
Ortho Shroud
He’s just analyzing the food like from the Culinary Event.
Searches interesting facts about Hot Pot and K-BBQ.
Would find recommendations of different franchises.
Scolds his Nii-san for not getting a balanced meal.
DIASOMNIA
Malleus Draconia
Never had Hot Pot/K-BBQ before because…you know. Uninvited and stuff like that.
Had found out from the other Dorm Leaders during their usual meetings and chatted about their times while dining with their dorm mates.
Now he wants to join and luckily found a decent restaurant to try out with the others.
If there is an ice cream bar at the restaurant, he’s down for it.
Lilia Vanrouge
Oh my god, this old fae would have a blast.
You can imagine he’ll order the most oddest choices from the menus. (Like Coagulated pigs blood, pig brains, Gopchang, chicken hearts, etc.) [(A/N): I need to clarify that not all Hot Pot/K-BBQ places have these items I named off of and as a reminder, most of everything I mentioned is what I grew up eating. It’s part of my culture.]
He would have the most smelliest broth for Hot Pot.
Afterwards, he’ll pack some leftovers and would use them for his cooking.
Lilia: Leftovers for the next few days!
Malleus, Silver, & Sebek: *Sweating bullets*
Silver
This sleepy prince would fall asleep while waiting for the food be cooked.
Would order something for his own, even though Lilia insisted on ordering some items. (You already know what bat daddy will get.)
If there’s Hot Pot, I see him getting a something simple like mushroom broth. (Which is an option at a restaurant I went to with the fam.)
I can totally see him having a food coma after the meal.
Sebek Zigvolt
He would try Hot Pot/K-BBQ because Waka-sama also wants to try out the experience. (Fucking simp follower.)
Definitely orders salmon as a start.
Tries to stomach what Lilia offers from his plate.
Needs to shower afterwards if he doesn’t want to reek of barbecue/hot broth during his knightly duties.
Ramshackle ft. Miyeon Choi
MC/Yuu/[Y/N]
Definitely getting their money’s worth because after all they deserve a feast from going through a ton of messed-up shit. (i.e. Overblot cases, NRC students being assholes, etc.)
Also Miyeon is treating them because variants needs to treat each other/themselves.
Just enjoying their meal from assorted meat to seafood to vegetables to interesting fish cakes. (Almost the whole necessary food groups.)
Miyeon would show them some tips and hacks when doing K-BBQ.
Grim
He was mistaken as a wild animal before entering the restaurant.
After the misunderstanding was cleared up, he’s going to gorge himself with so much food.
Also goes crazy with creating his own sauces but MC/Yuu has to stop him from creating a mess at the sauce bar.
He needs to take a bath because the smell got into his fur. (Smelly feline bastard.)

🍩 Sweet Heat 🍩
•Pairing: Firefighter Bucky Barnes/OFC
•Rating: General Audience
•Tags: Firefighter AU, Firemen Bucky, Curvy/Tall/Tattooed OFC, Firefighter Avengers, Flirting, Meet-Cute, Cat Rescue, Humor, Everyone Picks On Bucky
•Summary:
Fireman Bucky Barnes discovers the delicious doughnuts of Chubby Dough while at the local Farmers Market, and he is instantly smitten. When he meets Aria, the quirky doughnut goddess herself, sparks fly between them. However, fate intervenes when Bucky is called away on duty, missing the chance to get her number. Weeks later, fate as their paths cross again when Bucky receives a call about a cat stuck in a tree, which turns out to be Aria's.
The sky is a stretched canvas of endless blue, wisps of white clouds scattered like strokes of a painter’s brush sailing on a gentle breeze, casting fleeting shadows on the ground below. The air is filled with a warmth that wraps around everything, holding the promise of long, lazy days of adventures. It was a warm July Saturday in Pikesville, Indiana. Which only meant one thing… Farmer’s Markets.
The bustling energy made the air feel alive as the aroma of freshly picked fruits, fragrant herbs, and other seasonal produce mingled together—stalls overflowed with various colorful fruits and vegetables, showcasing the best summer harvest. Juicy, sweet watermelons, succulent peaches, and plump berries beckoned with their sweet smells and vibrant colors. Heirloom tomatoes, vibrant yellow, red, and green peppers, sweet candy onions, just-picked green beans, zucchini, and crisp cucumbers this morning. The local farmers proudly offered the fruits of their labor in their wide-brimmed hats and sun-kissed smiles. Baskets of sunflowers and bouquets of herbs add a rustic charm to the scene, and tables are filled with jars of freshly made jams and jellies. The air was filled with the enticing aroma of freshly baked bread, flaky pastries, and aromatic coffee contributions from the local artisans and bakers—stalls filled with handcrafted jewelry and pottery, offering unique treasures to discover. With booths from local organizations, the library is offering a free book per child, along with the local Police, Fire Department, and other various organizations. Conversation buzzed in the air as customers engaged with farmers and vendors alike.
Children scampered between aisles, clutching dripping ice cream cones, while families gathered around shaded picnic tables, enjoying farm-to-table meals prepared right there with nothing but the freshest ingredients by local food trucks. There was a wide variety of cuisine, such as a taco truck that specialized in authentic Mexican food, serving up mouth-watering tacos from traditional carne asada to vegetarian options—a burger truck offered everything from the classic cheeseburger to gourmet with a range of toppings. A BBQ truck known for its smokey and tender means, slow-cooked ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, brisket, and more. A pizza truck offers wood-fired oven pizzas on wheels, passing out freshly made slices or whole pies with a wide range of toppings. An Asian fusion truck is blending flavors and techniques from various Asian cuisines, serving up Korean tacos, Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches, and Thai-inspired noodle bowls. A seafood truck offers a taste of the ocean in the form of fish tacos, lobster rolls, shrimp po’boys, and other seafood delicacies. Several dessert trucks specializing in tasty ice creams, decadent pastries, cupcakes, cookies, and doughnuts of every flavor were waiting to offer up sweet treats to round off the savory meals consumed. Local musicians strummed guitars and played lively tunes, infusing the market with a cheerful melody. Under the warm sun, the farmer’s market buzzed as a hub of the community, where neighbors greeted each other with smiles and shared stories. It was a place where the spirit of summer thrived—a place to savor the flavors of summer.
"Thank you for your support," Sam said with a smile as a group of giggling teenagers hurried away with copies of the Pikesville Fire Department yearly calendar.
The local Fire Department had chosen the Pikesville Animal Welfare as the non-profit organization to support through their calendar fundraisers this year.
"That's another one for me," Sam declared, walking over and placing a crumpled twenty-dollar bill into the cash box. "How many have you sold, Barnes?" he asked Bucky.
Bucky rolled his eyes but checked the unofficial tally sheet. "Uh, thirty-two," he replied.
"Thirty-four," Sam countered, a smug smirk on his face.
"Come on, guys," Steve interjected, stepping between them.
"He's just jealous," Sam said, slipping his thumbs between his navy PFD t-shirt and the red suspenders from his turnout pants.
Bucky scoffed, "As if," he retorted, crossing his muscular arms over his chest. "I think the heat is getting to your brain; you do remember the signs of heat stroke, right, Wilson?"
"Guys," Steve warned, trying to diffuse the tension.
Just then, Natasha reappeared like a redheaded angel, holding a bright pink pastry box. She gracefully made her way around the two tables covered in red tablecloths adorned with a Pikesville Fire Department banner. The tables were stacked with calendars, each featuring a member of the PFD for every month alongside an adorable shelter animal. In addition to the calendars, a poster board was prominently displayed, showcasing pictures of the shelter animals and their names and information. The board served as a visual representation, capturing the attention and hearts of passersby. Each photograph conveyed the unique personality and charm of the animals, inviting potential adopters to learn more about them. The information provided on the board offered insights into their age, breed, and endearing traits, further encouraging visitors to consider opening their homes and hearts to these furry companions.
"Alright, boys, I have doughnuts," Tasha sang happily, her voice brimming with delight. With a cheerful demeanor, she carefully placed the box of doughnuts on the table, elegantly flipping back the lid, and stepped away, creating an alluring display of sweet treats for everyone to enjoy. "Thor, Scott, Clint, come on over. I've got doughnuts!" Tasha called out to the other members of their squad, who were gathered by the fire engine.
"Oooh, yes!" Scott exclaimed, jogging over and energetically shaking his shoulders as he rubbed his hands together in anticipation.
Clint followed suit while Thor was preoccupied with allowing a young boy to try on his helmet, drawing the attention of the boy's mother, who couldn't help but check out the tall blonde firefighter.
The aroma of freshly baked doughnuts wafted through the air. The sight of the various flavors and toppings tantalized their taste buds, drawing the guys closer to the table to choose their favorite doughnuts.
Bucky swiftly snatched a doughnut with a thick brown glaze, chopped pecans, and a drizzle of chocolate. He settled back in his chair, taking a large bite.
"Holy shit," he mumbled around his mouthful, the doughnut tasting like a decadent caramel turtle.
Sounds of approval and satisfied hums echoed throughout their tent.
“Hey Tash, where’d you get these?” Scott asked, stuffing half a doughnut into his mouth.
