Disney Branded Television Orders "Vampirina" Live-Action Series As Part Of Ayo Davis Strategy To Refresh Disney's Multi-Cam Sitcoms
Today, Disney Branded Television announced series greenlights for “How We Became the Biggest Band in the World” and “Vampirina” (both working titles), two music-driven, live-action comedies slated to premiere next year on Disney Channel and Disney+ as a way to refresh Disney Branded Television's multi-cam sitcoms who started with Wizards Beyond Waverly Place and Alice In The Palace.
Vampirina which is inspired on Disney Junior's series of the same name becomes the first Disney Jr. property to be getting a live action remake
“Vampirina” (Working Title) “Vampirina” (working title) follows a tween vampire girl who leaves the safety of Transylvania to attend a performing arts boarding school. Living amongst humans for the first time, she pursues her passion for music while keeping her vampire secret, something that’s made more challenging when her overprotective father charges an overzealous ghost to live with her at the school. The series is based on the books written by Anne Marie Pace and illustrated by LeUyen Pham, and inspired by the Disney Jr. animated series “Vampirina” from Chris Nee. The series stars newcomer Kenzi Richardson as Vee, Jiwon Lee (“Rise Up, Sing Out”) as Sophie, Shaun Dixon (“The Neighborhood”) as Elijah, Milo Maharlika (“Les Miserables” Broadway National Tour) as Demi and newcomer Faith Hedley as Britney. Randi Barnes serves as showrunner and executive producer. Tim Federle and Bronwyn North-Reist are executive producers. Kimberly McCullough directed and executive produced the pilot.
“‘How We Became the Biggest Band in the World’ and ‘Vampirina’ are two standout additions to Disney Channel’s comedy slate,” said Ayo Davis, president, Disney Branded Television. “Both new series are full of all the elements we know our young audiences love: relatable, aspirational characters, upbeat music and plenty of laughter, friendship and heart.”

Broadway Divas Tournament: Round 1C
Multi-hyphenate LaChanze (1961) won her first Tony as Celie in The Color Purple (2006) and is known for her fantastic work in shows like Once On This Island (1990), Summer: The Donna Summer Musical (2018), and Trouble in Mind (2021). She is the only Diva to have two Tony Awards for producing, having won both of them last year, one for Kimberly Akimbo and the other for Topdog/Underdog. This season, she has produced Here Lies Love and Jaja's African Hair Braiding, and is co-producing The Outsiders.
Beloved character actress Ann Harada (1964) has a lengthy stage career with a propensity for stealing the show and audience's hearts. She's best known for playing Christmas Eve in Avenue Q (2003), and fairytales feature prominently on her resume with shows like Cinderella (2013), Fairycakes (2021), and Into the Woods (2022). She will appear off-Broadway this spring in Atlantic Theatre Company's The Welkin.
PROPAGANDA AND MEDIA UNDER CUT: ALL POLLS HERE
youtube
"Not only is she immensely talented onstage, but in her inaugural debut as a producer she won two Tonys in the same damn year. She won Best Musical for my beloved Kimberly Akimbo, and Best Play Revival for Topdog/Underdog, a fucking riveting show. And now she's got three more this season AND she's making her directorial debut with an off-Broadway show. Diva, Icon, That Bitch."
youtube
"You know, I see Ann Harada at shows all over the city all the time, in the cheap seats, unbothered, eternally cheerful. She's always happy to be there enjoying the art, and I like that. She had the audiences screaming in Dear World with her imaginary dog who was absolutely real and a vital part of the plot. The schtick she did got some of the most raucous applause of the night."

I don't know why I am suddenly addicted to these two (Trini and Kimberly from the Power Rangers Reboot Movie), but I am. And, as with everything I end up being obsessed with, I decided to write something about it.
