King Baldwin IV, the Leper King

This was a lot of fun to work on. Originally I was going to draw him on a dark grey or brownish horse but then made it a dappled grey horse. The composition was originally going to be a lot lighter, taking place during the day time. However, as I progressed. I made the decision to make it a battle scene during a vibrant sunset.

This was a huge accomplishment. It was not long ago that I would've never even dreamed to draw a knight on a rearing horse portrait. But here we are.

Today, on the fourth Sunday of Lent we celebrate the Venerable John, Abbot of Sinai and author of the Ladder of Divine Ascent (or the Climacus).
