If your Luke Skywalker isn't bisexual, he's out of character. He was, canonically, in love with Leia for two movies, maybe three. You can say he got over her, sure, but he was canonically in love with a woman. Like, hard. Like. Star Wars might not have happened if he hadn't fallen in love with her hologram the first/second time he saw her. He can "swear off women" after discovering the girl he was crazy about ended up being his sister, sure, but you can't erase that he was crazy about her.

I mean, this is the internet, the straight characters are going to be drawn and written having gay relationships, the AroAce characters are going to do the same by giving them a very active romantic life, and none of that should matter because this is content MADE by fans, It's not Canon. I think we would all be more at peace if those who enjoy making content about Moon having a partner didn't impose the idea on others or try to justify it. Suffice it to say that this is an AU. Do not waste time or effort trying to convince others that the idea is better than the original, will not succeed.

LIKEWISE, it is just as important that those who DO NOT like couples content simply IGNORE or block the blogs that produce it. Because going to artists' or writers' publications just to make them feel bad because they like a ship is not cool.

This is internet dude, if you're sad because there isn't enough material of Moon being an AroAce, do it yourselves. Defend the canon you like by making content and not crying bothering those who make contrary content

(Waddles in) I was just explaining why I don't like solarmoon. It's not a very big deal. But also, excusing everything with "but it's the internet" is stupid. Added on, the Aspec community has every right to be upset about people shipping moon for the sake of shipping moon. If a character was confirmed to be YOHR sexuality, but people around you disregarded it or used the excuse that it's a spectrum to ship how THEY want to, it's just. Bad. Like you COULD ship them, but if you're going to do that while keeping that they're aroace I'd expect you to handle it while acknowledging that at many times, aro people just don't fall head over heels in love. If anything it takes time. Or sometimes we do, but the feeling dies off when it's reciprocated. The problem comes with the fact that they do not acknowledge it at all and that they ignore it.

Also. I'm not crying or whining about it. I never EVER liked Solarmoon but I've never made much of a big deal out of it. The most was making a post on Twitter saying if you ship solarmoon I'll probably be unfollowing? I understand that shipping discourse between these two robots is so, so weird, but it doesn't change the fact that I personally feel very uncomfortable around it because it seems like incest to me.

I already have the Solarmoon tag blocked and I was explaining to the other anon why I don't like the ship. That's all <3 I also have. Thoughts. About the first thing you said and characters being hc different sexualities but that's a topic for another day.

aemond's clearly obsessed with never looking weak, he doesn't feel like he can be weak in front of his family - even his mom. alicent can't offer emotional support to her children (maybe a little to helaena), so they find it elsewhere.

aemond prob view this woman as "beneath him", someone he can use and vent to because what is she gonna do? it doesn't matter if she sees him being weak because she's inconsequential in his world.

aegon and aemond are sooooo affection starved. they do feel, they need to feel loved. they need comfort but lack the emotional intelligence to reach out and form those connections.

It was honestly very tame. I was expecting Homelander level of build up and pay off, but there are good shows and then there's...HOTD. Besides, the fandom is already flustered over this little scene, which for a canon stuffed with incest and non-con and dub-con and gore and violence, a large number of its fans have surprisingly surface-level intelligence/empathy. I do think darker topics require more of both these traits to be consumed well but the show itself chooses not to go full on with them so I'm not surprised the fandom is wrapped in cotton wool and spoon fed like a baby.

And I totally agree with your view on the madame. I am not a fan of terming her his "abuser" the way some people have been doing. Using words frivolously makes them lose all meaning and impact.

In what sense is she an abuser exactly? In the sense that you feel protective over Aemond, and this middle-aged woman is not young or attractive enough to be a satisfying self-insert? And I won't be told this isn't the case with some fans, because some of them definitely have on horse blinkers.

Logically, she is not an abuser. She looked to me like she didn't even want to be there and was disengaged from him mentally/emotionally. He very clearly told her not here and was in control of the situation, suggesting the experience is meticulously tailored to his wants and needs. The last time they met when he was thirteen, sure it's gross that a boy that young is going through something like that, but guess who brought him there? Aegon. The madame turning down the patronage of a royal prince would make her insane if you go by in-world logic. Royal patronage attracts more customers and more money for her girls. It's common sense. Do you know where her real priority was? Getting him to be aware of the smallfolk the next time he loses his temper and does something stupid (since he's already done one stupid thing).

