Safer – Just Jinger
Bootleg Album – Just Jinger Just Jinger’s ‘Safer’ first appeared on their 2004 album, ‘Bootleg’. It would then appear again in 2009 on the ‘Milk & Honies EP’ and then once more in 2010 when they had changed the spelling of their name to Just Jinjer when it appeared on an eponymously entitled album. I am not sure about the ‘Milk & Honies’ version, but the ‘Just Jinjer’ version is slightly…

"ok spurgie if you're mad at jinger & jeremy for the anti-choice thing then you gotta be mad at all of them bc that's what they all believe" ok well yes and no because 1. in my heart and spirit I am always mad at all these people 24/7
but 2. with the state of abortion rights in my country I actually do feel it's necessary to differentiate between the people who disagree with abortion/other issues and that's the extent of it and the people who are going out of their way to promote and fund anti-choice rhetoric, which is exactly what the Vuolos were doing
and they didn't even just make an appearance at this event and that's that, they made a point to share about it multiple times on their social media accounts, which yea imo is worse. even if you make the argument that all fundies do this in their spare time (debatable), putting it on your social media to your hundreds of thousands of followers is trying to get that much more additional support for your cause. it's throwing all of your weight behind the issue.
the fact that Jeremy and Jinger try so hard to market themselves as "modern" and "progressive" compared to where they came from just adds another layer of anger for me, especially where Jinger's concerned.
she gets to profit off of her story about escaping the control of a Christian fundamentalism while simultaneously helping the same brand of fundamentalism exert control over every woman in America, at a federal level. like whether she's too dense to see the parallels or too cowardly to confront them, i don't care. it's just awful in a way that one of her sisters use a prolife hashtag once every two years isn't.
#she can keep her artificial depth and ghost written books#and this isn't letting jeremy off the hook in any way but i feel like ive gone in on him more consistently over the years lol#jinger vuolo#anti-choice#streams of consciousness#also nobody asked me this i was just being my own devil's advocate

Jinger Duggar had a D&C because of pregnancy complications. She won't call it an abortion. Which, given her upbringing (even though she tries to pretend she's so beyond it) is understandable.
But People magazine ALSO won't call it an abortion.
When a D&C is the first medical treatment listed by anti-abortionists to "prove" abortion is evil.
I have sympathy for Jinger having to end a pregnancy. I do NOT have sympathy for Jinger or People magazine refusing to admit they're describing a medically needed abortion.
She literally had a medically needed abortion.
In one way, wearing jeans makes her a massive rebel in her family. In other ways, wearing those jeans doesn't mean shit.
People magazine relies on the Duggars for content, so they'll walk whatever line the main family wants.
#jinger duggar#people magazine#abortion#miscarriage#no i don't care what jinger's married name is#in common knowledge he's just some fucking dude

I really don't know how to feel about this tbh
I was so excited by the title but alas
#if she were really teaching Christian women how to be less people please-y for their own benefit that would be great#but i just don't her to do that in an actually liberating way#and maybe that's not even what she's doing with this? is it another memoir? idk#Jinger vuolo#fundie books