Steve hummed, “These are the best doughnuts I’ve ever had,” he commented, taking a much smaller bite than the man next to him.
“Chubby Dough Doughnuts,” Tasha answered, ripping a piece of the sticky fried dough. “These two girls run the truck; Yelena kept going on and on about them,” she adds before plopping the piece in her mouth.
The tent was silent as everyone chowed down, but that didn’t last long. Barton just had to open his trap.
"So, who's winning so far?" Clint asked, jelly smudges adorning his mouth.
Steve groaned, "God damn it, Clint."
"I'm glad you asked, Barton," Sam said with a smile, taking another bite of his doughnut. "It's me," he proclaimed, his voice slightly muffled by the fullness of his mouth.
"Oh man, that's gonna suck cleaning all the engines alone, Buck," Scott remarked, licking some whipped filling off the side of his hand.
Bucky grunted, unamused. "There's still plenty of time for me to wipe the floor with Sam," he retorted.
Tasha produced a napkin for Clint, who sheepishly accepted it. "No manners, the lot of you," she shook her head, playfully scolding them.
"Ha!" Sam laughed sarcastically, his tone laced with playful annoyance.
"Alright, guys, come on, do we have to do this every year?" Steve asked, looking between Bucky and Sam.
"Yes," they both answered in unison, a mischievous glint in their eyes.
Steve sighed, his exasperation evident as he dragged a hand down his face.
Fortunately, another wave of people approached the booth. Several women and a few men purchased calendars, dropping a few dollars into the jar in front of the poster board. Some of the customers requested the squad to sign their pictures, a request that the firefighters gladly obliged. With smiles on their faces, they interacted with members of the community.
A beautiful woman with raven hair approached the table, her gaze fixed on the post board displaying various animals. She reached out and picked up a calendar, flipping through its pages.
“Those animals are all just a few tents down if you’re interested in adopting any of them,” Bucky said, sauntering over to the woman with a flirtatious smirk.
She raised an eyebrow, a hint of mischief in her eyes. “Are any of the firefighters available?” Her gaze traveled up and down Bucky’s form, and she teasingly licked her lips.
"They might be. Which month caught your eye?" he asked.
The woman pondered, twisting her lips in thought. "Well, Mister July has that All-American apple pie vibe," she remarked, stealing a glance at Steve. He was engaged in conversation with an older woman, her curly white hair framing her face. It was evident that she had taken a liking to him, her hand gently resting on his forearm and a blush coloring his cheeks.
"Is that so?" Bucky asked, his voice still carrying a flirty and playful tone.
The woman stepped closer, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "But you know, Mister October has this tall, dark, and dangerous feel to him. He's the kind of guy I'd love to bring home to meet my parents, just to see their disapproval," she admitted, biting her bottom lip playfully.
Bucky winced, realizing his reaction had been more noticeable than intended. He quickly cleared his throat. "Well, we genuinely appreciate your contributions. All proceeds will go to the Animal Shelter to provide them with new equipment, enabling them to help the animals better," he explained.
The woman's eyes widened, then narrowed as she abruptly pulled a twenty-dollar bill from her wallet and slapped it onto Bucky's chest before walking away.
A low whistle caught Bucky's attention, and he turned to see Sam approaching him.
"You alright, Buck?" Sam asked, concern evident in his gaze.
Bucky frowned, turning on his heels and starting to walk around the table. "Yeah, I'm fine," he replied, his tone slightly curt.
"You don't look it, man," Sam pointed out, walking alongside Bucky.
Bucky let out a sigh. "It's always the same with every woman," he muttered, crossing his arms. His navy PFD t-shirt stretched across his chest, highlighting his muscular physique. "They look at me and automatically assume... well, they think I'm some sort of—"
"Fuckboy?" Sam interjected, raising an eyebrow.
Bucky's frown deepened. "Sure, let's go with that," he said, rolling his eyes in mild exasperation.
"Listen, man," Sam sighed, his voice filled with genuine concern. "You're a good guy, Barnes. You've got a good heart, you're smart and funny, and hell, you're easy on the eyes," he chuckled softly. "You'll find the one, somebody who sees beyond the surface." Sam reached out, giving Bucky's shoulder a reassuring squeeze.
"Thanks, Sam," Bucky replied, mustering a grateful but slightly weary smile.
Sam nodded. "No problem, man. You good?" he asked, looking for confirmation.
"Yeah, I'm good," Bucky confirmed, appreciating the support.
Sam began to walk away.
"Hey, Wilson, let's try not to go through this again, alright?" Bucky called out, slumping down into a chair. "Kinda made me feel dirty."
"Oh, fuck you, man," Sam chuckled teasingly before leaving the tent. "I'm still gonna kick your ass," Sam tossed over his shoulder with a playful grin.
Bucky chuckled and shouted, "Only in your dreams, Wilson!"
Eventually, the competition between Sam and Bucky faded into the background, but it resurfaced when Thor finally made his way over to the group.
"How goes the competition, Barnes?" Thor inquired, grabbing a doughnut from the box. "Are you kicking Wilson's ass?"
Thor's words caused Steve to almost whine in exasperation, feeling like he wanted to repeatedly bash his head against a hard surface.
"Ha! I'm at... forty-eight," Sam declared confidently.
Bucky grinned. "Fifty-two," he countered, a playful spark in his eyes.
"Ain't no way," Sam crossed his arms, showcasing his bulging biceps.
Scott leaned forward, inspecting the tally sheet. "Yeah, Barnes is right," he confirmed, his tone revealing the truth of Bucky's higher count.
The friendly rivalry between Sam and Bucky was reignited.
"Alright, knock it off, guys," Tasha interjected, her voice carrying a note of authority from her perch on the table. "You're both hot, we get it, but you're going to give our Captain an aneurysm," she playfully scolded, gesturing toward Steve.
The squad chuckled, understanding that the good-natured teasing had its limits. With a collective nod, the firefighters refocused their attention on interacting with the customers, signing calendars, and polishing off the last of the doughnuts Natasha had brought.
Taking a much-needed break from running their booth, Bucky felt a sense of relief mingled with excitement at the prospect of indulging in some delicious treats and moseying about the other stalls and booths with Steve. While he enjoyed managing their booth, he knew that a short break would do him some good. The delightful aromas from the food trucks wafted through the air, luring them closer with each step.
Steve turned to Bucky, inquiring about his lunch preference, "What are you in the mood for?"
With a smile, the brunette replied, "That BBQ smells amazing."
Steve enthusiastically agreed, "Sounds good to me, as long as we make a stop at that doughnut truck before we head back Thor said they have blueberry streusel doughnuts."
Bucky chuckled, appreciating their love for food, “I knew you were my best friend for a reason.”
“I hope that’s not the only reason,” Steve chuckled, elbowing Bucky playfully.
Fifteen short minutes later, Bucky and Steve were happily munching on a little dish of crispy golden brown tater tots topped with sweet, smokey, and tangy pulled pork drenched in BBQ sauce, a drizzle of nacho cheese, thin slices of red onion, chopped green onions, and jalapeno slices from the BBQ food truck. As they strolled through the bustling stalls, they enjoyed their lunch and chatted with old high school friends and other folks from the community. They leisurely made their way around the market, pausing at tables filled with tempting goods.
"Oh man," Steve sighed contentedly as he tossed his little paper dish into the trash. "That was delicious," he said, stretching his arms above his head.
Bucky nodded in agreement, quickly finishing his last bite before following Steve's lead and disposing of his paper dish in the trash.
"Man, I'm so full," Bucky groaned, patting his belly as he walked alongside Steve, the band playing a cover of some Charlie Daniels song.
"Too stuffed for doughnuts?" Steve quipped, raising an eyebrow.
Bucky gave him an exaggerated hurt expression, shaking his head, “And here I thought we were friends—"
“—Best friends," Steve corrected with a grin.
" Right, right, best friends,” Bucky amended, “I'm utterly appalled you'd ever think I'm a quitter," he retorted, pretending to be outraged.
Steve couldn’t help but laugh at his friend’s expression as they joined the line at Cubby Dough Doughnuts.
"Oh, my bad, I forgot Mama Barnes didn't raise a quitter,” Steve teased, playfully nudging Bucky’s arm with his elbow.
“Damn straight; now, let’s if the beautiful doughnut goddesses can entice me into taking just on—”
Bucky’s words faded away as he got entranced by the captivating woman with a dark, messy bun, a neon green sticking out the side, her smokey eye makeup, and mesmerizing hazel blue eyes—a mix of brown, green, and blue that looked like a cosmic swirl framed in with dark thick-rimmed glasses, cute little button nose, her lip was a sight to behold with the most alluring shade of pink he had ever seen, a natural cupid’s bow—a perfectly formed curve that gave her smile this irresistible charm. She had on a black t-shirt, hot pink frosting, and bright pink letters with sprinkles, proudly stating Donut Squad, and when she turned around, he noticed the back of her shirt was the name Chubb Dough. Her smile was dazzling; he watched as she tucked a whisp of hair behind her ear, the many colorful bracelets around her wrist catching the light. Bucky was intrigued.
