I need to know your thoughts on the on set drama between Tobey Maguire and James Franco because it is amusing.
When Tobey and Kirsten were dating James Franco was so jealous that he went around the set telling the crew that Tobey Maguire ‘looks like a frog’ and that critter imagery reminded me of you and FTD
So I am aware of this incident but never as a Kirstin and Tobey dating thing, especially since I’ve always been fairly convinced that was a publicity stunt.
In terms of my mortal enemy Frames Janco, it’s not exactly a shocker that he of all people is treating the people around him like pure garbage. Any time I see someone mention him in the context of another person, it’s usually because he’s treating them like shit for his own amusement or benefit. Have you heard the story from Dave Franco about the sleeping bags? The dude just treats people poorly. I hate him for a reason.

Old art of Kristin from my old magical girl au from last may/june (lore under the cut)
In the au she's a vigilante with Phil who is against Schlatt turning the artform of being a magical girl into a glorified, government funded dog fights/beauty pageants. Kristin was once actually apart of the MGA (Magical Girl Association/Arena) back when it was just a program that paid magical girls for the work they do for the city. But once Schlatt retired being a MG and started running the MGA more as a business, Kristin was kicked from the program for her powers being seen as "too gruesome and unprofitable".
The MGA makes its profits in two ways: Selling licensed merchandise of its MG's and letting outsiders watch/make wagers on the MGs fighting each other as training. Kirstin, also known as "Lady Death" when she's in MG form, has the ability of speeding up one's lifecycle by touching them. (think of the Forest Spirit from Princess Monokoke) The speed of this rapid aging does somewhat depend on her emotions and her relationship with whatever living thing she touches (Example: if she touches Phil while calm for 30 seconds, he'll age 4-5 years. But if she touches Schlatt for the same amount of time while emotions are high, he would be a pile of bones.) Her power is known as "Life Acceleration" and is theorized to contribute to her slower aging. This power cannot be turned off and she wears gloves 24/7 to prevent any accidental aging. Its also been theorized that once/if she dies, then her life acceleration will plague the world and cause the extinction of life on earth, but those are just silly fan theories and head canons :).
Well with this darker reputation in mind, Lady Death had a fairly small fanbase and an even smaller demand for merchandise. Lump in with the fact she can't train like the other MGs because of the risk of killing her fellow MGs. At first Kristin was pissed but rather understanding as of why she couldn't be a part of the MGA to an extent but as the policies became more restrictive and bias towards more "profitable magical girls", her patience with the program grew thin.
Her final straw was the day the MGA change their payment policies to the point where only the most popular and "brand safe" MGs could ever make a living under the MGA. A program where its whole point was to give the dozens of people brave enough to defend civilians from danger the resources and pay they need to continue their work is now throwing money to whoever throws more back. These new policies essentially forced Phil into finding a new job because what once could comfortably cover his life with Kristin and a small family down the line is now barely anything.
So, during the day Phil and Kristin work their full time jobs and at night they each do commission work as Magical Girls as a side hustle. Since the new policies there has been a shortage of MGs who can/are willing to deal with threats that are causing a muck. This has led to people personally commissioning Unofficial Magical Girls to do smaller jobs like patrolling on a smaller scale to prevent any situations from happening. Doing commission work is rather risky because its illegal to be a MG without a proper license and the only way to get one is if you're part of the MGA and you work under the programs regulations.
The couple, especially Kristin is very against the MGA and what has become of it. There was a brief moment in time where the two were very vocal of these changes in policies but the movement was not successful. Kristin to this day is a unofficial magical girl and her persona as Lady Death is still openly against the MGA. Meanwhile Phil has retired from the magical girl scene and is now focused on being a stay-at-home father.
#magical girl au#minecraft magical girls#kristin minecraft#mumza my beloved#trixtin#misstrixtin#mumza and dadza#philza#dadza#jschlatt#<-he's mentioned like twice#but damn they got beef#I wrote a lot more than I expected#mcyt#Idk how gender works in this#I guess everyone is like fem presenting but they keep all keep their preferred gender identity#I know it just looks like Kristin but the magical girl stuff is in the lore#I can't believe I still remember all this#There SO much more I can go on about and I probably will when I find the motivation to type it down

NEW SIMBLR Hi everyone! I made this simblr back in September and just kinda started a legacy. That save is now glitching out of control, so I took that as a sign to start over and formally introduce myself! My name is Kirstine and I'm 23. I've played The Sims since I was nine, but I'm fairly new to the simblr community (so any advice will be much appreciated<3). If I had to describe myself with three sims traits it would probably be bookworm, family-oriented and hot-headed. I'm gonna start a new legacy gameplay as soon as I get a new save up and running!
English is not my first language, so please excuse any spelling/grammatical mistakes!

