juno ! ᥫ᭡
pairing: rafe cameron x fem! reader
word count: 980
summary: boat days with rafey make you so fucking horny<333 based on the song ‘juno’ by sabrina carpenter
warnings: no actual smut, use of y/n, mentions of pregnancy, alcohol, probably more i dont fucking know
authors note: IM BAAAACK! bringing back the short n’ sweet inspired rafe fics
boat days with rafe were your favorite days. you didn’t have to be sexual with rafe to have fun together, and you guys had your own way of showing appreciation— which, of course, included sex some days, but you also just got each other.
your love for each other was showcased best on the druthers on hot and sticky summer afternoons. you’d be tanning and feel a lack of warmth for a second, opening your eyes to see rafe towering over you, blocking the sun. a fruity seltzer in his hand, he’d hand it to you and you’d continue tanning. you didn’t ever have to tell him what you were thinking, he just gets it.
or he’d let you apply sunscreen on him— this was a rarity. he claimed he didn’t care if he got burnt or not, and you’d always reply with something along the lines of ‘you will care when you get skin cancer in 20 years!’ so you’d stand on your tippy toes, rubbing the white substance on his face, chest, back, arms, and legs until you saw fit. this was also a perfect excuse to feel him up. you hated his father, ward, for giving him life-long daddy issues but this was one of the only times you’d thank him. God bless his dad’s genetics, because rafe cameron is one sight to see and feel under the north carolina heat. beads of sweat dotting his face and chest, small freckles appearing on his nose and how gorgeous he looked driving the boat.
today was one of those days; you in a tiny pink bikini and rafe looking particularly fuckable edible hot pretty. you watched as he steered the boat towards wherever the hell he was taking you, his grip on the steering wheel showing off his toned, muscular arms. you just about melted in your sun chair rafe layed out for you.
it was days like this where you seemed to be so in love you’d do just about anything for him. rafe was too busy steering the boat, leaving you alone in your thoughts as you soaked up the vitamin d. you often thought about your future with rafe, and rafe doesn’t talk about the future rarely ever, but you knew he’d want your touch for life. he hasn’t and probably won’t ever come out and directly say he wants to spend forever with you, but his words always allude to it.
you never take the things he says during sex seriously; he’s always grunting about putting a baby in you or telling you to never ever leave him— you wouldn’t dare— but you wonder if he really truly means it. however, this doesn’t stop you from hinting at the fact you would like this all to become a reality. he’d be picking you up to go to dinner and you’d do a little twirl, showing off your dress. he’d tell you you look great, just like always, and you’d be like ‘well, there’s actually one thing missing…’ rafe would grumble something like ‘fuck are you talkin’ bout, kid? you’re fully dressed.’ and you’d stick your left hand out to him, showing him your naked ring finger. ‘missing a rock right there.’ and he’d roll his eyes and tell you to get in the damn truck.
you hopped off the tanning chair and found your way to a mini fridge that’s always stocked with various drinks. you opted for a twisted tea and you grabbed rafe a beer. you giddily walked to find rafe who was standing by the steering wheel, one hand on it and the other glancing down at his phone.
“here ya go,” you smiled and handed him the glass bottle.
“thanks, baby.” he said while placing a kiss to your temple, turning his phone off.
you looked at his hands on the steering wheel, noticing the lack of a wedding ring on his hand. you frown, “looks so boring right here, right?” you look up at him, your finger pointing to his ring finger.
“can you just wait?” he scolded.
“i just think this day would be even more perfect with a mini us running around!” you declared, looking around the boat imagining a tiny rafe or a tiny you waddling all over.
he rolled his eyes and continued steering the boat.
“like, one of me is cute but two though?”
rafe laughed, “are you ovulating or something? holy shit,”
you smiled and planted a kiss on his cheek, “can’t help it.”
“jus’… gimme time, baby.” he muttered before taking a sip of his beer.
so maybe having a baby at 19 wasn’t the best idea. but there were far worse things you could be doing with your life! rafe has enough money to support you and the baby until the end of time, including your retail therapy and regular therapy, so what is so wrong with that?
“give me one good reason why we can’t have a baby right now.” you said, crossing your arms which only made rafe take this conversation less serious because his eyes were immediately drawn to your tits.
rafe smirked, “shit, i dunno. i will say, your tits would be massive with a little baby in you.”
you gasped, “so you do wanna have a baby!”
“never said that.” he sniffed.
rolling your eyes you said, “whatever. god forbid i want a future with you!” you stormed off leaving rafe behind you.
of course, rafe didn’t want to hurt your feelings so he apologized very thoroughly later. he made sure to tell you that he did want a future with you, but he wants you to enjoy your young adulthood before potentially wrecking your life and freedom by bringing a baby into the world. in response to this, you stuck your tongue out at him.
“see, who needs a fucking baby when we got you around?” he said teasingly.

Love Test – Joe Keery
Inspired by Big Bang Theory S8 E16
Working on Fargo was an interesting experience. The cast was great, but I couldn't help but feel like they all knew something that I didn't. I've been doing the actors' hair and makeup so I have a lot of one-on-one time with each person.
Fargo was my first big job. Before this, I worked in my mom's salon, mainly doing the hair of sixty-year-old women. One of my clients knew someone who knew someone whose nephew worked with FX. Through the grapevine, my mom found out that FX needed a new makeup and hair person.
I get along fairly well with the cast, but there was always something a little awkward between me and one of the younger cast members: Joe Keery. I've seen him act in person and he's really good, but when we get one-on-one, the only thing we're able to do is maintain awkward small talk.
Barely.
"Y/N, are you coming?" David Rysdal asked.
I turned around to see a few of the cast mates walking into the makeup trailer.
"To what?"
"Party at my house!"Jon Hamm laughed.
"Oh," I laughed awkwardly.
"You're coming right?" Juno Temple asked.
"I'll stop by," I shrugged.
"Great!" Jon Hamm cheered. "See you tonight at 7."
I didn't want to go, but after 5 seasons, this season's cast has been putting in more of an effort to get me to hang out with them. I went home after we wrapped up for the day and put more work into making myself look good. When I showed up, the party was in full swing. Jon really did invite everyone on set.
Two hours and way too much drinking later, some of us were sitting around the coffee table, talking.
"Have you guys heard about this experiment to see if you could make two people fall in love in a matter of hours?" David asked.
"Hours?" I asked. "Is it even possible?"
"That's why it's an experiment, Y/N," Jennifer Jason Leigh scoffed.
"The participants ask each other a series of questions designed to promote intimacy. And they finish it off by staring into each other's eyes for four minutes," David quickly explained to lessen the awkwardness.
"We should try it!" Juno cheered as she bounced up and down.
"Y/N and Joe should try it," Jon said with a smirk that made me nervous.
"Us?" Joe and I said in sync.
I cleared my throat and added, "Why us?"
"Why not?" Juno smirked.
"I will text you both the questions," David said as he typed on his phone. I sighed when I got the message.
"You can use my office," Jon said. "It's right through there."
"Great," I mumbled under my breath. Joe and I shared a look. He stood up and reached his hand out for me to take.
"Shall we?" He asked, trying to sound light.
"Don't have much of a choice, it would seem."
It was extremely awkward as Joe and I walked into Jon Hamm's office. We sat down on the couch, neither one of us saying anything. I grabbed my phone and looked through the questions. Every single one I read, made me want the floor to open up and swallow me even more.
"Okay," Joe said as he turned toward me. "You ready?"
"I guess," I shrugged. I glanced up to see Joe looking at me weirdly. I cleared my throat and read the first question. "Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a diner guest?"
"Bing Crosby," Joe answered instantly.
"Really?" I asked. "Bing Crosby? Why?"
"I grew up watching White Christmas," Joe explained. "I've seen everything that Bing Crosby did. Also, my mom listened to his music all the time. He's the reason I went into acting."
"Oh," I said softly. "That's actually really sweet."
"Thanks," he smiled. "What about you?"
"Pat McGrath."
"Who?"
"She's a British make-up artist," I said, a blush forming. "Vogue called her the most influential make-up artist of all time. She's kind of like my idol."
"Did she inspire you to go into makeup?" He asked.