“Buck?” Steve said, trying to contain his laughter as he lightly chuckled, attempting to get his friend’s attention.
Still entranced by the doughnut goddess, Bucky turned to Steve with a dreamy look in his eyes. “I think I might be in doughnut heaven,” Bucky mumbled to Steve.
"Holy smokes, dude," Darcy groaned, leaning her head against the compact refrigerator. "They just keep coming and coming," she mumbled, opening the door to grab a water bottle.
Aria chuckled, "Isn’t that the point?" she asked, taking another tray of doughnuts from the warmer.
"I mean, I guess; I don't know why I let you talk me into this hair-brain scheme of yours," Darcy said, taking a long drink from the bottle.
"Ha! Because really, I had to twist your arm," Aria replied dryly, carrying the tray to the work table. "You know you secretly love this doughnut-making adventure!" she teased, rolling her eyes playfully.
Darcy couldn't resist teasing her friend further. She reached over and pinched Aria's cheek, playfully saying in a baby voice, "It's so hard to say no to this cute little face," while patting Aria's cheek.
Aria playfully batted Darcy's hand away, giving her a mock glare. "Yeah, yeah, very funny," she said, trying to suppress a smile.
The dinging of a bell echoed throughout the small food truck.
"Ah, they summon me," Darcy sighed, finishing off her bottle of water. "The public awaits," she announced with a playful flourish, crushing the bottle and making her way back to the front window, ready to serve the hungry customers.
Aria playfully rolled her eyes at Darcy's dramatic announcement. She then grabbed an icing bag filled with delicious cheesecake icing, adjusting her hold on the small bag. Starting at one end of the tray, she skillfully gave each golden brown, perfectly cooked doughnut a delightful drizzle of creamy and tangy icing, followed by their rich caramel sauce and decadent chocolate ganache to the doughnuts, making sure each one was beautifully coated. She artfully sprinkled chopped pecans across the top as a finishing touch, completing the mouthwatering treat—the enticing aroma of freshly made doughnuts filled the air, enticing the eagerly waiting customers.
Cubby Dough had humble beginnings as a tiny pop-up camper that Aria and Darcy purchased from a questionable gentleman on Craigslist. They embarked on the ambitious project of gutting and remodeling the entire camper themselves, and it was no easy task. They spent countless late nights watching YouTube videos, trying to figure out how to connect the plumbing and make everything work. Thankfully, Aria's Dad came to the rescue, offering his years of experience and a helping hand with his tools. With their determination and his guidance, within six months, Chubby Dough was finally transformed into a mobile doughnut haven. That was four years ago, and since then, the little food truck has been delighting customers with its delectable treats all over the southern part of the state.
Today the food truck is built on a 22ft trailer with black sheet metal sides and roof, giving it a modern and sleek appearance. The silver servicing window is not only functional but also adds a contrasting element to the black and wooden features; it can be easily closed and locked for security when the food truck is not in operation; outside the window is a practical butcher block counter bar on the outside, where customers are greeted. The wooden trim around the windows adds a touch of warmth and rustic charm to the overall look. Inside is a compacted modern kitchen, a double fryer, a large proofer, a warmer, and all the necessities one needs to operate a food truck; a large butcher block workspace and prep tables provide ample space for food preparation and serving. The crowning glory is the light-up sign that proudly displays the truck's name, "Chubby Dough," drawing attention and helping customers easily recognize and locate the food truck.
As the morning rush settled down, Aria and Darcy decided to switch spots; Darcy had reached her limit dealing with customers at the front.
"I'm just not built to deal with people," Darcy grumbled, washing her hands in the sink.
Aria couldn't help but laugh. "You're in the wrong business, my dude," she teased, finding humor in her friend's confession.
Darcy chuckled at Aria's playful response and played along, giving Aria an exaggeratedly sad expression. "Oh, I know, right?” she said dramatically. “It's a never-ending doughnut-filled nightmare," she joked, pretending to be overwhelmed.
Aria gave her a mock sympathetic look. "Oh, poor Darcy," she said, trying to hold back a laugh. "It must be so tough," she added before bursting into laughter.
As the pace picked up once more, doughnuts were flying out of the window as fast as Aria and Darcy could make them. They were in sync, their teamwork seamless as they worked together to keep up with the demand. It was a flurry of dough, icing, and toppings, all coming together in perfect harmony. The little food truck was once again buzzing with excitement, and the smiles on their customers' faces made all the hard work worthwhile.
Aria quickly excused herself, saying, "Give me just a second," as she grabbed a fresh notepad and reached for the green pen that was stuck in her messy bun. She spoke as she turned back around; she looked up to take the next-in-line orders. “Chub…Chubby Do—” she said, stumbling over her words.
One of the men was tall, sporting short blonde hair and baby blue eyes with a subtle hint of green around the iris. He had a solid and muscular build, dressed in a navy PFD shirt that emphasized his strength.
The other man was just an inch shorter than the blonde, with curly brown hair on top and tapered sides. His mesmerizing blue eyes resembled a stormy summer evening, bringing back memories of the scent of rain-soaked earth. His handsome face was adorned with a cleft chin and a set of the prettiest pink lips. Like his companion, he also wore a navy PFD shirt that barely contained his well-defined and impressive muscles.
Aria was taken aback, almost losing her balance in the process. She managed to offer a slightly awkward smile. "Welcome to Chubby Dough... Uh, what can I get you, gentlemen?" She quickly corrected herself as she almost knotted her pen in her hair.
The tall blonde man smiled warmly, his baby blue eyes twinkling with amusement. "You were close," he said with a gentle chuckle. "I'll have two of your blueberry streusel doughnuts, please."
The man with the captivating stormy blue eyes flashed a playful grin, making Aria’s heart flutter. As he glanced at the menu, he asked in a smooth and inviting voice, “What’s your favorite?”
Aria’s nerves got the best of her, and she pointed to herself, feeling like more of an awkward mess than she already was. “M-mine?” she stammered, blushing under his gaze. The man nodded, his smile still warm and encouraging. “Oh, uh, Jesus,” she muttered, nervously licking her lips as she pushed up her glasses.
He raised a curious eyebrow, intrigued by her reaction, then looked at the menu again. “I’ll take one of those,” he said, pointing to her favorite doughnut, “and a maple bacon, please.”
Aria nodded, trying her best not to make a fool out of herself further. "Sure thing! Two blueberry streusel, one Jesus, and one maple bacon coming right up," she replied, writing down their order on the notepad, trying to hide her flustered state while secretly thrilled that he had chosen her recommendation.
As she turned to start preparing their doughnuts, Darcy peeked over her shoulder, curious about the sudden change in her friend's demeanor. Aria couldn't help but blush slightly, secretly hoping she looked presentable despite the messy bun and lime green pin.
"Hey, who are these fine-looking specimens?" Darcy whispered teasingly, earning a playful nudge from Aria.
"Just focus on your doughnut-making, will you?" Aria whispered back, glancing over her shoulder at the two men chatting outside the truck.
“You’re no fun,” Darcy grumbled, heading back toward the fryer.
Darcy's pouty face made Aria chuckle as she continued working on the doughnuts. Every morning hours before an event, Aria and Darcy would head out early, starting on their batter for the day; they would start frying until the first customer arrived. By then, the warmers were filled with tray after tray of freshly fried doughnuts, each doughnut that left through Chubby Dough's window was freshly made to order, it was a bit time-consuming, but it was worth the short wait.
Aria started with two plain golden-brown doughnuts, dipping each in a thin white glaze. She added their homemade blueberry compote and topped them with a delightful streusel. Moving on, she took two more doughnuts and dipped one in a thick maple glaze, generously adding chunks of maple bacon. The other doughnut was lightly coated in a thin glaze before being tossed in cinnamon sugar, its top dipped into a vanilla frosting and topped with a drizzle of thick gooey caramel.
As Darcy assembled a box for the four heavenly treats, she playfully pointed out, "You know that guy keeps looking in here at you."
Curious, Aria glanced over her shoulder to see the brunette with stormy blue eyes giving her a wide, flirtatious smile. A hint of a blush crept up her cheeks, but she tried to maintain her composure while finishing the doughnut orders.
Aria carefully transferred the beautifully crafted doughnuts into the bright pink box that Darcy had left on her table. She looked down at the delectable treats, feeling a sense of pride in her creations. Closing the box, she made her way to the window and set it down on the countertop outside. Turning to the tablet used for processing payments, she greeted the two men with a friendly smile.
“Alright, gentlemen, your total is $16.20 after the first responder discount,” Aria said, glancing over at the two men.
Before the blonde man could even react, the brunette quickly pulled out his wallet and handed over a twenty-dollar bill. “Keep the change,” he said with a playful wink, taking charge of the payment.
Aria felt her heart race a little faster, but she managed to nod in response, inwardly cursing her nervousness. “Th—thank you,” she stammered, trying her best to keep her cool.
“Have a good one, ma’am,” the blonde said with a warm smile as he took the box of doughnuts. He nudged the brunette, who seemed entranced by Aria, prompting him to stumble back a few steps before they both walked away.
