It started with Pam and Jiggs (Gab Lagman) taking pictures together at an awards night. Jiggs won most of the awards; however, during his interview,…

PLDT Home’s new Mother’s Day video reminds you that you’re not alone
Raising a child is no easy feat. What more can be challenging for couples when their relationship issues get in the way of parenting? Whether in a solo or co-parenting situation, moms would naturally take the huge responsibility of ensuring their child’s welfare. They are innately independent, strong, and reliable. But when raising a child, the strongest moms know they need a reliable support…

meta/thoughts on BCS
Oh, man. I've never posted meta, or just thoughts on shows before, but I'm trying to give myself permission to be as cringe as I want and to ramble on the internet about the fictional things that I think way too much about. So here goes, my first meta post!
I just rewatched BCS S5E3 "The Guy For This" (let's be real: mostly for thirsty reasons, because I wanted to see Lalo and Nacho looking pretty in the garage scene with Saul) and Goddamn, it just smacked me in the face and reminded me what a pivotal episode it is in so many ways.
One of the many recurring themes that I love to see explored so well in both Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul is the many ways that people deal with (or don't) the consequences of their actions, and this episode is just chock full of that, as well as setting up the first steps down the "bad choice road" or the road ahead for so many characters.
In that garage, Saul really steps into Saul as we know him in Breaking Bad. By taking Lalo's money (even if under duress) he's taking the first step into leaving Jimmy behind and becoming the *criminal lawyer* we all love/love to hate. Jimmy's pattern of avoiding the consequences of his actions or uncomfortable emotions like the guilt over Chuck's disgrace and death is running away: by escaping into his scams, and by literally running away from himself, choosing a new identity--he's not Jimmy anymore; he's Saul, so he doesn't have to lug around Jimmy's baggage. And even though he tries to backtrack from this first step onto the bad choice road leading to him becoming "un amigo del cartel", when he tries to suggest that Lalo find another lawyer, it's too late. As Nacho tells him, "When you're in, you're in."
And Nacho would know! Speaking of running away, Nacho has been trying to evade or escape his problems for so long: first by setting up Tuco to avoid having his side hustle with Pryce discovered, and in this episode, trying to convince his Papa to run away with him to Canada. The scene where Manuel confronts Nacho at his house never fails to break my heart. Nacho is so desperate for Manuel to escape with him to a new, safe life, and Manuel is so adamant that Nacho face up to the consequences of his choices. Which ultimately, he has no choice but to do. He has to confront what he's done and give himself up to save his Papa's life, just like Manuel encouraged him to do so long ago. But by giving up his life rather than turning himself in to the police. It's so damn tragic.
And then there's Kim. She's always running away from the poverty and instability of her past by so doggedly pursuing success as a lawyer. I love how this episode highlights her increasing dissatisfaction with Mesa Verde and her yearning to pursue more meaningful pro-bono work so she can use the law to help people like the little, powerless girl she used to be. The confrontation between her and Mr. Acker is stellar. Kim has this rare moment of vulnerability, letting down her walls to share a story of her childhood struggles with Mr. Acker in a genuine attempt to connect with him, only to have him scoff at her and accuse her of making it up to manipulate him. You can tell his tirade about her being ultimately a selfish person who tries to comfort herself with acts of charity really rankles her because it goes so strongly against her sense of self and represents everything it seems she's afraid of becoming, and so much of what she resents about Howard: the entitlement, the sense of ease and privilege, the self-congratulatory charity acts (don't get me wrong, I really like Howard, pompous as he can sometimes be, but I think this is how Kim views him). By the end of the episode, when she escalates Saul toying with a beer bottle on the balcony into throwing them into the parking lot, you can already see her pivoting and taking those first steps down the road that ultimately leads to the plot against Howard, which she justifies to herself in the name of using the Sandpiper money to fund her pro-bono work. And then in the end of the series, she both runs away AND atones for her actions by moving to Florida and living a life literally leeched of all color and joy, and is just doing penance by living a muted, mediocre life.