"A little," I shrugged. "My family did. My mom owns a hair salon back home. I got into makeup because I wanted to start a new business and connect it to my mom's salon. She'd do clients' hair and I'd do their nails and makeup."
"You didn't go into it," he said slowly. "Did something. . ."
"We had a falling out," I confessed when he didn't ask his question. "Technically my dad and I had a falling out. My mom was just an innocent bystander. He wanted me to follow in his footsteps of dental school while my mom wanted me to follow in hers. No matter what I did, one of them would be upset."
"I'm sorry," Joe said, his voice dropping.
I cleared my throat and looked at the list of questions. "Next question?"
"Next question," Joe nodded as he looked at his phone and read the list. "What would constitute a perfect day for you?"
"It's going to sound lame," I mumbled, messing with my fingers.
"Try me," Joe said gently as he lowered his phone.
"My perfect day would start with me sleeping in," I started to explain. "I'd wake up and put on an outfit that was comfortable but still made me look amazing."
I blushed as Joe smiled at me. Before I could wimp out, I kept talking. "I'd walk around a mall, sipping my favorite coffee drink, and go on a small shopping spree. Girly, but what can I say?"
"No judgment," Joe chuckled. "What else would you do?"
"I'd end the shopping spree at the bookstore," I confessed. "On the way home, I'd pick up my favorite dish at my favorite Italian place on Meaker."
"Girmaldis?"
"Yeah," I said slowly, a little shocked. "You know that place?"
"It's my favorite." This sudden tension that has been building since the cast put us in the spotlight, started to thicken between us. He cleared his throat before asking, "Anything else you'd do?"
"Just finish the night with binge-watching my favorite show," I said. "And then a bubble bath."
"Sounds amazing," he chuckled. "Although, I'm not much of a bath person."
"Then you've clearly never taken a good one," I teased.
"Guess not," he shrugged.
"What about you? What would your perfect day consist of?" I asked, the nerves still jumping around my stomach.
"Oh, it's super adventurous," he chuckled. "I'd sleep in and spend most of my day doing nothing."
"Nothing?"
"Nothing," he confirmed. I thought about asking him more but didn't bother to push him.
Instead, I looked down at my phone and asked the next question. "What is something that makes you feel unstoppable?"
"Weirdly enough," he chuckled, "when I'm at one of my premieres. Especially if I'm proud of what I worked on. What about you? What makes you feel unstoppable, Y/N?"
"When I see a really hard makeup look that I did on the big screen," I said instantly. Joe just smiled at me before looking back at his phone.
"If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?"
"No social anxiety," I blurted. "I just. . . I mean. . ."
"It's okay," Joe said gently. "Not everyone likes being in big groups. Hell, even I get a little bit of anxiety when I'm on the red carpet."
"That's different," I mumbled, looking down at my hands.
"You're right," he said quickly. Joe leaned over and delicately put his hand over mine. I looked up to see him smiling at me. "I'm sorry. It's not the same thing. I wish I could help you with your social anxiety."
The tension was thick between us again. It didn't seem to go away as I said, "What about you? What quality or ability would you want?"
"Don't tease me too much," he smiled as he slowly pulled his hand back into his lap, "but I wish I was better at something, anything."
"What do you mean?"
"The only thing I feel like I'm good at is acting," Joe continued. "I wish there was something else I could do. It would be nice to have something I could fall back on when acting eventually doesn't work out anymore."
"Why are you so sure it won't work out for long?"
"Actors don't act forever. It'd be nice to have a safety net," he shrugged. Without another word, he read the next question. "What is something you consider too serious to joke about?"
"People's appearances," I said a little too quickly. He looked up at me, making my face burn.
"Did someone. . ."
"Your turn," I cut him off. "What is something that you think is too serious to joke about?"
"People's relationships," Joe said, his voice soft. "I always hate when guys talk about their girlfriends like they're objects. Some things should stay between the couple. A guy shouldn't share everything with his friends."
"That's. . . Sweet," I barely got out. I cleared my throat and looked at my phone. "How do you react to anger from others?"
"Doesn't really affect me, if I'm being honest. Especially if it had nothing to do with why they're angry," he shrugged. Joe's smile dropped when he saw the look on my face. He lowered his voice as he asked, "What about you?"
"I don't handle it well," I said softly. I looked at my hands and started picking at my nail polish.
"Y/N. . ." He whispered.
"My parents used to fight a lot," I continued, my voice shaky. "It was never my fault but. . . When they fought, I'd lock myself in my room and read or listen to music. They fought all the time. The only time they weren't fighting was when they were each at work. My mom was at her salon from opening to closing. My dad was at his dental office way past closing."
"I'm so sorry, Y/N," Joe said. He went to grab my hand but I grabbed my phone and read out the next question.
"Do you often listen to your intuition?"
"Not nearly enough as I should," Joe said with a small chuckle.
"Same," I said, still looking at my phone. "Last question. If you were to die this evening with no opportunity to communicate with anyone, what would you most regret not having told someone?"
"My feelings," he blurted out. I snapped my head up and looked at him.
"Your what?"
"I just. . . I have a tendency to keep my feelings to myself," he stuttered. "When I like a girl, I rarely tell her."
The tension was officially suffocating as we stared at each other. "What would you regret not saying?" Joe asked, his voice soft.
"I guess," I said slowly, "I'd regret not telling my parents how I really feel. I've never told them how much their fighting affected me. I should've been more honest with them."
"You still have the chance," he said gently. "Luckily, you're not going to die tonight so you can still talk to your parents."
"That's true," I said softly. "That also means that you can still tell a girl you have feelings for her."
The second I said it, my face burned. I wanted to say something, but I couldn't form the words.
"What's next?" Joe asked.
"Well, we finished the questions so now we stare into each other's eyes for four minutes," I said, clearing my throat. I grabbed my phone and set a timer. "Go."
I looked up, my heart instantly jumping into my throat as Joe and I made eye contact. The longer we stared at each other, the harder it was to not look away.
"Wow," Joe chuckled. "This is kinda. . ."
"Awkward," I whispered.
"But, to be honest, this has been working."
"You think so?"
"Yeah," he shrugged. "I mean, the questions got us to open up to each other. And staring into each other's eyes forms a. . ."
"Connection," I said under my breath.
"Connection," he agreed. I hadn't realized we were getting closer until our noses touched. By the time I realized it, Joe had made the first move.
My heart jumped into my throat when Joe gently pressed his lips to mine. Time froze as we slowly began moving our lips in sync. As slow as we initiated the kiss, we broke it.
"Well," I whispered, "I guess the experiment works."
"Something tells me this is exactly why the others had us do this experiment," Joe whispered.
"You're damn right!" Jon yelled from the other side of the door, making Joe and I laugh.
"Leave them alone!" Juno chastised. "If you want them to get together, you can't interrupt their moments."
"Oh boy," I sighed. Joe gently grabbed my chin, making me look at him. I blushed as he leaned in and kissed me again.
"Hey," Joe whispered, breaking the kiss. "Let's get out here."

but you… ; jj maybank
warnings: few swears & lots of fluff!!!! this is really short lol
inspired by "anyone else but you" by moldy peaches
"c'mon jay! we don't sound that bad"
"you sound great babe, but i sound like shit"
the two of you were situated outside the chateau on a hammock, a guitar in your lap & a laptop in jj's. you've been dying to sing with him since you got a new guitar from your mom a few weeks ago, plus, there's a cute trend on tiktok were couples sing that one song from the juno movie... so you convinced jj to sing it with you.
"jay," you nudged him with your left elbow, head perking up to look at him. "you do not sound like shit! i, for one, like your singing voice"
scoffing at you, jj took off his cap to ruffle his hair. "you're only saying that because you like me" he half joked.
"no, i said that because i love you, surfer boy" you emphasized, seeing how he started to grin & look away from his lap to focus on you.
"yeah?"
"oh yeah"
with a sigh & a smile, jj suggested that the two of you could sing the song again. "take it away, popstar".
as you began strumming the guitar strings with the turtle pick kiara got you, the familiar chords of g & cmajor 7 filled your ears happily. jj looked at you with lovestruck eyes as he admired your smile & how happy you looked playing the instrument. & when your voice hit his ears, he could've sworn he was in heaven.