As Aria bit her lip, trying to hide her smile, she celebrated her small victory before she noticed that the brunette was still looking back at her with a wild grin. Her face flushed with embarrassment, and she quickly ducked back inside the truck, trying to hide from his gaze. The whole encounter left her heart racing, and she couldn’t help but wonder if she’d see him again.
Steve's excitement was evident as he eagerly opened the lid to the bright pink box, revealing the array of sticky sweet, and fresh doughnuts inside. The delightful aroma wafted into his face, making his mouth water.
"I think I'm in love," Bucky sighed dreamily, unable to resist the temptation of the delectable treats as he snatched one of his doughnuts out of the box. He took a large bite, “Jesus,” he mumbled with his mouthful looking down at the doughnut in his hand.
Steve paused with his doughnut almost at his mouth, giving Bucky a playful look. "With the doughnut or the girl?” he asked, laughing.
“Do they have to be mutually exclusive?” Bucky asked before taking another bite.
Steve chuckled at Bucky's response, thoroughly enjoying the banter between them. "Fair enough," he said, taking a bite of his doughnut. "Guess you can have your doughnut and eat it too," he teased before devouring the rest of his treat.
Bucky grinned, his eyes twinkling mischievously. "Who says I can't have the best of both worlds?" he replied, savoring another mouthful of the delectable doughnut. They continued to enjoy their sweet indulgence on their way back to the Fire Department’s booth.
As Aria and Darcy finished packing up the food truck, they couldn't help but feel exhaustion and satisfaction from another successful day at Cubby Dough. It wasn't their first time running out of doughnuts, but they knew it meant they had served plenty of happy customers. The two friends decided to take advantage of their free afternoon and treat themselves. They locked up the truck and made their way to the farmers market, excited to explore and indulge in some of the delicious offerings from other vendors.
The farmers market was still bustling with activity, and Aria and Darcy relished in the sights and sounds around them. It was a well-deserved break for the duo, a chance to relax and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the local community.
“Oh hey, look who it is,” Darcy pointed toward the Pikesville Fire Department’s booth. “It’s the smokin’ hot fireman,” she says as the pair look through a display of hand-painted vases.
Darcy's playful comment about the "smokin' hot fireman" caught Aria's attention, and she followed Darcy's finger to spot the brunette at the Pikesville Fire Department's booth.
"Oh, cool, come on," Aria said, attempting to steer in the opposite direction.
Darcy was quick to intervene, snatching her friend's hand. "Ah ah ah," she chuckled, "Where do you think you're going?"
Aria blinked at her friend, puzzled by the question. "Isn't it obvious? Anywhere but near him, duh," she replied with a sheepish grin, trying to hide her mild embarrassment.
“Oh no, you don’t,” Darcy shook her head, laughing; she tugged Aria toward the booth.
When she got into this playful and determined mood, Aria knew better than to argue or stop Darcy. With a resigned sigh, she reluctantly followed her friend toward the Pikesville Fire Department's booth. Aria braced herself for whatever fun or mischief Darcy had in mind as they approached the booth.
A short blonde man greeted them warmly as they approached the table, offering them a Firemen's calendar to support the Pikesville Animal Welfare.
Darcy couldn't resist flipping through the calendar and teasingly muttered to Aria, "I'm gonna have to set my house on fire. Take a look at these guys." She tilted the calendar towards her friend, showcasing the tall blonde fireman who had come with the brunette. He was photographed wearing nothing but patriotic swim trunks and aviators, his chest glistening, and a flirty smile on his lips as he sprayed a hose; the golden retriever next to him was living her best life chomping at the water.
"Darcy," Aria said, trying to hide her amusement.
Aria couldn't help but be drawn to the poster board displaying animals available for adoption. Among them was a black cat named Smokey, with shiny black fur and beautiful yellow eyes. She found herself contemplating the idea of adopting him.
Darcy's amused voice interrupted her thoughts, still ogling the firefighters' calendar. "I wouldn't even think about it," she advised. "Doom wouldn't even look at you for a week after you brought your goldfish home; I can't imagine how she'll react if you bring another cat home."
Aria frowned, acknowledging that Darcy had a valid point. Doom Kitty, her temperamental feline companion, was not the easiest to get along with. Despite her delicate appearance and sweet meow, she had a feisty side and often showed her claws to anyone other than Aria. Even with Aria, she sometimes seemed more tolerated than genuinely liked.
"Well, hello there, Mr. October," Darcy playfully sang out, cocking her head to the side. "Aria, you gotta see this," she said, turning the calendar toward her friend.
Aria blinked as the calendar was thrust into her face, and her eyes fell upon the stormy blue-eyed man, shirtless with red suspenders against his tanned, toned physique; his chest had a fine dusting of hair across it, dark pink nipples, the hair seem to disappear over his well defined six pack the dusting of dark hair narrowing just under his navel disappearing into the slung low waistband of his turnout pants, showing off his Adonis belt. He stood on a ladder propped against a beautiful tree with vibrant autumn leaves in reds, browns, orange, and yellow hues. Surrounding the tree were jack-o-lanterns and hay bales, adding to the seasonal charm. He firmly gripped the ladder in one hand while the other held a black cat against his naked torso. He smiled, half-smirking for the camera, his disheveled brown hair adding a hint of charm to his rugged appearance. The picture defiantly captured the essence of October and the spirit of the season.
"I can get him to sign that for you," the short blonde said with a friendly smile. He leaned over the table, propping his head on his elbows as he looked up at them.
Aria and Darcy exchanged glances, Darcy excited and mischievous, while Aria silently begged her friend not to go through with it. "Oh, that would be amazing!" Darcy exclaimed, her eyes lighting up with mischief, clearly ignoring her friend's silent plea.
Aria couldn't help but glare at Darcy, trying to convey her reluctance. "Oh, you really don't have to," she said to the friendly fireman, mustering a smile.
The short blonde nodded, his warm smile never fading. "Nonsense!" he assured them with a wave of his hand. "It's for a good cause, after all."
"Oh, I'm Darcy, by the way," she introduced herself with a smile, holding out her hand to the man.
"Clint," he replied, shaking her hand.
Darcy couldn't resist adding a playful twist to the introduction. "Oh, and this is Aria; she totally has a thing for Mr. October," Darcy grinned wickedly, teasing her friend.
Aria's face flushed with embarrassment, and she playfully nudged Darcy, trying to downplay the comment. "Ignore her, please," she said, chuckling softly. Clint chuckled, too, finding their banter amusing.
Clint playfully drummed his hand on the table. "Don't move, ladies. I'll be right back," he winked before quickly turning on his heels and jogging towards the fire engine.
Aria couldn't help but hiss at Darcy, feeling embarrassed. "I hate you," she whispered through clenched teeth.
Darcy laughed at her friend's reaction, teasingly insisting, "No, you don't. You love me," she said with a mischievous grin, knowing that Aria's frustration was all in good fun.
Clint couldn’t resist teasing his friend as he approached Bucky and Steve. “Hey Buck, got a pretty lady over here that has a thing for Mr. October,” he said with a sly grin.
Bucky’s interest was piqued, and he looked up eagerly. “Oh yeah?” he asked, licking his lips with curiosity.
Clint playfully pointed to the two women standing in front of their table, drawing Bucky’s attention to Aria and Darcy.
One of them had her hair braided in playful pigtails; she was dressed in denim capris and the same black t-shirt he had seen earlier. As Bucky’s eyes landed on the woman standing next to her friend, he couldn’t help but be captivated by her appearance all over again. Her hair was down from its messy bun, and the sunlight caught the purple hues mixed into her dark locks, adding a touch of uniqueness to her look. Now that he had the opportunity, Bucky let his eyes roam down her full body; he’d missed the purple crystal necklace hanging around her neck, resting on her full breast that stretched out the shirt. He licked his lips, admiring her soft-looking tummy, wondering how her curves would feel under his hands. God bless whoever made those denim shorts hugging her plump ass and thick thighs showing off her beautifully tattooed legs; Bucky wanted to get more aquatinted with legs.
“Oh ho ho,” Steve chuckled, playfully slapping Bucky’s shoulder. “Looks like the doughnut goddess has heard your prayers,” he teased, referring to Aria, who seemed to have captured Bucky’s attention.
Bucky laughed along, giving Steve a mock-annoyed look. “Yeah, yeah,” he replied, rolling his eyes in good humor.
As Bucky and Steve followed Clint over to where the women stood, they were introduced to the charming duo.
Clint pointed to Steve and said, “Ladies, this here is our Captain Steve Rogers, aka Mr. July.” Steve gave a friendly nod to Darcy and Aria, acknowledging the introduction.
Next, Clint gestured toward Bucky and said with a playful grin, “And this here is our Lieutenant Bucky Barnes, aka Mr. October.” He wagged his brows in Aria’s direction, adding a touch of flirtatiousness to the introduction.
Aria’s cheeks turned even redder, and she felt a wave of embarrassment wash over her. The playful teasing and unexpected attention made her feel flustered, and she wished she could disappear.
“Aria here has a thing for Mr. October and wants him to sign her calendar,” Clint announced with a playful smile.
Bucky raised a curious eyebrow, “Is that so?” he asked, a smirk playing on his pretty pink lips as he held his hand out for the calendar. Which Darcy quickly handed over.