If anything, Aegon might be termed the abuser and the madame was the tool he used, but even then, he was also taught that this behaviour was okay because someone took him to a brothel at 13. Just because he accepted and conformed to this way of living, doesn't mean it wasn't wrong that he went through it too.

Anyway, tip of the iceberg, but there you see - spoon feeding all this context to an audience that is largely unequipped to dive deeper into uncomfortable topics in the span of an hour is impossible.

I'm gonna keep it simple and do $20 per thousand words, but there's not a minimum word count. That's $0.02 per word lol. When you describe the fic ill give you an estimate of how many words I can do it in, and we can adjust. What’s your OTP for your Muse(s)?

i absolutely cannot say i have one ship that i favour over any others for any of my muses. do i have ships that i am occasionally more feral over? yes, absolutely, but that is always down to ongoing discussions, plotting, etc with my ship partner(s), and it doesn't mean another of my ships isn't going to take the Feral Spot in a couple of days.

also, having one favourite is just boring and restricting. going feral over multiple ships is way more fun.

What are you willing to RP when it comes to shipping?

asides from the obvious themes and tropes which i shouldn't have to list but will anyway (age inappropriate, teacher/student, incest, dub/non-con, a/b/o, etc), i'm fairly open to a lot of things - my only condition is that things have to be discussed. i can't jump into a ship without at least establishing the basics, because i don't auto-ship even if i already enjoy the idea of a ship between those characters.

How large does the age gap have to be to make it uncomfortable?

as already said above, age inappropriate ships are a big no. minors are only shipped with minors of the same age range and only in a light way, and i refuse to "age up" anyone for the sake of shipping.

but in regards to the adult muses, generally it depends on a few factors. for example: general setting of canon, the species' involved, etc. when you write characters who are thousands of years old, age gaps don't really mean the same thing. in that case, as long as the characters involved are of similar emotional maturity, i'm fine with it.

Are you selective when shipping?

yes, absolutely. i have to be comfortable with the other person (or people, if we're doing poly ships) as well as comfortable with the ship itself, and there has to be chemistry between both muns and muses, otherwise it's... just not going to work. i also want to avoid being 'collected' for shipping, because i actually like to develop deep and complex dynamics with people and not just empty ships based solely on aesthetics.

How far do steamy moments have to go before they’re considered NSFW?

if you're going into detail, that's too far. it's really that simple. suggestive elements, insinuations, implied actions, they're all safe. but if you're giving a blow-by-blow (pun intended) explanation of what's going on..... yeah, that needs the tag.

Who are other muses you ship your muse with?

gestures at all of my ships ????? i ship my muses with whoever i end up shipping them with. i don't have expectations for ships, and i actually treasure the ones that spring from absolutely nowhere.

Does one have to ask to ship with you?

yes, absolutely. i don't auto-ship and i need to actually know you want to ship bc i'm not psychic and i won't make assumptions based on "hints" bc i probably won't pick up on them in the first place. be direct. the worst that'll happen is i'll say no.

How often do you like to ship?

how often is a weird question tbh. i ship when i ship ??? i do enjoy shipping and developing those bonds, but there's not like... a set pace to how often i like to ship. it's not my focus for writing here. i suppose once i have a ship going, i do like to delve into it as often as possible, whether that's through actual writing or just discussing the dynamic with the relevant people.

Are you multiship?

of course! i like to be open to all kinds of dynamics! however i am very selective on which dynamics i'll pursue more than one iteration of - they generally have to be different enough from one another that there's no chance of overlap or reusing of elements or ideas, and i won't ever do more than 2-3 of the same combination for that reason. for the most part, a number of my ships are unofficially exclusive in that regard (but not actually exclusive - yet). any ships that are a combination of characters you'd never normally think to throw together generally fall under that category.

neither? i'm not ship obsessed because i'm not here just to write ships, but i do really enjoy writing and developing those dynamics when they come along. so... somewhere in between, i guess??