Domingo's arc in this episode is so crucial, too! Lalo and Nacho recruit Saul to feed him the information to undermine Fring, but when he meets Hank and Steve Gomez in prison, it starts him on the road to transforming from Domingo/Ocho Loco to Krazy 8. Ultimately leaving the cartel (I like to think because of the loss of his friend Nacho) and setting himself up as an independent dealer and even snitching on his own cousin, Emilio; which then leads to his collision with Walt and Jesse.
And the scene with Mike in the bar! The way he's barely holding it together as he tries (not very successfully) to drink away the pain and guilt caused by killing Werner just a few episodes before (S4E9) and is so triggered by the postcard that reminds him of their conversation is so powerful. I just love how he encounters the group of guys who try to intimidate and rob him and he defends himself in this episode, but we later see him intentionally return and seek them out in S5E5 "Dedicado a Max" in an act of self-loathing and roundabout self-harm via taking a beating and not even trying to defend himself.
I'm rambling, but these shows make me litcherally mentally unwell with how fantastically nuanced and textured the writing, acting, visual storytelling, music, everything is! I'm just going to be ruminating on all these many facets of accepting consequences, atoning, and/or running away affects these characters and the arc of both shows and the world they inhabit for the next long while....

Found Family Tournament Round 1 Part 17 Group 82
Propaganda and further pictures under the cut

Julie and the Phantoms: Julie Molina, Reggie Peters, Luke Patterson, Alex Mercer
Submissions are still open!
Mods Note: It genuinely hurts me that these two are competing against each other. I love them both so much! Curse you random bracket generator!
Julie and the Phantoms:
All the boys are ghosts and Julie is the only one who can see them. Reggie and Alex both had terrible parents and while Luke's were better they still weren't the best. Reggie has a line saying that they are the only family he has
EVEN IF U IGNORE JUKE ITS THE BEST WE GOT JULIE WHO IS GRIEVING HER DEAD MOM, LUKE WHO DIED B4 HE COULD MAKE UP W/ HIS MOM, ALEX THE GAY IN THE 90S WITH HOMOPHOBIC PARENTS AND REGGIE WITH THE SHOULD BE DIVORCED BUT ISNT PARENTS!!! THE SHOW IS A B O U T THE BOYS DYING THEN COMING BACK BC OF *JULIE*. LUKE INTRODUCED HER TO ROCK!! THE SHOW IS A B O U T THEIR FOUND FAMILY AND IF NETFLIX WERE A BUNCH OF PISSHEAD WHITE CAPITALISTS THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN I C O N I C
They are the best band and the best family. Not even death can separate them
Yeo Joon, Kim So-Bin & Nam Soo-Hyun:
Please, I love them so much!! More people need to watch this drama. They all have their own differnt problems, that make life hard for them, but somehow they find each other (because Yeo Joon is very persistent and very lovable (and also, very traumatized)). Soo-Hyun is just the ultimate older brother. So-Bin is so sweet and I love her so much. (I also really love her roommates and their dynamic. I know they're not relevant right now, but I need to mention them when I'm talking about this drama.) I love them all as individual characters. And I love their dynamics. And I love them. I just love them so much. There's this one scene where the teacher asks themwho their role model is and Yeo Joon and So.Bin say it's Soo-Hyun and then they start listing things about him that are great and admirable, etc. And then after the class he asks them what that was all about and they say "We just love you". And it's so cute. And I love them so much. Here's a gifset of the scene. Please look just at it! https://www.tumblr.com/gabrielokun/700647755128963072

Okay, so I saw something about the Emily Patterson and Emily Gilmore parallels and it has consumed my life. So may I present my ideas for a Julie and the Phantoms Stars Hallow crossover au:
Julie, Flynn, Luke, Alex, Reggie and Carrie all go to Chilton. Julie, Flynn and Carrie are sophomores (like Rory) and Luke, Alex and Reggie are Juniors.
