JENNIKA AND VENUS??? 👁️👁️

do you have established personalities? Roles? Special skills? Weirdly specific headcanons?

YESSSSSS KIRBY, JENNIKA, AND VENUS LORE!!!

Jennika and Venus are both older mutants in the story (think mid twenties to early thirties) and act as Kirby's right and left hand men. Women. You know.

They were mutated decades before the turtles and were seen as successful prototypes before escaping the labratory. The scientists that mutated all 7 of the turtles were trying to replicate mutagen from Dimension X, with the older three's mutagens being less stable than the Turtles'.

Venus is the youngest of the trio, and is a sea turtle hybrid. She doesn't really have defined fingers like the rest of the turtles, but she's still just as deadly.

Her personality is outwardly a lot more bubbly, but she's surprisingly the most pessimistic of the trio. She uses a fan, and taught herself out to maneuver it even with her limitations (coming from someone who was taught how to fight with a fan lol)

Her fighting style is a mix of more traditional martial arts, and modern styles.

Jennika's species is still up in the air, but I imagine her being a tortoise. To oppose Venus' aquatic species and all that.

Still deciding her weapon. 😔 She definitely sticks to more traditional fighting styles, but mixes them around to suit her needs.

While she is more blunt and cold than Venus, she's the optimist of the trio. She's the one who's most often looking at the bright side of things, and who wants to trust people.

The Turtles meet this trio by accident, stumbling upon an underground society of mutants and outcasts. One that exposes the truly dark and extensive history of the scientists that experimented and mutated all of them.

Jennika very quickly adopts a big sister persona around the boys, while Venus ends up casting herself as "an awkward babysitter" for a good while. They're both meant to act as opposing mindsets to eachother, Kirby, and the turtles. Hehe

I wouldn't be suprised if it was cut for fear of copyright infringement like how Toss Tortoise was erased from Kirby canon due to resembling that one mascot too much.

Development files for Super Mario World contain an unused "Flower Toad" character (left), which based on the location of its data, appears to have been planned as a friendly NPC that Mario could have talked to.

The character has an extremely close resemblance to Hanazukin-chan, the mascot of Expo '90, an international gardening expo taking place in Osaka in 1990. As the expo would have been going on at the time of the game's development, it is nearly certain that the character was intended to be a reference to it.

Interestingly, 33 years later, Super Mario Bros. Wonder introduced the Poplin species, which are a different take on the same "Flower Toad" concept, also being a Toad-like species with flower heads.