This is just something from the top of my head. One-shot, but maybe will turn into a multi-chapter fanfic. Who knows. I'll be cross-posting it on AO3 as well (when I get home), anyways, Title of this fic is "Eyes Open (Trini's Version) and here it goes:
As the days after defeating Rita Repulsa passed in Angel Grove, Trini found herself constantly wrestling with her emotions. The peace that had settled over the city allowed her the time to truly delve into her thoughts and reflect on everything that has happened so far—from moving to Angel Grove, being caught in and surviving an explosion and later finding her Yellow Power Coin, surviving a car crash unscathed, forcefully being thrown over a cliff and down an underground pool that is hiding a spaceship and learning she was chosen to be one of the Power Rangers, training, fighting an alien menace hellbent on destruction and revenge, and everything in between. Yet, no matter from which angle she reminisced, her thoughts always seemed to circle back to one Kimberly Ann Hart. The Pink Ranger had effortlessly become a core part of Trini's life, and it both thrilled and terrified her. One afternoon, Trini sat in her room. There was no training to be had, no school-related activity to be done, no family responsibilities to take care of. It was just an afternoon all for herself with the sun casting a warm glow through the window. She held a photo of the Power Rangers, the team smiling brightly at the camera, that was taken during their celebratory campfire after defeating Rita. Her gaze lingered on Kimberly, her heart swelling with a mix of fondness and longing that shouldn't have caught her by surprise but did. The realization hit her like a ton of bricks—she was in love with her best friend. The fear that gripped Trini was suffocating. She feared ruining the delicate balance of their friendship, of losing the closeness they had developed. And, most of all, she feared Kimberly not feeling or swinging the same way; that she was just going to make a fool of herself if she confessed. The thought of rejection and loss made her stomach churn with anxiety. The "what ifs"—the consequence of being rejected, the fear of being laughed at, of what it could do to them, of being alone again—plagued her and made her feel like she was one step away from a full blown panic attack. But she knew something has got to give—was bound to give—and knew she couldn't keep this to herself for much longer. Trini knew that the weight of her unspoken feelings would only continue to grow until it consumed her entirely; that it would spring forth unbidden one time without much of her control nor foresight, like a volcanic eruption that is both catastrophic and mesmerizing to watch; a force of uncontrollable nature. It was a terrifying prospect, and not one that was new to her. After all, it was one of the reasons—many, her mother would say—as to why she had been forced to move to Angel Grove in the first place, upending her life once again. And even though she had sworn off ever feeling this way again, here she was, mind overtaken by thoughts of a girl. Her mom would definitely freak more than her coming to that realization if she finds out. But, the thing about almost dying and of thinking about a future that would force them to be heroes once again should anyone threaten the peace they had fought to achieve had Trini realizing yet another thing: that life was, simply, too short to not dare and dream and want and hope and love. Not long after that thought struck her did her phone pinged with a notification. She placed the photo she was holding down and replaced it with her phone that she took from her bedside table where she had left it to charge. Kim's name, and small profile photo, greeted her along with the message she sent. It was just a single line of text, but it was enough to make the cogs in her mind run on overtime.
"Hey Trini, can we talk? It's important," the message read.
Trini wonders if this was a sign from the universe. She wonders if it was a good sign or a bad omen. Was the universe pushing her to do it?
Taking a deep breath, she made a decision then. She would tell Kimberly how she felt, regardless of the outcome or what that "something important" Kim wanted to talk to her about was. She just hoped—prayed, really, to any god that might be listening—that it won't wreck their friendship. She doesn't want to be dramatic—she never was—but she honestly felt she wouldn't be able to take if it does. She would rather be stuck in a crazy time loop fighting Rita again and again by herself than lose the one thing in her life that made everything better. "I'll be there in a few," she texted back. That evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, Trini found herself standing outside Kimberly's house, looking up at her bedroom window. She took a moment to gather her courage before landing on the flat abutment near Kim's dormer window. Another deep intake of breath and she was knocking on the pane of her best friend's window. When Kimberly opened it with a smile gracing her lips, Trini felt her resolve falter for a moment. "Hey, Trini," Kimberly greeted, her brown eyes a mixture of emotions that played too fast for the shorter girl to grasp. "I'm glad you came." Trini took a deep breath, her heart pounding in her chest. "Well, you said it was important. And I...I also have something important I wanted to tell you. Don't think it could wait either." Kimberly's smile faded for a moment. It made Trini feel guilt at being the cause of it. She stepped aside and invited Trini over the window saying, "Well then, come in." As they settled in Kimberly's room, Trini felt the weight of her confession pressing down on her. Kim quirked another smile that was bordering on playful, "So...should you go first, or should I?"
Trini knew that if she didn't go first, she would lose all resolve she had mustered and so she willed herself to volunteer to speak first. Whether Kim was surprised by that or not, she didn't show it. Her face was a mask of smile that Trini chose to interpret as encouraging.
