How would the fellowship, Thorin, Fili, Kili, Haldir, Arwen and Eomer react to someone they like who always calls everyone by cute names like ‘love’, ‘babe’, ‘hon’, ‘darling’ etc.
Oooh, good question! I’m going to split this up into LoTR & The Hobbit imagines for the whole casts if that’s all right 😄
LoTR Characters When You Call Everyone Pet Names
Aragorn
His favorite part of your habit, in all honesty, is other people’s reactions. The first time you do it to him he sort of quirks up a brow, but others take it more extremely, offense or otherwise. He gets protective, though, if those others respond taking it too far. He’ll step in front of you if they start flirting with you or try to touch you unbidden even if you’re just friends at that point. No matter who in his group that is, unacceptable. At the use of a regular name slid into the flows of your conversation, something akin to "Oh, honey, you have no idea", his lips quirk up and privately he wonders if you’ve ever meant it.
Legolas
Your first meeting is you brushing past him at Rivendell with an "Excuse me, darling". Needless to say he stares after you with wide eyes because you must know him, but from where? Then you greet Elrond with an enthusiastic "Sweetheart, how I have missed you", and while the Lord of Imladris appears aware of the affront, he is also amused. Clearly this is simply your manner. Because of this, he accepts it without much overthought, though your pet names never fail to bring a smile to the elf prince's lips.
Boromir
The kindness you show him almost breaks him- is he worthy of your honeyed words? "Easy, dear heart, the troubles you carry are not even your own, are they?" The part of him tempted to lash out almost wins, but at the end of the day, you are right. All he can do is shake his head. He's heard you say call such sweet names before, but alongside your other words they pierce his heart like nothing before. He bids you sit by his side. "Wish me to speak or to listen?" You ask, and that is when Boromir knows he has fallen for you.
Gimli
"Who are you calling sweetheart, darling?" Offended as he may be, Gimli also takes it as a challenge of sorts, leaning in closer with smug satisfaction. It becomes a sort of tension for you both, an odd banter of affectionate nicknames tossed out even with the bloodiest challenges. "Cut his head off, Gimli darling!" "Wouldn't dream of doing any less, dear!" Gimli begins getting offended as your habit pops out with others, asking you pointedly what you think you're doing calling the elf sweetheart. "What's he done to earn that, eh?" Leaning in, your noses almost brushing, you give him a smile dripping with smug mock-sweetness. "I thought you didn't enjoy being called that." "Well," he crosses his arms stubbornly, eyes falling away from yours, "I suppose I've gotten used to it now."
Frodo
"Frodo, my sweet, please eat just a bit more for me, I worry so." Frodo's heart does a somersault- he's made sure notice of your habit by now, heard you speak your darlings and sweethearts aplenty. You often said it to tease the others when spirits were light or when you cared for them, but that was not all. The words my sweet were reserved for him. Everyone else got a plethora, it seemed, but him, and it vexed him in the best way possible, twisting his heart like nothing else. The sound of it was like a balm to Frodo, and he dared hope it held the meaning he dearly wished it to, for he was too shy to ask it of you just yet.
Sam
“Sam, love, pass me the ladle, if you please.” Samwise, thinking his heart might burst from his chest and run right up to you, pauses, speaks carefully. “What was that?” He asks, your name falling softly, almost delicately, from his lips. He’d heard the way you tease people before, usually addressing them as ‘my dear’. This was something else. The smile you gave him in response, too, was practically enough to kill him- could you tell? “I just asked if I might borrow the ladle, love.” Yep, the jig was up now.
Merry
“It’s got to be some sort of custom.” “That or you’ll be very, very wrong.” You arched a private brow over Merry and Pippin’s back-and-forth whispering, but thought nothing more of it until your next interaction with the blonde hobbit. “Merry, sweetheart, what are you doing?” Looking up from his knife, he held up a small chunk of wood with a strangely cocky grin. “Just a bit of whittling, dear.” Something about the roguish look he gave you, the confidence with which he adopted your habit, had your heart fluttering; you faltered a bit in your response before you sat at his side. Unbeknownst to you, he was elbowing Pippin triumphantly on the other side.
Pippin
His heart soars the first time he hears you call him honey. No matter what attacks you or what happens that day, day made. Then he hears you saying "No put that down, Merry sweetheart" and it all comes crashing to the ground because he’d gotten it into his head that he was special- was he wrong? He had to have been. When the words so easily pass between your lips again, this time in the form of '"Gimli dear, let me see that", hurt mingles with realization of your manner- that is just how you are. Moments pass, thoughts drifting by as clouds deciding whether or not to storm, before Pippin makes up his mind: he'll make known his interest, try everything he can until he truly does stand out.
Faramir
Publicly he barely humors it, trying to keep a tough face when his seniors or especially his father are present. Privately? It amuses him. Pleases his heart to see one with light spirits in the face of everything. Your ways make you something of an anchor, a reminder why he does the things that he does. You make Faramir laugh and he knows Boromir enjoys your company too- the three of you together form an escape that reminds Faramir of his younger days. And perhaps that happiness you always brings him has slowly metamorphosed, glimmering with hope every time you call him dear.
Eomer
This man, a military leader, and you call him honey? Eomer is shaken up honestly. He can’t even be annoyed because he’s too busy freezing with a slight frown upon his face. Wits coming back about him, he opens his mouth to question you, ask in his blunt way why you address him so... then you turn around and call his sister my dearest and oh, perhaps he was truly overthinking it. He laughs it off, swears to put it out of his head...but the mental image of you calling him a name of endearment plays over and over again whether he wills it or not.
Haldir
“And what has our precious jewel brought to us now?” Since discovering Haldir bristled a bit at your little names, you had decided to find the most ridiculous ones possible for the marchwarden. It worked every time, too, judging by the furrow of his brow. “They go to the Lady of Lórien,” he replied simply, not to be goaded so easily. The man he seemed to know the best, the ranger, exchanged looks of amusement with you. “And what do you have to say for yourself, my dear?” You asked the man. Just as you suspected, Haldir’s expression darkened a bit further- perhaps he had gotten a bit more used to his names than he let on. At that, you couldn’t help a chuckle and a smirk.
Eowyn
Though she may not voice it, she is questioning of your ways at first because she has firsthand experience of people using words as weapons, saying whatever they can to influence others’ will. So sure, call her dear but you will get nothing of her she does not want to give. The day this changes is actually when you call her brother a pet name and he’s shocked and the wide look in her eyes has both of you laughing in a way you usually do not. She envies your carefree ways and from that moment on enjoys basking in them. It is impossible to help the way her heart gives a little flutter whenever a 'dear' or 'my darling' is directed her way, however...
Arwen
The surprise she fixes you with upon playfully addressing her as ‘my pretty’ encourages you, if you are being honest. It’s a pleasant look, flattered and floored, that you think a lady like Arwen deserves to make again and again. As a result, while everyone else gets a casual darling or dear, you make it your mission to fluster Arwen as much as possible. “Ah, treasure, how has this day treated you so far?” She flushes. “…Well, I say. Thank you. And I wish you to know that you are no less than you say I am. The way you speak to me? It can also be said of yourself.”
Elrond
You are caring. Parental. As a father of three, Elrond appreciates the way you speak gently and warmly. Assist his healed patients with soft whispers of be free of your pain, dear heart. As he granted you leave to use his name rather than My Lord you still slip up at times…until it becomes quite the opposite and a good night, dear slips from your lips upon parting for the evening. Elrond accepts and assures your every apology with an affectionate smile, shocking himself with the realization that his feelings for you are much stronger than he had allowed himself awareness of.

first hc that comes to mind for each dwarf. no second thoughts only first ones allowed
anyways kili ate rocks as a kid! (i've seen some people call dwarflings pebbles. fili made fun of him for cannibalism for a bit)
"anyways kili ate rocks as a kid" <- lmaoooo, new favourite headcanon! I saw him more as an earthworm eater, but rocks work, too, lol. And Fíli making fun of him, what a menace.
Alright, headcanons under the cut! Some are inspired by my fic, some are not. The whole thing also got longer than expected 🙈
Thorin:
As soon as he leaves the house, he is magnificent. At home, though, he's the epitome of a middle-aged uncle. Wearing ratty slippers and a wife beater, losing his reading glasses, snoring like an ogre, having weird aches, grunting and coughing in the morning, falling asleep everywhere, etc.
Fíli:
He's quite different from the rest of the family, since he's the shortest, the only one with light hair, and also lacks the Durin temper (except when Kíli insists on getting on his nerves). As a younger Dwarrow this tends to make him self-conscious, but his calm and level-headed disposition will make him a great king later in life.
Kíli:
Kíli is a lot more intelligent and observant than people give him credit for. When he was younger, he was really hurt and offended by other people's opinion of him, but as a young adult he learned to use it to his advantage to either weasel out of unpleasant duties or to learn about things he isn't supposed to know.
Fíli & Kíli (they get an extra one together):
It's always 50/50 how it will go with these two. On the one hand, Kíli looks up to his older brother and can be downright clingy, while Fíli looks after his younger brother and sees it as his duty to keep Kíli as cheerful as he is. They look out for each other, have a lot of shared interests, love spending time with each other and always have each other's back, so don't pick a fight with one of them, unless you are willing to deal with both of them.
On the other hand, Fíli chases Kíli at least once per week around armed with a slipper, while Kíli routinely threatens to throw Fíli, the shorter one of the two, into a pond or down the Dwarven equivalent of a garbage chute (and attempts to do so). About one or two times per year they have an awful row including screaming, crying and throwing things. Though, as soon as somebody tries intervene, they turn against the poor fool as a unit. After some pouting they are back to being the epitome of best friends and caring brothers. At least until the slipper emerges again.
Dís:
She has the driest humour and most of the times her older brother is her target. She teases him all the time. During her lads' childhood she also liked to feign sleep, whenever they went on a rampage, and let her sweating brother deal with it. Her best friend is Glóin's wife (in my fic she is called Máris) and they tell each other the most outrageous stories.
Balin:
He likes to tease his little brother Dwalin and tweaks his nose at least once per day, not even slightly bothered by Dwalin's murderous look. He's about 40 years older than Dwalin and actually a mix between father and older brother to him.
Dwalin:
He looks tough, but is a softie, if he likes someone. He also loves children and regretted snapping at Bain, after he came to realize, how young he still was. So he went and apologized.
He also likes to give nicknames to people. He calls Fíli nugget, since the one time somebody called the lad a vein of gold due to his hair colour, and let's be honest, the lad is more on the smaller side. Kíli is dumpling, since that one time he (over)ate a bunch of them. Gimli is dandelion, because his hair looked like a (red) mature dandelion as a toddler and so on. As soon as he's tipsy, he calls everyone sugar or sweetheart. Still, no one dares to mess with him.
Óin:
Completely unfazed, all the time. He also pretends to have lost his ear trumpet, whenever he doesn't want to get dragged into a discussion.
