"These are the first two masks I designed for Kroenen. The first one is totally based on Mike Mignola's comic designs and the second one has some modifications to enrich its look and make it look more sophisticated and with more detail."

"This Mask design was used in the final scene of the movie, when Hellboy punches Kroenen and the mask is destroyed. It is one of my favorite designs, as I put much more of myself than in the previous design based on Mignola's art."

"At Guillermo del Toro's request, I designed some masks with a bit more of an insect look. I guess I didn't get the expected result or it wasn't the right direction."

"To change direction and offer some totally different alternatives, I designed some leather masks with respirators and other small mechanical elements."

Here’s a confession - I like Sam as a character.

ABSOLUTELY not as a person. He is a horrible person, but I like his character the same way I like Karl Ruprecht Kroenen and other villains. Most people seem too scared to make TRULY bad characters, they’re all stuck on moral grayness or villains with tragic motive.

But evil people don’t HAVE redeeming qualities. They shouldn’t just make you feel like ‘oh that sucks’ or ‘wow they’re mean’ a character like Sam should make you feel ANGRY and disgusted. And I feel like other people wouldn’t be as brave to write him as such.