Extremely Short Reviews of Many Matthias Schoenaerts Movies (part 2)
(this guy)
Fairly long post but shorter than the last one so... you've been warned
Racer and The Jailbird or Le Fidèle
The title says it all. A race car driver, Bibi, falls in love with a bank robber, Gigi. Fairly sweet love story with a tragic ending. The star of this movie is the excellent chemistry between Bibi and Gigi so if you're not into love stories skip this one. (the english title is oddly hard to get right because I always want to say either 'Racer and Jailbird' or 'The Racer and The Jailbird')
highlights:
adorable couple stuff
good sex scenes
kinda funny from what I remember
Gigi hates dogs which is funny because Matti loves dogs. This is the second time he's had to pretend to hate dogs. First time was in Rust and Bone.
Disorder or Maryland
(gif by @candordisarmsparanoia )
Matthias plays the french equivalent to a Marine with PTSD. He either discharged or on a forced temporary leave and gets a job as a body guard for a rich guy's wife and son. Fairly slow until about a third of the way in and the action kicks up to 11.
Hightlights:
Matthias's looks of yearning are in top form.
Made me yell at the screen multiple times "say something!" "don't say that!" "DON'T SAY THAT IN FONT OF THE KID"
The wife is from National Treasure. That's why she looks familiar.
Pulsar
I don't get this one. Someone hacked this guys wifi after his girlfriend moves to New York for work and they're doing a long distance relationship. Here's the thing... it's been a long time since I saw this one but it didn't seem like the hacker did much. They sent one fake breakup text to matti's girlfriend but yeah ... I don't understand the main dilemma of this movie.
highlights:
Another dutch movie!
Mattias does a skype puppet show for his girlfriend that is just so Awkward.
Suite Française
Matthias plays a composer turned Notsea officer who is part of a platoon of NotSeas that have taken over a French village. One of his jobs is to sort through letters that turn out to be 90% of the villagers trying to turn each other over the Germans because of loyalty is an illusion. It's a village of French snitches basically. They all think doing the notseas favors will get them immunity...this doesn't work.
Highlights:
Matti's got a dog again! (It's the dog of a family fleeing from the German invasion but still... It's a cute dog...that is also a constant reminder of the horrors of war)
Matti being charming while wearing a notsea uniform is kinda jarring.
Kirstin Scott Thomas is a Force to be Reckoned With. She starts off as an antagonist but eventually joins the good guys. She's also one of the few that hates the Germans right of the bat so that's a point in her favor.
Margot Robbie is in this! I just learned that on imdb. No idea who her character was.
Fun Interesting fact: based on a novel written by Irène Némirovsky during the invasion. I don't think I can do her life story justice so look her up because it's complicated. She was born Jewish but converted to Catholicism in her 20s. I personally think that helps explain how this story came about and the themes of ambivalence running through it. but that's just one goy's opinion. (This part was so hard to write because I really didn't want to accidentally be antisemitic while talking about this and if I was please please tell me)
Red Sparrow
From WWII to the cold war. Slightly easier topic. My first Jennifer Lawrence movie! She plays a ballerina who breaks her leg and has to become a spy, I don't get why she can't go back to ballet once her leg heals... I feel like I missed something there. Matthias plays her creepy uncle who has an incestuous crush/obsession with her.
Highlights:
At first I thought matti and the guy playing the American agent should have switched roles because I thought Matthias wasn't great at playing a creep but I was proven wrong in the end.
Matthias very last scene is chef's kiss
Best line ever "You sent me to whore school" (just look up a clip of that don't watch the whole movie)
Recommend for: people who like movies about whore school because that's what the majority of this movie is.
Getting into the short films now!!
Death of a Shadow
Surprise surprise, Another bitter sweet tragedy. The best way to get Matthias in a movie is to make sure it has a tragic ending. This one is about a WWI(?) soldier who is stuck in a limbo museum and to get out he has to collect shadows of people as they die for the Curator, who prefers murder to old age. I do recommend this one even though its sad. It used to be on amazon prime but I'm not sure where to find it now.
Daughter
A.k.a The Closest Thing to a Rom-com We'll Ever Get From This Man.
This my favorite short of his. It's about a girl who's waiting to hear from her dad as she fixes up his boat. While she's waiting she meets Mattias. very cute and of course a little melancholy.
vimeo
The Muse
Matthias plays a poet looking for his muse. but once he finds her he gets a little scared.
Honorable mentions
The Command or Kursk
I tried so hard to watch this one but it turns out I can't watch people trapped in a submarine. I freak out. but I got through enough get really really mad at the russian government.
Our Souls at Night and Bloodties
I skimmed through these two and basically just watched Matti's scenes so can't give a good review of them as films in their own right. Matthias was great in them.

Here’s a personal recommendation list for trans day of visibility, more on the transmasc side, as it’s media I’ve been enjoying and relating to throughout my transition so far.
