Inside Massassi Temple:
Cassian: *working at desk, looks over at Kallus also working*
Kallus: *frowning*
Cassian: ?
-------10 minutes later------
Cassian: *looks up at Kallus*
Kallus: *frowning harder*
Cassian: *beginning to be concerned* ???
------10 more minutes later------
Cassian: *tentatively peeks at Kallus*
Kallus: *fully scowling*
Cassian: ??????? *distracted by incoming message*
------a few moments later-----
Cassian: *startled as Kallus suddenly shoves himself back from his desk*
Kallus: I am going to suck the stripes right off of that man! *stomps out of temple*
Cassian: ??!??!???

cassian and hera bonding over their dedication to the rebellion from a young age; bonding over knowing nothing but war their whole lives. but it's fine, because this is what matters, right? the cause. the fight. freedom for the galaxy. and understanding that they've made personal sacrifices for the sake of the cause (but they would do it all again because the fight does matter. freedom and hope matter. no matter the personal cost to them). and they want to win, they want to defeat the empire. but the idea of a future beyond the empire, beyond the rebellion is terrifying, because it will mean confronting what peace looks like. but who are they without the war? would they know what peace even looks like?
cassian and kallus bonding over having done terrible things for their respective causes (rebellion and (at the time) empire). cassian struggling to find sympathy for kallus at first because of his allegiance to the empire (he's done inexcusable things in the name of the rebellion, but not decimating planets and entire populations level of bad things). but recognizing how much it would mean if someone gave him a second chance, too. so he doesn't forget what kallus has done, but he understands kallus. in turn, they have a mutual understanding of each other as they try to heal and put those horrible things behind them for the sake of looking towards the future.

Kallus bench pressing in the rebellion.
But instead of weights, it's Cass and Ahsoka on either side of the bar, casually talking over the plans for their next mission.