"you're a part time love & a full time friend, the monkey on your back is the latest trend. i don't see what anyone else can see in anyone else, but you..." you sang out, your eyes glancing up at jj with rosy warm cheeks.
"i kiss you on the brain in the shadow of a train. i kiss you all starry-eyed, my body is swinging from side to side. i don't see what anyone can see in anyone else, but you..." jj sang, his voice slightly quieter but beautiful none the less.
he had to look at his laptop for the lyrics & he sometimes stumbled on the words, but you thought he was the most perfect person ever.
"here is the church & here is the steeple, we sure are cute for two ugly people. i don't see what anyone can see in anyone else, but you..." you both sang together, catching glances & smiles & short laughs at how silly but pretty the lyrics were.
the rest of the song continued, your head falling onto jj's shoulder as you tried to hide how wide your smile was. it felt like the world only consisted of you both, the marsh, the smell of salt & campfires—it was pure bliss. what you both didn't know what that sarah was recording you both from the kitchen window, zooming in perfectly on you guys through a large hold in the screen window that john b forgot to fix.
it wasn't until jj pressed a kiss to yoru temple that you heard someone let out an "aweeee", causing you to turn your head up towards the house, groaning when sarah came out of her hiding place.
"sarah cameron!" you & jj shouted with fake gasps, feeling jj's arm sneak around your waist as she walked up to the hammock. the blonde boy tisked, clicking his tongue while his cold rings tapped the bare skin of your hip.
"sorry! i just couldn't help it! you guys are so cute!" you could imagine jj jokingly rolling his eyes at the blonde girl, but you mouthed a shy "thank you" that she could only see.
thanks to her, you'd always have that memory for you to replay whenever you needed it.
& for the record, you both sounded great.

meet my oc
main relations: sebastian by @pjo-hoo-toa-freakazoid , nico di angelo, jason grace, and perseus jackson. her relationships later broaden to add leo valdez, soyee by 💌 anon, & lisel by @theevanparker.
arriana lacap: age twelve, mixed race, 5'6", born nov 27, daughter of cupid & legacy of mars.
fav god: juno/hera.
least fav god: tyche.
backstory: she arrives at camp jupiter at the age of eleven, where she is placed in the care of the fifth legion and later the ambassador of pluto. nico is never truly around so she takes it upon herself to go 'adventuring'. this is where she meets her halfbrother, seb. after on of his attacks he is at the top of jupiter's temple and she believes him a blessing from the god to protect her. while she is aware he is only begrudgingly fond of her, she wholeheartedly adores him.
the same cannot be said for her other greek siblings. while cupid kids are naturally loving she is also a legacy of mars (discovered early on as she is granted his blessing whenever in combat). this makes her see any on similar to her as competition. so siblings (that aren't seb)? competition. female aphrodite/venus children? competition. all competition must be crushed and sent to the underworld by her own hand in the most excruciating way possible.
when jason grace disappears, she does as well. they all assume that her adventuring had finally gotten her killed and think nothing of it until she returns on the argo. she accompanies the lost trio as tasked by juno and speaks to percy in dreams while all this happens. the seven, due to the attack on camp jupiter, leave her with the romans. during that time period she figures out that sebastian is the camp killer and so she does the obvious: helps him cover any and all tracks without letting him know she's discovered his secret. she's a good sibling like that.
the power she obtains from cupid is called unrequited love, meaning she can curse any and all loves. platonic, romantic, sexual? you name it and she can take it and absolutely demolish it.
personality: she has a bubbly personality and constantly wishes to please her inspirations/family figures. she is cupid/eros's favourite child because she will do anything he wants as long as it does not interfere or hurt the people she holds dear. strangely enough she is scared of harmless harpies and fawns but adores sirens and any such monsters.
present arc??: she reunites with the lost trio at camp j v camp h. and the rest of he story goes from there!!
any and all plotholes/misconceptions that might be there are supposed to fill in with @pjo-hoo-toa-freakazoid 's lore and au!!

I’m very much not done with this character, but I guess I wanted to at least display what I’ve been trying to work on since yesterday. It has been a struggle
So this here is another character who’s part of that Evoland 2.5 thing or whatever I’m calling it, being specifically related to these guys, as Solus’ father and Juno and Jovi’s uncle. And also, the current leader of the Demons
Brain worms have been telling me to call him Glaucus, and so Saturday night I decided to actually look up what Glaucus is and meant, and honestly I think it works
So Glaucus has a number of ties, but it’s the name of a Greek god of fishermen, which works with Juno and Jovi’s names being Roman gods, as well as apparently the son of Minos. Which also works because he’s supposed to be the direct descendant of Menos in the story. Glaucus is also a genus of sea slug, specifically the blue dragon ones, which I thought sounded cool, so all in all I decided to stick with that name for him
It also made me think of what to do with the character to tie him into these inspirations, which kickstarted me actually thinking about him proper, and so I decided to start trying to design him
I think in the original vision in my head, Solus’ father was supposed to have purple hair and skin, but with the name Glaucus having a lot of ties to blue, I figured I should probably make some part of him blue. I chose hair since blue skin and purple hair is literally already Arthus’ color combo, and he’s Evoland 2’s Demon king, so it’d be too close for my liking. Also that’s the color combo of Menos, which could tie into the “Glaucus, son of Minos” part
When I was first trying out his colors, I thought he looked like a darker color version of Menos, and it needed more tweaking. I eventually got it looking how I liked it in the younger version of Glaucus. I admit that in that one, his hair color is more similar to Menos’, but his skin is dark enough that I think it looks distinct
That young Glaucus is probably my favorite here, and it’s gonna be my main reference for him going forward. Which may cause problems because he’s much older, but whatever
I want to give him a large ponytail, which I actually sort of took from this one small sketch on one of Menos’ pages, which is basically my only look at proper concept art of Menos
But in all honesty, I’m struggling with what to do for the front of his hair. Yes, I could stick with the hair slicked back into the ponytail, as I had on the original
But my main problem with that is, if I were to do that, Jovi here would literally be the only one of these guys to not have slicked back hair in any way. I already feel like I’m struggling to diversify the hair styles, and this does not help
His wife maybe doesn’t need the slicked back hair, but she has a reason to have her hair like that
I’ve also been debating giving him a beard, but the problem there is that I still don’t know how to draw beards right. It’s why I haven’t drawn Arthus this time around. But I also feel like it would make sense to give him a beard, so I don’t know
There’s also generally the issue of how to draw him older. I’m bad at drawing age on my characters. I think I’m learning, at least with some face things, but I’m still not good at it. He’s supposed to be at least in his mid 50s-60s relatively, given Solus, his son, is around 30 ish
But right now my main big issue is that I don’t know what kind of outfit to give him, I’m really struggling
I’ve tried to search up monk character designs on here, since that’s kind of the vibe these guys are supposed to have, but the additional problem was making him look formal enough, since he’s supposed to be the current Demon king, even if that title is a bit lesser than in Evoland 2 times
I think I need to solidify what this group of Demon’s style is, and what I want to do. Because I’m mostly working off the idea that their style is derived from the Temple of Menos Demons. This would be true, but also these guys are supposed to be 500-600 years later, and most don’t live there anymore, so they should probably have some change
I have some ideas for a new Solus design, so it may help me flesh things out, but on this page I still don’t know what to do
Now I might as well talk about the ideas I have for Glaucus, because what I drew isn’t indicative of everything I have in mind for him
So as mentioned, Glaucus is the leader of the current Demons, as well as Solus’ father, and Juno and Jovi’s uncle. He had a younger sister who was Juno and Jovi’s mother (I also drew something of her above), but she and their father died when they were children, and so he took them in, and he’s basically their dad now (at least for Jovi, who was basically a toddler when his parents died)
Glaucus has somewhat of a water/sea affiliation. As a child, he really liked to fish (is maybe autistic for marine life? I don’t know), and it is still a favorite past time of his, as well as something he’s taught his charges. He also wields a spear and probably has an amount of water powers. I personally imagine one ability of his is to create water clones of himself during a battle, as well as probably clones of his spear
In a hypothetical game, you would definitely have a boss fight with him. In the story, he’s supposed to be under some evil influence, so he’s an antagonist, at least initially
He’s fairly powerful, though not as much in brute strength as Menos or Matchos