Joy’s sister q&a
So joy had Jennifer, Johanna, Josie, Jana and jordyn over to hang out and do a q&a of generic questions, nothing too salacious.
What about your family are you thankful for?
Joy: how non-confrontational they all are, how they can still hangout even after an agreement (my note: ?????)
What’s something you’ve always wanted to do?
Johanna: wants to learn building stuff like a deck, construction. Also Spanish
Which television family describes your family?
Jennifer: the Bates, joy thinks she should be allowed to say the Duggar family 😅
Who is the most likely to cry over dog commercials?
All: Josie
Who is the least likely to get embarrassed in public?
Jana: joy, maybe Jennifer
What cheers you up when you’ve had a bad day?
Joy: food! Coffee especially
Favorite holiday related memory:
Johanna: making the Easter crafts and cookies
One word to describe the family:
Jennifer: unique (my note: that’s definitely the kindest way to say “99.99999% of the world would NEVER EVER live like us on account of the obvious)
Favorite place you’ve lived?
Jana: the old house, where they lived when Jana was little on account of all the good memories (my note: insane thing to say given what he who shall not be named did there but nostalgia does funny things to a girl)
Best gift ever received?
Jordyn: salvation (my note: 🙄), the American girl dolls she had as a girl (here Josie goes on a tangent about how Tyler tore the head of a doll she was given as a child and Oh Boy do I wish joy had edited that out, especially as Tyler isn’t in jb&ms custody anymore)
Most likely to give good advice?
All: Jana, also joy (my note: of course the 30+ sistermom of 15 gives getter advice than her teenage sisters lmao) Jana will apparently tell it how it is even if it would hurt the person in the moment
Favorite family activity?
Johanna: volleyball, capture the flag. Anything with all of them outside in the summer
A deep passion?
Jennifer: caring for animals
Favorite trip?
Josie: the two month road trip out west (Arkansas to Iowa to Washington to California to Texas to Arkansas again. Not being on tv sure clears up time I guess) also Connecticut
How do you show support to family members?
Jana: babysitting, helping with practical projects (even when not asked)
Talent people don’t know Jordyn has:
Cooking and baking
Current passions/things to learn:
Joy: has recently started baking (only did it once with jinger for the show before)
Josie: what’s to take jumping lessons with her pony
Jennifer: wants to get mini cows (my note: there are mini cows????!?!?? 😍)
Jordyn: wants to improve her volleyball game
Johanna: wants to learn more building and repairing
Jana: learn more medical stuff, whatever that means and also cooking
And then at the end joy gets evy to say the outro spiel which I just…. Think is kind of icky, like family vlogging in general.

Vuolos on Shiny Happy People
Video
Summary:
Jinger chose not to be apart of the doc. She did not do it because of little to no editing power. When she was asked to participate, she already was or was thinking about writing her book (unclear). She was also concerned that it wasn't a Christian production/ that there would be no redemptive or balanced quality. She wanted true Christianity to be shown.
They watched pretty much the whole thing in one night.
Jinger likes how they showed how someone could get wrapped into it. She said they captured the isolation well. She was impacted by the victim stories and so much truth was shared.
Jeremy said one of the most powerful lines was "what they feared the most was our voice" or something to that effect.
Jinger didn't love the conclusion of the doc. It was lacking in an answer of those harmed. There is no hope of where to go. She fears it does not show or encourage "disentangling". They were however not expecting them to be the church.
Jeremy said they nitpicked a couple times on some of Gothard's beliefs that were just basic Christian teachings.
Jinger was surprised by some of the positive responses to her book within her family and older friend circle.

Jinger just posted a vlog and in it Lauren is shown and Lauren is visibly pregnant with what l assume to be Siren #3. This is old footage though since you can see clearly that Joy is still pregnant but, if you add all the grandkids together it’s a total of 31. Siren #3 could be the “missing” 29th/ is probably the “missing” 29th

Nothing To Lose - Taxi Violence
Taxi Violence- Taxi Violence Taxi Violence hailed from Cape Town and formed in 2004. They named themselves after a newspaper billboard which said ‘Taxi Violence rocks the Western Cape’. The father of lead songer, Greg van der Spuy was stationed at the Wynberg Military Base and he organised a bunker for the band to practice in. In 2005 they released their debut 3-track EP which was eponymously…