Aria was beginning to wonder if one could die from embarrassment. “I like black cats,” she blurted out awkwardly. Desperately wishing for a giant hole could appear and swallow her up.
Bucky chuckled warmly and teased, “I hope that’s not all you liked,” he winked, signing his name to the corner.
Aria’s cheeks reddened further; she was going to murder Darcy.
Before anyone could speak, a series of urgent tones came through the radio attached to Steve and Bucky’s belt, and everyone around the booth stilled to listen.
“Engine two, this is Central Dispatch—code 3. We have a report of a structure fire on 708 North Maple Street. Please respond immediately,” the voice on the other end urgently relayed.
Steve wasted no time and reached up to press the button on his microphone. “Engine two, Roger, over,” he replied promptly, his voice steady and focused.
Aria and Darcy stood in awe as Steve, Bucky, and Clint sprang into action, their years of training evident in their swift movements. The fire engine stood ready, its sirens blaring as the crew readied themselves to respond to the emergency; turnout gear seemingly appeared out of thin air as they efficiently dressed.
As the engine roared to life, Bucky gave Aria a reassuring wink before climbing aboard. Steve and Clint exchanged quick glances before they joined Bucky on the engine. In a matter of seconds, they were off, racing towards the structure fire. The engine’s sirens faded into the distance.
Inside the fire engine, Bucky glanced over at Steve, a hint of regret evident on his face. “I should have gotten her number,” he admitted, speaking into the coms.
Steve chuckled, a playful tone in his voice, “You didn’t write yours down when you signed the calendar?”
Bucky’s expression turned sheepish, and he shrugged, “Guess I was too focused on not tripping over my words.”
Clint, who was listening in on the conversation, chimed in with a teasing remark, “Smooth move, Barnes.”
Bucky rolled his eyes good-naturedly, “Thanks for the support, guys.”
Just then, Sam’s voice joined the coms, adding to the banter, “Hey, Bucky, don’t worry. You’ve got the charm of a superhero. I’m sure she won’t forget you that easily.”
Thor’s booming voice followed suit, “Indeed! Fear not, my friend. Many a warrior has stumbled in the presence of a fair maiden. It happens to the best of us!”
Natasha, who had been quiet until now, couldn’t resist joining in, “Oh, come on, boys. Give him a break. We’ve all been there. It’s not easy to flirt when your heart is racing faster than Quicksilver.” She winked at him.
Bucky couldn’t help but laugh at his friends’ comments. “Thanks, appreciate the pep talk.”
As the engine continued toward the scene of the fire, their camaraderie and playful banter lifted their spirits amidst the intensity of the situation.
Two weeks later….
“Doom, please come down,” Aria begged, her voice filled with concern as she looked up into the giant oak tree in her front yard. “Come on, Doom Kitty, please.”
The feline, perched high on a large branch, meowed softly, seemingly indifferent to Aria’s pleas. It stretched out leisurely, basking in the comfort of its elevated spot.
Aria’s heart sank with worry as she tried to coax the stubborn cat down. She sighed, reaching up as if she could physically coax the cat down. “I don’t know how you managed to get up there,” she said, half-amused and half-exasperated.
Doom let out another tiny meow as if acknowledging Aria but showed no intention of budging from its lofty perch.
Suddenly, Darcy appeared by Aria’s side, eating a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. “Still not budging?” she asked, looking up at the tree.
“It’s Doom Kitty; she doesn’t do anything she doesn’t want to do,” Aria replied, gesturing upward with one hand while the other rested on her hip.
Darcy chuckled, observing the defiant feline. “Looks like she’s quite content up there.”
“Yeah, I think she’s just enjoying the view,” Aria said with a small smile, but her concern was still evident.
The two friends exchanged glances before Darcy suggested, “Why don’t we try shaking the treat bag? Maybe that’ll tempt her down.”
Aria nodded, liking the idea. “Good thinking. Let’s give it a shot.”
As Darcy came back with the treat bag, Aria held her breath, praying Doom would actually be tempted by the treats. The sound of the treats rattling inside seemed to pique Doom’s curiosity. The cat perked up, its ears twitching.
“Come on, Doom Kitty,” Aria called gently, shaking the bag a bit more.
The feline looked around and then down at her owner, almost glaring as she turned around.
As minutes passed, and Doom showed no signs of budging, Aria's worry escalated. "I don't know what to do," she said, her voice tinged with concern.
Darcy pulled out her phone. "I think we should call for help," she suggested. "Let's dial the fire department. They'll have the right tools to get her down safely."
“Uh, no, I don’t think were—
“Too late,” Darcy interrupted happily as she walked back towards the house to explain the situation to the operator.
Aria sighed, defeated, “This is all you’re fault,” she grumbled, scowling at the cat in the tree.
Within minutes, the sound of sirens filled the air, and the fire engine pulled up in front of Aria's house.
Aria recognized the familiar figure stepping out of the fire engine, and her heart sank. It was Bucky; she couldn’t help but notice how good he looked in his turnout gear. The jacket hung open, revealing a navy PFD shirt underneath, and his hair appeared slightly disheveled and sweaty. When their eyes met, Bucky smirked, seemingly amused by Aria’s flushed cheeks and embarrassed expression. Aria couldn’t help but feel self-consciousness under his gaze.
“Hey there, Aria,” he greeted warmly, his voice carrying a hint of playful teasing. "I hear we have a daring feline in a tree?"
“Hey, Hi, um, Bucky,” Aria managed, pushing up her glasses, feeling a mix of relief and awkwardness at the same time. "Yes, that's Doom," she said, gesturing towards the tree. “I’m sorry, Darcy called; it’s just so cliché. Cat stuck up in a tree,” she rambled.
Bucky chuckled, his blue eyes twinkling. “It’s no problem at all; it’s not every day I get to rescue a pretty girl's kitty from a tree,” he replied, his smirk never leaving his lips.
Aria giggled; she actually giggled. Now she has to move out of town, out of the state, and change her name and hair color. Bucky winked at her before he addressed the other two firefighters with him.
Aria and Darcy watched with careful coordination as a ladder extended into the tree; Bucky climbed up it. They watched as Bucky expertly made his way up the tree, reaching out toward Doom with gentle gestures.
"Hey there, Doom Kitty," he called softly, trying to calm the agitated feline. "No need to be scared. I won't hurt you."
However, Doom was having none of it. The closer Bucky got, the more she hissed and growled, clearly not pleased with this unexpected visitor in her domain.
Bucky kept his cool, softening his voice, "It's alright, girl. I just want to help you get down safely," he said, trying to soothe her nerves.
Aria and Darcy watched with concern and amusement as Bucky engaged in a subtle "dance" with Doom Kitty, attempting to gain her trust. There were several swipes with her claws extended at Bucky’s hand; he tugged the glove off, offering the feisty feline his hand for her to sniff. Finally, after a few tense moments, Doom's agitation seemed to subside slightly. She stopped hissing and growling, allowing Bucky to move closer.
"There we go, girl," Bucky said gently, inching closer to Doom with caution. "You're doing great."
With a few more patient efforts, Bucky reached Doom and gently cradled her in his arms. He carefully made his way back down the tree, ensuring the safety of both himself and the feisty feline.
Once they were safely on the ground, Aria rushed forward to take Doom into her arms, relieved to have her furry friend back on solid ground.
“Doom Kitty,” she sighed, taking the grumpy cat from Bucky’s arms. “Thank you,” she said, biting her bottom lip and looking up at the fireman through her lashes.
Doom looked around, seemingly unimpressed by the whole situation. Her feline eyes met Aria’s, and for a moment, it almost seemed as if Doom was giving her owner a disapproving glare.
Aria couldn’t help but chuckle at the comical expression on her cat’s face. “Oh, don’t give me that look, Doom,” she teased affectionately. “You’re the one who got yourself into that mess.”
Doom flicked her tail in response as if to say, “I did it my way.”
Bucky joined in the laughter, finding Doom’s attitude amusing. “She’s got quite the personality,” Bucky remarked, reaching out to pet the cat.
Aria chuckled, feeling a bit more at ease in Bucky's presence. "That's an understatement," she said, rubbing Doom's head affectionately. “She’s a little diva.”
Doom purred contently, enjoying the attention despite her earlier defiance.
As the rest of the team finished packing their equipment, Bucky stepped closer to Aria. “You know, despite the chaos, I’m glad we got to see each other again,” he said with a hint of sincerity.
Aria blushed even more, her heart fluttering at the genuine sentiment in his words. “Yeah, me too,” she admitted, trying to gather her thoughts through her nerves.
Bucky leaned in slightly, his voice lower and filled with charm. “My shift ends in two hours; maybe we could grab a coffee or something together?” he suggested a hopeful glimmer in his eyes.
“I’d like that,” she replied, mustering a confident smile.
As the two of them exchanged numbers, Bucky promised to text her later that day to set up a time for their coffee date. Aria felt excitement and anticipation as she watched him climb back into the fire engine. She couldn’t help but smile as she watched him drive away.
Aria felt a sense of possibility in the air. There was something different about this encounter with Bucky, something that made her heart flutter with the start of something new.
