Im Internet wird das Bild von ihm als Clark Kent aka Kar El aka Superman sorgfältig gepflegt. Das S ist nicht das Es, das weiß man dank The Man of Steel , dem Film, in dem Supermann erläutert, dass S nicht Es bedeutet, aber Aby Warburg hätte einem das auch sagen können, denn das Verzehren ist nicht das Begehren.

Ino Augsberg zu einer Tagung über Letter(n) einzuladen, ist zwingend, alternativlos, macht kaum Sinn, das noch eine Einladung zu nennen. Er hat ein Buch über die Lesbarkeit (alphabetische Verkettung und Abfolge) des Rechts geschrieben (doppelter Genitiv!), kennt sich bestens mit den Ameisenwegen, mit wandernden und pendelnden Lettern aus, ist fleißiger Leser von Thomas Schestag und Werner Hamacher, wird oben drauf noch von André Luthardt (der grauen Großeminenz, d.h. dem aufwühlenden Maulwurf aller Les-, Sag-, Ausmal- sowie Schrei- und Schreibbarkeiten aus inzwischen Wuppertal) beraten - und falls nötig ergänzend betreut. Ino Augsberg ist ein elegant sattelfestes Reiterchen, also ein Kavallier, was Mahle und kurze Sendungen angeht. Ino ist zwar ein Mitglied der Vereinigung der deutschen Staatsrechtslehrer, aber es ist ihm verziehen worden, es hat ihm auch nicht dauerhaft geschadet, er ist immer noch ansprechbar und wie von unbekannter Stelle getrieben, mehr noch: bester Gesprächspartner unter denen, die öffentlichesc Recht lehren, auch wenn der Superlativ in der Singularität eher asketisch Sinn macht.

Wenn man Ino Augsberg auf eine Tagung einlädt, hat das die praktische Nebenwirkung, dass einige Leute, die die Tagung sonst nicht ernst nehmen, die Tagung nun doch ernst nehmen. Universität! Er ist eine anerkannte Autorität und importiert damit Anerkennung aka Honnethstoff, Ino ist sogar König Midas, wenn es darum geht, Theorie und Paris zu verseriösieren. Mir sagte also einer, mit einer Mischung aus Ungläubigkeit und ehrendem Staunen: Da kommt ja sogar ein richtiger bekannter Teilnehmer, der Augsberg! Na, vielleicht schau ich doch auch mal vorbei. Danke Ino! Mit Ino kann man übrigens auch marsianisch beepen.

Wie man Larry David für Geburtstagspartys und Jürgen Drews für Möbelhauseröffnungen bestellen kann, so kann man Ino Augsberg leider nicht für Tagungen bestellen. Man ist schon darauf angewiesen, dass ihn das Thema interessiert, da haben wir ja mal richtig Glück gehabt! Ino wird unter dem Titel S/O/L/A scriptura über Luthers Sendschreiben sprechen. Der dritte Vortrag am Montag biegt also in gewissenhafter Hinsicht von Buchstaben zu Briefen ab, aber inwieweit er von Mahlen zu kurzen Sendungen abbiegt, das kann ich noch nicht sagen, obwohl ich in seinen Text (wie in den von unserem Augustgast und dem von Spindola) schon geläuert habe.

Magst du erklären, was an der Folge „Im Bann des Voodoo“ stark in die Richtung Ableismus geht? Erschließt sich mir nicht so ganz, und ich würde gerne eine andere Perspektive dazu hören. Body horror ist ja nicht automatisch ableistisch, auch wenn leider viele Autor:innen das nicht differenzieren und daraus „omg grosteske (=nicht-able) Körper“ machen. In der Folge selbst geht es aber ja um die Symptome Herzrasen und Atemnot. Ich persönlich würde davon ausgehen, dass diese nun mal einfach unangenehm sind und die Lebensqualität beeinflussen. (Den problematischen „Voodoo“ Aspekt mal sowieso außen vor gelassen.) Ich will aber nicht ausschließen, dass ich was grundlegendes überlese, deshalb würd ich mich über deine Meinung freuen.

Gerne. Vorweg der disclaimer: so sehr ich mich dem Rummäkeln verschrieben habe, ging’s mir hier ausnahmsweise mal nicht (nur) um Kritik an Minninger; die Bemerkung zielte primär auf meine eigene Rezeptionshaltung bzw. es ging darum, mich selbst mal kritisch zu hinterfragen, wieso/weshalb/warum ich ausgerechnet diese Folge als so nahezu unerträglich gruselig empfunden hab und wie das einzuordnen ist.