"Counting the Cost" by Jill Duggar Dillard
Last night, I read all of Counting the Cost in one sitting because apparently my fundie fascination is still going strong over a year after we closed down KUWF. I've got a lot of takeaways I want to talk about so I'm going to put a cut and get into it all after the jump.
In the beginning of the book, it struck me how generally correct we were about Jill and growing up as a Duggar. She was a people pleaser and playing the role of “Sweet Jilly Muffin” was so important to her. She loved her childhood and her parents. It’s interesting both from Jinger & Jill that as kids, the Duggar childhood of their memories is an idyllic one. There was a lot of emphasis on their values - no rock music, dancing, movies, etc. but it was a lot of time spent together and fun and games.
We also saw the shift in the way they grew up - they were always IBLP inspired conservative Christains, but were attending a regular baptist church up until they attended a different church one week that had dancing in the service. Suddenly, they started attending an IBLP only church and getting deeper in. Jill recounts the first time she went to an IBLP conference and realized there were other families like theirs. It was interesting to see their early progression deeper into the cult (which Jill even calls it by the end of the book).
Jim Bob getting into politics was interesting - Josh’s early interest in it, while Jill preferred to get treats from the other legislators, made a lot of sense. When Josh is sent away, Jill glosses over some of the details (fair enough) but it’s interesting to me to see how she lays out the three things happening around the same time: (1) going deeper into IBLP, (2) her dad getting involved in politics and (3) Josh getting sent away. It lays the groundwork for what TLC is about to walk into and change everything.
Jim Bob also saying he knew God wanted him to run for Senate, then losing and immediately being noticed by the press and ultimately Discovery - and opening the “window of opportunity” for their family to be on TV was a little wild. The fact that all this happened ultimately because this man flipped a coin three times and got heads all three times - something that has a ⅛ probability of happening - is sorta wild.
Jill not enjoying filming was something I did not expect - honestly I always thought that she was one of the kids who enjoyed it more. But it makes sense now that she was one of the few who refused to have her honeymoon filmed and refused TLC cameras at her birth, which Jana and Michelle filmed. Those were one of the things that I noticed at the time but didn’t realize what it meant. Good for Jill for standing her ground on both those things - although she wanted to refuse to have her birth filmed at all.
It was interesting to me that the Duggars were not an IBLP model family UNTIL the show. The show put them in that position - Jill didn’t think they’d be one without it. And the line about Jana being invited to visit headquarters as the only blond to be one of “Gothard’s Girls” just hurts to think about in hindsight.
It’s interesting how long they propped Josh up as the golden boy while he was in trouble behind the scenes.
In hindsight, the fact that Jim Bob really set up Jill and Derick is really something, since they would ultimately be the first to really break away.
Everytime Jill advocates for herself, I am so proud. She pushed for two weeks in Nepal to meet Derick even when they only wanted to film part of the trip, and got the time. They filmed a fake goodbye and then spent another week getting to know each other.
I didn’t expect to have my lawyer hat on, but the fact that Jim Bob had Jill sign a contract the day of her rehearsal dinner with everything going on with her MILs health without letting her read it, and her not even realizing what was happening was just atrocious. Just pure and straight abuse.
The fact that Jill was not paid for any filming and thought she was volunteering at her family ministry for the majority of the time she was filming is just awful. I know she did get perks - her Nepal trip, various other trips, her wedding, groceries, etc. But the fact that she and Derick only had a five day honeymoon because that’s all they could afford when Jim Bob almost certainly made more than $100,000 for their wedding is gross.
This also doesn’t make TLC look very good, since this kind of abuse was allowed to occur basically under their watch. I get that they likely had a great deal on the Duggars because they were only negotiating with questionable businessman Jim Bob but it does suck to see how little they care about the human cost of their show.

A while ago I was looking at Jinger’s follow list (no idea why) and noticed she followed Kat Von D. I was mildly amused and then immediately forgot. But I just learned that KVD publicly converted to Christianity last October and has condemned witchcraft and the occult (also yoga and nature). She’s been blacking out all of her tattoos and moved to Indiana because the BLM movement in Los Angeles made her feel unsafe.
So I went down a bit of rabbit hole and now you all have to hear about it:
Kat was sent to the same boarding school as Paris Hilton when she was a teenager and describes it as incredibly traumatic.
She says the hardest criticism for her is the accusation of being racist because (I kid you not) she’s a proud Latina. Iykyk.
After her baptism went viral she went on Allie Stuckey’s podcast.
I knew about the backlash over the Lolita lipstick for her makeup line but there was also issues over a shade called Selektion which was a German Nazi word for the selection of prisoners during WW2, her defense of this was that she actually named the very pink lipstick after a piece of artwork that she really liked. The artwork was a series of photographs of Christian, Jewish, and disabled children living in Germany in 1988??
Her current husband has faced controversy over his swastika tattoo and the fact that he maybe disowned his daughter after she “had sex” with some of his friends. The quotations are due to it being unclear if his daughter was over 18 when this occurred. He has stated that the event ruined his life and he went four years without seeing his daughter and when he did he told her that being married to Kat Von D is his good karma for surviving what she did to him.
So…. Yeah. That’s what she’s been up to.
#it’s so interesting because if you look up KVD plus Christianity it’s a lot of people happy she’s ‘saved’#and it reminds me of Jerm and Jing supporting Kanye#and it’s just zero research zero critical thinking#genuinely not a care given if this person is a good representation of living a Christian life#like when Christian radio stations played Take Me to Church when it was first released#everything goes over these people’s heads#maybe that’s why there’s such a crossover between Christians and conservatives#both groups will ‘accept’ whoever as long as they say the right thing#no additional information needed or cared about
