Loockwood Fandom: PLAN OF ATTACK!!!
Tumblr media
I have been a part of 2 major campaigns to save my favorite shows plus contribute to some minor ones. It took years for us to save the shows which was only possible because they were animated. Everything we are doing now was also done back then. But Lockwood is live action with aging actors/actresses; it has to be save sooner. We won our battle back then but this one will be harder. However, we have one golden opportunity that other campaigns did not have.
Let me lay the field down for you. If you google Netflix cancellations you will see dozen of articles written over the years and you would basically be reading the same article over and over: Despite high viewership and reviews Netflix cancels another show, does not advertise/promote enough, does not want to pay residuals for shows past 3rd seasons, Fans/subscribers not happy, and criticism about Netflix playbook and questioning it’s wisdom. Not to mention that Damn quote “we have never cancelled a successful series”. You can also find articles of Fandoms efforts trying to save the show just like us. But it’s become the Same article over and over. We need something new to be reported on.
You know what is also being reported? The WGA strike. With the strike going in to it’s 3rd week most of the basic reporting is done and now it’s just repeat of picket lines. But we can change the narrative. We can give the news something new and different to report on.
There is a WGA strike fund you can donate to support the strikers but more importantly you can tribute your donation to someone. Someone named Lockwood & Co.
It doesn’t have to be a large donation. Let’s say we get 400 fans to donate $5 (+transaction fee) in tribute to Lockwood. That’s $2000 US and 400 tributes. Now let’s say those same fans do this 4 days in a row. That’s $8000 in funds plus 1600 tributes. This might gain attention by the WGA and strikers. They might feel compel to comment on it. They might want to say something about it as they stand protesting in front of Netflix. And there’s your new Headline.
Entertainment blogs will report how the growing frustration of Netflix cancellations has now lead to donations to WGA. The movement will hopefully gain traction and more news will be written. Other fandoms might join in for revenge of their cancellations. If we are successful a news broadcast is done showing the picket line but also showing clips of the show. That will get the show attention it’s never been given before. Attention that will hopefully get it back on the Top Ten. That would be another headline and even more attention.
You can click here to make the donation. But don’t forget to Tribute to Lockwood & Co.
Edit to add the lowest donation you can make is $5.
Tumblr media
Make any size donation you want (don’t forget the transaction fee). Make a one time small donation. Make a large donation. Make multiple small donations.
It would really help if other people can blast this idea on other social media platforms. Make Memes, videos, TikTocks, Instagram posts, etc.
A lot of people are hurt by Netflix cancellations but Netflix has never cared no matter how many angry letters, comments and posts are made. It's the same old song and dance. But now We actually have a chance to hurt Netflix back in a way it never has been. Let the cancellation of Lockwood & Co be the straw that broke the camels back. Lets be reckless enough.

I can't belive it's been a year.
It's been an entire year since I woke up to the awful news that my favorite show ever had been canceled after only one season, eight episodes of pure mystery, action, tension and comfort. And entire year since I texted my friend in tears and spent the whole morning mourning the loss of a treasure I had only just begun to know. An entire year since they said this show wasn't good enough, and we said yes.
It.
Is.
We have accomplished so much in just one year. The campaigns and the petitions and cons yes, but also all the new fans, new family members, and new memories made within our shared home of 35 Portland Row. I've never been so fond of and so proud to be in a fandom than in this one. We're not perfect, sometimes we slip up or go too far or receded into ourselves a little too far. But that's just proof that we're human, and being human is a truly wonderful thing.
I'm so glad I could find this family when I did and that you've stayed with me as I moved across the world and seen it shatter into a million pieces. Wouldn't be the same person without Lockwood and Lucy and Geroge and Flo and Holly and Kipps and the Skull and all of you.
So an enormous, mountain full of thank yous to the wonderful Jonathan Stroud for first creating this world we all hold so dear, and then thank you to everyone at Complete Fiction for bringing those words into form and light. And finally thank you to all of LockNation. You've made this year since the cancelation not only bearable, but fun. Joyous, even in times of grief and hopelessness and stagnation. You have always been there, and I thank you so much for that. You are the world to me.
Let's keep being just reckless enough together 💙🖤🧡

Lucy and Lockwood realize that there is an intruder at Portland Row.
Tried different coloring options with this one and failed, so here it is in black and white.