Books
Beautiful Music for Ugly Children by Kirstin Cronn-Mills
Features a trans man in the beginning stages of socially transitioning in a small town while beginning to host a radio show. Very sarcastic, touching, and was deserving of the stonewall book award in 2014. It was written by a well-informed cis woman, uses slightly outdated language, and has an unsavory trope I’ve found in all books about trans people, but out of all the books wit FtM leads that I’ve read, it’s my favorite. CW transphobia, assault
Some Assembly Required by Arin Andrews
An autobiography from Arin Andrews about his junior year in high school, when he first starts transitioning socially and medically. It also documents his side of his relationship with Katie Rain Hill, a trans woman who wrote a book from her perspective titled “Rethinking Normal” CW Transphobia
Gender Failure by Ivan Coyote and Rae Spoon
A joint autobiography about two people sharing their stories of gender exploration and transition, and why they identify as gender failures. It acts almost as a novelization of a live show they toured together, and watching some of the clips from the show while reading it is a fantastic augmentation. CW transphobia
Beyond Magenta by Susan Kuklin
A compilation of interviews with six trans teens, they tell the story of their life and transitioning journey, with stories from people of different walks of life. This book lets the interviewees control the narrative of the story, and truly shows Kuklin’s skills in photography and writing. This book also earned the Stonewall Book Award and gives visibility to people who often don’t see any. As the interviewees control the narrative, any transphobia is not discussed heavily or vividly, it’s acknowledged and then they move on.
Musical Artists
Athens Boys Choir
If you want 90’s-2000’s hip-hop but also want it to be unapologetically queer and Jewish, then this is the artist for you! He mixes the style with spoken word poetry, so eac album as a mix of lighthearted songs celebrating diversity while having some that are performed as if he’s trying to heal his soul from the world.
Favorite Songs
The Metrosexual Threw Off My Gaydar
Mourner’s Prayer
Erasing Too Hard
Athens, GA
Ezra Furman
If you want some retro grungy alt-pop then he might be for you. While he isn’t trans, he identifies himself as androgynous and has some really relatable songs about being queer and gnc. Transangelic Exodus, his most recent album, tells the story of him running away with his lover from an unsupportive town.
Favorite Songs
Maraschino-Red Dress $8.99 at Goodwill
Body Was Made
Restless Year
Wobbly
This list is far from complete, but it’s just some of my favorites that I know fairly thoroughly. Feel free to add on with your favorite trans media!

Homecoming
Chapter Twenty-Four
“Did I…did I harm you in any way?”
Walburga nuzzled into Victor’s throat, tracing her finger along a particularly nasty scar arcing from his shoulder to his solar plexus. “Well, if you’re worried about getting me with child, there is no need. That ship sailed a few years ago.”
“No,” Victor murmured bashfully. “I mean, did I physically harm you at any point? You cried out several times, and I probably should have stopped, but I was not in my right mind in that moment…”
Walburga guffawed, then caught herself, realization dawning on her. He looked upon her with such open sincerity and worry that she couldn’t help but kiss him.
“No, Victor,” she assured him gently, stroking his shoulder. “Those were very happy sounds. If you’d been hurting me I would have let you know.”
Walburga could see sunlight slanting in through the closed window shutters, and her body told her that the morning was old. She burrowed her face deeper into Victor’s neck, though, unwilling to face the outside world just yet. He pressed his lips to the top of her shaggy head (Brave man, there, she thought to herself). She squeezed him closer, but gingerly, half-worried that she would crush his bones. He was so painfully gaunt. She would have to make sure he ate properly today. He seemed the type who would forget his meals. After a time, he shifted, lifting her chin with a wry smile.
“We should get up,” Victor said softly.
“One more minute.” Walburga buried her face into his chest.
“But…”
“Victor, this is the most content and happy I have been since…” Walburga admitted. “Well, I can’t remember the last time. Once I step outside of this room, I will have to be the woman who has lost her every earthly possession and gained a hall full of people who need aid. Just…one more minute.”
“Very well.” Victor pulled her against him, shocked (for the second time in so many hours) at how strong his grip could be for such a skinny frame.
They luxuriated for just a moment until they were roused by a frantic knock at the door. “Miss ‘Burga! Miss ‘Burga!”
Victor huffed a sigh, threw on his trousers and tunic with a ridiculous speed, and opened the door a crack. “Yes?”
“Oh…oh god…” Walburga could hear Gerta stammering on the other side of the threshold. “I am so sorry, Sir, I thought that Miss ‘Burga was in this…”
“I’m here, Gerta,” Walburga called, throwing on her underdress. “What do you need?”
“Oh! Ohhhh…I…uhh…” It took a few moments for Gerta to collect herself. “Right! It’s Hilda! I think it’s her time!”