Glóin:
A hot head, who loves to argue about everything, mostly with Thorin, as soon as they have an ale or two too much. Then they discuss, until their heads are red, before they slap each other jovially on the back and promise to meet up more often from now on.
Dori:
He is very proper, has excellent manners, and also quite the short fuse. If you don't behave he will read you the riot act in the most devastating manner. As a tailor, he also knows no mercy, when people are dressed in an unflattering way, though he is more than willing to help, since he has excellent taste.
Nori:
After the reclamation of Erebor he turns into a phantom. No one, except for the company, has ever seen Nori or can tell what he looks like. Though, maybe be careful what kind of secrets you spill in front of the servant, he might listen more closely than you think. (What can I say, I just love Nori as a spymaster)
Ori:
He's a sweetheart and also incredible awkward around children. Hand him a baby and he will freeze, until you take it back. He is also surprisingly cunning and thus an appreciated member of the court after the reclamation of Erebor.
Bombur:
He doesn't talk much, but when he does, it usually holds water. He gives very solid advice. He's also not only a fast runner, but also a skilful dancer and no one is able to hold a candle to him in regard to stamina on the dance floor.
Bofur:
He's very nice, but he also lacks a little tact and so he sometimes gives out the most devastating back-handed compliments, completely unintentional. No one can make you cry like Bofur, since he's such a sweetheart. Though, he gets better over the years and no one is ever truly angry at him, because he owns up his mistakes and gives the most honest and heartfelt apologies.
Bifur:
He's very caring. You have a bad day? Bifur might not have the right words for you, but he will look after you and when you come home, you'll find a little something in your pocket, maybe a snack, a trinket or a slightly crushed flower. After the Battle of Five Armies and losing the axehead, for a few years he wears hats to protect the wound. Bofur has the time of his life picking them out for his cousin.
Dáin:
Fíli and Kíli call him uncle Piggy and he has a whole troop of pigs. The cuter the name, the more dangerous the pig. So, you may go and pet The Devastator, but stay clear of Little Amethyst, since she will bite your fingers off.
Dáin's son Thorin III Stonehelm:
Thorin's biggest fan. He might hyperventilate as soon as they make eye contact, which is quite surprising, since he's otherwise known to be a steadfast lad, despite his young age. Though, witnessing Thorin's uncle mode for the first time, helps a lot with that.
Did I miss a Dwarf?
Thanks for the ask! This was fun :)

I showed my mum pictures of every muse on my blog and got some HILARIOUS descriptions of who they are as people, so now I am sharing this.
Please enjoy. I did.
Okay here's my blog promo picture, which is what I used to show her all the muses. I'm going to go row by row and tell you how she described each character (some were in pairs, I'll say when that happened)
First, Asahi: "Almost like Clark Kent. A geek sat in his office and then he goes and does something amazing." 8/10. He's not superman but he is surprisingly good when he steps onto the court.
Norman: "Wants to be a private eye." 5/10 not quite accurate, but I could see it.
Gemima, who got paired up with Conny: "They're just annoying. Just look at them, you know they're annoying." 1/10 it was funny, but they're very sweet little girls.
Bruce: "Thinks he's gorgeous." 0/10 ma'am you do not know the self-hatred this man possesses.
Kili hilariously got paired with Fili, and my mother said they both look like they're thinking: "Where the fuck did I park my horse?" 25/10. She has never seen the hobbit and I laughed SO HARD because she knew if anyone was going to lose a horse it was those two idiots.
Jedediah was missed because she recognised him and wouldn't have had to guess his character.
Oikawa: "Boring." 2/10 it's funny because he'd be so insulted, but he's far too dramatic to ever be boring.
Ray: "Angry." 10/10 perfectly accurate.
Emma: "A trendsetter." 7/10 Technically she did inspire an entire crazy escape plan, so I'll take it.
Camilo: "The annoying friend who sings everything." 5/10 accurate, but I deducted points because despite loving Encanto and having watched it multiple times, my mum did not recognise Camilo and thought he was a girl XD
Pietro: "Super fast. If he ran it would be fast. If he rode a horse it would be fast. He'd want to be moving fast." 8/10 I think the icon gave her too big a clue (though she said she didn't realise he was running and thought his hand was up because his wrist was broken), but I would LOVE to see Pietro's superspeed transfer to a horse.
Ori: "He has a speech impediment and is a bit slow." 0/10 more of an unfair judgement than my mother usually gives people, and not accurate at all. Ori is very smart and I love him.
Revali: "Bit of a mean bastard." 10/10 perfect yes he is.
Yamaguchi: "Looks shocked at the world." 9/10 he is, in fact, intimidated by most of the world, so I'll accept that as a correct answer.
Kagari: "Wants to be in a boyband." 8/10 not correct but given that my depiction of Kagari is deaf, I did laugh quite hard at the irony.
Don: "Know-it-all. Thinks he knows everyone's secrets and he doesn't." 3/10 Don does like to think he knows more than he does, but he definitely doesn't think he's really super smart and knows everything about everyone.
Bilbo she vaguely recognised (enough to know he was a Hobbit) but had nothing to say about him.
Thaumas: "Physically strong." 6/10 his whole character is he's too pretty and wants to be left alone because too many people are into him, but there's nothing to say he isn't also physically strong.
Viktor: "What happened to it's eyes?" 9/10 I have no words.
Tsukishima: "He has a 'fuck off' expression." 10/10 yes he does.
Hawthorn and Attalea she had nothing to say for because she 'wasn't sure what was happening'.
Damien: "That's Billy Bullshit. He's two-faced." 3/10 technically he keeps the two sides of himself very separate, but he's not mean or bitchy and he's learning to embrace every part of himself and I love him for that.
Piers: "Scary." 6/10 he's a sweetheart but many young pokemon trainers would agree with my mum XD
Miguel: "Geeky gay Jesus." 10/10 not accurate but sheer perfect anyway.
Nori: "He's a wannabe wizard." 9/10 not AT ALL but I loved that anyway.
Tyler: "He wants to be a personal trainer but he can't." 4/10 it was funny but he dresses that way because he's gay and also we have watched Turning Red more than once so again, I don't know how she didn't recognise him at all.
Kenma: "A sulky teenager." 9/10 yep. Yep he is XD
Lucien: "He looks gay." 9/10 he would be very happy to know that he is not being mistaken for a heterosexual being
Jack got missed because, like Jedediah, she knew who he was.
Ryan: "He thinks he's the strongest but he cries if he can't find the red skittles." 10/10 I have NO IDEA why she went for skittles but she's completely right.
Takuto: "Tarty, because she reminds me of somebody." 6/10 well yes, Takuto could be described as a tart, but is not a she, and now I want to know who he reminds her of XD
#I've put it under a read more because it's long#but this is very fun#my merry me (ooc)#I am not tagging every muse but they're all here XD

▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
PERSONALITY TRAITS:
Positive: compassionate ◇ enigmatic ◇ spunky ◇ intuitive ◇ driven
Negative: self-sacrificing ◇ calculating ◇ stubborn ◇ soft ◇ cunning
PAST:
Lahaina, HI saw the birth and upbringing of one Kalea Palakiko. The island life suited the young girl, despite the scuffed knees and mussed up hair she often sported thanks to her climbing, hiking and all manner of things her mother never understood. Her marine biologist father on the other hand? Fully enabled her more rambunctious tendencies throughout her adolescence...that is, until Kalea suddenly found her teen years parentless.
15 and an orphan, Kalea was taken in by her Aunt and Uncle on the mainland. Despite the new life change, and the absence in her life, she did her best to make the best of it. It's how she first learned about the supernatural (a clan of vampires being family friends), and became more of the nerd she is today. She threw herself into books and her art, using both as a coping mechanism whenever she needed to get herself out of her own head.
She discovered she had a knack for art, an artistic eye according to her Aunt. It even led to her learning how to forge paintings for a few of the vampires in her Aunt & Uncle's hometown, so they could store the real paintings away and hang the forgery's up on display. In fact, that small side business became lucrative enough during her last few years of high school for her to pay for the first year of college.
PRESENT:
She set her sights on Los Santos for college, moving to town 2 years ago and enrolling in an art history program. She also currently works as something of a freelance artist, creating her own works and selling them online to help pay for college. After graduation? She'd love to open her art studio and teach art to kids, even hosting night classes for adults too.
PLOT ARC 1 UPDATE: (tw: death) Arthur sent Douglas & Kalea down to the Archives, where the uncertain circumstances caused them to confess their love for each other, and share their first kiss. After going deeper into the Archives after splitting up, she was given Excalibur by the Knight upon the sword choosing the girl. Now, wielding the sword, she’s learning how to use it. She also recently got a runes tattoo in memory of her friend, Ronan, who was killed by Merlin…before Kalea got the chance to deliver the final blow to the mage.
MUSE AESTHETICS ◇ dark wavy hair moving with each step ◇ jasmine scented perfume lingering behind ◇ 80's music playing softly whilst she bakes
PERSONALITY: She's plucky, a sweetheart to a fold who carries herself with a casual confidence. She's never been a particularly bold one on her own, but definitely is the friend to step up to the plate for others. She'll cook for you to make sure you've eaten, and covets her vinyl record collection. She has a coral reef inspired tattoo on her left shoulder blade, and a wave on her inner right wrist.
CONNECTIONS ◇
Aunt & Uncle
Cousin (wc on main)
Best Friend
Confidant
Friends (pls & ty)
Fellow College Students
All the supernatural buddies tbh
Regulars / Customers of her art business
Connections from back in Hawaii

My apologies for being in your ask box again 🤣 lol but who's your fav dwarves, I mean I'm guessing your first favourite is thorin? Mine would be fili, balin, kili, gloin, thorin, dwalin and then I dunno, I don't even know about that order exactly I just know fili and balin are first for me and I mean gloin's gotta be up there
Thorin is definitely my favourite. But I also like Balin (the dad of the group) and Bofur (the cheeky one). I think Balin and Bofur stand out because they’re sweethearts and comfort Bilbo, being there for him to talk to.
(Never apologise for interacting, love)

Hobbit Story: Of Silver and Mithril: 1
So, this one follows my "Calling in a King's Favor" though you don't necessarily have to read it in order to understand it. I was feeling a need for some paternal!Thorin and I wanted to get some of my head canons on paper!
Red hair blowing in the wind, Tauriel waited amid the remains of Laketown. It wasn’t the most pleasant place to meet but it was certainly quiet and private. Not a lot of folk, be that dwarf, man, elf or otherwise ventured here. They had obtained and salvaged from the city what they could with the conclusion of the battle and so the once bustling port had been left to slowly fade away with time. Time…Her heart felt heavy in her chest the longer she waited. Being an elf, time moved relatively without consequence and yet these minutes felt to be millennia.
“Tauriel!”
Finally.