1. The character everyone gets wrong: SONIC!!!! I know things can be read differently by different people but I really feel like Sonic's aroaceness is a HUGE part of his character. Like it's so fucking obvious but he's the mAiN ChaRAcTer so we gotta pair him up with fucking someone. The only Sonics that don't fit this is Boom Sonic who is obviously divorced and Archie Sonic who gets WAY too many bitches. And I chose to ignore that one fucking line in Frontiers. It just... is there. It came out of no where. Sonic since when did you... anyways. OKAY SO. Sonic has really never been interested in anyone, ever. He is clearly uncomfortable/disinterested in Amy's advancements and their relationship really shines when he's FRIENDS with her. BECAUSE HE'S AROACE. HE DOESN'T HAVE ROMANTIC FEELINGS. I MEAN. SHE HAS NO UNIQUE CHARACTER TRAITS. Amy is a very good leader and people person, Whisper is patient and has that mysterious past (Not royalty but still), and Tangle has that energy and incredible fighting skill. Oh and Tails has the tech savvy. Like you could change her character but then it's not Sally coming back anymore, so what's the point there. She's just boring. I'm sorry Sally enjoyers but I really can't see her appeal. Even in Archie she was overshadowed (First comes to mind is Charmy was the hidden royalty, Rotor is good with electronics), which isn't her fault but she's a character supposed to be entertaining, nothing about her was. I guess the appeal is what can you can add to her character? But I'm not a big fan of those types. So yeah I saw her too much when I already didn't like her and most of it was wanting her back. Which wouldn't make any fucking sense. And like let them rest, they've had like 20 years to shine. Let the IDW characters shine. (TANGLE I LOVE YOU TANGLE!!!!!)

To be clear, I'm not pro-purity culture. I just- this one stings and I have to literally curate my experience so hard because of it

I can't stand when it's used as "code" for "queer experience" either because it's just positioning queer as "unnatural / evil," and that bothers the heck outta me when they're equated. Inappropriate boundary crossing, grooming, and abuse =/= insta-queer. It's like HMMM. The way ppl stan the crowley hookup when it's a shows canon incest kink interest squicks the fuck outta me and like...the whole Demon!Dean is a study in disinhibition! Disinhibition was shown as very evil / shameful / uncomfortable experience for Dean, like, the entirety of season 10...Sam even tries to comfort him about it. But because Crowley-Dean supports those sides of Dean ppl want in their ships, they overlook that aspect of it.

There's also the American-ness of howling at the moon and total "I do what I WANT" as being a good thing, when it's clearly shown as...not. There's gotta be balance, man.

Reduced inhibition is OFTEN used as circumvention of consent, as Dean recounts in his John-and-the-bar story. And disinhibitions are ofc not always a reflection of true self. I'm thinking of a neuro unit, where an injured TBI survivor hits on his granddaughter. Is that his "true personality?" Of course not! It's a loss of free will, judgment, and choice due to the injury and/or disinhibition.

And this is a show about free will, after all.

Drinking and drugging tend to ‘loosen you up’ by reducing inhibitions. But they remove your judgment and CHOICE about things, too. That's not necessarily free will. Reduced inhibitions can be enjoyable, but they can also create risks and dangers. Our inhibitions serve to keep us acting within an acceptable threshold; reducing these inhibitions can push you past the threshold.

Drug addiction is sometimes potrayed as "freeing" but ofc that isn't the complete story. Even so, the show doesn't agree that the punishment fits the crime. Like Crowley, Randy is complex, and he has real feelings and emotions for his relationships!

[Castiel grabs her arm, and she finally stops kicking. Cas leads her from the room. They walk downstairs, and Claire moves away from Cas.]

The devs had an animation of Leon and Ashley holding hands mocapped and rendered up because one of the directors liked the idea of it, but the other director didn't like it, so it ultimately got cut.

There's been so much false information spread and someone in your replies seemed to take the idea that they are all canonically related at face value that I felt like just being blunt. The way you separated the points and said "logically, they are incestual" came off as you saying "this is incest if you use logic because like I said in the last point MK could be their kid even if it is not confirmed and that is bad". Maybe I am touchy about others spreading false information in this fandom because on other platforms some of it has gotten shippers of harmless ships harassed or made Chinese fans uncomfortable enough to just leave and warn people to stay away from fans of the show.