There’s also his wife, aka Solus’s mother. She’s still alive, but she doesn’t live in the tower with her family. She still lives in the Temple of Menos, as an active custodian of it, which is considered more important, so she stays there. The temple isn’t that far though, so she still sees them relatively often, whenever they come to visit. I don’t know what to name her
Funny enough she also ended up basically having Juno’s old color scheme, but it works here. Her having the long braid and slicked back hair is also because she’s even more based on the Temple of Menos guys, since that's literally her job
I don't know what to name her though. Maybe something sun/light related, I don't know
There's also Glaucus' sister, whom I also don't know what to name. She doesn't really have anything about her, in part because she's long dead in the story and I really only need her and her husband to figure out Juno and Jovi's genes and how their colors are supposed to work. I think I'm sticking with that color scheme though
Oh also one more thing I forgot to mention, so the Demons were supposed to have come back to the surface around 200 ish years prior to the story or so. And with this, Glaucus and his generation would thus have been the first generation born back on the surface and not at the Temple of Menos. I haven't done anything with this concept, but it is a fact and I need to figure out how to incorporate it
I think my biggest issue with Glaucus, as well as the other two, is that I don't have enough ideas to know where I'm going when drawing. I know part of the point is to try and work out your ideas while sketching and drawing, but I don't have enough of a road map for it. So I guess I put Glaucus in more stasis until I fully figure out what I want to do with him? I'm really not sure
But I guess I'm posting this to show off and talk about what I got, because I want to. I was hoping to have something more fleshed out and an actual character by the time I was done with this, but alas. This is how I am now
But at least hopefully some of you get value out of this. Provided you care at all about this
#also a note I may change Solus' name#because I've actually gotten to the word in my Latin class#and “solus” specifically does not mean sun#it actually means “alone/only”#“sol” and its declensions is the word for sun#but maybe I should change it altogether#I also wonder if I need to change up the names more#they're pretty much all just Greek/Latin and most of them are just deities#I really do need to work on diversifying these guys more#Juno used to be unique but now she's just like everyone else#I actually tried with her having orange hair#but hopefully I'll be able to overcome this obstacle#and get better at drawing#we'll see#anyways#original characters#evoland 2.5#glaucus demonia#my art#my ocs

Ted Lasso 3x8 Thoughts
I’ve written all of these after seeing the episode only one time but I think this one might benefit from a rewatch more than anything else. Even if, unfortunately, this was absolutely my least favorite episode of this stupid wonderful show. (Or was it? What will a rewatch reveal to me?)
I have tried very hard not to have a lot of fun-time-ruining expectations about this Media Experience that has bewitched me since January fucking 2021. But I’ll admit that I had some serious expectations about the writing of this episode. Keeley Hazell and Dylan Marron! I was so excited to see what the ultimate Keeley Jones expert, the Keeley inspiration, the namesake herself, would have to say about this character. And actually, I thought Juno Temple got some really incredible material to work with, and I think she acted the living fuck out of this episode. I came away with a deeper understanding of Keeley’s character. A sense of who she is when she wakes up in bed next to someone who delights her. A sense of how it feels when someone she loves deeply disappoints and hurts her, and how it feels when someone she could have loved chooses a status over a human, and how it feels when someone she used to love holds himself accountable to her.
There was so much about this episode that felt incredibly natural:
everything about Juno’s performance
the ways Jack is charming and tantalizing and expansive and the ways she’s small and cowardly and disappointing were perfect…wlw rep doesn’t happen in a vacuum of purity, this is wlw rep but this is also billionaire asshole rep this is venture capitalism rep this is richer-than-Rebecca-Welton rep this is manipulator rep
the perfect moment when Jade tells Nate to celebrate his victories after a lifetime of hearing his father shame him for taking pride in his successes
the anti-chemistry chemistry of Ted and Michelle and their long history
absolutely everything about Rebecca as lifeline and sense-talker for Ted (and soulmate…I’m so tired, but it just remains true that they’re fucking soulmates, and I hope they find out and I’m still pretty sure they will)
Beard in an apron making pancakes for his boys
Rebecca holding Keeley and telling her a possibly slightly exaggerated story about her introduction to masturbation to cheer up her beloved bestie
the utter pain of Roy being once again a very good person who has fucked up badly in a parking lot (this time with consequences)
Ted’s sweet little voices as he reads to Henry (and the WTF moment he has about himself after Henry has fallen asleep)
Last night my wife and I went out for a beer and broke down a bunch of these moments and how good they actually were, and how strange it was to have, honestly, a wealth of beautifully written and acted moments in an episode that really didn’t work for us. Because those highs made the lows seem so much lower.
The locker room scene…I’ve watched anti-harassment and standards-of-business videos for my corporate job that are better than whatever that was. I understand what they were trying to do. And I understand that this is a story that has so much real-life crossover and is so incredibly important to get right and was probably so complicated and often painful to write that I feel very empathetic about the ways that all that pressure might have conspired to make this episode worse instead of better. I have no interest in judging those conditions, nor do I think it’s some big hilarious gotcha that this writer (well, writers) wrote about this topic. But I do have to judge the final product, which reads like a group of people taking turns saying things like “This is a bad thing in our society” and “Is it so bad?” and “Yes, fellow man, it really is that bad” and “But wait, why should I have any responsibility for this bad thing in our society?” and “Well, here is why you actually do have some responsibility for this bad thing in our society.”
Even the Keeley-Rebecca scene wavers in and out, whereas normally a scene with those two is rock solid. They spend a lot of time explaining the societal conditions to each other instead of relying on the shorthand that two best friends would use to communicate. I mean, thank God Rebecca was totally with Keeley on this one—if she hadn’t been, that would’ve warranted something on the spectrum of lecture—but because she was, their exchange of lines about sexualization just had me feeling like I am watching a TV show about a very special issue, I am watching a TV show about a very special issue.
Just as I’m not looking to Jack Danvers to convince a homophobe why bi people are cool (she could be the coolest most respectful gal in the world and she’s not gonna convince a bigot that queer people actually are great!), I desperately wish they’d taken a less heavy hand with this stuff. Keeley’s pain—her vehement lack of embarrassment, her disappointment—says it all.
And I am so sorry to say that I feel like Brendan Hunt, who always, always knows when to dial it down and when to dial it up, when to bury and when to emote, dialed it way too far up when talking to Henry while Ted’s on the phone with Rebecca. I am a huge defender of how this show uses musical scenes; bring on the cheese, bring on the champagne bottle microphones, bring on the sing-alongs and heightened emotions and funeral rick rolls. Every other time a character has sung on this show, it’s been natural in the awkwardness and the slightly-outsized emotions and the inherent goofiness of it all. This time, they just could not create the right emotional conditions to earn this moment. I’m not going to give a detailed critique of a child's performance on a public website, but unfortunately I think this is a moment when the writers actually underwrote what Henry needed to say, because I’m mystified as to how he’s actually feeling and doing. Understanding those things is essential to understanding where this story is going, so I’m really upset that a huge chunk of information is missing now.
And that leads me to the incredibly unsettling ending. I had to be talked down off a ledge. I’m now pretty sure the ambiguities of how Ted and Michelle are around each other are about recognizing the ways they used to work, their common reference points, their knowledge of each other, while simultaneously experiencing yet another goodbye, yet another turning point in this (realistic, tbh) endless cycle of navigating the split. But I’m really struggling to understand Ted’s headspace in the final couple minutes of the show, whereas usually I feel like I’m practically living inside his brain as I watch.
I’ve loved s3 so far. I always knew it would be as distinct a thing of its own just as much as s1 and s2 were distinct from each other. As much as I’d be enjoying a return to the specific magic of s1, it would be impossible and wrong and even irresponsible of them to try to recreate it, and I think it would fall flat, and so I’m glad I knew that would never be my experience with this season of TV. And yet it’s a little unnerving, even as this person who’s tried to keep my high expectations open-ended, to feel so bummed about 3x8. The conversation over that beer about all the really good stuff did make me feel better, because it reminded me that the really badly done parts of this episode were less about story than about the circumstances of the storytelling. To me, those circumstances make the clunkers more forgivable instead of less. But it was still disappointing.