Emerging from the newly fallen snow was the brown haired prince of Erebor. Trailing at his heels was a white pup that she had heard much about as of late, Goldfire he had been dubbed. The loyalty the creature had already displayed was quite endearing. When Kili came to a stop before her, the wolf child laid by his feet but his ears remained forever tracking. It was appropriate, she felt. A wolf pup of innocence to match the Dwarven Prince who seemed to ooze innocence in all he did. His face, even now, was full of enthusiasm and starlight.
“Sorry, Tauriel.” He laughed, nervously and scratched through his scruff of a beard, “I may just be second heir but that doesn’t mean my uncle is slack with me. It’s just as important for me to know how to run a Kingdom as Fili, he says.” Honestly, it wasn’t so bad. Kili rather enjoyed seeing his uncle’s methods and when his suggestions were considered and even appreciated, he felt light as air. Already, with the kingdom rebuilding, his uncle would routinely ask him or his brother for input. While it was not always accepted, it was always considered. Oh, the pride that could burst in his heart.
It was nothing compared to being with Tauriel though. Her presence, her smile, the very essence of her just made him giddy.
Allowing a light smile to cross her lips, the elf woman remarked “Your Uncle is far wiser than he’s given credit for.” While her interactions with the Dwarf King had been limited, once the Gold Sickness had passed, he seemed a creature of high honor, at least by her standards. She doubted that he’d ever be trustful of elves but the fact he was willing to pursue an alliance despite personal feelings said a lot. With what she knew of the past between the elves of Mirkwood and Erebor, she could hardly blame either side for their reluctance. She doubted if another besides Thorin’s line had taken the throne if such alliances would have even been considered. Yes, for as much as the grouchy dwarf king could be infuriating, she had to give credit where credit was due.
Chuckling a bit and pushing the hair from his eyes, Kili agreed. “Yeah, he is. I’ve learned a lot but that doesn’t mean I don’t miss you!” The truth of that sentiment burned through his eyes like a flame.
Her heart sank again. “Kili, that’s why I wanted to meet with you.” She gave him a smile. “I understand your busy schedule now. Reclaiming a homeland has more work within it than most imagine.” While she had never reclaimed a kingdom, she knew that it took a great deal of work to run one. She was often busy simply being Captain of the Guard or she had been. “I’m almost glad to be relieved of my position as leader of the guard. For all its benefits, the amount of work involved never faltered.” Allowing another smile at the dwarf, she added, “I’m sure you and your brother have been finding that the title of ‘prince’ is not free.”
Laughing a little, Kili remarked “I think it’s been worth it so far though! I’ve never seen my uncle so happy and come spring, more of our people will be coming from the Blue Mountains! You’ll get to see my mother.”
Eyes warm, the elven maiden remarked “I’m sure she is full of strength just as the rest of her bloodline is.”
“She is. Her and Uncle together can be hilarious. Though they work well together.” He smiled and his whole face lit up. “She’ll like you.”
Tauriel took a breath and let it fill her lungs. “Kili, I’ve been meaning to return this to you.” She reached out, took his hand gently lay his stone talisman within it. He had granted it to her before the battle and while she had clung to it a while and made sure that no harm came to it, she knew it was time.
A low laugh came from his throat, one that clouded nervousness. “Tauriel, it was a courting gift. Amrâlimê means “my love” that’s why I gave it to you.” He held his hand back out to her. “It’s yours, Amrâlimê.”
She nodded “I surmised that it meant something along those lines. Your eyes gave all that away. Which is why I must give it back.” She gently folded his palm around it. “I cannot accept it.” She added “I…never should have accepted it.” Oh, the countless nights she had walked the wood, fingering the stone and wondering why she had not given it back. She should have given it back. Was it the moment? Was it the stress of the coming war? Was it a simple, childish desire of her own to fall in love? Perhaps it had been all three but she had no right to play his heart so, nor had that been the intention, but that had ultimately been what she had done.
She had to fix this.
Eyes wide, the Dwarven prince stared “Wh...what? I...I don’t understand...I...” Lost. That was all he looked like…utterly and totally lost. As if he were a forgotten child who was pleading amid the dark night for mother and father to return to him.
It hurt her heart.
“Kili.” Her tone was soft and gentle. “I truly do treasure you. I have lived my whole life among King Thranduil’s halls. I have only known the tales of stars and trees. Yet, here you came with stories of far away places, gems and stone. You carried such passion in your eyes and it was evident in all you did. I do treasure that.” She meant every word of that. Their small conversations in Thranduil’s dungeons had meant the world to her. She had spoken of starlight and moons and Kili had spoken of mines and caves where light sent every gem sparkling like its own fire. He had a deep heart to him and it had initially caught her eye.
Kneeling a bit so she could look him in the eye, she whispered “When I saw you, dying of that Morgul wound, I could only think that what a grievous loss it would be to see someone so full of fire slip away to shadow.” She paused, considered her words “I do care for you. Deeply. But not in the way that you seek.” It had taken her quite a few weeks of self-denial to come to that conclusion but facts were facts. She did care for him, as one might care for a deep friend, perhaps even a brother. She wanted him to do well, she wanted him to be happy, she wanted him to live a long life. Yet, there was not that desire to be one with him, to live out her life WITH him. She was meant to walk side by side with him, for a time, but their paths were not the same.
Kili felt like his world had dropped out from under his feet. “But...but Tauriel....the way we fought together. The way you looked at me. They said you wept when I fell and...” Had that meant nothing? Had their connection meant nothing? Had there been a connection at all? His entire world had become devoted to her. She haunted his every thought! His dreams were often clouded with her image and the image of a potential future (though he did not know how) and perhaps of children. Yes, he had dreamt of lovely children. He had dreamt of waking next to her and knowing the feeling of being wanted, accepted. He had thought she felt the same. The way she smiled, the way she had rushed to his side….had that been him seeing what he wanted to see?
It was breaking apart like shattered glass.
“I did.” She confirmed. “I wept at the unfairness of it. I wept at the possibility of so much passion being snuffed out. I wept for one I could call Elf-Friend. And I rejoiced to hear you survived.” Silence lingered. “But it was not as a lover weeps. I am not the Amrâlimê for you, Kili. That precious token should be saved for one who is.” She hoped deeply for him. He had a wonderful heart and it was a treasured thing to have been a potential recipient of it. When the time was right, she hoped that the world would give him one worthy of it. “You must save it for your true Amrâlimê.”
Willing his eyes to stay dry, for his throat to not construct, the dwarf prince locked eyes with her. She nearly wept herself at the pain in them. “Di...did I do something wrong?” His voice felt small and came out as a meek squeak. He looked like a kicked puppy. Her heart ached for him but Tauriel knew she could not give him what he desired.
“Kili, you did nothing to cause this. I must admit that after we first met, I pondered these feelings myself. As you are, I am young especially by elf standards. I was enticed by such a thought...by falling in love.” Standing back to her full height, she shook her head “Unfortunately, Kili, that’s what it was…I was in love with the idea of being in love. My feelings for you are strong…but they are not love, Mellon.” On that, she knew it. What Thranduil had said to her, about if her love for the dwarf was real, she had found that while yes, it was real, it was not the kind of love she thought it was. Much as she enjoyed his spirit, his spunk, she knew more about the allies they had made in Laketown than she knew about him. She knew she did not want him to die. She knew she wanted him to be able to achieve his dreams. She knew that she wanted him to be happy.
She did not feel an undying desire to be by his side to watch it happen. She did not feel that if he were to die, as all mortals would, that she would fade away. She would be saddened and would mourn but it would not kill her spirit. She did not feel that her own path was interlocked with his. “I want you to be happy, Mellon,” she said again, “But I fear the love you want is not going to be with me. Whomever you find it with is deeply blessed but…it cannot be me, Kili of Erebor.”
Head bowed, hair falling into his eyes, Kili managed a nod. “I understand, Tauriel. I...please don’t let this disrupt the alliance of our people.” It was hard, so hard. Each word was forced out, like choking on sand and fire. “I…still consider you dear to me and…our kingdoms…can learn much from one another. Do not let this…”
“Never, Mellon.” She bowed to him. “As I said, I do care for you and I do have the utmost respect for you. I wish I could give you the affection you seek.” She meant that. She had lain amid the trees, staring at the stars, seeing if her heart would change, if her thoughts would grow, if her desires would shift. She had pondered their conversations, wondered if they could grow into something more. She had felt grief when she thought he was gone and while it was deep and it hurt, it had not broken her. It had not made her ponder about the future with uncertainty. As it was, when the battle had been over, Kili had seemed sure that she would stay with him in Erebor but she had never had a desire. She had been grateful for peace, grateful for the safety of elves, men and dwarves alike but she had never felt more relieved than when Thranduil lifted her banishment. She had wanted to go home. With love, so she had heard, home became that person.
Kili had not become her home.
The young Prince of Erebor stared at the elven woman for a moment longer. Why, he didn’t know. She had made her point abundantly clear. Perhaps he was hoping for her to say it was elvish tradition, a test for endurance or purity or some other such nonsense. Yet, she just stood there, her face devoid of any emotion except sincerity. This was no deeper meaning, no trial. This was simply Tauriel giving him hard, cold facts. It hit like a hammer to the heart but what could he do? He could not change feelings, much as he would like to.
Nodding, as he did not trust himself to speak, Kili turned on his heels and headed back towards Erebor. Goldfire gave a low growl, baring his sharp teeth at the elf woman before trotting after his downtrodden master.
——-
The forges were hot which meant it was not unusual for your eyes to water after a time. You would drip buckets of sweat “if you’re doing it right” as Uncle Thorin often said. There was a reason that most dwarves stripped down to their barest clothes when working the metals in the fire. There were a choice few who would only wear a simple apron to defend against sparks. Thorin had taught Kili and Fili to avoid layers of clothing and they both took care to follow that rule. The forge, while a place of wonderful magic could just as easily turn disastrous.
The slamming hammers made it hard to hear and if you focused on the noises enough, all else was blocked out. Kili remembered his uncle telling him often that if his heart were troubled, he would lose himself amid the noise. Mahal would guide your hand in a craft and if you let your mind and soul drift away from the monotony of the day so that you only knew the rhytmn of the hammers, then there was often a surprise that would emerge beneath your hard working fingers. Lose yourself in Mahal’s presence, Uncle would say.
Kili relished in it.
He didn’t even know what he was making or even if he had an end product in mind. All he knew was that he needed to pound metal. When he’d made his way back into Erebor, he’d found his brother was having his first true meeting with the Dwarf Lords on his own, though he suspected his uncle was near to lend aid if need be. He wouldn’t interrupt that. He could not interrupt that. After all, it was not as if his brother could fix what was happening, fix the anger, sadness and pain that made every step feel like a hike through Middle Earth. Why ruin his brother’s moment for that?
The next best thing was the forge.
The huge fires and hammers of Erebor were luxurious over the small forges that he had grown up using. All the same though, fire and metal was fire and metal. Give a proper dwarf a hammer, fuel and metal and it was all he required. The scurrying of dwarves, here and there, breathed life into the place. It made you feel like you were one with the kingdom, with the spirit of the dwarfdom. The first time Kili had swung a hammer, with his brother, in making the knife for their uncle, he had grinned from ear to ear the entire time, even when his muscles began to ache so much, he swore they had caught aflame.