She took another deep breath—which did nothing to calm the loud beating of her heart and the pounding in her ears—and met Kimberly's gaze, her voice steady but filled with vulnerability.
"Kim, I...There is something I've been struggling to admit to myself for a while now." She paused, her hands trembling slightly before she balled them into a fist. "And, I know I'm not one to mince words or say too much, so I'm just going to go ahead and just say it." "Okay...?" there was a hint of confusion now on the taller girl's face despite her lingering smile. "Out with it then." "I... I think I'm in love with you."

inspired by : kim possible
Added inspo! Katara (Avatar: The Last Airbender) Enola Holmes, Asuna (Sword Art Online) Anthony Lockwood (Lockwood & Co.) more coming soon…
Kimberly Ann Possible (Abigail Cowen)
5/4/2002. Taurus.
She/Her
Bisexual
Lawful good
Gryffindor
past !!
Kimberly Ann Possible never thought a summer gig babysitting would lead her into the world of moonlight crime fighting.
At first, she thought it was a joke. The emails labeled "Help Wanted" asking for assistance with all sorts of thefts and major crimes.
And so it began. Cheerleader and student by day, superhero by night.
These supervillians were wacky, always stealing the strangest things and going by goofy nicknames.
The Big Case, as it would become known to Kim and Ron, was a tricky one. Connecting the dots on a series of faulty projects lead them to the desk of one Dr. Drew Drakken.
They foiled his plans, sending him off to jail in handcuffs, but the screams of rage haunted Kim for years.
"I'll be back Kim Possible! You'll be sorry when I get my hands on you!"
Needless to say, KP spent the rest of high school looking over her shoulder for any glimpse of Drakken or his associates.
Graduation was not a happy affair for her, because with it, came the release date of Dr. Drakken.
Enrolling in college, Kim realized that she needed to seriously decide what she was doing with her future.
You can't put moonlighting vigilante on your tax return!
So that's where college came in, and everything was going smooth until the morning she woke up in Evermore.
Waking up in Evermore was a shake-up that Kim never expected.
While she misses her family, it feels good to be independent for the first time in her life. No more Kimmie cub, no more Cheer Captain, just Ms. Kim Possible, Detective.
So here she is, investigating the hits on her new website, making new friends, and keeping her eyes peeled for Dr. Drakken.
present !!
Settling into Evermore so far has looked like opening up Boo-Yah Investigations (homage to one Ron Stoppable), fostering a friendship with Molly Davis (who knew having a girl bestie would be so great?!) and getting some kissing practice with Swizz Melarkey (from the dunk tank, to scaredy cat, to misletoe kisses and beyond).
The missing persons incident fanned the flames smoldering in Kim's heart of investigation and mystery and have jolted her back into action trying to unravel the secrets of Evermore.
future !!
to be updated...

Galen Leslie Slatter
October 17, 1948 - September 13, 2024
Galen Leslie Slatter, a 75-year-old resident of Twin Falls, passed away, peacefully, with his daughter and son-in-law by his side, Friday, September 13, 2024, at 3:00pm in Boise, Idaho.
Galen was born October 17, 1948, in Twin Falls, Idaho, the son of Leslie J. Slatter and Larene Helen (Taylor) Slatter. He attended the Filer school system, but did not graduate. He later got his GED while in the Army and went on to pursue an auto-mechanics AAS at the College of Southern Idaho; graduating on May 9, 1971. He further pursued a Recreational Vehicle Mechanics AAS, at the same college; graduating May 12, 1978.
After getting drafted, Galen served in the Army, during the Vietnam Conflict; from December/1967 to August/1969. He was stationed at Camp Khon Kaen, a small US Army outpost in northern Thailand, tasked with providing support services for the warfront in neighboring Vietnam. Galen later joined the Air Force National Guard reserves, which gave him the opportunity to travel to Japan and Norway.
Galen married Mary Ann Dutt on August 14, 1970 in Filer, Idaho. Together, they had one daughter, Maureen, and later divorced. During the late 1970s-early 1980s, Galen had a long-term relationship with Marie Jordan, of Filer; becoming the father figure to her three girls, Michelle, Diane and Jennifer, loving them unconditionally as if they were his own. While Galen and Marie didn’t have children together and later separated as a couple, they remained friends for life.