I know flame and ship wars have always been a thing but i do genuinely miss when it was largely considered Rude and Unnecessary to put hate in a ship's tags. Nowadays everybody has to have some sort of moral fucking issue to justify not liking a pairing, and then it's like, hey, if you disagree with me, you're an asshole! or a creep! or Dangerous even! let me tell you a little secret, kids. the memories of one of my old, long-since-canceled fandoms from back when i didn't know better and just had fun. which is what fandom is meant to be, by the way: harmless fun. i used to be really into Hetalia. and the shipping arguments we had? majority of the time, they didn't bring up the incest. they didn't care about the abuse, they didn't care about sexuality, half of us didn't bother giving a shit about age because the characters were all immortal anyways. the ship wars were about Dynamics. it wasn't "your ship is bad and you're a bad person for liking it", it was "MY ship is BETTER and you should ship it Instead." we knew this shit didn't matter. we were passionate, sure, we got just as riled up as y'all, but we weren't making moral judgements about it. that kind of argument- the kind i see everyone making CONSTANTLY now- was largely considered a low blow. unimportant. making this more than it was. shipping is not activism. you are not a better person for only sticking with the purest and most canon ships. and you are not less bigoted for defending your ships against the Tainted ones. and frankly, some of you have a very strange way of determining canon. If something isn't stated, your assumptions are headcanon. age. gender. sexuality. the intentions between interactions. all of it is to be carefully considered, and just because there's an implication that would give You or some marginalized group a little more representation does not automatically mean that IS how it is. and no, the author saying it on twitter doesn't ACTUALLY count. it's a nice bit of validation, but it's not canon, and it's certainly not good representation. it needs to be stated in the text. and sometimes, you really gotta consider lategame. this piece of media you're talking about; is it Long? is it Old? were there Pauses between updates? how possible is it for someone to have built up a strong headcanon that means a lot to them before finding out that the canon information negates that? is it really fair for you to hold people to a stern standard for something that they won't see for a long time? hell, is it a spoiler to do so? and i get it. stepping down from that can mean uncomfortable things. it can mean accepting that a headcanon that's really, REALLY important to you isn't proper canon, and that other people don't HAVE to agree with you. that hurts. it can mean letting people support some things you consider disgusting, unknowingly, and make supportive Content while they don't know, only to be hit like a brick when they finally find out. that's deeply uncomfortable. it can mean hearing people talk about a character in a way that feels viscerally wrong to you. i get it. it sucks. but when you impose your will onto other fandomers to avoid these feelings, you make the whole place a worse enviornment for everbody. and frankly, a lot of you hurt yourselves in the process. you focus so hard on the stuff that upsets you, you forget to enjoy the things you do like. i'm seeing homestuck get some life again. and it's reminding me of all this same discourse and how it's almost guaranteed to be Worse this time around. so let me say, from the bottom of my heart, Ship, and Let Ship. Don't Like, Don't Read. Use the block button Often. Learn the difference between Squick and Trigger. Learn the difference between Canon and Headcanon. And remember to focus on having fun. not getting upset that other people are having fun the wrong way.

Also speaking of something I mentioned in an ask - learning there was soft 'discourse' between Sun and Moon shippers and people that see them as siblings smacked me right back to my Vocaloid fandom days and the discourse (still?) going around about Rin and Len. In other words, I could not believe people were still being this silly about headcanons. The next time you get angry at a shipper, or disgruntled at someone who sees Sun and Moon as siblings ONLY remember - they're neither of these things in canon! Headcanon = not actually true/real for the Daycare Attendant, but you like the idea/are choosing to believe that's how things are. They're not designed as unique individuals in canon, either to be siblings/twins or to be non-related lovers! You are, technically, both wrong. But! The power of headcanon means that whatever you want to be true, can be true, and can exist separately and harmoniously with headcanons that contradict your headcanon. Even if it's more popular to see them one way versus another, nobody gets to 'rule' the fanon interpretations and make it 'basically canon' because canon for YOU doesn't mean actually canon and never will.