Carrie and Paris are mean girl besties and Julie, Flynn and Rory’s frenemies.
Rory and Julie become fast friends and Julie introduces her to the rest of the gang.
When Rory brings them all home to Stars Hallow, Lorelai quickly becomes the mother figure they all need in their lives.
Lorelai and Luke commiserate about their Emily issues. Lorelai has an internal battle between “the mom thing” and her own teen angst, but in the end helps Luke and his mom reconcile.
Luke and Lane bond over their passion for music.
Alex and Lane bond over their religious trauma. (He’s the one who teaches her to play the drums)
Because Rory makes friends at Chilton and gets more involved there, she forgets all about that boy, Dean, so that relationship never happens.
Instead she falls for Reggie.
Knowing this, when Lorelai first meets Reggie and sees the leather jacket and the whole rock band persona she assumes he’s a bad boy (at least until he opens his mouth.)
Reggie and Rory spend hours discussing books and music. (Reggie is super smart. Fight me.)
Willie is this loner kid who skates around Stars Hallow. (Taylor can’t stand him. “Skateboarding! What’s next? Drugs! Crime! The whole neighborhood in the drain.”)
Willie runs over Alex, who is on his way to Luke’s to pick up coffee. Alex invites him back to Lorelai’s garage (the studio) to watch rehearsal. They fall hard and fast.
Speaking of Luke, he pretends he can’t stand the group taking up two tables nearly every afternoon, but really he’s quite fond of them.
Alex is his favorite, despite his excessive coffee drinking, (Alex is a caffeine junkie. Fight me.) and the two of them sit around judging everyone else and trading sarcastic comments.
Absolutely no one is surprised when Julie and Luke get together.
Absolutely no one is surprised when Lorelei and the other Luke get together either.
Absolutely no one is confused by the fact that there are two Lukes.
Julie and the Phantoms and Hep Alien share the studio.
P.S. I made a thing (don’t worry, Luke totally gave Lorelai permission to borrow the song, this isn’t a Bobby situation):

Alfred Molinathon Day 2:
The Steal (1995)
Cliff Williams
Tumblr media
His Role: I didn't expect much going in. Hell, I have never heard of this movie till I watched this for the marathon. A sculptor and clean freak roped into a hi-tech robbery with the messiest American woman to exist and it's a romance!? Excuse me? I love it. I was not expecting a romance, I just knew it was a comedy!
He was hilarious to watch in this unraveling series of events. Him playing this Tony Brummel character and Kim, as his fiance? I love her aggressive, fake New York accent and her playing dumb. Every time no one was looking, he'd just quietly snap at her. To which I was mimic but with more aggressive growling because I thought it was funny to me.
Kim being tech savvy and Cliff being a luddite (being opposed to new tech) is interesting. She'll go on about the intricacies of what she can or can't do with her laptop and him just trying to grasp any of the words she's saying. But then the reverse happens when it comes to his building planner expertise, and she gets feel the ame as hedie with her hacking. Very nice touch, simple and effective.
Every time she'd make a mess and he just stare in disbelief of her disrespect, I really felt that (even though I can also be quite messy). Her being like, hey, I made you coffee and he finds the milk and stuff spilled all around the cup of coffee was insane. I swear she had to do that on purpose!
Kidnapping Childwell was certainly a chore for the two, first getting the man in the first place! Cliff putting on a fake beard over his beard was an interesting choice, and it constantly falling off when waiting for Lord Childwell to get ready was making me squirm with anticipation of the fact he might get caught, always trying to fix while quickly switching back to his stoic and stone-faced persona as the driver. I'd probably keep questioning my eyes or sanity if I was the Lord. And the drive while Kim tries to start the gas to knock him out, my God! What was the issue? Have Cliff help you! Instead, it kept spiraling out of control till the point she just shoves the little hose into the man's mouth and held his nose. Goodness, savage. After getting him to Mrs. Fawkes and taking the poodle pictures, Cliff is constantly threatening to cut off his ears and be like: I'm not being serious, calm down, you should have Stockholm by now. And yet he gives him a coat because he's worried he'll be chilly when they drop him in the middle of nowhere... he's giving this man whiplash! Probably Kim too. To be honest, I'd be the same.