As she stood there, the cool breeze gently brushing against her cheeks, Aria realized that Doom’s mischievous adventure had unexpectedly led her to a chance encounter with Bucky.
“You didn’t plan that, did you?” she asked Doom.
“Murph,” Doom Kitty replied.
Aria raised an eyebrow, “I don’t believe you,” she mumbled, walking back inside her house; Aria’s phone buzzed, and she eagerly checked her messages.
It was Bucky, just as he promised, setting up their coffee date for later that day. Her excitement grew as she replied enthusiastically, looking forward to spending more time with him. Aria couldn’t help but feel the sparks of something special in the air as she lay on the couch that afternoon. She knew that this unexpected meeting had the potential to lead to new beginnings, and she embraced the feeling with an open heart.
Little did she know that the adventurous spirit of her mischievous grumpy cat and the bravery of the firefighter who came to her rescue had set the stage for a beautiful connection that would blossom into a meaningful journey together.

When I See You Again₊˚ˑ༄
Author’s Note: refers to this to be updated with the story
Chapter 3: What a Coincidence!
He slowly walked towards you and handed over the keychain “I was walking behind you for a bit until I noticed that you dropped it” He awkwardly explained with a faint smile as he lightly scratched his head
“Oh! Thank you” You left with a sigh of relief, knowing that you hadn’t already lost the key to your new home right when you had just moved in
“JUNGHWAN—! I NEED YOUR HELP WITH SOMETHING” a loud voice emerged from the opposite house
“Ah Eomma—“ he got interrupted by the woman who came out with a basket of fresh vegetables in her arms “Give this to Mr. Jang down the block” She quickly handed him the basket
After a brief moment, the woman took notice of your presence. “Oh, I don’t recognize you. Did you move in?” She curiously asked
“Oh yeah! I moved in a few days ago and I live here” You pointed to your house
“Oh! You’re the foreign kid!” She clapped her hands knowingly.
Before you could say anything further, the woman lightly wrapped her arms around you “Get ready and come over to my house for dinner at 6! I’ve been hearing about you and we were planning a welcoming party for you”
You quickly shared a glance at Junghwan, hoping for an answer to the sudden invitation. Unfortunately, he also looked as dumbfounded as you.
☆ ☆ ☆
After a quick shower, you quickly rushed over to your closet. Although unexpected, you wanted to look presentable for the party as you would be surrounded by many, especially unknown people.
You moved around the room, pacing back and forth between the closet and the mirror. “This is why I’m not made for spontaneous plans”. You pondered in the mirror for a good while before finally coming to terms with a fit that you like
☆ ☆ ☆
Walking through the door, your heart was filled with anticipation and nervousness. You didn’t quite know what to expect but you were ready for some good Korean homemade meals.
As you faced towards the crowd, there you were with all eyes on you. Despite the cheering from everyone, that feeling of uneasiness dawned on you once more as you were being put on the spot. Despite how bright the spotlight was shining on you, you just left feeling like a sore thumb sticking out among the crowd.
But then as your eyes laid upon a certain someone, it felt as if things were going to be ok again. You left out a soft smile as you shyly waved at him
“Hey.. I hope this party doesn’t burden you too much.” Junghwan apologized as his eyes nervously looked around “They’re just excited but it can get awkward sometimes”
You smiled while slightly nodding to assure him of your understanding. You couldn’t quite figure out if it was because of his aura or his good nature but there was a sense of calmness that you could feel when it came to Junghwan.
Anticipating another icebreaker, you were going to reach out for a conversation. However, as you were about to, you got pulled away towards the crowd by your host
☆ ☆ ☆
As time passed, you became more comfortable with the party scene. You had fun interacting with the neighbors and hearing all the fun stories that they had to share within the community. Perhaps it was because you were surrounded by mostly older people but that moment filled up the missing gap in your heart by being so far away from your parents.
When dinner rolled around, you were expectedly quick to fall into a food coma by Junghwan’s mom's skillful cooking. It was about time for you to stop eating but your hands kept grabbing more food. Without a care for the world, you continued to dig in regardless. Seeing you joyfully enjoy every bite, put a warm smile on both Junghwan and his mom
“Alright everyone, after that feast, who is ready for some Karaokeee~” Your host spoke into the microphone as she excitedly displayed the karaoke lyrics screen
One by one, people stepped up to join in on the fun. One song after another, it seemed like the night would never end.
“Alright my dear Junghwan, you know the drill!” His mom gestured for him to come up “Show them how good of a trainee you are!”
You anticipated the performance, knowing his background. This would be the first time you would see another trainee performing, you were all eyes and ears to witness what he can do.
☆ ☆ ☆
As he returned to his seats, you quickly turned towards him to compliment him on his performance “That was seriously amazing. You rocked up there!” You put out a thumbs up and you showered him with more compliments
He shyly declined but you could tell how much fun he had. It was obvious that this wasn’t his first rodeo as he did it with ease and confidence. In that moment, he truly shined the brightest. You wondered to yourself if you could ever shine that brightly one day.
Lost in your thoughts, you didn’t notice your host was looking in your direction. She reached out her finger and pointed towards you. As she was about to speak, Junghwan raised his hands for an interruption
“Y/N wants to know where the convenience store is. I’ll show them around the neighborhood if you don’t mind?” He innocently smiled while you were left confused
“Uh sure, go ahead” Your host gesturing you two to leave
☆ ☆ ☆
“What was that all about?” You chuckled as you two were heading out of the house
“Oh, you were about to be called on for the karaoke. I thought you already had enough of being put on the spot for the day” He joked
“Oh” you giggled back “I actually wouldn’t mind it but I appreciate your thoughtfulness”
“Do you also enjoy singing?” Junghwan asked with curiosity, although there was also a hint of anticipation
“I do! And dancing too” You answered “Actually, when I was watching you performing out there, I felt inspired” You continued
“Oh, how so?” He asked again but this time with even more curiosity
“Well, you just seemed like you enjoyed what you’re doing. I can see your efforts and it just..feels right..to see you there on stage, if I’m making any sense” You stumbled on your own words. In crucial moments like this when your Korean shouldn’t fail you, it did
As you were busy trying to reconstruct a better phrase to express what you meant to say, Junghwan looked at you with a hopeful glimpse in his eyes. Despite how simple you phrased it, those words were encouraging for his dream.
Before he was even aware, you both had arrived at the store. He quickly opened the door and gestured to you to come in first.
“Wow, it’s not like I haven’t seen this before but seeing the place in person sure is something” You looked around in awe as you ran your fingers through the items to get a feel of the place
Junghwan quietly followed behind you as he chuckled at your fascination with something that seemed so mundane to him
☆ ☆ ☆
As you both headed back with ice creams in your hand, Junghwan gathered his courage to say something
“By the way.. I’m also sorry for abruptly leaving you there at lunch period” Junghwan apologized again as he nervously fidgetted with his fingers “I’m not good at saying no so I kind of just got dragged away” He tried to explain the situation
“Oh! You’re good, don’t worry about it” You brushed it off, although you did feel as if you were being left alone on the battlefield “Thanks to that though, I got to make some new friends” You tried to uplift the mood so he wouldn’t feel too bad
“I did see that. The trio are friendly people, you’re in good hands” He gave an assurance look
*𝘼 𝙨𝙢𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙥𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚*
“You know, not only will you make it big but you’ll be a great idol.” You gave it a few thoughts before you said that
“I mean, you seem like a kind person. But also, when you were performing out there, I could feel your hard work and the happiness you must have felt” As you ended the statement, there was a rush of dopamine going through as your earlier thoughts were now being better conveyed.
As you were getting a kick out of speaking coherently, a flustered Junghwan was taking in your words. Behind the glory of trainee life, self-doubts have always been a battle that Junghwan had to fight through every training session. With each time passed, it only got harder, despite the cheers of the people surrounding him.
Your words were not any different from the countless compliments that he received. But in a way, your words felt comforting to his inner sorrow. He felt as though you saw through him and said just the right words that he needed to hear…
End of Chapter 3
Author’s Note: Wow that was a lot longer than usual. Guess being stuck on the plane for 10 hours really did something

Sunday, July 7th
This morning I walked over to Myeongdong Cathedral, the first church built in Korea, in 1887 by French missionaries. At the time of its construction it was the largest building in Seoul. It was part of a movement in the 1880s by western countries to attempt to “modernize” aka “westernize” Korea, prior to the 1880s was known as the “hermit kingdom” because they refused to engage with the west. They established diplomatic relations with the US in 1882 and a flood of western influences came pouring in, in sharp contrast to traditional culture. This conflict eventually led to political division leaving Korea vulnerable to invasion just a few decades later. This church when it was built was larger than the Emperor’s Palace, which made a big political statement at the time.
More recently, the church has been used as a haven for protestors against the military dictatorship in the 70’s and 80’s, the church offered sanctuary there, protected student protestors against arrest, and was the site of a massive hunger strike.