“How long has she been at it?” Walburga demanded. “How far apart are her pains?”
“Just a few minutes,” Gerta said. “She said she was feeling them for some time, but with everything going on didn’t want to bother anyone.”
“Shallya’s feathery arse! I’ll be there in a moment,” Walburga replied gruffly. “Boil some water, have clean rags and blankets ready.”
Gerta departed, and Walburga pulled on her overdress, grimacing at its state. The filthy thing was caked with old blood and other fluids she preferred not to consider. Crestfallen, Walburga dropped it, realizing she would have to go out in her underdress.
“Should probably burn that thing,” she sighed grimly, sliding on her shoes. “To go along with everything else.”
“Walburga,” Victor said softly. “We will get it all back. I swear it.”
“Thank you, Victor.” Walburga paused, smiling wistfully. “I hope to see you later.”
“I…uh…wait...” Victor dithered in the middle of the room looking mildly distraught, then roughly pulled her in for a deep, frantic kiss. When he released her, he looked just as dazed as she must have. “Good luck.”
Walburga stumbled giddily out of the chamber, unable to leave the inn without a silly grin lighting up her face. She knew that grin would fade as soon as she stepped outside, and she knew that mountains of grueling tasks lay ahead. It was going to be an arduous, heartbreaking day, undoubtedly, but whatever awaited her, she would meet it.
*
Victor was happy to find his comrades in the dining room (and surprised to find that Kerillian deigned to attend), refusing to allow any sheepishness show upon his face. He was in a damn good mood, considering the mess outside, and was not about to let anyone destroy it. Not even Sienna, who was looking far too smug for his liking. A server quickly brought over a steaming bowl of porridge, and Victor quickly inhaled it.
“So he finally emerges from the bedroom,” Sienna grinned. “We were wondering if you two were ever going to come out! And what did you do to that poor woman’s gown? She had to go out in her underthings!”
“I’ll have you know that her enduring toil treating the wounded last night had left her proper gown, the only gown she has left, I’ll have you know; too soiled for her for her to treat patients in.” Victor sent a piercing glare Sienna’s way. “Especially when she’s apparently going to deliver a baby.”
Sienna opened her mouth, then shut it. “Damn. Can’t do anything with that.” She tapped her chin. “And that undergown on her back is the only clothing she has left, isn’t it? It’s just going to get destroyed as soon as she walks into the town hall. She’ll have naught but her skin by the end of the day.” Sienna’s smirk returned. “Bet you’ll enjoy that.”
Victor ignored the jab. “Did the tailor escape damage?”
Sienna glanced over at Klaus. “I’ll ask him. He’s the one who knows everything. Walburga’s like a second mum to him, I’m sure he could have something sent here.”
Victor nodded. “Good. I’ll tell him to add it to my tab.”
“So what do we do now?” Bardin asked.
“Tell me what you found in the forest yesterday,” Victor asked.
When the spell had dropped, a massive beastman camp was revealed. A great battle ensued, but after several hours the Ubersreik Four (with the aid of their company of witch hunters) were able to cleanse every last Gor and Minotaur from the face of the Empire. At the center of this camp was a huge altar, upon which they found what was left of the unfortunate Axel Falkenrath. As Sienna burned the remnants of the heretical filth, Markus could hear Kirstin calling for help…
“…And then we joined you lot,” Markus finished. “What a mess.”
“Have to say,” Bardin added. “It was nice to get to a town before it’s razed for once!”
“It is indeed.” Victor smiled. “Well, I believe that we shall have to explore the tunnel to ensure that the threat has been vanquished. Beyond that…I suppose that you are all on your own time. Lohner is staying at the chapterhouse, I believe, so if you wish to seek other missions, he can most likely provide.”
“Wait, what?” Sienna’s eyebrows raised. “Done? What about you? Are you retiring?”
“Not quite,” Victor replied. “It seems I am here to stay, though.”
*
Clearing the debris from the former Falkenrath Manor took the better part of the morning. Once secured, the Ubersreik Five, along with a party of able-bodied witch hunters, were able to descend into the basement. The bunker full of jewels glittered in the blackened stone, the entire company marveling at the hoard.
“The contents of this chamber to be confiscated by the Order,” Victor announced, much to everyone’s dismay, including his own. He longed to scoop an armful into his sack to shower them upon Walburga’s supine form later on, but protocol was protocol.
Upon reaching the mouth of the cave, they discovered a particularly grisly scene. Dried blood and viscera coated the walls, limbs scattered, and discarded upon the dusty floor lay the head of Gilbert Falkenrath II.
“It seems both sons met a sticky end,” Victor observed. “Fair enough. One fewer execution.”