Now, all Kili could feel was the pain in his heart. He cursed in Khuzdul with each pounding of the hammer. He suspected if this had been the first rejection, he might have sobbed, vented and then moved on. After all, such was the way for love. In their race, with female dwarves being so rare, it was not uncommon for interest to not blossom as one might wish it would. There was concern, deep concern, that their women only bind themselves to those that made them feel whole. He could understand that and even appreciate it.
But it was not the first. Or the second or the third.
It was the sixth.
Each hammer pound triggered memories. One of his childhood friends, Sunna. She’d been one of the few friends he’d had, her and her brother. Usually, they were teased that she could pass as Fili’s younger sister, as she had the same golden shaded hair though she had the rare green eyes of her mother’s clan. They’d been good playmates and good listeners. While Kili could not say that they had never teased him for his unorthodox looks, he knew it was all in jest (or so he thought and hoped it was) until the time came when Kili began to seek out suitors.
He’d always had a love for a potential mate and children, not something all dwarves did. His uncle did not have it and neither did his brother. Their people called it ‘child-longing.’ When the time came to announce their chosen trade to the people, someone with child longing would always announce parenthood first and then their trade. Kili had yet to do his, as that ceremony was done on the old age of majority which had once been 80. Fili had announced his trade as metalsmith, same as his uncle. Fili, despite his looks, had never been interested in mates or children though he did love children, just never wanted ones of his own. Always teased that “if you make me an uncle, I’ll love it!” It was similar to the situation with Thorin, Frerin and Dis. Only Dis had expressed desire for children, her two brothers having been married to their duty, work and craft. It was easy enough to see the same thing in her eldest child. Dis had always teased that if the Durin Line was to continue, it would be through Kili.
Thorin and Fili had been supportive when Kili announced that the concept of parenthood was enticing. “Good, you can handle that part of the heir’s duties, little brother!” Fili had smiled. The years had only increased Kili’s realization that love, a relationship, marriage and eventually children would have to be in his future somewhere, somehow. He’d known it as a youngling and he only became more and more convicned over time. Each rejection and how much it had hurt, only told him that such a feeling was not going to go away.
Sunna was the first.
He’d been young, barely into the teen years by dwarf standards so Kili’d thought a close female friend might be a potential mate. He’d asked Sunna if she might consider it, if they might try to explore that angle. They’d both been young, barely understanding the emotions involved in a relationship at the time. All they had really known was from stories and songs but that didn’t mean they weren’t intrigued by such a concept. It would be a learning experience for them both, Kili had thought.
She’d blushed but politely refused him.
It was the first refusal of now six.
There’d been Friya, who had frequented their uncle’s forge and actually not dismissed his archery as “elf-like.” Hair of coal black and eyes of sapphire blue that had clouded in pity when she’d informed him that she wasn’t looking for “someone like him.” She never expanded to what that meant and he had been too disappointed to inquire. He had attended their annual celebration of Durin’s Day alone that year, sticking by his family and watching longingly at the budding couples among his age group.
There’d been Asjur , a spunky girl with brown hair and grey eyes, who had made a face and asked if he was serious before inquiring if his brother was free instead. That had been the end of that.
There’d been Sifa, a girl with red hair in long flowing braid with a beard to match, whom upon him stammering out his request had laughed in his face and she’d not stopped laughing for a good five minutes. When he had still been standing there after her fit, she had nearly lost her composure again and wheezed out “Not before the remaking of the world, elf-boy!”
The last dwarrowdam he’d asked had been ten years ago. A soft spoken lass named Idua whom had mirrored his looks if only in coloring (she had a beard that rivaled some males twice her age) that had gone with him on a few outings and then confessed that she would not be able to stomach the marriage bed with him because of his “unslightly” looks. She had tried to be delicate with her words but there really was no ‘nice’ way to tell someone you found them so unattractive that the thought of producing children with them was sickening.
Now Tauriel.
Maybe he should have expected it. After all, if the women of his own race rejected him then why would an elf of Tauriel’s status be intrigued by him? While she apparently was a ‘low-born’ elf, she still had her pick of a great many elven men. Why would a dwarf archer catch her eye? The more he thought about it, the more it made no sense. Why? Why did he think there was anything there? Because she was kind to him? Because she fought on his side in a war that expanded way beyond the realm of Erebor?
Because he wanted it to be more?
Kili’s eyesight was growing misty with unshed tears. The sight of the glowing hot metal blurred.
Why? What was he doing so wrong to be continually rejected? He knew he could be a bit of a prankster but he took care to never do anything deeply damaging and he had never tried such things on anyone he did not know intimately. He tried to take his uncle’s lessons on decorum to heart and he routinely told himself that he would honor any potential mate on the same level, if not more so than, than the honor he bestowed on his mother. He would treat them like a princess, no, like a queen!
He had done that with each of his previous attempts. He had brought gifts of well-being, of good intent. He had offered his aid, a listening ear, anything he thought might ease their own workload. He had done everything he could think of to do in order to show his sincerity, his devotion.
So why? All he wanted was someone to love and who would love him back. All he wanted was a family of his own, children to call his own. He loved his brother, his uncle, his mother. He wanted to be able to shower little dwarves of his own with the same kind of affection he had grown up with. He wanted a lady by his side that would smile at him, that would look upon him and love him for what she saw. What was wrong with him? It was one thing to have one, perhaps two rejections before finding your one. But…six? Was he cursed...?
“My Prince!”
The warning came a moment too late and the hammer, having narrowed the metal to hair thin, shattered the final fragment connecting it and metal splintered everywhere as the hammer connected full on with anvil, sending a vibrating pain up Kili’s arm that made his teeth chatter. The sharp pain from the metal cutting into his lower arm came a moment later. He dropped the tool and clutched his wrist, willing the sharp and intense pain to fade away. At least it blocked out those self-defeating thoughts for a moment…
“Your Highness!”
A cloth was wrapped hastily over the cut on his arm and Kili blinked, recognizing one of the dwarven smiths who had stayed when Dain Ironfoot went home, seeking a life in Erebor. Nice enough dwarf and devoted as one could be to the Royal family. He was older, had strips of silver starting in his dark black hair and his beard was more silver than black already. He was a warrior, well known for charging into the fray, a story that the scars over his face told well. Went by Audun if he remembered right.
“Prince Kili, are you alright?” The dwarf’s thick baritone cut through Kili’s daze. Looking down at his arm, which was only bleeding slightly, Kili nodded “I...I’m alright Audun. Just...distracted.” He gently moved his hammer from anvil back to the counter and went to scoop up the fractured pieces of shattered metal, blinking his tears away as best he could but Audun gently grabbed his shoulder. The older dwarf pushed his beard aside and stated gently, setting firm eyes on the younger one.
“If I may, my Prince.” He offered. “I’ll clean this up. Please, go tend your arm. It may not be deep but metal is never good to let linger in a wound.”
Yes. Yes, of course. Amateur rule. He should know this...
Nodding mutely, Kili thanked him “Of course, thank you, Audun.” He slowly walked out of the forges, and was glad to be rid of the eyes on him.
He likely should have stopped to see Oin but he had no desire. He’d clean it himself. It wasn’t the first cut he’d received from broken metal and it would hardly be the last. A forge-master that had no scars was no true master. If he had to patch himself up, the more he’d remember. Yes, yes, that would be his reasoning. The less people he had to interact with right now, the better. He even found he had no will to greet his pup when he bounded at him as he emerged from Erebor’s belly. He simply kept walking, eyes blank, until he got to the Royal Wing.
“Prince Kili?” One of his personal guard, Mahnar, addressed him gently. “Are you alright?”
For a moment, Kili considered telling him. Mahnar, while older than him, was no older than Ori. He’d actually wanted to come along on the journey to Erebor when Thorin had asked for aid but his family had been so against it and he did not wish to be disrespectful to their wishes. Such things could be tricky, especially among Dwarf families. You always wanted to be respectful to your elders and even if Mahnar wanted to lend his aid, he would not blatantly go against his family’s decision. Though, when they finally responded after Smaug’s death, Mahnar had been the first one out onto the rams. His ferocity on the battlefield had been rewarded and when Thorin had offered him a spot defending the royal family, he could not say yes quickly enough. It was a statement to his loyalty and skill to be trusted to defend Thorin’s heirs.
Kili had formed an understanding with Mahnar, a friendship of sorts though it could not be a true friendship. Hard to be close friends with someone when the very essence of their job included dying to ensure you lived.
Still, given their closeness in age, it was usually easy for Mahnar to sympathize with Kili. Talks between the two of them were not uncommon but today, not even Mahnar’s friendly and concerned face was a comfort. He ignored the inquiry and paused, briefly, hand on his door and then turned to look him in the face. Kili was the least formal of his family. It was something he could afford as he was neither the King nor the direct heir. He got the benefits without a lot of the responsibility.
In this case though, he meant to utilize some of the power he held but rarely used.
“I wish not to be disturbed.” Kili said simply, numbly, before walking into his personal chambers. “Not until I say otherwise. No one.”
“...understood.” Mahnar managed before the door shut entirely.
If Kili noticed his pup had not followed him in, he made no mention of it. He’d every intention of going to clean his arm. Instead, he made it as far as the bed, pulled the curtains tight around it and flopped down on the sheets. The youngest prince wept.
——
“Lad’s doing well,” Dwalin noted though he didn’t move from his recline near the door. The meeting would be drawing to a close soon and while Fili had shown no issue thus far, they really didn’t want to leave without warning. Dwarves were volatile folk and it would be all too easy for a seemingly perfect meeting to suddenly erupt into chaos. Much as they thought Fili could handle it, no point in throwing the lad to the wolves so to speak. Thorin in particular remembered such a thing happening when he was a young Prince and while the chaos had taught him well how to handle a sudden eruption of temper, he had always wished his father had not just left him to figure it out. He did not want to do such a thing with his eldest sister-son.
It was beginning to look as if his caution was for naught though. If the action from within the meeting room was any indication, the eldest heir of Erebor certainly needed no aid. Thorin offered a smile through his beard and gave another puff of smoke as he addressed his oldest friend. “He learns well and quick. I know sometimes it’s hard to believe but they both do.”
Chuckling, Dwalin remarked “I think my brother may challenge you on that, Thorin.” Though he moved so he was leaning against the wall next to his king.
Throwing a playful glare his way, Thorin amended “They learn quick and well when they wish to.”
Dwalin’s response was cut off when Thorin suddenly jerked to the side. Had he been any less of a seasoned warrior, the swift shift of balance might have knocked him over but as it was, he managed to grab the wall and remain upright.