After visiting there I went to the Lotte World Tower. I don’t really understand still what Lotte World is other than a gigantic conglomerate of businesses. They have so many brands here and shops and malls and hotels. Lotte World Tower is I think currently the tallest building in Seoul (Namsan Tower might be taller though, although that isn’t really a building but a telecommunications tower). It is 123 floors high with a shopping mall, cinema, aquarium, concert hall, lake, and Disneyland-esque theme park.
I rode the elevator to the glass observation deck on the 121st floor which was very trippy. It was a cloudy day but even still the view was incredible.
In the evening I attempted the food tour again, this time I made it there on time. I like doing group tours at least part of the time because its really nice to have someone who knows their way around plan things and its also nice to be around other people. I don’t like group travel when its all the time, but here and there it can be very refreshing.
I’m almost 90% sure the host of the tour did the same tour I took last year, but I didn’t realize until I got there because he had changed his name from a Korean name to an English name on tripadvisor in order to get more people to sign up.
Small world.
At the market we had tteokbokki (rice cakes in a spicy sauce), kimbap (rice and vegetable rolls wrapped in seaweed), mandu (dumplings), pajeon (potato pancakes), knife cut noodles, bulgogi (beef stew), bibimbap (rice, meat, and vegetable bowl), maekgolli (rice wine), soju, beef tartare and at the end, live octopus.
I tried everything except the beef tartare. I even ate the live octopus. It wasn’t exactly live, but it had been chopped up seconds before being served and it was definitely still moving quite a bit. I felt bad because octopus are very intelligent animals but no one else was trying it so I figured its better to not waste. It was very hard to pick up with chopsticks while it was still moving, I had to literally chase it around the plate. I’ve had cooked octopus before and it doesn’t have a strong flavor, the texture (and this time the movement) is just strange.
We learned some Korean drinking games as well which was really fun. Korea has a very intricate drinking culture based on social hierarchy and Confucian values. Most workplaces will have frequent team dinners with coworkers which are seen as very rude to skip or leave early. There are three parts: dinner, drinking, and karaoke. You can’t skip any part. Younger or less experienced employees pay and serve food to older and more experienced workers/bosses. You’re not supposed to serve yourself, fill your own cup, or put food on your own plate, the youngest person at the table is supposed to do it for you and serve themselves last. It’s very intense, especially for newer employees, but can also be a lot of fun especially since the work culture in Korea is also extremely intense.
The rain is supposed to get a lot more intense these next few days here as the monsoon properly passes over Seoul, so I’ll be spending the next 3 days mostly in museums and train stations.
I’ll try to update again on Wednesday, until then, 안녕히가세요

There is no recipe of Murim Dumplings w/ Chicken Broth in ORV Novel. However, this recipe is inspired and made by combining Chinese and Korean dumplings recipe and hoping for the best it would turn out well.
(dumpling filling)
- ground pork [fat to meat: 2:8]
- ground chicken
- finely chopped shrimp
- cooked korean glass noodles
- firm tofu
- grated ginger
- grated garlic
- finely chopped napa cabbage
- minced shiitake mushroom
- chopped onion chives
- black pepper
- soy sauce
- fish sauce
- sesame oil
- egg
(dumpling wrapper)
- flour
- salt
- hot water
[*note: 15 inches wide (like baozi wide) yet thin (like xiao long bao); with flour to water ratio of 70:30.]
(chicken broth)
- vegetable oil
- chicken wings
- chicken feet
- korean radish
- napa cabbage
- carrots
- white onion
- onion leeks
- chinese celery
- ginger
- garlic
- splash of soy sauce
- splash of fish sauce
- salt & pepper (to taste)
xxx
1.) In a heated big pot, pour a teaspoon of oil and lightly fry the wings and feet until a little light brown. Add 1000ml of water and put all the ingredients. Let it simmer. When the scum surfaces, remove it before letting it boil. Use pressure cooker to save time.
2.) While the chicken broth is boiling, prepare the ingredients for the filling.
3.) Put everything in a big bowl and gently mix together. Set it aside in a cool and dry place with a clear wrap.
4.) When the broth is ready, drain the clear broth in another pot with a strainer. Do not throw the ingredients and make other dish with it. Set the broth aside.
5.) Mix the flour and salt together before adding the hot water, one tablespoon at a time. Knead well until its soft and smooth for 15-20 minutes. Cover the dough with a wet cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
6.) Lightly dust a clean work surface with flour to prevent the dough from sticking on the surface. Roll the dough in long cylinder about 10 inches in diameter and thin like a xiao long bao's.
7.) Fill the wrappers with generous fillings and shape them up with baozi-like folding by rotating the hand to make pleats with a thumb pushing the filling in the "bag" and pinching the top to seal it. Lightly wet it on the sides to seal it well.
8.) Brush steamer with oil before placing the dumplings and cook by steaming for 12-15 minutes.
9.) When the dumplings are cooked, serve it with the chicken broth. Enjoy!

CHEF ILONA: JEYUK BOKKEUM
Stir frying the Bokkeum way
Exploring the cooking techniques found in Korean cuisine
What is bokkeum? It is the Korean method to cook food or food ingredients with little or a small amount of liquid by stir-frying over heat.
Origins
The origins of jeyuk (jeyuk is the Korean word for pork) bokkeum can be traced back to the Joseon Dynasty in Korea, which lasted from the late 14th century to the late 19th century. During this time, meat dishes were relatively rare in Korea due to Confucian dietary restrictions that encouraged vegetarianism. However, pork was more commonly consumed in Korea than other meats because pigs were easy to raise and provided a reliable source of protein.
The modern version of jeyuk bokkeum, as we know it today, likely began to take shape during the 20th century. With the introduction of chili peppers and other new ingredients, Korean cuisine started to evolve, incorporating spicier and more flavorful elements into traditional dishes.
All about that spice
Jeyuk bokkeum is usually made with a combination of gochujang and gochugaru.
Gochugaru is a coarsely ground Korean chili powder similar to crushed red pepper flakes in texture, traditionally made from sun-dried peppers without the seeds.
Gochujang or red chili paste is a savory, sweet, and spicy fermented condiment popular in Korean cooking. It’s primary constituents are gochugaru, glutinous rice, and salt. The sweetness comes from the starch of cooked glutinous rice, cultured with saccharifying enzymes during the fermentation process.
Though the application of chilies in this dish comes two-fold, yet the dish isn’t nearly as spicy as you might think. And of course, you can always adjust the heat level to your taste. You can omit gochugaru if you like it less spicy or add more to make it spicier.
Why marinating matters
The technique of marinating meat in Korean cuisine, known as "bulgogi," dates back centuries. The term "bulgogi" means "fire meat," and it originally referred to beef dishes. Over time, this marinating and grilling technique was adapted for various meats, including pork, leading to the creation of “jeyuk bokkeum."
Jeyuk bokkeum gained popularity in South Korea as a delicious and affordable street food option. It's known for its spicy and savory flavors, making it a favorite among many Koreans. It can be found in restaurants and homes throughout South Korea
This dish can be served in ssam, lettuce wraps alongside other dishes, or it can be enjoyed with rice and some additional vegetables. If you happen to have some kimchi, this would be a great accoutrement to enjoy with the pork.
The dish's history reflects the adaptability and creativity of Korean cuisine, where traditional ingredients and techniques are combined with new flavors and ingredients to create delicious and distinctive dishes like jeyuk bokkeum.
Jeyuk Bokkeum
Adapted
Serves 6
1 ½ pound pork loin (pork belly is traditional- if you use belly increase cooking time to 12-15 minutes) cut into bite size pieces (1/8 inch thick)
¼ cup gochujang
2 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons gochugaru
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
5 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon ginger, minced
1 medium size onion, sliced
4 green onions, sliced
1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
Add all the marinade ingredients into a bowl with the pork along with the onions and green onions.
Mix everything together until fully combined.
Marinate the pork in the fridge for at least 30 minutes, but overnight is best.
To cook, heat a heavy bottomed pan, or preferable in a large cast-iron skillet, cook the marinated pork (in 2 batches if you have a small pan).
Fight the temptation to start moving the meat around in the pan the moment is touches it. It is important to allow the pork to sear and become caramelized. Leave it for 30 seconds and stir. Repeat the process until the pork is cooked.

Baby Shower Cake Doesn't Have To Be Hard. Read These Four Tips
One popular example of fusion cooking is Korean-Mexican fusion, also known as Ko-Mex. This fusion combines Korean BBQ with Mexican flavors and ingredients. For example, Korean BBQ tacos can be made by using marinated beef, topped with kimchi, salsa, and lime wedges. Another example is a Korean-Mexican burrito, which combines Korean BBQ chicken with beans, rice, cheese, and salsa, wrapped in a flour tortilla.
Another popular fusion cuisine is Indian-Chinese. This fusion combines the bold and spicy flavors of Indian cuisine with the savory and umami flavors of Chinese cuisine. One popular dish is the Indian-Chinese chili chicken, which is made by stir-frying chicken with onions, bell peppers, tiktok cake and a spicy chili sauce. Another example is the Manchurian fried rice, which combines Chinese fried rice with Indian spices and vegetables.