It seemed that the vast majority of the resident Skaven had been lost attacking the town the night before. They made short work of the ones left over, scoured the dens, found yet another breeder and (before Victor could prevent Sienna from doing so) broiled it and its slimy brood. Senden had been fairly lucky, it seemed that this burrow had not been nearly as organized or advanced as Clan Fester, southern den notwithstanding. They had found a few more barely-started doomwheels, but that seemed to be the extent of it. When Victor was satisfied that they had explored every crevice, destroyed every diabolical device, slain every pathetic ratman; the group followed the main tunnel through and emerged back into the late afternoon sun. The tunnel had led to a patch in the forest, unsurprisingly, the center of the beastman camp. Victor did a cursory sweep of the pyromancer-charred premises, and then the group wearily headed back to Senden.
The townspeople had not been idle in their absence. Oswald was personally organizing the town cleanup, designating various crews to haul away the ratman remains, the useless rubble, and search parties for the fallen folk. Already a great deal of progress had been made. The Skaven had been piled just outside of town, along with much of the rubble and timber. The market was already almost back to working order, and what was left of the bakery had been cleared to its foundations.
“Damn,” Sienna muttered. “That is a damn shame. I’m already missing those cinnamon biscuits.”
It seemed that the workers were winding down, but there was a buzz of energy permeating the square, despite their fatigued demeanors. Johann called to Victor from the threshold of the chapterhouse, who jogged over to the elder captain.
“How are you feeling, Sir?” Victor asked.
“Back to ‘Sir,’ are we?” Johann chuckled, leaning on his cane. “You know that is unnecessary now. I am as well as can be expected. Before I can release you to supper, I need to inform you of our plans tonight. It has been decided.”
*
The entire town of Senden, at least, the ones who could walk; filed out to the village limits when the clock sounded seven bells. The mood was at once solemn and angry, a simmer, a mutter carrying along the line. Victor watched the folk, one by one, striding and toddling and hobbling all; assemble around the massive heaps of Skaven and detritus. There were two recent additions to the giant mound, the reason for this impromptu gathering.
Normally these ceremonies were conducted in the town square, however, it seemed fitting to hold it here. Victor appreciated the economy of the arrangement. Gilbert and Gretchen Falkenrath were each strapped to thick beams in the midst of the devastation they had instigated, rotting rats and ruined buildings all around them. Gilbert faced his fate with a surprising stoicism, or perhaps it was simply exhausted resignation. Gretchen, on the other hand, screeched, cursed, tried to bargain; her raves met by the stony faces of a ravaged town. The grey wizards, after having fought alongside the residents of Senden, found it apt to allow them to enforce justice upon this rogue witch themselves, and Victor could just spy a few of them subtly fading in and out of view among the townsfolk. As the last rays of sunlight faded over the horizon, Johann stepped over and nodded to Victor, who approached the crowd, raising his hand for silence.
“We are here to witness the judgment upon these traitors to the Empire.” Victor’s sharp voice carried all along the ruined buildings and sloping hills of the edge of town. “Gilbert Falkenrath and Lady Gretchen von Biernbaum, you have been convicted of high treason, consorting with agents of Chaos, illegal sorcery, and…” Victor’s eye fell upon Walburga in the crowd. “Many other crimes and abuses of authority. Lady von Biernbaum…” Victor turned to face the now bedraggled Gretchen. “Have you anything to say for yourself?”
Gretchen let loose a string of obscenities, screeching at the top of her lungs until one of the grey wizards silenced her with a gesture.
“Gilbert Falkenrath,” Victor now addressed the erstwhile burgher. “Have you anything to say for yourself?”
“I deserve this fate and welcome it!” Gilbert exclaimed, gazing at the sky, perhaps, for forgiveness. “My only regret is that I have dragged my children into this terrible scheme.”
Victor had come close to pitying Gilbert in the interrogation room, but, after the destruction left in the wake of this pathetic man’s greed, the hunter felt only disgust. The mob grew costive at this response, and a few stones whizzed by Gilbert’s head.
“That is your only regret?” Victor sneered. “Fair enough. People of Senden! Witness the wages of sin before you, and keep with Sigmar’s doctrine! There is no victory for heresy, only grim death!”
Victor stepped away from the pyre, and nodded to Sienna. The bright wizard sent a fireball to set the mound aflame, and Senden watched as the engineers of its peril screamed and roasted along with the Skaven the Falkenraths had allowed into the town. Victor made his way over to Walburga, who watched, unblinking, her expression unreadable.
“Are you all right, Walburga?” Victor asked. “How do you feel?”
“They were always invincible titans to me,” Walburga said, her voice hollow. “But look how frail, how pitiful, how pathetic. It is so strange.”
“Come,” Victor took her trembling hand and squeezed it. “Let us get back to the inn. I have not eaten, and I’m guessing you haven’t either. It has been a very long day. Let us celebrate its end.”

