Me when someone say two male characters are friends or brothers: 🎵🎵 Stop being heteronormative and saying every deep bond between two men is brotherhood or friendship 🎵🎵

I've always thought of Kallus as a very water-coded character. People underestimate the destructive power of water but a flood can wipe out a village, a diverted stream can leave a city abandoned. Poisoned water can kill if you drink it, water damage can grow mold and poison the air. But as dangerous and destructive as water can be, it's most often associated with healing. Kallus helps Zeb heal by returning his people and homeworld to him through the Lasat prophecy and helps himself heal by turning his back on the Empire and being honest with himself about the system he was a part of. By reflecting. Another feature of water. Water also has a way of cementing its own path by digging into the earth where it flows. This makes it nearly impossible to change its path unless some other force acts on it. This fits with my interpretations of Zeb as a very earth-coded character. A rockslide, an earthquake, a boulder, etc., can all shift the flow of a stream more suddenly than natural erosion.
When we first meet Kallus, it's on Lothal, in Capital City - a coastal city. And it makes sense that his transformation takes place in a tundra (snow and ice) and from there he starts to thaw. (This is also bolstered by my Estonian!Kallus thought, "The surname Kallas has its roots primarily in Eastern European and particularly in Estonian culture. In Estonian, “kallas” translates to “shore” or “bank,” indicating a geographical connection, likely referring to families that resided near a riverbank or coast.")
Destruction, reflection, transformation, and healing are all attributes associated with water. Plus the combination of earth (Zeb) and water (Kallus) creates and environment for growth, be it literal (Kallus' garden on Lira San) or metaphorical (his defection from the Empire).
Water is also closely associated with emotion, and I think Kallus is an incredibly emotional character, even if he doesn't show it. Nobody takes the extreme measures he took if they don't truly care about something. Committing treason, betraying his entire life's work, even though it was the right thing to do, it's an extreme step to take and nobody would take that extreme a step if they weren't moved, not just by logic, but by emotion as well. All we really see as an audience is his sarcastic, stand-offish exterior but there's a whole emotional underbelly to him that we only see on a handful of occasions.
Idk maybe it's just me but he's so interesting I wanna shake him.

The original and the redraw!
I drew the original a few months ago and I gave up on it because I didn’t like how it turned out. Now, I’ve finally gotten around to redrawing it and actually coloring it!

M'kay, so I finished Rebels two nights ago (first time watch), and I don't have many coherent thoughts other than it being a really good show (holy shit the found family and the love despite it all and how emotionally congested these idiots are despite telling each other to be open about their feelings), and well . .
YALL He took him to Lira San 😭

I have like 3 angsty WIPs rn but need something sweet today.
"I...um...made you something..." Kallus says shyly, red covering his face, already beginning to regret this.
Zeb turns around from the workstation he was cleaning his blaster at, instinctively smiling when he lays eyes on the blond standing before him with something hidden behind his back. The little pink coloring his face is so precious, and it makes his freckles pop, and Zeb loves it. It takes everything in the Lasat to not pull him in close and kiss him right there. But friends don't do that, Zeb reminds himself. "Hey Kal, what for?"
Kallus looks to the floor, embarrassment taking over, because he had no reason, he just wanted to. Without looking up he mumbles, "Um, nothing important, I just um, well, remember on the moon when you, you know kept me warm and there was that meteor. Well, um I thought I could return the favor, because I know sometimes it's drafty in space." He cringes internally at how stupid he must sound but continues, "um actually I started this when I was still working as Fulcrum but had to leave it when I escaped. So I started it again and um ..."
Zeb lets out a little chuckle at the ramblings of the ex-imp in front of him. "Well you going to show me?"
"Oh stars, right." He pulls out a folded sweater and hands it to Zeb. "I knitted this, I hope it's not too big."
Zeb takes it and holds it in front of him, unfolding it. It was soft and blue, but in the center looked like a glowing yellow rock made of sparkly yarn, the meteor.
Before Zeb can say anything, Kallus says "You don't have to wear it, I know it's silly. Honestly, I shou...." He is interrupted by Zeb pulling him in for big hug, sweater squished between them.
"I love it, Sasha..." Zeb says softly. I love you.
Kallus feels like his heart was going to explode from the influx of emotion filling it, he wraps his arms around Zeb, hugging back. Both were too afraid to take the next step for now, but this was enough.
And the next time, the Ghost was deployed, the air conditioner was cranked up completely, and as everyone was shivering, Zeb sat comfortably in his sweater.

Hera, Zeb, Kallus and a 5 year old Jacen are working on Ghost repairs:
Kallus: *hands Jacen a treat from one of his pockets*
Hera: Aww, what do we say when Uncle Kal gives us treats?
Jacen: *shy* Thank you Uncle Kal. :)
Kallus: *heart exploding from cuteness overload*
Zeb: Alright, break time. Hey Jacen, what do we say when it's time for a break?
Jacen: *suddenly confident* Go the hell to sleep Alex!! :D
Kallus: WTF???
Zeb: *ROFLMAO*
Hera: GARAZEB, WHAT ARE YOU TEACHING MY CHILD????

People seriously need to know and understand the difference between "people-who-don't-like-each-other-at-first to lovers" "rivals to lovers" and "enemies to lovers" because they're not the same at all.
People-who-don't-like-each-other-at-first to lovers is exactly that. People who don't get along too well who eventually become lovers. There's not a rivalry between them, much less hostility (like in the enemies-to-lovers). If you like ships where the two characters disagree on some things (and that's all the tension they have) or "A" character of them flirts with the "B" character, and "B" ignores "A" or gets annoyed- until they fall in love- you don't like rivals-to-lovers nor enemies-to-lovers. You like this trope and this is nothing like the other two.
Rivals-to-lovers is the trope where two characters are rivals. They don't like each other, and both of the characters, "A" and "B", probably want to show they're the best at something. They probably hate each other, but they're not actively hurting each other because yes. And they also don't have the same hostility enemies have. They compete with each other, sure, but most of the times they don't act like enemies would. If you like ships where the two characters have tension and they don't like each other, but not enough to kill them, hurt them, or something like that, then the trope you like is rivals-to-lovers. Not enemies-to-lovers.
And finally, enemies-to-lovers. An enemy is a person who is actively opposed or hostile to someone or something. Therefore, the two characters are probably in opposite sides, in a war or something similar. They hate each other, they want to see the other hurt, and they probably want to hurt the other themselves. They want to make them suffer because they're not in the same side, and they don't think the same. They don't have the same morality, that's why they fight against each other. But sometimes, their hostility can turn into something else. Something that makes them be lovers. So if you like ships where two enemies, who actively hate each other and try to kill each other, become lovers, you like enemies-to-lovers.
To put examples:
"People-who-don't-like-each-other to lovers" ships: Hanleia. Jilly. Yes, people. They're not rivals nor enemies. So stop saying the ship is enemies-to-lovers because that's not true.
"Rivals-to-lovers" ships: Klance, Jeith/Jaith, Icemav, Lawrusso (I mentioned fanon ships because now I can't remember canon rivals-to-lovers ships). They surely don't like each other (some of them just at the beginning, because later they became friends) but they don't hate each other like an enemy would.
"Enemies-to-lovers" ships: Darklina, Reylo, Kalluzeb, Catradora. These are enemies-to-lovers ships because they were in opposite sides. And they actively hurt them, not in a "Let's see who's the best" way but in a "I want to will you" way. So yeah- they're enemies, not rivals or something else. These ships are actual enemies to lovers ships.