Probably every Ted Lasso fan feels this way on some level, but I am having such a singular experience. I am a fifteen-year-old girl again, holed up in my room because “no one understands………why I feel the way I feel about Ted Lasso.” The membrane between my takes and my empathetic yet judgmental reactions to other people’s takes is permeable and problematic. It’s shameful, but I want everyone to love it because I love it and I want everyone to calm down because I’m calm and I want everyone to be at the edge of their seat and not at all calm because I’m at the edge of my seat and not at all calm and I want everyone to love Ted/Rebecca even if they never kiss because I love Ted/Rebecca (even if they never kiss) and I want everyone to have hated this episode because I hated it and I want everyone to give it time and space to breathe because I’m trying to do that and I want everyone to wait and see what fucking happens because I’ve got some kind of freak patience when it comes to this fucking experience. I want to be my best self and I am not my best self. I’m insane about this show, and I’m not working on the issue. Eek.

Gathered together on the island of Juno’s Reach, the city of Boreana is a frequent site of festivals for the Lysarans that call the Queendom home. Boreana houses a temple devoted to the worship of the many Gods of Lysara: Juno, Minerva, Jupiter, Apollo, Neptune, Diana, and more, A Temple of the Twelve.
As tradition, the Lysarans will pay an annual tribute to Neptune, the God of the Seas with various oceanic-inspired tributes.
For a period of one week, politics, work, and legal processes are brought to a close. The Sitters will not convene, Arethusa will not hold court, and the only officials still on duty are the magistrates - charged with keeping the peace.
Overseen by the Vestals, priestesses of the twelve, pilgrimages are made from across Lysara to Boreana, where the people of the Queendom leave offerings in the form of foods traditional to the sea, incense, and gold pieces in the hopes of gaining Neptune’s favour. None more so than sailors and traders, those who’ve snubbed the God have found their fleets shipwrecked, and their wares lost to the tides.
In addition to the rites offered at the temple, food, wine, music, and dancing litter the carnival dedicated to Neptune. As rowdy on the island as it is on the sea, moored boats are decorated and painted for the festival, as floating parties dot the bay.
The “Master of Games,” masked and shrouded in anonymity, opens the ceremonies by raising the sunken competition grounds within the harbour. An expansive forum for competition that appears only once a year. A marvel of Lysaran innovation, the sunken competition grounds were painstakingly crafted below the tides in the Second Age, and remain in use today.
Over the course of the next two weeks we’ll have competitions for the following:
Strength Challenge
Chariot Racing
Gladiator Tournament
Sailing
Diving/Underwater Obstacle Course
Mystery Sport
ooc info
in character it will last from July 200th - July 27th
ooc it will begin today, July 22nd and will last until August 7th

What if the Apple constructs Desmond's physical features into this but more with the piece of eden inspired wendigo;
This is from the anime (The Ancient Magus' Bride). And this add scenes of identity crisis if he was transported in AC 3 and would either be feared as the wendigo based on the mythology or revered as a kind forest spirit if he shown kindness to strangers. Maybe he would stay hidden to watch over Connor since birth or guard, pregnant Zio or maybe prevent the burning of Connor's village or a chance encounter with Haytham
It would definitely be tragic if Desmond is believed to be a wendigo as wendigos are considered evil, an entity that was once a person who ate another and now hungers for human flesh.
But let’s say that’s not what happens.
Let’s say Desmond wakes up in the Grand Temple having transformed into a being such as the one above (but without the powers Elias has). When he wakes up, he tries to leave the Grand Temple and sees Kaniehtí:io standing by the entrance. She sees him and her first reaction is to take out her tomahawk, ready to defend herself but not to attack him because she’s not sure yet what he is.
A wendigo?
A forest spirit?
The spirit that dwells in the cave that Haytham had been looking for?
She doesn’t know and Desmond raises his hands and tries to say wait, he means her no harm, but his words are nothing but the sounds of a deer’s death rattle.
It makes Kaniehtí:io take a step back but Desmond thinks fast and starts to write on the ground instead, using his thin sharp nails as pale as bones.
He can’t speak but he can still write and Kaniehtí:io can read his quickly scrawled words.
That day…
Kaniehtí:io sees this as some kind of sign from the spirits.
Because Desmond appeared before her the day she realized that she was with a child.
Unorganized Notes/Ideas:
Desmond stays in the Grand Temple, mainly because he’s thinking that there may be something there he can use to find out what the fuck is happening to him. (He doesn’t)
The Grand Temple is silent and Desmond can’t feel Juno’s presence at all. His leading theory is letting Juno out in 2012 meant she no longer haunts the Grand Temple in any time period.
His body is similar to an emancipated adult male with a deer head and antlers. His nails are long and sharp. His entire skin is the color of bone. He mostly hides it with the clothes Kaniehtí:io gave him.
Speaking of Kaniehtí:io, she doesn’t tell the villagers about Desmond yet because she’s being cautious. It would be later when her son is born that she does tell them of him.
The villagers are wary of Desmond but they warm up to him when they see how gently Desmond plays with baby Ratonhnhaké:ton.
Desmond is mostly known as the deer spirit in the village and only Kaniehtí:io and Ratonhnhaké:ton call him ‘Desmond’.
Because of Desmond’s appearance, the villagers only hunt deer when there’s a special occasion and they offer a chunk of the meat to Desmond as some kind of offering to the deer spirit while Desmond just assumes they wanted to share the celebration with him and thanks them with a nod. The villagers believe that the nod means he has blessed their hunt. (Kaniehtí:io never bothered to correct anyone but she finds it funny and it’s not hurting anyone anyway… also, she might still believe Desmond is some kind of spirit no matter how many times Desmond tell her that he’s a human turned whatever the hell he was right now)
Desmond senses Charles Lee when they get to the forest. He intercepts them just as Lee starts beating Ratonhnhaké:ton. Lee and a few of them survive and leave and the villagers don’t get burned.
The villagers all agree that there will be retaliation because of what Desmond has done and Desmond volunteers to leave so they won’t get caught in the middle. He figures he’d stay in the forest on Davenport Homestead instead and is surprised when that’s the place Kaniehtí:io suggests. She tells him that the man named Achilles owes her a favor.
Ratonhnhaké:ton later visits him because he’s worried about him and because his mother finally told him all about his father. He still becomes an Assassin to protect his tribe but, this time, his mother is now the clan mother.
AC3 plot still happens and Desmond is left in the forest near the homestead but Ratonhnhaké:ton visits him every time he returns to the homestead.
He becomes a sort-of folklore for the people of the homestead.

Hector and Aeneas SWAP AU: Queen Andromache
A queen is a woman who marries a king simply put it, but she gave a new definition. Her mature, experienced expression reflects the hardships she had undergone as she gently smiles like a lily pad on water. Her caved cheeks, embracing her rosy cheeks, compliment her thin lips that curve like a bow with strings neatly fixed in by Diana herself with great craftsmanship and pure dove-like elegance. Her hair was draping over her side cheeks, reminding me of a statue made from only the finest artist - even better was her nose that stuck out like the spotlight favoured it.
“Hector dear, please tell me more, tales of your past they inspire me!” A buttery silk tone laughed out in a high pitch echoing across the vastly empty hall. I couldn't help but gulp at my own nerves: sweat dripped down my forearms, and my hands shook as she clasped them. “I suppose i could but only for you, my queen. It is hard to swallow but I remember the days I'd walk across the vivid citadel with peace a peace that danced with me and took me along the stone temples of Minerva and Apollo with glitter in my naive eyes!” My voice betrayed me as it croaked bitterly the once beautiful memories tormenting me with nostalgia and a sense of home that I lost. Before I could apologise for my turbulent behaviour, I felt a warm stroke under my eye, bringing my attention back to the light that was her. “You miss it just like I. The home we both shared in distant lands is so unreachable now, but we made our way with the gods at our shoulder, crowning us with victory called hope so my dear Hector, remember your past and present. The gods have guided you to your new home with me.” as if I had been blessed by a god the cold tears soaked into my skin leaving a warmth in me even with Juno working for my demise it felt right to be here in Carthage with her, Queen Andromache.