Galen had a very big heart. He always wanted to make sure that people enjoyed their lives as often as possible. He loved life and being busy; be it working, playing racquetball or dancing, which he loved the most. For many years, Galen was a member of the Magic Valley Square Dancers. He also taught Line, Square and Round Dance in several different venues in Twin Falls. He also taught Fit and Fall Fitness Proof classes at the Twin Falls Senior Center and was a volunteer driver for the DVA van.
In 1995, Galen became father-in-law to Márcio Padilha, a young man from Brazil. The two would come to develop one of the strongest imaginable bonds; eventually dropping the “in-law” and becoming just father and son to each other. Márcio was instrumental in assuring that Galen’s well-being and wishes were upheld up to the very last minute. Galen travelled to Brazil with Márcio and Maureen a few times. Despite the language barrier, Galen became truly loved and appreciated by Márcio’s family and friends. With his kids, Galen also traveled to Mexico, Argentina and Uruguay.
Galen is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Maureen Slatter Padilha and Márcio Padilha, of Twin Falls; his sister Christine (Jim) Curry of Shoshone, ID; his former wife Mary Fraley, of Twin Falls, ID; his step-daughters Michelle (Paul) Whelan of Sacramento, CA; Diane (Anthony) Williams of Meridian, ID; Jennifer (Trent) Service of Jerome, ID; cousin Ricky Troxell and his friend Donna James, both of Twin Falls, ID and Andrew and Amila Birkey, of Twin Falls, ID; who were, in Galen’s heart, his grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Steven R. Slatter.
As per Galen’s wishes, his life will be celebrated with a dance held in his honor; starting at 7:00pm on October 17, 2024 at XrossWay Life Church; located at 400 Irene St., Kimberly, ID 83341.

"In The Cards" Podcast Explores Luck, Destiny, & Born Losers
In 1959, there was a TV show on CBS called Mr. Lucky. The show followed the exploits of a man who ran a floating casino gambling operation. Luck and gambling have always been inexorably linked. Somehow, people are characterized as either lucky -- and blessed with good fortune -- or unlucky, in which case, misfortune is their constant companion.
In superhero movies, that concept is identified as "destiny." In these films and in their accompanying comic books, these superheroes have a predetermined path that they should or must follow. In essence, their destiny.
A new podcast is out now that asks similar questions about fate, destiny, and the fluidity of our fortunes.
Next Chapter Podcasts is releasing a brand-new show, In The Cards. It’s an existential romantic comedy about “a born loser” who takes on fate and changes his destiny in order to win the heart of his tarot card reader.
In the show, born loser Gil Garson takes on the universe when a psychic reveals he's been dealt a bad hand by fate.
Listen to the trailer for In The Cards here. This podcast has been "lucky" to have such big names associated with the show. After all, it's an independent production, not one of those budget-bloated Spotify shows with stars sprinkled throughout the narrative.
Next Chapter Podcasts (www.ncpodcasts.com) is an independent podcast production studio dedicated to original, authentic storytelling. It's a team of producers and sound designers, engineers, and artists with unique experience in podcast production from concept to creation. In effect, they know what they're doing.
In the show, actor Connor Ratliff leads the ensemble, marking his return to audio on the heels of his wildly successful and multiple award-winning podcast series, Dead Eyes.
Chukwudi Iwuji (Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy), Tony Award nominee Steven Boyer (Hand to God, Kimberly Akimbo), Jamie Ann Romero (The Play That Goes Wrong), and Laila Robins (The Walking Dead) round out the cast. The series is written and directed by Kevin Henderson (Raising Hope, Avatar: The Way of Water).
As American writer Louisa May Alcott (Little Women) once intoned, "Some people seemed to get all sunshine, and some all shadow."The cast of In The Cards

United Front and Back
A lack of internal criticism sadly isn’t as popular as giving up on printing money. You never hear liberals condemn any of their own, whether it be failed policies or shady allies. It’s the only discipline displayed. I wish talking points fans could be as fervent while running a corporation, as they could create things customers want enough to buy. Practitioners might be able to run a commercial enterprise if they could balance a payroll the way they ensure creepy unanimity.
Make sure you’re on a side willing to tell dirtbags ostensibly on their side to get lost. Grudgingly accept their contempt for increasingly unfathomable debt without pretending they’re delightful individuals.