Blue Sky Amazon Student Review by Kirstin V.
Hello, I am Kristin, I am in the Uk. I am fairly new to the Amazon world, I come from a hospitality background. I’ve recently sold my hospitality business and I worked in that trade for 20-odd years.
So I was looking for something where I didn’t have to work every hour under the sun. I wanted something with a much better work-life balance. I came across the Amazon opportunity on Facebook and it really appealed to me because I could choose my own hour's work from home, if I didn’t want to, and deal with all the stress that brings, or deal with customers, all day long.
So that’s what really appealed to me, At first, I thought I would be able to do it on my own, I thought I’d be able to find the information I needed to learn what I needed to learn, but the more I got into it, the more I realized that I needed some help and I needed some advice from someone that was doing it the way, that knew what they were talking about.
There are lots of gurus out there and experts, but I wanted to learn the right way and that’s what attracts me to Sophie’s course, She just seemed genuine, right from the off. And that I really liked the structure of the course, with the coaches and having one-on-one time with coaches and being part of a community where I could interact with other students so I wasn’t doing it all on my own.
And I’m really glad that I did choose Sophie’s course because I’ve only been selling for a couple of months, but I already know, the way my products are going, that I’ve done things the right way and that I’ve learned the right way using your methods that Sophie teachers.
My first product went a life a couple of months ago and three weeks ago, I launched another nine products, so I'm only just a few weeks into having all those products but I’m already selling between 10 and 20 units a day and that’s making about between 300 and 600 US dollars a day, and so it’s still early days,
but I’m really pleased with how it’s going, so far, one of the best bits for me is, while I put all the hard work in, I go to bed and my products sell while I'm asleep. So I wake up and check my account to see, to see how many products have sold, which is so different from my hospitality life.
And probably, the most important thing, for me, on a personal level is I’ve recently lost a very special family member and because I now work from home. the last couple of months, I’ve been able to spend caring for that family member and spending time and I got to be at the very end when it really mattered.
So sales, figures and numbers and everything are all wonderful, but at the end of the day, It’s time with loved ones that is the most precious, for me anyway. So I’m really grateful that I’ve been able to do that because had I still been in my old lfe in hospitality or most any other nine-to-five job.
I wouldn’t have been able to take that time, that precious time. So for anyone that’s considering doing Sophie’s course, just do it, you’ll learn so much, you’ll be so grateful, you gotta put the hard work in, but you have so much support around you, in an industry that is a little bit lonely, sometimes, just you and your computer screen.
I really don’t feel alone 'cause I have the one-on-one time with coaches and the community around you, you get to know the other students. And you can have as much interaction with them as you want to.
So it really is a great community with lotta support there if you need it. So just do it, you won’t regret it. Best of luck.

Bulletproof vests and gasoline masks: Journalists prep for Inauguration Day Newsrooms just like the LA Instances have distributed protecting gear and held security trainings to organize reporters for Inauguration Day. Protests and demonstrations across the ceremony in Washington, DC are typical, however after the riots on January 6, journalists are getting ready for one more violent outbreak. “I shortly noticed my position as an individual who needed to adapt,” Kelly informed CNN Enterprise. “My objective is to guard my employees, shield my reporters and guarantee that all people is taken care of.” In accordance with a bulletin obtained final week by CNN, the FBI has obtained info indicating “armed protests” are being deliberate in any respect 50 state capitols and the US Capitol in Washington within the days main as much as Biden’s inauguration. The Pentagon has licensed up 25,000 Nationwide Guard members for Inauguration Day. Within the days for the reason that storming of the Capitol, authorities and the media have unearthed particulars and pictures that paint an image of an assault that seems much more chilling and violent than what viewers noticed on dwell TV that day. Among the many pictures which have surfaced within the ensuing days contains some that present the mob attacking journalists who have been there. At the least 9 journalists have been bodily assaulted, a minimum of 5 journalists have been arrested and a minimum of 4 had gear broken whereas protecting the revolt, US Press Freedom Tracker managing editor Kirstin McCudden informed Poynter. Whereas reporting contained in the Capitol on January 6, LA Instances Congressional reporter Sarah Wire was handed an evacuation hood and obtained directions from Rep. Ruben Gallego on easy methods to use it. Wire might be rather more ready for violence at Wednesday’s inauguration: The LA Instances despatched her a bulletproof vest, helmet, goggles and a gasoline masks — all of which she’s by no means worn on the sphere earlier than. Protecting the inauguration is usually “very predictable,” mentioned Tracy Grant, a 27-year veteran of The Washington Submit, the place she serves as a managing editor. As outlined by the US Structure, the transition occurs at midday on January 20. However different particulars across the inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have been unsure. “All the issues which can be very normed and ceremonial have been