💐 The Fascinating Origin and History of Mother's Day
The Ancient Roots of Honoring Mothers
Mother’s Day is a holiday we celebrate every year to show our appreciation for the mothers and motherly figures in our lives. But how did Mother’s Day actually come to be? The history of Mother’s Day involves both ancient and modern traditions.
Mother-honoring traditions have deep roots in ancient cultures around the world. Many ancient religions and civilizations revered a mother goddess – a powerful female deity who represented motherhood, fertility, and the life-giving forces of nature.
The Venus of Hohle Fels is the oldest undisputed example of a depiction of a human being and is believed to represent a fertility goddess. The figurine is made of mammoth ivory that was unearthed in 2008 in Hohle Fels, a cave near Schelklingen, Germany, within the Swabian Jura United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site. It’s dated to between 38,000 and 33,000 BCE, which is associated with the earliest presence of Cro-Magnon humans, the first early modern humans, in Europe.
The worship of mother goddesses was still prevalent tens of thousands of years later in Mesopotamian, Egyptian, Greek, Roman, and other ancient civilizations. Some of the most well-known ancient mother goddess figures include Isis in Egypt, Cybele in Anatolia, Demeter in Greece, and Juno in Rome.
These mother goddess figures were celebrated through festivals, rituals, and temple worship ceremonies. These events often included pilgrimages and elaborate offerings that honored the sacred role of motherhood in sustaining life and the maternal activities of creation, nourishment, and protection.
Reverence for mother goddesses laid important groundwork for the modern celebrations of Mother's Day and the honoring of mothers in many cultures today. Understanding these ancient origins can provide context and meaning to how we continue to celebrate and appreciate mothers in the present day.
Modern History of the Mother's Day Holiday
Mother’s Day is unique in that it has a totally feminist history. The idea of Mother’s Day started taking shape in America in 1868 when social activist and leader of a West Virginia women's group Ann Maria Reeves Jarvis created “Mothers’ Friendship Day.”
Ann Maria Reeves Jarvis brought mothers together from both sides of the Civil War to promote peace and reconciliation. She conducted meetings and workshops where mothers discussed health, hygiene, proper care, and welfare of mothers and children.
She also started “Mother's Day Work Clubs” to raise money to buy medicine and provide assistance to poor families who were suffering from high mortality rates due to disease. These clubs were a huge success and soon spread all across the country.
In 1870, Julia Ward Howe wrote the Mother’s Day Proclamation as a mother's response to the American Civil War. Her proclamation called on women to use their positions as mothers to influence society to end all wars. She advocated for women to fight against the unjust violence of war through their roles as mothers and protest the futility of their sons killing other mothers’ sons.
Howe wrote: We will not have great questions decided by irrelevant agencies. Our sons shall not be taken from us to unlearn all that we have been able to teach them of charity, mercy, and patience. We, the women of one country, will be too tender of those of another country to allow our sons to be trained to injure theirs.
In 1905, Ann Maria Reeves Jarvis died. Her daughter, Anna Maria Jarvis held a memorial for her in Grafton, West Virginia which was attended by over 400 people. Anna Maria Jarvis was inspired by her mother's work in organizing women's groups dedicated to social causes to begin working for establishment of an official national day of honor for all mothers.
Anna Maria Jarvis started a letter-writing campaign to prominent political and business figures, urging them to support a national Mother's Day holiday. Her efforts paid off when in 1914, President Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation declaring the second Sunday in May as Mother's Day. This official recognition of Mother's Day made it a US national holiday.
The first official Mother's Day was celebrated in the US on May 9th, 1914. The holiday quickly grew in popularity and has flourished ever since, thanks in no small part to the flower industry. The owners of the Florists Review business journal publicly admitted to their desire to exploit the holiday. Anna Maria Jarvis, on the other hand, vehemently opposed the commercialization of Mother’s Day.
Anna Maria Jarvis’ original intent for Mother’s Day was to honor and appreciate the sacrifices and struggles of mothers and to recognize mothers’ contributions to society and their families.
Anna Maria Jarvis spent the remainder of her life trying to return Mother’s Day to its original, more modest roots. She was arrested for protesting the sale of flowers and even petitioned to prevent the creation of a Mother’s Day postage stamp.
The spirit of Mother’s Day envisioned by Jarvis, although weakened by commercialization, is still definitely alive today in that it remains a symbol of the enduring bond between mothers and their children.
How Mother's Day Became a Global Tradition
The celebration of Mother’s Day in modern times has spread from the US to other countries, including Canada, Australia, Mexico, and more.
Mother's Day is observed on different dates globally, though the most common date is the second Sunday in May. Italy celebrates Mother’s Day on the first Sunday in May. Other countries like the United Kingdom and Ireland celebrate their version of Mother’s Day, “Mothering Sunday,” on the third Sunday before Easter.
Across the world, Mother's Day traditions often include the giving of cards, flowers, treats. and other gifts. Family gatherings, special meals, and acts of service are also common ways to honor mothers on Mother’s Day. Some countries have unique customs, like Mexico’s Dia de las Madres celebration.
While the specific rituals may differ, the core purpose of Mother's Day in all countries is to recognize and appreciate the vital role that mothers play in our lives and communities.
Honoring Mothers in Modern Times
While some traditional Mother's Day traditions such as handmade crafts and homemade meals remain popular today, others have evolved to reflect the changing dynamics of family life and societal norms. It’s still celebrated, though, as a day to honor those women who’ve worked so hard and who’ve sacrificed so selflessly to raise us to become decent human beings.
The range of Mother's Day gift ideas is expanding, catering to the diverse interests and needs of modern mothers. From tech-savvy gadgets to personalized jewelry, from self-care products to experiences like cooking classes or travel packages, the number of thoughtful and meaningful gifts is growing exponentially.
Modern Mother's Day celebrations often go beyond traditional gift giving. Many families now plan special outings, such as brunch at a favorite restaurant or a day of pampering at a spa. Other families organize activities like picnics, hikes, game nights, or trips to zoos or museums – all designed to allow mothers to spend quality time with their loved ones.
Animals Have Moms, Too
It’s undeniable that human moms go above and beyond for their kids, proving that mothers are really one of nature’s most giving and loving creations. But this unconditional love and care is not limited to the human world. We human beings don’t hold the patent on good parenting. The animal kingdom is full of moms who are just amazing!
While some animal moms neglect their offspring as soon as they lay their eggs, and others may even kill and eat them, there are many animal moms on the other side of the spectrum who go to great lengths to keep their children safe!
Where survival is the biggest challenge right from the start, these animal moms take extraordinary steps to nurture and raise their babies. They feed their young, often at the expense of their own needs, and protect them – with ferocity, if necessary.
On this Mother's Day, let's explore some of the ways animal mothers nurture and care for their offspring:
1. Protection
One of the most obvious ways that animal moms protect their young is by physically shielding them from harm. This can take many forms, such as huddling together to stay warm in cold weather or by forming a circle around their young to protect them from predators. For instance, herds of elephant moms often form circles around their young to protect them from lions and hyenas. Kangaroo moms carry their vulnerable offspring in their pouches for several months, maintaining uninterrupted skin-to-skin contact. Panda moms constantly cradle their little ones to keep them close, as the cubs are born extremely tiny and fragile.
2. Camouflage
Another way that animal moms protect their young is by using camouflage. Many animals, such as deer and rabbits, have fur coats that blend in with their environment. This helps hide them from predators. In addition to camouflage, some animals, such as birds, squirrels, and apes, build nests high in trees or cliffs, where they’re difficult for predators to reach.
3. Teaching Them Life Skills
Animal moms teach and train their young to survive in the wild. This includes showing them how to find food and water, how to avoid predators, and how to navigate their environment. For example, lionesses teach their cubs how to hunt by allowing them to play with live captured prey. This helps the cubs develop their hunting skills and also teaches them the importance of teamwork.