“Mahal’s...” Thorin’s curse was cut off by the sound of a deep throated growling, in the form of a little white furred pup who had sank his teeth into Thorin’s boot cuff. “Goldfire, no!” The Dwarf King gently pushed the pup off only for it to then latch onto Thorin’s sleeve and jerk its head back and forth, not once relenting on the growls.
“Where’s your master, Pup?” Dwalin inquired simply, looking around for the youngest prince. He was rarely without his pet. That thing followed him around like an extra shadow. Fili was just as bad with his. The weapons master was well aware that the elder heir had a black furred pup sitting under the council table at his feet this very moment.
Goldfire was not persuaded. If anything, he became more insistent, shaking his head so violently that it threatened to tear Thorin’s tunic. The Dwarf King shoved him off, a bit more roughly. “Goldfire, I said no!”
The pup yelped a little before turning in several tight circles, sitting on its haunches and howling. He ran out the door then back in, scratched at the doorframe before running right in front of the two dwarves and howled again.
Continuously.
“You’re the one that said they could keep ‘em.” Dwalin felt inclined to remind his king.
Calling his friend a rude term under his breath, the Dwarf King was very close to considering making a hat out of the pup when Audun made his way up from the forges. Not too unusual and to be frank, Thorin was rather surprised that more dwarves were not pouring in, demanding that the annoying howling be dealt with. Audun was not one to be easily bothered though and when he saw the noisy pup, he seemed even more disturbed before setting his eyes on Thorin. Bowing low on one knee, as he was want to do whenever greeting the King, he spoke out, “Your Majesty, if I may inquire?”
“Stand, Audun, son of Audal.” Thorin said in response though he had to heighten his volume a bit to be heard over the wolf pup’s howling. Thorin was very tempted to have Dwalin toss the pup outside but Audun had the Dwarf King’s attention currently.
“Forgive me for interrupting, My King, but I wanted to inquire if Prince Kili was doing better.”
Blinking in surprise, Thorin asked, concern lacing his voice, “Doing better?”
“Aye,” the dwarf smith continued “Got a mild injury in the forge earlier and the lad seemed…distant. Distracted. Hard to tell sometimes with him but something was off. I assumed he came and found you or his brother…”
“Fili’s been stuck with the old dullards all afternoon,” Dwalin offered. “Lad probably decided to not bug us about it when he couldn’t talk to his brother.” Kili, and Fili too for that matter, could be quite infuriating at times. They usually were great supports to one another but while Thorin would easily stop a war to tend to his sister sons if need be, they were still hung up on ‘bothering’ him, especially now that the kingdom was getting back into its old glory again. Talked about not being a ‘burden’ to their uncle now that he was rightful king. Never mind that he never stopped being an uncle! Dwalin was half tempted to box their ears half the time for it. If they were up front about things, so much fuss could be avoided.
But then, that WAS the Durin Line stubbornness.
Thorin’s lips were pursed in a tight line “Any idea on what was on his mind?”
Audun shook his head “Couldn’t tell. Looked like he mighta been trying not to cry though.” He hated to add that, knowing all too well the pride of dwarves and especially of the Durin line but that was the very reason why he felt he needed to bring it up. Such a thing was surely a sign of horrific news!
Dwalin and Thorin exchanged a glance. While Kili was without a doubt the more sensitive of the two brothers, it was still rare for him to openly cry outside of the privacy of his own chambers. Even amongst family members, Kili usually reserved his tears for when he and his brother were alone unless it was something deeply troubling. In that latter case, he might allow Thorin to see him shed a few tears. It was rare though and the idea that he had been crying, or at least, trying not to cry, worried the both of them.
“I’ve not seen my youngest sister-son.” Thorin began and stumbled again when Goldfire once more began to tug on his boot before howling once more. “Is that why you are carrying on so?” he inquired of the creature who simply howled again in response. Glancing backward towards the council room, Thorin jumped a bit when Dwalin’s hand fell on his shoulder.
“Go find the youngest lad, Thorin. I’ll mind this one.” He jerked his head towards the council chamber. “Lad sounds like he’s wrapping up. I’ll usher ‘em down to the kitchens for some ale.”
Giving a nod, Thoirn stated “Tell him that I’ll be back to debrief him…and congratulate him as soon as I’m able.” Glancing down at the white wolf pup, Thorin declared “Alright, bothersome thing, please tell me that you can be of some use.”
With a half yelp, the creature took off for the hall and Thorin followed.

The type of person my favorite Tolkien characters would fall for:
With Boromir, Éowyn, Éomer, Merry, Pippin, Fili, Kili, Thorin, Bilbo and Tauriel.
I know Tauriel technically isn’t a Tolkien character, but I love Evangeline Lily and I love red-haired women. Sue me.
——————————————————————————
Boromir:
An artist. It doesn’t matter what kind of artist; whether you practice in paintings, clay, paper, wood, writing etc., he would love an artist as a s/o. He is always quite busy himself, therefore he never found time and dedication to a hobby, so seeing his s/o being capable of - for example - making a small statue or candle holder from a block of clay would absolutely blow his mind. He would run around with it, showing it off to anyone. He does know when not to, though. If you don’t want others to see it, he would leave it as it is, but your art always passes through his eyes. He’d see you work and he’d see the finished product, even if it is not for him to see. He’s always intrigued by it. Make him something special that is for him personally, and you made this man’s whole week. Perhaps even his whole year. He’d put it up somewhere in his room for everyone’s eyes to see. The love this man holds for you and your art cannot be measured, honestly.
———
Éowyn:
Someone who is just as pigheaded and independent as she is, I believe. Obviously, there is no holding her back, but she can be insecure at times. She needs a s/o who will remind her of how strong she is and that she deserves anything this world has to offer. Someone who would follow her to the ends of Middle-Earth if it meant making her prove her worth. She has the constant need for validation as she grew up overlooked as Shieldmaiden instead of warrior, so she would love someone who would remind her of her worth and shower her in affections and compliments constantly. Even if it is not needed. She always appreciates it and cannot express her love for you whenever you show her how much she means to you.
———
Éomer:
An absolute sweetheart. Someone with a caring heart and good causes. Perhaps you have a soft spot for certain people or animals, but he’d love it. Someone who would remind him of the good left in the world. How something so dull can appear so colorful and prideful at times. A bit of sunshine after the rain. He has seen a lot of war and violence himself, so upon meeting someone who will remind him of the positive things in life, he would most likely fall in love at first sight. Give him a bouquet of flowers or a personally baked cake, and he’d melt on the spot. You’d always give him something temporary to show him that beautiful things might not be everlasting, but they can certainly cheer a person up. You’d give him a whole new perspective on life, and he loves it.
———
Merry:
A silent person, most likely introvert. I feel like Merry is fairly extroverted himself, but he’d love someone who is more to themselves. A person who does not parade around with an open mouth and open mind. Someone who holds back a bit more. Perhaps of shyness or purely the idea of not being comfortable around others. He would probably fall in love with a bookworm; someone who can spent the days in their room reading a good book without the need of socialization or fresh air. I can just imagine him coming home one day with you one the couch reading. He’d just wriggle his way into your arms, head on top of your chest and just stay like that while you keep your eyes on your book, you hand occasionally drifting down to roam through his hair. He’d love it.
———
Pippin:
Someone with great stories to tell. He’d love stories about literally anything. You could tell him about old fairytales or things that happened to you once, it doesn’t matter. Pippin loves a good story. You could just lay beside him at night and talk about a vacation you had years ago or a book you recently finished. He’s a sucker for it. I also feel like he would love someone who would join him in his occasional mischief, but also someone who would tone him down a bit and make sure he isn’t doing something too irresponsible. A bit like Merry, but with more control over brakes and consequences. But still someone who knows how to have fun, though. That’s the most important to him.
———
Fili:
Give. Him. A. Badass. Partner. Someone who can beat his ass in combat. Someone who always speaks their mind and isn’t afraid of the consequences. Fili would be absolutely smitten with a s/o like that. You don’t even need to draw a line at your actions, that is his job. He’d keep you in line whenever necessary. Speak up for what you believe in, fight for what you feel is right; it’s just the things that draws Fili to you. He needs someone who can just beat a pack of orcs in hand to hand combat without breaking a sweat. I know I gotta keep it pg, but this dwarf would instantly be turned on, there’s no way to sugarcoat it. He would love someone who could also think strategically, and create a clever solution to any plan, not necessarily thinking about what others want, but solely on that that needs to be achieved. He loves it. He would never shut up about it.
———
Kili:
A nerd. I am so sorry for the Tauriel and Kili shippers among us, but you cannot convince me that Kili would not be head over heels for someone who is incredibly smart or logical. Maybe you will tell him a bit about history, or an analysis about what his stupid actions might lead up to, but it’ll shut him up. Literal heart eyes. You could rant to him about anything about any subject you’d like. You can talk about geology for hours? He’d listen to it all. Invested in Mythology? He’d be in awe of everything you can info dump him about. He would probably brag about it in front of others about how smart his s/o is. He loves using it in arguments (which he will guaranteed get into. He does not know when to shut up.).
———
Thorin:
A musical and emphatic s/o. Thorin enjoys music more than he lets on, but if you can play any instrument (or even sing), his heart would be taken. He could listen to it for hours, occasionally even joining in - as he can sing and play harp, no I will never shut up about this. It does not even matter to him what genre it is. Whatever music it is you make, he will appreciate it and let you play in front of others if you give him permission to. Personally, I think he’d prefer someone who likes holding their music as something private, because it makes hearing it even more intimate, but if you are prepared to let others listen too, he would probably not shut up about it for the rest of the night. The empathic part speaks for itself; Thorin is not exactly good with emotions, so he needs someone who would tell him what to say and how to act at certain times to spare other’s feelings. It takes away the whole intimidating part about Thorin, that much is true, but a king needs to be decent and polite, and not rough and stern, correct?
———
Bilbo:
A decision maker. Bilbo is, obviously, a people pleaser. He needs someone who will help him out in decisions and conversations. Someone who has a mind set out on a single thing and will not wander from it. Someone with a strategic and steadfast mind. A smart, and quick thinker. He loves riddles, so if you were able to return one at the same time he’d asked you one, he’d be on cloud nine. Perhaps also someone he could just turn to whenever he’s frustrated or in trouble. Where he could say what he wants to without getting any response. He’d probably love an s/o who would walk up to a waiter to tell them he wanted ketchup with his fries.
———
Tauriel:
Someone who takes joy in the smaller things. Maybe a little daisy in a big field, or a simple bird bathing in a river bank, but those little things that make you happy, would make her absolutely adore you. When you always manage to find something positive or look on the brighter side of things, no matter how desperate they might look. Tauriel is a realistic thinker, and it often had negative influences, so with a s/o who could convince her to see the good side would be a great relief for her. A charming person who could cheer up anyone, or could make others laugh, even as things seem dark, would be amazing for her. She would even admire you for it. She loves that about you!

The most beautiful execution of a half-thought-out idea 👏👏👏
And might I add the wonderfully talented and amazing @i-did-not-mean-to banged this one out in a matter of what? an hour?