Lastly, we have the Italian-Thai fusion, which combines the hearty and comforting flavors of Italian cuisine with the fresh and zesty flavors of Thai cuisine. One popular dish is the Thai green curry pasta, which combines green curry paste with pasta, chicken, and vegetables. Another example is the Thai basil pesto pizza, which replaces traditional basil with Thai basil and tops the pizza with chicken, peppers, and onions.
In conclusion, fusion cooking is a creative and exciting way to explore different cultures and flavors. By combining different ingredients and techniques, you can create unique and delicious dishes that can take your taste buds on a culinary adventure. So next time you're in the kitchen, try experimenting with different flavors and see what delicious fusion recipes you can come up with!

What are your plans for the day ahead? I actually feel like binge-watching Good Mythical Morning tonight; overheard my siblings watching it earlier and now all I want to do is to catch up on the episodes I missed all year long. Apart from that...might have to work on this kinda urgent deck for work, even if we’re on company shutdown -_-
What was the last thing you cleaned? I tidied up the living room since my sister and I wrapped gifts for an hour and the place got very messy very fast.
When do you go to your soonest appointment? I don’t have any booked in the near future. What did you last order online? Just more Christmas presents - the last batch I got online were for cousins on my dad’s side. I still have to shop tomorrow, but since online orders made at this point obviously won’t make it here by the 24th/25th I’ll be going to the mall for those instead.
Can you see any bottles from where you're sitting? Yeah I’m taking bottled coffee right now. It’s ‘Sweet Black’ flavored, which I’m loving because otherwise this brand’s regular Black variant is way too bitter for my taste. Which I don’t hate, but I can’t fully enjoy either.
What time do you usually try to wind down in the evening? Around 8 or 9 PM. 9 is my upper limit - I don’t want to be doing any overtime work or chores by that point, and ideally I’m already lounging in bed or on the couch just going through my phone.
What's something you have been putting off? The said deck/Powerpoint I have to work on. One because we’re on company break and it’s just difficult to be in the mindset to work; two because it’s a deck for an upcoming pitch (for a potential client) and I always dread that stuff. I really have to touch it tonight though because by tomorrow I’ll already be out all day to shop and to have my Christmas gathering with friends.
What restaurants do you frequently eat at? I'm not a regular anywhere anymore, but in general if I do eat out I like going to Japanese or Korean restaurants. Do you like banana pudding with a lot of bananas or more vanilla wafers? Banana pudding sounds so nasty.
How many books would you guess you've read in the last 5 years? 1 or 2, I’m guessing.
What was the last message you sent? “I didn’t cross-post it, it’ll be fine!” to my sister. Basically I posted an Instagram story of our gift-wrapping session earlier and the photo revealed some of the gifts I bought. My sister was just looking out and telling me not to post it on Facebook to keep relatives from seeing the presents, so I reassured her that I didn’t toggle the feature to crosspost it. Have you ate anything green today? What's your favorite way to add greens to your diet? The sandwich my dad made for me earlier had some lettuce in it. I don’t really have habits when it comes to vegetables...Filipino cuisine is inherently loaded with them, so it’s not like I have to go out of my way to access them.
When did you last light a candle or incense? Months ago. Not really a part of my routine.
Is it currently warm where you are? It’s finally getting colder in the evenings yaaaaaay. It’s currently 27C, which is a lovely and welcome change.
Have you ever fallen out of bed? Once, and as a kid. I vividly remember crying the moment I crashed and my mom immediately springing up when she heard the noise.
What do you like on your hot dogs or burgers? Continued from last night. I don’t have hotdogs frequently, but on my burgers I like to have jalapeño slices, onions, and always some sort of mayo dressing on them. I have novelty burgers from time to time and I’ve learned that the best gimmicks are doughnuts and peanut butter,
Are you currently listening to anything? Yeah, I literally JUST prompted Indigo to play. I’m at the first few notes of Yun.
What did you last put in storage? In our general bodega space, shoes. We don’t really have a designated storage room for things that need to be put away for a while.
What's your favorite thing to do outside? Go to museums and art galleries, drive around (I don’t mind getting stuck in traffic these days, especially if it means I get to be by myself), go through bookstores, eat.
Are there any celebrities that you are a big fan of? BTS would be a very obvious answer here. I have other favorites too, but I check in with them and what they’re up to only from time to time - Paramore, Beyoncé, bunch of other artists in the Korean music scene here and there.
Do you ever watch award shows? Only when the boys have a major participation or performance. Otherwise I have largely stopped caring, especially when I heard more and more claims of racism and favoritism come about. Also, I never really recovered from 25 winning over Lemonade as Album of the Year - if Adele herself can’t accept the award, you’ve got a problem in your hands lmao.
Do you usually run out of shampoo or conditioner first? Conditioner because I have to use a fuckton of it for my bleached hair. My head reacts terribly to shampoo.
Do you have any LED lights in your home? I guess, but I wouldn’t be able to identify which.
What is your biggest challenge? Saving money. When you grow up not-so-well-off, there are two routes you take – be very rigid about saving to avoid going through what you experienced ever again...or be an excessive spender to make up for the times you couldn’t afford the things you want. Unfortunately, I am the latter hahaha.
What was the last sweet thing you've eaten? My mom had me try these chocolate coffee bites? nibblers? tiny thingies? that she got as a Christmas present. SO good, I might end up eating the whole box.
Do you prefer buying new clothes or thrift shopping for clothes? Both. As long as I like the look, doesn’t matter where it’s from at that point.
What is something you need right now? To finish my Christmas shopping list PLZ.
What's something you like that is blue? My denim jeans.
Have you treated yourself today? Kind of? I have a deck to work on but I am ‘treating’ myself but ignoring it. Hehe
Have you ever traveled alone? Not yet! It’s something I really want to do, even just locally. Filipinos are very judgmental when it comes to this though, and the last thing I want to happen is to end up being the anonymous subject of some random ass content creator talking about how I must be some lonely person going through something. No, Mark, I just want to go to the fucking beach.
What color is your most worn jacket/hoodie? It’s navy blue.
Who is someone you would like to get to know more? Reena; we’ve been friends for over a year but we only hang out in the context of BTS gatherings. I’d love to have more solo dates with her and become as close with her as I am with Angela. Also my new associate, Erin; she’s definitely easier to get along with and talk to vs my previous teammate.
What toy do you miss the most from your childhood? My cash register. Loved that little thing.
Have you ever lost something valuable to you? Nothing comes to mind. I lose things a lot, but for the most part they’ve just been tiny trinkets here and there that I get over by the end of the day.
What or who has impacted your life the most? My parents, for better or for worse.
Would you say you are toxic in any way? In the past. It’s something I continue to actively work on.
What's one of your favorite memories from the past year? Going to Zambales with my closest friends for my birthday.
How often do you use a straw? Usually when I buy drinks from restaurants and I get served a paper straw.
What's your current favorite song? Closer by RM, Mahalia, and Paul Blanco. Fascinating how it used to be my least favorite track (if I had to pick a least favorite) off Indigo and now I can’t even stop repeating it. That di-di-diddy-diddy-bop goes harder.
What are some books you'd recommend to someone? I wouldn’t even know.

Korean cuisine is known for its bold flavors, vibrant colors, and unique combinations of ingredients. Here are some classic Korean dishes you absolutely need to try, along with easy recipes to help you bring the deliciousness of Korean food into your kitchen!
1. Bibimbap
Bibimbap is a mixed rice dish topped with an array of vegetables, meat (usually beef), a fried egg, and gochujang (Korean chili paste).
Easy Recipe: Cook rice and set aside. Sauté vegetables like spinach, carrots, and mushrooms separately. In a bowl, place a serving of rice, arrange the sautéed vegetables on top, add sliced beef (or tofu for a vegetarian option), and top with a fried egg. Drizzle with gochujang and mix before eating!
2. Kimchi
Kimchi is a staple in Korean cuisine, made from fermented vegetables, typically napa cabbage and radishes, seasoned with chili pepper, garlic, and ginger.
Easy Recipe: Chop napa cabbage and sprinkle with salt, letting it sit for a few hours. Rinse and mix with garlic, ginger, gochugaru (Korean chili powder), and fish sauce (or soy sauce for a vegan version). Pack into a jar and let ferment at room temperature for a few days before refrigerating.
3. Bulgogi
Bulgogi is marinated beef that’s grilled or stir-fried, known for its sweet and savory flavor.
Easy Recipe: Slice beef thinly and marinate in a mixture of soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, garlic, and pepper for at least 30 minutes. Stir-fry the marinated beef with sliced onions and carrots until cooked through. Serve with rice and lettuce leaves for wrapping.
4. Japchae
Japchae is a stir-fried glass noodle dish made with sweet potato noodles, vegetables, and sometimes meat.
Easy Recipe: Soak sweet potato noodles in hot water until soft, then drain. Stir-fry a mix of vegetables (like bell peppers, carrots, and spinach) in sesame oil, add the noodles, and season with soy sauce and sesame seeds. For added protein, toss in some beef or tofu.
5. Tteokbokki
Tteokbokki are spicy rice cakes that are chewy and satisfying, often found in street food stalls.
Easy Recipe: Boil water with gochujang and sugar to create a sauce. Add sliced rice cakes and fish cakes (optional), simmer until the sauce thickens, and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
