just realised that my favourite 80’s shows share the same ship format…
mike wheeler & kate messner as character A
el hopper & luke o’neil as character B
will byers & emaline addario as character C
characters A & B are first introduced as a ship:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
character B kisses character A inside/in front of a closet. character A seems to discover something:
character C (a same-sex friend) is soon revealed to be crushing on character A.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
character C becomes character A’s primary focus:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
in everything sucks! character A imagines an alien love story as a metaphor for queer love. character A’s best friend writes it for his film:
Tumblr media
in stranger things character A’s best friend refers to the opposite sex as a different species — this later turns into another metaphor for queer love:
Tumblr media
in everything sucks! character A comes out as lesbian so she breaks up — but maintains a friendship — with character B:
Tumblr media
then character A finally confesses her feelings for character C:
Tumblr media
as for stranger things, i’ll have to wait & see! 👀

I love themed gifts, and I’m kind of obsessed with the presents I’m giving my friend’s kid. Just look at the squishmallow slug. 😭

The Trouble with Heroes by Kate Messner
Summary: One summer. 46 mountain peaks. A second chance to make things right. Finn Connelly is nothing like his dad, a star athlete and firefighter hero who always ran toward danger until he died two years ago. Finn is about to fail seventh grade and has never made headlines . . . until now. Caught on camera vandalizing a cemetery, he's in big trouble for knocking down some dead old lady's headstone. Turns out that grave belongs to a legendary local mountain climber, and her daughter makes Finn an unusual offer: she'll drop all the charges if he agrees to climb all forty-six Adirondack High Peaks in a single summer. And there's just one more thing--he has to bring along the dead woman's dog. In a wild three months of misadventures, mountain mud, and unexpected mentors, Finn begins to find his way on the trails. At the top of each peak, he can see for miles and slowly begins to understand more about himself and his dad. But the mountains don't care about any of that, and as the clock ticks down to September, they have more surprises in store. Finn's final summit challenge may be more than even a hero can face.

This book is what it says it is. Insects are super awesome (well, except a few who aren’t), but, whether or not you like them, they all have these really cool adaptations to survive against their bigger predators like birds and such. And, this book goes into both their offensive and defensive ‘superpowers’. It’s not just Spider-Man that would be a cool ‘made by an insect bite’ superhero.