4. Scent Markings
Many animals, including big cats like lions and tigers, use scent markings to protect their young. By marking their territory with their scent, they warn other animals to stay away and thus avoid potential conflicts. For example, a female tiger marks her territory with urine. Other tigers can tell by the scent whether she has cubs or not. If she has cubs, the other tigers know to stay away.
5. Relocation
Some animal mothers start to look out for their children even before they arrive. They'll migrate or move to an ideal environment for their children. For instance, salmon and arctic terns often migrate to find the best breeding grounds for their young ones with the fewest predators, cleanest environments, and most abundant food sources. Polar bear moms dig snow dens to protect their cubs from harsh Arctic winds and cold temperatures.
Here’s a look at five of the world’s many outstanding animal mothers who go the extra mile for their young:
African Elephant
Not only does an African elephant mom give birth to one of the largest babies on earth – about 200 pounds – but she also has to endure a 22-month pregnancy! That deserves an extra special Mother’s Day present from her calves. A new elephant mom gets lots of help in raising her young. Elephants live in matriarchal societies, so other females in her social group help her newborn calf to its feet and show it how to nurse. All of the females join the mother in regularly making affectionate contact with the calf. The older elephants will adjust the pace of the herd so the calf can keep up with them and also help teach the calf where to find edible plants and water.
Red Fox
A red fox mother dotes on her kits. She cares for them continuously for their first two weeks, relying on her mate to hunt and bring her food. If something happens to him, it makes life hard for her, but she doesn’t abandon them; she takes over the tasks of finding food and raising them alone. Otherwise, both she and her mate raise their young (usually five) together, teaching them hunting and other survival skills. Red foxes are playful parents, taking time to roll around and play with their kits. The father leaves in the fall. The kits leave when they’re six or seven months old, although females sometimes remain with their mother for a year.
Orangutan
The bond between an orangutan mother and her young is one of the strongest in nature. During the first two years of its life, a young orangutan relies entirely on its mother for both food and transportation. Mom stays with her young for six to seven years, teaching them where to find food, what and how to eat, and how and where to build a sleeping nest. Female orangutans are known to visit their mothers until they reach the age of 15 or 16.
Owl
Mother owls go to extraordinary lengths to keep their chicks well-fed. With super vision and super hearing, a mother owl can identify the slightest movement before she swoops down to grab her prey. Able to hear her chicks before they’re even hatched, a mother owl is always listening to her chicks; much like our dear moms.
Polar Bear
Polar bear mothers usually give birth to twin cubs that stick by her for about two years to learn the necessary survival skills in the cold climate. The mothers dig dens into deep snow drifts, creating a space to protect them from the elements. They usually give birth between November and January and keep the cubs warm and healthy using their body heat and milk. The cubs leave the den in March and April to get used to outside temperatures before learning to hunt.
Criticisms of Mother's Day
While Mother's Day is a widely celebrated holiday honoring mothers and motherhood, it's also faced criticism over the years.
Like many holidays, Mother’s Day isn’t unique in the sense that it suffers from over-commercialization to the point where much of its history has been stripped away.
Over time, the holiday has become increasingly commercialized, with businesses heavily promoting the sale of cards, flowers, gifts, and other products. This commercialization has led to backlash from many people who feel the true meaning of the holiday has been overshadowed by consumerism.
Critics argue that the pressure to buy expensive gifts and participate in elaborate celebrations takes away from the genuine appreciation and recognition of mothers – that we often end up spending more time and effort feeding money into a system that exploits our love for our mothers than actually celebrating them.
Additionally, the holiday has been criticized for excluding or marginalizing certain types of mothers, such as single mothers, adoptive mothers, lesbian and gay mothers, and those who've experienced pregnancy loss. There are also concerns that the holiday reinforces traditional gender roles and expectations involving motherhood.
In Julia Ward Howe’s 1870 Mother’s Day Proclamation, she called on women to use their positions as mothers to influence society to end all wars. She called for mothers to protest the futility of their sons killing other mothers’ sons.
And yet, 150 years on, our planet is still infected with multiple wars that continue to claim the lives of thousands of mothers’ sons and daughters. Are modern-day mothers protesting enough?
On this Mother’s Day, let’s remember that all mothers, all women, and all people have a stake in war and a responsibility to protest the incredible violence that so many victims around the world are suffering through.
Despite all of these criticisms, Mother's Day remains a significant cultural event, with millions of people around the world pausing to take the time to honor and appreciate the mothers in their lives. As the holiday continues to evolve, it will be important to find a balance between commercialization, activism, and the genuine, well-deserved celebration of motherhood.
Conclusion: Celebrating the Spirit of Motherhood
In conclusion, the history of Mother’s Day is a rich one, tracing back to ancient civilizations and evolving into a modern-day holiday that is celebrated around the world.
From the early efforts of an activist mother and her devoted activist daughter to the later support of political leaders, Mother’s Day has become a day to honor and appreciate mothers and motherly figures for the love and care they provide our families and communities. It’s a day to recognize the sacrifices that mothers make every day and to shower them with the appreciation and gratitude they deserve.
Mothers are the bedrock of our families, offering unwavering love, guidance, and support through every stage of our lives. Their selfless dedication and tireless efforts shape us into the individuals we eventually become. From the earliest moments of our existence to the milestones that define our growth, mothers are there, nurturing our dreams and championing our successes.
Motherhood is a testament to the power of the human spirit, embodying resilience, compassion, and an unbreakable bond that transcends time and distance. As we honor mothers everywhere, let’s celebrate the profound impact they have on our lives and the legacy they leave for our descendants. So, to all you mothers, thank you for always being there. Happy Mother’s Day – this day and every day! ☮️ Peace… Jamiese

LGBTQ+ Representation in Ted Lasso (S3 Spoilers ahead)
After speculating for years, fans of Ted Lasso were finally given confirmation that three supporting characters identify as LGBTQ+. And although my dream of Ted and Trent never came to be, the show did portray groundbreaking representation in the characters Trent, Colin, and Keeley, (portrayed by James Lance, Billy Harris, and Juno Temple, respectively).
It may not seem impressive, but according to the website SportingNews, “Blackpool FC star Jake Daniels has taken the inspirational step of becoming the first male English professional footballer to publicly come out as gay in over two decades.” Daniels is currently the only out player in UK’s Premier League, but he is likely not the only one. PinkNews cites prevalent homophobia and advice to stay in the closet as common reasons players refrain from coming out. One manager even went as far as to tell a player, “‘I think it’s best for you not to come out until we get you a transfer or into a different club.’”
The image shown is Justin Fashanu, the first openly gay English football player. He came out in 1990, only to take his own life in 1998. Fashanu was posthumously inducted into the National Football Museum’s Hall of Fame in 2020.
Pictured here is Jake Daniels, the only currently out member of the UK’s Premier League.
Although the show doesn’t dive too deeply into the ingrained homophobia in the sport, Ted Lasso’s Colin Hughs portrays the difficult and impactful decision of coming out in professional football. No matter how fans feel about the Emmy award-winning show's third and final season, we can all agree that the LGBTQ+ representation is nothing short of revolutionary.
For a television show bold enough to tackle generational trauma, mental health, and sexuality; the topic of positive LGBT+ representation seemed to be forgotten. Despite my appreciation for the portrayals, I feel more could have been explored within Colin’s storyline. As crucial as Colin’s coming out is, I can’t help but groan at the idea of yet another coming out story. Audiences nowadays don’t need stories exclusively containing coming-out plots. We need stories of queer characters living and thriving in the world – an unfortunately tall order for studios today.
I cannot express how ecstatic I was when Keeley and her girlfriend, Jack, kissed. It is so refreshing to see Trent Crimm and Keeley Jones be unapologetically themselves in season three; Keeley meets her girlfriend and Trent Crimm confides in Colin about his own struggles coming to terms with his sexuality. However, I couldn’t help but wonder, how would the fictional LGBTQ+ Richmond fans feel about seeing an out Colin on the pitch? Would they feel the same pride as I do when I see Keeley kiss her girlfriend in public?
