I will die on the "Firefly is SAM" hill, there is a lot of evidence I won't go into in this post that points towards them being one in the same or, at the very least, connected to each other in some way. I mean, look at them!

They literally have the same color scheme! They also follow a modified 60-30-10 rule, that means the amount of each color present in the design, I would say they have roughly a 60-20-15-5 ratio, the colors being silver, black, turquoise and yellow/gold, respectively. There's no way this is not on purpose, the HSR designers know what they're doing and wouldn't repeat the same color scheme for two characters if it weren't for us to draw parallels between them