I understand, I get it, so block the OP who posts the ship art or even the person reblogging the ship art if you REALLY can't stand to follow them for other content because of this opposing headcanon. You don't have to expose yourself to content that makes you feel bad. You don't have to fight everyone who makes this content when the content is actually harmless and you should learn when the content is actually harmless, it just isn't what you like. "But OP, this person who sees them as siblings was being really rude about shippers, I have to reblog and argue with them-" Shhhh, no. Block. Block this person. hmmm I guess in the same way that I balance scene and summary, to wit: by instinct? There's a weighting that each story needs that changes depending on length/genre/style/topic, but you need to hit it right to make the story feel how you want it to. This story feels basically how I wanted it to, so I guess the balance was okay (because if it were rebalanced it would be a different story). Here so much of the story is inside Sam's head (and Dean's), and so there's a lot more that just -- exists on that level. Thought inside the dream, thought as Sam moves through the dazed newly multipart world, thought as Sam sits nervous across from Dean at tables and knows too much. Another, longer version of this story would've included a hunt (which I guess means it would need to move to another spot in canon) and there would've been a lot more action to provide breathing room from the intro(outro)spection, but correspondingly there would need to be more of everything -- more decision-making from Sam, more destabilizing moments from Dean. That makes it a different story, though, that doesn't focus on this one thing -- this scenario, ha -- and would make it more about say incest panic, or more about John, or bringing in more of the fear of freak, etc -- and so I kept it pulled back more into thought, to keep it tight, and here, in the motel room and in Dean's head. But it's interesting to see where thoughts jolt back into real-world movement -- Dean interrupting a summarized tide with cheesesteaks -- because if you stay too curled into those navelgaze moments the story has no vibe at all.

Mindreading is really not my thing. It used to be, more -- oh, easy answers! love discoveries! -- but increasingly it seems like a shortcut. But what's s2 of spn without tangled up miseries and no shortcuts at all? Of course Sam's powers are a fecund exploration space, but the tropes of the Psychic Protagonist actually fit against him a little uncomfortably, don't you think? I don't want magic jedi witch Sam, because it's important that he's bodied and meaty and holding a gun and punching someone in the face. A matched model to Dean, which is of course the point. I find it interesting that in Krip's original Luke/Han model he did creep toward that but he kept pulling back, which shows good instincts (or at least good decisions brought on by a tiny budget, which I'll count as the same thing). So, Sam has visions; he's not Matilda. For the best! But -- of course, the job here was to make him more magic, and I'm obedient, so he's more magic -- but it's sure tf not easy because canon isn't easy and it doesn't, in fact, help at all. Makes it worse. Dean's going to get something he thinks he wants but when he realizes that Sam's doing it for the reasons he's doing it that will cause... so much damage, lol. Like so much damage. (There's an echo-story there that I won't write but is horribly wonderful, I'm realizing: not, for once, Dean letting someone have what they want because it's an easy way to manage expectations and move us all along -- but instead someone doing it to him, and how much intensely more that would hurt him. Proof again of not being wanted but of being a problem to solve. Oh No!)

Good opportunity to look the thing over, since I hadn't gone back to it in a long while. Maybe this:

He spends the day casing details of Ava's life, job and fiancé and family history and any single second where her life might have brushed against the dark, and at night his dreams are a flood. Black water, rising. Dean, terrified, and his skin that kind of white that comes from a flare of too much exposure, and his eyes dark hollows, and the bones standing out in his hands, clutching at his head. On the fourth night of everything the same choking claustrophobia Dean turns his face and Sam sees that he's bleeding, from the ears and from the corner of his mouth, and the blood is so dark it looks black, too, and Dean covers his mouth with one hand and then though the surrounding water is the same endless expanse the boat becomes that cabin where Azazel rode their dad's body, the shift seamless and unexplained in the way of dreams, and Dean's got a hole in his stomach, the blood flooding out onto the dry wood of the boat/cabin floor, and he puts lax fingers against it that don't stop the bleeding at all, and Sam wakes up that time and has to scramble for the bathroom, retching, although when he clutches the sides of the sink nothing comes up and his mouth just tastes like—saltwater.

and just how the dream courses through the whole thing, brackish and worrying and symbolic-but-still-dreamlike. The ending is maybe a little Written and obvious but it works (I think) for how the whole story is a step removed, dreamy, uncertainties in it. This thing that Dean wants is not a good idea but it's what they've got. Nightmares rising but not yet taking over. (That'll come at the end of this year.)