The naturally and delightfully suspicious already loathe politicians on principle. They hold office, after all. Foes of compliance scowl at candidates reluctantly backed as the less worse option should get extra scrutiny for verification. The elected can claim to be undermining the system from the inside. But they’re still collecting paychecks, which makes their claims of sabotage worth scrutinizing.
Being loathed for the wrong reasons is the abnormal normal from Joe Biden’s defenders who can’t understand why everyone seems so bummed. Woke purveyors are calmly conditioned to treat anyone not on their team as minions of Hell’s supervisor paired with wannabe residents of Germany at its naughtiest. Hating everyone and everything else connected to thinking differently is how to spread love. Issuing welts to the other dodgeball team during gym class is school lesson that sticks. Sports are icky savage meritocracies.
Democrats don’t grasp what to criticize just to be consistent. Venomous seething furthers their type of goals. Focusing on their opinions of individual personalities instead of ideas is a natural outcome in its way. Mocking Scott Baio’s post-Charles in Charge career is easier than explaining why your money is better spent by Biden.
It’s always disappointing when Republicans halfheartedly copy whatever Democrats endorse lustily, from unfathomable spending and dole pittances to a refusal to criticize anyone tangentially affiliated. Renounce from within instead of remaining partners with those who aren't. Trumpology lieutenants show how much they loathe the other faction by acting as stringently. Sean Hannity’s heart remains broken, while Kimberly Guilfoyle remedied that problem by marrying into her political dream. All-time sellout Ann Coulter is undefeated in a way.
Some representatives who have backed things I back still shouldn’t be standing in for unfortunate districts. I would change subway cars if Marjorie Taylor Greene started reading her tweets in mine. And I wish I could get a restraining order against Matt Gaetz just in case. Meanwhile, George Santos showed Jon Lovitz predicted the future.
The all-time example won’t go away. A longtime Democrat who often acted as such provides equivalence. Donald Trump leads a dwindling yet annoying faction that claims to adhere to the rulebook. But nobody ever played his board game. It’s easy for principled members of his ostensible party to oppose a comeback worse than Subway rehiring Jared because he’s an all-time dirtbag who dreams of again using federal power like a strongman to compensate for not being a strong man.
Persistent fans of the area cast in darkness by the Iron Curtain get deserved heroes. A more objective analyst might want to point out that, say, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was the sort of bartender who’d complain when she finally got around to serving you a rum and Coke made with vodka and orange juice, Bernie Sanders likes the wrong directional Korea, or Rambo isn’t Richard Blumenthal’s life story any more than Elizabeth Warren tweets from a longhouse. Lunatic ravers create a quandary when you need their votes.
The concepts are their problem. Liberals should really be decrying their ideology, what with the way it punishes people for earning and behaving. There may be kinder ways of reaching equality than making everyone poor. At least having no money distracts from international chaos spurred by presuming America makes everyone hate us by being mean.
The most zealous fans never criticize their own team. I didn’t say cheering was healthy. Rabid followers flaunt unity in the wrong way. Noticing who’s getting a little Khmer Rouge-y or taking corruption beyond typical cartoonish levels might prevent implementing coerced joy. Dissent ruins collective dreams. They may not be yours, but personal identity is presently out of vogue. Enthusiastic enrollees are not big into deviating from unity.
Defending everyone wearing the same insignia is a byproduct of commitment to delusion. We cope with a rather zealous show side who feels they’re saving kids from being hunted by bloodthirsty NRA executives, the poor from being dumped out of wheelchairs into snowbanks by heartless health care executives, and the planet itself from greedy capitalists who are in favor of a climate-controlled civilization. The occasional fundamental fib or personal phoniness means nothing relative to the true cause.
The cultish quality of the hive’s beliefs conforms to communal identity. Our leviathan’s lovers are not interested in individual achievements, what with punishing success, wishing guns could be prosecuted for crimes, and scoffing at rights confiscated in order to not stop a virus. The most ardent adherents maintain government can cure all ills, including medical ones. I double-checked and they’re referring to this government. Don’t laugh. Actually, go ahead.
It’s natural in a sick way to conclude politicians who want to impose sweet order must be legends. Deranged believers don’t distance themselves from purveyors of glorious mandatory cooperation. Policing one’s own is too reminiscent of law enforcement for Democrats to embrace.
