Kevin Benavides sufre fractura de femur en accidente en entrenamientos queda fuera del Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge

Un lamentable accidente ha sufrido Kevin Benavides ayer durante entrenamientos privados de KTM en la previa del Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge que inicia este fin de semana. En una caída, el salteño ha sufrido la fractura del femur derecho lo que pone en jaque su temporada en el Mundial de Rally Raid FIM W2RC. Pese a que la lesión fue estabilizada en una operación en el  Mediclinic City Hospital de Dubai, no hay fecha de retorno para Benavides, que deberá recuperarse y rehabilitarse para volver a la competencia. El argentino espera ser dado de alta del hospital en los próximos días.

“Ayer fue un día muy triste para todo el equipo con nuestro piloto campeón del Rally Dakar teniendo una caída y rompiéndose el fémur. Después de ganar el Dakar y liderar la clasificación de puntos en el campeonato mundial, Kevin se estaba preparando para enfrentarse a la segunda ronda de la serie y, con suerte, asegurar otro resultado sobresaliente. Afortunadamente, parece que la cirugía salió bien y Kevin ya comenzó su camino hacia la recuperación. Desafortunadamente, este accidente demuestra los increíbles altibajos que a veces vemos en nuestro deporte. Pero, por supuesto, le deseamos lo mejor, de parte mía y de todo el equipo, y esperamos verlo de regreso a bordo de su KTM 450 RALLY lo antes posible” declaró  Norbert Stadlbauer, Team Manager de Red Bull KTM Factory Racing.
