Consider:

Billy as a KND operative. They have their own hierarchy, weaponry, and missions (mostly against adult tyranny) but still have to go to school.

Billy was handpicked by Freddy who thinks he's both scrappy and spunky enough to fight the good fight, but could also benefit from having a room in a Treehouse or on Moonbase.

Flash had never seen Marvel so mopey before.

"Cap? You good buddy?" He asks, stopping by his elbow.

Marvel groans, sinking his face into his arms.

"Just some work stuff, Flash, don't worry about it."

Flash perks up. Cap never talked about his civilian identity. But if he needed help...

"C'mon man, you can tell me. Maybe we can figure something out." Flash offers.

Marvel sighs again.

"It's my job. They're debating on whether I'm suitable to carry on working even though I haven't hit the proper retirement age. There are some... extenuating circumstances. I don't want to get wiped."

That was... an odd way to put fired. But Cap was an odd guy.

"...Wiped?" Flash asks delicately.

Marvel mimes a gun with his fingers, pointing it directly at his temple.

His body language is bored, but a frisson of fear runs down Flash's spine anyway.

"Boom!...Pshhh. Y'know, gone. Mind wiped."

Marvel flops back, arms curved over the back of the couch.

"Five years of service and a promised 2 more to go, but they're trying to kick me to the curb. It's so unfair, man."

A strange silence descends on them both. Flash's mouth is uncomfortably dry.

He's beginning to regret asking.

"Can they do that?" He rasps.

Marvel shrugs.

"Never stopped them before. Everyone knows what they sign up for. We all knew it was gonna end. Still... just thinking about getting cut early, sucks."