So, I’m feeling incredibly down about the news that NF has a new show coming out and it looks suspiciously like they dumped our show for DBD.
It’s hard to see any positivity at the moment. I worry that our numbers just aren’t what they need to be to make it worthwhile for another streamer to pick it up.
I also have my suspicions that NF are such a*holes that they would block it any way possible.
👻BUT then I remember that they only have streaming rights.
👻I remember that Rachel Prior was fighting for this to be made for 10 years.
👻That it took 3 years of writing and prepping to get the first season to air.
👻That it received critical acclaim from multiple quarters.
👻I remember that Georgina Stroud backs us and has openly said she is marching alongside us in the fight for S2.
Tumblr media
And most importantly, I remember that CF have not yet said, "all bets are off guys, it’s over".
I know we have the books📚. In a way that makes it worse because to see the full story brought to life would have been beyond amazing.
So I’ll keep hoping and praying and manifesting and doing whatever I can to do my part to see our deepest wishes come true. That means actively tweeting, sending emails and supporting our wonderful LockNation anyway I can 🤗💕
Because this story is worth nothing less than 100% effort.
Just reckless enough 🖤💙🧡⚔👻

What if instead of Lockwood book POV we got a George one? I’d die it’d be so funny like he’d be roasting all of them the ENTIRE TIME and stating straight facts. I need this.
I’m mainly saying this because Lockwood would be a totally unreliable POV cause he’d be like: “Lucy this, Lucy that, all Lucy 😍”
even Lucy’s POV is almost unreliable for all the facts lmao and we know George wouldn’t leave us without them to the dot.

In all honesty, I don't think Lockwood and Co will be saved. There is too little hope for me. Especially since the petition is no longer really progressing. (although I still hope for a miracle)
Hey Anon! Thanks for your honesty and for sending this in, because I'm sure there are many, many people out there who feel this way too.
First off, in case anyone is feeling guilty for not being optimistic -- there's nothing to feel guilty for. Like all Save the Show efforts, we're up against some pretty big odds, and that can be incredibly daunting. Add burnout to that, and it's easy to see how people end up there. It's why we encourage y'all to take breaks and rest -- there's nothing like unending, 24-hour-a-day efforts to make one want to throw up their hands and throw in the towel.
However, I (your humble tumblr mod) think looking at the rate of growth of the petition as evidence of Failure is taking the wrong tack.
In the first five days or so -- even up to the first week, what we saw was Exponential Growth; people who'd seen the show were finding the Organization efforts and getting involved; fans of the books who had no idea that the show had even been made were discovering, watching, and joining our ranks. The petitions blew up because no one had signed them yet. The growth was huge and rapid because, well, we were starting from zero.
Fast forward to today, two weeks + a day and a half later, and we're not seeing thousands added to our ranks every day -- because that'd be impossible. Despite what social media platforms like to say, not everyone is on social media -- in fact, vast numbers people aren't, including those who watch and love the show/books.
The petition still grows every day, which is great news -- it means that we have more people than just a one- or two-hundred die-hards. A few hundred die-hards is what every fandom has and, to be frank, it's not enough. The die-hards are the wonderful graphics makers, the video editors, the johnny-on-the-spot organizers (and, in a small way, the mods of this tumblr/twitter), and they're so, so important.
But far more important is the layman that comes in much larger numbers, watching and supporting and signing but not spending every day tweeting. Every show to do well needs a broad audience, and with our slowed but still steady growth, that's what we're demonstrating to CF, Stroud, Cornish, and the streaming networks we're reaching out to. The votes in our awards and polls shows greater numbers than just a handful of devoted fans, as does our ability to have trended for 16 days straight, as do the many, many articles that are written and are still being written about #SaveLockwoodandCo. We don't just have the core of a hundred people -- we have the layman as well, and our stats demonstrate it.
If you're worried because we're not growing exponentially, I can confidently say to not let that worry you too much. Every campaign loses exponential growth -- that's not a problem, that's just math.
We're thrilled to hear that you hope for a miracle, Anon, because hope is a very, very powerful thing. We hope for a miracle too -- in that a miracle to us would be the show immediately picked up, given an unlimited budget, and filming starts next Tuesday.
But we don't think that the show being saved is a miracle -- we don't think it's unlikely at all. These things take time, and with time very naturally comes worry and uncertainty. If we do nothing, then guilt makes a home with the worry and uncertainty, and that's not good for anyone's brain.
It may not be renewed tomorrow; it may not be for another month or three. But, as a fandom, we're passionate, creative, and invested, and we're being supported (not led, luckily, but supported) in big and small ways by the cast, crew, and creators.
If you can't muster up optimism and faith today, Anon, that's totally fine -- feel free to lean on ours, if you want. We all spend worried and anxious moments every now and again in this fight for the show -- that's not a failure; that's just life. But good things are happening every day. Eventually, those good things will spin themselves into a ball with the greatest thing of all -- the announcement of the show being saved.