Colin is in a precarious situation as he considers coming out publicly. He’s not just a member of a team – he’s a public figure with people looking up to him. If he comes out to the world, he’ll be in the history books as the first openly gay football player in the premier league. And although that’s a big responsibility, someone has to be the first. I wish we could have seen that be Colin.
The series ends with Colin celebrating the Richmond win by kissing his secret boyfriend on the pitch in front of countless fans and cameras. It is heartwarming to watch. The only thing that would make it better is if the show could portray the importance of representation by showing the fans’ reactions. Did Colin have any fans talk to him after the game? Were they comforted by the fact that they are no longer alone in both loving football and fearing losing it to their sexuality?
Ted Lasso is a show about forgiving yourself for past mistakes and becoming the best version of yourself. But, it’s also about representation and how it only takes one person to change the entire culture of a place. Ted’s positive nature, patience, and willingness to be called a wanker by nearly everyone in the stadium, are what allow him to succeed in making Richmond a tight-knit club off the pitch and a killer adversary on it. Thanks to Doctor Sharon, Colin finally feels confident enough to become the strong LGBTQ+ role model he was always capable of being.
Perhaps we’ll see Colin step up as a role model in the hinted-at spin-off series. But, for now, we can sit back, relax, and enjoy the wonderful LGBTQ+ representation in Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso.

Ted Lasso - Season 3 (2023) Review
Plot: In the 12-episode third season of Ted Lasso, the newly-promoted AFC Richmond faces ridicule as media predictions widely peg them as last in the Premier League and Nate, now hailed as the 'wonder kid,' has gone to work for Rupert at West Ham United.
Ted Lasso is such a unique show that no one expected to become as popular as it did. Heck, I’m sure Apple is trying every persuasive skill possible to motivate Jason Sudeikis to make more of it even though he’s been adamant that his show would only have a 3 season story-arc. The success of Ted Lasso shouldn’t come as a surprise though - it’s a show that is so refreshing in an otherwise outside world of hate. It’s hard not to look forward every week to a new episode filled with nuanced highs and lows. There is also an unrelentless charge of optimism, especially from the titular Ted, who only wants to see the good in everyone and is adamant in bringing out that good even in the worst of people. There can be an argument made that the first season of Ted Lasso is its best, as it’s simply dripping with that overwhelming feeling of positivity, with every moment feeling like you’re wrapped in a warm blanket surrounded by love and appreciation. The second and now third season go into more darker territories, however I personally think that the show doesn’t lose its charm in the process, as the message is still there that believing in Ted Lasso’s way will in the long run result in success and redemption for all. It’s literally the perfect feel-good show, and it’s a shame that this third season may be its last, but also as evident from the finale the ending is one that makes sense narratively, even though certain characters are left open to continue in their own spin-offs. I’m certain Apple is already writing up checks to make those spin-offs a reality.
So, season 3 of Ted Lasso - does it hold up to the rest of the show? Short answer is yes. And for the most part this final season lacks that sense of finality (minus the last two episodes), with a lot of the episodes simply continuing their focus on developing all the characters in the series. It was evident from the second season with Ted himself taking a backseat, allowing the other side characters to have their moment in the spotlight. The third season puts its focus on the likes of Billy Harris’ Colin Hughes struggling with his identity; James Lance’s Trent Crimm (no longer The Independent) joining Richmond to write a book about their journey in the Premier League; Juno Temple’s Keeley having her own business and her struggles along the way; and of course Nick Mohammed’s Nate ‘the Wonder Kid’ traitorous decision to join Anthony Head’s Rupert in West Ham as their coach, and the ramifications of that decision. Heck, even Charlie Hiscock’s Will the kitman gets more moments to shine, and he’s only the kitman. Yet as the legendary Zava says to Will “I too worked as a ball-boy once for a club when I was just 11 years old. Your passion is why I play.” That reminds me - we have to talk about Zava!!
Let’s talk about Zava! So prior to this season the main narcissist of the Richmond team was the self-obsessed goal scorer Jamie Tartt (played by Phil Dunster). However through the show his character evolved and now has become a proper team-player that puts others before himself, however that means Richmond needed another self-absorbed player to fill that empty void. In cometh the one and only man, the myth, the legend John Wick.....errr...I mean, Zava (played by Maximilian Osinski)! Yes, that is his name. Known mononymously as Zava, this fictional football legend brings arrogance and swagger to the team. Upon his transfer and entrance to Richmond’s locker room, other team players are stuck starstruck as he carves out his own meditative space and shrine to himself in one corner of the room. Evidently the character of Zava is inspired by the Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is one of the most successful footballers of all time and his renowned for his inspirational quotes and attitude. Zava even shares the same hair-style with Zlatan with the pulled back slick man bun. Zava essentially is showcased as the God of football, and Osinski plays him as such, and look - everything with Zava is great! And luckily the writers don’t overuse him, he’s only in a couple of episodes but my oh my does Zava leave an impression! The one and only Zava!!
All the colourful cast return, with Sudeikis’ likeable moustachioed titular Ted a constant delight who you want to hug all the time; Hannah Waddingham (now a Eurovision presenter star) brightens the screen with her energy; Brett Goldstein’s Roy Kent provides his signature grunts throughout, and there’s a great ongoing gag this season with him screaming “whistle”. Anthony Head is devilishly evil as Rupert, and we get to see his home office that looks like the lair of Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars (which I guess makes Nate Darth Vader??). Brendan Hunt’s Coach Beard is an icon at this point, and Jeremy Swift, Cristo Fernandez and Kola Bokinni round up the colourful cast.
If you loved the previous seasons you’ll enjoy the third season of Ted Lasso. It has the same charm and DNA of the previous episodes, and is a pure delight to watch, even during the darker moments as you know that in the end everything will be set straight. Even with Nate turning into the villain - we already know he’s going to have a redemptive arc, this is Ted Lasso overall. It’s about the journey and how he gets through that redemptive arc, and look, by the end of the show you as an audience may not have forgiven Nate, and most people wouldn’t. But sure as hell Ted and his crew do. So it is indeed with great sorrow we say goodbye to Ted Lasso, at least for the time being, and we shall miss all these characters we have grown to love over these past few years. It’s a bittersweet finale, but as Trent Crimm, The Independent stated back in season 1 - “If the Lasso way is wrong, it’s hard to imagine being right.”
Overall score: 8/10

amber aster ( rebecca ferguson ) is looking for HER TWO SISTERS. they should be 39 & 35 and look like RACHEL MCADAMS, IMOGEN POOTS, SIENNA MILLER, SUKI WATERHOUSE. you CAN message the player ( @serpentooth ) before applying for this connection.
type of connection: familial fc suggestions: rachel mcadams, juno temple, lily rabe, suki waterhouse, samara weaving jenny boyd, saoirse ronan, sophie turner, imogen poots, sienna miller. details & description: one for sorrow, two for mirth, three for a girl. first comes the middle ground, neither good nor bad, exisiting in the ether. then, out of primary chaos comes its twisted extension, followed closely by something retractive, passive and contractive. the trinity: daughter, sister, spirit; the wounded, the wound, and the fiend. amber aster is the middle child of the aster family. she has two sisters, one older and one younger. the first is only a year older while the younger currently sports the age of thirty-five. they grew up together, in a spacious household where perfection and diligence were valued the most, over everything else. love was always reserved for the best. the oldest took care of the younger two, but all three of them, while similiar in apperance, have very different personalities. the oldest is the most neutral one, very much the typical oldest daughter, who is naturally brilliant but tries her hardest to have everything under control. the rest of her personality is utp and how she deals with the stress of being an aster. the youngest one is the light. everything bright. in a place like blackwater, it doesn't do her much good. always weak-willed but kind, it's known that life hasn't been very kind to her, but despite not being the favorite daughter, she got the family house. it's important to note that amber has always been the crulest between the three of them. i could definitly expand on this, so hmu if you're interested. i have no other requirments other than they're both current residents of blackwater and were born as humans. whether or not they left and later on return at some point is also utp. they'd also probably still have the aster name, unless married ( but amber's also married and didnt change it so, whatever you fancy ). there's so much i'd love to discuss and these sisters are so important to me. greatly inspired by sharp objects and the crellin family.