up within the air,” Grant mentioned. “Nothing about this has been predictable, and so we’re ready for issues to vary proper up till the final second.” The pandemic had already created hurdles to reporting — and reporters, producers and digicam operators on the bottom will proceed to face these challenges and anxieties on Inauguration Day. BuzzFeed Information politics reporter Paul McLeod informed CNN Enterprise final week that he was feeling “a bit relieved” forward of the inauguration. That is as a result of the Covid-19 take a look at he took after protecting the occasions of January 6 — the place many rioters have been maskless — got here again detrimental. Jarrad Henderson, senior multimedia producer at USA Immediately who’s Black, mentioned he was feeling “a little bit anxious” concerning the inauguration. “I do not know if I am a goal as a Black photojournalist, Black journalist interval throughout this time,” Henderson mentioned. “It is very exhausting. There’s some threats which can be being made. I can’t unsee ‘Homicide the Media’ that was etched into the facet of the Capitol doorways final week.” Media organizations have just lately despatched out ideas and steerage for journalists within the area. The Radio Tv Digital Information Affiliation (RTDNA) launched a journalist coaching and useful resource middle final week about reporting “ethically and safely” throughout civil unrest. “That is essentially the most perilous time for journalists within the area within the fashionable historical past of the US,” RTDNA Government Director Dan Shelley informed CNN’s Brian Stelter on “Dependable Sources” Sunday. “That is actually pervasive, and it isn’t simply the US Capitol. It isn’t simply state capitals. It is in communities giant and small, in all 50 states.” Grant mentioned that every one reporters protecting Inauguration Day for the Submit will get a refresher on a coaching program that teaches them easy methods to make selections in contentious conditions. Submit journalists even have obtained protecting gear. Gannett (GCI), the biggest US newspaper conglomerate which publishes USA Immediately, The Detroit Free Press, The Arizona Republic and tons of of different native papers, has hosted a number of trainings and panels throughout the previous week. Greater than 3,000 Gannett journalists listened to a panel final Wednesday the place Henderson and others who have been on the Capitol and had lined different protests shared their experience. Amalie Nash, senior vp of native information at USA Immediately Community, recalled employees members asking, “If I’ve lengthy hair, ought to I take into consideration placing it up as a result of it may make me a goal and I might be dragged by my hair?”; “What’s one of the best ways to file if my cellphone has gone down?”; “What’s one of the best ways to get out of a scenario if it turns risky?” McLeod of BuzzFeed Information mentioned he might be sporting trainers on Inauguration Day alongside a bulletproof vest and a backpack storing a helmet, a respirator masks and goggles. He had worn a few of these gadgets on January 6. For Inauguration Day, McLeod mentioned he plans to not put on something that might establish him as a member of the press. One putting distinction he seen between Trump rallies and the revolt was the aggression from the group. “For all the pageantry and theater of booing the media, if you go as much as speak to individuals afterward, in my expertise, they’d really been fairly well mannered,” McLeod mentioned about protecting Trump rallies. “I recognized myself as a reporter to at least one particular person [on the 6th] who began screaming at me and making an attempt to scream at different individuals round that I used to be a reporter and calling every kind of consideration to me. I received out of there, and clearly, stopped figuring out myself as a reporter to anybody.” Newsrooms are having journalists work in groups in order that nobody is out on the sphere alone. Some are hiring safety, too. Peter Gorenstein, chief content material officer at Cheddar, informed Digiday his two reporters on the bottom that day can have a safety guard. Even with the potential for violence, journalists say they’ve an obligation to be there. “That is dangerous to exit, however it’s extra dangerous to not exit. It is extra dangerous to let misinformation unfold,” Nicole Carroll, editor in chief of USA Immediately, informed Stelter on “Dependable Sources” Sunday. “So we’re ready and we’re cautious and we’ll do our jobs.” Henderson, the USA Immediately producer, echoed Carroll’s sentiment on the position and accountability of media to doc historical past. “I simply applaud all people who’s going out, who’s ready, who’s already gone via this, who, regardless of their very own private {and professional} trauma, are nonetheless going out to doc this historical past,” Henderson mentioned. Photo
It was such a lovely week. I am looking forward to a few more days off!
On Monday, I met Steve and Kirstin for lunch and was able to meet her son, Jonathan, for the first time. Instead of a picture of Jonathan, I have a photo of a very delicious salad I ate. Except I was hungry two hours later. It's all gravy, it was so good and I got some fruit and veggies in!!!
Work was fairly uneventful, as most people took off, and Tim and I finished wrapping gifts before I went to bed.
I was up my normal time Tuesday, I met Rebuck and Bob for a run and it was so good! My legs felt smooth and I was able to hold sub-9s, including a few 8:30s! It was the best run in quite some time. After that, I went to the doctor's for my glucose test and ultrasound. I don't have the results of the test, but I really didn't think the drink was that bad, I finished it in less than a minute. Our ultrasound looked good! Little dude is growing healthy and my placenta has moved, so it's no longer a problem - that's such a relief. It's always cool to see him on the screen.