It was so sweet. I'm so happy for Kili and his childhood sweetheart that they can finally recognize the honest feelings between them (and also for Fili and his "siren wife" 😉)
Brava darling 😘
Best Day of his life
My dear little @fandomfaeryreads has also sent in something. With the help of @laurfilijames who is always my soundboard and inspiration, I've come up with the following...
Words: 1,5 k
Warnings: None
Characters: Kíli x OC
“I truly hope that you’ll find someone to accompany you to my wedding,” Fíli grinned, raking his broad fingers through the soft, golden beard covering his shapely jaw. “We wouldn’t want everyone to be worried about you, would we?”
Kíli shot his brother a doubtful look over the breakfast table and shook his head. “It’s more surprising that you’d find someone willing to marry you, given that you’re boorish, smelly, and an award-winning idiot.”
“Oh, someone is worried, huh?” Fíli teased, leaning back confidently. Ever since his girlfriend had accepted his proposal he was – he had to admit this much himself – a little cocky.
“Never,” his younger brother shot back and pushed aside his half-full plate petulantly.
The unnerving grin on Fíli’s face made him want to punch him, and Kíli was sure that his new sister-in-law would not at all appreciate it if her groom sported a black eye in their wedding pictures.
Stewing in his own annoyance, he threw open the French windows and stalked out into the narrow garden; he still loved the house his mother had raised them in, and he dreaded the moment Fíli would move out for good to set up his own household with his wife.
“Hey Kí,” a soft voice resounded and, instinctively, Kíli turned to the wooden lattice that separated their plot from the adjacent garden.
“Hi Bean,” he greeted and leaned his cheek against a gap so that she could press a giggling kiss onto it. “My sweet saviour! Now that I see you, my day has become 100% better.”
Kíli chuckled; her and her mother had moved into the neighbouring house when he had been a young teenager and – with all the humour of their immature minds – he and his brother had taken to calling the young girl “Bean” on account of her being short and laughably fragile compared to their hardy boyhood.
Over the years, the good-natured witness of their dumbest antics and most grievous accidents had grown into a charming young woman though whose demure beauty had attracted more than one suitor. Kíli had chased them all away in more or less discreet ways.
Unfortunately for him, Bean did not take him seriously when he tried to flirt with her; she seemed to stubbornly mistake his earnest admiration for a callous continuation of his adolescent taunts.
“What happened?” she asked, taking in his sour face and the dark cloud of dismay marring his usually so cheerful visage.
“Oh, Fí is being an ass. Say, what do you do tomorrow?”
“I am going to your brother’s wedding, as are you,” Bean replied calmly, cocking her head in a way that made her hair cascade like a curtain of translucent silk over her slender shoulder.
“Would you like to go with me?” Kíli asked, surprised by the sudden feeling of tightness in his chest.
“I thought you’d share a car with Fí. Don’t you have to be there earlier? Well, either way, I’d be delighted to be of help,” Bean replied with a bright smile.
“Yes. No. No, that is not what I meant. Do you want to go as my date?”
She blinked a few times and then broke into mocking laughter. “Did your former date cancel?”
“I haven’t asked anyone,” Kíli huffed proudly.
“Ah, so I am the last resort solution?” Arching an elegant brow, she crossed her arms over her chest and let him waffle for a few seconds.
“No,” he finally said, “I didn’t feel like asking just anyone. I wanted to go with someone who means something, you see?”
Her smile grew warmer and her narrow, slender hand pushed through the planks to pat his muscular, lean forearm soothingly.
“Sure I’ll come with you. It will be like old times…Oh, that’s my mother calling. I’ll see you tomorrow?” With a last, reassuring squeeze and a sunny smile, she disappeared into the house, leaving Kíli alone in the garden, pondering how he could convince her of the depth of his affection.
When he rang the doorbell of the neighbouring house the next day, Kíli felt his heart beating in his throat.
“See you there,” he heard her call to her mother and then, the door swung open to reveal his childhood friend in a pale blue dress that complimented her sparkling eyes. She looked like a China doll – precious and perfect – but her mischievous grin was still the same as it had ever been.
“Look at you,” she whistled, “you clean up nicely, Kí.”
“Eh, I have to keep up with the prettiest girl around, don’t I?” he shot back with a wink and offered her his arm to escort her to his car; Fíli – much less arrogant on his big day – had already left with their mother, but Kíli was sure that his brother didn’t need another nervous relative breathing down his neck just yet.
“Ah, flatterer,” Bean laughed but took his arm and gave it the usual, comforting squeeze.
“Not at all,” Kíli protested softly, “you look gorgeous.”
“It’s my best dress,” she admitted, a hint of colour mounting into her cheeks.
“I don’t only mean today,” Kíli jumped on the opening, “even though you do look especially charming on this day of celebration and joy.”
Bean didn’t reply to that, she merely looked at him inquisitively with her birdlike head movement and her bright eyes.
The ceremony turned out to be wonderful and – when a few stray tears rose into Kíli’s eyes at the sight of the boundless happiness of his brother – Bean handed him her embroidered handkerchief without a word.
“Ask the girl to dance.” Kíli looked up only to meet his sister-in-law’s sparkling, green eyes. “You’re not usually one lost for words, are you?”
Heaving a sigh, Kíli recounted all the compliments he had already paid Bean over the years without omitting how easily she had swatted his attempts at suave charm and playful flirtation aside at every turn.
“Hmmmm,” his brother’s siren-wife hummed, tapping a perfectly manicured finger against her full, rosy lips pensively. “How about you drop the act and just tell her the truth then?”
Giving him a hearty slap on the back, she drifted away to entertain the rest of her wedding party and Kíli resolved to take her advice.
“Dance?” he asked nervously as soon as he reached the table at which Bean dreamily was sitting and marvelling at the understated elegance of her surroundings.
“Oh, you don’t have to,” she laughed.
“I want to,” Kíli insisted and led her to the wooden dancefloor in the middle of the room. How often had he dreamed about holding her in his arms like that?
“Bean,” he whispered into her ear. “I really meant it all the times I’ve told you that you’re beautiful.”
“Ah, you’re making fun of me again,” she chided softly, but there was a note of exhaustion and genuine hurt in her voice.
“I am not. I know that I might have behaved despicably when I was younger, but I would have thought that we’re friends and that, one day, you’d realise that I’ve grown up and…that you’d finally believe me.”
Her eyes were wet and round when she looked up at him now; Kíli could only stare at the pale oval of her sweet face, illuminated by dancing lights and flickering candles.
“I am flippant,” Kíli admitted, “because it’s easier to say the very serious things in life as if they meant nothing, but I do cherish you deeply and I think you’ve been the prettiest girl in town since the day Fíli had to cut his hair.”
“I seem to remember,” Bean cut in, “that someone had burned his hair?”
“Irrelevant,” Kíli waved her interjection aside. “What I want to say is…I’ve been in love with you for longer than I can remember and, even if you don’t reciprocate these feelings, I’d be thankful if you couldn’t just dismiss them out of hand.”
He took a deep breath; it felt good to have verbalised all the doubt and the compounded insecurity he had dragged through the years, too afraid to confront them and too enamoured to let them go.
“Oh, you fool,” Bean chuckled and pushed herself onto her tiptoes.
“I swear, if you kiss my cheek like a good sister now, I will scream,” Kíli moaned; they had been like this for too long – him saying dumb stuff and her forgiving him instantly – for her to even hear how much he wanted her to change the way she saw him.
“You’ve always talked too much,” Bean sniggered, caught his face in her soft, warm hands, and pressed her lips to his.
Kíli forgot about the dance and about the people looking on; he simply lifted her into his arms and melted into that first kiss he had fantasised about for years.
This truly was the most blessed day of their existence.
@fellowshipofthefics here's the second one for today :D
Lots of love from me <3

HC´s - My Christmas Love (Hobbit Christmas AU)
My dear @i-did-not-mean-to 💖 this is for you. Thank you so much for asking me to write for you this Christmas special 🎄 I hope you will like it.
You asked for: How would the company (and whoever you like writing) prepare to tell their crush they're in love with them...on Christmas - and you shall have it 💕
Characters: Ori, Kili, Fili, Thorin, Dwalin
Kili
Kili loves you with all his heart. He flirts with you, winks at you, touches you, and seeks your closeness. Will you return his feelings? There is only one way to find out and Kili knows that one day he will have to confess his love to you. Well, it's not like he's hiding it from you. He just hasn't said it yet, but his gestures and his eyes tell you so much.
Kili never misses an opportunity to be close to you. Through his playful nature, you both get to spend time outside. There is snow everywhere and of course, you get into a snowball fight. It's cold and wet, but you have an incredible amount of fun. You laugh a lot, Kili's eyes shining with love for you.
You win the battle, but the dwarf wants his revenge. "Oh, no! Just you wait!" He catches you and you both stumble, causing you to fall in the snow. And that one moment is so intense that both your hearts beat like mad. Kili brushes a few wet strands of hair from your rosy cheeks as he looks at you, smiling at you.
It's Christmas Eve when Kili knocks on your door and you invite him in. He acts differently than usual. More serious, yet you feel an incredibly beautiful sensation at the sight of him. "I have a present for you." As you open the gift, you find a pair of long stockings inside. They are very noble. White and they feel like silk. Or is it cashmere? Fili hopes you like his gift. "Will they fit you?" You don't know. "Do you want me to try them on you?" And with that, he kneels in front of you while you sit on the bed. Carefully and slowly, he pulls the white stocking over your leg, looking up at you as he does so. In his eyes, you don't recognize the playful dwarf this time, no. This time you see the desire of a prince who adores you.
"I want to tell you something" he whispers as he fixes the stocking to your thigh with a red ribbon. "Then say it, Kili..." He approaches you, his lips lightly touching yours. His warm hands gently touch your thighs. "My love... You stole my heart."
And with a tender kiss, he seals his confession of love.
Ori
Ori is nervous as fuck. He is so nervous and excited, he doesn't know if he should confess his love to you or not. But he longs for you so much that it hurts. He loves to see you laugh and he hates it when you are sad. Ori often imagines him holding you when you cry. But for fear of being rejected, he has never dared to do so.
But after a long talk with his older brother Dori, he has a little more courage. Dori suggested that he should craft something for you because Christmas is coming soon! And this is the best opportunity to express his feelings for you without words.
You and Ori create a gingerbread house. Of course, you snack on the gingerbread, since it's too delicious but in the end, you still manage to build a pretty little house. With lots of chocolate and whatever your heart desires.
You also bake cookies together. Ori has a lot of fun decorating them. He opens up more and more, spends a lot of time with you and you two quickly become inseparable. With Ori, everything is so much better, so exciting! Ori is a sweetheart. He always listens to you and a smile from him is enough to make you happy.
He has a very special gift for you. And this gift he would like to hand over to you at Christmas. It's the 25th of December when Ori takes your hand and leads you to the fireplace. The other dwarves know of Ori's love for you and they are nervous too. You are standing under the mistletoe, looking at each other, and Ori is very nervous. Yet he is sure of his love for you. You are his one.