To anyone and everyone who helped put ClusterCon together:
Y'all are amazing. That was the most fun I have had in such a long time. It was so well put together and by gosh you made me SOB at the end with that video!
So thank you. You've reignited the fervor of my love and obsession for all things Lockwood and Co. and have shown me that this is more than just a fandom. We really are like a family, and it is together that we'll all keep staying just reckless enough.

True to form I'm a day late but happy 10th anniversary to The Screaming Staircase! (And thank you Linnie for your post which reminded me this is a thing and inspired me to post my own)
Lockwood & Co as a show had been on my radar pretty much since it launched - it must have popped up on my Netflix at some point, and I already had a couple of mutuals posting about it. I saw and liked the gifsets with the spirit of "I don't even go here but this looks cool", finally in March I went "wait, why don't I watch this? There's literally no barrier beyond my own stubbornness" and thank goodness I did.
I still cannot get over how deeply I connected with the show, and the way it taps into everything I'd have loved at 13 or 18 alike and is equally enjoyable now at 25. The unabashed love shown between the Iron Trio is so refreshing and sincere, and it gives me hope for my own place within the group I've chosen as my second family. The world that Jonathan Stroud has constructed is amazing and I would love it wherever it was set, but like my other favourite shows/universe (Morseverse) being so intrinsically linked with Oxford that I can spend days there just wandering between locations I love that Lockwood & Co has a deliberate and well-established base in London. A few months ago I passed through St Pancras alone and was so ecstatic to be sharing in a little of Lucy's journey, and just last week I excitedly pointed out Sidcup on a station departure board when I was down there with my brother.
Of course, I couldn't talk about Lockwood & Co's impact without expressing my eternal gratitude to the show and the fandom for reigniting my creativity. I haven't finished it yet, but I'm further into The Screaming Staircase than I have been in a book for years. I'd been in the most intense artistic slump, having barely done anything creative in months, but then I was able to dedicate a good 10 hours to my Lockwood portrait and close to that on my unfinished George one, which in turn gave me the energy for other projects. In 2020-2022 I published just under 10,000 words of fic across 2 fandoms, plus about 2500 words earlier this year of one I'm still undecided on posting. In the 6 months since I started watching Lockwood & Co, I have written a whopping 46,610 words of published fic, with about 750 words towards some of the 12 requests I have yet to finish (side note: thank you so much to everyone who has been patient with all these unfinished requests, I know it's been months for some but I promise they'll all get finished eventually!) I cannot even begin to fathom that number - that's nearly 50,000 words, written entirely of my own accord, when by comparison my 3 years of essays for my degree probably amounted to a very forced 30,000 words. All that fic I owe to the beautifully characters created by Jonathan Stroud & brought to life by Ruby, Cameron and Ali, but I also couldn't have done it without the overwhelming support of everyone who has read, liked, commented, reblogged and requested. There aren't enough words to tell you all how grateful I am, and this post would be a mile long if I named everyone personally, but I wanted to take the time to thank some of the people who have made my experience so special.

If I've missed anyone important I'm so sorry, but I love you all and am so glad to have had this time with you! Happy 10th birthday to The Screaming Staircase and the wonderful fandom it's led to 🫶
Just reckless enough.
Love, Merry ❤️ xx