Post-appointment, I had to run an errand for my dad and then I finished getting everything together and Tim and I hit the road before 1, and thankfully, didn't hit much traffic. We got to my parents around 2:30 and relaxed a bit before going to church, where we saw much of my family.
Post-church, we did pictures on the square, per usual and then had dinner at my parents. I had pizza, while everyone else had steak and other fancy items. There were a few Christmas Eve parties we were invited to, but I opted to stay home and go to bed, as did Tim and my mom. To be fair, they made it later than I did!
I was up early on Christmas, I took Miles out and went for a 3-mile run that was just OK. My dang calves hurt SO bad. I even asked the doctor about it, and he said it could be circulation or just the extra weight. Sigh.
Post-run, we all opened presents at my parents', which was nice. My mom always says she is not getting us anything much and we end up with tons of gifts. Tim, baby and I got matching slippers, which are so cute!
After relaxing for a bit, we packed up and headed to my uncle's to exchange with the extended family and have breakfast. Patrick was very happy to get plastic straws, hotel shampoo and quarters for the casino. I was very happy to get a Tracksmith gift card.
Then, my mom, Tim and I went for our annual run. It was just OK, my legs still didn't feel great, but I did my best. At least we looked cute!
After lunch, we went to Tim's aunt's house to see some of his family. We got a Tottenham onesie, so Tim was VERY excited about that. However, there was nothing I could eat there except a random fruit platter and some cheese, so I was getting a little cranky! Fortunately, my mom made me some mashed potatoes, and I had those when we got back to my parents'. I think Miles missed us while we were gone. Everyone kept commenting on how good he is, even the notorious dog haters.
My parents' housed a lively crew, as always. But I was the first one to call it a night, especially after Patrick told me I "sure get around" after he felt baby kicking. Haha.
My legs felt like trash on Thursday. I walked Miles, but it was more like a waddle. I had planned to run, but I just didn't think it was a good idea because of how bad my legs felt. So, I got changed and went to the Y and did 30 minutes on the elliptical, then I lifted (squats, strict press and bench) and then did another 15 on the elliptical. I had planned to do another 15, but I had to get home. We went to Tim's mom's house to see everyone. We spent a few hours there with the twins and Brynn and we opened lots and lots of presents.
We went back to my parents after that, I had to eat something besides grapes and cheese and then we hit the road around 3:45, and got home pretty easily. I took Miles for a longer walk and then ate a bowl of Cheerios after unpacking and putting all the gifts away. I was wiped after all the social interaction and traveling and heavy food.
Today, I met Rebuck and it was not a very good run. My legs hurt and I was just struggling. I think I've just been sitting way too much lately - I'm not used to it! Regardless, I got the miles in and I just need to get 22 more to break 3,000 for the year. I wish running felt easier.

Why Do Men Report Having More Sex Partners Than Women?
One of the most reliable findings across studies of human sexual behavior is that heterosexual men report substantially more lifetime sexual partners on average compared to heterosexual women. In theory, the numbers reported by straight men and women should be fairly similar, right? However, we often see guys reporting partner counts that are twice as high as that of women. So why is that? How do we explain this gender difference?
A new study published in the Journal of Sex Research offers some valuable insight. Using data from a nationally representative sex study conducted in Britain, researchers performed a thorough analysis of the gender gap in partner counts (note that, in this particular survey, men reported 14 partners on average compared to 7 for women). In a nutshell, what they found was that men's greater number of reported partners could be largely explained by three factors:
(1) A small number of men appeared to be skewing the average and exaggerating the overall gender difference by reporting far higher partner counts than everyone else. Specifically, men in the 99th percentile reported an average of 110 partners (versus 50 partners for women). When researchers capped partner counts at the 99th percentile, this reduced the gender gap from 7 to 5.5.
(2) Men and women tended to use different counting strategies. Specifically, men were more likely to estimate or ballpark their number of partners, whereas women were more likely to go through and actually count them. When researchers took reporting strategy into account, this reduced the gender gap further, from 5.5 to 3.2.
(3) Men and women expressed different sexual attitudes, with women being more conservative in their views on casual sex and non-monogamy. Statistically adjusting for sexual attitudes reduced the gender gap even further to 2.6 partners.
In total, 63% of the disparity in overall number of partners reported by men and women was explained by the three factors above. These findings are important not just for helping us to better understand why the gender gap exists, but also because they have implications for getting more accurate sex survey results in the future. For example, researchers may be well served by encouraging participants to count rather than estimate the number of partners they've had.
To learn more about this research, check out the short video below in which one of the study's authors, Dr. Kirstin Mitchell, describes what they did and what they found.
