There is an excellent book with a similar premise called Fate of the Fallen. Its so good, the main character is the chosen one's best friend.

only just saw this but !!!!!

so i was just playing omori again and i realised that it’s easy to take the flower meanings in omori at surface level at first - especially the cactus.

basil says that he chose them because “they don’t need much care and can survive even in seemingly impossible conditions” which he then says is because “even kel could take care of a cactus”

but then look at the real world. nobody paid attention to kel - he was never given much care. and he seemingly recovered, got happier, or at least put on the mask. surviving even in seemingly impossible conditions, these conditions being his friend group falling apart as a result of a “suicide” none of them saw coming.

Okay.. just one more chapter🤓

I'm reading Reign of Madness by Kel Kade - the first book was an atrocity to get through (the characters were so annoying. I basically skipped most of it.. ugh 😮‍💨), but I'm feeling better about this one.. there are 5 of them in the series (as far as I know), so I decided to give it a chance despite a disheartening start and at this point I'm treating it as a slowburn kind of situation.

I've been reading Kel Kade's King's Dark Tidings fantasy series and I'm loving how Rezkin just... accidentally... acquires things. He kinda accidentally build a criminal empire and became the infamous and dreaded Raven. Through no fault of his own he became a heir to the throne - which left him rather mind-boggled - and also the mystical Riel'gesh of the Riel'sheng assassins - he thought it was just some title! - he won the King's Tournament as the terrifying Dark Tidings, he became the chieftain of an Eastern Mountain tribe and then went on the run from the mad king with a ship full of refugees which led him to make a deal with the fae - ha! - and also acquire a mythical kingdom on a deserted island because why the hell not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ And the best thing is, Rezkin is always so very confused, all, HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?!

Today is cold, stormy, and an arthritic nightmare. So I'm going to utilize my second day of my "weekend" to do rountable reads. Basically I read a chapter of each book in the circle until one catches my interest so raptly that I can't put it down.

Book Review: Mage of No Renown (Tales of Terralor #1) by Kel Kade

I’m a big fan of King’s Dark Tidings, so when I heard that Kel Kade released a prequel that focuses on Wesson, one of the only mages in the series, I was super psyched.

Without giving too much of both series away, Mage of No Renown tells Wesson’s story from a young age. Wesson is an incredibly powerful mage with a vast amount of “destructive vimara” (vimara is essentially the magic system in this world), and right off the bat in King’s Dark Tidings he makes it very clear that he doesn’t like using it. In fact, he’d rather be a healer despite being a great candidate for a battle mage. In Mage of No Renown we learn more about the psychology of Wesson and why he’s more inclined toward one path, rather than the other.

The book moved quickly and I was left wanting more. Kel Kade said he should have the next book in the King’s Dark Tidings series finished by the end of the year, and I hope Wesson is a major focal point!

I just love catching up on a book series with no fandom. I AM HAVING WITHDRAWALS!! Please I need to scream about these books with someone... I now also understand why people are so mad at Kelly Kade for working on another series when The King's Dark Tidings is still in progress, like oh man the clif hanger. None of the other books ended on a cliff that large. From what I read tho KDT was published independently and she has since been picked up by a publishing company. Apparently the company wanted her to work on something else before returning to KDT. Hence the 2 year gap. But like in terms of the fantasy/sword and sorcery genres its not even that bad. So like I get it buuuuuuut please bring my emotional support assassin back soon I need to know....