Interessant, dass Dir bei der Bemerkung als erstes Al Parker in den Sinn gekommen ist, den hatte ich dabei null auf dem Schirm. Mir geht es um die Figur der Jessica Stevens, die (im Hörspiel, weil sich das Buch leider nicht in meiner Sammlung befindet; macht bei Minninger-Folgen aber keinen erheblichen Unterscheid) so eingeführt wird:

((jarring music starts playing)) „Aus Mrs. Stevens’ Mund wird nie wieder ein Laut dringen. […] Sie hat seit einem schrecklichen Verkehrsunfall keinen Kehlkopf mehr. […] Ihr Kehlkopf wurde durch eine Soundprothese ersetzt, mit deren Hilfe kann man auch ohne Kehlkopf sprechen. Allerdings mit einer unangenehmen Begleiterscheinung: […] Diese künstliche Stimme ist der eines Menschen nicht gerade ähnlich. Ich muss gestehen, dass es mich anfangs einigen Überwindung gekostet hat, mich an diese elektronischen Töne zu gewöhnen. Es klingt beinahe so, als ob ein Roboter mit einem spricht.“

Gefolgt von einigen eher unsensiblen Kommentaren von Bob, die die Body Horror-Thematik noch ein wenig mehr ausreizen. Das alles macht Minni ja mit System und instrumentalisiertt es in eigentlich fast schon perfider Weise für den von ihm angestrebten Grusel/Horroreffekt. Noch deutlicher, als mit dieser eerie Musik, die später auch immer einsetzt, wenn ‚Jessica Stevens‘ wirklich in Erscheinung tritt und spricht, hätte er es ja gar nicht markieren können. Und- sicherlich, ‘Jessica Stevens’ ist nur Needles Charade, aber das ändert erst einmal nichts an Machart und Wirkungsweise des Texts. Zumal: dass es auch gänzlich anders geht, hat Ben Nevis doch in SMS aus dem Grab gezeigt: Layla kommuniziert dort mit Hilfe eines Sprachcomputers und es hat einen komplett anderen Effekt. Klar, weil Nevis nicht das Horror-Genre bedienen will und sich keiner so mehr oder weniger billigen Tricks bedienen muss.

Bei mir, die immer schon extrem auf Soundeffekte reagiert hat (see: mich gruselt’s auch bei strahlendem Sonnenschein im Mann ohne Kopf, wenn sich in der Disco die Atmosphäre ändert und stimmenverzerrt der Satans-DJ angekündigt wird), hat das damals komplett gezogen (kann ich im Jugendalter so stehen lassen, finde ich jetzt allerdings, wie gesagt, spannend, weil ich a) deutlicher sehen kann, mit welchen Urängsten von mir hier gespielt wird und b) das definitiv nicht unkritisch hinnehmen kann und möchte.)

Übrigens vllt. allgemein ein interessanter Gedankenanstoß: Wie setze ich Body Horror in einem non-visuellen resp. rein auditivem Medium um, wenn ich dabei nicht auf der rein deskriptiven Schiene verharren will? In dieser Hinsicht war Minninger sicherlich nicht gänzlich unkreativ hier.

Es wird in gewisser Weise aber noch mal heikler, weil Jessica Stevens ja nicht von Nico König gespielt wird (aka William Needle), sondern von Lothar Behrendt, der wirklich so eine Stimmprothese nutzt (Minni hat den auf dem Kiez aufgegabelt bzw kannte den daher, diese verrückte Geschichte hat er mal in nem Interview erzählt).

„Body horror ist ja nicht automatisch ableistisch, auch wenn leider viele Autor:innen das nicht differenzieren“ ist ein exzellenter Einwurf- und da kommen wir letztlich dann doch wieder irgendwie full circle und landen bei Minninger-Kritik, denn differenziert und reflektiert recherchieren und schreiben ist seine Sache nicht. Minninger schreibt das, was man in Fanfiction-Kreisen wohl als „ „ Idfic bezeichnen würde aka was ihn grad umtreibt und er gern mal ausprobieren möchte im engen Korsett der DDF-Krimis. (Und ich fress nen Besen, wenn das, was ihn hier und evtl. auch in Karten des Bösen inspiriert hat, nicht u. a. die Larry Brent-Folge „Die Schlangenköpfe des Dr. Gorgo“ – Bild bitte selber googeln, ich will hier niemanden verstören – war, die damals ja sogar ne Zeit lang auf dem Index gelandet sind.) Alles andere wird dafür schön verbogen. Was schon deutlich schiefer gegangen ist als in Bann des Voodoo (die, das sei mir als Abschlussbemerkung vllt. noch gestattet, eine Folge ist, die NIE aufhören wird, mich zu faszinieren. Was da alles an Kuriositäten und Craziness und Absurditäten zusammenläuft… absolutely unparalleled. Sowas konnten sie auch nur in den 1990ern bringen, bevor die große Welle des Fames sie erfasst hat.)