"This is for you," he says, his cheeks all red as he presses the little bear into your hands. You look down and realize Ori has knitted a bear. A cute, brown bear. Instantly, you have to smile. "If for once I shouldn't be there to protect you, he will." Because this bear is supposed to bring you happiness. And it's supposed to protect you from evil looks and bad intentions.
He is so nervous during his confession of love, his hands and also his voice trembles a bit
"A-Amrâlime..." Ori takes all his courage as he confesses his love for you. "I-I love you, Y/N! And I swear to protect and honor you." His words are sweet and honest. But his kiss is like delicious honey.
Fili
Fili will go with you to a small cottage in the mountains for a few days; at least that's what he has planned. There he will have his peace and the best thing is, Fili will have you to himself.
He prepares everything for a nice weekend. He has already promised you a surprise and of course, you are curious. Accordingly, you let Fili take you to the mountains, but you have no idea how much he loves you and that he has planned to confess it to you on Christmas Eve.
The cottage is cozy and warm. A large, decorated tree stands in the living room. The scent of cinnamon, tangerines, and marzipan fills the air. Both of you are sitting in front of the fire, warming up, and for Fili, it's the perfect opportunity to snuggle with you under a blanket. Of course, you notice that he seeks your closeness more than usual.
You snuggle up to him, enjoying the silence and the crackling of the fire around you. Suddenly Fili takes your hand and looks deep into your eyes. You are so close to him and he enjoys every second. If he could stop time, he would do it immediately. "Amrâlime...". Fili puts a necklace in your hand and when you look down, you realize that the pendant is made of moonstone. White moonstone.
His face is very close to yours, his warm breath brushes your lips. "Let me love you. You've stolen my heart."
"Turn around, please." Because that way he can put the necklace on you. He takes his time doing so, enjoying the sight of your bare neck. Gentle as he is, he caresses your skin and breathes a kiss on your neck. "Merry Christmas, Y/N."
Now it's up to you how this romantic evening with Fili will end...
Thorin
Thorin has decided to prepare dinner for you. He must admit that he is a little nervous. He, king under the mountain, is actually nervous around you. He asked the others for advice and eventually the idea to prepare a nice dinner was born. Unfortunately, Thorin is not very talented in the kitchen, but he let Bifur and Bombur show him a few tricks.
He had time to practice until Christmas Eve, and he had done so in secret.
So Thorin had decided to cook what you like most. White sausages mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. Hell, he doesn't even know if it will taste good.
Dinner will be on Christmas Eve. Just you and him, Thorin made sure of that. The fact that you don't know about it makes it even more exciting for him. How will you react when you realize you'll be alone with him?
You are very surprised when you enter the dining room. Candles have been set on the table and the smell of delicious food fills your nostrils. But the table has only been set for two.
"Y/N. Please, have a seat." Of course, Thorin doesn't miss that you were surprised and he smiles lovingly at you.
During the cozy dinner, you will laugh together, talk, and share many intimate things from your life. Thorin keeps caressing your hands, clearly seeking your closeness and also your touch. Now was the right time. "Y/N?" He takes hold of your hands, crossing his fingers with yours. "Amrâlime, you are my one." His eyes look at you full of longing, full of hope to be able to hold you in his strong arms...
Dwalin
It is unusual for Dwalin, but in fact, he asks you to bake with him. Of course, this is an excuse to have you all for himself. You are constantly surrounded by the other dwarves and for Dwalin this is more than annoying. The kitchen seems to be the only place of refuge - he thought.
But Dwalin seems to have forgotten that dwarves like to eat and while he is baking with you, Bofur, Nori and Ori come into the kitchen every now and then - as well as the rest of Company. Dwalin is desperate. What should he do so that you and he can be undisturbed?
Then Dwalin comes up with an idea. He will take you on a little trip. He prepares everything. A campfire, enough food to roast on the fire, and of course blankets. In case it should get too cold. Dwalin will always take care of your well-being.
You enjoy this trip and Dwalin knew that now was the right time to confess his feelings.
But unfortunately, nature did not want to play along. It became windy and it began to snow. But the falling snow slowly but surely became a storm. Dwalin cursed softly to himself. Why is this happening?
You two had no choice but to return to Erebor. Dwalin is very upset about the circumstances since he wanted to spend a nice day with you.
But we know that Dwalin is stubborn, don't we? So he won't give up so easily. After taking you back to Erebor and to your room, he makes you a warm tea. "I'm sorry." Dwalin throws wood into the chimney, lights the fire. "I wanted to spend some time with ye. Without the others."
He wraps you in a cozy blanket to warm you up. The storm had been strong and it was damn cold. "I don't want ye to catch a cold."
Dwalin was slowly but surely becoming impatient. When he looks at you, he would love to pull you into his strong arms and kiss you. He was about to just do it, to finally confess his feelings to you.
"Y/N, I..." Dwalin kneels in front of you, takes your hands, and looks up at you. He looks at you with love and affection. "Listen, I'm just an old fool. But you make me feel alive."
He kisses your hands, looks up at you, and hopes with all his heart that you understand his words - and that you, of course, return his feelings. "Amrâlime, this old fool loves you. From the bottom of his heart." And you know that the love of a dwarf resists eternally.

Father's hen
A/N: I have no idea how do three years old kids act, but here it is!! I hope Bofur isn't too OOC!
Request by @kpopgirlbtssvt
Hi!! Ahhh I’m sorry for ranting a lot!! I got excited lol😅. Feel free to do what whatever you’d like with this request! Can I please request a Post BOTFA (Everyone lives au!) Platonic!family!Company x human! 3 year old little girl reader (eventual Dad!Bofur x Daughter!reader) where some the dwarves + Bilbo found her all by herself near Erebor (which I’m sure they’d be confused how such a tiny, young human could’ve found her way near the mountain, and after determining she doesn’t have anywhere to go (I’m guessing they’d get this information from Gandalf since she’s so young), they bring her up to Erebor with them and after a bit of convincing, Thorin lets the company take her in as their own. She especially bonds with Bofur (Idk why, but I can so see him as a dad!) as he is just such a sweetheart and he’s the one who carried her into Erebor (plus Y/n would love the cute toys he makes). I’m sure she’d live with Bofur, like he’d make her food, protect her, play with her, read/tell her stories, give her lots of hugs and love, all the sweet fatherly things 🥺 Y/n eventually calling him “daddy” (he would be SO SOFT!!). All of the dwarves + Bilbo + Gandalf would love her sooo much (and would be EXTREMELY protective)🥺

The first snowflakes weren't here yet. It made everyone, who noticed it, a little bit worried. There was often a few snowflakes on Durin's day already, reminding of the freezing cold winters.
Bofur was sitting on the top of the mountain, by the open door. He was looking down, and felt happy, but also worried. Happy, because they all were alive and found a way inside the Mountain. Worried, because...he remembered the attack of Smaug, and had a feeling this will be similar.
He shook his head, to get rid of all those thoughts. They can do it. Bilbo can do it.
-
A few weeks later, Thorin has become officialy the King of Erebor. It wasn't a huge celebration, but, everyone knew it was a step forward. Especially because Bard became king too, so now they all could talk about rebuilding the town and kingdom, and business and help from Mirkwood.
Bilbo was, however, going on his way home. The hobbit was worried, so the dwarves didn't pressure him into staying.
Bilbo, Balin, Gandalf, Dori, Dwalin, Fili, Kili and Bofur took a walk around Erebor. It was a week before Bilbo planned to leave.
"You know, I love the air here. It feels fresh," said Bilbo. It was true. Or, perhaps, he just haven't found his pipe yet, which was one of the pranks Fili and Kili done.
"Aye. The air isn't the only thing my brother likes, isn't it true?" Fili nudged Kili, who blushed.
"C'mon, you can't tell which is male and which is female, elves don't have beards!"
Bilbo, who learned how important the beards are for dwarves, didn't say any comment. However, Dwalin was quicker.
"You actually can," he said, reminding the Prince of the moment during dinner in Rivendell.
"Wait, can you hear it?" Kili suddenly stopped.
"The sound of your embarrasment?" Kili shook his head.
"No. The...the..." everyone got quiet, and they overheard a child's voice.
"Picking this flower, it is as blue as the sky, this flower is as yellow as the sun..."
Bilbo's eyes widened.
"It's a...it's a girl..." he pointed over at meadow, where you were sitting, in torn, dirty tunic and trousers, picking flowers.
"Stay here," Gandalf said. Everyone watched him to go to you, and talking to you for a while. Meantime, Bilbo and Fili came closer.
You were afraid of them, so you quickly hidden behind Gandalf. He chuckled.
"Come on, Y/N. This is Master Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit from Shire."
"I have auntie from Shire!" You said. Bilbo's eyes widened. He sat down next to you.
"Oh, and what's her name? Maybe I know her," he said, trying to gain your trust.
"Um...I don't know. She has curly hair and big smile," you said, hoping he would know who do you mean.
"Watch out!" Kili's scream came from distance. There was a warg near, and you screamed. You froze, but, someone's knife was quicker. Gandalf found out it was Bofur, who threw it.
He quickly came to you, and carefully hug you. You hugged his leg, and cried from fear.
"You are safe, lassie." You looked at him with your huge e/c eyes, and quickly looked away. He carefully stroke your hair.
"Where are your parents, lassie?" He asked her.
"I don't know. It was still dark. Mummy left me and went back, but I got lost," you muttered, and your stomach agreeded. Meantime, Bilbo, Fili and Kili stood next to Bofur.
"Well...what if we went back and give her something to eat and let her sleep in proper bed?" Bilbo said quietly.
"We can't leave her alone anymore," Bofur nodded.
"I agree. It could take months before we find them. She has to have somewhere to stay, safe and warm," Kili said, and smiled at you.
"Do you think Uncle will agree?" Fili turned to Kili.
"He will have to," Bilbo said.
"Those are very brave words," Dwalin said in barely audible voice.
-
On the way back, you were holding Bofur's hand, but then he decided to let you have a piggy back ride. You even fell asleep on his back, snuggling to his coat.
When you arrived, he looked over his shoulder at you.
"Aye lass, time to go to bed," You woke up, and Bofur felt guity of it. But, you couldn't sleep on his back.
"What would you like to eat, lassie? You seem hungry. Then you can go back to sleep," That seemed to work.
Over the weeks, you were getting used to your new home. You didn't fully understand what happened to your family, but your found family made sure you were safe and happy. Bofur made toys for you to play with, and needless to say, you would play with them all the time.
It was around two weeks later, when you met a dwarf woman, who didn't seem unfamiliar. You didn't notice the exchange of looks her and Bofur had, when she noticed him and he noticed her.
"What's the matter?" Bilbo asked.
"You...you are...?" The dwarf woman said, and Bofur's eyes sparkled in realization.
