Kambo was certainly one of the medicines that helped me early on in that stage of my healing journey. I sat with the medicine in 2017 and despite the practitioner administering too much Hape and not giving me a warning that the Sananga would burn, the Kambo itself made such a difference for me. I was so relaxed afterwards and felt very embodied.

Adventures in Healing by Syd

It can be quite difficult to admit to oneself that we're struggling, physically, and mentally. How about keep to yourself for over 30 years that you feel disconnected and misplaced in the work you do that supports your livelihood? It's quite a conundrum because coming out with that information to others means quite possibly turning your life upside down and inside out. This has been my experience. Through a series of Kambo sessions and one Acacia ceremony, I found myself and the courage within this past year. I decided it was time to be honest about my experience: the feelings of overwhelm, the body aches, the mental fatigue and lack of focus or interest, the crying for no apparent reason, the overuse of alcohol and other substances were just too loud to ignore anymore. Not to mention not ever really advancing in my field. I felt stuck despite attempts to level up with help of mentors and certifications, nothing was working. I spent many years drinking every night and doing powdery substances to cope and numb the anxious and depressive misery that was my workweek. Years of doing that led to increased recovery times that finally made me say, enough is enough! The last night of drinking for me was 11/11/23. It took me 10 days to fully recover.

In fearful shame, I admitted to my partner that I no longer was physically or mentally capable of continuing earning income as I had been since we married 9 years ago.The overwhelm from the constant juggling of 2 roles without compensation or understanding from management on how to deal with it was wearing me thin. I was burned out and I had to do something about it instead of returning to old habits. After deciding on therapy and a serious consideration about our income, we decided that it was best for me to leave corporate lest I sacrifice my sobriety from alcohol and powders.

It just so happened that the weekend before, Anastasia and I had spent hours working on the proof for our Feelings Journal which serves that exact purpose. It was pure providence!! I'm excited to use this journal because I believe it is a great help in recognizing these patterns so that we can get to the core of the issues I'm experiencing. It's something that I wished I'd had a long time ago when I attempted therapy.

The journal that I'm using can help you as well. It is being reviewed now and will be published on Amazon.
