I never used to do fanarts n such but yesterday I ended up making a genshin oc which is rly neat except he’s absolutely flooding my brain now

So, does anyone know if we have a canonical reason why the traveler can just, posses the different saurians in Natlan. Ik in-game yeah it's a new travel mechanic but it got my brain thinking

To figure it out, there's a few things we need to consider:

1. The traveler can "possess" any saurian not in a civilian designated structure like the arena and the within the tribes

2. The traveler, while they are saurians, get treated as an odd but still counted as saurians by the other ones as indicated by the usual head tilt and visible question mark

3. While in-game whenever the traveler possesses saurians, they dissapear as enemies during battles. And they can also die by the traveler's own hand when possessed. However, they still end up respawning where the traveler original possesed them

4. The traveler cannot, or chooses not to, posses baby saurians or adjacent boss saurian enemies

5. When exiting their saurian form, they only leave a holographic marker behind

Initially I thought that meant that this was symbolic of the traveler riding the saurians giving hoyo less effort to animate, but that wouldn't explain why other saurians saw the traveler as one of them OR the fact that the traveler couldn't have possibly gotten 3 saurian companions in the small amount of time they've been in Natlan. They also can't be taking pre-existing saurians because they always reappear where the traveler originally possesed them. So "posses" isn't the correct term.

Thus, I headcanon that the traveler, in some sort of spiritual or shapshifting power, can turn into saurians.

This would fit as suitable explanation to all of my previously mentioned statements, and also because I think it would be adorable. The traveler could open full communications between Natlan and their saurian companions. The Natlan playable characters could use us as transport of if they just want a cute animal friend. Freakouts when new characters see traveler tranform/detransform.

Another layer is that, why is it that the traveler can only do it now? I think there are two factors given the Natlan Nation.

1. Saurians are dragons

2. Natlan is filled with Abyss energy

What if all the corrupted energy we've been purifying is actually the traveler unkowingly increasing their original powers. And why their twin sided with the abyss, because it gives them back what was cut off from them.

It can be that because the saurians have undergone revolution alongside humans and abyssal energy the traveler resonates with them.

Or my favorite alternative that since dragons are usually being of great power and divinity, plausibly one of the traveler's original powers was either becoming a dragon or possesing dragon-like power.

It's just, my thoughts. Personally I'm not too well versed into genshin's lore so I could be wayyy off course.

Regardless I will continue believing the traveler animorphs into saurians and no one can stop me.