When you came back to the castle, Bilbo, Fili and Kili took you aside, while Bofur and her talked. Fili and Kili tried to listen (obviously), and when Tauriel entered the room you usually had breakfast, lunch and dinner in, Kili gave her puppy eyes.
"Oh, c'mon love!"
"That's personal. Besides, I didn't hear much anyways, and I came to Y/N. I haven't seen you in days, little one." She smiled at you, and Kili pouted.
"What about me?" Tauriel rolled her eyes and kissed his nose.
"Better?"
"Slightly," he muttered, and you giggled.
"See, Y/N likes it!" Kili explained his previous pout to his girlfriend. Fili was chuckling, and Bilbo seemed to have fun too.
"Y/N," the dwarf woman came to you. You curiously looked at her.
"I suppose you know...Bofur, right?" You quickly nodded.
"Alright...well, um..." she was unsure, but you didn't notice. You looked around.
"Where is mummy?" Her eyes were sad.
"I'm not sure. But...Bofur," she smiled, and looked over at him.
"Is my cousin. Would you mind to stay with us?"
The room was quiet, until you gave Bofur and her a smile.
A few months later, Bofur was reading you a book before bed. You snuggled into the blaket, and closed your eyes. Bofur gently patted your head.
"Good night, little one."
"G'night, daddy," you muttered.
Bofur's face was now having a big, proud father-like smile on, while little tears in his eyes.
Fifteen years later
"You can do it, Y/N!" Kili cheered at you, as you were drinking your ale. You lost your count already.
"And that's it!" You said, as one of your friends fell under the table. You and your uncles - Fili and Kili - laughed.
"Y/N? Y/N!" Your friend came to you, relief on his face. You turned to him, and his cheeks flushed.
"Well, um, it's late, maybe you-"
"Did dad already find out?" You frowned, and he nodded.
"You two get up, we're going home!" You said, looking down - literally, you were taller than both of them - on your uncles.
"Y/N, I remember you being so tiny you didn't reach my waist!" Kili said, and you rolled your eyes.
"I remember the last time you two didn't come home early, and grandma caught us sneaking in," you said, and they shared a look of terror.
Your grandmother and Tauriel were nobody to mess with, and both of them knew that.
"Alright, we're coming-"
When you arrived, you quietly came to your father's room. He recently told you the story, but, you didn't got angry at him. You were happy for him to be there for you, instead.
"We're home, dad." You said, as you noticed him working on a toy he has been talking about recently.
"Hi, little one," he gave you a tired smile. You came close to him, and sat down next to him on a chair, placing the toy carefully down on the table.
"You are tired. Go get some sleep. I won," you smiled. Bofur took off his glasses, and the candle light moved, as he got up from the table.
"Okay, fine. Have a good night sleep," he said. You smiled, got up, and stood at the door.
"Good night to you too, dad. I...I wanted to thank you. For everything." He smiled.
"That's nothing, really."
"To me, it's everything. And don't argue with me, dad. You need that sleep too." You closed the door and walked away, not noticing Bofur's eyes with tiny tears.
Just like the first time you called him your dad.

I do have to tell you, seeing your reblog about your Kili OC inspired me to watch the Hobbit movies for the first time, and I made an OC to be a poly ship with Bilbo and Thorin! I haven’t actually posted anything about her yet, but her name is Morrigan Ravenroth, she’s a witch (because I may or may not have created an entire witch culture in Middle Earth just in the process of creating her), and she is a whole sweetheart!
(I may also have stolen Emilia Clarke as an FC from you, but she’s just so pretty and the resources are perfect for a Middle Earth OC, plus Morrigan is pretty different from your OC, so I hope you can forgive me for that! 😅😅)
AHHHH YES THE HOBBIT !!! i’m so happy i got you to watch the movies, they’re so good !!! and omfg a bilbo AND thorin oc????? i’m a mess nsnsnsnsnsn i love that sm!! dude, coming up with a whole witch mythology/lore for middle earth is so fucking cool like kudos to u hun!! yES GOD I LOVE EMILIA CLARKE SM !! and pls bb you didn’t steal her from me omg no i don’t own her 😂 people can use the same fcs for the same fandom like that’s not an issue at all! and bc you say your oc is very different from mine and they also have different love interests, then that works perfectly!! but i’m so glad i got you into the hobbit !! now it’s time for you to watch the lotr trilogy 😏

what up. full disclosure, found out about you from the 200 followers posts lol, but i've joined the following crowd and i have not been disappointed. congrats babe. anyway, i was hopin u could write some lil hcs for the fellowship and/or the company reacting to an asexual reader? its ok if ur not comfy or u dont have the time, but there's not a lot of these out there and i wanted to ask!
Thank you for this ask!! Sorry it took literally forever, but it’s here now! I hope you like it, and if you have issues about any of it, just let me know! (also, thanks for all the info in the dm’s, i’ve come to the conclusion that i’m probably demisexual...)
I decided to do the company
-They’d Probably a bit confused at first
-Especially Kili, the dwarf literally falls in love with anyone who looks at him longer than 5 seconds
-But I think the dwarves would actually get it better than any other race
-since many dwarves aren’t interested in romance at all, devoting their life to their craft.
-“The number of dwarf-men that marry is actually less than one-third. For not all the women take husbands: some desire none; some desire one that they cannot get, and so will have no other. As for the men, very many also do not desire marriage, being engrossed in their crafts.” -Appendix A of Return of the King.
-Like damn, Tolkien really made a vast majority of the dwarves asexual.
-So actually, scratch the confused part, they would all think it’s rather normal.
-You’d fit right in!!
-Bilbo might be a bit more curious though.
-I mean, hobbits pop little children out like rabbits
-he’d be very polite about the entire thing though, and if he was confused, he wouldn’t make assumptions, he’d simply ask you about it
-He’s a sweetheart like that.
-But going back to fitting right in…
-unlike humans, tolkien basically tells us the majority of dwarves are asexual
-and it’s a bit strange for you at first
-since you’re surrounded by dwarves, who don’t have almost every conversation relating around sexual relationships, unlike humans
-It’s kind of liberating
-you’ve truly found your people.
-and feel very content with yourself and identity, since you’ve found out there’s so many others who share your feelings on sexuality.
-The dwarves never force romantic/sexual topics on you, and will 100% smack Kili if he does (poor baby’s just curious, that’s all, he doesn’t mean to make you uncomfortable)
-They are also very supportive, if you ever need to talk about something revolving around asexuality, they’re right there to listen
-I feel like some of the dwarves who are also on the asexual spectrum are Fili, Oin, Dwalin, Ori, Balin, and Nori
-You’re the aces of the group
-they all offer advice and share their own experiences, if they feel like you need it

Thoughts on Tauriel?
ooooooh b o i I’m guess you’re asking because I mentioned I don’t like her in reply to a different ask. Before I lay down my thoughts, I need to give a wee disclaimer.
If you love Tauriel, then fantastic & please continue to do so!! I totally appreciate that to some people she is amazing and I 100% support you loving on her! What I’m going to express is just MY personal opinion on the character. NOT THE ACTRESS. Evangeline Lilly is a sweetheart and an amazing actress!! My issues are with the character/writing, not the actress. In expressing my own thoughts I am also NOT encouraging ANY hate on the character. Hate is never welcome and never okay regardless of character opinions and tastes. I completely respect those who adore Tauriel and I encourage the love on her to continue.
All that said, I do not vibe with Tauriel. For several reasons. I get far too strong ‘I’m not like other girls’ vibes from her. There is this sense of her needing to assert her authority and power because she is a female elf. And yet, Arwen and Galadriel never give me those vibes. In the case of the latter two, they are extremely powerful and self-defining without any need to prove it or appear ‘strong’ around others. You just know upon first meeting Arwen that she is confident in herself and her place and doesn’t need those around her to reassure her of it - she just simply IS. In contrast to Tauriel, she just comes across rather... insecure? to me. Like, she needs those around her to know that she is powerful and she needs to know that they know. If that sentence makes sense at all. She also, in my opinion, is selfish. But its framed as a ‘good moral’ thing. (This is just a badly written character, I do not blame anyone but the writers for this) She disobeys her King and then acts shocked when he banishes her? Whilst yeah Thranduil is a questionable moral character, you cannot doubt that he has his people at his heart and was trying to protect Tauriel with them. She paints Thranduil as a dark evil overlord and yeah Thranduil is pretty heckin’ scary - but this guy has single-handedly protected his kind for hundreds of years, he has fought in multiple wars and he VERY CLEARLY still mourns the loss of his wife - to the point he is willing to have an open war with the dwarves just to get some gems that were meant for her. She tries to tell him that he has no love in him, but when you actually look at Thranduil’s actions - underneath the cold exterior everything he does is for love. For his wife, and his people.
I also kind of find it hard to believe she would fall for Kili so quickly? Now don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy the cute romance and thought it was a nice touch. But I question if it was done in the right way. The hate between elves and dwarves goes back CENTURIES. In LOTR Legolas and Gimli hate each other for a long time. It is not until Gimli comes to admire Galadriel and she gives him his blessing that things begin to turn, and even then their elf/dwarf bond was extremely strange. Tauriel is in Thranduil’s Kingdom. THRANDUIL’S KINGDOM. THE GUY WHO HAS BEEF WITH THE DWARVES OF THE MOUNTAIN. She would’ve had a lot of prejudices against dwarves that aren’t just gonna go away after a wee chat about stars. Again, that’s poor writing. By all means have the romance - but it just needed to be built upon a bit more I think. Shes kind of a Mary Sue (Again - just my opinion!). She has these super cool ‘unusual’ traits of being both a fighter and a healer. Which from what I understand is unusual for Elves. Elrond has both - but hes Elrond and it makes sense. For Tauriel it just seems...? Why..? What is the point? It kinda leads back into that whole ‘I’m not like other girls’ vibe again. I’m sure I read somewhere that her ginger hair is also unusual, I’m not gonna sit here and try pick apart her hair - its more the point that shes ‘special’ and ‘unique’ and ‘not like other girls’ I also don’t understand why there was any need for Legolas to have feelings for her. I kind of like the fact that in LOTR Legolas isn’t involved in any love story - it makes him stand out and allows you to focus on his character. It just didn’t add anything at all, and I wonder what Tolkien would think of someone bringing a love interest into Legolas’s life.
She just doesn’t stand up to Arwen, Galadriel or Eowyn. BUT THIS IS ALL JUST MY OPINION AND YOU ARE 100% ENTITLED TO DISAGREE WITH ME. IM NOT TRYING TO START FIGHTS OR HATE. PLEASE CONTINUE LOVING ON TAURIEL IF YOU LIKE HER. IF THIS DOES SPARK ANY RIDICULOUS HATE I WILL BE DELETING IT. Those are my thoughts Anon! 💝
#people are totally entitled to disagree with me like its fine#if you love her then pls continue to do so!!! im staying in my lane!!!#i only gave these opinions because someone asked#theyre just MY thoughts on it all