I realized when watching this that wet suits? Kind of sexy, at least on those two~
Kim pretending to be French while Childwell shows up to the house and also starts speaking French, what does she do? She just outright drops it and says she's screwing with him. Just so random and hopefully it was believable for the moment. This movie has the calmest and most quaint car chase ever between the two duos (Kim & Cliff/Childwell & Wilmot). Not super tense or funny, it was just weirdly low stakes. But after that's all said and down, the inflatable boat going off in the car and the other duo driving into the water, we get Cliff getting reasonably upset and wanting to back out but BAM! A kiss from Kim! Then straight to the sewer.
The whole sewer scene. If I had a nickle for every time there was a sewer scene on 1995 movie with Alfred Molina in it, I'd have two. Which isn't a lot but- yes I know he wasn't in the sewer in Species. Anyways, it's a great long scene building the tension, and he's so damn impatient, I understand why. Being heard and someone slowly coming down to their little hideaway and the water quickly rising? Add in the fact that it was his fault they heard him, but it was whoever put that thing he accidentally kicked down the later when having a leg cramp. Kim just waiting and waiting, almost like a gambling addict waiting for a big win. Which, oh boy do they. After they finally leave and have to dive and swim underwater, I was actually worried Kim just outright drowned when Cliff couldn't find her, I would've been devastated. But thankfully she doesn't, I needed the two just caressing each other's face in the water, thank you.
The robbery was successful and they live on a beach, a nice call back to the beginning, where she saw Cliff's very interesting sculpture. At first, it looks like a cobblestone walkway (on the wall), but if you slide the two pieces apart, there's a beach underneath. She says that she likes the beach, he explains that it's metaphoric and also he doesn't like the beach. Yet, here they are together at the end. Finally, he can just retire and follow his interests instead of being a planner for the town council, all with Kim. It just ends right after.
Overall, I enjoyed Cliff and Kim's antics and blossoming romance very much. And of course him getting angry or frustrated never get old
~~~
The Rest of the Movie: I went through most of the plot on the above section. But we have Jeremiah, the man who instigates the whole thing. At first I thought from the description it would just be for money, but no, it's to steal from a corrupt bank chairman for cheating the people of Golanda and give it back to them. A more noble act than I expected. But after appearances, he disappears halfway through the movie, which I didn't mind. But the end he tells Childwell and Wilmot what's going on and I didn't exactly know why but it all went well in the end. 28 million was sent to the people of Golanda to help heal the damage that banker cost them.
~~~
Childwell and Wilmot were an unexpected turn into the story, I really liked their shenanigans with trying to figure out what kind of car he was transported in during the kidnapping (a Morris Minor or a Moggie as some call it). He has perfect memory of his surroundings; the feeling, sounds and the not very helpful clues in the pocket of the coat that Cliff gave him. Wilmot thinking it's all political got a chuckle from me.
Wilmot himself is quite interesting, having fall out of favor after some sort of exposure of his "parties" yet many people seeing him and knowing his style of living are quite friendly towards him. I love that everyone keeps asking if this whole search and the fact they keep seeing Childwell in his trousers (helps the process, really) and Wilmot simply says: of sorts~
~~~
The comedy itself is hit or miss, got a real taste in the beginning when Kim was in America. They tried with physical humor and such, but the cuts, pacing and delivery were very hindered. But I do believe it got better later on.
It's a nice quick watch, so if you have the time, I suggest checking it out if you like these type of heist movies.
